The White Deer

I was working on something the other day and thought of sharing it, so here goes nothing. Just a small drabble, but something very sweet to be seen upon your dash.

Pairing: Atem x Yami (Monarchshipping)

Magic crackled briefly and Atem felt it prickle his skin, before he set the lantern he had brought upon the ground to ready himself for a fight if need be. Yet, his expression softened as his eyes fell upon the pale man whom had suddenly appeared in the small open space and Atem breathed a soft sigh as a tender smile turned his lips upwards.

“Any other man would have kissed the ground beneath my feet by now”, the pale man said as he stared at Atem while rose-red eyes didn’t move away from him. The mare behind Atem pawed the snow once, but then she sighed and remained still while her reigns were released as Atem snorted ever so softly.

“Only because I made them with the tip of my sword at their throats”, he countered and Atem brightened as the pale man cracked a grin at that, before the other laughed and rushed through the snow to throw his arms around him and Atem laughed in return as he twirled the other around.

“Yami”, he breathed out with his eyes closing in joy and the other hummed against him as they embraced each other tighter and Atem buried his face against the thick shawl wrapped around the pale man’s neck to hide himself within it and breathe Yami’s scent with a smile on his lips.

“It’s so good to see you again”, Yami whispered and Atem hummed in agreement at those words while he slowly straightened to gaze into crimson eyes tenderly. Warm hands caressed his face as he did and he smiled as they checked every inch of him, before Yami smiled warmly with relief.

“It’s good to see you again too. When did you come back?”, Atem asked as he returned the favour by gently sweeping blond bangs from Yami’s beautiful face to make sure it was as it had always been.

“Earlier today. I had just returned when you saw me this afternoon”, Yami answered while letting his fingers play with equally blond bangs framing Atem’s face while sinking into the arms gently wrapping around him.

“Really? So… that’s where my urge to go out today came from”, Atem said as he pulled Yami closer to his frame. His hands clasped themselves together upon Yami’s lower back and Atem sighed in relief as he felt the other lean against him.

“Probably… I bring good news too”, Yami whispered as they stood almost nose-to-nose and their breaths mingled in the cold midnight air that surrounded them like a bubble which none dared to break.

“Yes?”, Atem asked and his eyes lit up with hopeful excitement while Yami cupped his face and caressed his cheeks with his thumbs.

“Yes… I am here to stay. They approved of my request. This is my forest now and I am here to stay forever with you… if you shall still have me?”, Yami asked softly and he glanced up through his lashes pleadingly, before finding himself be pulled impossibly closer against Atem’s warm body.

“Prince of the Fey, my Yami… My vow is still yours if you shall have me and if you do, you bring the most wonderful news that could ever be brought in existence. You are here to stay!”, Atem whispered with excitement, though he barely dared utter the words as he felt his body fill with hope and happiness that he could see within Yami’s smile as it was returned to him.

“My vow is still yours too, Até. Now and forever”, Yami whispered as he leaned in and Atem hummed as he steadied them while their lips touched in a soft and tender kiss. One filled with love that brightened the stars as their hearts thudded as one while they forgot the world around them and cared only for the other in that moment.

part of my nimona viewing experience. idk why but i got super emotional in the first five minutes.

Despite knowing Yami had told him otherwise, Atem still felt as if he had to do something. Anything and especially because every other couple they met was holding hands as they walked through the park.

Thing was, Yami was holding his camera so it wasn't an option and still Atem felt as if he was lacking. They were officially dating now, they were together most of the time and yet, nerves overwhelmed him.

What if someone he knew would see? What if they would know his family?

But... Deep down he also wanted to have what other people had. He wanted to walk closer to Yami and see what he saw when taking photos.

Nibbling his lip, he glanced around him again, but there was no one around he knew and slowly, he took a small step closer to Yami prior to sliding his hand in the pocket of Yami's coat.

Crimson eyes glanced at him for a moment and Atem blushed several shades of scarlet, but then he melted as Yami smiled his gorgeous smile and just let him do this little thing. This small gesture that eased him whole.
