Nah, not consciously, though I have read FNaF:TSE and remember the character. I'd honestly believe it was the case though if I didn't happen to remember the exact process that caused me to end up with the surname. It'd be out of character for me to base a DT character name off a fictional character (real world names are fair game/referenced in many names in DT!)

I kinda wanted to give a main character a surname that's also a colour to reference the fact that the main datables have consistent palettes and a nod to the fact that DT uses colour theory all over the game (with grouped colour themes/vibrant weird palettes on different screen bgs.) Hell, it's basically a trope in fiction to give characters surnames based on colours that correspond to (or suit) them somehow, take Walter White and Jesse Pinkman from Breaking Bad, say, a show that goes p ham with its colour theory (namely consistently incorporating it into names/costume design.) Anyway, i briefly considered 'Cyan' as Randy's surname (bc cyan is the base colour for teal, which is the colour of Randy's head, and cygnus means swan, which contains several of the same letters) but, the word 'cyan' is fairly commonly mispronounced by people who've never heard it said aloud (and when people do say the word right, they still sometimes tend to switch which syllable is stressed, at least in my experience hearing people say it) and I figured Randy deserved a surname that everyone can read the same way first time. The poor guy has enough confusion going on in his life without people misreading his name!

So, I brainstormed a colour based surname for Karen (already having most of the others decided at this point afaik), with the aim of maybe using an autumnal colour to match her palette (orange, beige, cream, brown) and then decided to look up 'surnames that mean colours' and voila, 'Dunn' came up on a long list, derived from 'donn', irish gaelic for brown. Also, sounds like 'done'. Like "so, so done." Relates to a colour in her palette (her printer head is brown) and there's a separate pun built in that suits her dilemma (working a job she HATES.) It was a no-brainer for sure.

Y'know, funnily enough, this isn't even the first time I've seen people assume I lifted a DT character name from FNaF. Hell, I've seen folks theorize that I lifted Marla's (Callum Crown's deceased + (formerly) long-suffering wife) name from the identically named character in that very same FNaF novel series, when I actually picked it bc the name is a variant of Marlene, which is in turn derived from Mary Magdalene from biblical canon.

There's biblical symbolism in DT's canon surrounding Crown and his inner circle (y'know, with the whole failed messiah schtick + him helping the disabled walk again with his prosthetics) and Marla's name is an extension of it. Magdalene is notable in biblical canon for being the one woman Jesus consistently traveled with (y'know, like Marla, the one woman in Crown's (quite typically) male-dominated cabinet) and also the fact that Magdalene was allegedly the first to witness Jesus' empty tomb post-resurrection... Marla wound up with sole custody of Crown's husk right after his accident. Both ended up with first dibs on the (now vacant) space their old messiah/former companion once filled. Brutal.

Hi there :) I have explained this a couple times before but in a nutshell:

When Lance's character was first introduced in VLD it was clear he was of Hispanic background. The previous Voltron series had his last name being "McClain" but that didn't fit very well as that's most definitely Scottish and Scottish Lance is not. I did ultimately use McClain though as a nod to my own headcanon where a doctor named Lance McClain saved Lance's life as a baby and hence he was named after that doctor ;p Which also made sense as all of his siblings have canon Hispanic names and Lance does not.

I tossed around a couple surnames as I based a lot of Lance's family and background and even their house on my best friend's growing up (I grew up in a Mexican neighborhood) and so was leaning toward Muñoz but the tilde was going to drive me to a slow death so I noped out of that. I then debated Ramirez (a nod to a favorite White Sox player) but it didn't feel right either and so I settled on Esposito which was a little more unique (and a nod to a favorite character of mine in Castle, Javier Esposito).

Later canon told us that Lance was specifically Cuban so Ramirez would have made perfect sense, but at that point I'd already had numerous stories where I'd written the Esposito family (both fanon and canon takes based on what tidbits canon dropped) and the name was dear to me and so it remains.

This prompt made me realize I don’t think as much of Michael 😭😭 digging thru my Trevor brain-rot brain to find crumbs of Michael ngl

This one isn’t really a headcanon bcz I think it was hinted heavily in canon but I’m not sure— I think Michael may be a sociopath. Doesn’t necessarily make him a bad person, of course, I think he just struggles to emotionally connect with others. Doesn’t mean that he doesn’t want to or can’t FEEL emotion— yes he cares for Amanda, yes he loves his kids, yes he cares for his friends/associates (all in his own way) and doesn’t like killing when it’s senseless (or at least that’s what he tells Trevor, I believe), but he definitely is exploitative and looks for his own benefit

WHICH brings me to my next point which I assume is also fairly popular— Michael’s exploitative nature was heavily expressed towards Trevor, especially in the earlier years after he’d understood that Trevor was really attached to him. So like Trevor was doing shit for him which he knew wouldn’t be done for him in return. There was always an (unintentional?) power dynamic — we know Trevor was relatively “chill”er in his youth, so I think he was more easily influenced by his need to please and be around Michael? Michael also sometimes (both unknowingly some times, and knowingly at others ) used “positive reinforcements” to not only keep Trevor on the right path, but also to keep him dedicated to himself. Why? Because uhh repressed LGBT activity makes a man possessive I guess

Notes from The Tale of Prince Steven of Avalon

OKAY so I decided that instead of going back and editing this fic's notes and risking nobody seeing the relevant info that I desperately want to share, I'd stick it here! (I'm calling it the Ficcyclopedia™.) SO! If you have any interest at all in the inner workings of my brain in regards to this fic, it's all below the cut. 💜

In the first chapter, these are the relevant tidbits, neatly sorted because my OCD said to.

Places:

The original fairy tale takes place in Ireland, and I kept that the same, save for the name of the kingdom. Avalon is a play on the land Tír na n��g, which is the mystical "otherworld" in Irish mythology. Avalon is just another name for "paradise" or afterlife, basically. I wanted something pronounceable, so this happened. It also is really fitting with Steve's character (both in this story and in MCU canon), in my opinion.

I basically decided to run with the whole "Bucky is probably Jewish" Fanon thing, and decided his mother was possibly (in my head most likely) from Poland. Thus, a lot of locations and names and things stemmed from Polish culture and mythology. So, bouncing off of the whole "Avalon-is-based-on-Irish-afterlife" thing, I named Bucky's homeland Verais (Vehr-eye) as the phonological equivalent of Wyraj, which is the afterlife in Polish mythology. And yes, it is spelled a little prettier than just phonetics, because I said so.

In conjunction with the Verais thing, I named the people there the Lechian people, which is for Lechia, an ancient name for Poland.

"The Land of Ice" is a pretty obvious (to me) way of saying Russia.

Gidra is Russian for Hydra. Do with that what you will. ;)

Names/Creatures:

The name Drew means "from druids" which is a play on the fact that in the original story of Conn-Eda, the prince's stepmother was the daughter of a druid. I wanted to include that little thing, even if it wasn't exactly the same.

His last name, Balcombe, means "person who casts an evil eye." It's also a surname that's common to the Isle of Man, which is the place I based Drew's homeland off of.

In the original fairy tale, the supernatural hound is called Samer. Samer means lots of different things in many languages, but my favorite was the Sanskrit for "air" or "wind." I turned it kind of Polish and gave the hound the name Zenon, which is derived from the Greek god Zeus. And Zeus, as we know, is the god of the skies or whatever. ;P This one is a bit more convoluted, but I think it still works.

Even though "Alkonost" seems like a made-up word, IT'S NOT!!! It's the English pronunciation of Алконост. The Alkonost is a woman-headed bird in Russian mythology. And the creature that Conn-Eda goes to see in the original fairy tale is a bird with the face of a human. This one took me ages to find, but I did it for you guys. :D (JK I really did it for me, but y'all benefit, so.) (Also, in chapter two, I made the Alkonost a man. I know it's not perfectly in line with the mythology, but it's really important to me that it be a guy, okay? You'll see why.)

Almaz is the English pronunciation of алмаз, which means "diamond." I wanted the stone Alexander gives Steve to be something precious, but also Russian, because reasons.

Movyatzekon is a semi-made-up word for talking horse, strung together from the words "talking" and "horse" in Polish.

In a related vein, the horse breed that I imagine Bucky is is called a Gypsy Vanner. I picked it because it has famously shaggy hair (and so does Bucky at certain points in Marvel canon!!). The very specific horse I envision for Bucky is in the moodboard above.

Misc. Stuff:

Mulct is an actual word!! It means "a fine, or compulsory payment." Basically, it's the punishment Steve gets for losing the challenge his stepfather gives him.

Variola is an ancient name for smallpox. I chose this as the disease Steve's dad dies from in the fairy tale because, canonically, he dies from mustard gas exposure. Mustard gas exposure can cause skin lesions that can mimic the look of smallpox.

And chapter two stuff, which is literally only places:

Steve and Bucky pass through a kingdom called Albion, which is a very ancient name for England (going back as far as 5th century B.C.E.). Guess where on the map I imagine it is? Yes, you're right. It's England. ;D

They also pass through a land called Veneti, which is named for an ancient west-Slavic tribe called Veneti. It's meant to be where Belarus is, roughly.

Chapter three stuff, which is one measly thing:

If you want to talk about where certain MCU characters come into play, you can always scream at me in whatever way you want! I am probably disproportionately excited about how I've managed to work in so many MCU characters in general, so it's a whole thing in my brain now.

So what the characters and relationships and storylines are in the Miraculous Agatha AU version of Hercule Poirot's Christmas, systematized for the viewers unfamiliar with the original novel:

So there's the father, Simeon, who is pretty much an asshole. Neglected his (currently deceased) wife, cheated left and right, was a dishonest man in adventures in Africa he enjoyed in his youth, as well as vindictive to a fault. And arrogant to a fault. There are his four adult sons: Alfred, George, David and Harry, as well as two adult illegitimate sons, Stephen Grant and Superintendent Sugden (no first name given canonically, always the rank+surname or just the surname, I'll maybe invent one for him).

In our Miraculous world, Simeon used to wield a bunch of Miraculouses, gained during his many adventures. The Ox, the Monkey, the Horse - he loved and actively used these - and the Dog and possible some other Miraculous that he didn't like much.

Alfred is a very devoted and loving person. Simeon isn't and despises Alfred's voiceless loyalty to him. His will leaves Alfred the Dog Miraculous in a "you can have this shit if you are like this" kind of gesture. During events of the plot (those surrounding Simeon's death) Alfred grows a backbone and learns to make important decisions. He eventually embraces Adoration in a healthier version as a strength even if Simeon would disagree.

Harry is an energetic and sassy person. Simeon is that too, and leaves Harry the Monkey Miraculous. During events of the plot Harry realises that Simeon's idea of Derision can hurt people seriously (Alfred for example), and he doesn't want it but does love good fun, so he decides to learn to embrace a healthier version of it while avoiding becoming another Simeon.

George is arrogant, shallow and greedy and refuses to learn anything from the events of the plot. Simeon's will leaves him the Ox, but George refuses it in favour of taking its cost in money.

David is a sensitive and emotional artistic person, Simeon isn't and despises these traits in David. It's mutual, David hates Simeon due to childhood memories of Simeon's neglect of the deceased wife. I am not sure yet how I will use Miraculouses to represent David's growth, but he is supposed to learn to overcome trauma.

Stephen is a determined and hardworking person. Simeon is determined too but has no idea of Stephen's existence. Stephen grew up in a healthy family, knew about Simeon from other people and imagined him an interesting person. During the events of the story he meets the father and the family, is weirded out by all the stuff going about. Eventually he is given the Ox by Alfred the next head of the family. The situation is full of irony, but Stephen would never meet his half-brothers to befriend (and a love interest he met during the journey too) if it wasn't for his Determination, so it works. Now he accepts a part of Simeon's heritage not because of wanting to be Simeon's son that much, but because of wanting to be the group's brother.

Sugden is an antagonist of the story, he is obsessively vindictive and proud in his hate of Simeon (ironically becoming a copy of his enemy in some worst ways) and sets most of the plot events to motion by murdering Simeon. I intend him to have the Tiger Miraculous from an unrelated source.

Another character with a character arc going on is Conchita Lopez aka "Pilar Estravados", a mischievous young adventure seeker who pretends to be Simeon's granddaughter but remorses when the situation goes out of hand. She's a Fox wielder in this story, evolving from a misuser into a more responsible wielder.

There also are Lydia (Alfred's free-spirited wife who has big positive relevance both in his and in Conchita's arcs, gets the Horse eventually), Hilda (David's rational wife with positive relevance in his arc mostly), and Magdalene (George's wife who is a selfish and shallow person like George himself)

Ah, and of course there's Poirot to investigate, but he's for the plot here)

I've seen a couple of fanfics over on AO3 that threw characters from both together in one story, but those didn't necessarily mesh the scenarios together or anything. Meaning that Deus wasn't the god of the world where Ultimate Despair wreaked havoc, or anything like that. :P

...........although that's theoretically doable. You could argue that maybe the story of Mirai Nikki takes place prior to DR1, so Yuno and Yuki are the gods of space and time in the DR universe, which is ALSO the Third World from MN, but the new bosses messed up their manipulations of reality a bit, allowing the events of DR1-DR3 to happen, taking the world off its intended path for a while. lol.

I'm a sucker for weird crossovers in comic books and stuff like that, though, and those often don't try to mesh the mainline universes together in any official/natural way. "Superman vs. Terminator"? Yeah, they had to break from established events in more than one way to make that work. And it's not like "Archie vs. Predator" was canonical to either one, lol. So basically: Why not just do whatever you want? It doesn't have to "make sense" for each universe as it currently stands. (And really, I think introducing blatantly supernatural elements to Danganronpa always feels like a bit of an awkward fit. ....... Please extend my apologies to Komaru in Chapter 5 of Ultra Despair Girls.)

Let's just mash 'em together in a new AU! I can easily picture a scenario where *REDACTED VILLAIN OF DR1* replaces 11th as the one who convinces Deus to do the whole Future Diary death-game thing. Naturally, said villain believes that between their analytical powers and actual future sight, they have no way they can lose - and then they can achieve godhood that will let them make the world truly become despairfully "interesting" to them. And so begins a death game in which our diary holder candidates would include a mix of the players from Mirai Nikki and the cast of the Danganronpa games. You could also even drag in some characters from the DRV3 universe for additional lulz. Which means that in addition to the larger threat from the primary antagonist of DR1, you'd also see the Danganronpa characters thrust into a scenario where all of them know that only one person can survive, which would only INCREASE the likelihood of murders occurring. And we all know that Yuno is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure Yuki is the last one standing. She'll probably kill some of the crossover characters herself as she attempts to ensure that happens.

You can do all kinds of fun stuff with this mashup if you don't feel married to the existing canon. Kirigiri can hunt down the terrorist criminal Minene for a confrontation. Imagine the delusional dialogue exchanged if Yomotsu/Twelfth faces off with Gundham — Hero of Justice vs. Overlord of Ice. And since they share a surname, maybe there's a weird reveal where Mukuro and Marco are somehow related??

We'd probably want to bring this to a head with more survivors still on the field than the original Mirai Nikki's climax included, but that's ok by me. Team up Yuki and Yuno with some DR characters against the big bad near the end. Doing so can increase the tension throughout the endgame over the chance that some of them might opt to kill their new "teammates" rather than focus on the Big Bad.

Yeah, I think I can see a lot of possibilities with this. :)

HC List #3-Patronus’

So back in inktober i did a series based on this premise but got bored halfway through, so here’s that series in written form! You can find my inktober 2019 patronus drawings scattered through this tag here.

Rowan

Little owl. Association with wisdom and teaching, plus the big eyes similar to her glasses, plus little owls specifically were associated with Athena in Ancient Greece.

Ben

Lion.  They symbolize bravery and courage, and in the HP verse, Gryffindor. However, they also frequently get stereotyped as lovable cowards who get scared by everything. I think both depictions fit Ben–the cowardly one for when he was younger, and the braver one for when he gets older. I also slightly considered giving ~new Ben~ a lioness rather than a male one (since patronus’ can be any gender) as their more fierce and the hunters for the pack.

Penny

Golden retriever.  It took me forever to decide on a Patronus for Penny. I considered a lioness, a dolphin, and several different breeds of dog before settling on a golden retriever. I feel they have that same fun and extroverted energy, and that consistent trait among dogs about being loyal.

Merula

Honey badger.  I had a couple of options for Merula (including hedgehog and porcupine ahaha), and I’ve tentatively settled on the honey badger. They’re small, fierce, and ambitious, like her. And I feel she’d relate to that one video. You know, “honey badgers don’t care, honey badgers don’t give a shit” (or so she says….)

Bill

Mongoose. They’re associated with protection, independence, and fighting evil (or fighting snakes rather, but that seems synonymous in JKR’s head P: ), all of which also describes Bill. Plus, we all know that Arthur’s Patronus is a weasel, and though mongoose’s and weasel’s aren’t actually that closely related, they look like they are, so it’d be a connection to his family too.

Tonks

Canonically, a jackrabbit then a wolf.

Tulip

Red fox. I know a lot of people do a raven because of her surname meaning raven, and it does fit pretty well, but Tulip gives me more of a fox vibe. It has similar implications (clever tricksters who are perhaps bad omens) and it goes nicely with her hair : D

Barnaby

Ox. They’re big and strong and powerful, and kind of dumb, just like our favorite boy. I’ve also seen people mention bears, and I think that fits too.

Ismelda

Bat. She had almost as many options as Andre, but I settled on a bat. I wanted to give her something that has a bad reputation or sinister look but is actually quite fluffy, like her. Black cat was considered but color doesn’t exactly translate well to a patronus so: bat. Long considered the evil of the night, but actually quite cute.

Charlie

Dragon. Boy loves them too much for it to be literally anything else! I considered both the Welsh Green and Hebridean Black for the exact breed of dragon and ended up going with Hebridean Black. Mainly because of that sidequest where he ends up with a Hebridean Black scale. I think having an actual scale from that breed of dragon would lead to that being his Patronus form, because you know that would be a contender for his happiest memory. Charlie is banned from sending Patronus messages when he joins the Order of the Phoenix lol Too conspicuous a Patronus

Andre

Scarlet macaw.  He had the most options I wrote down, but I decided on a scarlet macaw. I considered peacock and bird-of-paradise and also dragonfly based on simple parameters. I wanted something flying (for quidditch) and something pretty and flashy (for fashion). I decided against the first two mainly because they are birds and fly, but they mainly stay near the ground while macaw’s fly through the canopy of the rain forest. It was tough to decide between dragonfly and macaw, but the macaw felt more Andre like and won out.

Jae

Raccoon.  They’re known thieves who scuttle about in dark alleyways. They’re also pretty clever even if they don’t look it. Sneaky boi for a sneaky boi.

Badeea

Heron.  Originally, I wanted to use an animal that’s known to use the stars to travel because that feels very Badeea, but I kept only getting the dung beetle and yeah. No thanks. So, I went with the heron! Beautiful and graceful, independent and intelligent. Plus, Badeea gives me both air and water vibes, which fits for a bird that lives in swamps/marshes.

Liz

Chameleon.  There’s a comparison to make between the chameleon’s eyes and Liz’s glasses, all big and round. And then, chameleons are considered odd and quirky–just like Liz.

Diego

Cheetah. Beautiful, but dangerous. “Like me,” Diego would probably say with a wink.

Talbott

Swan. I originally had it as an eagle, similar to his Animagus form because an eagle does fit him very well! It’s his Animagus form for a reason, and I didn’t think he seemed like the type of guy to have his Animagus form and Patronus be two totally different animals. But I was so wrong! Talbott shares a very similar backstory to Harry, down to both of them having an Animagus for a parent, and I think Talbott’s Patronus would manifest in the same way as Harry’s–he’d have a swan, representing his mother. Patronus’s can take the form of people you love, and he loved his parents very much. He’d probably take great comfort in seeing his mother before him.

Chiara

Butterflies.  Chiara is afraid of hurting someone in her werewolf form, and not exactly overjoyed about her lycanthropy in general, so in opposition to that, I’ve given her a butterfly as her Patronus. They’re gentle and beautiful, like her, and as about as far from a wolf as you can get.

Bea

Badger. I feel like her Patronus before and after the portrait would be different considering how big a life change that was, but she would only ever cast it after so I went with that one. But yes a badger. Of course, there’s the Hufflepuff reference, but badgers are usually portrayed as cranky loners with a cynical streak and a heart of gold. And I really feel that fits Bea.

Skye

Hummingbird. She seems like a kind of flighty person for most things, and hummingbirds are known for their colorful feathers, and she has quite colorful hair! Plus, hummingbirds are rather quick birds who can fly in unique ways, which I bet would go well with a Quidditch Chaser.

Murphy

African grey parrot. Both are chatterboxes, prone to repeating things over and over. And African grey’s are known for being one of the most intelligent bird species out there! Plus, can’t go wrong with a bird for a Quidditch lover.

Orion

African elephant. I....had trouble with him ahaha. Elephants represent wisdom though, and are very smart and community focused, so it seemed like a good fit for Orion.

Rakepick

Lioness, canonically. I don’t usually add her to these things, I just wanna gloat and say that one of my options for her back during inktober had been a lionness lol. I ended drawing a cat since I had picked lion for Ben and didn’t want to do doubles for the challenge, but I can give proof that I considered lioness for her!

Planning for a LotR Regency AU (Boromir/OFC)

I'm not going to tag this because it's going to make me look completely insane, but I thought @scyllas-revenge and @trenko-heart you guys might be interested... I have spent way too much time on this (ngl it was fun though xD )

The challenge: How to convert the LotR characters into Jane Austen-style regency characters? I've watched the entire Ellie Dashwood YouTube series to try to ensure I correctly understand how titles and lineages work. Here were my problems and the ways I've decided to tackle them as I plan this fic - some of this may change once I actually start writing, but this is my thought process!

Problem 1: In the regency, people (ie peers/gentry) didn't refer to others by their first names. I had to choose between either: ignoring this historical fact and letting my characters use other characters' first names; making their 'known names' into their titles (eg Lord Boromir is the 'Duke of Boromir'); or, assigning them surnames and having characters refer to each other by names unfamiliar to readers.

I decided to go with the last option which is more historically accurate, principally because if I tried the second option, I would still run into trouble with siblings and parent-children relationships (Faramir is the brother of the Duke of Boromir?? No) - therefore, I'll need to accept that it might be hard for readers to follow who is who in this fic, at first. Eg (as explained below) most other characters will call Boromir 'Lord Ithilien', 'the Lord of Ithilien' or 'Coloniel Hurin'. And to be honest, now that I've stared at this for a few hours I'm actually starting to not mind it that much. I also think it feels more 'Jane Austen-y' for characters to have lots of confusing titles :p However, I think I'll at least let my protagonist 'think of people' by their first names in the narrative, which will assist with clarity.

Problem 2: Most of the characters don't have last names.

Problem 1 leads to this. My answer: I made them up. I tried to pick names from their lineage or alternative names that sounded right. For Denethor's line, I picked 'Hurin'; Aragorn's = 'Telcontar'; Elrond's = 'Peredhel'; Theoden's = 'Eorl' and Eomer+Eowyn's = 'Steelsheen'. I also gave Sauron a first name ('Mairon') and picked a random surname for my protag Cin ('Eradan').

Problem 3: It's extremely unlikely a Steward would be ruling in place of a King.

The more likely scenario (as seen in the regency period itself) is that a Prince Regent rules in place of a King because of illness, absence or minority. I decided to go with the latter - so my idea is that Aragorn's parents died when he was not yet of age and so a Prince Regent took over. This would most likely be his closest living relative - so I decided to make Denethor related to him (I've ended up making Denethor Aragorn's first cousin once removed - any closer and Aragorn would share a surname with Boromir and Faramir, which I didn't want).

Problem 4: Leading on from problem 3... I don't want Boromir to be too closely related to my protag Cin (for obvious reasons!)

I was originally going to make her Aragorn's younger sister, but that would make her and Boromir second cousins. That's a bit too close! So I made her Aragorn's first cousin on his mother's side - so Cin and Boromir are both cousins to Aragorn but have no blood connection to each other. Whew!

Problem 5: I wanted to somehow convert the main conflict of Sauron versus the West into the 'Jane Austen' realm - ie the 'battles' occur mostly during conversations.

I decided to include a plot point like this: Denethor has done something to disgrace himself and get kicked out of the role of Prince Regent (this feeds into Boromir's feelings of inadequacy regarding his line). The next closest relative steps into the role - Sauron! Oh no! This will be the main world conflict of the fic and is the prompt for Aragorn, who is now of age, to return and take up his role, and save his people from the ravages of this unqualified leader. I squeezed Sauron into the family tree as Aragorn's first cousin twice removed.

Problem 6: But, I still want some battles, if not 'on screen' then at least referenced.

This is straight from Sharpe, but my idea is that there is a war going on and many peers' sons have commissions in the Army. Boromir is a Colonel (the highest rank you could purchase), Faramir is a Major (because there's no way in hell Denethor would fork out for a higher rank than that), Theodred was also a Major before he died, Eomer and Legolas are both Captains. And they all go off to fight together, mainly so that Boromir can get injured and give us the opportunity for some h/c xD

Problem 7: So, what happened to Aragorn (and Cin) after his parents died, then? How come Sauron is able to step in and take over?

Sticking reasonably closely to the canon storyline, I decided to make it that Elrond (ALSO a distant relation of Aragorn - second cousin once removed, making Arwen Aragorn's third cousin, which is far enough removed to be okay, I think) stepped in to take care of Aragorn. My idea is that his parents were killed in the same 'accident' as Cin's, so Elrond takes both in as wards. He hides them from society in order to protect them both.

Problem 8: If Aragorn is the Prince, Denethor must be a sufficiently senior peer in order to hold the Prince Regent position (for a time, at least) - even though in Jane Austen most characters are not this senior in rank.

I mean, there's Lady Catherine de Bourgh and a few other mentions of Knights and Earls, etc. But I'm okay with adding peerage titles into this fic because it's fun and I think it fits - the various families must be sufficiently senior otherwise it's not realistic that they're all hanging out together. So I've made Denethor a Duke, which is the most senior rank in the peerage without being actually royal (I went with 'Duke of Osgiliath'). Dukes normally have secondary titles which they lend to their son and heir, so for Boromir I picked 'Earl of Ithilien' (as I mentioned above). I made Elrond a Marquess, and his heir Elladan a Baron, and I made Theoden a Viscount. So all those characters get to be referred to by weird titles!

So, this is becoming a crazy long post, but here's the result of my work:

I've specifically listened to some of the DP adaptation (and ASB) canon characters themes and decided that Nina need one too. This track perfectly describes her with it's tense (waterphone intro, yay), yet somehow chill and melodical synth and guitar sound. And this sweet whistle sound... chef's kiss.

So um... About her origin. (there are a lil bit of violence, just a warning)

She was born in Moscow, in middle class family. Her father was a programmer and her mother worked as a seamstress. Also, she has an younger sister, who at some point in the future became a fashion model (because for some reason I thought that a contrast between two sisters would be quite funny).

Her father was kinda absent during Nina's childhood because of work. At home though, he unconsciously over-controlled her and other family members, sometimes being verbally abusive and manipulative. At some point in 90s, he started to drink alcohol to cope with stress of economic crisis, which was caused by collapse of Soviet economy and a fast pace of "shock therapy". Nina hated him because all of that (though, she constantly feels guilty about it).

On the other hand, she loved her mother and sister grately. They were her role models, even though she'd grown up nothing like either of them.

Since childhood, she was fascinated with crime cases and mysteries, and that's why she went to study for a police officer. But she didn't stay as one for long: sexism, "glass ceiling" and overall corrupted system forced her to become a private investigator.

One day she was hired to investigate a domestic violence case: powerful rich man crippled his wife out of jealousy and tried to get away with it. Nina helped in building a strong case, but the man escaped punishment by bribing (and threatening) the jury.

Nina, being a hypocrite and a desperate human being a big friend of justice and a vigilant, decides to avenge the crippled clientess by maiming her abuser. However, the man dies during the torture, and Nina, in a state of shock, tried to get rid of the body, unsuccessfully. She was caught and sent to prison, where she lived through some shit and nearly got killed.

But she also gained a stand, that's pretty cool.

With a help of her newfound ability she escapes, collects her belongings and flies to Naples (the only foreign city she was in once, because of her sisters work). She works as a PI, although most of her cases are "my spouse is acting strangely, he/she is probably cheating on me, check it out".

Aaaaand actually... I was planning to write a huuuuge funny angsty cool bizarre and d e e p detective story of how she worked with bucci gang (with little funny encounters with other canon characters) (and with more badass OCs of mine😎). Someday I will.......

A bit more about her as a person I guess?(+ random facts)

Her exterior might look cold, but in all actuality she is very sociable and fun to hang out with.

She is extremely sarcastic and loves to make fun of people (lovingly, of course).

She is caring and clingy towards people she trusts (and it's pretty hard for her to trust, she's a scorpio) . If she trusts you, she'll show you a lot of attention, both physical and verbal.

She is a kind of chameleon: she tries to behave in such a way as to win people over (although sometimes she misreads them).

Awfully, awfully petty. Won't try to harm you if you wronged her, though she'll be very mean towards you and probably will spit in your coffee.

Has a tendency to be biased towards some people (*cough cough* mafia dudes for example *cough cough*).

Paranoid and suspicious because of her job and past experiences.

E x t r e m e l y c u r i o u s. She longs to know everything about everyone, so she uses her stand to spy on people she finds interesting... she is creepy lady, uh-huh.,.,.,.,

Keeps her vulnerable side to herself. Probably won't openly speak about her feelings. Rare occasions only. Very rare.

Peek-A-Boo, unlike her user, is adorkable little baby :). She is much more open and friendly, expressing Nina's caring cute side. I keep imagining how Peek-A-Boo climbs everywhere, looking-touching-shifting different things out of curiosity. (Probably she is ENFP, lol)

Nina has a collection of photos of weird people on her laptop.

She's a pretty good singer. Also, she can play synth (one hand only... but she tries!).

Her favorite musician is Nick Cave, she resonates with his goth sad bastrad music... She likes Siouxsie And The Banshees as well, BUT that's obvious, yeah... She likes music in general, can tell you thousand cool facts, can name you thousand obscure bands.

Feminist queen

Uses lots of metaphors in her speech. She says that it's her "russian" habit since she grew in Soviet Union where it was hard to freely express your opinion directly... or maybe she's just pretentious, who knows.

She has a lot of plants in her flat, though she doesn't really know how to take care of them. That's why they die so often. (Symbolism? Yep.) But she has a cactus named Budgie. Peek-A-Boo likes it vvv much. She tried to take it outside with her few times. Nina said no. ( "Let me see what you have?" "A cactus!" " N O.")

Associates herself with a dog. It's her favorite animal. ( I even named her playlist as a "woof woof bork bork")

Her favorite film is "Beware of the Car"(1966). Fav book is "Les Misérables".

The most important fact. She likes pineapple pizza. She fights Italians because of the pineapple pizza. "It's tasty, you guys aRE JUST MEAN."

OMG I have loved all of the stories I have read so far. Just one simple question. What prompted you to change Lance's last name? I wondered if it had been different in Color but it was never outright said but it came back full force when I read Flip

VLD never actually gave Lance (or Hunk) official last names so I didn't change it whatsoever :) (Some people cite a screen grab of the missing cadets for the McClain last name but that's actually a fanwork). The original Voltron series did have Lance's last name as being McClain, but given that VLD gave him a very clear Hispanic background and McClain is Irish it didn't make any sense to use that.

I grew up in a very Hispanic (primarily Mexican) community so I use a lot of those experiences in crafting Lance's family (his home in many of my stories is based upon my childhood best friend's) and I wanted to utilize that in creating his surname. To that I almost went with Muñoz after said childhood best friend, but that is both more Mexican in nature and also the tilde would have killed me ;p I narrowed down my chosen surnames for Lance's family between then Ramirez and Esposito and while I feel Ramirez is more Cuban, it didn't sound quite right to me for Lance's character. I liked that Esposito was a bit more unique and, cough, it also happened to be the last name of a character in a TV show I watched and adore ♥ And so, went with Lance Esposito and it's a headcanon I keep for all of my fanfictions wither in VLD-verse or an AU-verse.

I do though mention Lance McClain once in a fanfic, which is how I determined Lance got his first name as the McClain version was the doctor who saved his life as a baby given that 'Lance' is not Hispanic itself so had to figure out how that worked out too, especially when all of Lance's siblings have Hispanic first names.

I did choose to keep Garrett for Hunk's last name as it makes sense given VLD canon gave him a half-African American heritage.

Also: Any time strikethrough text is used it's because it's meant to be secret information, for example on the small bios any time 'Lucifarian' truly isn't their last name their is strikethrough test after saying that it's not their real name. This is to say that no matter what is written or if it's strikethrough text or not, it is there for a reason.

Damien - Bio In-Jokes and References:

The Quote for him refers back to his 'King of Hell' gimmick, as does his middle name, Rex means king.

He's protective, like a dad, but also way too overprotective over the gimmicks for the girls. He's an old, old school guy so he enjoys card games with the boys.

He's supposed to sound like a young Hugh Laurie, mainly because if I heard a young Hugh Laurie say Damien's bio quote I wouldn't be able to take him seriously.

His main finisher (Seventh Circle) refers back to (a) him being the king of hell and (b) the seventh circle is for violence, and well, he's a wrestler, that's a pretty violent job.

He calls fans both 'peasants' and his 'loyal subjects' because he's like an asshole-ish king who'd quickly be dethroned if they rebelled.

Vickie - Bio In-Jokes and References:

The Quote for her refers back to her gimmick along with the old saying 'pride comes before the fall'.

She's called 'Victoria' because of both (a) it meaning victory and (b) the fact that Queen Victoria ruled back when Britain had an empire, then the empire fell (as in pride [Vickie] before a fall)

Both Her and Damien are born in August and are the only two to share a birth month as they are Father and Daughter (non-kayfabe, as in they share DNA)

She's raised Christian as back when she was growing up England was a lot more Christian than when she became an adult so she got lax in her beliefs

Her personality is supposed to make her come across as a vain, rich, arse of a person, yet deep down she's still redeemable, she's got a long way to go before she actually redeems herself though

She's the type of person who makes sure EVERY little detail of her matches and promos are PERFECT to the point that she will control what other people do or say, down to the moment it's said/done and the way it's said/done

She only likes the other D.O.D (Daughters of Darkness) members because she has only made enemies in the short while they've been in the company, she especially dislikes George 'The Animal' Steele because of his very messy style going against her 'everything should be perfect' views

She's the leader, the brain and the mouth because of her control over the group, if she let them have more control, there might be less arguments about her amount of control

Her named moves are also references to both her gimmick and other things. Beheader is named because of the Tudor monarchs of England having kind of a thing for killing people in this way (ex. Henry VIII).

Lineage Ender is named that because if she ever botches that one specific move (it'll make sense in context/ she does it during a training scene) it could end either her own Lineage or the person she's doing it to.

Lion's den is called that because she traps them in a near-inescapable crucifix pin, and normally if someone goes into a den of Lions, they aren't escaping in one piece.

Family Pride is named that because not only is her gimmick the sin of pride, but she's got pride in her family and she's her dad's 'pride and joy' because she's his only child.

Wish for this (her main finishing move) is called that because it's an inside joke of "you're gonna 'wish for this' to be over soon"

As she's Damien's blood daughter, a 'prodigal son' joke seemed somewhat appropriate.

Billie - Bio In-Jokes and References:

Her quote is a reference to the Guerreros and the whole 'Latin lover' trope

She was born in February because of Valentine's day, hence why her birthday is two days before the 14th

She's 1/2 Cuban (just in general - both Mexican and Cuban culture is interesting to me) But she's 1/2 Cuban in case I ever need to write for Razor Ramon, I can get away with making the joke of 'my Cuban accent's better than yours'.

Her casual style is 'Suggestive' because how else is Lust supposed to dress.

She dislikes Hulk Hogan because she finds him incredibly annoying and she dislikes Jesse Ventura because she dislikes his fashion choices.

I imagine her uncle Hugo looks like Luis Guzman and her dad's like Raul Julia. Try to imagine those two wrestling as a luchador tag team.

Her mother was basically a valet to her dad, which was usually Billie's role before she was part of the D.O.D.

Her move name references are all song references: Love me Tender - Elvis' song of the same name, Personal Aphrodite - a reference to / joke on 'Personal Jesus', Sexual Healing - Marvin Gaye's song of the same name.

Also, I hope to eventually use the joke 'The Babe, the babe with the power,' 'What power?' 'Power of voodoo' 'Who do?' 'You do' 'Do what?' 'Remind me of the babe' because of one of her commentary nicknames being 'The Babe'

P.G - Bio In-Jokes and References:

Her quote is in reference to her being greed and (right at the start of the story) her thoughts on money actually being able to buy her happiness

her surname 'Voronin' means crow, and well, crows like shiny things, like money

she wears 'fancy but simple' clothing because if she bought designer clothes she'd be in debt, but she still wants to look like she has more money than everyone else

she's cowardly in a Jimmy Hart way, she'll piss someone off during a promo and run away once she feels like she's in danger

she's a showman because she's more show than work, meaning she works exceptionally quick matches.

Her moves are basically jokes on the fact that she is greed, such as Gold-digger and Diamond Ring. However, Money Maker is also a joke on the fact that it's a facebuster and usually an actor's face is called their 'money maker'

She hates Hulk Hogan and Sgt slaughter because of how patriotic they are

Kirby - Bio In-Jokes and References:

Her quote is a reference to (a) the fact that she's Gluttony, (b) her being the only one who wears a mask constantly and (c) her basically being the group's scare tactic against people who think they can push them around.

I am planning on eventually making her a part of the machines, maybe as a valet, maybe as a wrestler, not 100% sure as of right now

Her mother is the Norwegian-Scottish one and her father is the Irish-Welsh one

She is the tallest (not the heaviest, that's Damien) but she's still 9 inches shorter than André.

She's willing to bleed hardway, but hates blading

She hates Big John Studd because of his disrespect, she hates Hulk Hogan because she thinks he's obnoxiously 'American', she dislikes Lord Alfred Hayes and Dynamite Kid because they are so insistent on calling her '1/4 Icelandic' whenever she talks about being 1/4 Norwegian. She hates Brutus Beefcake because he's just 'so, so much' energy-wise.

She's always been tall, always shorter than André though, she was 5'6" when she was 12, which is still taller than Sam, P.G and Eli.

Kirby's the best at using folk tales and mythology references in her promos and still keeping them dark and scary.

Her speaking voice is Jessica Hynes, but I imagine her singing voice (which will be important later) to be that of Deee-lite's Lady Miss Kier. On that note, I will be putting up a post on this part of the fic's canon.

Feeding Frenzy is meant to look similar to Roddy's wild punches, hence the 'frenzy' part of the name.

Organ grinder is named because it's meant to look really hard (like she's putting all her force and weight into it) as if she's grinding her opponents organs

Hungry for Blood is an in-joke of during her toughest matches she seems hungry to give the fans the sight of blood

Consummation is a joke of 'the match will soon be over, the match will soon be concluded, or consummated' not the sex-based meaning of that word.

Number of the beast, which is 666, is a reference to the 619, and is a modified 619 basically.

Vampire's Bite is a reference to her sitout jawbreaker looking like she could possibly bite someone's neck, like a vampire, as she performs the move

I didn't want to call her chops, chops, so I made a joke of 'oh it's chopping, like a butcher's knife'

Overfeeding is another basic gluttony reference. Cheshire Grin is a facelock-based joke. Let Them Eat Cake is a butt=cake joke

The ogress is a thinly-veiled way of the commentary team calling her ugly, because why else would she be the only one in a mask

Holly - Bio In-Jokes and References:

Her quote is written that way because I always wanted her to sound like she comes from New Jersey

She's very cuddly towards the rest of the D.O.D and thus gets called a teddy bear by the others

She's Pansexual because she doesn't care what your gender is, she loves people just being themselves

She's the only ginger because I've never seen a ginger wrestler from New Jersey

She was raised Catholic but lost her faith upon realising how bad gay people are treated by the church (Holly literally just goes "Y'all it is 1984, how are y'all gonna reject people based on who they love?")

Holly's very much the person who'll ask permission to cut a promo on someone but won't tell them how harsh she's going to be

She's the group's mom friend (mum friend?)

Before she started travelling with another member of the group (Holly travels with Sam a lot) she would accidentally no-show events

She does accidentally give incredibly stiff shots
