True story: growing up, we spent much time on sailboats. My father, a former Olympic/World Championship sailor insisted that we learn his passion. Unfortunately, his passion for the water sport never transferred to me, and I was not good at it. I could never successfully man a sailboat, myself. What I did enjoy, however, was playing along with him, as he would create family competitions to design his spinnakers, whenever a new one was needed. He would come home from the office with black & white photocopies of the sail shape, and we were expected to colour them in with felt-tip markers, and the best design would win! The selected design would actually get to be made into a sail, which was a very exciting prospect! My brother and I coloured and coloured onto the print-outs, hoping for a chance at seeing our designs realized. My dad always won the competitions. Lol! Little did we understand how things were run, back then. My ego has since recovered, and this week, I found myself painting this piece… It looks remarkably like a messy spinnaker, doesn’t it? Swipe right to see what I’m talking about... Wasn’t intended, I swear! 🧡❤️💜💙 #ClaireDesjardins #TheThingsThatInspireUs #TheThingsThatMakeUsWhoWeAre #Colors #PaintingInProgress #ThickPaint#Texture #ArtistStudio#ArtStudio #MyArtHistory #Spinnaker (at Gore (Québec)) https://www.instagram.com/p/CFSUSy9JIpz/?igshid=1hdzoqjjznu4z
