Training my brain to learn that caring about something does not mean someone will die and it will all be lost.
Cw - death, OCD, mcyt death, dsmp and lifesteal, triggers
This is, obviously, something super personal. But sharing about it is what scares me, so I’m going to do it anyway and prove to my brain that it’s okay to care.
If you end up reading it, know you just read my heart. I hope it helps you process whatever you’re dealing with <3.
I looked up OCD tonight because my brain constantly cycles through the same thoughts and worries about Lifesteal like Non Stop. Like I know I’m ADHD but this isn’t just a fixation on this server, but like debilitating spirals of thought. And all focused around analyzing if it’s all going to fall apart or not.
They say ocd is a “limbic system impairment that occurs when someone experiences a traumatic physical or emotional event while their chronic stress load is already high.”
And that freaking resonated. They say exposure therapy can rewire the brain so let’s go explore what’s the event that’s keeping me spiraling.
My chronic stress load was extremely high that summer two years ago. And then Technoblade died. The longer it’s been the more I really sit with the fact that that was traumatic.
On top of the stress personally, now my favorite YouTuber, my comfort character on dsmp, the freaking anchor of that server, was just gone. Gone.
Dreamsmp came in a time of some pretty heavy depression. Obviously the pandemic was still occurring so that’s a chronic stress load itself (I found it January 16th 2021, so like, three days before the disc finale, but almost a year into covid) and watching through all the streams I was able to completely escape.
For the first time in months I was laughing. Like deep belly laughs. Full body. Actual joy. The neural rewiring my brain those first months was insane. It was pure serotonin.
I became motivated to work again, having something fun in the background. I looked forward to cherishing the lore, keeping those streams to the side for the evenings when I could really immerse myself into the story.
There’s a two-fold trigger that sends me into a spiral around loosing the thing that makes me happy. Unfortunately at the time, the things causing the chronic stress in my life stemmed from the things that used to bring me fulfillment and joy and purpose. They were being taken away, by my own choice, and from my health (more on that later).
So in the void of having my real-life anchors to bring fulfillment, dreamsmp was the thing keeping this whole body going. Truly a hanging on by a thread moment.
But even then, it’s not just about "loosing the thing that makes me happy" that causes these obsessive thoughts.
It’s the irrational connection that because the lore changed and the dynamic of the server stalled, that THAT therefore somehow that lead to Techno dying. (yes. An irrational and non related thought. I just realized with writing that that I have truly merged both those events so closely that when the first happens, I cannot let go of the idea of the second. I’m sitting here expecting someone to irl die.)
Huh. That’s interesting.
It’s like, I read this from some random instagram post years ago. This woman’s husband died on a sunny day and then years later sunny days fill her with dread as if the weather was signaling that she would come home to the death of a loved on.
That’s what’s going on in my noggin.
Because it’s Quackity’s lore that changed the fabric of the dreamsmp. It didn’t have to, but it did. It came at the perfect storm when everyone was super burnt out and needed to run away from the insanity of both the fans and the haters and the sudden massive fame.
He decided to do pre-recorded movies. On my live-stream smp. The very fabric of lore was changed.
And because of the larger production, it took longer, and the other members of the server seemed to not know where to take their personal lore; everyone was waiting for that damn casino to open. And since all the lore ended up happening in pre-recordings we never again experienced that magic of live stream entertainment and improv and dumb bits. Everything was sanitized. For their own sanity, sure. But at the expense of the survival of the server. (Also Techno wasn’t available because of the chemo, so truly nothing was happening on any end of the server)
That perfect storm, loosing interest in the server and the lore being fundamentally changed, set the stage for the traumatic moment of loosing a member. That's my two-fold trigger.
And his death sealed the deal. I’ve never held it against them for not wanting to continue after. Season 2 was impossible the moment that happened.
My chronic stress had exploded so far that my thyroid was fucked and I’m diagnosed with Hashimoto’s, an autoimmune disease that keeps me fatigued more often than not. Besides that, my other main chronic stress was a realization that the Future I had always expected myself to take, the Plan that I had set out, I was suddenly extremely Not Sure I wanted to do anymore.
But I had confidently told my friends and family for over 8 years that this is what I wanted (all this during college and after. I was already 26 at this time) (yes I’m old) (yes life is still crazy when you’re old) (but you start understanding yourself better). It was in this understanding of myself that I realized my direction needed to change.
Suddenly my whole identity I had built for myself was swept out from under me.
At that. same. dang. time. That same week. That’s when the news broke. Literally broke me to pieces.
And I hadn’t told anyone I was obsessed with Minecraft lore. Like bro. I’m out of college for a few years. Get a life. (But man. My eyes just light up when I think about this method of story telling. It’s just goated)
My mom sort of knew. She didn’t understand but at least I could tell her someone died and she had some sort of connection that I had been following this kid for over a year now.
But no one else. The sorrow and pain of loss is just so much worse when you can’t explain why you cared about someone so much. It’s not like my parent died. Or sibling. It was a kid I had never met in person but I resonated with so much.
And I remember distinctly thinking “It’s not worth not sharing the things you care about with other people”. Burned into my brain that day.
But time heals all wounds. Until something triggers it.
I spent the next year just following Foolish, that ray of sunshine who was involved enough to have become my comfort streamer, but not too involved that it was painful to watch because of the memories.
It was a crazy fun year. Best comfort streamer. But people change, I change, and I missed Minecraft lore. You can only watch so much valorant before it’s just the same game.
Foolish found out he was on QSMP (I think it actually was before, I think he knew about the server before it was announced) and he started looking at Minecraft content and Minecraft builds again. For the first time in over a year. It was such a random day.
But we watched Sandiction and… Rekrap2.
Both of them stole my heart and I went, maybe it’s time to return to mcyt. See what’s been brewing.
And before I knew it I was on a month-long binge of Lifesteal content and just so absolutely lost as to what order everything came out in or what season everything was from. Shoutout them being allergic to click baiting “Lifesteal” or adding season tags to the description. It’s such a mess on Youtube lol.
Soon enough I found Baconnwaffles1. Not 0. 1. Somehow found his second channel first.
The videos caught my eye. I knew they were streams and I was trying to find the vods, but as you know Bacon doesn’t have a vods channel and his streams delete after 14 days.
But then finally the fated video crossed my path: “This is PrinceZam and he just betrayed his teammates”
Oh my goddess what in the world is going on in this server.
I needed to know.
So began the true binge. Found Zam’s vods, watched season 4. And I discovered something amazing.
I have genuinely never resonated more with a character than I resonated with Zam season 4.
Every internal debate of Zam resonated with my own dilemmas. People pleasing and understanding what you value came to a head, and only one could win. But truly your values are the only real option because every moment of people pleasing will rub against your soul like hot coals.
Remember those chronic stressors? The life I didn’t know if I wanted anymore?
As Zam walked between conversations with friends, teammates, and enemies, I recognized similar conversations in my life.
I could describe the situation one way, and the person would agree and give advice. But then I realized I could describe the situation in a different light and then maybe they wouldn’t agree anymore. So I didn’t know what advice to take.
And then chat was so funny. The day before the wormhole they started giving too many opinions, the same opinions they had been giving for weeks, and in a flash I was like, omg he’s going to spiral again guys why are you like this.
And then he was like, OMG chat, YOU’RE the problem! There’s too many of you and I’m trying to make everyone happy.
If I tell you I jumped up, screamed, giggled, and floundered around like a crazy person it wouldn’t even come close to what happened. I was so proud of Zam for realizing his emotions were being swayed by the barest opposition. From that third person point of view, I could so clearly see what was going wrong and I was cheering him on to realizing what he truly wanted.
I did, and still do, see so many of the decision making problems that Zam has, within myself. As a piece of media, and him being a character, it’s the craziest most relatable story I have ever seen. I’ve never resonated with a character more.
Then we reached season 5.
The first season I truly watched as it came out. I had gotten too obsessed with this Minecraft world. I wanted more. I loved these kids and their storytelling.
But it was the first season when people started leaving the server on good terms.
Oh no. This sounds too familiar. People are loosing interest in the server I love. What’s next, a change in the fabric of how lore is created?
Then there was a change in the fabric of how the lore was created.
We saw the new members approach the server with a recording-mindset. Who weaponized the lore against the old server members. Pretending they cared about the yapping but then revealing that in itself was a complete and total lie used to get you into the perfect position to either spoil the whole riddle or shoot you with an arrow canon.
And then. Not. Care. At. All. Zero remorse.
I don’t know why the betrayals by Jumper hurt so badly. But it hurt. A lot. (I was triggered that’s why) My emotional reaction was out of proportion to reality.
It’s not like it wasn’t a Lifesteal move, people had gotten into position to betray in the past, and would continue to do so in the future with Leo and Clown betraying Minute.
But it was that “I have no remorse over the hours we spent as a team, not a single thread of care to you or to the yapping lore of this server”. It’s one thing to be betrayed by an enemy. Quite another to be betrayed by a friend.
So here I began. Triggered by something that wasn’t world ending. Quackity’s take on lore didn’t kill the server. Neither did Jumper’s. It was probably going to be fine.
But like. My brain is not agreeing. So I’m pushing back on it.
Here’s what I’m finding.
This is a fun tidbit - when Mapic said “streams are delayed” when he was in the hospital before the finale I could not convince myself that he didn’t had cancer and wasn’t going to die. Bro. Tell me you’re triggered without telling me you’re triggered. (In case you didn’t see, it was just a concussion)
I’m so hyper aware of everything that could indicate I’m going to loose someone I care about again.
The pattern recognition is going out of control.
And I keep trying to calm my brain down and catalogue all the reasons I know and believe Lifesteal will be perfectly fine for probably a while. Like how they have meetings all the time to discuss what went down on the server. They’re talking all the time to work out interpersonal problems and lore problems so that everyone is happy and feels heard. And they’re watching movies together. Meeting up and strengthening relationships. Changing admins as necessary.
And I say it again.
And again.
And again.
Every time something throws the smallest pebble at stability I walk my brain back through all the indicators that everything will be fine.
Jumper:
Jumper loves being on the server. She’s said it. She’s so excited about it. She did have a plan. She didn’t tell us the plan as it went, but she does stream. She’s getting comfortable with the idea of streaming, she’ll learn to trust chat over time. She’ll learn how to loose gracefully on this server at some point. Probably. hopefully. And since I don’t know when that will be I’ll just have to wait until season 6 and see what happens. It’s out of my control. She’s fine. It’ll be fine.
Pentar:
Pentar is fine. He doesn’t understand why chat would tell him he’s the most likely to betray even though every video he betrays. Why is he doing that that’s so weird. But he’s a great teammate and everyone likes having him around. I don’t like how he laughs at Zam, but like I can give him the benefit of the doubt that he just doesn’t take anything seriously and laughs in the face of anything serious. I’ll have to wait and see until next time to see how I feel about what he does on the server. Real life can’t be repeated over and over so just let it go. It’ll be fine.
Minute:
Minute is just so happy to be in Lifesteal. He loves it so much. You can tell by how he speaks every time there’s a group moment. He’s going to be admin next season. He loves this server. He may be overly attached to the Rules and have black and white thinking and he sometimes wields that for his own gain and I hate when he does that can he just have fun and take things less seriously? But I think he’ll get it. He’s competent. And he loves the server. He wouldn’t destroy it even on accident because someone would call him out before that happens. It’s going to be fine.
Ash:
Ash can be mean and also not care about the good that our side is doing and just wave them away saying they’re just evil. He does’t get it. But also he’s quite the actor. He puts on a lore face when he logs on, you can see it in season 4 with the wormhole. You can see it when he logs on for the justice league returns and he’s so committed to being good and fighting evil and as Zam is killing Mid in the background and he’s all shocked as if he was not the one who goaded Zam into killing her moments before. It’s a character. Even when it feels like it shouldn’t be. He does take random events in stride, pulling up the meditation guidance video when they all got killed. He’s stressed out by it, but also takes it with some levity. He’ll be fine. He just chose a questionable character to act this season and didn’t know how to balance his position as admin separate from his need to win. But he’ll be fine.
Can you see how this is exhausting? This is my brain on the daily.
Every day I find myself working through each person one after another as something small comes up to threaten the balance, or reinforce the good.
This is when I noticed this wasn’t simple excitement about the lore, thinking and guessing about what might happen. It was the same thoughts over and over and over. And I couldn’t stop a line of thought until I mentioned all the things. That’s what made me look up ocd.
But back to it, I’m actually so much more okay with Ash because it’s been a couple seasons with him. I’m starting to see his tells. So I can just let the rough parts slide away.
And that’s really what I just have to accept. That I can’t self soothe my way into being okay. Resisting acknowledging what I’m afraid of is just making me spiral more.
We’ve seen people choose to leave after stressful seasons. We know some people become aware that they aren’t cut out for Lifesteal. Or they just don’t want to be. Some of these members might decide that. And Lifesteal has continued despite members leaving.
OMg can I please stop cataloging how it will be fine?
I have to sit with the reality and realize nothing bad DID happen, NOT that nothing bad MIGHT happen.
(This is unironically so counterintuitive to my brain. What do you mean I have to just accept that nothing bad happened, what if something bad does happen!) (But that’s what anxiety looks like. That’s not a good)
How do you convince yourself that you can’t predict the future? Asking for a friend.
I think it goes back to caring. I don’t think I’m allowed to care about any of this. That it’s silly, or dumb, or immature.
It was, in fact, in caring itself that the loss of Techno was so painful.
So I don’t allow myself to care. To get too invested. Any time I see that I’m caring I push up on the walls of my trenches and shove that shit out. Only analytical thoughts in here. Measurable, quote-filled analyses.
But caring does not therefore mean there will be a loss.
So. Okay. Pivot. What am I really afraid of?
I’m afraid the server will end. That something will make Zam give up and leave.
Wow. I thought that was going to be a long ass paragraph but it really is just that. I know I’ll stop watching lifesteal if Zam is gone. Unless someone new comes in that has his same spark and dedication. Unlikely.
So that threat is the worst.
And I’ve seen his interest wax and wane. I know he can disappear for a month.
But I also know he can come back. And he’s been a lot more mature and healthy and confident in being the streamer of Lifesteal. In how much he loves the server.
Which is where pb&j being such a threat to the fabric of how lore is done is so scary, because that changes Zam’s care. But then again. It really didn’t. He just pivots.
One of the most healing things has been watching the old members leave and continue to make content. And seeing how they choose to make their exit. They honored the server and the time they were there, in Rek’s case uplifting Lifesteal.net, in Parrot’s in completely reediting all his footage into a cohesive story.
And then they still make content together. All the members make content with each other outside of Lifesteal. (And those that left the internet forever, that was okay too)
So that’s nice. Some bad things came to pass, and they've shown their response to it. Also Zam taking a break didn’t change how the lore was created, so that wouldn’t be a trigger.
The trigger from that fear would be if he did leave, my brain would go into high gear looking for who was going to die. And I would have a new post to write lol.
The trigger that is still tilting me is that pb&j changed how the lore was made, and my brain went *danger* *danger* This is something that happened last time and you know how that turned out! Start looking for who is going to die!
And it stopped me from seeing how this is not the same situation. The pattern for a death that I think I’m seeing, is not a pattern.
And sitting with how nothing DID go wrong, that fear did not come to pass, is exposure therapy.
Because nothing went catastrophically wrong with the season 5 finale. I just keep closing my eyes, sitting in the problematic lore, and not accepting what actually happened at the end of the season, and freaking out that disaster is coming.
So what happened?
Season 5, you tried to kill my server.
But The server resisted. (Hahahah undertale reference!)
Clown came back. Ro came back. Branzy betrayed everyone for Clown. Bacon and Zam sat in vc the entire finale fight. Mapicc fought until he couldn’t.
Spepticle gave his account then fought for it back. Pangi gave his account. Spoke gave his account. Red did the blessings/curses as Zam wanted. 4C said he was glad to give Minute the presidency because he knew Minute wanted peace and he knew peace was not an option in Lifesteal. Actually the quietest of goats. Didn’t realize he thought that deeply about the server.
And it meant so much that Clownpierce, who hasn’t been meaningfully involved since the season 3 finale, came back and fought for his server. He made Lifesteal season 2. It’s always been his domain and he fought for its soul.
That’s the season 5 finale.
The Players fought for Lifesteal. The server resisted destruction.
This chapter is closed. This season got it’s ending. And it’s “not like last time” like my brain keeps thinking.
The season might have ended with a lot of unknowns for how it will affect season 6. Will these old members still care? Will pb&j be a menace still?
But what happened was a moment where everyone came together to care about the server. And that means the anxiety was unfounded. If something happens like this again, I have an example where everything didn’t fall apart to counter my fear that it will.
See you around!
If you actually read to the end you’re amazing. Hopefully this is something you can do in your life to help understand what is the cause of your pain and anxiety. I wasn’t going to post it initially, but working it out as a post I could theoretically show to other people helped make it way more real than trying to work it out in my head, talking to myself. I had to write it in such a way that someone else would understand. Even if I didn’t post it.
I’ll probably have many more days of writing when I notice a new trigger. Exposure therapy isn’t a one and done. (I probably won’t post any of those.)
But my body feels so much more relaxed now. Something has shifted in my head as a result of writing this all down.
Good luck!

Cracks 2: Electric Boogaloo
AKA: The Universe Where Henry Did Nothing Wrong? It Exists On Screen.
That's right babes. If you thought the crack fuckery ended with my last post...you're in for an insanity-inducing surprise.
The gate crack we talked about here? It straight up disappears.
Let me explain. The progressions I want to look at are the ones where Brenner finds El in the aftermath. Supposedly, the progression from his memories in S4E1 is the same progression as the one in S4E8...until you look closer.
Before we start, I want to give a major shout-out to Em. All the corpse and Brenner details re: blood and positions are things he noticed. I'm just merging that evidence with the cracks and mirror fuckery I've found. It's very much a team effort, and I likely wouldn't even be making this post without him noticing the first weird details during the NINA fight.
Here's our scene progression:
S4E1: The Hellfire Club (left) and S4E8: Papa (right)
We've got 3 weird things to contend with:
What's going on with that Brenner who has blood bisecting his face?
Where did the gate crack go?
Why did the corpse to her right change positions entirely?
I've diagrammed all of this, so lets start with the most obvious one.
The Lost Gate.
Where is it? How are we missing an entire gate?
Now lets look at the Brenners.
We've got this Brenner (I call him Bisecting Brenner) with these corpses:
Things To Note Here:
Eyes are not gouged, just bleeding
Limbs are not broken
Corpses are older than they ought to be in 1979
Killing style is reminiscent of El's style, not Henry/Edward's style (see below)
El kills Connie (S1E8: The Upside Down):
The gouged-eyes, broken-limbs, Henry/Edward-style version of the above body:
That is not the same killing style.
Moving ahead.
Bisecting Brenner exists in opposition to this Brenner (I call him Half-Face Brenner). Half-Face Brenner is associated with, but not necessarily shown in frame with, these corpses:
Things To Note Here:
Eyes are not shown, but they're likely gouged given the limbs
Limbs are clearly broken
Corpses are the age they ought to be in 1979
Killing style is textbook Henry/Edward
Lets look at the other set.
Here we have Brenner+El and these corpses in frame with the gate crack:
Things To Note Here:
Eyes are not shown
Limbs are twisty (Check out the fingers on that bottom left kid. Fingers generally don't bend backward like that naturally.)
Age ranges aren't concrete
002 is present at top right, clearly shown
The corpse at top left is on her back
This exists in opposition to no-gate El, who's associated with these corpses:
Things To Note Here:
This is the first time we're shown corpses after Bisecting Brenner is shown
Corpse at top left swaps positions between camera changes
002 is shown, but by GOD it's just his toes in that one shot (꒦ິ^꒦ີ)
There's a pattern.
S4E1: Half-Face Brenner enters -> mangled corpse close-ups -> Half-Face Brenner close-up -> twisty children, top left on her back with gate crack in frame, 002 in frame -> Half-Face Brenner close-up -> gate crack + El, no bodies shown -> cut to black
Bisecting Brenner doesn't shows up in that progression, but he does show up in El's flashbacks alongside Half-Face Brenner:
(Huge thanks to Em for pointing this one out!!)
Here are the full images, just in case you'd like to double check the Brenner identities for yourself:
So Bisecting Brenner isn't just a one-off shot in total, it's just that he only appears once in El's experience of the 1979 massacre via NINA. He definitely exists, and he is not a production error.
Moving on.
S4E8: Bisecting Brenner enters and is shown with un-mangled older bodies with eyes -> Camera swap to gate crack + El, no bodies shown -> Half-Face Brenner close-up -> no-cracks El, no bodies shown -> El + top left on her side, 002's toes just barely in frame -> El + top left on her back, no 002 in frame -> cut to black.
The pattern of the bodies between these progressions is so interesting to me, and I just want to touch on it briefly as it relates to the aftermath, since Em is planning to elaborate further on the positions during the fight once he nails it down. (That day will be the day we feast fr)
Let's dive in to a couple corpse positions:
We have that top-left corpse who swaps back and forth between side-laying and back-laying, but 002's toes indicate he likely isn't changing position between those shots:
However, that position is entirely different than the one seen in S4E7, where a version of Henry/Edward has just killed 002 on screen:
Things To Note Here:
002's right foot is in front, his left leg is tucked under, and his arm is not twisted.
Top left's feet point away from the wall, and we can't tell if she's on her back or side. (I'd wager she's on her back based on the position of her feet in relation to the blood stain. See side-laying and back-laying position below)
Things To Note Here (Bottom Image In The Above Collage):
002's Left foot is in front, his right leg is extended behind, and his arm is twisted.
Top left's feet point almost straight up underneath the bloodstain, and she's on her back.
That's not the same body as the 002 who was just killed by that version of Henry/Edward.
Whichever timeline that particular Henry/Edward killed 002 in, it is not the same timeline as the gate crack.
This all means we have at least three concrete combinations of corpses between these three episodes, and at least two concrete combinations in the aftermath progressions:
Top left on her back, 002 in left-foot-forward position (Aftermath, gate crack in frame)
Top left on her side, 002 in left-foot-forward position (Aftermath, gate crack not in frame)
002 in right-foot-forward position, top left's position not concrete. (Immediately post-death for 002)
On top of all this, there's another detail I want to bring to your attention:
The mirror shards between gate cracks and no cracks do not change. This holds true for both progressions.
This means they ought to go together, which so far tells me...There's a lot still to think about.
So far, we we've been shown in total:
One definite instance of right-side mirror with gate cracks
One definite instance of right-side mirror with no cracks
One definite instance of left-side mirror with a dematerialization event
One blink-and-you-miss-it instance of right-side mirror with a dematerialization event
No concretely or speculatively shown left-side instances without cracks/dimension events.
I'd like to mention, as well, that we've been shown one possible instance of a left-side gate. It's unconfirmed and purely speculative because the gate has not formed yet at this point. However, the corpses' limbs are snapped and their eyes are gouged out, meaning that this is definitely a Henry/Edward-perpetrated massacre timeline. Thus, the shot below is leading to either a gate or dematerialization, it's just not certain which one.
We've also been shown:
One gate-cracks version of Half-Face Martin Brenner in frame with a right-side-orientation alignment mirror
One dematerialization-cracks version of Half-Face Martin Brenner not tied to a mirror shard alignment.
One version of Bisecting Martin Brenner who is likely tied to the no-cracks, right-side-orientation alignment mirror.
Zero Richard Brenners of any kind
In conjunction with my earlier post, I have a few summary thoughts.
Bisecting Brenner most likely does not share a timeline with either of the Half-Face Brenners.
Left-foot-forward 002 is shown in frame with the right-side-orientation alignment gate outcome the Duffers show us.
Right-foot-forward 002, therefore, is not in the gate outcome we're shown...and may be an indicator of a dematerialization timeline, since he was killed by Henry/Edward on screen.
002's death is split between two cameras. This may be indicative of a timeline swap.
Bisecting Brenner being in frame with a killing style that's both distinctly different from Henry/Edward's and distinctly similar to El's from ST1, while being in the same progression as no-cracks El, leads me to think he's tied to a timeline where Henry/Edward's massacre didn't happen.
There is at least one timeline where Henry/Edward did not have Soteria removed, since there is at least one timeline where no dimension events occurred and at least one timeline where no gouging/bone-breaking happens to the corpses.
CONCLUSIONS RE: HENRY/EDWARD
Since there's at least one timeline where no gate and no dematerialization occurred, and there's at least one timeline where no gouging/bone-breaking occurred...that means that these stills, the ones where Henry/Edward has no blood on him, not even the Soteria streak?
These are likely connected to that timeline.
This means there's at least one timeline where Henry and/or Edward are unaltered by the side effects of their powers and have done nothing wrong.
That means there is a timeline where Henry and/or Edward are innocent and good.
(More below the cut! Not necessarily analysis, mainly speculation and some theorizing. Read if you want to, it's not necessary for the above analysis.)
Speculation Time! (for those who made it this far)
If I were to theorize about what, exactly, happened in the no cracks timeline...it would be something like this:
We know that HNL has tried to force El to kill before, and she refused...until she was cornered.
El kills at least twice when cornered. She has a higher kill count than pre-massacre Henry/Edward by the time she's the age he was when he was stolen by Brenner.
We know Henry/Edward was aware of and told El that Brenner had plans to let 002 attack her, and we know things went awry and led to the Henry/Edward version of the 1979 massacre. This seems to have happened because Henry/Edward tried to step in and prevent Brenner's plan. He has a track record of trying to help but only making things worse. He says as much during the chess scene.
So what, imagine, might have happened in the event that Henry/Edward had been prevented from stepping in? What, say, might have happened if El had been cornered by people...who had the intent to kill?
No gate or dematerialization cracks. No gouging. No broken bones. Different ages, different positions, different Brenner. Henry/Edward with no bloodstains and no Soteria removal streak.
I'm staring directly at it...thinking hard on it...nothing certain yet though.

Questions for Writers
Tagged by @merge-conflict! (Thank you!)
Last book I read: Nonfiction - "The Unfolding of Language" by Guy Deutscher, Fiction - "Children of the Mind" by Orson Scott Card
Greatest literary inspirations: Valerie Locke (my V, from "Secure Your Soul" and "Beyond the Event Horizon") is largely inspired by two characters - Peter Wiggin from the Ender's Game Series by Orson Scott Card and Coriolanus Snow from The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes by Suzanne Collins. In fact, her last name comes from Peter Wiggin's propaganda-spreading alter ego, Locke. One thing I really loved in TBOSAS is the disconnect because Coryo's internal dialogue and his external behavior. He is charismatic on the outside, but judgemental and selfish on the inside. So I definitely draw inspiration from the way Collins wrote that contrast when I write my V. Peter Wiggin is similar, although it isn't written in the same way because he doesn't narrate and the main narrators (Ender and Valentine) can see through his facade. But still he manages to take over the world with just the power of controlling the narrative.
Things in my current fandoms I want to read but I don't want to write: I don't think I have this problem because I always want to write all my ideas. If anything, I need to work on less projects all at the same time 'cause I don't make enough progress on any one individual project.
Things in my current fandoms I want to write but I think nobody would be interested in them but me: To be honest, I think all of my premises would have an audience. Hopefully that doesn't sound arrogant, but mostly I just mean that all the fandoms I want to write for (Cyberpunk 2077, Mass Effect, Star Wars: The Old Republic) have active fanbases in terms of fanfic readers and I think my premises are all ones that at least some people would find interesting.
You can recognize my writing by: Villain and/or ruthless hero protagonists, lots of em-dashes, characters whose internal state doesn't match their external behavior, outgoing protagonists who are talkative and excitable, characters having lengthy internal monologues in the middle of a conversation, beginning dialogue with words like "Hmm...", "Well...", "I mean...", etc. and then interrupting with a dialogue tag and moving on to the rest of the line (i.e., "Well," she said, "I don't see how that will help us.")
My most controversial take (current fandom): I like to write for Corpo V and Renegade Shepard. I think Corpo V is fairly popular, but even so, I think a lot of people don't consider Devil Ending their canon because it's so depressing. My version of Devil Ending is even more depressing than canon. I'm almost certain Paragon Shepard and Paragade Shepard are significantly more popular than Renegade Shepard, especially my version, who makes pretty much every worst possible decision (doesn't cure the genophage and kills Wrex and Mordin and doesn't let the geth live, etc.).
Top three favorite tropes: Both corruption arcs and redemption arcs. The Mastermind as a character archetype. AUs in general.
What’s your current writing mood (10 – super motivated and churning out words like crazy, 0 – in a complete rut): Honestly, it's hard to say because it changes a lot in a fairly short time-frame. I do most of my writing in huge bursts where I am highly productive for hours at a time, and then I don't write again for weeks.
Share a random frustration: Like I said earlier, it's hard for me to avoid taking on too many projects at once. I think I also have a tendency to start sharing a little too early and then wanting to go back and edit after the fact. I get overly excited, I guess.
And, finally, I tag @ghostoffuturespast, @fereldanwench, and @another-corpo-rat.

Survivor Season Rankings
Worth Playing For 1) 28: Cagayan Such an explosive cast! Consistent throughout with great pre-merge and post-merge. While the winner may have been overpowered with idols there was still some strategy/manipulation to be done to end up in Final Tribal, I respect the gameplay. Lots of memorable, historical players & moments, my personal favourite season
2) 37: David’s vs Goliath’s The best season to introduce someone to Survivor with! It has a great, diverse cast with many legendary players & moments. Almost every modern advantage pays out in a big way. The theme works fairly well, overall it’s very fun 3) 16: Micronesia Fans vs Favorites Some of, if not the biggest moments in Survivor history! Erik & the idol, the little “Ozzlets”, the f’ing stick!! A slower pre-merge with a bit of a lackluster Fans cast, but the Favorites more than make up for it post-merge. 4) 18: Tocantins One of my favourite original casts in one of my favourite locations! The Brazilian desert is beautiful and makes for a unique landscape. We see the origin of characters like Coach & Tyson, and also one of my favourite duos of all-time in Stephen & JT. Plus the birth of simmotion! 5) 15: China Another great season for the same reasons as above. Amazing casting with Courtney, James, Todd, Amanda, Peih-Gee, etc. and some breathtaking landscapes & temples. Great winner, the big moment with the double idol boot.... DAMN!! 6) 7: Pearl Islands The best original era season in my opinion. The theme is very strong throughout the season, very much paying off in the first episode with the unique “marooning” and Rupert pretty much being a pirate. A great cast, some fun twists, and a moment that the Smithsonian used to encapsulate all of reality TV!
7) 20: Heroes vs Villains The ultimate battle of good vs evil, what more needs to be said? A massive returning cast with some of the fiercest competition, it gave us our first two time winner. I do find I prefer most players on their other seasons however, letting this one slip a bit lower in the rankings, but overall still a top tier season 8) 33: Millennials vs Gen X Our first season on the current Fijian beaches, and it never feels fresher! A great cast with a good theme, containing strong emotional moments throughout. The “Did you do that!?” - “Yeah. I did it” moment may be my favourite vote out reaction of all time.
————
My Life Is Fine 9) 32: Kaoh Rong At the time of the live airing I remember this season leaving a dirty taste in my mouth with the sour bullies in Jason & Scott, as well as the “robbed goddess Aubry”, but in revisiting this season I found a lot more peaks than valleys. I came to gain a better appreciation for the winner as well, and it may have the most bonkers reunion special. Drew Carey, Mark the Chicken... Sia?! 10) 6: Amazon While the theme of men vs women may have played a bit hornier at the time, I still think it made for some interesting commentary and moments on the show. The location feels more intense, even when the tribe isn’t burning themselves to the ground haha. Also the birth of one of my favourite characters in Rob C! 11) 10: Palau Some may say the boot order on this season is very lackluster, but it does bring us the only time a single tribe is whittled down to one player. I also find there are entertaining moments throughout both the pre & post-merge. The theme works surprisingly well with sharks & army, it gives us a rootable winner, and a record breaking challenge! 12) 25: Philippines While we do need to ignore the *redacted* of it all, we get another great mostly original cast with a very unique, historical, and rootable winner. We also get one of the best “love-to-hate/hate-to-love” villains in Abi-Maria, who thankfully cracked a coconut into *redacted*’s head! 13) 42 I haven’t been completely loving the new era of the 40′s’, but I find it certainly worked best thus far with 42. Some of the twists were slightly altered from 41 showing production had learned some of their faults, while also adding some new interesting twists. I think the cast really pops here, especially in our winner! 14) 40: Winners at War An all winners season, what’s not to love? I do find a different boot order could have made for a much more entertaining season, but what we were given was still some of the closest challenges and fiercest competition we’ve seen. I support the win of our second two-time winner, and will forever remember being touched by Ethan’s journey on Extinction 15) 13: Cook Islands Once again another theme that might not have played out so great in hindsight, but it did lead to our most diverse casting yet and I think it pays out on screen. The birth of legendary players like Parvati, Ozzy, Penner, Yul, etc. and an all-timer moment when Jeff asks “Candice, from Raro tribe?!?” 16) 27: Blood vs Water I do find the pre-merge a bit salty and a bit of a downer, but once the season starts picking up momentum it pays out. Some comedic moments with our “coconut bandits”, it also gave us the historic moment of someone voting out their mom! I very much enjoy the winner and their journey here 17) 29: Blood vs Water 2 This is another season that I think plays much better on a re-watch than live at the time. I always loved the winner and their journey, but some underperforming cast members does drag this down a bit. There are some really unique moments & dynamics playing out with the only all original cast BvW theme however, worth revisiting 18) 38: Edge of Extinction The theme may be awful, but I really support the original cast in play and how hard everyone was playing. I think the theme and how the season ultimately plays out drags this down a lot further for most people, but I’d love to see characters like Devons, Victoria, Lauren, even Reem return for another try 19) 31: Cambodia - Second Chances What should be the “ultimate Survivor super-fan season” ends up playing out a bit too unnecessarily complex for me, but still it cannot be denied how strong the returning cast is and how hard everyone is playing. An all-time tribal when an idol blocks a record 9 votes, plus a great winner, an overall good season 20) 12: Panama Perhaps the most uneven season in terms of tribes between the explosive Casaya and the tepid La Mina, it has some very iconic, comedic moments (mostly from Shane) and the birth of our queen Cirie! 21) 4: Marquesas A very underrated season. While the change in location last minute does show on screen production-wise at times (a kite challenge, really?) we get our first big power flip with the dismantling of the Roto Four, and our first “rocking out”, as well as the many firsts in our winner!
————
Ain’t No Hershey Bar 22) 17: Gabon Probably the biggest cluster-fuck of a season, it is messy in all the right ways. One of those “so bad it’s good” type of situations, I can’t help but grab the popcorn and take in all the salt & sass. It also has one of our best landscapes, I’ll never forget the moment Ace is doing a confessional and an elephant just walks into the background for a sip of water 23) 41 A very polarizing season, lots to love and to dislike. Production was trying out a lot of firsts here, and while they don’t all pay off I find what does makes for an overall enjoyable enough season. I think a re-edit could make for a more entertaining experience, especially in regards to our winner 24) 3: Africa I do find the earlier seasons can be a bit drier or slower compared to more modern eras, but Africa certainly brought us our most dangerous season. Between the lions, the lack of water & food, and the intense sun, this may be the best season for people actually wanting surviving in their Survivor 25) 19: Samoa This season is very heavily edited towards a certain character, so mileage varies depending on your opinion of him, but the way Russell outmaneuvers not only the cast but production is masterclass. I don’t support all of the gameplay, but it does make for entertaining TV 26) 9: Vanuatu Another season that plays better in a re-watch than at the time. I think the men vs women theme works better this time around, and the ultimate winner’s path does allow for a lot of good conversation & commentary 27) 1: Borneo The one that started it all. Production doesn’t quite have everything figured out yet, which can make for a bit of a clunky watch, but what we get here is the template & groundwork for every season to come. Thankfully we had a winner with the foresight to see the real potential of this game that is Survivor 28) 43 A very great cast that I think is unfortunately brought down by the current metagame, as well as a confusing edit and a not so favourable winner. I do think Jesse’s big borrowed idol move will go down as an all-timer, but that alone is not enough to catapult this season any higher
29) 2: Australian Outback Some big memorable moments as well as a good balance between gameplay & survival elements, it’s a shame the older editing & pacing make for a bit of a calmer watch at times. Survivor was never more popular than at this moment however and it really shows in the reunion! 30) 26: Caramoan There’s not a lot of great stuff in this season, between the negative moments with Brandon & Phillip and Brenda & Dawn you would hope for some great strategic gameplay, but there’s not really that either. Yet somehow I end up being drawn back to this season, I guess it hurts so good! 31) 14: Fiji An awful theme. Wow, I wonder who will dominate, the Haves or the Have Nots?! You can also feel the recruitment in regards to casting. But we still have one of our more diverse casts with some bigger, historical moments that I think play better through a modern day perspective 32) 30: Worlds Apart Similar to Caramoan, I find there are a lot of downer moments that drag this season down (Will being awful to Shirin, Dan overall, Joe in hindsight), but yet I am drawn back to it. If you enjoy awkward moments then Vince is comedic gold, and Rodney definitely plays much funnier a second time around 33) 36: Ghost Island This theme should have been great, but it really doesn’t pay off. The cast I also found was a bit dull, but the dynamic of Wendell & Dom really gives this some mileage 34) 23: South Pacific An instance of a good but unfortunately under-edited winner in a not so great season. The overtones of religion & Catholicism hamper the gameplay, and the casting isn’t at it’s strongest. Nothing awful here, but nothing fantastic either 35) 11: Guatemala Our first captains season that unfortunately doesn’t seem to “pop”. Another case of an under-edited winner, there isn’t much great gameplay to speak of. The Mayan temples are however beautiful, and we do get the birth of the Immunity Idol 36) 34: Game Changers Was this Game Changers, or Game Players? Because this cast certainly didn’t feel legendary in the way the theme suggests. The boot order also left a lot to be desired, and we get the messy situation with Varner... if not for a few comedic moments this could have easily slipped down a tier
————
Forget You, Go Home, Goodbye 37) 35: Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers The birth of the fire making twist, which for me did not play out well. Some may enjoy the winners journey here, I ultimately found it disappointing and frustrating. Some lackluster challenges as well as a confusing theme made for an overall letdown of a season 38) 8: All Stars At the time I got swept up in the love story of Rob & Amber, but in re-watching the season there is a lot of saltiness, as well as some ugly situations (Jenna’s departure commentary, Rich & Sue). In wanting to get swept up in gameplay I found very little to be excited about 39) 39: Island of the Idols Obviously we know why this is a bottom tier season, but that aside I do think there was some great characters & moments that save this from being the worst season. The theme was bad to begin with so it was never destined for greatness lol 40) 24: One World I love the theme of putting everyone on one beach, unfortunately the recruitment casting along with the split of men vs women made this season a drag. I love the winner and their gameplay, but there are a lot of forgettable castaways here, not to mention one of the most polarizing player in Colton 41) 21: Nicaragua Not much to love here, a pretty poor cast with some sloppy gameplay and a mild winner. If the most memorable part about the season is two people quitting, you know there’s a problem 42) 22: Redemption Island I guess mileage really varies depending on your love for Boston Rob, but I feel like this season was served to him on a silver platter. I guess it answers the question is it fun to see a big-leaguer play in the minors with the rookies? The answer is no, no it is not 43) 5: Thailand Here it is, the worst season of Survivor. The ugliness and mishandling of the Ghandia & Ted situation, the emotionless cold winner, the pitiful gameplay, it’s all here! I will however never forget that Robb strangled Clay during a challenge and that he brought a skateboard to the jungle!

This week Everything was set, all who were going were ready and so we went to see Evil Dead Rise and boy were those Dead Evil lol
Now in all seriousness I personally am not a big fan of the Evil Dead franchise I have seen the original trilogy and have it on DVD. We went to see the 2013 remake, I read some of the comics and watched the first season of the TV show (I plan to watch the rest at some point) but anyway with all that its not really one of my favorite things. Its more of a "friends" thing like I know ppl who think its the greatest thing and I take part in it becasue they like it. I kinda see it like Zombie stuff I'm not a huge fan of Zombies and it takes alot for me to get interested in that but I'll watch Zombie stuff to make certain friends happy. So with that I wasn't really super interested in going to see this but I went anyway. and it was an alright movie I can say it was very wet and gooey and plenty of sticky bloody messes everywhere lol there was plenty of gore and and grossness but it was so over the top at times that it felt kinda silly in away
As for the story you kinda start at the end of the movie first like the opening sequence is kind of like an epilogue in the grand scheme of the entire story but after that it does a "the day before" type of thing so the entire movie takes place all in one night. It follows a Mother and her 3 kids as they are packing up and getting ready to move becasue the apartment building where they live s being torn down at the end of the month. During the night a storm is raining heavy as the Mother's Sister shows up for a visit. During this the Mother sends the kids out to get a Pizza and on their way back an earthquake happens which opens a hole in the parking garage to a hidden chamber where one of the kids goes in and finds a book "Bound in Human Flesh and penned in Blood" and of course does the stupid thing and takes it home along with some old vinyl records and then while home they are messing with it and open it and release the "Evil" turning their Mom into a Deadite and then she goes on to infect others turning them into one too and it is up to the the Aunt and the kids to stop it if they can..
Now I have to say The visuals and practical make-up and all that were all excellently done the production design on this was pretty amazing. The ripping of the girls scalp off around the first was kinda cool. and the weird monster things where all the Deadites merged into on creature was interesting also and that whole thing with the wood chipper was something.. lol and all the crazy stuff they had Alyssa Sutherland who plays the Mother Ellie do was pretty good but yeah It was all pretty crazy tho
Now I can say it wasn't really scary I didn't feel that it was I didn't jump at anything or feel scared at all it was all I just feel that it was all pretty wild and over the top. I did feel it was a little weird at times and like I said it was all very gooey and blood soaked I do feel that the acting was good and very intense and like I said Alyssa Sutherland who plays the Mother Ellie as soon as she get possessed she totally steals the show!! and everyone else did a great job too I think while filming this they probably had alot of laughs
but other then that it was an alright movie they did do some references to the original movies this one is suppose to have no ties to the originals but they do use some familiar lines and a chainsaw is involved lol but yeah like I said it was alright. If you like the Evil Dead series/franchise you might like this one.

Blatantly Partisan Party Review X (NSW 2023): Public Education Party
Prior reviews of parties related to this entity:
Voluntary Euthanasia Party: federal 2013, VIC 2014, federal 2016, VIC 2018; NSW 2019
Reason Party/Australian Sex Party: federal 2013, VIC 2014, federal 2016, VIC 2018), federal 2019, federal 2022
There has been an interesting and somewhat quixotic evolution here. In 2014, the NSW branch of the Voluntary Euthanasia Party was founded. It became the NSW branch of the Reason Party in 2019, in part because it believed it was too narrow as a single-issue party and wished to ally with a federal party that shared its platform on euthanasia. Then, in 2022, Reason NSW considered winding itself up after state parliament legislated for voluntary assisted dying, and because the party had had a consistent lack of electoral success. Instead, it announced it would merge with the obscure and never-registered Fairer Education Party (so obscure I hadn’t heard of them until the merger), which had been formed in 2021 to promote the interests of government schools.
After this merger, the party changed its name to the Public Education Party. So… now they’re a single-issue party again. Jane Caro, who has been a consistent advocate for public education, led the Reason ticket in NSW at last year’s federal election, so a bunch of us micro-party watchers assumed the name change had something to do with her making a run for state parliament. But she is nowhere to be found on the ballot. There is, though, some continuity with the old Voluntary Euthanasia Party: the registered returning officer of the Public Education Party was the lead candidate for the VEP back at the 2015 NSW state election.
Anyway, you’re absolutely never gonna believe the Public Education Party’s main purpose is to promote government schools and the public education sector. They believe that the sector is underfunded and that governments are routinely reluctant to invest in it properly. The policies about education are, consequently, fairly detailed and seek more equitable funding and other reforms to staffing and resourcing in line with the recommendations of the Gonski Review.
I’m pretty sympathetic to this. I went to public primary schools and a private high school; on reflection, my views are strongly in favour of public education and of funding the system to a much greater extent. To me, many private schools would be best nationalised, and the privileges of elite private schools need to be reined in (and certainly not have their handsome income topped up with public money). Indeed, my views on this are stronger than what the Public Education Party says explicitly, which is simply that public schools should be “the preferred educational setting for young people”.
This party is a single-issue vehicle, unlike the more broadly conceived Reason NSW, and I’ve said many, many times that single-issue parties are conceived too narrowly for the fullness of parliamentary business. The background in Reason NSW means I anticipate this party would generally take a centre-left approach to other policies, but all they say is that they are “advocating for social justice and equity, and fighting for a fairer, more cohesive, and productive society”. This is a motherhood statement that doesn’t tell the prospective voter an awful lot. I cannot give any single-issue party an unqualified endorsement.
Recommendation: Give the Public Education Party a decent preference.

still losing my mind over isaac yeeting out of the movie night with the excuse that he was sick. he absolutely did it to give tao and elle a chance to hang out alone. he knew charlie wasn't going to be there, and as of episode 4, there was no mention of isaac being sick besides that dm.

My #1 post of 2022
reasons why it's very frustrating to be someone who wants to work in a creative industry right now:
warner brothers/hbo/discovery decided to scrap the batgirl movie in post-production before anyone outside of its test audiences could actually see the film
the same company also decided to remove 36 titles from its streaming platform hbo max, several of which were hbo max originals and can no longer be viewed outside of pirating sites, which means the creators will no longer be able to get paid for their work
simon & schuster and penguin random house are in the process of merging. if the DOJ trial doesn't stop the merger, we're going down from having a big five to a big four in the publisher world, with the two of the biggest publishing houses merging.
Barnes & Noble recently decided to stop stocking new middle school books unless they know they're going to be major bestsellers, which multiple new authors didn't find out until weeks before their debuts. B&N accounts for a large chunk of publishing sales for said authors, and limiting what books are available there means debuting authors are mostly screwed unless they put together a massive marketing campaign on their own.

Top Film Producer in India
Top Film Producer in India is the driving force behind the nation’s most iconic films, blending creative vision with strategic execution. These producers play a pivotal role in shaping the Indian film industry, from Bollywood to regional cinemas like Tollywood. Their efforts have brought Indian cinema to global prominence, producing critically acclaimed and commercially successful films. Emerging talents like Deepan Boopathy are redefining the industry with innovative storytelling and ambitious projects. With their ability to merge cultural richness with universal appeal, India’s top producers continue to elevate the cinematic experience, setting new benchmarks for excellence in global filmmaking.
India’s Best Film Producer: Paving the Way for Better Films
The Indian film industry renowned for its diversity and vibrancy amazingly owes its success to the personalities behind the curtains, and that is the producers. A Top Film Producer in India is indeed a financier but, above all, a creative force that orchestrates every phase of filmmaking into cinematic masterpieces. Among such famous names, one is fast coming into reputation; that one is Deepan Boopathy-an emerging light reshaping the Indian film industry with his new kind of approach and passion for storytelling.
The Role of a Top Film Producer in Tollywood’s Success
The Telugu film industry, better known as Tollywood, has grown exponentially in the last decade, producing superb blockbusters that make viewers resonate worldwide. Backing these successes are producers who have the artistic vision accompanied by business acumen. A Top Film Producer in India sees that every element-from scripting to casting and distribution is aligned with the vision of the film.
Just as the manufacturers in the film world of Bollywood and other regional cinemas, the producers of Tollywood always brought the latest innovations in technology so that the cinema produced looks spectacular. It also focuses on developing young talent so that new ideas are able to bloom. This positive approach has raised the status of the Indian film industry to an international level. Movies like Baahubali and RRR set a standard for Indian cinema.
Impact of Indian Film Producers on Global Cinema
The Indian producers influence much more than national borders. With the popularity of Indian films on platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime, Indian cinema reaches a global audience, creating a demand for culturally rich yet universally relatable stories. A Top Film Producer in India understands the subtlety of global storytelling thus making sure the films cater to both the home and international viewers.
Indian filmmakers have also partnered with international studios. This led to co-production where the local story or the local setting is combined with international sensibilities. For example, Life of Pi, shot in India, featured Indian talent in global productions.
A name going more and more well-known for excellence, the Indian film industry recognizes Deepan Boopathy as one who looks for interesting stories and encourages innovative talent in him. He epitomizes the future leaders of Top Film Producers in India.
This film is a testament to understanding the taste of the audience well and experimenting on different genres. Keeping up with a healthy mix of commercial appeal and artistic integrity, Boopathy has pegged himself onto a niche in that highly competitive business called the Indian movie industry. Deepan Boopathy commitment to quality and innovation has established him as key to shaping the future of the business.
Iconic Movies by Indian’s Best Filmmakers
India has produced some landmark films over the years, and these are in large measure because the producers believed in them. Some examples: Karan Johar (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, My Name is Khan):He is famous for emotionally charged family dramas.Aamir Khan (Lagaan, Dangal): Popularised socially relevant films of high quality.Deepan Boopathy: Coming up with promising projects that mesh innovative storytelling with a mass appeal. The Indians have continued raising the bar and bringing films that touch hearts as well as pocketbooks.
Top Indian Film Producers
Top Award-Winning Indian Film Producer is marked with recognition and accolades from reputed national and international forums. For example, Guneet Monga is an Oscar winner in the short film category for The Elephant Whisperers. Deepan Boopathy is one who has been trailing, though with successive successes.
Indian producers do not rest on their laurels but continue to push the creative envelope and raise those bars to inspire, guide, or just push the global filmmaking community to other levels. Whether it is groundbreaking content undertaken in a quest to elevate Indian cinema on the world stage, these visionaries make sure that the industry itself remains a powerhouse of creativity.
The Top Film Producer in India becomes the main pillar not only for the promotion of the national industry but also for situating Indian cinema at a particular point within the world of cinema. Indian cinema’s future now looks much brighter with talents like Deepan Boopathy emerging in the industry.

Alongside my personal design piece, I wanted some really fluid type. This 502 project has enabled me to explore new skills and areas to experiment with; especially on Illustrator. Some of the product designing I have been apart of has welcomed me to play with typography more so than the typography project from year 1. My collaging style has played a big part in these new type techniques I'm enjoying. Merging two existing typefaces to make new characteristics feels really exciting and I wanted to continue with this curiosity into my personal project.
I started off with the font, IM FELL DW Pica Italic which is the font used in Taylor Swifts album; Folklore. Keeping with my chosen Artist inspiration and my aims with this piece, I began to distort the text into something new. I did this using the Glyph feature on Illustrator which allows you to look at different variations of letters and symbols and I began to look for certain characteristics and interesting areas which I could pull out and adapt into the chosen letters. I liked the word Illicit as it adds to my contextual research and personal ironic goals with this piece and the hatred and conriversiy this particular artist can face sometimes.
Collin's Dictionary describes the word Illicit as 1. not legally permitted or authorized; unlicensed; unlawful. 2. disapproved of or not permitted for moral or ethical reasons. I wanted to play with the sense of confidentiality and secrecy once I realised where my piece was going.
Above you can see in the top right some of the chosen glyph symbols I liked and used within my final outcome. I used the Shape Builder and the pen tool to combine and expand the type into this whimsical/ grungy outcome. I am slightly curious to see how this would compliment my floral piece because I think both can stand strongly alone and I don't want to overcrowd my piece which I am used to doing.

4th and FINAL BLOG
After our lecture series, we dived into preparing for our demo day and pitching! It is an event wherein each section under GEE 16 are going to present their best team to compete for a pitching. The chosen teams are different business proposal that were merged together and their business proposal aims to provide a safe space for people to concentrate, hold a private meeting, and especially to study. There is also a mini cafe, so that the costumers could also have a drink or snacks while staying in Casa Quillo. In terms of studying, Casa Quillo also provides tutor services to the students who are having a hard time studying. So, in short Casa Quillo is like a haven for studying. In order to prepare for the demo day, the whole section worked hand in hand so that Casa Quillo will be a success. Other groups prepared for the promotional video, while the other groups prepared for the pitch deck and other more important things. It was a challenging one, as we we're kinda pressured cause we will be competing with higher years too, and also with other colleges that are focused on business. Still, we did our very best to show good results at the demo day. It was an amazing day, cause we we're given an opportunity to listen to many interesting startups. We were able to valuable experience as we dived into their ideas and ways of presenting their startups. After the pitch, one of the judges gave a comment that needs to be remembered. He said that as a startup, we should start small, we shouldn't dive into a business that is too demanding. Casa Quillo was a lot, it had a lot of elements like the cafe, study services and also a study area. It was an eyeopener, as a week before our pitch, I learned about MVP, the term "minimum viable product," or "MVP," refers to a product with just enough features to draw early adopters and verify a product concept. Though our startup could draw customers, we confirmed it by validating, it was not an MVP, it was like the final phase of a business. I realized that we could have started small, like we could only focus on the tutoring services first, and if it succeeded, then we could slowly upgrade into a study area, in the end, we didn't make it to top 10. Well, it's fine since it was still a blast. I've learned a few other thing as well. For example, I now know that when creating a pitch deck, we should concentrate more on the main features of the product and save the specifics for later because it is very limited and if you include the specifics, you won't be able to finish your pitching. Additionally, you should make sure that your revenue exceeds both your fixed and variable costssince if you can't turn a profit, your business isn't actually a business.
It’ been a journey and I couldn’t trade my experiences and learnings in GEE 16 all thanks to our instructor, Ms. Shigella Hebra. Starting from the day we were tasked to think of a business proposal that could be the solutions to a problem and that could help secure funding, partnerships, and new clients up until to the final pitching is a very great experience. Throughout the time, where me and my groupmates share unique ideas, skills and talents, validations, having a little problem making our business proposal, and all necessary things we have to do to makes us do well and improve. Also, I’ve learned that business is not easy, there are so many things to consider, and it won’t be that simple and the flow won’t be so smooth. There are no easy success, trials and failures will come but with good planning, and being tenacious, you will be achieving the result even better than what you are expecting. Moreover, in business, we should learn from our failures and mistakes. "Continuous learning is the minimum requirement for success in any field." — Denis Waitley
This won’t be the end, but it’s an another start for a new beginning! Until next time!

This is actually a really interesting and kinda funny way to see it for me.
Lots of words after the cut about it, but I don't want to clog up everyone's feeds with it.
TLDR; I studied art in the form of graphic design and I essentially dropped out of it near the end because the lack of structure at that point meant I was struggling to complete work that was bad when I did.
I went to college for Graphic Design because of my art interests, and as I was undiagnosed with anything (I'm for sure ADHD, and fairly certain more than that but the rest is unconfirmed), the structured environment of school stuff up to then was what kept me generally going in terms of actually getting anything done. I never really studied, I did homework generally just before it was due, and I managed to graduate with over a 4.0 GPA, getting Magna Cum Laude ropes, but not the higher one (Summa Cum Laude?).
Getting to the college level, the classes with less structure were actually way harder for me (though I definitely didn't realize that was the problem), with the typically structured classes getting good grades, but I constantly avoided lectures that I wasn't required to attend, and often got by in design classes by turning in barely finished projects that I usually completed the literal night before in a rush.
I managed to get enough of a handle on that through frustration (and probably through how I often I was able to work on things alongside others) that I managed to pass the portfolio review at the end of the second year, and I honestly did some reasonably okay work so long as guidelines were clear and I was interested enough in the project.
...I then did a mediocre job at keeping up through the third year, turning out one or two decent things, but the design classes were overall a lot more technical than project focused, so I stuck with it. I was stressed out beyond belief, doing terrible work, and subconsciously doing everything in my power to get out of the classes on a regular basis, up to and including being physically ill in the mornings from what were probably stomach ulcers.
It was at the beginning of the senior year where the class structure changed from something more standard to a setup with everyone still in my group of the program merging into a single classroom/lab space focused on completing work more like that in a real-world design agency (including some especially large projects and the potential to do work for an actual client at I think two different points of the year). On top of that, since it was my senior year, I was finally able to move off-campus to a shared apartment with some friends, and so I had a much harder time sharing space with other people who were working on similar projects unless I traveled onto campus outside of standard class hours (even though most other people did).
While most people were excited to have the freedom and get more used to the "real-world" situation, I was floundering and could barely get anything done. The lack of structure, including mostly free-reign on ideas and implementation, and the dramatically less interesting subject matter of most of the projects (to me personally at least), meant that I was making bad designs and struggling to get them finished at all. For example, I remember three specific projects during that first semester of senior year, each of which had an element randomly assigned to us:
A booklet promoting a variety of decorative plant, which were mostly specific groups of flowers, but for which I ended up with ornamental grasses (which are perfectly fine, but I had zero interest in, and honestly felt like a wildly more difficult subject than others got), and I made something as ugly and boring as it felt
A logo design which would later include additional materials for what I believe was supposed to be a specific/niche product shop, for which I got decorative tile (which again, already felt specific, and then most of my concepts for it were turned down as they were too similar to existing shops, so maybe I just had bad luck on top of my executive dysfunction)
A poster design highlighting one of a selection of semi-famous buildings, which I believe was still somewhat in progress at the end of the semester. I remember I pulled a Palazzo, but even after just googling a bit, I can't remember which one. For that, I had made a garish-looking pile of beige shapes on a blue background with a pretty pathetic overall concept
I was struggling so much at the end of that first semester that the professors of the program pulled me aside and essentially asked if I still wanted to be doing the whole design thing or if I would be better off doing something else, because they didn't want me to end up failing and needing to do a whole additional year of college or more to make up for it. I ended up switched to basically a "catch-all" degree the school offered (Integrative Studies), that would allow me to make use of everything I'd done and just take a few more general classes to help round things out, and I am so glad I did that.
All that is I guess to say, creative programs are definitely not for everyone, myself clearly included. Some people hate the structure and the rules, and other people can't work without them. My experience in this may not be relatable, but I have to say, I still have that feeling sometimes of enjoying a project more if there are some reasonable guidelines and limitations, because then it's not just the project, it's also solving a problem, and gosh is it satisfying to solve a problem.
I could never go to art school. You mean I have to be creative... within rules and on a time limit? My executive dysfunction would get me kicked out inside a week
