tom19.wad: Time Of Maps - Part 1 MAP01 (368, 784, 96) Author: TimeOfDeath (Chris Balch) Date: 2009-09-27 Description: TOM is a boom compatible wad that uses only doom2 format line actions (except some boom light transfers) and sector effects. -complevel 9 in PrBoom-Plus is required for some rising stairs and "floor lower to 8 above highest floor" behaviour. Some maps don't work properly in ZDoom. This isn't intended to be a traditional map set. Instead, it's a compilation of random maps and mapping experiments (for me) with random themes that are sorted by date (mostly), rather than difficulty. Each map is intended to be learned and memorized from a pistol start and recorded on for max runs (not all maps also have an intended speed route). I imagine playing most of these maps without learning them would probably be pretty annoying. The point of the maps is to learn them, plan a route, and record a demo as fast as you can. Most of the maps are bfg-oriented or rocket/plasma-oriented and most people probably won't like the gameplay. Most of the maps are remakes of levels from other games. All of the remakes were built by looking around in-game in the original levels, counting floor and wall tiles to figure out heights and lengths, standing in corners and seeing where other corners line up, using a ruler and the in-game map to figure out general room sizes, etc. The Quake remakes were also built that way (I didn't look in a Quake editor). Though, there are still differences in appearance between the originals and remakes. If you're a fan of any of the games I did remakes of, I think it could be cool to check out these maps even if you don't like the gameplay (play on skill 3 - hurt me plenty - to play the maps without monsters). Intended to be played with these options, if you want: CATEGORY 1 (INTENDED) - prboom-plus 2.5.0.1+ - kills/items/secrets/timer HUD (with "smart totals" turned off) - any resolution + uncapped fps - custom key config for weapons - -longtics - no TAS features (unless you specify your demo is TAS) - turn180 if you use keyboard only CATEGORY 2 - zdoom - freelook + jumping turned on - infinitely tall actors turned off - no bfg aiming - custom key config for weapons - no crouch My key config in PrBoom-Plus is: WASD movement, M1 fire, SHIFT shotgun, R chaingun, Q rocket, E plasma, F bfg, SPACE use, ALT strafe on, MOUSE turning (sometimes arrow keys with my right hand for long sr50) My key config in ZDoom is: WASD movement, M1 fire, M2 jump, Q prev weap, E next weap, SPACE use, ALT strafe on, SHIFT center view, always mouselook, never auto-aim, no BFG aiming, dot crosshair. ///////////// // MAPLIST // ///////////// MAP01 - released April 7, 2009 Don't wake up the revenants MAP02 - released April 12, 2009 Silent Hill 2 remake of the first part of Rosewater Park MAP03 - released April 16, 2009 Silent Hill 2 remake of the start area MAP04 - released April 22, 2009 Silent Hill 2 remake of the Courtyard in the Woodside Apartments MAP05 - released April 26, 2009 Doesn't work in ZDoom MAP06 - released May 11, 2009 Doom2 format version of smedley.wad. Doom2.wad map01 remake built from scratch (no copy/pasting) exactly like the original, with some new areas. A secret area is a remake of the starting room and a hallway in Quake E3M3. Rocket jumping is required to reach that secret area in ZDoom. MAP07 - released May 19, 2009 Quake E3M4 remake of the first room MAP08 - released May 27, 2009 Doom2 format version of first part of dekutree.wad. Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake of Inside the Deku Tree. MAP09 - released July 2, 2009 Doom2 format version of second part of dekutree.wad. Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake of Inside the Deku Tree. MAP10 - released July 3, 2009 Doom2 format version of last part of dekutree.wad. Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake of Inside the Deku Tree. MAP11 - released July 18, 2009 For practising 2-bfg-shot kills on cybers and long sr50. Similar design to Espi's pe.wad MAP12 - released June 6, 2009 Doom.wad E1M1 remake from memory, after not having played/seen the original map in about 1 year, with doom2 monsters. It was Creaphis' idea. Also appears in e1m1mem.zip, e1m1mem2.wad map01. MAP13 - released March 6, 2009 Doom2 format + single player version of my 2 sectors deathmatch map in 2sector.wad (map07) from July 2006. Originally released as seaburt.wad in March 2009 MAP14 - released July 30, 2009 Doom2 format version of map27 from chips19.wad. Remake of level 27 from Chip's Challenge. Also turned out to be a 1024-style map. MAP15 - released July 16, 2009 Doom2 format version of my first five maps put into one map. The original maps are from dib28a.wad and were made in 2005 MAP16 - released September 1, 2009 My attempt at making an Oblige-like map from scratch. MAP29 - demo map Map28 from dib28a.wad. My unfinished attempt at making cave architecture from 2006. MAP30 - released September 20, 2009 A map with 2 sectors that will certainly be hated by most, if not all. MAP31 - released July 30, 2009 Map11 with the cybers facing you. MAP32 - released July 30, 2009 Doom2 format version of two of the last rooms from flanagan.wad. Also shows a Doom "bug" (?) where you can walk through certain impassible walls if your map takes up 32768 units or more, either south-north or west-east. Doesn't work in ZDoom.

Reconciliation Klaine fics:
(Kurt and Blaine break up and you follow them finding each other again)
Down on the corner by flowerfan:
AU after Season 5/ Alt!s6. Blaine went back to Lima after the breakup, but Kurt stayed in New York. They do in fact reunite on the corner outside the loft in six months, but it doesn't go as either of them expected. Over the course of the next year, Blaine struggles to find himself, and Kurt struggles to find Blaine. And while they both realize that love doesn’t necessarily conquer all, they discover that it definitely helps.
Tw: depression.
Here comes the sun by flowerfan:
AU after 5x02. When the New Directions’ bus crashes before Nationals, Finn is killed and Blaine is badly injured. Grieving and damaged, Kurt and Blaine call off their engagement. This story takes place two years after the tragedy, when Kurt and Blaine run into each other in New York City. Klaine; Blam friendship.
The Woods series by flowerfan:
Freshly graduated from music school, Blaine is thrilled when he is chosen to stay in the cast when the production of Into the Woods he was lucky enough to be part of in Boston moves to Broadway. He knows it’s going to be hard returning to New York City – the scene of his epic breakup with his fiancé and the emotional meltdown which cost him his place at NYADA. But he’s determined that this time, everything will be different. Little does Blaine know that out of thousands of potential castmates, his director has chosen none other than Kurt Hummel to play the part of Jack. Blaine has worked hard to recover from their breakup three years ago, and struggles to find a new way to relate to Kurt and simultaneously protect himself, especially when tragedy strikes.
This story looks at what would have happened if Kurt and Blaine had reacted differently to the break up in 6x01 than they did in canon; if events hadn’t brought them back together as soon, and if forgiveness hadn’t come so easily.
Canon compliant through the end of season 5 (and the breakup as described in 6x01).
Only one by catcat87:
AU after Season 4 The Breakup episode. Blaine and Kurt never reconciled after their breakup. Now, it is 3 years later. Blaine is about to release his debut album, Only One, which he wrote all the songs about his relationship with Kurt. Kurt may have moved on with another guy, but Blaine is still very much in love with Kurt. Will their paths cross again? Will Kurt finally be able to forgive Blaine and rebuild their friendship? Maybe more? Or will fame and jealousy get in their way.
Hurricane by a-phase-that-cuts-these-lips:
Two years after Kurt and Blaine's messy divorce, Kurt finally wins full custody of their daughter after a long and painful battle. A week later, Blaine attempts suicide. He has no one else to turn to, and Kurt volunteers to take him in, believing that he can rehabilitate Blaine. The man he fell in love with is still in there, somewhere - he just has to figure out how to bring him back. The process, however, won't be easy for anyone.
Significant others by lovely_sparkle:
Five years after a nasty college break up, Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson are leading very different lives than they expected. Kurt is a successful assistant fashion designer, engaged, and a father-to-be. Blaine is struggling with a failed college career, depression, and drug addiction, ultimately alone. What brought them to those points in their lives, and what happens when they meet one another again?
The awakening by LauGS:
I think it'll be clear as you read the story, but in case it's necessary to point it out, this is a future fic, but the characters' past remains canon until 4x04. So... yeah, the whole break-up deal is just as we've seen it in the show. It takes a different path from there. Let's just say that this is my version of what would have happened if Kurt and Blaine hadn't gotten back together.
One day left by anxioussquirrel:
Kurt and Blaine broke up before Kurt went to New York. The five years since then have been grinding Blaine down and it finally breaks him. He decides to kill himself, but when he's got everything organized, he realizes he wants just one good day to take with him. A day with Kurt.
Married by nadiacreek:
When the Supreme Court strikes down DOMA, Kurt and Blaine impulsively get married on the spur of the moment even though they were still broken up. They resolve not to tell anyone, and set about working their way through married life and wedding planning while trying not to spill their secret.
Cradled so tenderly by BlurtItAllOut:
This is a story which follows canon up to the episode 4:04 "The Break Up" - and then it diverts. Kurt and Blaine never talked out their issues, they never reconciled. I don't think I stray far from canon, I just imagine what would have happened if Kurt didn't reach out a hand and tried to forgive Blaine and continue their friendship back then. It obviously lead to some changes. This story is set approximately some five years after Kurt's graduation.
Come what may by MrsCriss2012:
Four years ago, Blaine Anderson broke Kurt Hummels heart when he left. Now a smart and successful lawyer and poised to take over the family firm, Blaine is a shadow of the man he used to be. Struggling with conflicting emotions surrounding his parents, and trying to live in a world without his one true love, Blaine must discover who he really wants to be.
A toast to the future (but that’d be a lie) by CoffeeAddict80:
Kurt & Blaine never got back together after the first breakup, and Kurt stayed with Adam. Two-and-a-half years later, Kurt and Adam get engaged. Santana believes that Kurt is marrying Adam for all the wrong reasons and that he’s still in love with Blaine. So, she schemes to get Kurt and Blaine back together by inviting Blaine to Kurt’s engagement party.
The bones of you by stoney: (only available to Ao3 members)
It's been over 5 years since Kurt and Blaine broke up after Blaine's graduation from McKinley. Blaine is working on his M.Phil (masters) in Cambridge, UK, when a well-meaning friend sends him a link to a video. And everything in his life changes.
All I ever need is everything by pene:
After years apart Kurt and Blaine have moved on from one another and built separate lives. Kurt is developing a quiet reputation off-Broadway. Blaine is a fledgling musical theatre writer and producer on the West Coast.
Then they reconnect - because of the music, because of the theater. Because of course they do.
"This show is Blaine’s baby. The madness is that the only person he can picture in the lead role is a boy he has been failing to forget for six years."
#klaine fanfiction#im finally reading ‘the bones of you’#and all i needed was everything is on my too read

Tel Aviv 2019: Straight outta Slovenia to Eurovision with a dreamy couple
youtube
Oh boi, now here comes another NF I wasn’t interested in. I don’t hate EMA as a thing, it’s just that it’s infamous for not listening to what people want most of the time, often axing their faves (BQL, Raiven, Nika Zorjan, even going as far back as Saša Lendero and Nina Pušlar...). This year it seemed like Raiven finally had what it takes with her post-dubstep-era dubstep tune, “Kaos”. BUT did she go? Oh nope
Instead we got possibly the best thing that ever happened to Slovenia. That thing is this one entry sung by a cute crossover of Lorde and that trombone fetus thing from Courage the Cowardly Dog (well, at least she looks better than him, hence why ‘cute’), Zala Kralj, and she has her 2-year-long partner Gašper Šantl by her side too, to make up the musical part for the couple’s Eurovision 2019 entry for Slovenia, “Sebi”.
Let’s start reviewing this by complimenting its atmosphere. It’s cosmic. It’s pure. It’s pleasant. I feel like I’m floating among the stars... in the same way as if someone is projecting a star backdrop on a wall and I’m just against the projection, dancing silly. I feel like I’m covered in stardust. This is achieved by the composition of the song, which is very melodic, although a bit background-music-like. It incorporates a lot of those softened hi-hats, soaring synth waves and harmonious additional backing vocals (I think I heard those? whatever that was that adds more depth and gorgeousness to the song...). The lyrics are also cute, the poetry here is pretty fascinating, and I love the hints of intimacy and nature. The chorus reminds me that you have to stay true to what you are and who you stand for, and you don’t need to apologize for being different. Something along the lines of this. And Zala sounds like a person that could do a vocal ASMR therapy - and I imagine that as something that gives tingles to my neck everytime I hear it. You just need to strip the melody away and let me listen to more of those silent, soft-spoken, eerie whispers, and usually I feel creeped out and want it to stop, but at the same time it’s seducing and oddly enough I want some more.
This song has its faults though - it’s supposedly the song being repetitive (look at that chorus’ lyrics, just repeating 3 lines during it doesn’t really suffice, especially with the song being composed like THAT), Zala’s vocals being so hauntingly chill they even sound too calming or too monotonous, and this song is a simple electronic track with it just flowing all so well? Like, it’s something you’d find more on an unknown project’s Bandcamp page and that project usually has 1500 views or so on their videos. It’s a soothing ocean, it’s a galaxy, but sometimes the silence overwhelms you too much you just want to fucking scream... or fall asleep and miss the beauty of it all.
So as a whole it’s a stellar ride through galaxies and supernovas: the song. Great production, slight lo-fi vibe (idk how to explain it but everything here feels so... hmm... soft tune and quiet vocals make it to be something of the more indie-er side of a lower-cost production I suppose?) and sparks of pure bliss raining down on me whenever I remember or hear it. Truly, truly some indie goodness.
The most interesting part? The guys seem too overwhelmed about their Eurovision experience! Sure, Eurovision doesn’t require a too-laidback approach from the participants, but there always are Eurovision non-enthusiasts (seriously, don’t yell at Eurovision participants on Youtube comments when they fail to recognize a language of a song’s from a previous year! Just because they didn’t hear it and/or forgot the language, doesn’t mean they need to be put at stake), or those who just didn’t expect to win their NFs and then are like “shit um now I need to do something about that Eurovision thing I guess”. Salvador never really watched it before, AWS didn’t really hope to participate in Eurovision at the early stages of their NF, now we don’t really hear much Eurovision news and shit from these two Slovenians... well except of them releasing a shortened version of their song so it could comply to Eurovision’s lenght rules (giving it an apt sub title - “Dare to Dream Version”), declaring that one line of the song’s will be sung in English so that everyone not speaking in Slovenian could understand it better (just like Lea sang the end of “Hvala, ne!” in Portuguese because... well we all understand either of them, do we? lol) and that their staging will be similar to the one they had in EMA, and that their stage clothes won’t be the same but of a similar light color. They do have Eurovision in mind, but not quite as much as some other participants, and that’s perfectly fine. As long as they do their job right, that matters.
Approval factor: I may let you in on a little secret here - this is, in fact, my absolute favourite Slovenian entry this decade, if not overall. I have a hard time approving Slovenian entries because they end up lacking something at the end. This one... kinda fits in well with me, so Zala and Gašper did enough of THAT to warrant a big fat thumbs up for me.
Follow-up factor: Wasn't a big fan of Lea's song, BUT I can confirm that she started something good for Slovenia in Eurovision, especially after qualifying. And the couple certainly continued it, so it moves on well! ^^
Qualification factor: Now that's an interesting question... I might be wrong but a part of me fears for them to become the fan favourite duo/couple with a really pretty song that doesn’t qualify, like it already happened to Norma John and ZiBBZ before. They even have been drawn to semifinal 1, ffs. But maybe there’s still a spark of hope somewhere for the two, and I’d be inclined to believe that there is. I don’t wanna see sLOVEnia flop on the year I like their song, ffs. So I’m seeing a borderline result for thee, you the nation of usually fairly-underrated songs. Maybe this cosmic sea beauty will be in them finals.
NATIONAL FINAL BONUS
So, EMA 2019, eh? I guess that was a thing that happened. I at least admire the fact that they used dancing robots for their “not-so-postcards-but-postcards” that played before each performance (I mean, you’d get camera shots of the stage being set up for the act to perform next with their info graphic in the NF’s LED background and next to it there was a re-creation of The Creation of Adam with the other hand being one of a robot’s <3, then cut to EMA’s visual design of the year and the dancing robot person, another shot to the performing act, and then lights out). They had a good time there. And there was a duet singing Salvador Sobral’s ESC winning song, one of them performed by a person who had to be Salvador for a TV show. Ah, fun. I wasn’t all in up for the she-bang (instead I watched A Dal Semi 2 and Supernoval final on that night), but I got some other goodies that I noticed that people noticed before me, for y’all to reminisce. Here are some moments and some songs that lost to this lovely pair:
• So what’s the deal with Raiven, anyway? She’s on the show for her third time, and has already firmly grasped onto the iconic NF partaker’s status, together with.. well... other NF 3-timers (that are mostly from Sweden). This time she went all her way out to prove y’all that “dubstep’s not dead in 2019!!!1″ with her song, “Cows” “Kaos”, and a rather interesting effect show taking place on her face. I don’t know why but Raiven’s and Aly Ryan’s from Germany stagings remind me of each other, maybe because of them being so interesting? Anyway, like as usually, this multicolored songstress failed to grasp the victory of her country’s national final, and honestly, good for that to happen because in my irrelevant opinion, the dubstep in “Kaos” is ridiculously unnecessary and it doesn’t make the song flow very well. Just rework the chorus to make it more suited to the song and maybe it could have worked, as the last 30 seconds and the verses actually rock! I love me some songs that make me feel like I’m listening to sunset transcribed to actual melodies and sounds.
youtube
• The 2015 entrant couple, Raay and Marjetka, are incredibly restless for some reason, and it’s that because they have co-written quite a few songs over the past few years even since their eventual victory as themselves in 2015. Maybe they’re the Slovenian Stig Rästa, probably as in “we loved the Eurovision green room experience so we always want some more!” kind of way. This year they did 2 songs: an electro-swing inspired number about Fridays and “spending some quality time with one’s girls” for the Slovene JESC debutee Ula Ložar and a radio-pop-esque track for a lady named Kim (not Verson). The one that I gravitated towards more will have its video down below and it is probably obvious a bit now. And if it was my will, I’d’ve replaced Raiven with the below lady in the superfinal because... frankly, yet again, I’ll restate that imo it wasn’t Raiven’s year even without the eventual winners having participated...
youtube
• For a country of whose NF’s I didn’t seem to care about, they indeed had quite a few nice numbers. I already shed my thoughts on 2 of them, now here’s another one. Somehow, most countries out there shied away from having rock songs (well except Hungary because I don’t really see any other NF with more than 3 of those clearly audible rock/metal tracks, maybe has to do with the fact they already sent one last year), and as a result, none of the actually submitted ones won because things didn’t really go well with even the slightest rock-sounding songs last year (except one of them almost got into top 10). So one of the rock gems we happened to lose came from Slovenia. INMATE brought the 00s American alt-rock sound that was popular with uncomfortable teens that acted outrageous with their song “Atma” (which somehow means “soul”??). And man they were banging.
youtube
• There’s not much I want to say about the rest of the NF’s gems that you missed. Well, there was one song about horses that is considerably well-received by the fandom, perhaps because of the slow and relaxing ballad sound that surrounds it (but they don’t know the lyrics enough to start hating it). And a song co-written by last year’s Svenskfloppen winner that, as he was destined to, flopped in Melodifestivalen as well. And a decent club track that was actually one of my other favourites, together with “Atma”. And some 00s teen sitcom theme song performed by a completely-careless-about-their-image-band (they call themselves Lumberjack but they dress nothing like ‘em, I assure you) with chill-surfer-attitude-bearing, long-haired lead singer. They brought in a nice vibe at least with their color-splashing LED images and slightly energetic performance. And like I said about how the lead singer looked... well just look at him and try to not see him as a troublemaker teen archetype from a high school rom com or at least irl that can’t score a date:
Damn, Manel Navarro really let himself go.
• Lea Sirk, besides performing the ESC winning song from two years ago in a duet with someone, and obviously re-appearing to be a honourable guest after having won EMA last year after like 4-5 tries, also served her part as a jury member. Y’know, one of those people that maybe visibly or not visibly tried to push Raiven to her eventual EMA win after her 3 tries so that she wouldn’t become an annoying NF hogger for years on end. Well that didn’t happen because the televoters went for the Zalšper couple! You gotta love it when the teleaudience picks that song for Eurovision that is performed by those that didn’t specifically submit it because they wanted Eurovision, right? Well apparently, Lea took the loss of Raiven as a small stab to her heart and was heard complaining about the unexpected outcome (simply not being able to believe Raiven lost), out loud, to the viewing audiences at home and in front of computer screens. Yep, THAT happened... And I couldn’t be bothered to find a clip of it anymore, so instead I’ll post some pictures of a visibly shook Lea with her new hairdye on fleek (I guess that was to reflect Raiven’s love for hair dye?):
noooo why do I have to give a trophy to those whom I did not support to win... well fine I will
With all that out of the way, I just really hope for this lovey-dovey duo all the best possible with having to carry the responsibility of representing a country in a very big European music competition on their shoulders. They aren’t seemingly stressed out themselves from the looks of it (if they were in a Brantsteele’s Hunger Games simulation, they’d be those people who’d pick flowers all the time), but you know what happens when you’re given such a big honour but you let what the honour stands for down, upsetting the others who look up to the honour somehow. Terrible, terrible things. Hope the haters don’t grind these two down if anything happens. Srečno!

Top 5 moments that define you as an rper and writer
Warning: This response got out of hand fast. I am not goingback through it before posting it, so this is a raw, unedited mess of emotionsand memories. You have been warned.
1.My mom told me that when I was about three orfour years old, she found me sitting in the living room with a stack ofnewspapers and a pen. I was too young to have a pen, because of my penchant todraw on myself and walls, so she endeavored to diplomatically trade me a crayonfor the pen. She asked me what I was drawing, as part of the opening negotiationsand I was immediately offended. “I’m not drawing! I’m writing!” By that pointin my life I was just tracing the letters in the headlines of the paper, but I insistedthere was a distinction between drawing and writing.
While this wasn’t really a big dealat the time, because I don’t actually remember the argument, the story is reallyheartwarming. It is something I think about when I feel the worst about mywriting. It may be silly to some, but it just feels right. Writing feels right, like it is something I am meant to do, even if I am not the best at it.
2. I started roleplaying in middle school, 6thgrade, I think. I didn’t have the internet at my house and I didn’t even know peopleroleplayed online. I started out roleplaying with tabletop games. We startedout with super basic stats and used dice sparingly. We played during our lunch periodand I fell in love with my character. Her name was Xayrien (Zair-ian). She wasan elven cleric. Much of her character sheet was filled out by a friend and heput in a bunch of min-max considerations I never utilized.
It was all very chaotic and turnedinto something that was part tabletop Dungeons and Dragons, and part liveaction roleplay. My character kept a journal a part of her persona, and I spentmany study halls writing down the adventures our party embarked on. When we allgraduated, I some of my friends copies of that journal and we all had a goodlaugh about how dorky we were / are.
3. I started playing World of Warcraft just beforeBurning Crusade was released. I didn’t have my first max character for nearly ayear into the expansion, but I quickly became a dedicated raider. From therelease of Zul’Aman until the beginning of Cataclysm, I even ran a raidingguild.
However, I wanted to try somethingelse. After a few trips on level 1 human alts to see what the fuss was aboutMoon Guard’s Goldshire (as immortalized in various Youtube videos our raid teamwatched) I decided to actually try rping in game. I rolled a Draenei priest, named Xayrien, and reached out to help with a Hallow’s End event. I was supershy about rping with people and I made a lot of mistakes. However, I loved itand decided to try rp on a different game.
4.I consider my time on Rift my officialroleplaying origins. I loved the graphics and story, so I adapted a characterto the setting and ran with it. I met three of my dearest friends while roleplayingmy characters Saoirsetala (Searsha-tahla) and Sicaria (Olivia’s origincharacter). I have met them all in real life and love them dearly.
The biggest influence on my writingand roleplaying came from my interactions with a few guilds and the efforts Iput into creating community content. The storylines I ran often started smallbut would reach out to others who were looking for ways to break into thescene. It has always been important to me to include others where I could, fromtable top sessions to MMO rp.
5. Olivia and her Tumblr are the biggest and mostrecent defining factors for me. I started character Tumblrs when I was playingGW2, but I didn’t really connect with people until last October when I startedworking diligently on Olivia’s page and story. Through Tumblr, I have learnedso much more about different methods of roleplaying and have met so many greatinfluences through various forms of contact on the site. I have felt pushed towrite more consistently. I write every day, using more of my free time toexpress myself. Even if I don’t post to my character blogs, I am writing and itjust feels good.
I struggled with this ask for a fewdays, even panicking a little when I received a second version of the same questionwhile trying to figure out how to respond. I doubt that I have concisely summedup just how important writing is to me, and it feels a little hollow to leavethese points as they are, but I tend to get very nervous about discussingwriting with others. It is something I am very passionate about, while at the sametime feeling inadequate about sharing anything I write. I rarely like anythingI write and often times obsess and worry over a piece before I post it. Then, Iwatch the notes, not because I need them to validate me, but because I amafraid people will actually read what I write. It is a wholly irrational fear, because I know, logically, I am in no danger. Still, the flight response is strong.
In spite of all my irrational worries, though, I have met some really solid writers during my time here. They are thereason I no longer succumb to crushing despair when it comes to my writing. Oneperson, in fact, is the reason I am publicly participating in National NovelWriting Month, this year. Looking at you, @maluraunderchild ! I want to tag others, aswell, which I will do at the end, but Tumblr and the WoW roleplayers I haveconnected with here have been a huge help to getting me out of my shell moreoften.
Thank you for this ask (both versions) @news-nerd! I am suremy response is a rambling mess, but I am not going back to read through it becauseI won’t have the courage to post it.
I also want to thank the people I have met through mywriting and roleplaying journey, which is really a much bigger part of what influencesme as a writer. Although I didn’t meet @celestial-petal or @toomany-elves on Tumblr, I metthem through roleplay and they are truly my best friends. As mentioned above, Malurahas been a magnificent influence upon me and I owe her endless gratitude. @marquis-teren-kiden was one of the first roleplayers I interacted with here on Tumblr and I have anot so secret crush on the Mun’s writing. @karrista, @luminary-collection, @summerbloom-fae, and @adilynia aremore recent acquaintances, but they make up such a supportive group of writersI am in heaven interacting with each of them. @ranekvilmas has also been a wonderfullypatient and supporting writing partner, along with @darthea-the-demon and @allseeker-wra who havebeen writing with me on Olivia’s current misadventures in Kul Tiras.
Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart, for supportingand writing with me.

This is an add-on/update to the game Ao-Oni by noprops.
The main goal of this game is to add interesting extras and different
modes without drastically changing the tone of the game too much. If you
have never played the original/unmodified versions of Ao-Oni before, I
highly suggest you play this before any of them, as it would be a better experience for
horror and story, but if you would like, go ahead and play the V6 version
and compare it.
# Story
You and your friends journey into an abandoned mansion on the outskirts of town. It's rumored that there is a monster that lives there.
# Gameplay
The basic gameplay can be so impactful. You find items that help you progress through the mansion, while the Oni is chasing after you, you may find and hide in cabinets, or run away. The multiple endings and choices in the game will lead to a different experience each playthrough.
**~What changed? What will be added?~**
I changed a lot, and you'll have to find what I changed, and I feel as if I did a pretty
fantastic job at not failing for the most part. I plan to add a 'Comical Mode', where I
would make the Oni less scary, and change the dialogue to a more, comical, humorous type.
**Expect hours of gameplay if new, or trying to get all the endings.**
What's new in this version:
---------------------------
Mika Mode - Play as Mika
Takuro Mode - Play as Takuro
Takeshi Mode - Alpha stage, not finished but playable, expect some graphical and dialogue errors.
New Onis - Giant Oni and Leechum. They only appear in Mika Mode and Takuro Mode during
specific scenes. I will likely change this/add this to a different
part or possibly have it occur in different areas.
New Alt-Costume for Mika - This one replaces her alt-attire from the
previous demo. It now uses the graphics from Vampire Mika as opposed
to the rough guess that was my sprite edit before. Said older sprite
will likely make an appearance as a different alt-costume in a future
release.
Secret Area - A new, secret area has been added to the game. Where can
it be, and what's waiting for you within it? You'll have to play through
and find out. *Been there, coded that. -Hoodie 2k16*
Changed answers to some puzzles - So experts can't speedrun first try.
-NOTE-
On the Secret Area, there are three new items called 'Hint Cards' that
have been scattered through-out the game. They will give you clues on
what you can go about doing and perhaps point you in the general
direction of how to reach the secret area. I won't tell you exactly
where they are, but I will say this...
One of the Hint Cards is located in the first part of the Mansion.
Another one is hidden in the Annex.
And another is located in the Annex's Basement.
Find them and try to piece together their clues in order to reach the
secret area, and be rewarded with something awesome.
(diszxchat: something stupid)
What I will eventually add:
---------------------------
- More new Onis to chase the player around
- Potentially some new/changed spots for the Oni to pop out in
- A ton of other new modes
---------------------------
4) Version History
Ver 1.0 (Hoodie)
- Extended Mika's campaign
- Extended and Polished Takuro's campaign
- Redesigned end credits
- Added multiple endings and choices that factor gameplay
- Fixed translation errors
- Moved the secret area
- Added a new character and his story to the game (Not finished, very early alpha for them, not playable)
Ver 0.4 (Diszxchat)
- Extended Mika's demo to the Old Building Section.
- Changed Mika's alt-attire to the one used in Vampire Mika.
- Added a new, secret area to the game.
- Secret code added.
- Fixed the error where Giant Oni turns into a regular Oni upon entering
the basement during his chase scene.
- Meka Domo-Kun is no longer where he originally was (he is still in the
game though, somewhere...)
Ver 0.3 (Shinryu)
- Extremely early demo of the game includes the following:
- Very short demo of Mika mode added, and other codes related to her.
- Mixed Mode added.
- New Oni added. This Oni was originally intended to be in an original
fan-game I was planning on doing, though after it was scrapped I decided
to throw him in here as an easter egg of sorts. He shows up at the end
of Mika's demo.
Ver 0.2 (noprops)
- Finished Hiroshi's campaign.
5) Other Stuff
Ao Oni was initially created by noprops. I take no credit for any of
the original material that he created for this game or the material
that was utilized from other, various creators for RPG Maker XP.
If you want to track the progress of this game, I will occasionally
post updates on my Youtube channel. You can view it here:
https://www.youtube.com/Shinryuu82 *DISCONTINUED*
For actual track of progress go to the Gamejolt Page or the Wiki
where Hoodie (current dev) will post regular updates accordingly.
Additionally, if you would like to help me beta-test the game or help
out with it in any other way, send me a PM through Gamejolt and I'll respond.
Important Note: If you do want to beta-test, you must be committed to
finding glitches/out of place things during gameplay as opposed to
just wanting to get a look at the game or play it earlier than it's full
release.
That's about everything for right now. If you have any suggestions for
this game as well, please post them on my channel's videos pertaining
to this game or send me a PM. If you find any glitches/bugs, then
please feel free to message me about them as well.
Until the next update, I hope you guys enjoy this add-on. I know it's
not much right now, but it'll be updated with newer content eventually.
Thanks in advance, and have fun. ^^

15 SNES Games That Deserve a Sequel
https://ift.tt/3vtwp5A
The SNES isn’t just the greatest Nintendo console of all-time: it’s the home of a truly impressive collection of classic games, underrated gems, and, for our purposes today, a shocking number of games that never got the sequel they deserved.
While you can usually list the business reasons why certain games don’t get sequels, that does little to diminish fans’ desires for more of a particular experience or even a second chance to get things right. In the case of some of these games, fans have been holding their breath for quite a long time.
Before we dive into this look at SNES games begging for a sequel, please note that while we will mostly focus on games that never got a sequel, a few of these titles did get underwhelming sequels that missed the mark or otherwise haven’t been revisited in over 20 years.
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
15. The Adventures of Batman and Robin
While I actually slightly prefer the Genesis version of this game, this underrated SNES gem was still a Konami beat-em-up made at the peak of that studio’s efforts in that genre. Even better, it was based on arguably the best Batman adaptation of all time: Batman: The Animated Series.
So why did this never get a sequel? It certainly wasn’t perfect, and Konami may have struggled to retain the rights, but given how much the company’s TMNT games improved over time, it’s hard not to wonder what Konami could have done if they had been allowed to expand upon this brilliant marriage of an expertly adapted world and nearly airtight gameplay.
14. Saturday Night Slam Masters
This game did technically get a sequel, but that title never officially made it out of Japan and also made some drastic changes that made the series more of a 2D fighting game. It was actually quite good, but it didn’t reach the heights of the original.
After all, Saturday Night Slam Masters balanced a fascinating mixture of fighting games and wrestling games that was compelling enough at the time but may bring a generation raised on increasingly stale WWE games to tears. This is quite simply one of the most entertaining wrestling games ever made.
13. Super Star Wars Trilogy
This entry is a bit of a cheat since it not only combines three games in one entry but arguably ignores the fact that we’ve obviously gotten quite a few Star Wars games since these were released. Still, what I really want is a new trilogy of games that mimics the gameplay and style of these brutally difficult classics.
Whether they’re based on the prequel trilogy, sequel trilogy, or tell entirely original stories, I’d love for a modern developer (probably someone in the Devolver Digital family) to make a modern Super Star Wars game that leaves you wanting to throw your controller through the window and enjoying every minute of it.
12. Mario Paint
While Nintendo has made other strange games that emphasized player’s creative input (Mario Maker is probably the most notable recent example), they’ve never really properly revisited this Super Mario spin-off that showed Nintendo fans everywhere there was an artist inside of them.
Mario Paint may be simple by today’s standards, but that’s all the more reason for Nintendo to upgrade what was essentially an educational game that mastered the “gamify” concept long before that really became a talking point in the industry.
11. U.N. Squadron
The SNES wasn’t exactly lacking in worthwhile shooters, but there was always something special about U.N. Squadron. Granted, it was tough as nails, but the game’s upgrade system, visuals, and incredible level design typically made it easy to put up with the frustrations.
Capcom is always talking about revisiting and reviving its back catalog, so why not release an “indie-style” sequel to this cult classic that’s always deserved another look?
10. Skyblazer
This largely forgotten gem from the SNES era shows just how spoiled we were at that time for these kinds of experiences.
After all, Skyblazer was a game that combined great visuals, a killer soundtrack, puzzle-solving, platforming, and intense side-scrolling action, and few people ever actually played it. A simple re-release of this underrated classic would be more than I could hope for, but truth be told, my heart cries out for an admittedly unlikely sequel.

9. Sunset Riders
Long before Red Dead Redemption offered arguably the definitive Western gaming experience, one of the most enjoyable ways to take a trip to that era was this run-and-gun side-scroller shooter that failed to really make a name for itself despite having so much going for it.
Sunset Riders‘ old west setting carries a lot of this game’s weight, but it’s really this shooter’s gameplay (which feels like a combination of Contra and a light gun shooter) that makes you wonder how it spent so many years in relative obscurity. A sequel would go a long way towards helping to ensure this game gets the love it deserves.
8. Weaponlord
It felt like every developer was trying to make the next great fighting game in the ‘90s. While most of those efforts fell well short of being the next Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, the decade’s onslaught of subpar efforts meant that a few fighting games never got the chance they deserved.
Weaponlord was one of those games. Sometimes referred to as the spiritual predecessor to Soul Edge/Soul Calibur, this weapon-based fighting game complemented its shockingly deep gameplay with a unique art style that stands out to this day. It wasn’t perfect, but it’s so easy to imagine how a sequel could have fixed nearly all of this game’s flaws.
7. Uniracers
A racing game about unicycles is strange enough, but what really sets this game apart is its surprising speed and wacky courses that emphasize almost “stunt-like” racing and tricks. I even kind of love this game’s weird ‘90s attitude.
There was just so much more that could have been done with this concept had Uniracers gotten the sequel it deserved. Since its developer DMA Design (now known as Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar North) clearly isn’t doing anything these days, I don’t see why they wouldn’t revisit this one.
6. Secret of Evermore
It’s easy to get this game confused with Secret of Mana and some of the other titles of this era, but Secret of Evermore truly was a special piece of action RPG design that has been tragically overlooked over the years for reasons that have little to do with the game’s quality.
At a time when many fans were looking for a Secret of Mana sequel, Secret of Evermore offered a somewhat similar but distinctly different gaming experience that was a little slower, a little stranger, and a little more complicated, but arguably never got the chance it deserved to really carve its own identity and find an audience. I think modern gamers would be more receptive to this title’s ideas, though it would be a lot easier to confirm that theory if we got a sequel.
5. Kirby’s Dream Course
Kirby’s Dream Course is one of those games that I feel was both hurt and helped by its license. While this project’s association with Kirby probably inspired more people to play what essentially amounts to a combination of golf and puzzle games (think Marble Madness), a lot of young gamers who took a chance on this thinking it was closer to a traditional Kirby game were left throwing their hands up in the air.
Years later, though, it’s easier than ever to appreciate what Dream Course is going for. This almost zen-like experience challenges you to use your brain to solve its most fiendish puzzles but keeps things light enough to encourage you to progress even when you hit a wall. Even if an eventual sequel was nothing more than a mobile game, Dream Course is more than worthy of another look.
4. Illusion of Gaia
Illusion of Gaia was one of those SNES games that not everybody owned, but those who did own it typically wouldn’t shut up about it. To be fair to those sometimes persistent gamers, it’s kind of hard to forget about Illusion of Gaia once you’ve given it a chance.
Though perhaps best described as an ARPG, Illusion of Gaia is actually sometimes closer to a more complicated take on a classic Legend of Zelda game. Its incredible world, surprising plot, fun action, and unique action/adventure concepts made it easy to love, hard to forget, and surprisingly difficult to play. While part of an unofficial trilogy of games, this one has always deserved a proper sequel.
3. Super Mario RPG
While the Paper Mario series and some of the Mario & Luigi games eventually carried on Super Mario RPG’s legacy, you’ve got to forgive fans who still cry out for a “proper” Super Mario RPG sequel to this day. Maybe that’s because there’s really not another game quite like Super Mario RPG.
Developed by SquareSoft during their 16-bit peak, Super Mario RPG combined the better elements of a Final Fantasy game with the more lighthearted nature of a Mario title. The result was an RPG that was much more “accessible” than other notable RPGs of this era but never left you feeling like you were playing a lesser game. At the very least, a Super Mario RPG sequel may be the only way that we get more Geno adventures.
2. Demon’s Crest
There’s a loose rumor that Demon’s Crest‘s sales were so bad that it actually registered negative sales at one point due to an excessive number of returns. It may be little more than an urban legend, but it kind of goes to show you just how poorly this game performed when it was released.
To this day, I’m not sure why Demon’s Crest wasn’t an instant hit. It was a bit short and some of its design elements were somewhat confusing, but this lovely gothic action title combined Castlevania and Mega Man in a way that is so easy to fall in love with. It’s the kind of game that practically begged for a sequel that it just never got.
1. Chrono Trigger
While I’m actually a fan of 1999’s Chrono Cross, I understand why many fans don’t like it. I believe Kotaku once called it a great game and a bad sequel, which really kind of sums up some of the ways that game distinguished itself while seemingly ignoring so many of the ways the classic original made a name for itself as one of the best RPGs ever.
So yes, count me among the many who still wants a “proper” Chrono Trigger sequel to this day. While there are plenty of reasons to doubt that a modern Chrono Trigger game could replicate the ways that this game’s “dream team” of developers made it arguably the best JRPG of the golden era of JRPGs, it’s almost impossible to walk away from this one and not be left wishing for more.

Why New 3D Mario Games Suck
Before I go to bed I want to write a quick article about my opinions of Mario games. Ah, Mario games... I will never tire of you. Crisp and clean, to the point and joyfully so. Just jump, mofocka. Games that revel in the concept of moving around, making it inherently fun. Is there more noble of a proposition in gaming? Has there ever been more lucid game design?
Yet, I think that modern Mario games suck.
Like everyone and their grandmother (and if your grandmother plays Mario send her my regards, she's cool as hell, dude) I've been playing Mario 3D All Stars to have me a nice time. However it does reinforce this idea that I've always had, that Mario games, even though they may share the same broad aesthetic values and mechanics, are different from each other by nature. In this article, I propose that this change over time has actually been for the worse, leading to a loss of complexity in platforming game design with each successive iteration which is being traded away in favor of more cinematics and bombastics.
First things first, we have the beautiful Mario 64. A timeless classic and most of us' first foray into 3D games (yes, this was the very first game I ever played where the notion of the third dimension actually mattered. I had already played Star Fox but in Star Fox you don't really move in three dimensions, you're just in a plane going on rails and you cannot move completely freely). I played this before I even touched Doom or other first person games of the sort.
Minor parentheses by the way: did you know that Star Fox was inspired on the Inari Taisha temple? The beautiful, big long mountain shrine in Kyoto full of orange gates?
Fox translates to Inari and its creator, Dylan Cuthberth, who loved Japan a lot, got inspiration from it which he applied to his new bizarre fucking mind bending 3D tech which he then pitched and sold to nintendo and then became the basis for the Ultra 64, which was to come, and thus one of the main pillars of all modern 3D gaming as a whole? Holy shit, right? In Star Fox you cross gates to gain powerups and to make it fun to maneuver around with your Airwing... How come that I had never seen the connection?
But anyway. Back to Mario 64.
It is commonly told that Mario 64 was created by Miyamoto parting from the concept of a "secret garden". Most of the development time initially, it is said, was spent on Miyamoto and Tezuka, Mario creators, fine tuning the movement system in an isolated garden map without any enemies or hazards.
The purpose of the secret garden was threefold: first, the team was used to designing Mario games as 2d platformers and they were uncertain about how to take Mario games into the 3D era (a literal, flat-out equivalent conversion of classic mario, think Super Mario World, powerups and all, was considered at a certain point in development, creating linear, obstacle course stages with a beginning and a goal, the remnants of which still linger in the final game as the bowser stages, an idea which was finally fleshed out with the Mario 3D series on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, 20 years later (!)), so they needed a way to hash out ideas about how to design this new installment.
Second, Miyamoto took as one of the goals of the project to design Mario's movement with a supreme level of fidelity, so he'd use this area to test and test and test all of Mario's acrobatics, to make them feel smooth, convincing and entertaining to play. He'd say that as long as a move didn't feel right in the garden, it couldn't be used in the final game, creating in the end as something that feels a little bit like ninja acrobatics on rollerskates or ice skating.
Third, the team eventually realized that, since 3D content was incredibly expensive to create back in 1995, when commonplace computer 3D animation and design was still quite in its infancy, they needed to develop the skill to design little sandboxes which were good enough to run around in over and over without getting tired of them (think of it as if constructing a highly detailed, complex diorama, an idea fleshed out finally in Captain Toad from Super Mario 3D world, again, 20 years later (!)). This was to create more content for the game while reusing the same architecture and geometry for the levels, since resource usage had to be maximized. The remnants of the garden are still present in the final game, as the Castle Grounds.
So, do you see the level of SOUL invested here? The level of care, the amount of love placed into each and everyone of Mario's moves in Super Mario 64? And the results show it: the game allows the player to tackle all objectives at their own pace, in their own terms, however way they can. The game forces nothing down your throat: blast to the island in the sky? Well, maybe just long jump to it if you're gutsy enough, no need to wait until you unlock cannons. Or get the 8 red coins first if you want. Or just fuck it, and go and release the chain chomp first because he looks very cool and this is probably the first power star that all people who play the game get first. Or just, fuck it, you can skip that objective all together if you want, just collect enough stars for the next door unlock.
Jump, double jump, triple jump, dive, dive from jump, punch, breakdance kick, backflip, turn and backflip, long jump, wall jump, grab objects and throw, jump-shortkick, slide down, ground pound, fly from triple jump, swim, crouch... and even crawl. I count a total of 20 possible interactions with the environment, maybe even more I'm missing. All movements completely available to you from the start to mix and match the way you best see fit (except for flying, which is unlocked like 15 minutes into the game). The world is yours and you're free, go nuts son. The only variable is your skill at the movement system.
So you can probably see why this is delicious design. There's never a single way to clear most power stars in the game, instead the decision is left to the player, which the game trusts is smart enough to figure out solutions to problems on their own. Wanna jump for it? Sure, if you can. Want to wait unil you got the powerup? That's cool too. Want to go play another level? Sure thing! OR FUCK IT! JUST RACE THE KOOPA IF YOU WANT!
So you can probably see why I loathe the fact that the sequel was based exclusively on giving people a dumbed down version of the same shit, with a fucking dumb water pack.
Come 2002 and under pressure to perform, the team releases Super Mario Sunshine and it's the most bland, dumbed down sequel ever (though, could anyone really live up to such a predecessor's prowess?). In an attempt to make the game accessible to more players (tm), the game is stripped out of its complexity. Mario no longer moves as a gracious, roller skating gazelle that can navigate the world in the most agile and beautiful way ever. Instead you screech down to a halt the second you stop pushing the direction stick instead of providing people with that most delicious sense of momentum and friction SM64 had. Boo Hoo! Baby think 3D platforming is too hard? BABY CANNOT HANDLE PING PING WAHOO ON THE N64? Then we give babby a water nozzle which will allow them to correct any miscalculated jump ever (it's insulting that this is the best solution they managed to come up with) HOORAY!
But hey! Sunshine has good things about it! Uh... the water is pretty! (that's probably where all the development time and resources probably went anyway).
SAY WHAT? WE GOT TO RELEASE THIS YEAR? AND THEY WANT US TO INCLUDE 120 STARS AGAIN? FUCK! WE RAN OUT OF TIME; JUST ADD BLUE COINS, DUDE! YEAH WHATEVER! SHIP IT! THIS IS THE GAME! I'M GONNA GO LIE DOWN AND HAVE A BEER! FUCK IT!
Mario Sunshine is not a bad game, but it's not a bold, groundbreaking game like its predecessor was. It detests and rejects the fact that you are a competent platforming game player. It nerfs everything down. It makes it almost impossible to lose. It plays things too safe and too easy, replacing action game design with flashing lights, prettier graphics, and an easier experience; it has its moments but it's an inferior game mechanically: jump, double jump, triple jump, hover, rocket jump, turbo run (why), walk on tightropes (why), spin in air (why), spin from ground into high jump, turn and backflip, swim, spray water, spray water and dive, wall jump, ground pound. It's only 16 moves -- less than its predecessor --, and they have less complexity and are easier to execute.
Not only that but you're no longer free to tackle objectives the way you see fit. The world is now a container for several course-clears, and no longer allowing for the freedom of open world games. If you pick Shine 1, you WILL clear shine 1 in that run of the level. If the game wants you to watch a cutscene (of which there were none in SM64), you WILL watch the fucking cutscene. Wash rinse repeat until you get enough shines to clear the lamest end boss in video game history.
Again, it's not a bad game but it reeks of suits getting involved in the process and demanding shit to be made easier because otherwise it wouldn't sell. It reeks of misplaced priorities. It's a pretty game and it's nice for an afternoon, but after that you just have blue coins left and hooooooooooooo weeeeeee I'm not touching that shit. The most asinine side quest I've ever seen in a video game: to find blue coins hidden in random spots, usually by cleaning a spot of graffitti, and exchange 10 of them for a single shine, the collection of which cannot be stacked and forces you to watch a cutscene every time. Reeks of laziness.
Then Mario Galaxy comes out and Jesus Christ. It's like they don't give a shit at this point. Open-world, acrobatics-centric 3D Mario is just fucking gone. This is probably the point where it became cheap enough to make 3D content en-masse that they just started copying the classic Mario formula in 3D to churn out content.
The bad thing, is that at a certain point it feels as if the games play themselves and I've always been against it and will always be against it because I'm into games due to the fact that they're something which engages my brain. I don't like games which just keep me there, passively looking at the screen, reacting to quick time events. I want to be immersed, engrossed and I want to feel that nice sense of exploration and fun experimentation that you only get with open world games.
The games are back to linear now: even though, in Sunshine, they made an effort to at least make things seem open world, they don't care anymore in this one. It's all just linear levels happening in planetoids which you visit in a sequence, to, yet again, remove all hazards and all notion of challenge and complexity, even more than before. And you have to shake the wii remote to spin to top it off, and this gives you a free save if you miscalculate a jump. The galaxy games were extrapolated through the 3D series: Super Mario 3D Land and 3D World (strong candidates for most bizarre title to a video game ever), to form which is called the "course clear" vein of 3D mario games, starting from the Galaxy games.
See, nintendo themselves differentiate between "Course-clear" 3D Mario and "Open World" 3D Mario. Once Super Mario Oddysey got announced, they came out with this interesting infographic about their classification for 3D Mario games:
Don't get me wrong again, there's nothing inherently bad about these types of Mario game, and Galaxy 2 and Mario 3D World are both some of the best video games ever created, but I think that something got lost in transition when compared to the sublime finesse of the movement system in Mario 64. The way it respects your intelligence, the way it drops you in an open world and gives you freedom, the way that its worlds are built, I think that all of this has never been paralleled, not even by nintendo themselves for some reason, and I think the reason why this happened is that, maybe the excellence of Mario 64, quirks and all, was a product of its time and the limitations in production ability for 3d content and graphics that surrounded its creation at the time.
Yet, Lo and Behold! 2017 is here and Super Mario Oddyssey is in the horizon and it promises to be the Next Big Thing (tm) since sliced bread. A TRUE and HONEST return to form, to the Glory Days of Mario 64! And the game is way too enthsiastic with its embracing of Super Mario 64 nostalgia: there's literally a whole level inspired after the Mario 64 castle grounds in Mario Oddysey and the whole notion of absolute freedom from Mario 64 (somewhat) returns (but not completely because you still are subject to doing a main big event per level, after which the rest of the level unlocks; once you clear the game, the second half of the game unlocks even). And the emphasis is back into acrobatics again, which is a good thing: playing with your hat can get you places if you're handy with it.
But my biggest gripe with Super Mario Oddysey is that it's not completely honest as it claims to be. It's a course-clear game hidden under a coat of paint of an open world-game. It's literally Zelda Breath of the Wild's half-assed design all over again: big empty world full of collectibles, with tiny "levels" to be found. Once you find a game, it's time to do a thing --wash rinse repeat. In Mario Oddysey you explore around until you find a pipe or a door or a character and you get plunked into a Super Mario 3D World style course-clear game with additional collectibles. So it's not really the game which it was told to be. The levels don't feel like beautiful dioramas, and the acrobatics, even if nice, are nowhere near as rich as the SM64 acrobatics. There's infinite lives this time around, so there's no real feeling of risk. The game rehashes its own content, you make a tower of goombas, cool. Then you make it again, twice as long. Then you make it again, in the water. Then you make it again, in the beach level. Then you make it again, in the ice level. Then you make it again. Then you make it again, then you make it again...
You could argue that they were onto something with the capture system, because it's an attempt to enhance the movement system while at the same time it's trying to keep things interesting, but the bad thing is that this is really not the case. Captures are contextual, and you're expected to capture an enemy, do something with it, then leave it behind, so it's not a skillset that you build up on, it's yet another course-clear level in a disguise.
So even though it's a good game, it's not the game that it set out to be, I'm sad to say. The Brilliance of Super Mario 64 is yet to be rivaled, and Nintendo should feel ashamed of it. It's been 20 years, man. Where has your mind been all along?
Alright Nintendo, to conclude, here's a freebie for you. This is how you design your next Mario game so it fucking kicks ass: you bring back the SM64 movement system and ADD ONTO IT. Do NOT take away from it, just ADD. Complexity is good in games. All of your fans are fucking 30 year olds, they can handle a complex game.
Next, you develop a vast, broad, massive open world. Think GTA-size. You set up 1200 stars and you place them all over the world in ways where it is EXCITING by itself to explore the world. Make it so people can collect stars at their own pace, ANY WAY THEY WANT, and expand the world accordingly. Keep the Super Mario Oddyssey persistence, where once you capture a moon you don't have to go back to a menu screen, that was a good addition. Embrace the diorama mentality and go nuts with the world. Fill it with waterfalls, caves, chasms, canyons, and provide the player nothing but their acrobatics to clear everything in the world. Avoid pre-scripted sequences (they can still be good for some things like bosses). And make the world seamless, none of this island in the sky thing anymore. Moving around and getting stars should be their own reward, not "getting to find a course clear level".

Spelunky: Criticisms and the Downsides of RNG Prep Stages
Spelunky HD: Released August 8th, 2013
Cost: $14.99, Disc Space Size: 200 MB
Spelunky World Website Steam Page
Review
8/17/20 7:34 PM CST
I'm aware that I'm drafting this from a sense of entitlement, having never designed any games or anything creative myself as of the time of writing this. For full disclosure, I'm also in the process on reading this game's autobiography (Derek Yu's Spelunky from Boss Fight Books) and I have also yet to beat the final secret-level boss.
Although I did come the closest towards doing so earlier today.
Take note of that Total Deaths count and the session play time (31 minutes, and 3273 total deaths at time of screenshot. We'll come back to this later.)
All that said, I'll likely revisit the subject in the future once more. With all that out of the way:
At least by today's standards, Spelunky is not a great game. I would hesitate to call it "good;" it's a decent game with some phenomenal features. The physics in the game are fun. The controls are tight, there's enough variety that replaying through stages isn't tedious from lack of variety, the graphics are nice. The soundtrack for Spelunky is good (and at times excellent) but once you reach a certain point in the game you will likely turn it off for redundancy. The story that exists is great, with a surprising number of cultural and mythological tie-ins that constitute the main story elements. Some sense of progression even exists (in fact, writer and literary genius Philip J Reed's article on the Tunnel Man Key inspired me to pick this game up in the first place), and achievements are also present (I didn't experience these firsthand, as I played a copy of the game not within Steam, the PSN or XBLA.)
So what's wrong with it?
Spelunky suffers from a host of small issues, oversights and bugs that were never fixed in the official game. Some of it may be by design; skeletons and other monsters cannot be jumped on-top of underwater to kill; damage is taken. Cobras will often spawn level with the shopkeeper, at a depth where you're unable to defeat it before it aggros the shopkeepers for the rest of the game. Other parts might purely be bugs; the secret item "hedjet" doesn't always pick up, and on one occasion, I encountered a level with no clear path through the mines to the exit without using a bomb or a rope.
These are just some of the issues I encountered--the Spelunky Wiki has listed several more bugs on their webpage.
The biggest issue in Spelunky is in how it handles the ghost.
The ghost appears in each level of Spelunky after two minutes pass. Once this condition is met, the ghost will appear level with the player from either the left or the right, depending on which side the player is closer to when it spawns.
Each gem in the stage that comes in contact with the ghost turns into a diamond that is worth $5000. For reference, gems in the first world will range between either $800, $1200 or $1600 when picked up normally.
And the ghost is incredibly easy to avoid, especially if you are already prepared.
To revisit an earlier point, I have died over 3,273 times at the time of writing this. The majority of those attempts were sessions that were 0-5 minutes long. Waiting 2 minutes for the ghost to appear per stage, so you can gain enough money to buy the necessary items from the secret shop, is excruciating. There's no reason that the player shouldn't be able to summon the ghost early with a button (maybe with the option toggle-able from the settings menu, or unlocked after the first player win.) Once the player identifies this as the most effective playstyle, half of the game becomes waiting for the ghost and running an obstacle course. There's only so much of that you can do before you're sick of ghost runs.
And yet... the game will punish you for not taking every gem you can carry. To clear the game's secret route, a 30-40 minute playtime would not be uncommon. If you don't have enough bombs, Olmec will likely kill you, breakout-style. If you don't have the paste item, Anubis is likely to kill you. Without the Kapala, you're likely to have low health for the Temple stage. The compass will save resources and health after exploration no longer matters. The jetpack is a lifesaver.
Having to spend those two minutes waiting to avoid those headaches later on is poor game design. Regardless on if the ghost run playstyle was originally intended, it sometimes feels like the game expects more thought and patience than what was put into it.
A similar shortcoming in game design might be found within 60 Seconds! Reatomized. 60 Seconds! Reatomized is effectively two smaller games stitched into one; controlling either Ted or Dolores, you rush through your 3D-rendered house grabbing everything you can for your fallout shelter in 60 seconds, and then spend half an hour or so playing a text-based strategy game using what you grabbed.
Its hardest difficulty, "Tsar Bomba," is comically difficult. I've completed it only once (with the siblings ending), and from my experience you're at a vast advantage if you play as Ted, and either the suitcase or Mary Jane spawn right beside the trapdoor. In doing so, you're able to pick up 3 items while barely having to nudge inside the "safe zone" as the time expires.
Receiving this map load-out to make this gif took me about 15 minutes of resets, as per my recordings. But this is still the quickest and "least-frustrating" method of beating the game.
For 60 Seconds! Reatomized, aside from toggling that specific object's RNG, no easy remedy comes to mind. For the Spelunky ghost run, all that would need to be done is to enable a hotkey (or a menu button) to skip a timer.
Another complaint that seems trivial but is surprisingly irritating after 3,273 deaths is the lack of an "exit game" option on the Game Over screen. To exit the game, you either have to respawn on another attempt ("Retry") or warp back to an almost-entirely-useless hub area ("Continue"), and then find it through the pause menu. It's a patronizing annoyance, at least on the PC version, and I've found myself "Control Alt Deleting" myself off the game multiple times out of frustration.
Underneath these massive inconveniences there's a fun experience to be had, despite all these criticisms.
Ratings:
Spelunky: 7/10
60 Seconds! Reatomized: 3/5

TOP 5 NEW ZEALAND MUSICIANS: MANDIE HAILWOOD
Antagonist A.D
Why does Australia steal all that is good from us? I may be a little bitter because Antag are the only band on this list that i’ve actually never seen live... One day! With lyrics steeped in self reflection, and a whole lot of aggression, if I could only listen to one NZ band forever, Antag would probably be that band. Top Pick: Dogs Blood
Daffodils
Daffodils are so groovy and they’re so young. Daffodils have so much potential and they’re already so incredible. Daffodils get me dancing and grooving and I realllyyy hate dancing. They have this one song that I think is called ‘You Only Love When It Hurts’ and the first time I heard it I thought they were singing ‘We Only Love Planet Earth’ and that made it my favourite song instantly. It may not be an ode to Planet Earth, but it still gives me goosebumps everytime I hear it live. They haven’t released a recorded version yet, but maybe that’s just another reason to get out and see this band live ASAP. Top Pick: We Only Love When It Hurts
Marlon Williams
Firstly let’s get a little bit nostalgic while I tell you that a year ago yesterday, I made my way down to Christchurch University’s bar, camera in hand, all prepared to photograph my first gig in a very long time. I remember being all kinds of nervous and excited. But then Marlon took to the stage, the room hushed, and all nerves were gone. Lyttelton is my favourite town in New Zealand, and it only breeds good souls - so it’s no wonder that one of the New Zealand’s finest singers comes from that hazy little port town. Top Pick: Can I Call You
Midnight Youth
I’ll never forget the day I first saw Midnight Youth, as the sun began to set over the vineyards deep in the Hawkes Bay... That song with the ‘whoa oh ohs’ was probably playing, and I was in the midst of the crowd clutching a tiny little point and shoot camera, absolutely in awe of this live rock band playing in front of me. It was the first time i’d ever seen (real) live music. I was hooked and instantly craving more. So I went back for their second show two days later. I miss when Midnight Youth were a band at least once a month. Top Pick: The Street
Seas of Conflict
It’s no secret that i’ll pick going to a heavy show over most other genres any day of the week, however what is a secret, is that my music library is full of a lot of indie/alt rock music - I just don’t wanna be assaulted through my earphones all day long ya feel? However Seas Of Conflict are one of the few heavier bands that end up on heavy rotation. Top Pick: Monochopsis

My version of the Tartaros Arc
Hey another re write for my alt fairy tail. So this will be our big war arc This will take us all over so here’s the map of Ishgar
After the GMG all the kings of Ishgar are gathered in the magic council headquarters in Era
The Kings are discussing recent events and getting small intros, with the reveal that Dan Straight is the new king of Pergrande and Coco is his Secretary of State
They are called to order by Gran Doma who says how they should become leaders more actively in the world of magic as it affects everyone
The king of Joya is pretty dismissive saying that's the whole reason the council was invented to control and over see the world of magic while kings oversaw their kingdoms and handled that.
Gran Doma states that they should do more than that as Gran Doma lists off event that have happened like the release of Nirvana, the uprise in Pergrande, and the fall of 2 heads of Balam
Gran Doma says that also in the past that the council rarely got involved in individual government and that's changing, in fact change in the world of magic is even more a reason to take hands on roles
But the meeting ends, no king all that convinced and uncaring.
The magic council then confers, with Doranbolt and Lahar looking over it, and Org wishing that more people leaders cared. Gran Doma says the world of magic is in an era of change and that one change will be the fall of the dark guilds organization. Doma calling for Tartaros's destruction
The building is destroyed by Jackal with the council and Lahar dying.
Cut to fairy tail as they try to figure what is Tartaros as succubus eye was a servant of theirs. Levy stating that they've been working from the shadows but never as open as OS and Grimoire.
Natsu is currently rattled by the demons of Zeref asking Levy about them. Her giving a run down.
Natsu is also concerned as Atlas mentioned Igneel and he contemplates how much time he's wasted not looking for Igneel
It cuts to Ultear who states that there are changes about to happen seeing as dark guilds under Tartaros are becoming abandoned
Cut to Laxus and The thunder God Tribe in 8 island and it goes the same way Yajima and all of Fairy Tail are looking over the hospitalized Laxus. Yajima stating that Tartaros may be coming after all the former members. Natsu says they should kill Tartaros but Macao says that it may be best as the rune knights are completely disorganized.
Levy states that if one S class mage was needed to beat one Demon gate then they should split up into teams of 2
Mystogan says he'll go to Pergrande and ask for assistance
The teams are Natsu & Happy going to Caelum, Erza and Mira going to Stella, Lucy & Wendy to Bosco, Elfman and Cana going to Joya, Levy and Gajeel to Minstrel, Gray and Juvia to Iceberg
Yajima and Doranbolt are going to head to a secret place
Natsu is at Caelum and when he sets foot on it he's immediately recognized by his FT mark and brought to the king.
On the way to their target, Crawford, Mira says she's proud of Elfman for really growing Erza saying that he'll maybe be ready to surpass her.
Gray and Juvia are heading to Iceberg Gray trembling slightly remembering he came from Brago in Iceberg and it'll be almost 14 years since he came back
Back on Caelum, Natsu is brought to the King's palace. Natsu saying he's looking for council man Leiji. The King says he knows and he's council man Leiji brother, Reiji Caelum. (Natsu makes a comment that they have the same sideburns)
Happy says Tartaros is attacking council members and that Leiji is in trouble. Reiji says he knows and he's already prepared moving Leiji to a mega security unit.
Off on a coastal town of Caelum, there is a massive flood, one survivor saying this was a calamity and reveals Tempesta in his new body.
We make a small cut to Gajeel and Levy with Pantherlily checking out Minstrel and searching for Belno. Gajeel is happy to see her again
Elfman and Cana make it to Joya looking for councilor Yuri. The people seem off put as they are mages in Joya. Cana saying Joya doesn't like organized magic use and never established a guild system.
Natsu on Caelum is ticked that he's not allowed to help. But as he word comes in that a twister just appeared and wreaked part of a city Natsu remembers what the thunder God Tribe told him about Tempesta's power
Reiji says he'll protect his own brother without help. Natsu however follows behind the army sent out to take Tempesta.
Tempesta is outside the unit destroying everything in sight. The army is no match but Natsu arrives and is able to push back Tempesta. Natsu asks how he's here as Laxus destroyed him. Tempesta saying he was reborn in hell's core.
There is a cut to Lucy and Wendy arriving in a small town in Bosco. Lucy asks how to get to the town Michello is in and the civilian grimaces saying that they probably should say away if they value not having a headache
Cut back to Caelum where Natsu is fighting Tempesta, Happy says he'll save Leiji. Tempesta just activates "sink" which causes Natsu to sink then Tempesta uses "earthquake" causing the unit to collapse.
Happy however made it out with Leiji but then Tempesta bombards them with "Thunderbolt". Natsu gets out of "sink" and smashes Tempesta in the head. Tempesta pissed, enters demon form and smacks away Natsu.
Demon Tempesta narrows in on Happy and Leiji, but is stopped by Kagura.
Natsu is curious why she's here with Mermaid Heel and Kagura states Doranbolt contacted the guild and every guild has been asked to assist in this all of it
Cutting across showing Lamia in Iceberg, Sabertooth in Minstrel, and Blue Pegasus here in Caelum are there to transport everyone around the continent.
Tempesta says he doesn't care who's in his way but is ultimately killed by Kagura.
Cut to Elfman and Cana arriving in Joya looking for Yuri. They are disheartened to find Yuri is dead but the body destroy their communication lacrima. Sayla is revealed and makes Cana fall to sleep and Elfman have her in a position where he can break her neck
Natsu and Happy are told to get on Christina.
Happy uses the communication lacrima and everyone checks in. Lucy saying she made it to Michello's location, Gray saying in Iceberg they failed and the councilor is dead, Gajeel on his way to Belno, Erza and Mira made it to Crawford.
The only one not to make contact is Elfman and that gets Mira worried and Erza tells her to take their traveling beast to Joya given it's a couple miles away from Joya so Erza by herself will protect council man Crawford.
Lucy is having difficulties with Michello until Jackal comes barging in. Lucy reports this and Natsu yells for Blue Pegasus to get him to Bosco
Cut to Yajima and Doranbolt who are searching for some place but when Yajima hears Lucy's report he questions if Tartaros has an outside informant. Seeing as the first attacks seemed obvious as the council headquarters are known and 8 island is well publicized. But these attacks are more specific.
Lucy and Wendy fight Jackal who doesn't transform but still busts out his bomb body and is avoided
Mitchello says that if they're targeting council members then Tartaros maybe trying to release Face.
Lucy asks Yajima what Face is and he explains it. Natsu and Blue Pegasus arrive.
It cuts to Gajeel and Levy finding Belno and they ask about Face, Belno agrees to the protective precaution but Torafuzar comes in and fights
Gajeel and Torafuzar are almost equal but Torafuzar pulls Gajeel into the nearby body of water and overpowers him.
Torafuzar back hands Levy and kills Belno. Gajeel is struggling to get up of the water.
In Iceberg, Gray and Juvia are late and the councilman along with the whole town is dead suddenly the bodies get up and start moving
Cut to Erza meeting with Crawford, and it's the same back and forth about how Natsu intruded and he was at her trial. Then Tartaros attacks but this goes the same way in canon and Crawford captures Erza.
On Christina, Wendy and Lucy brought Michello and his granddaughter. Lucy tries contacting everyone but only Levy, Yajima, and Mira come in. At first they find it strange that Erza isn't coming in and then Yajima puts the pieces together saying Crawford is most likely an informant.
Yajima explains Crawford and his super archive magic and how he can use it for Tartaros
Then Macao comes in on the communication lacrima and says that the guild hall has been destroyed. Having had a light condensed lacrima dropped on it. The supporting characters are okay but Macao is sweating and has no idea what to do and mentally admits that he doesn't know what to do
Suddenly Magnolia and apparently most of Fiore is a wave of Tartaros of soldiers. Ultear and Meredy seeing this know there's only one place to go to stop Face if activated.
Over the broadcast Gray talks about all zombies, Kagura on with their communication lacrima says Tartaros is now on Caelum in boat loads.
Natsu inspects that Crawford's house is abandoned and tells Yajima this Yajima is terrified realizing that Crawford is going to use super archive to possibly find a link transfer and now the soldiers don't care and only care about destruction.
Levy then has an idea that maybe if they destroy Face then nothing will be able to activated. But Yajima states there are multiple face bombs.
Mystogan gets on the line saying he's got Pergrande's help and are going to take down Faces. There's a problem, they can only cover the eastern half.
The others contact: Kagura saying Mermaid Heel will cover Caelum, Jura says Lamia Scale will cover Iceberg, Macao says they'll find something to do for Fiore, and Sting says Sabertooth will cover minstrel, and Mira will try a cover Joya.
On the Cube Crawford is struggling to find the organic link fast enough. Revealing Belno and Org had the keys. Franmalth makes fun of him, Crawford stating he'll find the last key while locating a person isn't hard he can't locate magic of the person with out serious resources. Crawford says just give him an hour.
In hell's core, Kyouka finishes the new Jackal body, and a new Minerva. Kyouka gives Minerva the mission of killing Sabertooth to stop them from stopping Face.
Kyouka Apologies as there won't be a new body for Tempesta quickly as she has to divert resources for a person in hell's core who their master ordered be given modifications, Erza.
Kyouka will turn Erza into a demon and soon Sayla will return and brainwash her.
Cut to Mira going to the capital of Joya, Diamanté, which was where Elfman last was heard and he's currently in beast form destroying the city under control of Sayla.
Mira wants to stop the beast but while fighting she can't bring herself to go all out with Elfman.
Mira realizes the asleep Cana and aims a small bubble of magic at her that awakens her. Cana activates card dimension cutting off influence of Macro through Elfman.
The two ready to fight Sayla and cut to Iceberg where Silver appears. Gray and Juvia are too busy with zombies till Lyon shows up.
With Yajima he and Doranbolt finally make it to where they've wanted to, Magic council prison to release the Seis. Yajima activates a protocol stating that if there is a vacant council seat, in the time of crisis a former council member who was never impeached, is allowed to be reinstated as long as it's witnessed by an official, Doranbolt.
They want the Seis to destroy the Face in Desierto. In exchange absolute pardon and a clean slate.
Back in Magnolia, Macao is panicked but then the thunder God Tribe tells them to destroy face while they protect Magnolia.
On the Christina they are wondering where to support, Natsu says that doesn't matter, they need to find Tartaros HQ to save Erza. Hibiki agrees saying there is Crawford most likely is. Problem is no one knows where to look for HQ.
Lucy then remembered that there was a light condensed lacrima dropped meaning the base could be airborne.
Hibiki states that he already scanned for aerial crafts and all there was were magic airships. Lucy remembers Jackal gloating about Curse power and asks if Hibiki can scan for that and they find that the Cube is over Minstrel. They plot a course for it.
In Minstrel, Gajeel has gotten back to Levy and states he can beat Torafuzar. We then cut to Sabertooth where Orga destroys a face with his Black Lightning. This location is a canyon that has multiple face bombs. Torafuzar is trying to protect it and punches Orga away.
The Sabertooth guild is able to take the foot soldiers but Torafuzar is giving them trouble.
Minerva arrives shocking all members of Sabertooth. Minerva says she'll break Sabertooth first attacking Yukino but is stopped by Sting who says he'll fight her.
Gajeel finds this canyon, and goes after Torafuzar in Iron shadow dragon mode. He states that he won't lose seeing as they're miles away from water where Torafuzar has the advantage.
Torafuzar activates Tenchi Kaime filling the canyon with black water and this goes the same as in canon.
Gajeel is struggling to breathe after all the fighting. And when Tartaros minions try to attack but Rogue protects him.
Cut to Christina where they begin questioning why they are going to Minstrel and it turns out, Minstrel is where the magic council headquarters are.
Yajima who's been keeping the communication lacrima line open, says that magic council headquarters are in Minstrel. Yajima figures if they break the organic link they still need to access the magic panel in Era to activate it.
They set themselves for Minstrel hoping to beat them there.
Cut Joya where Mira and Sayla are hammering it out. Sayla is trying to blast away Mira but Cana launches cards distracting Sayla.
Their fight is tearing through the city and Cana sees the king of Joya who's ranting to get him out of here.
Cana asks why he's not sending out his knights to help destroy face and he says he doesn't care either way.
Cana points out the obvious of how without magic won't protect him, but she also states that magic is their lives and their passions and how all their years of practicing it will be robbed from them in an instant. Cana just leaves saying "excuse me, I have to protect your city from a demon with that magic you don't care about."
Mira forces Sayla into etherios form but Mira enters Stiri to counter it. It looks bad but Cana enters and releases Elfman as a surprise attack.
They eventually win but Sayla says in Hell's core she will be revived.
Mira reports this to the Christina which they now figure in Tartaros HQ they have to rescue Erza, destroy the Hell's Core, and stop the chairman.
In Tartaros Kyouka meets with Mard Geer and they discuss how with out magic E.N.D will be released.
Christina finally is insight of the Cube. Christina charges full speed towards it but Kyouka releases a bunch of winged beasts that look like the cyclops monster Natsu fought in sun village only these are smaller.
Christina opens fire but they can't quite land on it so Ichiya grabs Natsu, Lucy, Happy, Carla, and Wendy and in power perfume MAX MEN he throws them to the landing of the Cube.
Once on the Cube, there are three path ways, Natsu recognizes Erza's smell and says he'll go through that path, Wendy and Lucy split up taking the other two paths. Natsu takes it to Hell's core seeing Tempesta, Sayla, and Torafuzar's reforming bodies.
Natsu sees Erza is now in one of the tubes yelling to let her go, Kyouka says no and then says pushes Natsu back but Happy however, stealthily sneaking near Erza's tube and shatters it.
Lucy makes it to where Crawford is but he's guarded by Franmalth. Jackal watching from the ceiling.
Wendy however makes it to the bottom floor of Tartaros where there are the gates to Mard Geer's room but outside guarding it is Ezel.
Wendy and Ezel fight with Wendy entering dragon force by tasting the air that holds ethernano in it as ethernano is used to charge Hell's Core and Wendy is below it with the excess of it in the air
Wendy goes Dragon Force and with a giant tornado tears Ezel through the Cube causing them to start free falling. Wendy sees Carla is also unconsciously falling and saves Carla She breaks the fall by creating a tornado current that breaks the fall
Carla awakens to see Wendy saved her. Wendy cuts her hair and Carla cries, proud of Wendy
Christina does a crash landing on the Cube with the mages continuing the fight against the cyclops monsters. Michella even helps tired of hearing her grand father yelling at the people to protect him.
In hell's core Erza and Natsu fight Kyouka. Natsu shattering all of Hell's core. In the central room Lucy beats Franmalth by removing her spirits from his body. It looks like it's over but Crawford yells he found the last link.
The last link was Leiji and he transfers it to himself saying now all they need is to transfer it to a foot soldier but then Jackal kills him by blowing him up.
The lock on Face is released and Mard Geer smiles saying it's time and activates Algeria which seals all non demons on the Cube. While expositing about END
Things look bleak around the world as Gajeel hasn't waken up from almost drowning, Wendy is nowhere near the action, Silver shows up teleporting Gray away and Freezing him, Juvia still unable to keep the zombies dead, Sting getting wailed on by Minerva, and everyone is trapped.
But Lucy isn't as it turns out while Algeria was activated Aries coated Lucy in wool protecting her from the technique.
Lucy is attacked by Jackal and Kyouka. Jackal releases his etherios mode and truly begins to beat up Lucy. Even breaking her key ring causing her keys to fall.
She picks them up and summons Aquarius who explains the whole Celestial Spirit King thing and it goes the same as canon.
Plutogrim crashes in Minstrel where again everything goes like canon.
Jackal dies, Kyouka is ordered to detonate Face, Natsu hears about the book of E.N.D and goes after it, Gray breaks the ice, Sting goes Dragon Force saying he'll fight Minerva at full strength, and Gajeel wakes up.
Cut to Gray and Silver facing off and it goes the same way. Juvia has to kill Keyes but she can't bring herself to because all of her friends matter to her and as someone with the chance to still have their father she doesn't want to take that
But Keyes is killed with the help of Lyon and Gray became an Ice Devil Slayer
Gray takes the tiger beast they came on to get to Minstrel
Cutting to the remains of Tartaros, Natsu is freed and ends up facing Franmalth who is standing up saying he'll fight Natsu
Lucy isn't able to stand but is able to use the communication lacrima. Only Macao picks up.
Macao says that Magnolia is safe and FT has gotten several face bombs in the country
Kyouka makes a dash for the council building showing off she has a level of teleportation magic like Silver. Erza chases after her in flight armor.
The Sting vs Minerva and Natsu vs Franmalth fights are intercut with Sting just handily beating back Minerva with her exclaiming she's strong. And with Natsu vs Franmalth, Franmalth absorbs fire dragon slayer magic and uses it against Natsu.
Sting talks about his past with Minerva and how they first met and Sting talks about how he was like Minerva but he changed and he says no one is too far gone.
In the Franmalth fight, Natsu enters Lighting fire dragon magic and Franmalth can't absorb 2 magic at once and is beat.
Erza and Kyouka are in the abandoned council headquarters . But also at the headquarters is Ultear and Meredy here to help Erza. Mard Geer is freed from the stone.
Suddenly a huge roar is heard and Acnologia has appeared ready to destroy everything in sight.
Everyone's shocked even Mard Geer who hypothesizes that Acnologia is here because he felt the threat of Face being activated and since he to uses magic.
Lucy contacts Macao again and he says he doesn't know what to do. Cut to Macao sitting clutching his head and debating he could use Lumen Histoire.
Natsu has trouble standing and Igneel comes out of Natsu and the same happens with the other DS which destroys the bombs and Erza kills Kyouka with the help of Ultear and Meredy
Igneel faces Acnologia and Natsu faces Mard Geer. Mard Geer is pissed that his plan has failed and wants Natsu to die. Natsu is surprised he can use dragon force without a source of ethernano infused fire.
Gray shows up with devil slaying magic and with Natsu they force Mard Geer into his etherios form and he wreaks them.
Mard taunts Gray saying he's a poor demon slayer and Gray becomes angry a releases Ice devil's rage.
Natsu bursts forward saying he wants the book of END but Mard just beats him down
They beat Mard but Igneel still dies. All faces are destroyed and Zeref appears taking the book of END
Acnologia kills Igneel and Natsu looks over the dying Igneel
Cut to Macao looks over the rubble and thinks about all they suffered through this
Macao calls everyone saying he's disbanding Fairy Tail. All the members should go have their own lives. Everyone is in shock but Natsu tells Lucy and Gray that he has to leave and he'll show up in one year. Lucy wants him not to go but Gray says he has to master his devil magic and he needs to use it to kill END
Oracion Seis plan to leave but they run into Ultear who gets them to join Crime Sorciere.

Other Things To Boycott Instead Of Netflix's Dear White People.
In this modern-day, digitized province of unsolicited dick pics and Trump sponsored displays of nationally demoralizing idiocy that we call the Internet, it's easy for some things to get lost in the melee. For example, I recently just got around to watching BET's New Edition biopic and gluten-free goddamn. I had always assumed that the group was just famous for giving Black America Bobby Brown, providing me a reason to stand in the wind covered baby oiled-chest to toe in silk pajamas with the shirt unbuttoned while singing Can You Stand The Rain, and providing the soundtrack to your mother's first disappointing sexual experience. But apparently shit was more real than Atlanta housewives when the sangria and cocaine run out when (SPOILER ALERT) Bobby Brown made people want to punch him and everyone went broke.
But, I digress.
Syd The Kid, of The Internet fame, recently released her solo album that is so imbued with a studiously crafted yet well-balanced atmosphere and unabashed charisma that I've relegated listens only to instances in which I need to supplement my confidence. Like, say, the next time I eat $8 pork shoulder enchiladas at Taqueria Del Sol, blow up the toilet stall like ISIS trying to ask Al Qaeda to prom, and then exit said bathroom by calmly walking past the line of waiting people not caring that they're all within the Poop Waft Danger Zone, but with all the chill and self-assuredness of Billy Dee Williams as he steals your girl the moment you step away to grab her a pineapple Bacardi and Coke.
Lastly, I just found out that we'll soon be able to listen to Prince on platforms other than the 'Participation Award' of streaming servoces, Tidal. Does this mean that I'll soon be able to put on all the car seat concerts I want while stuck in gridlock traffic on I-85? Gifting any passerby's that gawk at my pitch-perfect rendition of When Doves Cry with an unblinking, 'no CVS brand lube necessary' eye-fuck? I dunno. Maybe. Catch me on the interstate at around 5:30pm sometime and we'll find out.
Hmm, what else? Oh yeah!
Every motherfucker on the Internet missing a chromosome, but still able to access a 4Chan message board are wildin dafuq out over a 30-second teaser clip of Netflix's Dear White People.
Fuck it, maybe there's more to it than what the visuals, monologue, and every other aspect of the teaser leads me to believe there is. Perhaps I'm simply just not perceptive enough to discern the subtextual rallying cries of White Genocide® present in the clip who's message, I believe, can best be summed up with the statement "White People Who Wear Blackface: What The Fuck,Man!?!" Granted, I am genetically predispositioned to several cognitive impairing disabilities plus I'm the only person I know that genuinely enjoys eating Tapioca pudding so, it goes without saying, that my critical thinking skills are more fucked than the bathroom glory holes at a Young Republicans Retreat. That being said, the furor over a simple show would have you think that minorities are instituting outlandish policies by which White People should have to abide by under threat of White Genocide®. No one in their right mind would advocate legislation that stipulates that White People should have to compete in underground bare-knuckle boxing matches in order to qualify for Google Fiber. No person of color would mandate that White People should be taxed for every documented instance of them saying the words 'non-frap soy decaf' while placing a coffee order. It would be ludicrous to propose that anyone in possession of a playlist that features Father John Misty, The Chainsmokers, and Meghan Trainor be placed on a no-fly list and have their family members surveilled indefinitely. So maybe being quick to label a show that no one has seen and who's message you are clearly misinterpreting as hate speech against whites could be seen as deceitful at best and SO not Raven at worst.
Although, if it's just a matter of periodically feeding the beast with a steady diet of ultimately futile yet amusingly preoccupying outrage then I will indeed bid on that glass menagerie of hand-blown fuckery by providing some outrages of my own. Be sure to let me know know how trend-worthy these are because if none of them garner a significant amount of retweets from the alt-right community then, what, I'm just some reactionary fuckwit anonymously insulting strangers who disagree with me even though my own sensibilities can be best described as 'softer than Moroccan baby shit'?
How dare you even imply such a thing?
Boycott against niggas that feel comfortable commenting on the Instagram photos of women they've never met with some deeply personal shit that only serves to make people uncomfortable as fuck. (i.e. 'Glad you had fun at PCB this weekend:) BTW, your smile is just as beautiful as your mother's. Remember? You posted a pic of her 36 weeks ago. Also, I see in the background that your door is unlocked. Is that like an everyday thing or just a mulligan for today?)
Boycott against people who fail to recognize the superiority inherent in pizzas topped with pineapple and ham. I'm not saying we should base an entire eugenics program on this one trait, but I'm not NOT saying it either. You feel me?
Boycott against whoever thinks it's acceptable to use the enlarged font on their Facebook status to announce anything other than an immediate death in the family, a growing concern that you may have been shot, and a spoiler-free reaction to the newest episode of The Magicians. (It's an amazing show. Fight me.)
Boycott against push-up bras. Despite however narrow-minded and ignorantly misogynistic it sounds, THEY. ARE. LIES. Untruths coupled with ergonomic design. A 67% cotton-based fiction of mammories. Structurally sound falsehoods capable of making a man inattentively rear end the Toyota Camry in front of him thereby making him late for work and therefore obligated to listen to his sentient semen latte of a manager go on about the importance of timeliness. I swear to White Jesus, if I have to sit through just ONE more of those lectures, I'm not exactly sure of what I'll do, but I'm confident in saying that it will be a day annually commemorated both for its horror and the revelation that you indeed can kill someone just by pelting them with two day old cranberry scones.
Boycott against whatever sadist placed the volume button perilously close to the 'share' button on porn sites. I want to quiet my shame, not broadcast it like the goddamn bat signal. What person outside of Charlie Sheen's Barebacked Fuck Palace is jerking it, stops, then thinks to themselves "Wow, I sure would like to share this video of a 3-legged Bosnian GILF and the Verizon Amphitheatre full of men just waiting for their turn to penetrate her with all of my closest friends, family, and casual acquaintances." Do you want to be uninvited from future backyard BBQs and Secret Santa gift exchanges? Because that's how you get uninvited from future backyard BBQs and Secret Santa gift exchanges.
Pokemon GO. The era has since passed. The window has closed and shall forever remain closed. If your family still gathers around the fireplace Sunday evening for pleasant conversation and familial warmth then, with all due respect, fuck you. To be specific, fuck your mother. And, while we're at it, fuck your ain't shit grandmother, fuck Lil' Jessica and her bullshit Crohn's Disease, and DEFINITELY fuck Grandpa Abraham. Who just last week channeled his inner Amos and Andy by calling his waiter at IHOP 'Colored George' even though his waiter's name was actually Jackson and, judging by the fact that Abraham's Rooty Tooty Fresh 'N Fruity Pancakes had some Rooty Tooty colored balls rubbed on it like shea butter, Jackson was none too pleased about it..
Boycott against trial periods for WinZip. How come I'm the only nigga in all of human existence to be stiff-armed for the premium version at the MOMENT I try to unzip the collected Ebooks of Michael Crichton? I told them, this is what will happen when Trump gets into office, but nobody listens to me.
Boycott extra pulp, homestyle orange juice. Because it burns like chlamydia-brand battery acid if you have cavities.

How to Choose the Best Mechanical Keyboard in 2020
We spend a lot of time talking about the best CPUs or GPUs to make your computer more awesome, but you might be forgetting one upgrade that can change the experience drastically for the better: a mechanical keyboard. I make no secret of my obsession with mechanical keyboards as both a hobby and a tool of my profession. Naturally, I spend a lot of money on them. You don’t need to, though. Mechanical keyboards have never been cheaper or better, and it’s an upgrade you’ll benefit from greatly. You might be spending more time than usual at your computer as we all hunker down to limit the coronavirus pandemic, so this is a good time to jump in. But…which board should you get? And what’s all this about switches? We’re here to help.
What Makes a Keyboard Mechanical and Why You Should Have One
The keyboards that come with desktop computers are usually some version of the rubber dome design. You push the key all the way down, and the contact on the dome triggers a press. The downside is that the rubber membranes are mushy, inconsistent, and you have to push all the way down every time. Laptops aren’t much better with their scissor switches. They offer a little tactility, but the low travel and mushiness are still grating over time.
A mechanical keyboard can best be described as any board with switches that actuate before the point of bottoming out. For example, Cherry-style metal contact switches. When you press the key down, a stem moves into the housing and allows metal contacts to touch. This is what fires off each letter. Other types of switches are considered mechanical but have entirely different mechanisms. Topre switches are popular but rather expensive. These switches have a stiff rubber dome and a conical spring. Here, the actuation is triggered by a change in capacitance of the spring as you press, and the tactile bump comes from the dome collapsing. There are also Alps-style metal contacts, buckling springs, and Hall effect switches. These are all fairly uncommon in modern boards, though.
Using a mechanical keyboard can make you a much more effective typist thanks to the precise and consistent feel of the keys. Many switches also have high tactility that helps you estimate when a press will register, allowing you to release and move on to the next key without bottoming out. For gaming, you can use switches that are much smoother and faster to actuate than the keys on cheap membrane boards. The sound of a clicky switch can also be fun, provided you don’t have nearby coworkers to annoy.
Mechanical boards are also built to last. Each switch is good for millions of presses. Even with heavy use, a good mechanical keyboard can last many years. Enthusiasts actually harvest switches from decades-old keyboards with bad electronics to use in newly build custom boards.
Choosing a Form Factor
The first step in choosing the right keyboard is deciding what layout you want. The traditional full-size board is still the most common, but you might want to use your mechanical transition to change it up. A full-size board has all the keys you need to operate a computer without worrying about any function layers. There’s a full number pad as well. The main drawback of this size is that it’s rather large and inefficient. You have to move your hands rather far to reach everything and the number pad means your mouse will be pushed farther away from your main typing area. This is why I don’t like full-size boards personally.
The next step down is tenkeyless (TKL), sometimes known as 80 percent keyboards. These boards still don’t rely on function layers for basic features, but there’s no number pad. There’s still a number row, of course. If this sounds stressful to you, just give it some thought. How often do you really need a dedicated number pad? Unless you’re doing data entry, you can probably do just fine without one. This makes the board much smaller and brings the mouse in closer.
The next step down in mainstream boards is 60 percent, which has become popular in the last few years. A 60 percent board just has the alphas, number row, and modifiers. There are no dedicated arrow keys, no F-row, and no number pad. All those features are there, but they’re in the function layer. So, you hold function and press a different key. For example, the arrows are usually Fn+WASD or Fn+JIKL. The main advantage of the 60 percent form factor is that it’s compact and efficient once you get used to the function layer.
If none of those do it for you, there are some more exotic layouts that are just catching on. The 65 percent size is smaller than a TKL, but you get arrow keys and a few more keys like delete, page up/down, and so on. This is a good middle ground that I’m personally very into. The WhiteFox is a 65 percent board. They don’t take up too much space, but they reduce your dependence on function layers.
There’s also the super-small 40 percent category. These boards have just alpha keys and a few modifiers. They’re essentially pocket size and usually have at least two function-key layers to get all the basic keyboard commands covered. If you get good with a 40 percent board, you can be extremely efficient as everything is so close together.
Choosing a Switch
So, you know what size board you want, but what do you want typing to feel like? Cherry’s main mechanical switch patents expired a few years ago, so there are a ton of clone switches that are Cherry-compatible. The vast majority of boards use Cherry and Cherry clone switches, so let’s go over those.
The first order of business should be to get a switch tester. You can get one for under $20 on Amazon that has all the major Cherry variants: blue, green, brown, clear, red, and black. These switches come in three different varieties: clicky (blue and green), tactile (brown and clear), and linear (black and red). Each of those categories is split into a heavier and lighter version. Here’s a chart with the weights of each. Note: the “color codes” of clone switches are usually the same for switches with the same properties.
I can’t tell you which switches you will prefer, but I’ll note that heavy typists tend to use tactile and clicky switches, but blacks are a common choice as well. Don’t make a final decision yet, though. Your goal should be to figure out how what general type of switch you like and what weight feels best. Cherry is not the only game in town anymore, so you might be able to mix and match some of these properties to find the perfect switch.
Some of the most popular Cherry-compatible switches come from Gateron and Kailh. Gateron switches look like Cherry switches, but Kailh has a variety of innovative choices. For example, the “box” switches like the Pale Blue below are less wobbly than traditional Cherry-style stems.
Kailh x Novelkeys Box Pale Blue switch.
If you find you like tactile switches, you may consider trying a Topre board. There are very few switch testers with Topre domes, so you might need to jump in with a real keyboard like the HHKB2. Keep in mind, if you fall in love with Topre, that limits your choice of boards and keycaps. It also means you’ll spend a lot more on the keyboard.
Picking a Pre-Built Board
Now you know what pieces you want, so the challenge is finding the right board. I will say off the bat that I think you should steer clear of “gaming-oriented” boards. They try to lure you in with flashy lights, but they require annoying, buggy desktop software and often use poorer quality clone switches. Cherry, Gateron, and Kailh are all respected switch manufacturers.
A good starting point is WASD Keyboards, which makes boards in full, TKL, and 60 percent form factors. The 60 percent option is actually a re-branded Poker 3, which is available from multiple retailers. This is an excellent little board with programmable layers and a full aluminum case. WASD has a full selection of Cherry switches, as well as some more exotic options like Zealio and Cherry. That’s rare in pre-build keyboards. MechanicalKeyboards.com has numerous options like the aforementioned Vortex Poker 3, but also well-reviewed boards from Ducky, Leopold, and more.
All of the above boards are priced competitively but are not particularly inexpensive. Rantopad makes some nice TKL boards with Gateron switches. Those are a little cheaper than Cherry switches, but I think they’re just as good. You can get these for under $100.
I’m also very much a fan of the Magicforce 68 (above), which is a 65 percent board that can be had for around $60-70 with either Gateron or Cherry switches of your choice. These boards are excellent values and a good way to try a switch out in practice without dropping a lot of cash. Drop (formerly Massdrop) also has several high-end 65 percent and tenkeyless boards available most of the time. The Alt is a fully-programmable compact 65 percent, and the Ctrl is a similar tenkeyless.
Input Club’s Kono Store has a number of solid boards under the Hexgears brand. IC’s own WhiteFox, NightFox, and Kira boards are sold out at the moment. When and if they come back, those are great options for a bit more money.
Getting in Deep
So you have a keyboard, now what? Depending on how crazy you want to get, you can start customizing your board with custom keycaps and cables. You could even just decide to build your own keyboard. But why would you want to do that? With a custom board, you can put your experience with switch testers to work and find the perfect switch. Most of the cool, innovative switches in the keyboard world aren’t used in retail keyboards.
The aforementioned Zealio switches are popular and come in many variants. There are also numerous Kailh switches that offer additional spring weights and click designs that don’t have a Cherry equivalent—check out the selection at retailers like NovelKeys. There are a handful of hot-swappable boards out there, but you’ll probably have to learn to solder if you want a keyboard with these exotic switches.
The KBD75 from KBDfans.
If you want a custom board but are apprehensive about soldering, KBDfans might be your best bet. This China-based keyboard manufacturer sells DIY kits, but there are also finished boards in stock on its website. You can even buy a DIY kit of certain boards and pay $17 extra to have it assembled with the switches of your choice.
If you don’t want to jump right into custom boards, you can still jazz up your mechanical keyboard with some custom keysets. Just make sure you get a board with a mostly standard layout. You can look at the bottom row to get a good idea of whether or not a board is standard. It should have 1.25-unit modifiers and a 6.25-unit space bar. Anything else and custom keysets get more expensive and rare.
Most keysets are sold in group buys, which you have to join prior to production, then wait for the set to be produced. This can take months and gets pretty confusing. The easiest way is to join buys organized by Massdrop. You can also buy some custom sets straight-up from companies like Pimp My Keyboard and Originative. Almost every custom keyset is MX-only. If you get a Topre (or the rarer Alps), you’re out of luck here.
Expect to pay at least $60-70 for a basic set and well over $100 for a high-end custom set. You get what you pay for, though. Keycaps made from PBT or thick double-shot ABS are more durable and pleasant to type on than the caps that come with keyboards. Even the nicer mechanical keyboards don’t go all out on the keycaps. I guess they assume you’ll buy something fancy if you care that much.
The Zephyr with GMK Nautilus keycaps.
If you do decide to build a custom board, be prepared to spend at least a few hundred dollars on the kit. These keyboards are in high enough demand to command high prices, but not enough to be in mass production. So, you can easily spend $500 or more before you even get to keycaps or switches. The Zephyr above is a $600 kit that includes a PCB, plate, and case. A more modest custom kit might cost $250-300.
I’m going to close by mentioning something that sounds absolutely bananas to people who aren’t into the hobby, but you’ll get a kick out of it, I assume. For additional customization, there are “artisan keycaps.” They’re hand-sculpted and cast single keycaps that are meant to be used as decoration on keyboards (see above). They are mostly made in small batches and sold in raffles, as well as the occasional group buy on Drop. They’re expensive, and you’ll pay even more if you miss the group buy and have to buy second-hand from someone in the community. Maybe this guide will be your first step along the way to that kind of incoherent madness. I’m sorry.

Bugatti may have built just three new cars in the modern era, but their designers have been working on various concepts that never saw the light of day. Now, Bugatti has opened its vault to show us some of the secret concept cars that never made it to production.
The images released by Bugatti feature three concepts, of which two are front-engined hyper-GTs. The other car is an open-top Speedster called the Veyron Barchetta.
W16 GT “Rembrandt” Concept
This concept car seems like a precursor to the La Voiture Noire that was unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It has similar lines and also shares some design elements with the one-off. The biggest difference however is the fact that the engine is mounted in the front. This gives the car a classic GT profile with an elongated hood and short overhangs.
Bugatti Atlantic Concept
The Atlantic Concept was not so much of a secret. It was scheduled to be unveiled at Pebble Beach in 2015. However, this was around the same time when the so-called Dieselgate scandal was making headlines.
The concept car draws inspiration from the legendary 1936 Type 57 Atlantic. Again, the car is front-engined and has a rounded split grille like the original Atlantic. Bugatti designers also envisioned a convertible version finished in a dual-tone theme. However, the hard-top looks more interesting thanks to its butterfly doors and the rear clam shell.
Veyron Barchetta
The Veyron Barchetta is an open-top speedster based on the Grand Sport Vitesse. The car has a wraparound windscreen and a wider horseshoe grille at the front. The quad tail lights have been replaced with slim, horizontal units.
After looking at these renderings, I am sure there will be at least one wealthy individual who would want Bugatti to build a one-off for him. If they do, it will be a worthy rival for the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta.

John’s father was a member of Men of Letters. He would have been a legacy and would have become a member too since both his father and grandfather were part of them. Unfortunately when his father was killed by Abaddon when he was 4 he was never brought into the group.
(Men of Letters is a secret organization of scholars who research the supernatural. They undergo a period of teaching in areas of arcane knowledge and rituals and, if they pass, are initiated into the most secret knowledge. They saw Hunters as a necessary evil in doing their work, but viewed their use of violence with contempt.
§ The symbol of the group is the Aquarian Star.
§ Membership of the group is open to both men and women.
§ Membership is hereditary.
§ Albert Magnus is the name members use when going incognito. Albertus Magnus was a German Dominican friar from the 13th century who advocated the peaceful coexistence of religion and science.
§ They have stored in The Bunker their collected knowledge "every object, scroll, spell ever collected for thousands of years under one roof...the safest place on earth, warded against any evil ever created."[1]. The key to this place is in The Box.
The Order based in Kansas was destroyed by a Knight of Hell, Abaddon, on August 12, 1958. The surviving members Henry Winchester, and the elder Larry Ganem, both died at the hands of Abaddon in 2013.)
Others John had contact with through his hunting years
§ Bobby Singer - Knew John since the boys were small. The last time he saw John alive, they argued and Bobby pointed and cocked a shotgun at him.
§ Adam Milligan - John's son, the product of a brief relationship John had with Kate Milligan.
§ Jim Murphy - Knew John since the boys were small.
§ Caleb - Weapons and munitions supplier for hunters.
§ Missouri Mosely - A psychic he sought help from after Mary's death and the person who first told him of the supernatural.
§ Deacon - Was in the Marines with John.
§ Bill Harvelle - Was on a hunt with John when he was killed.
§ Ellen Harvelle - Part of the hunting world, she also partly blamed John for her husband's death.
§ Daniel Elkins - A hunter John had fallen out with.
§ Martin Creaser - A hunter who had a mental breakdown.
§ Fred Jones - A psychokinetic John was acquainted with.
