re. that last post, i could go into much greater depth than anyone wants, but basically my take here is

“god, I wish I knew so little about the Dune universe that ‘hey! those guys [products of millennia of eugenics] are cousins!’ was the most problematic detail I knew about”

do i ship Paul and Feyd-Rautha? nah. it’s fun to see them interact, and the parallels between them are fascinating. it’s not a shipping thing for me. but we are talking about a book series where there’s shit like: the protagonist comparing himself to Hitler, specifically to say that he is worse than Hitler; a guy who decides being a monstrous dictator for thousands of years is the only way to save humanity; a guy climbs a cliff in such a way that a woman observing him orgasms; a cult of sex ninjas who brag about their vast knowledge of sex techniques; oh yeah, the millennia of eugenics with the express purpose of producing a turbo-psychic, which actually has a 100% success rate of turning out barely-controlled weirdos. and all this barely scratches the surface of the weird/heinous/heinously weird stuff that goes down

Dune is really stupid. Dune is a work of genius. Dune is a book series where the majority of the characters end up saying “I never thought the face-eating leopards would eat my face!”

Oh god. There’s so many. I’ll stick to the less...intense ones tho bc honestly? If you harass people because you don’t like them/their art/opinions/etc. you just look like a fucking insane person that needs some serious help. Like I cannot stress how fast any good/valid points someone can make fly right out the window in when they do this.

Anyway. Just to name a few:

In general, writing fucking collegiate term paper/essay length posts about all the things that are problematic and/or all the things that upset them personally in a series about people in goofy outfits punching the fuck out of other people in even goofier outfits with their spirit summons that they are watching of their own volition.

The classic “Joseph is a cheater and a liar and manipulator and if you like him you’re just like that irl and condone cheating and lying” argument

Possibly the even more infamous ‘If you like Battle Tendency, you are a literal, actual Nazi’ dumbfuckery

Some of the wildest “anti”/“anti anti” clownery I have ever seen. It’s honestly too much to name specific incidents.

Some kid trying to put a “hex” on an artist they didn’t like by using some dumb shit they found in like an old Cosmopolitan magazine or some shit. Instead of like... blocking them.

People having total fucking meltdowns because an artist will mutually block them, yet they go around the block on another account and continue to message and harass the the artist about how bad the art in question was triggering to them.

People getting mad pressed over other people liking the villains. DIO and La Squadra in particular.

Some of the pb&j with the crust cut off, whitest kids I’ve ever seen in my entire life continuously defining and redifining whitewashing and policing what’s “racist” and what’s not. As in (for example), I have seen a Japanese artist with a “typical anime but with more hyperrealistic detailing” art style get accused of whitewashing Jotaro and Josuke (both half-Japanese) because they had drawn them with very defined jaws/noses/cheekbones/etc (more prominent than in the anime) and just looked more model-esque than they normally do.

This is more general/not just related to jjba only, but the “trend” of using slurs/racist language “ironically” and/or having “headcanons” of a character being racist/homophobic/transphobic/etc. etc. is just... fucking weird and gross to me?

🔥 ℝise Ⱥbove I̾t ◈ My Hero Academia [47/?] ◔

Hello, and welcome to my brand new fanfiction for the anime My Hero Academia/Boku no Hero Academia! This anime makes me so happy and I’m always so hyped when I watch the anime. I’ve been reading a lot of fanfiction for the series lately, and I decided I wanted to write, one as well! I spent weeks trying to find a plot that worked for me and I’m so excited that I found one.

I’d like to give some information about the series before you begin reading!

First off, this fic will be written in the first-person point of view, occasionally switching to third-person for the story’s sake. The original character, Jen Winchester, is quite snarky and cusses like a sailor, so I’d like to add a warning for explicit language. I usually go with really angsty themes, and I was planning on making it that way at first, but I want to try and create a fic that makes people laugh and smile! That’s not to say there won’t be any angst at all, but I’m going to try and make it less so with her remarks and attitude.

While I am mainly writing this fic for myself because it makes me happy, I’m more than happy to share it with others! Hopefully, you guys enjoy it as much as I am. I hope you’ll take a moment to share your thoughts and comments with me~

As for the pairing, I haven’t yet decided who she will be paired with, but there will be romance later on. Currently, I’m thinking of Todoroki or someone from class 1-B, but this could change in the future. I will try my best not to make her a Mary-Sue or super overpowered. I’ve gone over the plot of this fic with my friend, who is super critical when it comes to the small details, so hopefully, everything will flow smoothly from one event to the other without too many plot holes.

Jen Winchester grew up in a world where superpowers exist only on the big screen or lining the pages of books. She’s just a normal seventeen-year-old girl trying to make it through high school while fending off her childhood bullies, Skye and Heather, but she’s always been a problematic child in the eyes of those around her. She was raised by her grandfather, Shimazu Tegu, who did his best to act as both mother and father, but there is a lot he has kept hidden from her.

When her bullying is taken too far, Jen finds herself in a precarious situation – she gave Skye third-degree burns just by touching her face. Dazed and confused, her world begins to swirl around her like an unforgiving tornado. She is whisked away to a different world where most of the population have powers, known simply as ‘Quirks’.

She begins her journey of self-discovery, determined to find her place in the universe, all the while trying to piece together her mother’s haunting past. Does she have what it takes to become a hero? Or will she fall down the same dark path as her mother?
