🔒 [Lock] Would you let your family, friends, or other people you know in real life read your WIP?

NO ! i'd actually rather poke my own eyes out tbh. the main explanation there is that nobody in my real life knows that i even like fanfiction or participate in fan communities, let alone that i WRITE fic in an rpf fandom. my family is largely rlly conservative and religious and i don't have irl friends who i trust with this kind of info about me lmao. there's literally one person in my whole life who i've known irl and talked to about fandom stuff, and even then, she was into like... canon het ships, so i never got in the nitty gritty of it.

separately, yes, i hate when people read my creative writing. i've never minded sharing my analytical stuff (research papers from college etc), mainly because i think i'm better at it than most people i know? which sounds egotistical, but operationally just means nobody was really in a position to criticize my literary analysis bc none of them knew enough theory to be like 'actually that's not what xyz scholar meant by that.' additionally, i write 27425304284 words every week for work and everyone reads them and idgaf bc again, i think i'm pretty good at that part of my job. sharing CREATIVE work is mortifying. i think if anybody ever criticized it in any way i would burst into very real tears. it's why i don't have ppl proof my stuff or pre-read it, like i actually ONLY want to know people's opinions on my stuff if they are complimentary and through the internet, otherwise i will dissolve into a puddle of self-critical goo. i haven't shared creative writing voluntarily outside of a classroom since i was like nine years old.

📚 [Books] Is this WIP part of a series or standalone?

short answer, yes, dad lando will probably be a 'verse at some point. I'm not planning anything else CLOSE to the length of the main/original fic, but i have at least three or four one-shot ideas that i might write down the line. i talked about enough out-of-scope stuff in early dad lando asks that i have ideas just sitting around about older emma - the second child thing, the emma in the paddock thing, exploring emma and oscar's relationship when it's strong - and additionally there's a landoscar wedding plot knockin around in my brain among other assorted future-y things for lando, osc and emma. not guaranteeing anything bc i have nooooo idea how i'm gonna feel when this is done and out there, but i'd say odds are better than not!

জর্জ কুপার, শেলডনের বাবা মারা যায়। জর্জের মরনোত্তম অনুষ্ঠানে সবাই আসে জর্জের স্মৃতি রোমহন্থনে। ম্যারি কথা শেষ করার আগে কান্নায় ভেঙে পড়ে। ম্যারিকে সামলানোর জন্য তার মা, জর্জের শাশুড়ি উঠে। সে তখন জর্জের কাহিনি বলে।

This lady was born without any innate Magic despite coming from a bloodline chock full of it. Despite being taught day in and day out, being above average at the theory, she has never been able to cast alone.

After years of put downs from her family she makes contact with a being outside of reality. Neintur, A God of Knowledge, he claims, one banished for his actions, consuming the eyes of not only his followers but those innocent and unsuspecting. He knows things Nintora had never dreamed of, about things and people she thought she knew.

Nintora has a yearning of her own. She was taught to want and need and desire, and more than anything she wants a power of her own. She asks if he can grant this to her. He says no, but knows of a way she recieve it if she helps him.

Godhood. Just one should be enough to retore what is rightfully hers and more, though they are hidden and fleeting and usually only come out for those chosen by the already powerful.

So, she plays the villain. Attempting to lure out chosen Heroes by causing problems and snatching their potential from beneath their noses by using her cunning and pool of near infinite knowledge.

She's cheery and bubbly, prone to stupid impulsive decisions, and has a superiority inferiority complex. She loves no one and is attatched to and obsessed with her associates instead.

I liked the time differential and how the "sky ship" was built into the planet's mythology. Then the people eventually do make it out! Also what happened to the EMH's kid?

I'd be hard pressed to come up with an ultimate favorite quote, since it changes depending on which show is currently on in the background of my life, what season's on, my mood, etc. One I heard today that always sticks with me is this one:

"Space. Literally it means nothing, a vacuum between stars and planets, but by the same token it means everything. It's what connects all our worlds."

This is a concept that has fascinated me for a while. I tend to get caught up in thinking about numbers and how close infinity and zero are to each other. (I took college calculus by myself, so many times my answer would be ∞ then I'd do it again and it would be 0, rinse, repeat). It's everything, it's nothing, it's everything! I find it a beautiful little push-pull, like an ocean wave, vaivén. Plus, space is mostly empty, and there's so much we simply cannot know about it. I will never go to actual space in my lifetime, but I am consumed by narratives about space and its infinite possibility. This silly space show connects us in the same way that space connects us -- we may be on opposite sides of the planet but we still share similarities, be it because of our favorite Starfleet officer or the fact that we can look up at the same moon at night.

🍽️ Alien food/drink I'd want to try

Drinks? Probably raktajino at the top of the list for drinks, though I probably would try any of the various alien ales/wines at least once. I'd probably love synthehol honestly. A nice Tarkalean tea. A Samarian Sunset, though not sure if Quark or Data should make it.  A fancy Tzartak aperitif.

As for food... leola root. I have a whole leola root theory that one day maybe I'll write down, but is it really all that bad? 'Cause Neelix keeps making it, and they keep eating it, even after replicators aren't really being rationed anymore. Fetran sauce 'cause I cannot fathom what it might be. I like the food details, and while I'm a picky eater, I'd probably try a fair bit of it.

Unfortunately this was a hobby his abusive ex bullied him out of, and it's been taking gentle nudging by Riven and the rest of the Bro Squad for him to get back into it. A trip to Gridania post-Endwalker where he was honored for his services in protecting the Shroud (EW Tank Role Quest) had a Bard stone fall into his path, and he's been taking lessons. Slowly.

During Ishgard's isolation, Mathye was singlehandedly responsible for helping a small faction of Ishgardian conjurers gain more influence and respect within the city. This was due to the fact that he was the first Ishgardian to be sent outside the city for White Mage training.

warning, personal headcanon ahead

Native Ishgardian conjury (I headcanon that the practices differ in each country) had been completely assimilated by the Church, with more focus put on magical healing than listening to the elements. While recovering from the injury that resulted in his medical discharge from active service as a dragoon...the following happened.

Mathye could hear the elementals and he had the raw magical power, so he was dragged into the church's study for conjury. And because of the Calamity and the enteral freeze, nobody's giving a shit about the elements anymore

There was very small vocal minority who are trying to push about this--but were failing.

Then Mathye one day in his studies, comes across a white mage stone. It gets confiscated but guess what, it keeps popping back up on him, around him, and so forth and so on

There's some higher ups who do some research and go 'hmm, having a white mage might be good for the cause', there's other sycophants screaming 'Heresy!!!!', but the crux of the matter is, anything white magic is Gridania, and as Ishgard is (for me in theory anyway) heavily reliant on Gridania being a partial breadbasket for them, this May Become A Problem.

Mathye being Mathye, who wants to study at the Gridanian conjurer's guild, wants to master this stone, basically goes 'better to seek forgiveness than ask permission' and fucks off to Gridania

Naturally This Causes More Problems.

E-Sumi is going 'what the fuck' at this Ishgardian who has a soul stone that's like 'i'm not fuckin movin' and is a walking talking sheer fount of raw magical power and just is like 'He needs training. He needs actual, proper, training that isn't religious rite and rote' because again, Ishgardian conjury is no longer what it used to be. He needs training because he's going to have to deal with ice and wind elementals howling bloody fucking murder and he needs the fortitude to stop his ears up against that. He needs training because there probably will have plants that desperately are needed for food or medicine in a greenhouse and the church has nobody who has the knowledge to help them grow quickly and safely and with respect and care using magic. He needs training because he's probably going to hear an ice elemental raging with a blizzard on the way and that's probably the only warning you're going to get. Pray to Halone all you want but she's not going to make the crops in your greenhouse grow.

So the Church had to relent.

Mathye sucks up as much secular knowledge (including alchemy lessons from Ul'dah) as he can before he's got to go back home. He returns, and has to take the path to priesthood even though he's serving as a Knight-Dragoon healer, because there are some who are drooling over the idea of a living, breathing, white mage being used against the Dravanians.

Fortunately for Mathye, so much shit gets kicked off that there's very little focus paid to that particular idea.

🏎️: Although a trademark such as a logo can never be officially approved as an emoji or other Unicode character, there's nothing stopping font designers from finding other ways to include them. Apple (I guess taking advantage of the fact that race cars often have logos on them) uses this emoji to represent the logo of their Swift programming language, shown as a decal on the side of the car! (Swift has full emoji support -- you can use them in your code.)

🖋️: Unicode normally tries to avoid having multiple emoji with use cases so similar as to make them redundant, so why were the fountain pen 🖋️ and ballpoint pen 🖊️ both approved and added at the same time? They didn't explicitly say why, but to me, the most likely reason is compatibility! See both of these are characters in the Wingdings 2 font, which were added to Unicode in 2014 in a move to create compatibility between Unicode and the Wingdings and Webdings fonts! One of the principles that the Unicode Consortium follows when planning for compatibility is that it has to go both ways! Text should be able to be converted into Unicode and back to its original format without losing anything. So if they only did one pen emoji, then when converting a Wingdings 2 text to Unicode, in theory either pen character could be converted into the same pen emoji, but then when you convert it back to traditional alphanumeric Wingdings 2, how do you know which pen emoji was in the original? Using two characters avoids this problem!

It's a bit of history/personal it's Plato theory 'ᴠɪʀᴛᴜᴇ ɪs ᴋɴᴏᴡʟᴇᴅɢᴇ' and how Socrates tackles this idea with his associates. But with this in mind, it's something that can be used with todays lifestyle, so with Virtue is knowledge we are able to teach ourselves to see the bad things before we act on it. Virtue is indeed all about grasping clearly what is good and why it is is good. My ex always use to say to me 'Speak kind words Hear kind Echoes' this is virtue and it's being good as good will come back to you... Do you like my sketches of both Plato and Socrates.....?
