if failing that final wasn’t bad enough, the little store right around your apartment being empty of your favorite ramen really just dug that burning, searing knife into the center of your chest as you let your head fall on the shelf, giving up.
“it’s not worth it,” you told yourself, trying to talk yourself out of getting a new hairdo, something you always did when life was going wrong, “not now.” you couldn’t afford the hair products anyways.
it felt like the entire world was about to crash down on you, but as you lifted your gaze up, it seemed as though a little halo was forming from the florescent light above your head.
a pack of that ramen was settled on the top shelf, gleaming in it’s red essence as you grinned almost manically to yourself.
however, seeing that it was on the top shelf (it even said to ask for assistance if needing something from the shelf right under the ramen), but you didn’t care. it was ten at night, your day was going to shit, and over your dead body were you asking for help when you could just crane a bit and go on your tiptoes.
you looked around, making sure nobody was there as you reached your arm out, grunting a little bit as your fingers wiggled to grab at the packaging wincing at the stretch you felt in your legs and hands.
but just as you were about to get a hold of it, a larger hand snatched it up so quickly you doubted you even saw it as you whipped your head around, feeling as the words almost stopped in your mouth as you tried to see who just took your ramen away from you.
a man, his head almost the height of the top shelf looked down at you, his eyebrows drawing together once he saw your expression. you were startled for a second by just how good he looked (especially this late at night when everybody else looked like a bum), but his piercing eyes and strong facial features didn’t stop you from snapping at the stranger.
“i swear to god,” you said, your voice quivering, on the break of crying as you cleared your throat, “if you take that ramen i will scream and cry and cut off all of my hair right here, right now, and pry it out of your hands, i don’t care what anybody says.” you yelled quietly, your eyes raging, full of fire as your hands stood shaking by your side.
your gpa was ruined, you weren’t going to see your friends like you had planned to this weekend, and this ramen was your only saving grace as of right now.
“i,” he swallowed his hand outstretched to yours as he offered you the ramen with no sort of fight, “just looked like you needed some help.” he explained, his voice deep as it fell like hot honey upon your ears, and the furious expression almost melted off of your face as heat warmed at your cheeks in embarrassment as you realized what he had done.
he gave you a small smile as you looked down, taking the ramen from him silently as you muttered out a small thank you as you shoved your other fist into the pocket of your hoodie. he scratched the back of his head as he cleared his throat with a cough.
he was waiting for the other realization to hit you, the ne that normally happened when people could place his looks as the ones they’d seen on magazines, but you looked so tired right now he doubted you could even decipher him through his sweatshirt and baseball cap.
“you okay?” he asked, his eyes searching your, noting the dark bags that settled under them, the slump of your shoulder and the way your lip seemed to tremble even after he had given you your ramen. almost as if you were going to crack at any moments notice.
“yeah,” you rubbed at your tired eyes, “really sorry about that,” you muttered, shaking your head to yourself as you kicked your shoe on the ground, sending a little piece of plastic flying, “it’s just been a really rough day. no excuse for yelling at you, though.” you hurriedly explained, but he just nodded in understanding, his lips pressed tightly together as he glanced over at the ramen.
“is your semester over?” he asked, already knowing you were a college student. they were pretty easy to snuff out, especially during the holidays.
you nodded, glancing over to the side as you shifted your weight on the other leg.
“mhm, just finished today.”
he grunted, his molten colored eyes never leaving yours as you felt yourself heating up under his watchful gaze. he looked so familiar yet you couldn’t place it, but you were a little bit too delirious to put some thought into it as you tried not to melt under his heavy look. it’s been a  while since somebody, especially as handsome as him, had looked at you like that.
“then try not worry, it’s over now,” he told you, and you scoffed at his words, wishing it could be as easy as that, the semester’s weight still settling on your shoulders as he continued, “nah, i know what it’s like though....but, it’s always better to stop thinking about it. you can relax a bit now, yeah?”
you nodded, your eyes watering a bit as a stranger tried to console you in the ramen aisle.
“want me to get the other one?” he asked, pointing the other packet of ramen that had been hiding behind the one you were holding. you looked around, not even noticing it until now, but you hurriedly nodded, thanking him profusely as you stepped to the side to offer him some room. you tried not to let your eyes room at the sliver of skin that peeked out from his shirt riding up, or the defined muscles of his abs, your eyes widening as bit as he handed it to you.
“thank you so much,” you whispered, not trusting your wobbly voice as he gave you a firm nod.
there was a silent pause as he looked at his watch, looking down the aisle as he offered his hand, a small shake as you brought your empty one out of your pocket, the size difference between the two of you funny enough to make you laugh a little at the sight.
“katsuki,” he said, introducing yourself as you tried to squint, the name now awfully familiar.
“y/n,” you mirrored, and he smiled, the sight to pretty that you almost forgot that he was a stranger your had just met a couple minutes ago.
“i gotta go, but,” he dug into the pocket of his sweatpants, digging out a card as he offered it to you, “if you ever need anything, or need some help with ramen,” he paused as you giggled, the sound sweet as it carried it’s way to his ears, his cheeks growing pink as your eyes crinkled around the edges, a pretty sight, “just gimme a call.”
he big his farewells, leaving you as you flipped the card around, your gaze narrowing as you tried to read it, your eyes instantly widening when you read it fully.
bakugo katsuki, pro hero dynamite’s agency, his number listed right after it.
you looked around your shoulder to call out and ask if this was a joke, but he was long gone. the only trace of the infamous hero being the card in one hand and the two packs of ramen in the other.

A Grumpy Troll and A Prince

Chapter 8 ~ A Happy Ending
Tags: Comedy, action, adventure, and romance
Today was the big day. The return of the long awaited holiday, Trollistice! All the Bergens made their way through town, all the way to the castle while repeatedly chanting "Trollistice! Trollistice! Trollistice!" King X waited at the top of the stairs, hoping that his plus one would show up. He held onto the skate that the boy had lost on their date night.
Servants wandered the kitchen with dishes and supplies as Mr Puzzles opened a big container and said "Let's prepare our main course." He zipped open the bags and dumped the rest of the village into the big pot. "THE TROLLS!" The trembling things watched as the TV man gave them a sinister grin before closing and locking the lid. The king slowly got up as he looked around, thankfully spotting the prince. "Smg4! Thank goodness your okay!" he said in relief, running over to hug the unharmed troll. However, Four didn't seem like his usual happy, cheerful self.
He pushed the king away and said "I'm doing great. I got everybody I love thrown into a pot. Thanks for asking." Smg3 pushed through the crowd to see how miserable Four was. Mario quietly asked "Is Smg4...being...sarcastic...?"
"YES!" Four shot back in anger, which frightened everyone and Boopkins once again replied "Oh my god." much more startled this time. Four turned from anger to guilt and regret. "I'm so sorry. I don't know why I thought I could save you." His friends looked sad to see him this way as he continued. "I just wanted to keep everyone safe. But I couldn't." He turned his back and said "I let everyone down..." as tears trickled down his cheeks. This pain was too much for him so with nothing left to do, Four collapsed onto his knees and gave up.
Three couldn't bear to see Four like this. He sighed and started "But Four..." until the prince cut him off. "You were right Three. The world isn't all fun and laughter." Then something massively depressing happened. Just like Three did long ago, Four's colors began to fade. Tari and Melony gasped, hearts breaking. Bob tried to act like it didn't bother him, but his eyes lowered. Mario sadly whispered "Smg4..." in great ache. Now that the prince had given up, all his friends had given up too, causing everyone to fade as well.
Three watched as all the color had left till nothing was left except grayness and great sorrow. Three sat in silence thinking to himself. Four just can't give up like this. But what could he do?
FM was scrubbing dishes when he saw his reflection in the plate. He sighed and looked over to the roller skate on his bed. What had he done?
X sat patiently in his seat, watching everyone come in and not one of them was the guy he wanted. He held the other roller skate and frowned. Had he gotten his hopes up for nothing?
Nothing, but silence. Soon they would be put out of their misery. Three just kept watching Four with a heavy heart. He should've been happy that he was right. But he didn't want to be right. He wanted to be...his friend.
Four's tears were still dripping and he refused to speak. Then out of nowhere, he heard behind him-
"You with the sad eyes."
Four's eyelids slowly flickered as his friends wondered who was singing that sweet tune. Four looked over and they all saw that it was Three.
"Don't be discouraged."
Four was surprised at first to hear this grumpy troll finally singing, but he soon dismissed it, seeing that it didn't matter anymore. Three walked up and knelt next to the prince as he just stared at the ground. Three placed a hand on his chin and brought his head up to meet the other's eyes.
"Oh I realize. It's hard to take courage. In a world full of people. You can lose sight of it all. The darkness inside you can make you feel so small."
Four's hug time bracelet went off and Three opened his arms to gesture a hug, but Four just ignored it and covered the light till the stupid thing went off. Soon all the other trolls's bracelets were going off, harmonizing a gentle tune. FM was outside, putting his ear to the pot so he could see if the trolls were okay. "What are you doing!?" FM jumped back in surprise to see Mr Puzzles standing behind him. "The king is waiting! GET THOSE TROLLS OUT THERE!"
"Sorry Mr Puzzles." FM said in fear as he pushed the cart down the hall. "Oh you will be sorry." Mr Puzzles glared at him, keeping a watchful eye.
Three softly grabbed Four's hand and helped pull him up, wiping the tears from his cheeks.
"Show me a smile then. Don't be unhappy. Can't remember when I last saw you laughing."
He tried doing a funny little slide to cheer Four up, which kinda worked because the prince snickered a little.
"This world makes you crazy. And you've taken all you can bear. Just call me up cause I will always be there."
As Three continued singing, Four's blue skin and cute overalls regained their natural color as he watched in awe.
"And I see your true colors shining through. I see your true colors."
Then Three said one of the nicest things he had in his entire life with pure honesty.
"And that's why I love you..."
Four gasped and turned around to see if Three was being genuine. He saw that Three was actually smiling and holding his hand out. Four gladly sang back to him as he placed his hand in his partner's and they intertwined fingers.
"So don't be afraid to let them show~"
Three's colors returned back to him as well in a radiant purple glow.
"Your true colors. True colors are beautiful."
The two danced around, singing and locking eyes with each other as everyone watched and regained their colors back as well.
"I see your true colors shinning through."
"True colors."
"I see your true colors. And that's why I love you."
"So don't be afraid to let them show."
Mario watched them in excitement, squeezing Mario Jr and both regained their colors as well.
"Your true colors."
"True colors are beautiful."
"Like an rainbow~"
"Like an rainbow~"
"THAT WAS THE MOST ADORABLE THING MARIO HAS EVER SEEN!"
The two rolled their eyes playfully at Mario as they hugged each other, never wanting to let go.
"Thank you Three." Smg3 shook his head and said "No. Thank you Four." He was a bit confused on what Three meant. "For what?"
"For showing me how to be happy." Four's eyes widened as he burst out "Really? You're finally happy!? Now?" Three chuckled and said "Yup. I mean happiness is inside of all of us, right? Sometimes you just need someone to help you find it." Four gave him a warm, glowing smile as one of the trolls asked "What do we do now?" Four took a breath and said "I don't know, but we're not giving up."
Just then a rumbling sound crashed down on them and the pot shook. The lid slowly opened, showing rays of light seeping in. "This is it Mario Jr! We're going to the spaghetti gods! Don't go into the light!" FM appeared with a concerned look as the trolls looked surprised. "Smg4!"
"FM?" He looked back down the hall behind them, where the chanting sounds for trolls were. "What are you doing?" FM picked up Four and told him "I can't let them eat you!"
"But-"
It was too late to change his mind as FM dumped the pot out and said "You gotta go! Hurry! Get out of here!" He set Four down as he panicked. "No! FM if you go in without us, you know what they'll do to you!" He nodded and headed to the door. "But FM..."
"It's okay! It's okay." He knelt down and said "You showed me what it feels like to be happy. I never would have found out if it wasn't for you. And I'm glad to call you my friend." Four looked up at him like he was crazy, but sighed and said "Me too." They could hear the Bergens getting impatient and Mr Puzzles calling out for FM. He quickly got up and ran back to the door. "Go on now! You have to hurry!"
Four tried to think of another solution. "Come with us!" But FM refused in an attempt to save them. "And make it easier for them to find you? No way! You have to go now!" He started closing the door, but Four stopped and pleaded "FM!" Sadly, he pushed Four away with his finger, but Four hugged it tight, having to say goodbye to his new friend. Tears formed in FM's eyes as he whispered "Goodbye Four." and shut the door.
"Trolls! Trolls! Trolls!" The Bergens cheered as FM rolled in the cart with their dinner. King X, in a state of anxiousness, called out "WAIT! We should wait for FightingMario54321!" Mr Puzzles smiled and said "Oh of course! You're right!" He simmered down the crowd and announced "There will be no trolls until the king's plus one has arrived!" FM sighed as the rowdy crowd complained that they had waited long enough. Mr Puzzles smirked and said "Well unless..."
"Unless what?" X asked. "Well unless he doesn't come at all. But that's crazy!" He leaned on the table, holding his head with his hand. "Who wouldn't want to be with you?" X looked around as the Bergens all whispered and murmured to each other. He looked disappointed, but put down the skate and said "Yeah...let's start." The crowd erupted back into their excited cheers while FM nervously looked at the pot.
All the trolls escaped back through the old tunnel. Four and Three helped them in, making sure everyone got out of here safely. As the last remaining trolls went through the hole, Four looked back at the castle. "Four?" The prince told him "FM just ruined his life to save ours. That's not right! He deserves to be happy as much as we do." He paused for a few seconds and said "They all do..."
"All right everybody! Who's ready to eat some trolls!" As X stared at the roller-skate, thinking about why his date never showed up, Mr Puzzles tried to take his mind off it with something better. "King X, there is only one thing that will make you happy and only one guy who can provide it." He unlocked the lid and lifted it up. "Enjoy everyone!" When he looked down, he instantly gasped. "They're gone..." Memories of that time he got fired all those years ago replayed in his mind.
All the Bergens and the king said the same thing. "Gone!?" Mr Puzzles would not let himself go back to that horrible, disgusting life, where he was nobody. He looked over to FM and said in a low voice "What did you do GM?" He inched closer as the servant backed away in fear. "You ate them didn't you? You greedy pig!"
"No...I..." The crowd and the king grew angry with him as the TV struck back "I will not lose my image again! GUARDS LOCK HIM UP!" Starman and MM surrounded him with their spears as he shut his eyes, preparing for the worst.
Suddenly, Four and his friends crashed through the window, riding on FM's skate and flew up into the air. FM watched as they jumped off and landed atop of his head as the skate landed on his foot, spinning around as the trolls created the very same hair of his alternate. X gasped, along with the crowd as he said in shock "FightingMario54321?" He slowly skated over to him as the trolls recoiled back their hair. "What?" Mr Puzzles was at a lost for words.
"But how? Why? Why did you do this?"
Four told him "Because he didn't think you would want someone like him." FM nodded and said "I mean is it me you're looking for? I don't think so." Mr Puzzles was done with this nonsense and yelled "Guards! Finish him!" They point their spears as the prince yells "WAIT! King X, when you were with FM, you were feeling something."
He realized he did and said "Yeah. I just thought it was too much pizza." FM excitedly replied "Me too!" Four laughed and said "That was happiness." The Bergens looked confused as one asked "But don't you have to eat a troll to be happy?"
"But X hasn't ever eaten a troll in his life!" The king smiled and held out the roller skate he saved. "No I haven't. And yet I am here with a full heart." He slipped it onto FM's foot as they smiled and held hands. The crowd was peeked with interest as Mr Puzzles went into rage and yelled "Don't listen to him! There's only one way to be happy! MY WAY!" He pushed the couple apart and headed straight to the trolls at the table.
"NO!" FM shouted out, but before anything could be done, Mr Puzzles snatched up Three and forced the king into his seat. "WITH ME IN CHARGE, I'LL SERVE YOU TROLL EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR!" He opened X's mouth and threw Three onto his tongue. "WITH ME AS KING, ALL OF LIFE WILL HAVE NEVER ENDING HAPPINESS THAT CAN WATCH MY SHOWS AND THEN I'LL BE ON TOP AGAIN!
X started dragging his tongue closer as Three scrambled away and Mr Puzzles just kept screaming "EAT! EAT!" Four dove and saved Three at the last second. "Happiness isn't something you can put inside of you Mr Puzzles! Sometimes you just need someone to help you find it." Three smiled as Four had reused that line he had told him earlier.
All the Bergens started bombarding with questions on if they could really be happy. Mr Puzzles started looking around frantically. "Of course! It's inside of you and all of us! And I don't think it, I feel it!"
A blue spotlight fell upon the prince as the final song was about to begin.
"I got this feeling inside my bones! It goes electric wavy when I turn it on!"
Three joined in on the song, busting out some dance moves that nobody ever knew he had.
"And if you want it inside your soul~"
Both of them high five, singing together "Just open up your heart and let the music take control!"
They dance so well in sync together as the bass gets louder.
"I've got that sunshine in my pocket! Got that good song in my feet!"
Their friends gladly join In as all the trolls go into bewilderment, probably thinking what the heck was happening.
"I feel that hot blood in my body when it drops! Ooh~"
"I can't take my eyes up off him when he's moving so sensational!"
"This room on lock the way we rock it so don't stop!"
The others continue dancing and clapping their hands to the music as some Bergens actually seem to be enjoying it.
"Under the lights when everything goes~ Nowhere to hide when I'm getting you close!"
"Can't stop! Won't stop!"
"When we move, well you already know!"
Mr Puzzles sees Starman and MM start to shake to the music.
"So just imagine, just imagine, just imagine!"
Boopkins then notices someone is missing. "Uh guys, where's Bob?"
Suddenly, Bob come out with a sick dj mixer and yells "I'M RIGHT HERE LADIES! AND I BROUGHT A FEW FRIENDS!" All the trolls rain down from the ceiling as the room is covered in strobe lights and a disco ball hangs from up above.
"Nothing I can't see but you when you dance, dance, dance!"
"Feel the good good creep up on you so just dance, dance dance! Come on!"
Starman and MM block Mr Puzzles with their spears as they're now too lost in the music to do any guarding.
"All those things I shouldn't do but you, dance, dance, dance!"
Bergens find that their shoulders start bouncing to the beat and their heads are bobbing along with the music. Maybe they didn't need to eat a troll to be happy after all.
"And ain't nobody leaving soon so keep dancing~"
Four helps some other Bergens get into the groove with some spinning and Three is riding along a chain of Bergens, holding hands.
"I can't stop the feeling! So just dance, dance, dance!"
"I can't stop the feeling! So just dance, dance, dance!"
"I can't stop the feeling! So keep dancing, come on!"
All the Bergens felt so happy that they threw off their bibs, never to eat a troll again. Mr Puzzles was furious as he pushed past the guards and was about to zap the trolls with his lightning. FM saw and threw his spoon at him. "Ow! WHO DID THAT!?" Some other trolls got some laser pointers and shinned them in his eyes. "AH! STOP THAT!" He covered his eyes, unaware that Melony and Tari pulled out a rope to trip him and Mr Puzzles fell in the pot. It started rolling towards the exit while Mario and Meggy lit a match and threw it in, catching the TV man's suit on fire. "Whoopee! A barbecue!"
The cart flew out the entrance to the castle and down the stairs. Four and his friends came outside, where Mr Puzzles shouted "CURSE YOU! I'LL GET YOU! I'LL GET YOU ALL!" Tag6 poked her head out and screamed in terror when she saw the flaming TV man in an out of control cart. It broke down the door to town and the two disappeared into the forest, never to be seen again.
With Mr Puzzles banished for the 2nd time, the sky turned bright again and colors flooded the streets as the trolls and Bergens danced down the stairs and through town in celebration.
"I can't stop the feeling!"
"Nothing I can't see but you when you dance, dance, dance!"
"I can't stop the feeling!"
"Feel the good creeping up on you so just dance, dance, dance!"
"I can't stop the feeling!"
"All the things I shouldn't do but you dance, dance, dance!"
"I can't stop the feeling!"
"And ain't nobody leaving soon so keep dancing~"
They watched in amazement as the old troll tree was restored to the thriving tree in the past and all the trolls and Bergens gathered around, but for a much better reason. Four stood in front of the king as he placed a blue flower crown upon his head and announced "Our new King!"
Four looked upon the crowd as he watched his subjects cheering, FM and his new lover X encouraging him, and of course Mario was in the background, screaming "That's Mario's best friend! Mario is best friends with the king!"
He turned to see Three approaching and they held hands when Boopkins used his surprising strength from a few days ago to hoist them up above the town and tree. Three told him "I know it's not really my thing and it's not hug time yet, but..." He opened his arms as Four looked and gave a smirking face. In a silly tone, he replied "Now that I'm king, I decree that hug time..."
His humor cleared up as he returned the gesture and said "Is all the time." The two warmly embraced each other and it seemed like they were almost about to kiss when another pair of arms were felt around them. Both turned to see that weirdo clown from earlier. Depresso held out both his hands and said "Up high!"
They turned to each other with smug grins, thinking the exact same thing and slapped his hands so hard that he fell off the platform. "YEAAAAAHHHHHHHHHhhhhhh...."
~The End~
When the cart finally stopped, Mr Puzzles and Tag6 found themselves in the middle of nowhere. The pink and purple troll sighed of relief that this bumpy ride was over until Mr Puzzles grabbed hold of her and yelled "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" Just before the raging TV man could do anything, a rumbling was heard below them and a chain chomp came out of the ground to eat them and happily licked its lips.
Author's note: It took a few months but I have finally finished this story! Lots of effort and writing was put into this, but I hoped you all enjoyed it. Big thank you to @LizaLuvsThis for the cover art and permission to use Tag6 in this project, @ColaXdraw for inspiring me with his amazing drawings, and you all for reading this story and sticking by through development. And for all of you who are wondering if I will be continuing this series with the other movies and specials, I will be! However, I will not be doing the Netflix shows. Trolls Holiday will be coming out in December for a Christmas you won't forget. Stay tuned!

SPOILERS FOR GOOD OMENS SEASON 2 EPISODES 4&5
---------
Yeah I caved and watched both episodes and now i'm stuck on a cliffhanger. Great.
I want to wait until tomorrow or the day after tomorrow tho, as apparently I love being edged.
---
- So. Nazi Zombie Flesh Eaters. These bitches are still there and will be for eternity? ... no words. Maybe better than getting eaten and digested and eaten again by a giant spider I guess.
- aziraphale being so smitten and wanting to help. God he's so adorable when he's passionate about something.
-that was also the episode with the most fremdscham until now. Good lord. Magician Aziraphale is Something Else.
-the absolute trust. I cannot get over the absolute trust these two have in each other. I need to sit down.
-also Aziraphale being. Just himself. And Crowley looking So Good. In his suit and hat and tie.
-Shax in the car and - 'item [...] you're not his type' (or something like that). Work. Living!!
- Crowley coming to check on his car - 'Did you miss me?' - while Aziraphale was side eyeing him (why didn't you ask Him whether he missed you, Crowley?)
- also, did the car purr when Aziraphale patted it?
- Nina :( you're better off without your partner, love.
---
-Shax you. Idk whether i wanna cheer you on or boo you. Probably both.
-LOVE Hell's (tries to spell the english word for) Bürokratie!! (and failing miserably. Have the german one, then.)
- oh I LOVE Aziraphale bribing all the shopowners with books to get them to come!!! And Crowley casually tagging along <333

-him subsequently getting drunk over it. Well.
-Crowley talking to Jim. Oh, Jim. You are a treasure.
-Crowley being kind (yet again).
-Offering Jim hot chocolate. My heart<333
-Aziraphale taking the concept of a ball and going All In. Including Austenian language (the seamstress part. WORK.) and dances!!!
-when Crowley made sure Nina and Maggie both arrived safely. <333 :,)
-AZIRAPHALE AND CROWLEY DANCING. HELLO. HELLO. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Again I need to sit down. My heart.
- wer kennt ihn nich, the angle.
-Crowley once again using Bürokratie for their advantage. My love my bestie my rotten soldier my--
-yeah I thought something was gonna happen to mr brown. Rip dude.
-NINA AND MAGGIE STAYING. (love wins. --- well, Love will win, i suppose.)
- AZIRAPHALE. 'Saving me makes him very happy.' Okay damsel in distress. Okay Acts of Service as a love language. Okay complete trust in your dearest friend
-that reminds me. The way Aziraphale said 'friend' in the Nazi episode. As if it didn't fit 100% anymore. Or maybe bc he was unused to say it. But. For me it had 'trying hard to keep yourself in check bc you really want to call him something Different' vibes
-Jim's outfit. 10/10 no notes. Mwah. He worked his pussy out.
-Muriel bestie. And Crowley already planning the rescue of his angle. Pardon, Angel.
-ending on a literal cliffhanger. Slay.
SO EXCITED FOR THE LAST EPISODE. Probably going to wait for the day after tomorrow to watch it as I want to (re-)watch episodes 5&6 together.
Love will save the day, I hope!

They say your ’20s are your best years and maybe that comes from being able to bounce back from a night out with your friends. A night that turned your memory into episodic moments you could recall and others you had to guess about. Maybe it’s because you’re in the years where you aren’t under lock and key with your parents but not at the point where you’re expected to have a marriage, kids and mortgage.
It was the sweet spot in life. Now you didn’t drink as much as you did your first year, but you did enjoy the odd glass of wine occasionally—a beer with your older brother or a shot with your best friend. But more often than not you were in bliss nestled into your boyfriend’s side watching an old movie with a bucket of popcorn you had argued over who would make. However, Charlie was in Vancouver filming for Julie and the Phantoms leaving you in your house for the upcoming season. The home you shared with your three college friends to save money but not be stifled in dorms.
“I have an idea!” Sophie spoke, sliding into the living room in her thick socks with duckies on them. Her sudden appearance received both Alice and your attention from the movie Bad Moms playing.
Sophie’s recently dyed blue hair concealing her face from you as she flipped the long strands from her hair. Her bright brown eyes glittering with the same happiness that typically exuded from her.
“What’s this idea?”
“Where’s Lu?” Sophie inquired scanning for them in the room, “Did they have a date?”
“Nah, I’m right here Phee,” Lu announced their presence from the kitchen island going over work emails.
Sophie quickly dragged them from the counter to Alice and you on the couch with a box in her hands. Everyone in the room shared a look as the blue-haired girl went into one of her tangents that could continue indefinitely.
“Phee, calm down. What do you want to do?” Lu questioned whereas Alice had leaned forward to grab a look at the box.
“I think the best question is: what does it have to do with the box of pregnancy tests in your hand?” Alice asked flicking her ocean blue eyes at the girl sheepishly looking at the group, “Do you think you’re pregnant?”
“What! No! I thought it would be hilarious to take a test each and put in the box.” Sophie replied, pursing her lips together with a pleading look in her eyes, “Plus I wanna know how you do it…?”
You sighed with a shake of your head, “You saw this on Tiktok. We’re all damn careful at preventative measures. There’s no harm in taking the test. Hand one over.”
Sophie was quick to hand you a test along with the rest of the group before splitting off to the attached bathroom to your master suite room. You hadn’t even fought for the room when you moved in your sophomore year of college. Lu had been quick to announce that as the only one in a relationship Charlie would be over and they didn’t want a show.
The instructions were straight forward enough you had capped the test brought it the hallway to drop in the box held by Sophie. The camera catching everyone as they did so. Lu followed with their test followed by Alice, and you wandered back to your seat in the living room.
“Is there a reason you made us pee on sticks?” You inquired grabbing one of the decorative pillows Alice had bought. It was mostly Alice’s touch that brought the living room together with her minor in interior design.
“I thought it would be fun.” Sophie simply shrugged joining Lu on their couch, leaving Alice back in her seat.
The movie still paused as per Sophie’s request, so no one forgot about the tests waiting to be revealed. You had no clue why it mattered to not forget about them, as you had said before. Everyone had a pact to keep up on contraceptive, hell there’s a box near the hallway filled with condoms. Everyone just added a few to the box if it was lower than twenty squares.
“Okay.” Lu trailed off, clicking their fingers on the phone in their hands. Their attention is easily taken away from the game Sophie wanted.
Sophie was always jumping on trends on Tiktok, a few even before they became real trends, so this wasn’t anything new. Sophie even had a few viral videos on the app that sometimes took all her attention for a few hours. That being said, you weren’t overly scared about the outcome.
“Ooh, Charamader is calling.” Lu snorted leaning overseeing the cheesy photo of Charlie kissing your cheek. His contact photo in your phone had been taken by Luk as well.
“One moment.” You told Sophie with her wide eyes pointedly staring at the box on the coffee table littered with magazines, “It will be a second!”
Sophie waved you off to the kitchen where you clicked on the green button.
“Hey!” Charlie beamed from the kitchen on the apartment he shared with Owen during filming. His wide eyes crinkled by the grin he wore, “What’s new? How was that exam?”
“I think I did a lot better than I had expected.” You admitted to the Canadian guy brushing the hair away from his face. He had to recut to Luke’s style when filming for the new season happened.
“I told you!” Charlie cheered, flipping his gaze from his phone to the pan he was carefully inspecting, “How lucky am I? My girl is going to graduate with a fancy degree! I’ll be front row when it happens.”
“Just as I will be right there when you win an Oscar.” You teased your boyfriend as Sophie loudly counted down from the living room. Charlie’s attention was drawn to the trio of your best friends waiting.
“Did I pull you away from something?” Charlie’s brown brows furrowed as he mentally went over the plans you had informed him of.
There wasn’t a single plan he remembered so he relaxed marginally when the fear of missing something faded.
“Sophie’s made us do this video for TikTok. We’re halfway through-“
“Hey Charlie, she’ll call you back. We had pregnancy tests to check!” Sophie interrupted ending the video call with your boyfriend.
Both Charlie and you frantically talking as Sophie ended the call with that bomb and not clarifying further on it. To take it further, the blue-haired beauty pocketed your phone as well to avoid her video being interrupted.
You had no doubt the Canadian actor was freaking the fuck out that you were taking a pregnancy test. If he was spamming your phone, Sophie wasn’t reacting to the vibrating other than to aggressively point over to the couch.
“Just text him,” Sophie grumbled throwing your phone back at you when the line formed between her eyebrows. The frustration of Charlie overcoming her excitement for the video.
“PREGNANCY TEST?” Charlie screamed as soon as you accepted his phone call, “Am I missing something?”
“Sophie wanted to do a video of Alice, Lu, her and I took one. We’re good.” You soothed the ruffled feathers of the male who released a gasp.
“Sophie, you gave me a heart attack. Holy shit, I just about knocked Owen unconscious.” The man in question was speaking, but you couldn’t hear the words he spoke, “What! I thought my girl needed me!”
“I’m Charlie but I won’t if I don’t end the call-“
“We can mute the call.” Charlie interrupted dancing on the balls of his feet with anticipation in his blood even if you had denied being pregnant, “This sounds like-”
“Nice try Gillespie. Y/N will call tomorrow, it’s roomie night.” Lu spoke before ending the call for you just like Sophie had, “AS much as I like the dude, this is getting interesting.”
You simply shared a look with Alice as Sophie expertly stationed the camera to get everyone, Alice was the one to shake the box again. Each of you was given a test to hold with snickers falling from lips. Lu’s hand ran through the recently chopped hair while Alice repositioned her body on the floor.
“Okay…one, two, three.” Sophie calmly spoke before flipping her test around. Everyone followed suit.
“Negative.” You informed the group. Lu was quick to announce the negative in her hand.
Sophie simply shook her head before everyone turned to Alice, “Alice?”
 The brunette pixie-haired girl stared at the test before she lunged for the box, “What’s a positive?”
“Why-“
“The test is positive!” Alice snapped shakily reading the instructions as she gripped the test in her hand. Her lips mouthed the words she read with a speed that greatly impressed you.
Everyone was huddled around her after Sophie had ended the video in pure shock, reading the test that very much said positive. Your lips parted in stunned silence sitting back on your heels just as Sophie did.
“Who’s test is it?!” Sophie exclaimed roughly running her hand over her face, “Holy shit.”
“Not mine.” Lu informed the group with a nervous smile on their face, “The last person I was with was Susan from Statistics.”
That left three people.
“Eliminate the options.” You breathed looking at Alice, “Wasn’t the last guy you were with a few weeks ago? Jas or something from-“
“Jasper from my Mythology course, but that was like four months ago! I’ve been swamped with classes and work.” Alice spoke with a small smile, “He was terrific. I should see if he’d like to grab a- “
“Not the time Alice!” Sophie screeched frantically looking around the room, “Oh my god, what about you?”
Sophie’s eyes came down on you with a pleading look in her eyes at this very sudden twist on her once innocent game. Your mind went over the last few months, but you were blanking at every opportunity.
“I can’t. Shit. I need to call Charlie.” You grumbled tapping the screen of the phone, “Alice, can you go grab a box of tests from the store? We used all of them.”
“-grab as many as possible!” Sophie cried, shaking in her slippers and cosy clothing. This was not how she had expected the night to go.
“I thought it was roomie night.” Charlie spoke as soon as the phone connected, “Something wrong?”
“When was the last night we had sex?” You inquired, leaving the man in Canada to choke on his beer.
In Vancouver sharing a beer with Owen with a film that had interested the pair playing Charlie hadn’t expected your call. Owen barely blinked at the interruption when the movie was fascinating, but he did turn when he heard Charlie choke.
“W-what?” Charlie coughed wiping his chin with the back of his hand, “Is this some weird part of a card game-“
“Charlie, when was the last time we had-“
“Jesus, I stayed the night before we left for the airport two months ago? We had a quickie in the bathroom at the airport as well.” Charlie scrunched his face recalling the lack of time he had been physical with you. His face turning red with Owen’s full attention on the flustered Canadian actor.
“Everything good?” Owen asked his best friend but only received a wave off.
“You sound scared. Is everything okay?” Charlie now demanded while your lips parted to ask if it was possible the condoms you used broke. The frantic breathing of Alice interrupted you, however.
Your e/c eyes found the pixie-haired girl leaned over, catching her breath with the box in her hands. Without thinking, your phone fell from your fingers as you lunged to the box with three tests. Alice had thought ahead and bought a box each for you and Sophie.
“Sophie’s waiting in the living room. Lu’s got her.” Alice softly told you both deaf to the two males on the phone, “I’ll be right here.”
“Thank you, Alice.” You choked marching into the bathroom, “If it’s me…I-“
 “If you’re the one pregnant, then this baby will be blessed if you decide to continue the pregnancy. If you don’t, I’m right here for you. If you’re not pregnant, we can do a couple shots.” Alice squeezed your hands unintentionally, sending Charlie into a frantic moment once more.
Your feet stopped suddenly remembering you hadn’t hung up the phone with Charlie, “Fuck.”
Alice, already reading the situation, tossed your phone to you with a smile as she sat on your bed. With a thankful one sent back, you entered the bathroom with your thumb, clicking the FaceTime button.
“This is the second time!” Charlie exclaimed scanning the background for one of your roommates, “I thought you weren’t pregnant!”
“So did I! Until one of four tests turned out positive, and now I have three more tests I need to pee on!” You exclaimed, “I jinxed us! I literally said how all of us are so good keeping up with preventative measures!”
“Apparently not as well.” Owen spoke, shoving his head over Charlie’s shoulder to see you with his kind smile, “Can you take three slow but deep breaths for me?”
With a few words coaching your breathing, you calmed down enough to mute the call and turn the phone to the ceiling for your privacy. Once the toilet was flushed, tests capped waiting on the counter, and your hands washed, you turned back to the call.
“What’re we gonna do Char?” You sobbed with a deep ache to be in his arms just as he felt the same, “We don’t live together! How can we do this!”
As Owen had led you through the calming breathing, Charlie had dug deep to calm down eternally for you. He found clarity even in the storm of being terrified and somewhat guilty, which he knew was misplaced.
“If you’re pregnant I’ll be there for you. No matter what, I will be there for you. If we keep the baby, we will rock parenting. We have friends and our family.” Charlie soothed you with his pretty hazel eyes glittering at you, “We’ve been together since we were eighteen. We’ve talked about marriage and kids.”
“Should I le-“
“You can stay.” You softly told Owen who squeezed Charlie’s shoulder while you sat in silence with Alice quietly sitting by your side.
Alice’s hand grabbed yours in comfort and support, waiting for the minutes to end and when they did you cried.
Separated in different countries you and Charlie took in the news that there was, in fact, a child on the way. Charlie’s lips parted in glee as he easily read the excitement in your facial expressions amid the fear.

Chapter One: Set The Stage
-Nalani-
 “My God, everybody is gonna be in town this weekend, especially since it’s a long one,” Lynix said as she plopped onto the oversized bean bag that was in the corner of my room.
 I remembered the day we’d walked into Z Gallerie just to look around. Neither of us expected something like that to be in the high-end store. It didn’t take long to instantly fall in love with it, and thankfully the store had two left in stock. They were both the same color but completely different fabrics. Lynix preferred the fur one, but I needed the leather one in my life. That’s how it always was with us, we liked different finishes, but we had the same luxurious tastes.
 “I know. I was trying to come up with a plan. Beach, and shopping tomorrow, then spa Saturday?”
 Lynix scrunched her face. I knew she loved both, but right now, I needed her to make a damn choice. She’d always been the indecisive one, especially when it came to two things she enjoyed equally. When Nix shrugged, you knew she’d come to a decision.
 “Eh—doesn’t matter, although I think we should shop first. I’ve wanted to get a few new suits.”
 The amount of excitement that surged through me was too much for me to contain. When I screeched, Nix’s head snapped to me. As I clapped my hands excitedly, a huge smile plastered across my face. “Yeees, then I can pick up that new brow kit that Jackie just dropped. Uugh, I am so ready for it. I have so many ideas for content.”
 By looking at Nix’s face, I could tell she was also looking forward to the day’s activities. What girl didn’t like shopping for new things such as clothes and makeup. Usually, when we went shopping, we would go early and not leave the mall until it was closing, and both of us would have so many bags that were filled with things neither of us needed.
 “So, it’s a plan, I confirmed.
 Nix nodded and continued to scroll through her phone for a few moments before she stood and walked out to get ready. Living in Miami, there were tons of pros. The weather was a major one. For the majority of the year, the weather remained calm, beautiful, and sunny. That meant that I could dress however the hell I wanted. After rummaging through my closet for the perfect thing to wear, I decided on a pair of dark denim jeans, a white scoop neck tee with two slits at the sides that carried all the way up my ribcage.
 When I sat down to beat my face, I had Saweetie blasting.
 “Can’t stop, won’t stop get guap. Ten white toes in them Troy flip flops. Manicures and pedicures I’m tip-top. When they say I’m not hot, all these lies need to stop. Cause I’m icy, wifey, haters wanna fight me.”
 Feeling the music, I stood and did my best hot gyal Meg moves. Within a few seconds, I heard Nix’s telltale “ayyyyyy.” Turning, I saw her standing in the doorway, using the doorjamb behind her as a twerk partner.
 “Get it!”
 She stood and rapped the next verse. “My team is trying to eat, so we grinding til’ out mental bleed. You tryna get a bag of weed? I’m tryna get a bag a week. Put it in my savings and invest in the right companies. My dream is like a child, and I’m taking all the custody.”
 That was when I joined in too. We were rapping, twerking, and acting a fool for the next minute or two. I watched Nix drop to the floor and pop her ass from left to right. Not being the one to be outdone, I bent forward and made mine clap. When I felt her drop a heavy-handed slap to my ass, I dropped and brought her with me. We laid on the floor, laughing together for a full minute.
 “You play too much. You can’t let me be great! You and your knees like Meg head ass,” I teased. She snorted loudly.
 “I got Meg’s knees, and you got her ass!”
 “Okuuuur!
 Nix stood and straightened the ruffles of her off the shoulder white crop top at the same time my phone rang. When I picked it up off of the wireless charging port, I screeched out.
 “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
 I showed her the phone so she could see who was calling. Her smile was broad but not as wide as yours. After three rings, you picked up the facetime call. Lewis’ gorgeous face filled the screen, and your belly fluttered. His groomed mustache chin beard decorated his face in a way that was just so pleasing to the eye. It complimented his facial structure so well. The man was too damn fine for his own good, and the worst part—he knew it.
 “Hey, handsome,” I answered in my sugary seductive voice.
 “There she is Lani, Lani. How are you, beautiful?” Lewis’s smile was soft, but it still gave way to his dimples to take center stage.
 “I’m good.”
 “That’s good. Wooo, you look good as hell,” Lewis complimented in his smooth voice. It was the voice he used when he wanted something, and the voice always got him anything he wanted. I bit my bottom lip and plopped onto my bed.
 “Did you just wake up? You look like you’re in bed still.”
 “I kind of did. I caught an early flight, and once I got in and did some training, I crashed.”
 My eyes dropped to his bare chest, and I found myself wondering if he was naked. Usually, that is how he slept. The memories flooded me, and like the wind, I was gone, lost in my lascivious thoughts.
 “Lani!”
 “Sorry, babe, what’d you say?”
 “What’re you up to?”
 “Nothing much. Was just kicking it about to do some shopping.”
 From the corner of my eyes, I saw Nix trying to get a look at him. I slanted the screen so she could see without him knowing she was there. She gave me a look to say, “excuse me.” Pressing my lips together, I tried to stifle the laugh that wanted freedom.
 “I had an idea. I’m in Vegas for the weekend. You should come through.”
 Nix’s eyes bugged.
 “Vegas?”
 “Yeah. This is one of my last weekends of freedom before press, and all that starts. So, I thought, why not have some fun. You down?”
 I looked to Nix, who was now standing behind my phone with her back to my balcony's sliding door. She nodded her head excitedly while motioning for me to say something.
 “Uh—well, I don’t know, babe. This weekend? Lew, that’s like—tomorrow.”
 Nix gave you a look asking if you were crazy. I had every intention of accepting the offer, but there was no way in hell that I was going to make him think he had it like that. A girl had to have some mystery about her no matter how fine the man or how good his stroke game was.
 “I know it’s short notice but come on Lani, it’s Vegas!”
 Lewis began moving, and it gave you the answer you needed; he wasn’t naked. His black boxer briefs clung to his hips, making my fingers itch to hook in the waistband. The visual swirled, almost giving you motion sickness before his face came back into focus with all the sights of Vegas behind him. I made out a few landmarks, mainly their replica of the Eiffel Tower and the strip's blinding lights. A smile spread across your face before you rolled your eyes.
 “Okay.”
 “Yeah?”
 He was so damn adorable. He actually looked surprised as if he really was surprised you’d accepted.
 “Yeah. Why not? I’m sure you can find some way to entertain me.”
 Lewis smiled, but this was no regular smile. It was one that spoke of so much. We’d been dealing with each other on and off for the last two months or so after meeting at a music event. I’d gone to cut loose and ended up catching the eye of some rapper who had a really grandiose ideal of himself. He thought I’d leave with him and turn into another notch on his bedpost, but once Lewis and I got to talking, there was no way. He was categorically more interesting.  After two or three dates, the inevitable happened, and he dispelled all negative stereotypes about Asian men.
 “I have a favor, though, babe,” I began with a sweet as honey smile.
 “Name it.”
 “I want to bring my friend.”
 Nix’s eyes again bugged; she wasn’t expecting that. As she flailed her hands around telling me to cease and desist, I ignored her.
 “A friend you say?”
 “Yep, my bestie, Lynix.”
 “Oh, thee Lynix? Say no more. The more, the merrier,” Lewis answered.
 “Really?”
 “Yeah. I’m looking forward to finally meeting her. I’ll make the arrangements and text you the info.”
 “Okay, babe. I’ll see you soon.”
 I puckered up and blew him a kiss. Before I ended the call, I watched him lick his lips, and even more excitement filled you.
 “What the hell was that? Who said I wanted to go to Vegas and be the third wheel to your sexcation?”
 “Nix, come on. What would you do? Stay here? Call dickhead and fall back into a situation with the only benefit being mediocre dick?”
 Nix’s jaw dropped. “Wow, the call out wasn’t necessary, Lani.”
 “I don’t’ sugar coat. You’ll have more fun with me in Vegas. Plus, it’s not a sexcation.”
 They were words I didn’t even fully believe. It was just a matter of time. Nix paced the floor as she contemplated the offer. “I don’t want to be a third wheel,” she protested.
 “You won’t be. Lew is cool. It’ll be fun.”
 She didn’t look convinced, but she looked more inclined to being easy about it than continuing her protest. The moment I saw her acceptance, I sprang to my feet and hugged her.
 “It’s going to be a great weekend.”
 After a few moments of embracing, Nix was the one to speak first. “Come on! Hurry that ass up. I’m hungry!”
 She always got hangry quicker than anyone I’d ever known. After another fifteen minutes or so of primping, we left determined to catch our favorite restaurant for lunch. In Miami, everywhere anyone turned, they were met with skin, suntan lotion, muscles, and food. To some, that meant that they had to remain on point or else someone would catch them slipping, and no one wanted that. In Miami, if someone caught you slipping, you lost your man, job, or even worse your lifestyle.
 Nix and I didn’t have to worry about that. We were secure in our careers. Lynix was able to make surprisingly good money as a top food and luxury goods blogger, while I’d found my place in the fashion and makeup influencer world. Where every influencer was a copy and paste option, I worked hard to set myself apart from them. My ideas were fresh, and my content always showed that I thought outside the box. Since our bags were secured, our lifestyle was safe.
 However, when it came to men, both Nix and I liked to keep our options open. Life was meant for living. These days, a lot of men acted like they wanted to live but truly only brought headaches. Who could be bothered? That didn’t mean we were in no man’s land. Whenever the need arose to be wined and dined, we went out and entertained whoever we chose. A girl might not want headaches, but she does want to be spoiled and made to feel pretty. Lewis brought no headaches, he treated me well, and the handful of times we’d gotten it in, it showed that he had far superior bedroom manners than anyone she’s dealt with.
 At lunch, we ironed out the plan for the day now that the weekend plan had significantly changed. Bathing suits and makeup were not the only things we planned on picking up at the mall now. There was a whole new list.
 “Nix, I thought I heard you up on the phone last night. Was it Caesar?”
 Lynix rolled her eyes as she took up her burger and took a hearty bite. As she chewed, she moaned and motioned to her plate. The burger was nearly bigger than her mouth, but she made it work.
 “This is so good, Lani.”
 I leaned over the table toward the burger. She knew what I wanted and held out the burger for me to take a bite. Moaning, I relished the flavors that burst over my tastebuds. It was rare for restaurants to season their food with more than a pinch of salt and a dash of pepper, but I could taste much more than the two.
 “You’re right. The avocado is a great addition.”
 Nix took another bite as I stirred my pasta dish before I began eating.
 “Is he bugging you to get back together again?”
 Nix rolled her eyes again, but she nodded, “You know it. I don’t get it. It’s like he thinks the third time will be the charm.”
 I loudly kissed my teeth. Men like that were annoying as hell. For starters, I didn’t think the second round was a good idea, and I sure as hell didn’t think third time was going to be the charm, but I kept that to myself this time. “What do you think?”
 “Hell no!”
 We busted out laughing at the same time, not caring how loud we were. I noticed the eyes that slid to us from nearby tables. It was clear they were curious about what was so funny.
 “I told you, you need to try something new,” I said while wiggling my eyebrows. “It’s a good thing we’re doing Vegas this weekend. I think you’ll find that something new.”
 She rolled her eyes. “Don’t make no plans for me, Lani. You always wanna play matchmaker.”
 “I didn’t have matchmaking in mind—well not in the way you think,” I gibed.
 Her jaw dropped, and I couldn’t help but laugh. Yeah, Vegas would be a damn good time all right, I thought, as we finished our meal.
 By the time we got to the mall, Lewis had texted the info for the first-class flight he’d booked for the two of us. He made sure to add the message, “Making sure two queens travel the way they deserve.” When I showed Nix, she rolled her eyes, but I could tell she was just as in awe as I was from the smile on her face.
 Take-off was eight in the morning, which meant the rest of the day would be jamb packed to ensure everything got done. We flitted from store to store and spent money like we meant it. What was supposed to be a two maybe three store stop turned into four hours of complete indulgence. With the intent to pick up something nice for Lewis, we found ourselves in Agent Provocateur.
 After trying on a few pieces, I suckered Nix into trying some things on too. She didn’t protest with this. She liked lingerie, no matter the reason.  She thought it would be just for her pleasure, but I was beginning to formulate an alternate plan, one she had no idea about, but she would—in time.
 When we were both dressed in our final selections, Nix snapped a picture of me in a yellow number and sent it to Lewis.
 MSG: Decisions, Decisions.
 In less than a minute, his response came through.
 MSG Lew: Sold! Matter fact, get it in every color.
 Two hours later, with take-out in hand, we made it home. It was late, but instead of packing and getting some rest, we decided to binge-watch the newest season of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix. As you ate, you gossiped, laughed, and enjoyed the time together as you always did. There was a reason you’d moved in together; you genuinely liked each other and enjoyed hanging out together.
 ~~~~~~~~~~
 -Friday-
 The next day after two hours of chaos with last-minute packing, dancing, an impromptu fashion show, and taking turns doing each other’s makeup and hair, we finally were seated in first-class enjoying a glass of rosé.
 “Man, he sure knows how to charm a girl,” Nix joked.
 “You have no idea.”
 “Uh—I kinda do. You’ve literally told me everything about him,” she added.
 She was right. I had told her quite a bit about him. I’d also tried to get them to meet a few times, but each time one or both of them had other things they had to do. I wasn’t worried they wouldn’t like each other; I was sure once they spoke, they’d hit it off. I was counting on it for my plan to work.
 “So—Nix,” I began, again in my sweet as honey voice.”
 “Don’t try to use your charms on me, Lani. I know all your tricks,” she countered.
 Rolling my eyes, I pouted and decided to forge on. “What do you think of Lew?”
 “I told you, he’s cute.”
 “Yeah, but what else?”
 Nix looked at me as if she were trying to figure out my angle.
 “I don’t know him, Lani. From what I’ve seen, he seems like a cool guy, end of story.”
 It wasn’t a raving review, but I had to take it. Maybe her tune would be different after she got to see what he was about.
 “Just—know that you’re the only person I don’t mind sharing with,” I dropped before I popped my AirPods in. I could feel her eyes on me, but I pretended not to notice. I’d give her the flight to marinate on what I meant.
 After a three hour nonstop flight, we made it to baggage claim and got our belongings, then went in search of the driver that was supposed to be waiting for us as per Lewis’s text message from this morning. It didn’t take long to find him because he held up a sign with both your names on it.
 “That’s us.”
 “Great. Welcome to Vegas, I’m Drew. I’ll be your driver. Is this everything?”
 He nodded toward mine and Nix’s six total pieces of luggage. I nodded and allowed him to gather them before he walked ahead, leading us out of the busy airport. Once we made it outside, Drew ushered us into the waiting luminous pearl white Mercedes Maybach.
 “I don’t think that yellow number from Provocateur is gonna be enough,” Nix teased, making me giggle way too loudly.
 She was right though, mans was putting in all the stops. This wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, though. Lewis liked to enjoy life. He liked the finer things and didn’t see a reason not to indulge in moderation.
 The drive wasn’t obscenely long, but it was filled with quite a bit of traffic, especially considering it was just past eleven in the morning. Google said it was supposed to be a twenty-minute ride from the airport, but it turned out to be nearly thirty fives. Neither of us minded. We chatted, recorded a series of lives, and took several pictures to post to our respective socials.
 Once the car pulled up to the hotel, we walked inside, taking in every detail while I pulled out my phone. It was a beautiful hotel.
 MSG: Should I just give your name to the reception or something else?
 “No need. I gotchu.”
 I spun around, coming face to face with a dimpled and smiling Lewis.
 “Aah, babe!” Lewis came in for a hug, and once he wrapped his arms around me, I moaned. His arms felt so damn strong. He was not gimping on his workouts.
 “How’d you know we were here?”
 “I got the alert from the driver and the company,” he responded as he kissed my cheek. He smelled so fucking good.
 “How are you, babe?”
 “Better now that you guys are here,” Lewis answered with a wide smile.
 I shook my head; the charm would be the death of me. Lewis’s eyes had already drifted to Lynix, who was standing back a few feet.
 “Finally, you two can meet. Lew, this is Lynix, my best friend in the entire world,” I declared with one hand holding Lewis’s and reaching out for Nix’s hand with my other.
 They both just stared at each other for a few moments without speaking.
 “Lynix,” Lewis began.
 “Nix,” she corrected. “The only people who call me Lynix are my parents and acquaintances.”
 Lewis smiled and nodded. “Glad to know I’m not an acquaintance.”
 Nix smirked and shrugged. “You’re a minuscule notch above it. I’d be careful, though.”
 Lewis’s laugh was loud as it echoed throughout the lobby. “Wow. Of course, she’d be just as witty as you,” he said, glancing across to me. I shrugged. I had told him we were pretty similar.
 “It’s nice to meet you,” Lewis added before I slipped his hand to hers, letting them both go.
 Both of them looked at me with a question in their eyes, but it quickly faded before they looked back to each other and shook hands.
 “Same here.”
 A few more seconds elapsed with both of them holding hands before Nix dropped his. I pinched my lips, sensing that everything was falling into place. From the look on Nix’s face, I could tell she thought he was more than cute.
 “Okay, let’s head up to the penthouse and get you two settled,” Lewis announced.
 The three of you, the bellhop, and a few other hotel guests, rode the elevator. Lewis asked questions about the flight and if everything was good with the drive over. I happily thanked him for everything he’d done thus far and took the chase to tease him with touches. The thing I loved about Lewis was he was equally as flirtatious as I was. He liked to tease as much as I did and did it with ease. Every touch I placed on his arm, chest, and cheek, he returned with his lips to my ear as he whispered to me, or his hand on my hip as he held me close, or even his words. He knew his appeal and always used it as a weapon.
 Once you made it to the penthouse level and walked inside, Lewis handled the bellhop and directed him to where the bags went while I dragged Nix to the balcony to marvel at the beauty that was Las Vegas. I looked over to Nix and bounced my hip against her.
 “See. I told you this was a good idea.”
 “Fine, this is gorgeous,” she finally admitted.
 I pulled my phone out, ready for another picture. As we posed and blew kisses to the camera, neither of us noticed Lewis approach the balcony doors. When I looked over, he wore a soft smile as he watched.
 “Babe, get in these pictures!”
 He held his hands up. “I don’t wanna barge in where I’m not wanted.”
 “Oh, you’re more than wanted, right, Nix.”
 She licked her lips and shrugged. “The more, the merrier.”
 Lewis scoffed and nodded as he came over to stand to the other side of me, leaving me in the middle. After two or three pictures, I moved him to the middle, so it was a proper sandwich.
 “That’s better. It’s more aesthetically pleasing,” I remarked. Both Nix and Lewis simply nodded.
 “Everyone say, Sin City!”
 We all shouted it as my phone did snap after snap. I liked to do the burst shots because I preferred natural-looking pictures, and out of the twenty in the burst, there was bound to be at least four that were gold. After about five minutes of posing for pictures with Lewis in the frame, he took over as the cameraman. It was over then. When you put us in front of a camera together with someone else taking the snaps, we turned into a whole different monster. It was like when the power rangers morphed together into that one super ranger.
 I turned my back to Lewis and looked over my shoulder. Nix leaned close, touching her cheek to mine while resting her hand on top of my ass. I peeped the way Lewis lowered the camera for a few seconds before he brought it back up to take the picture. When we changed poses for me to lift Nix’s leg to show off the skin of her thigh, Lewis again lowered the phone, this time I saw him lick his lips before he sucked his bottom one for a few moments. This was going swimmingly, I thought to myself.
 Lewis let us settle in while he took care of a little business, and that was when I saw he’d had my bags placed in his room. It felt good to know he was on the same page as you were about this Vegas trip. Sometimes it was hard to decipher what someone’s true thoughts and feelings were. With Lewis, sometimes it was plain as day.
 The knock at the door had me turning to see Nix leaning on the door looking around.
 “So, what’s the plan? I’m starving.”
 “You’re always hungry.”
 “Listen, don’t try to hunger shame me, just feed me,” she countered as she walked inside the room to plop down beside me.
 “Look.”
 Handing her my phone so she could see the comment under one of the pictures I’d posted from the balcony shoot. I watched her face closely, and when I saw her jaw drop, I snorted.
 “Your followers are freaks.”
 The two of you laughed together before Nix stretched out on the bed. As if not liking the position, she brought her legs under her to sit on her shins. The shorts she wore had ridden up her thigh.
 “I mean, he said it, not me,” I defended as I got more comfortable. Not realizing how close my phone was, I accidentally pushed it off the bed.
 “I’ll get it,” Nix offered, crawling to the right side of the bed to bend over the edge to get my phone.
 With Nix’s ass high in the air, that was the moment Lewis walked in. Almost instantly, his eyebrow shot up with his eyes glued to her ass. It couldn’t have gone better even if I had planned it. He liked what he saw.
 “I got it.” She handed me the phone.
 “Hey, babe.”
 In shock, Nix yelped and turned, looking at Lewis.
 “You guys look super comfortable in here,” Lewis answered. I laid down, placing my head in Nix’s lap.
 “It’s a nice bed, hard not to be comfortable.”
 Lewis loudly cleared his throat before he spoke. “So, what do you guys want to do?”
 “This one is begging to be fed,” I said, tapping Nix’s knee.
 “Okay, let’s go. I know the perfect restaurant.”
 “Great,” Nix replied, instantly moving off the bed. “I’ll meet you guys downstairs.” With that, she was gone.
 Lewis’s eyes roamed over my body before he crossed the room to stand at the foot of the bed, looking down at me.
 “How long’s it been?”
 “You tell me,” I countered. His smile was again one of the flirt.
 “A few weeks?”
 “Just about.”
 Lewis lowered his body on top of mine, but he didn’t touch me. I opened my legs, pressing them back to the mattress, reminding him just who he was fucking with. I watched him look down my body to my pressed back legs. He scoffed before he looked back to my eyes.
 “Ready for me, huh?”
 Bringing my foot to his crotch, I felt his hardening patch. “Maybe about as ready as you are for me.”
 Quickly Lewis dropped his lips to mine and kissed me. Wasting no time, he delved his tongue into my mouth, swirling his with mine. I moaned on his lips and wrapped my legs around his back. Finally, he pressed his muscled body to mine, teasing me with every hardened plane of his frame. He was absolute perfection.
 Lewis moaned once more before he pulled away. “Didn’t you want to eat?”
 “I could definitely eat,” I said, reaching for the buttons of his pants. He groaned and took a few steps back.
 “Good things come to those who wait, beautiful.”
 Lewis nudged his head, signaling for us to go. He was going to be the death of me, I thought.
 Twenty minutes later, the three of us found ourselves at a restaurant that served a mix of breakfast and lunch options. When we sat, Nix moved to sit on my right while keeping Lewis on my left, but after a subtle rearrangement, Lewis was in the middle with both of us on either side of him.  I could tell she had questions, but she kept them to herself. I knew I’d have to clue her in soon.
 “So Nix, anything in particular you want to do while here?”
 She looked at Lewis as she finished chewing. “Not really. I’m pretty easy.”
 “Oh, really?”
 She smirked and shook her head, “When it comes to fun,” Nix clarified. Lewis smiled and nodded.
 “Lani’s told me so much about you.”
 “Oh yeah? All bad, I’m sure. Don’t believe anything she’s told you.”
 I kissed my teeth and rolled my eyes.
 “Oh, so don’t believe that you’re funny as hell, really sweet, talented, a damn good cook, and that you’re a great person?”
 Nix looked at me and melted. She was easy.
 “Awww, Lani,” she began.
 “Shut up, don’t make it weird.”
 The three of us chuckled before Nix continued. “Those you can believe, but I’m not as sweet as she says.”
 “You look pretty sweet to me,” Lewis slid in.
 The way Nix looked at him said she was speechless. When she looked at me, I smiled and gave her a look to say, “told you.” The man was walking charm.
 “Looks can be deceiving.”
 “You’re sweeter than you look,” I added, leaning to Lewis’s cheek to place a soft kiss to it. “Trust me,” I whispered into his ear.
 A few moments later, my phone went off.
 MSG Nix: What are you doing?
MSG: Nothing. What do you mean?
MSG Nix: You’re being weird.
MSG: I’m not. I promise.
MSG Nix: What are you up to?
MSG: Nothing.
 The look she gave me was one that said she didn’t believe shit out my mouth. I didn’t blame her. I was utterly up to no good.
 After some lunch, Lewis took us around to show us the sights along the strip. The three of us quickly roamed through Vegas’s version of Ripley’s Believe or Not before making it to do a little retail therapy. I roamed around the store with my arm laced through Lewis’s picking up different things. That was when I got one of my best ideas. With my arms filled with clothes, I whispered to Lewis for him to sit back and enjoy the show.
 When I came out dressed in a skin-tight dress, Lewis’s eyes roamed my body, examining the way it hugged my curves.
 “Do you like it?”
 Lewis signaled me to spin, so I did. When I looked at him again, he looked pleased.
 “The color’s nice on you. Looks good.”
 “Your turn Nix. Come on.”
 “I don’t have to come out. I’m good.”
 Rolling my eyes, I went to the door of her dressing room, opened it, and pulled her out.
 “Lani!”
 “Wow, that looks incredible on you.”
 She traced her hands over her body before she turned to look in the mirror, turning her back to Lewis.
 “Yeah?”
 “Definitely, get it. Right, babe?”
 Nix didn’t turn, but I saw her looking at him through the mirror.
 “Yeah, get it,” Lewis answered before his eyes dropped back to his phone.
 That was not acceptable, I thought.
 On the second reveal, I wore a low cut white top and a pair of leather pants. Lewis had me come closer to touch on the pants. While he appreciated visuals, he appreciated the touch more.  When Nix came out, she had on a figure-hugging leather dress with a plunging neckline.
 “Wow,” Lewis exclaimed.
 Bingo, I thought. Nix turned to face him, but she looked at me. Nodding my encouragement, she looked at him.
 “Yeah? Is that a good wow?”
 “Uh—it’s, you look great,” Lewis added.
 “You can do better than that, babe,” I coaxed.
 Lewis licked his lips and slid his phone back into his pocket. “It looks good on you.”
 As I walked back into my dressing room, I heard him correct himself. “Really good.”
 I considered that a win.
 After trying on a few more items, we cashed out. Lewis being the gentleman he was offered to pay for the entire thing. Nix protested, but when she did, he insisted even more, so she conceded and accepted defeat.
When we made it to one of Vegas’s most popular attractionsthe sky jump from the top of the STRAT hotel, Lewis went first and made it look like a breeze. He was so carefree about it too that it made me want to go next. Nix didn’t protest; she looked terrified.
 Once I jumped off the edge, it was the most exhilarating and terrifying feeling I’d ever felt. Everything zipped past my eyes. For a few seconds, I felt like I wasn’t attached to the rope and that I was plummeting to my death, but the minute the rope snagged and bounced me up, and down I relaxed. It was incredible. Vegas was beautiful.
 When it was Nix’s turn, she damn near freaked out. She tried several times to back out, but I wouldn’t let her. After several minutes of talking her into it and assuring her it would be the best thing ever, she approached the operator only to back away. That was when Lewis stepped in.
 “Look at me, if you really don’t want to do it, that’s cool but listen to my voice for a minute. Are you looking at me?”
 She nodded. Lewis placed his hands on his waist and held her in place.
 “The worst part is right here. Don’t think about it. You’re safe. This will be one of the things you’ll remember for the rest of your life. This is all we have in life, memories of experiences, and times we truly lived. After everything Lani’s told me about you, I’m sure you can do this.”
 Though she still looked as if she were half a heartbeat from passing out, she looked more confident. Nix nodded and turned back around. She stood there for almost a full minute before she shook her head no.
 “Would it be better if Lew did it with you?”
 Both sets of eyes landed on me. It was obvious they hadn’t thought about it.
 “He can go with her, right?”
 The three of us looked back to the operator who nodded.
 “See,” I added.
 “I don’t wanna make you. It would be weird,” Nix protested.
 “No, it wouldn’t be weird. It’s fine. Are you okay with it?”
 “Absolutely,” I assured.
 Lewis suited up again, and in less than a minute, he was ready to take another dive. As I watched the operator secure them both the harness, I had to hold the glee in to yet another situation I hadn’t planned that was working in my favor. I knew Nix, and in order for her to be at all receptive to what I was going to suggest, she had to be comfortable. When they were secured, Nix and Lewis were harnessed together fastened together at the chest. They looked like conjoined twins.
 Nix looked to me, and I gave her two thumbs up and a smile.
 “You got this bestie!” She rolled her eyes and looked like she wanted to kill me for getting her into this.
 “Ready?”
 “No.”
 Lewis chuckled before he nodded to the operator, and just like that, he jumped, taking them both over the edge. I could hear Nix’s scream the entire time. It was too funny not to laugh. There were a few moments of silence, but they didn’t last long. From the video attached to the contraption's overhead hood, I could see that her legs were now wrapped around his waist, and Lewis was securely holding her to him. His laugh was loud, as was her chastising him for laughing at her. They were already bantering like old friends. By the time the operator began pulling them back up, they were now staring at each other like not quite just friends. Maybe this would be easier than I thought, I theorized.
 We took in a few more sights before we stopped at the famous Bellagio fountains to take in the show. It was beautiful. I could tell why Vegas always mystified everyone. It was easy to become another person and get lost in the lights. Coming here, lines always became blurred. When we got back to the penthouse, the plan was to freshen up and get ready for dinner, then a club.
 After a shower, I stood in front of the window, trying to decide which dress to wear. That was when Lewis crept up behind him, wrapping his arms around my midsection.
 “There you are. Where’ve you been?”
 “I had a little meeting with my team. I’m sorry,” he whispered while kissing a trail from my shoulder up my neck until he got to my ear lobe. Moaning, I sank back onto him.
 “You smell incredible.”
 “I know.”
 Lewis’s hand slowly slid down my body until it dipped into my underwear. When I felt the soft brush of his fingers against my sex, I sharply gasped, dropping my head back onto his chest.
 “Mmm.”
 “Yeah, you’ve been craving this, haven’t you?”
 I nodded; there was no point in frontin’. He began slowly, lazily circling around my clit. His touch was so damn soft. It felt as If it was barely there. Within seconds I began wriggling, hoping he got the hint to pick up the pace. Lewis chuckled, clearly enjoying how he had you.
 “What do you want, babe?”
 “You know what I want, Lew.”
 “Use your words, princess.”
 I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction, but I also wanted my happy ending.
 “Make me come, daddy.”
 Lewis groaned loudly, sending the vibrations through my body. That was all it took for my body to blaze. Lewis pinched my clit then slapped it.
 “Fuck, babe.”
 “Are you wet for me, princess?”
 “So fucking wet.”
 He circled my clit again, this time giving you the amount of pressure and speed you needed. Sighing, you focused on the sensations that were coursing through you. His hands were a major turn-on for me. He looked like he used them often. Just as I was getting used to the way my body hummed from his fingers, he switched it up. When you felt him dip his middle finger inside of me, my knees buckled.
 Lewis’s strong arms held me steady as he backed us to the bed. He sat and placed me on his lap, leaving my legs wide for him. He retreated his finger only to add another digit to slip inside of me.
 “Mmm, fuck daddy.”
 “You are wet for me. You feel so fucking hot.”
 The slow way he sank and retreated his fingers inside of me only inched me closer and closer to madness. My pants echoed in the room and mingled with his deep, sultry moans. When he pulled them out to show you what a mess you’d made, he brought them to your lips.
 “Clean them off.”
 Not needing to be told twice, I lowered my lips over his fingers and sucked them clean, all the while showcasing just how deep my throat went. His moan became louder, but before you could take control of the moment, he pulled his fingers free and dipped three digits inside of you, stretching you—prepping you for his thickness.
 “Fuck!”
 His movements were no longer slow. He plunged in and out of me with a speed that had your back arching and your hand wrapping around the back of his neck where your nails sunk in.
 “You sure you wanna come?”
 “Yes.”
 “Yes, who?”
 “Yes, daddy. Please make me come.”
 Lewis added a twisting and rotating motion. It felt as if there was some sort of spiraling toy inside of me, and that was when I lost my shit.
 “Yes, yes, fuck! I’m coming!”
 It must have been music to his ears because, with his other hand, he pinched my nipple, sending me over the threshold and into a soft cloud pillow of ecstasy.
 “Such a good girl!”
 Lewis pulled his fingers free, and they were absolutely soaked. He gently tossed me onto the bed, then stood before me. I watched as he licked and sucked his fingers clean before he added a sly wink before he turned and walked into the bathroom.
 Dropping my head to the bed, I groaned out, “The fuck!”
  Dinner was delicious. Lewis picked one of the five-star restaurants that had given him an open invitation to come and see what they had to offer. When he walked in, all eyes were on the three of you. No doubt every woman wondering the same thing—how could they get a piece of him. all through dinner, the three of you laughed and told stories.
 Lewis told Nix and several stories from his set life and even dropped some fun facts about some of his costars or scenes we’d seen in some of his shows. When he asked about some of the shenanigans we got into, I didn’t hesitate telling him several stories that showcased Nix and my insanity. Every story had him laughing, and Nix cringing from all the tea I was dropping.
 “I can’t believe we did half of that,” Nix remarked.
 “Oh stop, don’t act like it was some other person. Your ass is just as crazy as me. It’s one of the reasons we get along so well. Plus, I know you always have my back,” I added.
 Lewis raised his glass. “To best friends then.”
 Nix and I raised our glasses, but before anyone took a drink, I spoke up. “To best friends and new friends.”
 The two of them looked at me, shrugged, then tapped glasses.
As the liquor burned its way down my throat, I shivered and flailed my hands. “Wooo, let’s get out of here. I’m ready to dance!”
  Within five minutes, the three of us were in the back of another chauffeured car on our way to one of the hottest clubs in Vegas.
 “So, is there a Mr. Vix?”
 “If there were, I wouldn’t be here.”
 “I doubt you’re the kind of woman who would allow a man to dictate what she could or couldn’t do,” Lewis countered.
 She has a soft smile on her lips, a sign of her conceding.
 “No, there’s no Mr. Nix.”
 “Is that by choice or circumstance?”
 “I choose my circumstances so--.”
 If there was one thing, Lewis liked it was mental sparring. I could tell he was intrigued by her. It made my plan easier.
 When we walked into the club, the music's loudness and the bright neon colors set the tone for the night. It was going to be a crazy, fun few hours. After situating in one of the VIP areas and downing a few drinks, I was up dancing with Nix while Lewis watched on and bopped to the music. As the alcohol began to take effect, we got into dancing and having a good time. Soon it became who could dance the most despite the number of drinks they’d had.
 After an hour or so, I pulled Lewis up to dance with us. I was in the middle with Lewis behind me and Nix in front. She twerked her ass onto me, while I did the same to Lewis. He held his own, but I wasn’t surprised. He looked like he knew how to dance. It was yet another turn-on. Lewis nipped my neck before he playfully rammed my ass with his crotch. Turning to him, I whispered I was going to get another drink.
 “Dance with Nix.” He met my eyes with a question in his.  Before he could open his mouth, I kissed him and walked off.
 It wasn’t a complete lie. I did want to get another drink, but I also wanted him to dance with Nix. After a few moments, Lewis approached her. She was at the railing, holding on with one hand while waving the other in the air. She was lost in her own world. I knew it was partly because of the alcohol. She turned and came face to face with him. both of them awkwardly laughed before Nix cheered along with everyone around when the DJ changed the song to Despacito.
 As she sang along, they both swayed to the beat. Every so often, Lewis leaned in and whispered something to her that had her giggling. Once the chorus started, she’d spun around and began winding her hips, adding in that Latin flare that Miami was known for, and that was also embedded in her DNA.
 Lewis dropped his eyes to her ass for so long. I didn’t think he’d make a move to dance with her, but when he stepped closer and placed his hand on Nix’s waist, I jumped as if I’d seen my own child score a touchdown. Soon their bodies synced, and they were dancing to the music but at a respectful distance. Lewis grabbed her hand and spun her back around, and the two did a mix of a salsa and bachata.
 From afar, they looked like they were having a good time. They sure as hell danced well together. Toward the middle of the song, he spun Nix back around. This time her back was pressed to his chest. That was when Nix rolled her body to dip to the floor. While bringing herself back up, she poked her ass out but not far enough that she touched him. Getting closer, I thought to myself before I made my way back over.
 By the end of the night, the three of you were tripping over your feet. Once we pushed through the penthouse's doors, it was Nix who had the idea to get into the pool. She wasted no time stripping down to her underwear and jumping in. Lewis and I were not far behind her. We swam and joked around with each other like drunken fools who had no cares in the world. After about an hour of swimming and acting like children with water games like Marco Polo and catch, we were leaned against the pool's wall enjoying another drink.
 “The two of you are a lot of fun,” Lewis sighed out before he knocked back another rum shot.
 “I tried to tell you. We know how to have a good time,” I reiterated.
 “As you can see by the one who has on no bra, she’s the one who has the most fun,” Nix teased.
 “You’re welcome to join the no bra club to take part in the fun,” I countered.
 There was no missing my meaning, and from the way she looked at me, I knew she got it. Nix looked like she was thinking about it, then her eyes shifted to Lewis who was watching the exchange. She made a move as if to unhook the front of her strapless bra, but as her hands made it to the front of her body, she lowered them and cleared her throat.
 “Ehm, I’m exhausted, probably jet-lagged. I think I’m gonna go pass out.”
 “Really?”
 “Yep.” She turned and swam to the steps of the pool before she climbed out of the water. “But by all means—you two enjoy the rest of the night.”
 Nix scooped up her dress off the floor and walked toward the sliding doors. “Oh, Lewis, thank you for the invitation this weekend.”
 “Don’t mention it.” Nix nodded, then disappeared inside.
 “Is she okay?”
 “Probably just drank too much.”
 I swam to him, took his glass, and finished it before placing it behind him. “What would you say if I didn’t trust myself to walk?”
 “Then, I’d carry you to bed.”
 Crashing my lips to his, my mouth stole his moan and made it my own. In seconds I was more than ready to be carried to bed and fucked to sleep. As if hearing my thoughts, Lewis pulled me to him and swam toward the steps. Forgetting our clothes, he walked inside, never taking his lips from mine. At the top of the steps in the hall, he pressed me to the wall giving me an idea of how much he wanted me. Scraping his back, I moaned loudly.
 “Fuck I’m so hard for you.”
 “I want you, Lew.”
 When be busted into the bedroom, he quickly dropped me back onto the bed and peeled off his boxer-briefs as I pulled off my underwear. When he pressed between your legs, you whispered to him to fuck you. Your self-control was gone, and you didn’t care if there was no foreplay. This entire day was foreplay enough.
 When Lewis thrust forward, connecting our bodies, I shrieked out and arched backward. Lewis pressed his hand to the center of my body as he rotated his hips, making my thighs hit the bed, giving him complete access to ruin you any way he saw fit.
 “Fuck, Lani!”
 His thrusts sped up and turned bruising. Each connection had your breasts swinging and your body shaking. Just when you were getting used to the pace, he set he changed the name of the game and slowed it down, making goosebumps prickle my skin. His lips found yours, and he took control of that too, the same way he was showing me owned my pussy tonight.
 “Whose pussy is this, Lani?”
 “Yours.”
 “Damn right, it’s mine!”
 As if shedding the gentleness, he kicked it up a notch with the way he plowed into me. With every dip, your body hugged him, making it next to impossible for him to retreat. With every snug squeeze, Lewis grunted loudly.
 “Fuck, right there, daddy.”
 When he pulled out and flipped me onto my belly, I knew what was coming. Within seconds, he slammed back inside of me, sending his dick so deep I saw stars. It was then I realized the blinds in the room were wide open.
 “Mm. I love how wet you are for me. Does this pussy love this dick?”
 “Yes, yes, yes!”
 Lewis grabbed the back of my neck and went to town. I could tell he was lost in his pleasure and the pursuit of his own release. It didn’t take long for your legs to shake and for you to drop onto the bed. With you splayed across the mattress, he only adjusted his angle and fed you every single thick inch he possessed. In seconds I’d come for the fourth time and gripped him as if he threatened to leave. His thrusts staggered and became sloppier and more desperate. He was close.
 “Fuck, I’m gonna come, Lani. Do you want it?”
 “Yes, daddy, give it to me.”
 After a few more thrusts, he slammed forward and shot stream after stream inside of me. Every few seconds, he grunted and tried to bury himself deeper and deeper though there was nowhere else for him to go. I was filled to the hilt. Thank god I were on birth control, you thought. That could have been the one to make him a real-life daddy.
 “Fuck, girl!”
 Lewis dropped a heavy slap to my ass before he collapsed beside me. Both of us laid there, trying to catch our breath before passing out from sheer exhaustion and satisfaction.
Teach Me (h.o. x reader)
Masterlist
Pairing: Harrison Osterfield/Reader
Summary: You want Harrison to teach you something, but you end up learning more than you ever bargained for.
Word Count: 3,591
Warnings: Smut, language
A/N: This is for a fic challenge issued by @londonspidey with the prompt “teach me.”
I’m posting it on Harrison’s birthday for a celebration!
Thank you to @skymoonandstardust and @worldoftom for being my cheerleaders and helping me along the way. You’re both amazing! <3
“Harrison?” you asked, sitting on the sofa next to him while you watched some random show he chose on Netflix. Normally, your tastes were pretty similar, but you were too distracted by the thoughts that had been plaguing you since your birthday last month to actually pay much attention to it.
“What’s up?” He glanced away from the screen over at you.
You took a deep breath, determined to bring up what had been weighing heavily on your mind. “Can I, uh, ask you a question?”
He raised his eyebrows waiting for you to continue. When you didn’t, he eventually broke the silence that stretched between you, bumping his shoulder against yours. “‘Course you can. You can ask me anything. You know that.”
“I just… how do I even put this? You know how you’re so good with... girls?” you finished lamely, cringing internally at yourself.
“Do you want my help with dating or relationship advice?” he guessed.
“Sort of? It isn’t really advice I’m looking for, at least not right now,” you responded.
“Then, what is it?” He placed a hand on your arm reassuringly. “You don’t have to be nervous. It’s just me.”
“Well, you know how I haven’t been the most… forthcoming about my relationship history?” you asked, biting your lip.
“Always thought that was a bit strange, considering we talk about everything else, but yeah, I noticed. Didn’t want to press, though. Do I need to kick someone’s arse for hurting you?”
“Oh no, nothing like that. The reason I haven’t talked about it is because there’s nothing to talk about. Literally nothing. No dates, nothing physical, just a whole bunch of nothing. And I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since my birthday. God, I’m so pathetic,” you admitted, hanging your head in embarrassment.
Harrison slipped a finger underneath your chin and lifted your head until you met his eyes, full of concern. “Hey, we’ll have none of that. You are far from pathetic, love. Would you like me to set you up with someone?”
“I could probably find someone to go on a date with on my own, and I’m pretty sure that would go well enough with the right person,” you said. “But, to be honest, the end of the date is what concerns me.”
“You don’t want someone to push your boundaries? I know some stand up people who are single and wouldn’t even think of trying anything with you before you were 100% ready,” he promised.
“No, that’s not the problem, not at all. I just don’t want to make a fool of myself by not even knowing how to kiss someone,” you confessed. “Like, what if everything went well on the date, both me and my date have a great time, and then my date never wants to see me again when we kiss good night because I’m so awful at it?”
He chuckled.
You glared at him.
“Sorry, darling. I know you’re being serious. I’m pretty sure what you’re worried about isn’t going to happen, at least not with anyone who’s worth dating. But kissing’s not that hard. I could give you some pointers,” he offered.
“That’s not what I wanted to ask for, well, not exactly at least.” You swallowed heavily. “Would you… teach me?”
His eyes widened when he realized the implications of what you were asking. “You really don’t want to waste your first kiss on me.”
“I don’t consider it a waste. I mean, most people have their first kisses by the time they’re what, thirteen or fourteen? And from what everyone has told me, it’s awkward, and sloppy, pretty much sucks, and you likely never see the person you kissed again after you’re finished with school. Kissing you can’t be worse than that, right?” you asked.
“I’d like to think I’m a better kisser than a kid in Year 9, and I’m not going anywhere, so yeah,” he said with a laugh, and then paused. “Still, though. Wouldn’t want you to have any regrets. You only get one first kiss.”
“I wasn’t saving it for anything special, promise. It just didn’t happen, and then continued not happening while the years passed with everyone else learning how to properly kiss, and then I was too worried about being so… inexperienced, and that brings us to today,” you told him glumly.
His expression was pensive for a few moments before he finally shrugged. “You already know I’m not seeing anybody right now, so that’s not an issue. And I haven’t had a decent snog in a while, so what the hell?”
“Uh, how do I…” you trailed off.
“Here, let me,” Harrison responded, cupping your face gently in his hands.
You softly giggled when he pecked sweet little kisses from your forehead down to the tip of your nose, each cheek, until he eventually settled on a light press of his warm lips to yours.
He pulled back, and his unbelievably blue eyes met yours.
“That didn’t feel like a ‘decent snog,’” you teased.
He huffed out a laugh. “Just making sure you weren’t having any second thoughts.”
“No, not at all,” you reassured him. “Now, show me what you’ve got, Osterfield.”
He smiled and nodded, a hand reaching around behind your head to pull your lips to his again.
The chaste, tentative kisses were gone this time. His tongue traced the seam of your lips, and when you parted yours to grant him access, he quickly entered your mouth and brushed his tongue against yours eagerly.
The first thing you noticed was that he tasted like the beer he'd been drinking, the saltiness of the nuts he'd been snacking on, and something you assumed was uniquely Harrison. The combination was somehow intoxicating, more so than you ever thought it could be.
You weren’t sure what you expected learning how to kiss with Harrison would be like, but you hadn’t ever wanted anyone so much as you did in this moment. It honestly surprised you when a moan escaped from inside you into his mouth. He flexed his fingers in your hair, and a moan of his own echoed yours before he pulled his head back slightly to speak.
“You can put your hands on me, you know?” he mumbled against your mouth.
Your arousal emboldened you, and you slid your hand from where it had been lying motionless on the sofa onto his joggers-clad knee and moved it up his thigh to reach for his dick.
He realized what you were doing and placed his hand over yours to stop it just short of your objective, squeezing it gently. “Not that the thought hasn’t crossed my mind before, but that’s definitely treading into regrets territory.”
Your mouth dropped open in surprise. “Wait, you’ve thought of me like that before?”
“Wouldn’t’ve kissed you if I hadn’t, and the regrets might not only be on your end,” he admitted, looking down where his hand still covered yours. “You can’t uncross some lines.”
You nodded and swallowed heavily. “I’m curious. Would you have wanted to cross that line, if this had happened… differently?”
He took a deep breath and nodded. “God, how we’re going about this is mad.”
“We could always start over,” you pointed out.
“Okay.” He looked up at you expectantly.
“I, uh, really like you, Harrison,” you started slowly.
“I really like you, too. Fancied you for ages,” he confessed.
“So, would you like to do something with me?” you continued.
“There’s a lot of things I’d like to do with you,” he responded, low and seductive.
It was completely unexpected, and you’d never heard that tone of voice before from him. You found you’d do almost anything to hear it again. “Please,” you whimpered, fingers subconsciously digging into his thigh where your hand still lay, forgotten.
“Since you asked nicely,” he teased, “but seriously, how far do you want to take this right now? I don’t want to get caught up in the heat of the moment and cross your boundaries.”
“How far do you want to take this?” you asked, unsure.
“That wasn’t an answer to my question,” Harrison replied.
“I… don’t know. This is embarrassing, but I’m so turned on right now, I can’t really think straight,” you told him. “I know I want you, though. I’m certain of that.”
“I’d feel like some sort of dick if I just, you know, gave you your first kiss and then rushed right into sex less than half an hour later,” he told you, “but at the same time…”
“Yeah, I know,” you agreed. “I feel like I might die if you don’t touch me, though. I’ve never been this wet before.”
He groaned. “Okay, first thing’s first. We’re taking this to the bedroom before one of the guys walks in on us.”
When you stood, he took your hand in his and led you wordlessly to his bedroom, quietly shutting the door when you were both inside. You’d been there before, even on his bed, but with the more intimate context this time, it made you a bit nervous.
“So, you want me to touch you first?” he asked.
“I don’t want to be selfish, but yeah, I’d like that,” you responded.
“‘S’not selfish at all,” he reassured you. “The act of touching you, and your reactions, and the way you feel, and taste, and smell -- I love that, and it’s all just going to get me that much harder.”
“You’re already hard?” Your surprise was evident.
“That’s what you took away from what I just said?” He chuckled. “To answer your question, well, I just made out with a gorgeous girl I’ve fancied for ages, who told me she wants me, too, and now she’s here with me in my bedroom. What do you think?”
“I- can I see it?” You tried not to sound too eager, but knew you very much failed.
He softly laughed. “Not quite how I planned to go about this, but…” He shrugged.
You sat on the edge of the bed and watched, rapt, as he pulled his shirt over his head, discarding it somewhere behind him. That was nothing new. You knew Harrison worked hard for his athletic physique and didn’t mind showing it off. Now, you could touch, though, and you definitely planned to, soon.
His joggers were next, pushed off at the same time as his turquoise boxer briefs to reveal something you hadn’t seen. His erection stood proud against his stomach, long and thick, or maybe it just seemed that way because you hadn’t seen one before?
“I’m not really sure how it measures up compared to other guys, and porn obviously isn’t a good frame of reference. I haven’t had any complaints from the other girls who have seen it?” he responded, amused, making you realize you’d been vocalizing your thoughts.
You reached out tentatively, slowly, to touch it, and you were relieved when Harrison moved your hand the rest of the way to wrap around the shaft.
“Wow, it’s really warm,” you commented, the first thing that came to mind.
He laughed. “Well, I’d be concerned if it were cold.”
You laughed, too, and smiled up at him. Now that you had him in your hand, you wished that you could remember what you’d heard and seen online in how to pleasure a man. It was easy to remember that men usually like blowjobs, though. That didn’t seem like it’d be too complicated, so you leaned forward to take the tip in your mouth and swirl your tongue around the head. The precum that had gathered there was salty and a bit bitter, but not intolerable.
You were rewarded with a pleasured groan as you started moving over his length with your hand and mouth slowly.
“Whoa, I was supposed to make you feel good.” He made no move to stop you, though, and instead buried his fingers in your hair, stroking it lightly.
You carefully guided him forward so you could get on your knees on the floor at a less awkward angle for your neck. It didn’t take long to adjust to his girth in your mouth, and then you experimented in taking more of his length. You were disappointed that you couldn’t take all of him without gagging, not even close, but your hand was enough to take most of the rest.
You sucked harder, which he seemed to like, and then started moving over his length faster, which he really seemed to like. If his reactions were any indication, basic blowjobs fortunately really weren’t that difficult, even if it was making your jaw a bit sore. Deepthroating and other more advanced techniques weren’t going to happen today, but he seemed happy enough, and that in turn made you happy.
When you glanced up, his eyes were closed, pleasure was evident in his expression.
“Babe, you need to stop. I’m about to come,” he warned you.
You decided to do the exact opposite of that, sucking him harder and moving faster.
He moaned loudly, gripping your hair tighter, but not painfully. He chanted your name between moans as he spilled into your mouth in several long spurts.
It wasn’t the greatest thing you ever tasted by far, and the consistency was just about as bad, but you managed to swallow it down, proud of yourself for that. You took a moment to move your jaw until the ache was gone. Hearing Harrison calling out your name in that desperate tone was entirely worth the less than pleasant parts.
You eventually glanced up at him, and he was looking down at you with a fondness you’d never seen before. “Did I do okay?”
“That was amazing. I never would have guessed you’d never done that before,” he praised. “Thank you so much, sweetheart. Now, come up here.”
You took his extended hand and let him pull you up onto the bed. “Do you want me to, uh, go brush my teeth or use some mouthwash or something?”
He responded to that with a roll of his eyes, and his lips were on yours again, tongue swiping into your mouth against yours, answering your question.
It amazed you while you were making out, he managed to gradually move you around and position your body underneath his without stopping. When he was done, he was between your spread legs, although you were fully clothed while he was naked. When you realized that fact, it struck you as funnier than it probably actually was, and you were reduced to a fit of giggling, pulling back from his lips.
“What’s so funny?” he asked, grinning down at you.
“You’re naked, and I’m not,” you answered before you started laughing again.
“Yeah, it is kind of funny.” He leaned back onto his knees in front you. “Do you want to change that?”
“I, uh…” You bit your lip nervously, feeling a little insecure.
“No pressure. If you want, I could put my clothes back on, too. Completely up to you,” he offered.
“No, it’s not that. You’re just, like, ridiculously hot, and I’m not on your level, and it’s making me feel self-conscious,” you admitted.
“Rubbish. You’re gorgeous. If anything, I’m not on your level,” he insisted. “I want to see you, all of you, whenever you’re ready. Doesn’t have to be now.”
You swallowed heavily and started to pull your shirt off.
“Wait!” he told you.
Immediately, you stopped, afraid he’d changed his mind.
“Let me,” he finished, gently moving you up to tug your shirt over your head and tossed it off the bed. Adept fingers unhooked your bra, and it joined your shirt. His already once again hard cock twitched as he looked down at your newly exposed skin.
You reached for his cock, but he batted your hand away.
“As much as I like the sentiment, let me make you feel good,” he said.
“But I want to-” you started.
“Please?” he interrupted. “Promise I’m going to enjoy it, too.”
You swallowed and nodded.
“Can I take these off?” he asked, slipped a finger underneath the waistband of your pants.
“Yeah,” you agreed, lifting your hips to help him slide your pants and panties down your legs and off, leaving you completely exposed. You fought the instinctual urge to cover yourself. This was just Harrison, Harrison who had seen you in much worse states than simply nude.
“It’s okay. We don’t have to do this, not right now, not ever if you don’t want to,” he reassured you.
“No, I want to. I’m just nervous,” you told him.
“Let’s work through it,” he suggested. “What specifically is making you nervous?”
You took a moment to collect your thoughts. "Just… what if I don't taste or smell good, or if the noises I make are weird, and I completely turn you off?"
"Don't think that's possible, love. Just calm down and let me make you feel good, okay? Gonna make you feel so, so good, promise."
You nodded. "Thank you."
After stroking your thigh until you completely relaxed, he spread your legs and positioned himself between. "Do you want my hand or mouth first?”
You wanted both eventually, but since that was already on the table, you didn’t really mind either way as long as he touched you somehow. “Surprise me.”
“Hmmm…” He paused, contemplating. “I really want to watch you so I think I’ll start with fingering you. Have you done this to yourself before?”
“I, uh…" you trailed off, a bit embarrassed.
One of his hands moved to hold yours. “I’m not going to judge you either way. It’ll just help me know how I should go about this.”
“I have a vibrator. It was a stupid, gimmicky, ridiculously pink ‘My First Time’ vibrator gag gift. I don’t think the gift giver ever intended on me actually using it, but I kept it in my nightstand drawer and got curious after a while. It’s not as big as, well, you are.” You gestured in the general direction of his dick for emphasis. “It’s maybe the size of a couple of your fingers?”
“I know the vibrator you’re talking about. I was partially responsible for that gag gift,” he admitted. “I honestly wondered if you’d ever used it with how embarrassed you were when you opened the gift. Still got off more than a few times imagining you burying yourself under the covers, trying to hide the noises you and the vibrator were making while you worked it against your clit and in your pussy, faster and faster until you came.”
You groaned. “God, Harrison, you can’t just say things like that. You’re not wrong, but it’s making me...”
Instead of responding with words, he traced a long, slender finger through your folds, swirling around your clit teasingly before sliding down and pressing into you easily. “Looks like it’s doing its job and making you wetter.”
“Yeah,” you agreed, breathily, a pleasured chill going down your spine when he crooked his finger and started stroking it in and out unhurriedly. You couldn’t help but to try to suppress the sounds that he was bringing out of you, still self-conscious.
“No, it’s okay, pretty girl. Let me hear you. Let me know how good I’m making you feel,” he urged.
“You’re making me feel so good, Harrison,” you told him, as he added another finger, those captivating pale blue eyes gazing intently into yours. You struggled to keep your eyes open when his thumb circled your clit slickly, pleasure coursing through you intensely. “Oh god, Harrison, please don’t stop. Feels so, so good.”
“I can tell you’re getting close. Don’t hold back, just let it happen, angel,” he encouraged.
You listened to Harrison’s sweet words and did just let it happen. It felt like falling over a precipice when you toppled over the edge into the most intense climax you’d ever experienced, fingers and toes curling into the sheets almost painfully, but god, you’d never felt such an amazing high in your life.
He worked you back down, slowing his fingers until he finally stopped and withdrew them completely.
“Holy shit,” you mumbled, opening your eyes to find Harrison smiling down at you.
“Good?” he asked.
“Oh yeah,” you confirmed, smiling back up at him. “Best orgasm of my life. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to move again.”
He leaned over to press a brief kiss to your lips. “I could deal with that. Don’t think I’d ever be able to bring myself to leave my bed again, though, with my gorgeous girl here waiting for me.”
You felt your cheeks flush at the compliment. “You’re so sweet, Harrison.”
He kissed you again. “Just telling you the truth. So, what would you like to do now?”
“Honestly? Maybe take a nap?” you suggested with a yawn. “After that, I’d like to try more… things.”
“Things, huh?” he responded with a smirk.
“Yeah, things,” you told him.
“Like wakeboarding?” he teased.
You chuckled. “Well, something will be getting really wet.”
“Think it already is. Let me check.” His fingers moved back down to run through your folds again, pausing to play with your clit for a moment. “Yep, still plenty wet.”
You moaned, then giggled. “You know, I’m feeling a lot less tired now. What do you want to try next?”
He dropped down to kiss you, longer this time, before trailing his lips over to your ear. “I think I’ll show you what my mouth can do.”
Part2
The next dayyyy.
Class started but Rena and Satoshi were nowhere to be seen. Keiichi had already ran through the halls looking for them. Satoshi was probably mad because he forgot about his homework but he had unlocked some new secrets in Mario. He planned to impress Satoshi with them but whatever he guessed.
-they are outside in the woods-
“Soooo Shion had sum makeup in her bag. That’s for u…keiichi has a Bruce Springsteen cd…ewww no thanks!!! Rika had a flask…that’s ours now…mion had some Pizza Hut coupons…lol guess we’re getting a pizza later”
Satoshi had ransacked everyone’s bags and he and Rena emptied their bags to so that it looked like they were also victims. “Omg we have to blame this on satoko”
“Oh also I took all the money as well so we can get some of those clothes at the mall we wer looking at.” Satoshi saw the kewlest sweatshirt. It was from the gap but it was like blue n purple. But it was like 50 bucks. “Girl wait I have an idea. I’m saving the money for something else I know how I can get that sweatshirt”
——later—-
They went back 2 Satoshis house again. Satoko wasn’t home so they went thru her room and looked at her diary: “Dear diary my brother is sooooo mean to me. He is a bully!!!!” Bla bla bla. Lol honestly teppei sucked n deserved to die n so did his aunt. But sometimes he agreed w them n their choices.
“Omg tomorrow we HAVE to bring this to school and like leave it in someone’s desk. It would be funny I think” Rena said
Just then the phone wrang. “Who is this.”
“Hey it’s me Keiichi! Wat r u doing right now?”
He held the phone away from his face. “Rena it’s Keiichi should I tell him to meet me at the mall” and they laughed.
“Hey I couldn’t hear u what did u say?”
“Nothing. What do u want.”
“I was wondering if I could come over n we could play Mario I have 2 show you something”
He held the phone so he and Rena could both hear it. “Yea do ur parents have any alcohol? Maybe u could being that. I’ll let u come over if u do”
“Well…maybe they’ll notice”
“Omg it’s literally not a big deal I used to do it to my uncle all the time. Just full it back with water so it looks like nobody took sum” he rolled his eyes
“Um well ok…I’ll see you soon then I guess”
“Yea don’t forget the alcohol see u later”
Satoshi hung up “We are gonna go get cross faded girl”
They went to his room and hot boxed. He had to to deal w keiichis ass.
30 mins later they heard a knock. Satoshi opened the door “Hey”
“Hey best friend!!! …Wats that smell”
“God you are such a goodie two shoes. Anyway where’s the alcohol” He grabbed it out of keiichis hand. “cool thanks. Come in”
Keiichi walked in and set up the famicom. “This tv is old I don’t even no if I can set this up”
“Are u calling me poor? R u?”
“Um no I didn’t say that. It’s retro that’s kewl”
Rena whispered to Satoshi “He is so dumb I swear to god” “Girl I know right”
“So Keiichi we were thinking of going to the mall tomorrow. Maybe you could come”
“Oh kewl kewl. Yea I’ll come the sports store had this kewl BB gun on sale that I wanted”
“Yeah the Gap had this kewl sweater…it was like 50 bucks tho…so…”
He stared at Keiichi expectantly. He knew he would look sooooo good in this sweater. He wanted to pair it with his acid washed boyfriend jeans n his converses he stole. He bought the jeans JUST so he could pair it with the sweater.
“Hmmm well we could go check it out I guess. Anyway who wants to play Mario”
Rena rolled her eyes “Who wants to fall asleep am I right” Satoshi hip bumped her “Who wants to order a pizza” she said staring at Keiichi
“Yea that sounds good to me guys. Why r u staring at me?”
“Well unfortunately whoever took our bags at school stole all my money so we r wondering if you could get it n we pay you back” Satoshi said blinking his eyelashes “Or do you not like me enough”
“Yeah cool cool. Okay that’s fine…thanks for letting me com over btw”
“Yeah ur welcome. Anyway Rena u gotta see the mag I got at the store today, Debbie gibson is in it” they sat at the table reading the magazine drinking keiichis alcohol.
“Cool I wanna join” Keiichi sat with them.
Satoshi sighed “Cool do u like debbie gibson? Sorry Bruce Springsteen isn’t in this magazine you wouldn’t like it. Anyway Rena this top is so cute, u would look soooo hot in it”
Keiichi tried to join in. “Yea you would look pretty in it. Did u guys catch last nites baseball game?”
“Ummm what kind of loser likes baseball” Satoshi rolled his eyes. Rena and Keiichi both looked at him. Satoshi went back to the magazine n read the astrology section. “My guys look what it says about Geminis this month. Apperantly I am going 2 get rich and get lots of money. Wow that would be nice”
“Wat does it say about Aries” Keiichi didn’t care about girly astrology but he wanted 2 look like he fit in
“It says this month u will feel charitable…hmm that’s nice of u.”
“Wow that’s kewl. Anyway what pizza do we want” they ordered the pizza. Satoshi and Rena started smoking weed again. “Guys what are u doing?” He looked shocked
“I guess what they say is true it’s hip to be square I guess” Rena said smoking the weed and passing it to Keiichi “I thought u wanted to fit in with us.”
“Um ok…”he tried to smoke but he coughed. “why would you wanna do this guys it doesn’t seem very fun”
They showed him how to smoke weed. If he was willing to smoke w them maybe he was a little Kooler than they thot. Keiichi smoked a lot and they thought it would b funny to just let him.
The door bell rang “Keiichi go get it”
It was SHION!!! “OMG what does that ugly ratchet dusty bitch want. Keiichi tell her we went to the mall. Tell her we waited for her but she never showed up n that I’m mad at her”
So he did. “Um why r u at Satoshis house by itself.”
He wanted to answer but he couldn’t think of anything to say “Ummmm well” he was so fucked up he didn’t know what to think “Well his plumbing was messed up so he wanted me 2 look at it for him”
“Whatever just let me in” she pushed her way in “Keiichi are u smoking weed? It’s like I don’t even know U!!!”
Then the pizza came! Keiichi took it
“Keiichi that’s a lot of pizza for just 1 person. Ur sooo high” she laughed at him mockingly “Keiichi why r u listening to Debbie gibson?”
“Ummmm well g2g. Sorry they are at the mall like I said I guess they waited for u”
He shut the door in her face
“Stupid bitch”
He took the pizzas to the other room “She’s so stupid I’m a little sick of her Tbh”
“Omg us too! She thinks she’s all that. Well newsflash…SHE ISNT!!!!” Rena said flipping her hair
“Watever guys let’s just play Mario I guess since Keiichi doesn’t want to have fun.”
They played Mario except Keiichi was so fucked up he couldn’t even play. He was just looking at the screen trying to figure out what path Mario needed to take to jump over the pipe.
“Keiichi what r u doing. U are sooo dumb. Okay let’s prank call people” Satoshi picked up the phone and called the irie clinic.
“Hi is this the irie clinic?”
“Hello yes this is! How can I help you?”
“Oh shit sorry I thought this was the nambla hotline” Satoshi hung up and he and Rena laughed their asses off
“ummm. What’s nambla” Keiichi asked and then laughed his ass off at himself since nobody else seemed to think he was funny
“Keiichi we have soooo much to teach u.” Rena said
They ate the pizza n watched tv. Well maybe Keiichi had friends after all…
“Thank you, Oliver.”
Those were the last words you heard before you were swept away, along with the other paragons, in a flash of white light. You were in a state of constant movement as you saw moments of your life fly by. You focused on each memory, the important ones having a much more lasting appearance.
FLASH
You looked up at your friends in shock when it was revealed you were a paragon who could help save the universe. This was crazy. You had left an Earth devastated by insurmountable loss to now be faced with the exact same issue, except this seemed to be exacerbated tenfold. You nodded in agreement when Barry asked you to help his wife, Iris, Superman and Lois in their pursuit for the rest of the paragons.
FLASH
You found yourself in a poorly guarded building where you were immediately greeted by a man in a red suit, a woman smartly dressed, another in a white lab coat and another male with long hair, a tablet in hand. You expressed your confusion when, in a flash, cuffs were placed on your wrists. You rolled your eyes in annoyance as you looked down at the chains secured around your wrists.
You had just arrived on this Earth, somehow misplaced after “The Snap” on your Earth and having gone through extensive Shield and CIA training, you unlocked the cuffs with ease and faced the group. You explained who you were and where you were from, and Dr Strange’s theory of multiple universes was confirmed when the latter male expressed his glee at your appearance.
FLASH
You launched into Sharon’s arms and hugged your sister tightly. The both of you clung to each other, distraught over your Great Aunt Peggy’s passing. You hadn’t seen Sharon in months as she had been recruited into JTTF by Ross and you had stayed back home, to look after your Aunt, and to join Maria in working at the New Avengers Facility after Shield was disbanded.
Tears fell from your eyes as you mourned your beloved family member. Sharon rocked you both where you stood and murmured a simple ‘I love you’.
FLASH
God, you felt like you had the world’s biggest hangover.
You touched your head, immediately wincing at the sudden pain and you were shocked to see the remnants of blood on your fingertips. You sat upright before you were gently pushed back down by an Indian man, dressed in a white doctor’s coat.
“Stay down. You had a pretty nasty fall that caused that cut on your head. You’ll need some stitches which I’ll get a nurse to do and I can get you something for the pain. But first, I need your name.”
“Where am I?” You asked, ignoring his protests when you sat up once more.
“You’re in the hospital.” The man replied.
“Where?” You repeated, swinging your legs off the bed.
“Chastain Park Memorial, in Georgia, Atlanta.”
The man was joined by another doctor, who looked fairly young, his wrists riddled with beaded bracelets. They both began a quiet discussion and you could only catch certain words. Head fall...could have amnesia...confusion.
“Doctor?”
“Conrad Hawkins and this is my resident, Dr Devon Pravesh.”
“Look, Doctors, I’m fine. I don’t have amnesia and I’m not confused. Well, maybe a little but not because of this.” You gestured your head, the bleeding having stopped.
“I just need my-my phone.”
You looked around for the device when your voice faltered as your eyes widened at the woman approaching.
It couldn’t be.
When the blonde stopped at the foot of your hospital bed, you looked at her in both shock and confusion.
“Ah, this is Nurse Nic Nevin. Nic, this is...”
“Y/N. Y/N Carter.” You answered but found no semblance of recognition in the female’s eyes.
The trio of medical professionals gave each other quick knowing glances before returning their focus to you.
“Y/N, nice to meet you. I’m going to get you all stitched up, get a CT scan done and then, if everything’s good, you’ll be free to go.”
Your sister-no, the nurse-explained. You must still be on Earth 1. No. It was destroyed. And then saved again.
You jumped off the bed, immediately reaching for your coat when you stilled at the news announcement coming from a TV nearby.
“An entity known as the Anti-Monitor attacked Earth intent on its destruction. Thankfully, we were saved by Earth's greatest heroes.”
The pieces then began to fall into place as you realised the events that had come to pass. After the universe was restarted, you and the other paragons must have ended up in different places. The rebirth must have caused you to faint and hit your head which is how you ended up here. That also explained why there was a doppelgänger of your late sister here. It was the Earth 1 version.
Refocusing on the news segment, you listened as the President expressed her condolences and gratitude for Oliver’s sacrifice. At this, your knees weakened and you expected yourself to hit the ground, ready for the impact on the hard marble floor. It didn’t come though. You were held upright by Sharon-Nic, her arms securely wrapped under your arms.
“That news is quite alarming. It was to me when I first heard it.”
She led you back to the bed, where the two doctors were still stood, and gently sat you down.
“I don’t get it. Why didn’t Ollie save himself?” You murmured to yourself.
“You knew Oliver Queen?” Dr Hawkins asked.
“In a manner of speaking.” You replied, lost in your own thoughts.
You were interrupted when you felt a warm wet cloth on your head. Looking up, you noticed the doctors had left leaving Nurse Nevin and you alone as the former started to clean your wound.
“What do you know about this Crisis?” You asked, trying to gage her response to see how receptive she was to the existence of multiple Earths.
“Not much. Just that Oliver Queen, a vigilante from Star City saved our world alongside some other heroes. Apparently there was a Crisis on Infinite Earths but none of us seem to remember much.” She explained, as she stitched your wound, noticing the lack of pain expressed on your face.
“Oh, this is nothing. I’ve had much worse. Believe me. Though, usually, I do my own stitching.”
“You a cop or something?” She raised her brow in question.
“Or something.” You laughed dryly.
“You’re quite the mystery, y/n Carter.” Your sister’s doppelgänger admired.
“You don’t know the half of it.” You countered.
“Tell me.”
You glanced up to stare into the familiar eyes. “Are you sure? This could be shocking to hear.”
When she reassured you and angled you in getting you to reveal your secret, you finally relented.
“Fine. But if you don’t believe me, don’t say I didn’t tell you so. Look, I told you my name but I didn’t tell you who I was. I helped Oliver and some of my friends to rebirth the universe but I’m originally from a different Earth-a different universe. I’m from a place where my family and closest friends are heroes. Similar to here, I guess.”
You then explained about ‘The Snap’, that you worked for a now-corrupt Government organisation but were currently employed by another secret organisation. You paused when you got onto the subject of your sister but continued anyway.
“I lost my sister to ‘The Snap’ and so many others. The reason why I was so shocked when I saw you was because...”
You faltered once more but at Nic’s persistence, you sighed, “You look exactly like her.”
The former looked at you in sheer disbelief and now probably thought you were certifiable so you quickly reached for your phone that was in your coat. Unlocking the device, you opened your photos app and your heart clenched as you scrolled through the photos.
You stopped at a photo of you and Sharon pictured at the gun range where you had beaten her for the first time; your faces were painted with smiles and a look of admiration and pride filled her eyes.
Showing your phone to the Nurse, you heard her gasp, “Oh My God. It’s true.”
“She was everything to me.” You whispered, tears filling your eyes at the painful memory.
“I’m so sorry, y/n.” She said, her hand rubbing your arm in a tender embrace. She may not be your sister but she knew exactly how to comfort you.
“Thanks.” Wiping your tears, you jumped when your phone came to life in your hand, vibrating furiously, as Kara’s face replaced the photo on your screen.
“Kara?” You immediately answered the call and couldn’t help but smile at the superhero’s voice.
“Thank Rao, you’re okay! We couldn’t find you. Where are you?”
“It’s a long story. I’m at the hospital. I promise I’m okay!” You said, when the blonde shouted down the phone in shock.
“Kara, I may not have super hearing but there’s no need to shout. I’ll explain everything later, I just-”
Your next words caught in your throat as you heard two familiar voices.
“Kara, I have to go. I’ll call you back in a bit.”
Hanging up the phone, you pushed back the curtain and you and Nic ran to the origin of the voices. You stopped at the two figures who were clambering out of the beds they were wheeled in on. You shook your head, thinking your mind was playing tricks on you.
There was no way their doppelgängers were here too, even less plausible was the idea that it was actually them.
“Y/N!”
Your jaw dropped as the brunette called your name, the male doing the same when he saw you. It really was them.
You ran up to the beds that the duo were on and stared in shock, “Maria? Nick? Is it really you?”
“Of course it’s us. Now what the hell is going on?” The former director of Shield questioned. Definitely Fury.
You laughed, hugging Nick and then doing the same to Maria. She pulled you from her arms and placed her hands on your shoulders.
“What happened? Last we knew, we were in Atlanta when we...disappeared and the next moment, we were back again.”
“You’re technically still in Atlanta. Wait, how is this even possible?”
“Agent Carter, what’s going on?” Fury asked Nurse Nevin whose mouth opened but no words came out.
“That-That’s not Sharon. This is Nurse Nic Nevin. Um, is there a private place we could talk, Nic?”
                ✧── ・ 。゚★: *.✦ .* :★. ───✧
Nic led you to a unoccupied conference room where you found yourself joined again by the two male doctors.
You caught everyone up to speed but still remained confused as to how the Shield duo were back.
“Maybe the rebirth of this universe somehow stopped Thanos from doing what he did.” Fury suggested and Maria nodded in agreement.
“Nick’s probably right. And in the midst of it all, we were both somehow transported here.”
“So does that mean everyone’s back?” You asked, standing up to lean on the table.
“More than likely.” Maria answered.
“We have to go home. Sharon. She could be back. I have to see her, Maria.”
“I know. We just need to figure out how to get back home.”
“How the hell do you travel to another Earth?” Conrad questioned.
Instead of answering, you dialled Kara’s number and on the first ring, the former picked up.
“Kara, I need your help. Can you get an extrapolator from Cisco and meet me at Chastain Park Memorial? I’ll explain when you’re here.”
Disconnecting the call, you counted down from 10 and upon reaching 1, the blonde in question appeared at the conference room door.
Everyone’s faces were covered with a look of shock making you laugh as you gestured for the hero to enter. She ran to you and lifted you up in a bone-crushing hug, glad that you were okay. She released you when you said you were having trouble breathing.
“Is everything okay in here?”
All of your heads turned to the door where a woman stood, smartly dressed.
“Lucy?” Kara asked in surprise but she introduced herself as Julian Booth, a device representative for QuoVadis.
“Kara, I think there’s some things you need to know.”
                ✧── ・ 。゚★: *.✦ .* :★. ───✧
You explained the situation to Kara and she told you about what had happened in Star City whilst you were here, including the fact that the Anti-Monitor had been shrunk and would stay like that forever, much to his chagrin. She then wished you luck for your return home and expressed her desire for you to continue visiting. After saying goodbye to you, you did the same to Nic and the two doctors.
“You ready to go, y/n?”
“Yeah. Nic, I know this day has probably been the weirdest one of your life but thank you. You may not have known my sister or even be her but I can tell, deep down, you’re exactly like her.”
She smiled and hugged you whilst Dr Hawkins and Dr Pravesh elected to remain in place, watching the embrace.
You returned her smile and joined Nick and Maria. Pressing the extrapolator, a portal appeared in front of you and you looked at the duo,
“Let’s go find my sister.”
_____________________________
Small footsteps padding down the hallway, a soft hum to a rock song that blasted in your ears, occasionally mouthing the words as you walked along. Your mug from earlier was clutched in your hands, now empty and ready to get an evening hot chocolate. You’d had to borrow Sam’s mug because someone had stolen yours. Definitely not Sam…
Soft black leggings, your butt shaped beautifully with the garment, a little crop top on your top half. A large oversized Captain America hoodie over your shoulders, the sleeves shoved up to your elbows. It had been a secret Santa present, but you’d be lying if you said you hated it. You fucking loved it. So cosy and warm and it had the shield of your favourite and only super soldier printed on the front.
 You walked out into the living space of the floor you shared with Steve and Sam, your two best friends. You looked down, threading some of your hair behind your ear as you walked across the wooden flooring to the kitchen. You looked up, two hulking figures in the shadows of the unlit room and you paused, mug tumbling to the ground, smashing at your sock clad feet. The light flicks on and not one, but two super soldiers stand in the living room.
Bucky.
Steve and Bucky were finally home. “Steve?” You asked, voice small and quiet as you pulled an earbud out of your ear. “Sorry we scared you sweetie.” He chuckled walking towards you. You glanced down to see the mug in pieces at your feet and back up at the two soldiers. Shit, Sam’s gonna hate you. “Sergeant Barnes.” You greeted him, small smile on your lips. “Bucky.” He corrected, voice gruff and low, almost too quiet to hear. “Right, Bucky.” You nodded, awkwardly looking away from his intense stare. His bright blue eyes bore into you, it made you feel like you were exposed to him, naked, like he could see everything about you just by staring at you like that. You swallowed thickly as you studied his messy long brown hair tucked behind his ears, the way his shirt hugged his muscles, the glint of that beautiful metal arm in the artificial light.
 “Bucky is staying on our floor.” Steve announced, smiling softly. “Oh, okay.” You nodded before kneeling down to pick up the remains of Sam’s mug. Serves him right for stealing yours. “Next to your room.” Steve added, pointing in the general direction of the spare room that was situated right next to yours. “I hope you like your room, Bucky.” You smiled up at him as you collected the mug pieces into your hands, careful not to hurt yourself before you turned away to bin the pieces. You had no response from the soldier and you stood in the kitchen doorway as you watched the two men leave the room, that icy cold stare lingering on you for a moment until Bucky had to catch up with Steve.
 Damn she was cute. Bucky trailed after Steve. You stared too much, you idiot, she probably thinks you’re weird. He huffed, causing Steve to look over his shoulder at him. “You alright, bud?” He asked as they passed your bedroom door and approached his. “Yeah.” He mumbled a reply. No, you just made a fool out of yourself in front of a cute girl. What was she wearing? Right, a Captain America Hoodie. God how he wished it was the only thing you wer- Stop! Stop it Barnes! Jesus, get your head out of the gutter. “Here we are!” Steve announced, pushing the door to his room open. The room was simple and clean but decorated nicely. Bucky took a tentative step in, eyes instantly flicking to window, the bathroom door to the right, his intense stare scanning the room for possible entries and exit ways. “Remember to ask FRIDAY if you need anything.” Steve patted his shoulder, taking a few steps back. “I’ll let you settle in, I’m opposite you, (Y/n) is next door. I really suggest you get to know her, she’s quiet, sweet, very fun shy girl.” Steve grinned as he talked about you, looking down the hall at you. Bucky peaked around the doorframe to see what Steve was looking at.
 You. He didn’t recognise the song you were half humming, half singing along to, but you were really getting into it, your butt swaying a little as you moved to lean against the back of the sofa, the grind and whir of the hot drinks machine in the background could be heard as you waited for your drink to pour. Pretty little butt. No, stop it Barnes. Before Bucky realised, he’d made a little grunt and Steve was looking at him expectantly. “Just be gentle with her.” Steve went on. “She’s really shy sometimes, get’s very anxious, she sometimes gets panic attacks and is quite sensitive to confrontation and loud voices, just be careful, alright?” Steve smiled, clapping his hand on his shoulder. “Night Buck.” He said over his shoulder as he returned to his room, Bucky’s stare lingering on you for a moment.
 “Morning!” You beamed at the long haired super soldier as you sat at the island in the kitchen, hugging Steve tightly. You had missed your best friend so much that now you just wanted to catch up on the attention you’d missed, not to mention the slightly panicky feeling you’d woken up with, so this was a good way of helping you to calm down. “Uh.” Bucky stared at you both, Steve chuckling at Bucky’s confusion. “We usually cuddle in the morning.” Steve smiled at his best friend as Sam entered the kitchen. “Right.” Bucky nodded. He just wanted you on his lap hugging him the way you were hugging Steve, your sweet little giggles and smiles as you enjoyed the attention. Maybe if he got closer to you, he could have that too. No. You’d just hurt her, Barnes. Look at her and look at yourself, she wouldn’t want to be like that with you. Bucky growled at his thoughts, startling you. He hadn’t realised you’d sidled up beside him to get a mug from the cupboard and now you were backing away, eyes wide. You thought he was growling at you. Great. Fucking. Job.
 “Anyone seen my mug?” Sam asked, walking around the kitchen as he peered in all of the cupboards. You blushed a little, glancing over at Steve and Sam, trying to hide the guilt on your face. You opened your mouth to say something, but your voice didn’t come out, someone else spoke for you. “I broke your dumb mug.” Bucky said gruffly, slamming his bowl down onto the counter top. You looked over at him, surprised he’d taken the blame for you and you mouthed ‘thank you’ to him, a little nod of his head said that it was alright. “You’ve been here one night and you’re already breaking my stuff?” Sam scoffed. “Half my stuff breaks because miss clumsy over here can’t not break things to save her life.” Sam said sarcastically and over dramatically, throwing his arms up. You looked straight ahead at the counter, Bucky’s heart aching a little when you started to react like you were actually being told off. “Sam.” Steve’s voice was stern as he noticed your behaviour. “She’s always so clumsy-.” Sam went on, playful tone in his voice as he teased, thinking you knew he wasn’t actually mad. You couldn’t help that you were clumsy. “Sam.” Steve raised his voice, head nodding in your direction. You stood silently, bright red cheeks, breathing slightly uneven, lips parted. “I broke your mug, Sam. I’m sorry.” Was the only thing you said, just above a whisper before you reached into your pocket and pulled out your earbuds, popping them both in and blasting music to drown out the people around you. You weren’t exactly tipping over the edge of anxiety, but had it not been for your panicky feeling that morning, perhaps you wouldn’t have reacted so badly. You hated the idea of disappointing people, of making them mad at you and while you knew Sam was joking, it still got to you.
 “I didn’t mean to…” Sam trailed off, gesturing loosely at you. “I know, she knows that.” Steve reassured him. “You know she’s a little fragile about that sorta thing.” Steve went on, knowing you couldn’t hear him judging by the muffled sound of Red Hot Chili Peppers from your earbuds. Bucky’s eyes didn’t leave your figure. You slumped over yourself. Steve hadn’t been lying when he said your anxiety was bad.
 Bucky sat at the island, you opposite at Steve’s side, shoulders touching as you were almost leaning up against him. You seemed a lot calmer now, sipping on your coffee, your pink lips pursed around the rim of the mug, your large, fluttery eyelashes, the way your hair fell so beautifully. Bucky just wanted to reach out and touch it, it looked so soft, so smooth, but he knew he shouldn’t. It had taken everything in him to not pull you into a crushing hug earlier when your anxiety reared its ugly head.
 “(Y/n).” Sam put his hand on your shoulder, but you just turned in your seat and wrapped your arms around him. “We’re all good.” You whispered. “I’m still sorry that I broke your mug.” You said quietly. “That’s okay, I kinda stole yours, so I guess we’re even.” He chuckled, hugging you back. Bucky loved how touchy you were, but he wasn’t sure he was ready for that, but he really wanted to be. He really, really wanted to have you greet him with warm hugs, cuddle with him the way you do with the other two boys, hold his hand like he’d seen you do with Steve earlier when you were trying to calm yourself down.
 “Did you have enough to eat?” You asked, voice still small as you looked up at Bucky. He hesitated for a moment. “Bucky, you can eat however much you want, when you want, promise no one will get mad. Well I might get a little annoyed if you don’t tell me when you finish something because I’m the poor gal who’s gotta go grocery shopping for three soldiers.” You giggled, pushing items of breakfast food towards him. “I know how much a super soldier eats and I know from your tiny bowl of cereal that it wasn’t enough.” You pointed out. You were right, Bucky knew it. But he appreicated your efforts with him. A scowl rested on his face. He wanted to say thank you, but all that came out was a gruff grunt and you looked up at him confused. “Right, I- I’ll just go.” You backed away, leaving Bucky alone in the kitchen. Bucky sighed as he poured more cereal into his bowl. Well done Barnes, she probably thinks you hate her.
 “Hey, you alright?” Steve asked, poking you in the side as you sat curled up on the sofa. “I think Bucky doesn’t like me too much.” You spoke quietly. “Oh.” Was all Steve could say. Yep, she definitely thinks you hate her. Bucky overheard from around the corner. “I know I shouldn’t, but I really just wanna give him a hug and tell him it’ll be okay.” You sigh, Bucky’s heart swelling as he listened from the hallway. How is she so goddamn sweet? Can’t get too close to her, you’ll hurt her Barnes. She’s too sweet and fragile for you. Bucky thought to himself, moving away to his bedroom before he could overhear more.
He wished he could be close to you. But he couldn’t.
✧I Need You✧ Chapter 90
Knowing Tony would not rest until you were on your feet, you made a valiant effort to get out of bed the next day. Just to make it easier on him. He deserved to heal, too. You told him you were going to take a shower and get something to eat, tried to coax him to bed. But he protested. “I’ll wait- and then go with you.”
Hands on his shoulders, you gently eased him from his standing position to sit on the bed. “I’m just gonna go down to the kitchen.” Not outside. Just in case. A thought that put both of you at ease.
He still seemed a little unsure, frowning up at you. “...you sure?”
Leaning in, you pressed a tiny delicate kiss to his forehead. He was almost gone in that moment. “I’m sure. Rest. Please.” He’d been up for who knew how long at that point. And he looked like he wasn’t going to last another few minutes awake anyway- though he would absolutely force himself. Only for you.
Slightly convinced, both by you and the weight of his own body dawning on him, Tony sagged until he moved to lie down. Before you could fully turn away to go to the shower, he held a finger up. “Just don’t expect some sort of grand feast downstairs. Those people don’t know how to keep a fridge clean- or full- let alone even know what to fill it with. You might be looking at some literal green eggs and ham.”
The sound of your giggles surprised the both of you. It felt like an eternity since you’d last laughed. ...since you’d last been able to- but most of all, since he’d made you. A wonderful feeling indeed. You rewarded it with another kiss at his temple. “I’ll make do with Dr. Seuss style lunch. Don’t worry.”
His smile was dazed, eyes half closed, as his hand took yours, pressing a kiss to the back. Not really hiding that he was hesitant to let you go. “I love you.”
You gave his hand a small squeeze. “I love you, too, Tony.” With your free one you pulled the covers from the edge of the bed up to his shoulders. “Sleep. Please. Just for a little while. I’ll be here, when you wake up.” Looking up at you with full attention very suddenly, his gaze was more focused. It broke your heart. And even though he didn’t ask you to, “Promise.” A small murmur accompanied with another kiss to his temple.
Just enough to soothe him. He was out before you even left the room.
The shower you took was long and extremely wonderful. You didn’t have to worry about time constraints. About cold water coming down on you if you took too long. Or too hot just to punish you. Or anyone interrupting you. Or even how you took it. God. What a feeling to just be a normal free thinking person, huh? It was terrible, to be grateful for just a normal shower, but you found yourself very much so.
After you’d finished- a solid hour and a half (and very deserved)- you made sure to keep as quiet as possible when you crossed through the master bedroom to the closet. Tony was in a heavy sleep by that point and you had no intentions of ruining it. Fresh clothes were also a god send- yours- another gentle reminder of a normal life that had been taken from you. Gathering them up, you went into the living room to get dressed- but not before spying the Stark Industries zip up of Tony’s that had been left on the back of the chair still scooted close to the bed. No one could fault you for borrowing it, right? So you snatched it up and then just as quietly left, closing the bedroom door behind you.
“JARVIS, set the Do Not Disturb protocol. Cancel anything Tony has going on for the day. And anything that needs his immediate attention route through me. Please.” He’d done more than his fair share. He’d suffered more than enough. He needed rest. And you’d allow him that, where he wouldn’t have himself.
“Yes, ma’am. There are several things that require your attention, now that you’ve returned. Ms. Potts has been requesting to see you for some time.” It wasn’t Pepper you made a grimace over. It was that company duty was calling, and you couldn’t think less you’d like to focus your energy on. Luckily, JARVIS caught your expression. “However… I think it prudent to extend the DND protocol to yourself, for the time being. There’s no use in addressing everyone until you’re ready.”
Now he was giving you the same sort of self-permission to heal that you’d tried to give Tony. All looking out for each other. That certainly had you smiling. “Thanks, JARVIS. And- Pep can come up, if she’s here and wants to. But… I just don’t want to talk about work, okay?” “I shall let her know.”
All dressed, stepping into some flats while you zipped up that hoodie of Tony’s- taking a self-serving moment, finding a little bit of peace and calm and familiarness breathing in the front as you held it to your face. Touched with his cologne and wear, warm, even though he hadn’t had it on for hours now. Just it being his made you feel safe. It was probably silly, but… it made it easier to go to the elevator to depart the penthouse.
It only occurred to you as the elevator signaled its arrival that you were about to come face to face with the family you hadn’t seen in months. The very same people you’d went back and forth on- wishing they’d come get you and then praying they’d never find you so that they could stay safe. And the one person who came closer than anyone else stood inside the elevator as the doors opened, and the two of you stood stock still.
For only three seconds total, and then in mirror moves, you and Bruce both stumbled into each other, arms wide open. His hug was not as crushing as Tony’s had been, but you’d put money on that no one would ever squeeze you as tight as he had. It was still a nice squeezy hug, though. Mutually warm and also somewhat bittersweet. The only thing that bothered the moment was the chime of the elevator doors trying to close and then opening again as the two of you stood right at the threshold.
It made it easier to pull away, a little awkward laugh from the both of you. But instead of going down, he stepped closer into the penthouse, so you eased back to allow him in. “It’s great- that you’re up. I was just uh- coming to check on you. And Tony. Is he around?” “Sleeping.” You held your hands together in front of you. “I’d like for it to stay that way, if that’s okay.”
He waved a hand at you. “You won’t catch me bothering him. I think in all the time you were gone he slept maybe five hours total.”
“I believe you.” A wave of sorrow that was too hard to overcome splashed over you, bringing tears that you wished would just stop. Raising your hand to gently wipe some away, “It’s good to see you, Bruce.”
“You, too. There wasn’t a moment there that any one of us wouldn’t have done whatever it took. ...you know?” Yet as he said this, he hung his head a little, and it wasn’t just you who was feeling blue anymore. Not to mention the rising tide of guilt stewing inside him. “I uh… I heard the address, that the team went out to-”
Reaching out you laid a hand on his arm. “That wasn’t your fault. It was better- anyway- that you got sent away-”
“Guy scrambled my brains, right?” He didn’t exactly shrug you off, but he did step aside and start moving around. Not pacing yet, but… getting closer with every word. His hands were waving around, as he began speaking. “I don’t even remember going out there. Or coming back, really. I remember… Tony drilled everyone that went out scouting- every time they came back, he had a million questions. But. Not me. I told him once and I just- ...watched him give up.”
This is not what you needed right now, but you weren’t the only one suffering. Which was a tough thing to deal with. “He trusts you.” That had to be why, right?
“He trusts everyone else, doesn’t he?” Looking up at you for answers. “If he’d just… if he’d just prodded a little more- maybe I would’ve remembered something…”
Walking the few feet or so that he’d spun away, you reached out again to lay a hand on his shoulder this time. “It wasn’t your fault. That guy-” Even thinking about him now made you feel sick. It put a halt to your words, and luckily also to Bruce’s pacing and wandering guilt-ridden mind. “...that’s what he does. That’s all. There wasn’t anything you could have done. It was better that way- anyway-”
“It wasn’t.” He looked up at you over the rim of his glasses, pleading. “I would have made peace with Hulk tearing down that whole neighborhood- if it meant saving you.”
Your smile was weak as you nudged him. “No you wouldn’t have.”
His own smile matched yours, with a huff of small laughter, head shaking as he dropped it. “No. I guess not. But it would’ve been easier than all the other times, at least.” Finally removing his glasses, he wiped them on the corner of his shirt. “I just keep… trying to think back on it. And it’s just. Gone. It’s hard to live with that.”
“We’ll figure it out.”
He looked at you for a long moment, and the hug that he pulled you into was a little surprising, but not unwelcome in the slightest. “You first, alright?” Once he let you go, he put his glasses back on and gave you another faded smile. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to uh… come up here and put all that on you. I’ve just been thinking about it a lot.”
It was easy to assure him. “It’s okay. Will it help if I release you from thinking about it?” Trying to make some playful hand gesture, two fingers tapping at his left shoulder then at his right. You realized too soon that that was the gesture for-
“I think you just knighted me but. I’ll make do.”
“I’m no queen.” Stepping back in line with him to the elevators, you were both relieved when you let some genuine giggles escape.
His smile was warm, then. “Tell that to everyone else around here. Especially Tony.”
He was over-exaggerating, you were sure. You couldn’t let such a thing go to your ego. They were just your family. And they would have done anything to get you back. That didn’t make you a queen. It just made you lucky. And loved. He touched the button for the labs only after you pushed the one for the living quarters below. And since you weren’t headed to the same place… you decided to try and release what you couldn’t stop thinking about. “Hey… what was the reason you showed up at that place in Brooklyn anyway? I’m assuming following some lead- neighbors heard screaming or something- saw me in a window?”
The episode that had occurred had been fuzzy. And the more you thought about it… the more you realized you were losing. You did remember Bruce being there. And you did remember that man telling him to go away and forget about it. But everything else was surrounded by extensive depression that ensued almost immediately after. A low point that had fogged over everything else.
And part of you was now worrying… had he told you to forget, too? Some point? Somewhere? How would you even know…?
“He just told me to go. The longer time passes the more I’m losing on the event, but- you know Tony. I’m sure he had drones out all over the city. Probably was a noise complaint he caught on a police scanner. He was taking any lead he could get at that point.” The doors opened to the labs and he stepped out but turned back to give you a smile and a small wave.
So you waved back. “Thanks, Bruce.” At that he seemed to wilt a little. You caught the whisper of thought here- thank me when I actually do something. Another little chip in your heart. But the doors closed before you could follow him, and you let yourself let it go. For now.
Easy to do, a little swell of anxiousness in your gut, as the elevator descended and then opened up onto the floor with the living quarters and the family Mess Hall. You didn’t know who would be there, but as you stepped out near the back of the room, you saw Clint sitting at the table with half a sandwich in hand- who spied you, a little arch of his brow and a light grin.
He then snapped his hand against the back of Steve’s thigh- who had been pouring himself what looked like a glass of lemonade from a pitcher. Jolting a little he half turned with a little bit of frustration, “What?” And when Clint nodded towards you, Steve turned.
And the feelings he projected were almost like… it was sort of like a puppy, no disrespect meant of course- but just the way he brightened and the excitement and relief that poured out of him- kind of like a puppy who had been waiting for someone to come home for quite a long time. The feeling swept you up along with his bright smile and you risked looking rather stupid in front of Clint as you rushed from the back of the room and into Steve’s arms as he opened them for you- Promptly leaning down to accommodate the difference, so that he could scoop you up. It was strange, it wasn’t like you doubted how much your love for these people had grown in the few years now that you’d known them- but in moments like this- where Steve was crushing you to him (though still not as tight as Tony had), you knew. You really were family.
“It’s good to see you out of bed.” Murmured somewhere at your shoulder as he still hung on to you. He held on for just a little bit longer before setting you down on your feet. “Where’s Tony?”
“Taking up my spot.”
Clint snorted and stood up from the table. “See? Told you she’d put him down.”
Steve just made a face at him and then gave you a little anxious smile. “We were worried. About the both of you.”
At this you shied back. “I’m sorry- about this- all of it-”
The fridge door pulled open and Clint huffed out a noise. “Don’t start with that. If we all blamed ourselves for everything out of our control, we’d all be in a lot of trouble.”
Steve’s strong hand went to your shoulder. “He’s right. From what we’re getting, the guy was dangerous. No one’s puttin’ any blame on you for getting caught up with him.”
You gave a weak shrug. “I think at least Fury is mad at me.”
Clint shut the door of the fridge. “Fury’s just frustrated because the guy got away.” Putting some provisions on the counter, he pulled a loaf of bread from a cabinet. “Believe it or not, he was right behind Tony the whole time- on gettin’ you back.”
“Not that we weren’t.” Steve seemed to take some soft offense to this. “Every hit we got, we went out looking.”
“I don’t doubt it.” Reaching up to give him a light pat on the arm. You didn’t think any of them had given up. How could you? “I just can’t help feeling like- ...out of everyone- you know. Me? I should’ve been able to… figure it out.”
“You’re standing here, aren’t you?” Steve’s voice went softer, asking this, eyes imploring as he looked at you.
Finished doing what he was doing, Clint turned, handing to you a pristine looking sandwich on a plate. And Tony thought these guys were animals. “Mind control is a shitty thing. There’s no point in asking why me or why didn’t I get out sooner. Trust me. At least you got out.”
Remembering a time when he had to get knocked around to escape from someone else’s control. Realizing, only then, he probably understood more than anyone else you knew. When he jiggled the plate at you, you laughed apologetically and took hold of it. “Thanks.”
“Looked like you could use something to eat.” Giving a shrug. About as don’t mention it as it got.
You regarded his offering. “You know… Tony was pretty sure I was gonna get served up some green eggs and ham, coming down here.”
And at this, Clint really did laugh, shaking his head as he sat down again. “We’re not as bad as he thinks, you know.”
Steve stood there, brow raised. “Green eggs?”
In the midst of a bite of his sandwich, Clint answered with another laugh. “A little after your time.”
“Dr. Seuss.” You, hopefully helpfully, answered.
Sighing, Steve put his hands on his hips. “I’ll put it on the list.” After that he gave you a long look. “...you staying?”
Though it made you feel guilty, “I think I just need some fresh air. Hope you don’t think I’m cutting and running.”
Clint waved a hand. “We’re all good.”
Steve nodded, a small little pat at your arm. “We’ll catch up later.” Giving you an offering of the lemonade he’d poured for himself, which you gratefully stole off with to the balcony.
It was nice, not really being alone, knowing Steve and Clint were still in the kitchen back the other way- not that anyone could come up here and hurt you- because even if they tried, the Tower had defense- JARVIS and LUNA would keep you safe, you were sure. And… Tony would be down here in a matter of seconds should anything happen… Really. Truly… you were okay… it was just, little things. You couldn’t help but be nervous. Scared still. ...only a little.
Here you were safe. You were home here. Two thoughts you let repeat over and over as you tried to force yourself to eat something. The city was alive and well beneath you, sprawling in all directions. People running around in their busy lives. And, briefly, you wondered if… he was down there, somewhere…
The sound of the sliding door behind you gave you a little jolt, and you twisted quickly- eying Natasha as she stepped out, plastic bag in her hands. “Sorry. Didn’t mean to startle you.”
You ducked your head. Ashamed. Natasha out of all of them, you supposed, probably sensed your own guilt. Your need to have been stronger. She had trained you. And one moment in time you’d gotten lucky, and almost escaped through your own means. But… that hadn’t worked. And instead, in the end, you hadn’t fought anyone. You’d just run away.
When you didn’t answer her she came over, sitting close but not uncomfortably so. “It’s good to see you up.”
Everyone kept saying that to you, and you had no doubt they all meant it. “It’s good to be up.” Knowing now that you just weren’t going to finish it, you pushed your plate of quarter eaten sandwich aside and turned your attention to her. “What’s that?” If she’d come out here with it, you assumed it was for you.
But her face when you asked- crestfallen and that feeling of apologetic told you you might not have wanted to ask. “It’s um… I was coming upstairs to talk to Tony but, JARVIS told me to go away.”
You aimed a bit of mock surprise at her. “Is that what he said exactly?”
“Even harsher, if you can believe it.” Truthfully, with the smile she was wearing, you weren’t sure if she was joking or not. “But-” And now that the fun was over, “...they’re the clothes you came in with. We took them for testing. DNA… anything we could get.”
Immediately your mood soured. Your eyes dropped, avoiding hers, and you felt like sitting back on the bench so you could hug your knees to your chest. Instead you forced yourself to sit still. “Oh.”
“Yeah. Well, the lab’s done with them, so…”
“I don’t want them.”
“I figured.” She said this in a deep sigh out. “Tony was adamant he’d never seen them before, so we knew they must’ve come from… where you’d been.” She really was trying her best to be delicate.
You really did appreciate it. The thought of Tony also knowing your extensive wardrobe- although, you had disappeared in a party dress. So. Maybe it wasn’t that deep. ...you pretended that it was. “For all I know he ordered a woman in the street to strip. They could belong to anyone.” Was that man the sort of man who went out to a store and bought a dress for his little p̶̠͙̤̠̤̺̌͑̇̂̋̊̄̂͗͊͘͘u̸̧̘͎̳͓͖̳̹̤̺̙̘̭͓̦͒̍͑̈́p̸̢͓͓̳̭͎̥̹̝̙̰̺̯̀̏̆̑̾̎ͅ-
In one single moment your thoughts spiraled out of control. It was too hard to think- and in the next it was too hard to breathe- he was there. Somewhere. You’d heard his voice. He was still here. He was still in your head. He could order you off the balcony- he could- he could-
“Hey.” Natasha’s strong voice caught you at just the right moment, as did the hand on your shoulder, close to your neck, squeezing just enough. “Eyes on me. Breathe.” So you looked at her. And followed her instructions. In- and then out- until the noise died.
Until it was just you. Your shivering. And your shame. Looking away from her, unable to live with yourself, “I’m sorry- I’m just- still-”
“You’ll get there. Don’t apologize.” She held you like that for a few moments longer, until finally she got up. “I have an idea. Hang on.” Then she got up and left. Leaving you with that bag. Staring at you. Stained and bloodied clothing waiting inside. Little summer dress- underwear- It took everything in you to not go back to that place.
Thankfully she came back, metal grated waste basket in hand- along with- “Is that lighter fluid?” Why did the kitchen have lighter fluid?
She set the basket down and then sat down next to you. And, then finally, she picked up the plastic bag and handed it to you. “It is. Here.”
Natasha was trying to give you back control. With trembling hands you reached out to take it, and then pulled the contents from within. You held on to them, perhaps a little longer than you should have- if there was a measurement somewhere in the universe for such things. She steadied your shaking with a hand on your arm.
“Don’t rush this.” Giving you permission. To take as long as you needed.
So you did. You sat there with yourself. Your sadness. Your guilt. Your shame. And your darkness. Shivering. Long minutes passed until finally you drew a long breath in and then let it out, dumping the dress and undergarments into the basket. Once you let go of them, she gave you the little yellow bottle, and you squeezed perhaps a little too hard. Dousing them completely.
Instead of a lighter, she’d brought a box of matches, and held it up to you. And then waited for you to take hold. Once you did, it took you a few tries with your trembling hands to get a strike. But once you did you held it, briefly, the wind almost snuffing the tiny light out. You waited… and waited… and then tossed it in.
The flames caught almost immediately. And so you sat there. Watching it all burn. You weren’t sure when the crying had started. But you knew the moment it had, Natasha had put an arm around you and guided your head to her shoulder.
And the two of you watched. You sat there together and watched until there was nothing left but ash.
Brought Back (Part 1) (Obiyukiweek19: Kindness)
Here’s my first entry for this Obiyukiweek!
Please enjoy! :)
 Shirayuki woke up in a daze in the middle of the night. The clock indicated that it was three in the morning, not exactly what she would call a reasonable time to wake up. She rubbed her eyes and stared at her room, mystified.
Something had woken her up, but what?
As she started to settle back in, a loud banging noise wrecked the silence like a bulldozer.
Shirayuki clutched her sheets, her heart beating wildly in her chest. She shrugged into her bathrobe. The infernal sound was coming from her door. Shirayuki hoped that if she pretended that she wasn’t home, whoever it was would go away. Not only was this a very strange time to knock on someone’s door, but this also reminded her of all the terrifying stories Yuzuri had told her about people getting killed while they lived alone.
The loud banging started up again, even louder than before.
Resolution replaced her fear and she made her way to the door. She silently turned on her lamp. The person knocking wasn’t letting up, and the idea of having to call the police made the stone weigh heavier in her stomach. She shuffled towards the door, hoping any of the neighbors in the apartment complex would come out to see who was making all the racket, but no one came out.
She opened the peephole and saw a tall man with gray hair and a slight scar upon his cheek staring at the door angrily. She jumped when he suddenly yelled:
“Obi! I know you’re in there! Come out here, you son of a bitch!” the stranger looked almost out of his mind. Shirayuki thought he must be drunk.
“Sir, this “Obi” you’re looking for doesn’t live here,” she called out through the door carefully.
Just as the man spoke again, one of her windows started shaking slightly. Shirayuki watched with a dry mouth as a man opened it, folding himself into the frame and unfolding himself into her living room. He was tall as well, wiry, with spiky hair, his black shirt was stained with a liquid that surely wasn’t water and his face was more bruised than a WWE fighter, swallowing his strange eyes in a valley of purple tinges.
He did not notice her right away, as he groaned in pain and uttered a silent curse when his hand brushed his swollen face.
“God damn, he did not miss my face…” he did not finish his sentence once he noticed Shirayuki, who promptly squeaked in surprise and fear.
They stood, both frozen, waiting for the other to say something first. The man’s eyes slid over her apartment, taking everything in, from her libraries filled with books to the brim, to the cozy but run-down sofa, to the lacy drapes and vast array of plants that populated most of the free square inches.
“I’m sorry miss, it seems I’ve entered the wrong apartment,” the man said, his voice calm, as if not to induce any fear into her.
Only one incredulous thought raced through Shirayuki’s head in that moment:
“We’re on the fifth floor?” she answered, bewildered, all her anxiety exploding into that one sentence.
“Oh, it seems I’m your upstairs neighbor, I live on the sixth floor,” he tried to smile but it looked more like a grimace.
Their exchange was halted when another wave of knocking came from the other man, still abusing Shirayuki’s door.
“Oh great, he followed me. I’ll lead him away, don’t worry. Sorry for… all of this,” he gestured vaguely around himself and winced as the man pounded at the door, hollering.
He bypassed her, as she stood there, trembling, but her curiosity was now blooming since the man didn’t seem to want to hurt her. Shirayuki gathered her courage and asked softly:
“Is… Is that man trying to hurt you?”
Obi seemed to pause for a moment, thinking.
“Yes… He is,” he answered, his eyes holding hers, as if to convey that he wasn’t lying. Shirayuki nodded her head resolutely and walked to the front door. This could be the worst mistake of her life, but the man didn’t seem like he wanted to hurt her, whereas the one on the other side of the door looked much more threatening.
She opened the door slightly, keeping the chain still in place, preventing the man from opening it any further.
“Hel… Hello, it seems you’ve come to the wrong apartment. Please leave, if you continue, someone might call the police…” Shirayuki looked up at him for a split second and the face she saw wore a mask of confusion and irritation.
“Ma’am, is Obi here? I saw him…” he insisted, his eyes trying to peer behind her slight silhouette, into her house.
“I don’t any person by that name, you’re mistaken sir. Now please… Please leave,” Shirayuki tried to sound as intimidating as possible.
The man glared at her. Then, with one last glance at her flat, he turned away, grumbling, towards the staircase. Shirayuki’s legs were shaking so bad she thought she might fall to the ground right then and there. She clutched her heart and almost jumped when she heard the other man move behind her, unintentionally towering over her, peeping through the peephole.
“Hm he’s gone, that’s good,” he mumbled to himself.
He then seemed to realize how close he was standing next to Shirayuki and backed off, palms up, trying to appear as unthreatening a man with a battered face could look, which wasn’t much. From up close, she could see that also had a few scars on his body, some peeking out from his shirt, others marring his face. She could tell that this man had seen a fair amount of fights.
As silence settled once more, Shirayuki didn’t know what to do. Kick the man out? But what if the other man was waiting around the corner? Shirayuki felt an impending headache loom.
She then noticed that the man was swaying slightly on his feet.
“Oh, please sit down,” she hurriedly said, motioning him towards a straw chair near the dining table. Having a stranger in ones’ house is pretty bad, but if he faints, then there will be even more trouble.
He limped towards the chair and sat rather ungracefully on it, his whole body betraying his exhaustion.
“Are… Are you Obi?” Shirayuki asked, passing him a towel full of ice she had fetched in the kitchen.
“Well, that is one of my aliases,” he explained with a smirk before adding: “And what is your name Miss?”
“It’s Shirayuki. My name’s Shirayuki,” she answered, “what just happened?”
“Um… I owed that man some money,” he smiled sheepishly. Shirayuki squinted at him, trying to figure out whether he was lying or not.
Silence draped itself over them, pleasant, if only slightly awkward. A few minutes passed in this way, Shirayuki had so many questions bouncing around in her head she wished she could ask but couldn’t find the words to do so. Obi suddenly stood up.
“Well Miss, it’s been a pleasure. Thanks for the towel and… well, saving me,” he winked, “he’s probably gone by now, so… I should probably go.”
But as soon as he took a step, he winced in pain and stumbled, falling like a log.
Shirayuki panicked, her hands hovering over his body for moment, till a groan of pain snapped her back to her senses. She turned him over, cautiously, and checked him, noticing an alarming dark stain growing on his side. Judging from the other stains, it was blood, and fresh at that. She peeled the shirt back to reveal his side and gasped in horror, he had been stabbed.
She stood up, intent on calling the ambulance, when Obi rasped: “No, it’s okay, I’ll be fine, it’s just a little cut.”
Shiaryuki scoffed and reached for the phone.
Before she could even blink, he was behind her, his callused hand lightly but firmly restraining her from using the phone.
“I promise I won’t hurt you, and I know like that sounds exactly like something someone would say just before they hurt someone, but I’d really rather not get the police involved,” he whispered.
Shirayuki could only nod, heart leaping in her chest.
“Thank you,” he sounded relieved.
He left with no other word, closing the door softly behind himself.
As soon as he left, stillness took its rightful place once more and Shirayuki stood there for a while, bewildered, before she finally went back to bed, her mind reeling. For this to happen on her only day off, she honestly believed her luck was rotten.
*
The next morning Shirayuki woke up, her head pounding from lack of sleep. She sleepily went to make herself a cup of tea to wake herself up, eyes half-closed, trailing her covers behind her like a fluffy cape. As she woke up more and more, memories of what happened last night came back to her, like a half-remembered dream being conjured up once again.
Shirayuki wondered if that man, Obi, was really her upstairs neighbor. She had never seen him before this. Had he just moved in recently? She was so distracted by her thoughts that she did not notice that she was running late for work.
Garack was going to kill her.
*
“For having had a day off yesterday, you sure do look like crap, my dude,” Yuzuri remarqued, coffee in hand.
“Thank you for pointing it out, Yuzuri,” Shirayuki sighed, her whole body felt heavy.
Working in a morgue was considered by many to be a strange job, to be of the living but also constantly working alongside death.
Shirayuki didn’t adore her job but she had grown up constantly surrounded by death and it no longer scared her or disgusted her. It was merely another chapter in the journey. treating the dead respectfully was one of the last things a living person could do to honor their memory. She had learned this very early on, thanks to the fact that her grandparents owned a funeral parlor but also due to the death of her mother.
Death was almost an old acquaintance by now.
*
Obi woke up in a haze, head pounding. His whole body ached, and he knew that the moment he moved it would get worse, but his stomach was aching and demanding to be fed immediately. He rolled over, basking in the blissful silence. He knew it wouldn’t last, but he hoped it would go on for a while.
Boy, was he wrong.
“Sir, if you could just tell my wife…”
“Boy, now you listen to me…”
“Please find…”
Voices swarmed him like a tidal wave, some were louder than others, permeating the air. Shutting them out wasn’t an easy option. He had learned over the years that it required a lot of concentration. Or booze. Concentration he currently did not possess, as his whole body screamed in pain from the beating of the night before and as his stomach ate itself away. And as for the alcohol, well... he could maybe arrange that.
“Shit,” he mumbled and padded into what one would have once called a kitchen, but its current state of cleanliness indicated otherwise.
The voices followed, as they always did, and Obi tried his best to ignore them.
Another day in hell, it seemed.
 The thing with being a necromancer that nobody ever told him, is that yes, even though you can summon the souls the of the dead, more often than not, the dead are the ones who want to communicate. So, they find people who can hear them, and chatter away.
Characters: Avengers!Bucky Barnes x reader
Warnings: None at all :)
Chapters - |Fucking Avengers| Curioser and Curioser | Down the rabbit hole | Curiosity killed the Bucky | Keep Your temper | Begin at the beginning | And go on till you come to the end | Six impossible things before breakfast | Who in the world am I? | We’re all mad here |
There are moments in life that define you as a person. Moment’s that make you who you are today, specific moments when something so drastic or so small could happen that it changes or makes you as a person. You had a few of those in  your lifetime, for example.
The day you graduated high school, stood out for you. It was where your love of photography came from. The day you bought your first camera, got your first job, suffered your first heartbreak from your douchebag college boyfriend. All these moments stand out for you, but one moment in particular in your life stood out more than others.
The day you met James Buchanan Barnes. Somehow you remember exactly what you were wearing that morning, what you ate for breakfast and even what time you walked into the office, almost tripped and looked into those incredibly wonderful starlight blue eyes.
And every moment after that, that you had spent hating him and the Avengers. Suddenly became a memory that stood out for you. Like stark red blood against cold white snow. You couldn’t explain it, and you yourself didn’t know when it happened but you found yourself cherishing those moments with him. Even the time he threw you out a window and jumped off a building with you. As much as you hated those memories, you sort of loved them too.
So when, James Buchanan Barnes stepped into the room that day. Every single thing just, melted away and all you saw was him. There was so much you wanted to say but couldn’t find any words, instead you were left with nothing, just a blank stare.
“Hi.” Bucky said, his voice breaking the deafening silence between the two of you.
“Hi.”
“Are you okay?”
“I think so.”
Bucky moved closer, and took a seat on the chair beside the bed you lay in. You couldn’t look at him for some reason, so instead you looked down at your hands, folded in your lap.
“I uhm...I’m sorry.” He said softly. Bucky wanted to reach out and touch you but he doesn’t, he hesitates not knowing what was the right move in this instance. “About Will…”
At the mention of Will, fresh tears suddenly spring into your eyes, and you quickly wipe them away with the palm of your hand. He shouldn’t have to feel guilty for what happened and you didn’t want him to seeing you crying either. But guilt suddenly ripples through him when he sees those tears and he’s at a loss for words.
The little silver flashdisk  that he held in his hand, suddenly felt as if it carried the weight of the world on it. And Bucky knew what he had to do, what was the right thing to do. He couldn’t keep this from you, you deserved to know. Deserved to have some sort of closure or you would spend your whole life wondering what had happened to Will and why he turned out the way he did.
“I know this isn’t the right time but…” Bucky placed the disk on the bedside table and looked up at you, “I’m sorry for how things turned out and I wish I could take away whatever sorrows you have right now but, I think you need to see this.”
You looked at the flashdisk and then back at him. “What is that?” You asked, with a frown, sniffling a little.
“Will Crawford left it for you.”
Your heart suddenly felt as if it had turned to stone in your chest and your stared wide eyed at the silver disk. What could Will have possibly left on the disk, and why did Bucky have it.
“What’s on it?” You asked.
“I’ll leave you alone to watch it.” Bucky answered cryptically, “F.R.I.D.A.Y will give you access to the TV.” With that Bucky stood up and began to walk out.
“Wait,” You said quickly, and he paused for a second turning his gaze back to you. “Thank you…” You said softly, “For saving my life.”
Bucky smiled at you, “Always.” was all he said before he walked out and shut the door. Leaving you alone with just the haunting silver flashdisk that now sat beside you. Practically screaming at you to watch it.
‘The time is uhhh...7:04PM and I am currently sitting in my living room filming this. I guess Y/N, if you’re watching this it means I didn’t make it out of this whole mess alive.’
Will Crawford’s voice filled the room you were in and and you immediately hit the pause button.
Forcing down the lump in your throat as you looked at your now dead ex boyfriend on the screen before you. He sat in the living room, the living-room you had spent so many days with him in. Happier days when everything was okay, and well wasn’t such a cluster fuck. Tears escaping your eyes,  you took a deep breath and composed yourself, whatever was on this disk, you needed to watch it, to help you understand.
“So, I guess I should start at the beginning” Will’s voice sounded once more as you hit play again. “It wasn’t always fucked up between us,” He sighed and you knew he was talking directly to you now.
“There were really good times, happy times even. I really did love you and I’m sorry it all got so twisted along the way. I’m sorry I used you, even though sorry doesn’t even begin to cover half of what I have put you through. I’m sorry about the Senate dinner, It wasn’t supposed to go that way, but I guess in a way I am glad it did because it put you on his radar.” Will paused and sighed again, taking a sip of the whiskey in front of him before he continued. “OSCORP was my idea entirely, which again I should have been less reckless with your life. I just thought if you had more near death experiences Mr Barnes, who I am sure is watching this with you right now would only want to protect you more. I know I kept throwing you in his path and I never expected him to fall so hard for you, I thought it would be a simple crush, maybe you two would fuck once or twice but I saw it and well...It hurt nonetheless, even though it was me who caused all this. But it what what they wanted, they wanted to hurt Barnes and somehow they knew they could use you to do it.”
Will leaned back against the leatherback couch, and looked directly into the camera, “Y/N, you deserved a lot more than I gave you and I know that now. Hydra won’t stop, they didn’t when my father worked for them and they won’t now that they control my company. I should have gone to the Avengers sooner, but Hydra threatened to hurt my family, to kill you if I didn't comply. I must sound like the world’s biggest asshole to you right now, but I just want you to know that I am sorry for all of it, for the mistakes, for the ugly words I said to you, for putting this burden on your head and for thrusting you into this world you had no business being a part of. I hope that Bucky Barnes takes better care of you than I ever did, because I can assure you, he is a hundred times the man I ever was.”
“On that final note, We had a fight tonight and I’d like you to know I never meant what I said. If you remember it then you know what I am talking about, I was hurt, and angry because I saw you falling for him too and I couldn’t stop it. Not without getting you killed. So, Y/N, I just want you to know you always were my best friend, and I’m sorry I failed you so miserably. I’m sorry I chose Hydra and my family’s legacy over protecting you.”
“And Bucky Barnes, Do right by her, please, because I never could.”
When the recording ended, and the screen faded to black. You sat there, heart thundering wildly in your chest as you let Will’s words sink into your mind. The weight of his confession cascading down on you as if you stood beneath a waterfall at this very moment.
You were at a loss for words, emotions raw and running wild. So many questions, mostly how dare he? How dare he do all this and then die, leaving you with this shitty recording of him admitting his sins and then basically telling Bucky he could have you. Like you were some prize that could be traded between men.
“Asshole!” You exclaimed, “Stupid, fucking asshole!” without thinking you hurled the nearest object you could find at the sleek black screen. The glass shattering on impact.
“Will Crawford, you selfish, stupid, worthless sack of shit. You fucking moron. Oh my god!” You screamed, rage boiling over like a overflowing cauldron and before you knew it you jumped out of the bed and started angrily hurling things around the room.
A mixture of tears and anger as you pretty much wrecked the room. You found yourself repeatedly punching the TV screen where Will’s face was a few moments ago. It didn’t make a single iota of rational sense but your rage was unleashed, there wasn’t a rational thought inside your mind. Blood oozing from the wounds on your knuckles, cuts on your arms from being scratched by the glass and feet bleeding from the glass you had stepped in. Suddenly, a pair of muscular arms wrap around your waist and haul you away from the now cracked and shattered screen,
“Stop!” Bucky’s voice commands but you fight against him, trying to get away. He was the last person you wanted to see right now.
“Let go of me!” You exclaimed, struggling against his vice grip. You twisted every which way, trying to shove him off you but to no avail. He was stronger than you were and he held you to his chest, firmly.
“Calm down.”
“Bucky! Let go of me! For fucks sake!” Suddenly you were crying, you couldn’t decide if it was angry crying or because you were genuinely terrified but hot tears were streaming down your face.
Bucky suddenly releases you from his grip and you stumbled forward, falling to the ground on your hands and knees, gasping for air.
He knelt down beside you and placed his cool, metal hand on your back.
“I’m sorry, it’s okay.” He murmured.
“Get away from me!”
You looked up at him and it was unexplainable the anger you felt, but Bucky knew it was grief and he was the closest thing to you right now that you could take your grief out on so he lets you.
“Y/N…”
“No!”
“I’m trying to help you.” He said exasperatedly reaching his hands out towards you once more
“I don’t need your help, Bucky.” You snarled at him, shitting his hand away.
“I’m sorry, I get it.”
“Get out!” you exclaimed.
“Please let me…”
“Get out.” You screamed at him, and Bucky sighed. He wasn’t going to win this fight and he resigned to the fact. Slowly he rose to his feet casting a glance to you on the floor once more before he stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
You leaned against the bed frame, and suddenly were overtaken by emotion. And uncontrollable sobbing ripped through you as you held your knees to your chest, and sobbed on the floor. Bloodied and messy, you didn’t care.
A few minutes later, you heard the door open again and footsteps crunching over the broken glass. They take a seat beside you, and you already knew who it was without looking up. He sighs deeply and reaches over, placing a comforting hand on your back.
“It’s going to be okay.” Bucky said softly.
The next couple of weeks were shitty to say the least. You had to sit through interview after interview with different magazines and companies and the police and the Avengers. Repeating the same answers again and again to all of them.
Reporters hounded you for more information on Will’s death, to which you had no response to of course. It got to the point where you had to quit your job and move apartments because of the invasion of privacy from those vultures.
Bucky tried to be there for you, he came with you to physical therapy and to almost every appointment at the psychiatrist which you appreciated but you didn’t want to be round him. Not right now, with pretty much everyone’s eyes on you, the last thing you needed was the Winter Soldier shadowing you everywhere. He seemed kind of hurt by you asking for time alone but he didn’t argue it, instead he respected your wishes and stayed away.
Finally six weeks later, everything had seemingly died down and you gained some semblance of a normal life again. Well as normal as it could be, you found a new apartment and a job that would keep you out of the public eye for a while. The sleepless nights still plagued you, sometimes you would sit up and obsessively check the news for anything to do with Hydra, you had to know more, it became a slight obsession. Always looking over your shoulder, became a second nature
The feeling of butterflies in your stomach is such a weird thing to explain. It felt like there were a million butterflies just zinging around inside your stomach, your palms clammy, heart pounding in your chest. But it’s how you felt when you walked into the Avengers tower that morning, nervously saying hello to the security in the lobby and asking to see Bucky Barnes.
An incredulously look on the his face as he looked at you but he phoned up to the tower and a few minutes later, Sam Wilson showed up in the lobby with a grin on his face.
“Well, well, look who it is” He said enveloping you in a hug. An unexpected show of affection towards you and it made you feel welcomed and comforted.
“Hi Sam.” You laughed, returning his hug.
“What brings you to our humble home?” He asked, slinging his arm around your shoulders and guiding you to the elevator with him.
“I uhh…” You hesitated and cleared your throat, “I need to see Bucky.”
“Something wrong?” Sam asked, a worried expression suddenly in his face.
“No, no I just…” You paused, and listened to the whirr of the elevator as it moved up floor by floor. “I need to apologize to him” you said softly.
“Ahhh…” Was all Sam said, with an understanding expression on his face.
You sighed deeply and rubbed your face with your hands, this was hard for you. You had asked Bucky to stay away from you, because you wanted to get your life together, pick up the broken pieces that Will had left behind. And Bucky being around you, it seemed always brought bad luck or so you had thought. He was trouble, him and his Avengers were trouble and as long as you stayed in his path your life would never be normal and that’s all you wanted after Will’s death. Some sense of normalcy.
So you told him to leave you alone, to stay away so you could live your life out of the public eye. Because every magazine that printed something about you or article that was written was calling you the Winter Soldier’s girl all of a sudden, how they came to that conclusion you had no idea. You soon did find out though, when Bucky told you what he did at the hospital for you, how he demanded they give you to the Avengers for medical care. This was kind of the tipping point for you, he for all his goodness and kindness was too protective and intrusive and you needed to get away.
But a slow realization dawned on you in the weeks to come, your life would be anything but normal now that you knew you had feelings for him. You had to eventually see him, it sort of felt like this innate disability your feelings for him. Because even though you wanted a normal life and you had forced yourself to live this vanilla, quiet life away from the public eye. You still sat for hours in front of your laptop, scrolling through news feeds and articles, reading up on Bucky and the Avengers.
And then one morning, you just felt it. The loneliness that comes from rejecting your feelings and you just knew what you had to do.
“How have you been?” Sam asked, interrupting your train of thought.
“Good.” You mumbled, slightly shaking your head to rid yourself of the nervous thoughts that plagued you
“How’s work?”
“It’s you know...business as usual.” You replied.
Sam nodded and thankfully the elevator doors opened onto the landing and the two of you stepped out onto the bustling floor. There were people all about, walking, talking, laughing. Some wore suits, others wore t-shirts that said recruit across it, some were kitted out in full tactical gear with white bold letters Strike written on their chest.
People parted ways as Sam weaved through them, nodding their greetings to him as he led you towards the gorgeous glass walled conference room. Everything on this floor was sleek, glass and looked state of the art. And in the conference room sat Steve Rogers who immediately got to his feet when he saw you walk in with Sam.
Opening the door to the conference room, Sam lets you step in first and shuts the door behind him.
“Ma’am.” Steve greets you formally as if he wasn’t on a more friendly level with you anymore.
“Hi Steve.”
“What uh what are you doing here?” He asked, glancing at Sam momentarily.
“I need to see Bucky.” You replied
“Is everything okay?” Steve asked.
“Yes. I just need to talk to him.” Beginning to feel a little frustrated having to answer the same line of questioning again.
Steve nods at Sam and then Sam walks out of the conference room, leaving you alone with Steve. He gestures to one of the leatherback chairs and you take a seat down, looking around at the room and the people milling about in the hallway.
“Do you want something to drink?” Steve asked.
“I’ll take a shot of tequila if you’re offering.” You joked, and his face faltered for a moment.
“Uhh we can arrange that if you need…” He started saying.
“Steve, I’m kidding.” You shrugged.
“Oh…”
“Yeah.” you muttered, looking down at your hands and nervously wringing them. This waiting was making this whole situation more tortuous for you. You wanted to just get it over with and see him, even though you had no idea what you were going to say. There was this inevitable pull you had towards him and you knew when you saw him, your brain would just somehow find the right words to say. It always did when you saw him.
And so you wait, patiently, nervously, with Steve Rogers in that damned conference room.
Bucky dropped onto the bench, sweat dripping down the side of his face and a thin sheen of sweat covering his bare torso and limbs. He frustratedly tossed his t-shirt to the floor and rolled his shoulders. Over the passed few weeks he had thrown himself into work, whatever anyone wanted he did it. Any mission, any  assignment, all the paperwork, he took it all. He had to occupy himself or he would go crazy from thinking about her.
It had been six weeks of torture for him. He couldn’t see her, or contact her. He tried to keep her off his mind but he couldn’t seem to do that and it frustrated him to no end. It was a frustrating conundrum but he had to deal with it, Steve gave him endless shit about it and his feelings which he had branded as unprofessional and lacking in common sense but he couldn't help how he felt.
Bucky wiped the sweat from his face with a nearby gym towel and slung it over his shoulder before getting up once more. He glanced at the clock on the wall and realized he had a briefing with Fury in a couple minutes. He hurriedly made his way back to the residents floor of the tower and a quick shower and a change of clothes later, Bucky made his way up to Fury’s office.
The elevator dinged on the landing and Bucky stepped out, tousling his damp hair as he looked at his phone. Sam was texting him meme’s again, something he never understood but found funny anyway. Chuckling as he scrolled through the group chat with him, Sam and Steve. He was so preoccupied with his phone that he didn’t notice Steve standing in the hallway with someone, Sam was there too. Both of them looking at him, waiting for him to notice them .
Steve cleared his throat and Bucky finally looked up, stopping dead in his tracks as his eyes wandered over to where Sam and Steve stood, or rather to who stood with them. She once again, quite literally took his breath away when he looked at her. Her eyes meeting his, a small smile on her face. Bucky swallowed thickly, his mouth suddenly feeling very dry and he couldn’t find the words.
“Hey Bucky.” She said softly, her voice like music to his ears as it sets his heart off racing in his chest.
The two of you sit awkwardly across from each other at one of the tables in the massive canteen. Bucky had suggested it as a place to go and talk, he didn’t know why. It made zero sense to him but you agreed to it immediately.
You walked in silence down to the bustling cafeteria and Bucky got two cups of coffee before the two of you sat down, in silence once more, just looking at each other.
“So…”
“How’s…”
You both talk at the same time.
“Sorry.” You both say in unison again.
“You go first.” Bucky said with a slight chuckle, he picked up his coffee and took a sip. Waiting for you to start talking.
“Uhm..so, I owe you an apology.” You started softly. Your eyes meet his, there’s a softness in them that sudden puts you at ease and you took a deep breath knowing it was okay to be open with him. “I’m sorry Bucky, for the way I reacted to everything. I was dealing with everything and I guess I handled it badly.”
You paused for a moment to sip your coffee, it tastes amazing for cafeteria coffee but of course it would. It was coffee made in the Avengers tower, Tony Stark probably had the coffee beans shipped from some foreign country.
“I have been trying to fix my life and I realized I was just trying to run away from it all.” You said, “I pushed you away and you were only trying to help but that doesn’t mean it makes what you did okay.”
“I was trying to protect you.” Bucky interjected.
“By controlling every aspect of my life Bucky!”
“It’s protection. You were unsafe, I won't apologize for that.” He retorted.
“It was internment.” You snorted in reply.
“Over exaggeration.” He rolled his eyes,
“Ugh, okay listen up idiot.” You snapped, “I came here to apologize for my behavior and words, but you’re being an ass.”
Bucky clenches his jaw, he wants to just blurt out his feelings for you. He feels like he is about to vomit but it’s just the fact that he is holding back his words. He wants to say it so badly, and looking at you and how pretty you still looked, sitting in front of him made him feel like his head was going to explode. He didn’t understand why he was being an asshole, it was like some self defense mechanism that was built in him.
“So apologize then.” He muttered.
“I just did.” You snapped.
“That’s all?”
“Oh my god what were you expecting?!” You exclaimed, throwing your hands in the air almost knocking your coffee over. Bucky quickly reaches out and grabs the cup before it falls over. A few passersby throwing glances at the two of you, but you both ignore them.
Bucky shrugged and shook his head, you could see he was holding back. There was something he wanted to say but he was not saying it and this was annoying you.
“Maybe a little more effort? You just show up here, after running away from it all like everything is just okay?” Bucky said. He was mentally kicking himself for even letting those words come out of his mouth, why was his stupid man brain starting an argument with you. He really needed to fix his pride, it was clearly not working in his favor right now. He sees the look on your face, and knows the verbal lashing he is about to get.
“What the fuck is your problem?” You demanded.
“I don’t know, you tell me!” He shot back.
“You know what, I’m sorry I wasted my time coming here today. Goodbye Bucky” You said through gritted teeth and shoved yourself out of your seat, leaving Bucky and the coffee at the table.
“Wait!” You hear him call out and you stopped, turning back around to face him. Crossing your arms, you watch him rise out of his seat and walk over to you. His 6’2 height towering over you, broad chest hulking beneath that black t-shirt of his. You look up at his starlight blue eyes, momentarily getting lost in them.
“Well?” You say, irritably.
“I…” He started then sighed, “I’m sorry, I’m being an ass but I don’t know how to deal with this.” He said gesturing between the two of you.
“Deal with what?”
“This thing, this...The way I feel about you.” Bucky said, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand, nervously.
“What…?” You murmured, heart suddenly thundering in your chest again. You knew you had feelings for him but you weren’t sure he felt the same way about you. Was he finally going to address it, and why suddenly when the prospect of that was real were you terrified of this.
Bucky looked at you, and stepped closer to you. “I mean, I think it’s obvious? Or maybe it’s not. I don’t know, I’m really bad at this.” He grimaced, “I don’t know where these feelings came from and I have no control over this.”
“Bucky…” You whispered, unsure why you are suddenly feeling terrified that if he kept talking you would run away.
“I know we’ve had this really shit run since the moment we met, but I feel something so strong for you and I can’t get you out of my head, I haven’t been able to since I met you. You are magnetic, I keep finding myself drawn to you. I feel like I have been waiting for you my whole life, you just walked in and unknowingly clicked everything into place for me.” Bucky paused and looked at you, his eyes searching your face for any sign of a reaction. Something that would give him an inclination of how you felt, but all he saw was shock.
“I think I’m in love with you.” Bucky blurted out.
Your eyes widened suddenly at his confession, mouth opening and moving but no words came out.
“This isn’t love.” You said, and Bucky’s face fell. “It can’t be, I ...I don’t know what...Bucky...This...we...can’t.”
“So you feel it too?” He said, he sounded hopeful.
“I do but...:”
“There should be no ‘buts’ if you feel it too!” He said suddenly gripping your hand in his. You throw a quick glance around the cafeteria, people were beginning to stare at the two of you, and you needed to get out of here.
“I can’t.” You murmured,
“Why?”
“I don’t know…”
“I love you.” Those words making your heart flip in your chest as he openly admitted it.
“Bucky,” You shook your head, why the fuck were you so scared of this. There was an undeniable magnetic pull between the two of you, you both knew this. And here he was laying his heart out for you and you were somehow unable to reciprocate.
“Do you love me?” He asked softly, his blue eyes searching your face again.
“Yes.” You murmured breathlessly.
“Well what do you want?!” Bucky demanded, his voice raising an octave.
“I don’t know!”
“What do you want Y/N?!” He repeated firmly,
“It’s not that simple Bucky!” You exclaimed, pulling your hand from his and walking away from him. Bucky sighs frustratedly and starts after you.
“Then let me simplify it for you.” He said, and without any warning, he grabs your hand and pulls you into his arms, his lips crashing against yours. There and then, in the middle of the cafeteria in front of hundreds of people, James Buchanan Barnes kissed you breathless and you let him.
Bonnie & Clyde (5) - Baekhyun
Tumblr media
Part 1/ 2 / 3 / 4
Summary: “ Sometimes I look away But it isn’t easy I know, I know everything In front of me, you pretend to not “
genre:  mafia/gang au! , very angst , some fluff
warnings: violence, cursing
word-count: 3.9K
A/N: I know it took a few weeks, but I had tests and now I’m on vacation but then I was lazy and well, but HERE I AM, and I know there’s like a bunch of Taehyung in this but you guys asked and it was vital for the story so yeah, don’t hate me.
Your brain didn't actually register what had happened until a few seconds later.
You attempted to find the wound in yourself unsuccessfully, and then saw it. You yelped in pain, went straight to the man on the ground, and made the foolish decision to try standing up once more.
"What happens to someone when they get shot?"
He seemed to think for a while before answering "For starters, when a bullet enters your body, your flesh absorbs a great deal of the momentum the bullet was carrying.... Say a 9mm bullet, which is typically fired from handguns used for self-defense and by police, travels at a speed of about 900 mph. All that momentum has to go somewhere, so the bullet transfers it to your body, causing it to expand and create a large cavity, then falling back in on itself."
You seemed to shiver at the idea as he continued "That tremor can cause serious damage to your organs and tissues, even if the bullet doesn’t actually hit them. ..It’s possible to survive being shot, multiple times even, but it largely comes down to the path those bullets take."
You remember this chat you had with Baekhyun less than a week ago and it made your heart clench as you felt tears down your face and it seemed hard to breathe at every second that passed.
You didn't hear anything else going on in that room, all that arrived to your ears was the sensation of hearing your heart beats followed by an impression that everything on your body was lighter, easier to carry or drained from any source of energy.
You were sure you were panicking in the mid of so much blood. Before your low blood pressure got you fainting, you tried to inhale and exhale so you could do anything other than feel darkness overcome you.
You looked around and didn't see your brother nor Chanyeol or Sehun around, you could hear the main room was very agitated. Suddenly you realized some strangers were getting Baekhyun somewhere else and you tried to voice out your frustration when the still injured Taehyung helped you get up and told you not to worry too much because Baekhyun will be alright.
"Who are these people?" You asked with a whisper as your eyes still focused on the path the men took Baekhyun to.
"They're with me, don't worry"
"Don't worry?... I think I might have killed him oh my god" you felt the need to sob again and you were feeling a sharp pain on your head.
"Hey, look at me", Taehyung placed his hands on your shoulders directing your line of vision directly to him, he looked like a mess, you didn't even know how he managed to get up, and to think that only a couple of hours ago you were being stared at by the same eyes, both of you looking impeccably neat. Comparing to now where you probably looked like a crazy person, make-up ruined, messy hair and he had bruises everywhere it could be seen.
"You can't panic right now, okay? He's in safe hands, trust me"
"Why should I?"
"You were going to save me anyways, weren't you? You almost hurt yourself in the process if it wasn't for Baekhyun"
At the sound of his name you felt your heart scatter one more time and you thought for a second if you should have listened to everyone around you and killed the guy before you. "This wasn't about you! It was about me killing someone, I can't do it, no one is allowed to take someone else's life like that"
He nodded and took his hands off of your shoulders now that he had your attention "I wasn't planning on stopping you" he had a hand on his neck and seemed thoughtful of what to say "I even thanked for a second there that I would die by someone who seems to be good at heart... like I wanted to be"
You frowned at his statement and your defensive nature took over you "look I don't know what you want from me, but I know basically nothing about my brother's activities, believe me, I've been trying to learn about it for a while now and I couldn't, so if you want information, I'm not the one to ask, I'll just manage to go somewhere and-"
"What? No no, Y/n, what are you talking about?" He shook his head in frustration and continued "just let me return the favor now okay? I know we don't know each other but I'm guessing you want to keep Baekhyun company, right? And unless you want to face everyone back at the main room looking like that, I'd suggest you follow me to the other way out"
You let out a sigh as you realized he was right, and well at least it seemed like you were free from your brother per now. "Alright, but I'm doing this for Baekhyun", you said as you followed a limping Taehyung.
"I know", he said, following by a hiss of pain. "Hey, lean on me, or else the party will be over by the time we find the way out", you say as you beckoned him to accept your help.
"Thank you, again"
"How did you manage to get those guys to pick up Baekhyun just now?", you asked as he pointed you somewhere you haven't realized was there the first time you walked through this hall.
"Have you heard of this thing called a phone?" He says as he takes out a phone out of his pocket. "I think you didn't hear me call since you were crying so much, they were already at the party with me but the one time we separated was when I went to talk to you and then on my way back your friends caught me, I wasn't able to signal them before because well, first I was being beaten up and then I had a gun pointed to my head so"
"I get it" you say as you find yourself out of the building. Finally, after almost 10 days you felt the breeze of the air again, you've always had a thing for the wind and how it soothed your soul for a few seconds.
"Holy shit, what the hell happened to you?" A tall man wearing a suit approached you two and asked before looking at you, a questioning look on his face all along.
"I'll be fine, I got caught and beaten up"
"Yeah I can see that, I told you it wasn't the brightest idea to come"
"How could we not? There aren't that many chances to check the crime scene of the country all together in one place"
The guy whose name you didn't know looked agitated as he said "stop stop! We should have this talk later, there's someone else here", he side-eyed you as a signal to Taehyung.
"Don't worry about that, she saved my life"
"Still" Taehyung's friend was quick to answer.
That's when Taehyung added that you were sister of the, quote, "most powerful criminal in the country"
If he thought that would tranquilize his friend, boy was he wrong? The tall stranger had an expression of shock mixed with anger as he asked "What? Did they beat you up that much that you've lost your mind? Taehyung, even if she saved your life as you claim, you can't trust one of them!"
"Excuse me!" You said to the man in front of you, you were tired, traumatized and worried, you did not have the time for this. "I'm not 'one of them', you'd be surprised to know I'm probably his biggest victim, and I had no obligation of saving your friend but I did anyways, and even got someone that I care about hurt in the process because of that, so before you bluntly accuse someone in their face, check your facts first" You let out a sigh as he seemingly tried to think of words to say.
In the meantime, you looked at a surprised Taehyung and asked "can we go see Baekhyun already? I can't stop thinking about him..."
"Yes! Yes of course", he then directed himself to his friend "Namjoon, could you give us a ride?"
"Yes, of course, but don't you want to clean yourself up first or something of sorts? That goes for the both of you"
"We'll do that there", Taehyung answered and his friend nodded, offering his shoulder so that Taehyung would lean on him instead.
They both walked ahead of you in direction to a black car.
You seated on the back as both of them seated on the front.
You took that moment of silence on the ride to stop and think about what was happening, Baekhyun's state being your main concern, followed by who you were surrounded with right now and how trustworthy could they be? And your brother... could he possibly just let you and Baekhyun go like that? Maybe he already had someone onto you, maybe he hoped Baekhyun was dead already, after years of pursuing your every move, you highly doubt that he would let you out free, especially after all you've witnessed these last few weeks.
The silence of the car died down as the two people seated on the front were having a mild discussion about which radio station to tune in, you rolled your eyes as they spent a good 10 minutes going back and forth between stations, until eventually the car came to a stop.
Namjoon turned to ask "do you think we'll get in trouble if we come in with her?", Taehyung stopped his movements midway of exiting the car to answer "you know who I asked the guys to bring here because he got shot?... Byun Baekhyun"
"What?" He exclaimed back at him, "and her brother let you?"
"He didn't even bat an eye", Taehyung answered. "So, believe me, the department will be too busy with him"
"Right", Namjoon nodded with some hesitancy on his features.
That talk was making your insides turn in anxiety and you had to butt in "what do you mean? What are you going to do with him? You-"
"Nothing more than what he deserves...", you hear Namjoon mumble.
Before you have another argument with him, Taehyung interfered "nothing y/n! I meant it with what I said ,hm?" He tried to give you a reassuring glance. "Let's go see him now, you'll see he is fine"
His friend rolled his eyes and pleaded "Just don't make a fuss since you both look like you've just murdered someone, and you go see a doctor, you're clearly injured"
You were all out of the car and you saw yourself facing a 4-floor high building, as you walked past the door you saw from the corner of your eye the special forces symbol on the building's façade and something about it made you feel as if you were getting into a trap, maybe the criminal senses were getting to you.
"Wait wait, let's go to the left", Taehyung encouraged you as you've gone through the main entrance.
You nodded and followed, you both walked through a rather empty and abandoned looking area where they stored old gadgets, mostly early 2000's looking computers. Namjoon seemed to take the main entrance pathway as he wasn't anywhere else in sight after you got in.
You walked straight ahead until you heard some steps and people talking, you both walked through an exit until you found yourself in an infirmary.
"Oh My God honey, what happened to you? What did they do to you?", an older looking woman approached Taehyung and held him in her embrace "I told you to be careful, you just won't listen to me, will you? And the boy that got shot? What are you now? Some sort of James Bond? I don't like this", Taehyung laughed as he heard the woman's complains, as she turned around to get the first aid kit and asked him to sit down on one of the nearby infirmary beds, she finally took notice of you awkwardly standing a few feet away and her look of concern seemed to reappear as she visually examined your state.
"Tae, who is this poor girl?" She took a few steps closer to you, "Are you injured, sweetie? Oh God, sit here too, I'll get you some water "
"I'm alright, just looking dirty that's all, no need to worry about me ma'am" you reassured her "Taehyung really is injured though so he needs care"
"So, you're his friend?", she asked as she gave you a wet towel so you could clean some of the dry blood on your skin.
"Hm.." Unsure of what to say, you went with the easiest answer "we met tonight, actually"
"She saved my life, Flora" Taehyung added and the older lady gasped in admiration and hugged you "Jesus Christ thank God someone sent a guardian angel for this boy, thank you sweetie", you looked at Taehyung for help and you saw him spot a little smile at the scene in front of him.
"Ma'am", you said still engulfed in her hug, "oh no! Call me Flora, please" she asked of you and you gave her a little smile and a nod in return "Flora, you talked about the boy that was shot, do you know anything about his state? He's a close acquaintance of mine"
"I helped him, yes, he is miraculously fine, the bullet didn't make straight contact with any vital parts and they were able to get off of him very quickly, he did lose a good amount of blood, so I believe he'll need to stay here for a while to recover from the lost"
Your whole body seemed to relax at her words, he was fine, Baekhyun is fine, you didn't kill him by accident, you didn't kill anyone, much less the guy you feared you had more than a few intense feelings about, you'd be listening to his voice , you'd see his annoying smug and feel his reassuring embrace soon.
"Is he perhaps awaken by now?" You asked, to which she answered "I don't think he is right now sweetie, but I'm sure he will be in a few hours"
"Oh, do you mind if I wait here? or maybe nearby where he is placed?"
"I think I can get you access, yes, although this one", she pointed at Taehyung, "will have a lot of explaining to do", she turned back at you and continued "it's not every night this place gets so agitated, you know?"
"Don't you want some clean clothes first, sweetie? I understand this is a gorgeous dress but-"
"Oh, I don't want to bother"
"No, please, it's a little less suspicious to walk around a special forces department without blood on your dress... we have some plain, washed clothes here, it is no bother at all"
"I understand" you say as she gets you a clean stack of greyish clothes and points you the direction to where you can change and the directions to where Baekhyun is located.
"Thank you" you nod to her and tell Taehyung to rest well.
After changing clothes and following Flora's directions, you got to the door that led to the room Baekhyun was in, you assumed he was in a different room due to the gravity of his situation and luckily no one else was in there besides you two when you got in.
Seeing Baekhyun laying down on a hospital bed broke your heart but also soothed it, just knowing that he is well and for once you were out of your brother's sight for a while made you ponder about if this situation was actually what was necessary for you two to become free of your sibling's psychotic domain.
You gently caressed his hair and held onto his hands before you sat down on a chair nearby and waited for his awaken.
You were sure that almost two hours had gone by and no changes were made to your current scenario, your anxiety was kicking in as you worried about Baekhyun's actual state.
Someone gave two soft knocks on the door before getting in.
It was Taehyung, without his suit this time but with an added crutch next to his body to help upon his walking. "Hey, is he up yet?"
You shake your head and ask "should I be worried?"
"Hm, I don’t think so, Flora said it could take a few hours, right? She's the best around here, trust her"
"She's really cute" you say, remembering the sweet old lady that has just helped you.
"Yea, she's family to me" he says with a smile on his face.
"And were you too damaged? From the beating, I mean?"
"Nothing too bad, I should use this for a couple of days", he lifts up the crutch. "I'm bummed about my handsome face though, this will take at least a week to look presentable"
You let out a huff at his comment and commented "guess you won't be able to block other girls' at parties for a while"
"Contrary to your belief, I don't usually do this, my focus is always very clear"
"Why come at me, then?" You asked
"I told you, you looked too good and I've never seen someone asking for directions to the bathroom to one of the security in these type of events, it was the most genuine thing I've saw since I started attending those" he answered sounding sincere.
"So, you liked that I was embarrassing?", you concluded.
"No, I liked your sense of normality"
You nodded and decided not to think too much of his words before asking "so, are you in trouble? Because of this whole fuss of taking Baekhyun here and all?..and me"
"Oh hm, yea we, we need to talk about some things" he said with some hesitancy on his voice and diverted his gaze from you, seeming to be thinking about what he was going to say next.
"Is there a problem?", you asked him before you noticed his gaze wasn't around the room anymore but focused on the hospital bed instead.
You saw Baekhyun move his head a couple of times and murmur something, your attention was fully back on him. "Baek? It's me"
He slowly opened his eyes and seemed to take a few seconds to recognize you.
"Y/n...? Oh God", he hissed in pain.
"How are you feeling? You asked as you took his hand.
"I'm in a little bit of pain."
"Do you remember what happened?"
"Yes, yes of course, are you alright? You didn't get hurt, did you?"
"No, I'm completely fine Baek... God I was so worried about you"
Baekhyun is silence for a while and you follow his gaze till Taehyung, who was still standing in the room. "What is he doing here? This is all his fault"
Taehyung rolls his eyes and says "what a great way to salute someone who helped you"
"Helped me? You're the reason I'm on this bed for starters, if you weren't an imbecile and got caught"
"Hey hey, if it's anyone's fault it is mine, okay?", you intervened before this became an argument. "And he did help you, Baek"
"I'm glad that at least they caught you, prick, now at least you'll get what you' deserve for being a traitor" Baekhyun said and you realized he probably assumed you were somewhere within your brother's properties.
"I'm done with this, y/n, we'll talk later", Taehyung said with gritted teeth and exited through the door.
You turned around to Baekhyun and tried to give him the news in the most gentle way possible "Baek...they, you, my brother didn't get him at all, we're not really near my brother right now..."
"What? Where is he, then?"
"I have no idea"
"What did you two do to him?"
"What? Baekhyun, nothing! We did nothing"
"Well there's no way he'd go down by himself, and that guy works with the police and you hate your brother so it wouldn't be hard for you to-"
"Baekhyun, he fled. He didn't even bother after you took the shot for me, he just disappeared, I have no idea where he went, but I'm pretty sure he didn't try to save you"
You saw Baekhyun's shock at your revelation as he said "there's no way y/n, he probably got stopped by someone he wouldn't let me go like that"
"Well, he did"
"There's something wrong then, I am certain"
"Seriously, where does this sickly obsession comes from?", you ask in horror of him being more worried over this.
"It's called loyalty. You have no idea of what he has done to me in the past, I owe him everything"
"Jesus, can't you just appreciate the fact that you're alive and well now? I thought I had lost you" You said in exasperation.
"Y/n...where the hell are we , then?", he ignored what you've just said and chose to ask.
"I'm not 100% sure but some special forces department, I don't know, Taehyung's colleagues took you here a-"
"Wait, what? Are you fucking kidding me?"
"….no?"
"I'm, I'm gonna get fucking arrested y/n" he paused, "we have to go back to your brother", he tried to reach for the side table, possibly hoping to find his phone.
"Baekhyun, you're not getting arrested!"
"How would you possibly know that? You think your new friend is gonna protect us? That guy has more sides than anyone you've known back at your family, fuck, he's probably going to get you arrested too if we don't get out of here in time"
"No one is going to get us arrested, listen to me! Can't you trust me for one second?"
"Apparently, I can't, because you're fucking stupid, you don't know how these things work, alright? These people" - he pointed at the door- "want my head on a stick"
You felt your heart scattering at his words and behavior, of course he would act like that, he'd only be nice to you when it suited him, he'd never want out of this life, he'd never be happy about being free with you, his feelings are not that strong and you've realized how stupid you were because he caught you on his little act again.
"You know what? you do deserve to get arrested, and maybe I'll even help with the investigation, since I'm that fucking stupid, you shouldn't worry too much, should you?"
You walked to the door and heard your name being called by him when you slammed the door shut, you tried to fight the tears coming out of your eyes and hurried to the nearest bathroom before anyone could see you.
You tried to look away but deep down you knew you were not made to be together, it isn't easy to admit but if you wanted to take down your brother, the guy who killed your mother, who made you live in fear for years before giving his last master strike and break your heart introducing that guy in your life, you knew you'd have to take down Baekhyun too.
A/N: That’s it for the day, reading it, I feel like last chapter was better but I think this is alright, I hope you didn’t get too dissapointed , tell me your thoughts and concerns babes <3
A reaction is coming up soon!
First Encounters - 2p!America/Allen F. Jones
((This is my first post and it was originally going to involve a drabble for each ally, but... I got carried away with Al. Whoops~ Maybe I’ll do more in the future. It’s not as ‘yandere’ as it could be, but it’s just a first encounter. Gotta let the crazy build up, you know?))
He first ran into s/o late one Halloween night.
   It had been an eventful night for him, as shown by his shiny black eye and busted lip. Most people he passed thought nothing of his appearance, which was fine. Al didn’t need any attention. All he wanted was to get home, clean himself up, and then hit the sack.    As he walked down the street, he passed a bar bustling with cheerful drunkards all dressed in costumes. One of those drunkards was s/o, their face painted like a cat with a headband sporting simple cat ears. They were totally wasted as they staggered outside and collided with Al. “’Eyyy,” they slurred, “watch wer’ ‘yer goin’.”    Al didn’t want to deal with anyone, let alone a drunk. He was too tired as it was. But as he tried to walk away, s/o suddenly grabbed his arm and held him in place. “What the hell?” He tried to pull his arm away, but stopped when he saw how fixated they were on his face.    S/o stood still for only a few seconds before pointing at his face, their finger nearly poking him in the eye. “You’re hurt!” they exclaimed. “That’s not make-up-” they lowered their finger to his bleeding lip “-neither’s that!”    Al waved their hand away, trying to establish distance to no avail. “It’s none of your business.” When he finally freed his arm from s/o’s grasp, he fixed his jacket and... noticed tears welling in their eyes. Unsure of how to react, he asked, “What the fuck is your problem now?” There was nothing graceful about the waterfalls streaming down their face or the snot running from their nose. When they tried to wipe the fluids away, s/o only created a bigger mess. It didn’t help when they started to sob. “Hey, quit it! Come on, nobody likes a sad drunk!”    “I’m sorry,” they blubbered, still trying to wipe their leaky eyes. “It’s just, I don’t like seeing people get hurt. It makes me so sad.” As if turning a faucet, more tears poured down their reddened cheeks, now causing their face paint to run.    Al was familiar with a handful of drunk archetypes, but s/o was the first of their kind - the overly-caring drunk - to ever show such interest in him. It was flattering, and almost cute. But the constant crying was starting to get on his nerves.    It was more in hopes of smothering their sobs, but he enveloped s/o in a hug. At first, it was awkward, but Al soon found comfort holding them in his arms. It was like fitting two pieces of a puzzle together - just right. Maybe they felt the same, as their blubbering stopped and they turned silent.    “Better?” Al waited for their response, which was only a little nod, before pulling away.    S/o looked confused, perhaps a little shaken, but then their expression turned thoughtful. When they met eyes with Al again, they asked, “Could you just... bend down for a sec?” S/o gestured with their hand, as if tempting him with a secret. When Al finally did as they asked, they grabbed his head on either side and placed a quick, feather-light kiss upon his black eye. After pulling away, there was a goofy grin on their face. “Are you cured now?”    It took a second for Al to gather his bearings before he managed an amused smirk. “Yep, all better.” He closed the distance a bit, placing his hands on their hips to pull them closer. “Thanks, kitten.”    A person wearing a black cloak poked their head out the front door of the bar, scanning left to right until they caught sight of s/o. “S/o! I’ve been looking all over for you!” They marched over and grabbed their hand, pulling them away from Al. They were noticeably more sober than s/o, but still possessed a red tint across their face. “Why are you out here? You’re supposed to stay with the group-! Oh jeez, you look awful. Were you crying?” The friend immediately shot a glare at Al, but s/o was quick to intervene.    “I was helpin’ someone!” All eyes fell on Al the minute s/o gestured towards him. “He was hurt, so I had cured ‘im.”    S/o’s friend sighed. “Sorry, please forgive them. They’re very drunk.” They began leading s/o back towards the bar, but was pulled to a halt as s/o dug their feet into the sidewalk.     “Wait! I forgot somethin’!” They pulled away from their friend and ran back to Al in order to give him a chaste kiss on his lips. It seemed to startle both parties, though Al had no qualms with the action. His only problem was how quickly it ended. S/o then turned back to their friend, seemingly unaware of the blood smeared across their lips. “I almost forgot t’ cure ‘s lip.”    Before Al had a chance to respond, s/o’s friend grabbed them and dragged them away. “That was so gross! What if he’s got some sort of disease?! God, I can’t believe you!” They continued scolding them for their naiveté until the two of them disappeared into the bar.    Now was Al’s chance to finally head home and rest, but he couldn’t move. He didn’t feel like heading home anymore, because there was something much more interesting in the bar than at home.    “This looks like the start of something interesting.”
“I wanna dieee.”    “That’s what you get for drinking so much last night.”    S/o was lying in bed, talking to their friend over the phone while battling a massive headache. The only think worse than the pain were the embarrassing stories s/o’s friend was telling them.    “And then you just disappeared all of a sudden. We were all freaking out ‘cause no one knew where the hell you were, so while everyone was inside looking for you, I went outside and found you getting up close and personal with some stranger on the street.”    S/o groaned. “Are you serious?”    Their friend laughed. “Yeah, and the guy was some badass thug. He looked like he’d just got out of a brawl or something. And you know what?” When s/o didn’t respond, their friend said, “As I was trying to save your ass, you ran back to him and kissed him!”    “I did what?!”    “And then, when you turned around, you had blood all over your lips! It was so gross!”    S/o buried their face into their pillow and screamed. When they finished, they asked, “Okay, now I really wanna die.”    “Don’t worry about it,” assured their friend, “no one else saw you, and I doubt you’ll ever see that guy again. It’s all good.”    There was no curing the weight of embarrassment that would linger in the back of s/o’s mind forever, but the reassurance was nice. “Thanks,” they muttered into the phone. “Okay, I’m gonna see if I can sleep my hangover away.”    “Good luck with that.”     After a quick goodbye, s/o hung up and shifted into a more comfortable position. As they began to close their eyes, their phone buzzed. It sounded like a text.    “Whyyy...” S/o grabbed their phone, discovering a text from an unknown number. As they read the message, their heart sank.    : Morning, kitten. I bet you’ve got a wicked headache this morning. Anyway, I had fun last night. Your kisses worked miracles on my wounds, especially my lip. I might need some more~ I’ll see you around. :    S/o stared at the message, reading it over and over until it finally sunk in. “How the hell did he get my number?!”
The past few weeks had been one bad night after the next, and everyone knew it wasn’t going to end well. The idea was doomed from the start, and the second Sam took on the Trials it was was over before it begun.
He was deteriorating, that much was clear. Slowly but surely the man you loved was falling apart, and there was nothing you could do to stop it. He would try to hide it, or deny it whenever someone asked, but he was breaking down.
It wasn’t just Sam’s mental state that was deteriorating, you could physically see how the trials were affecting him. His face was sunken in, he was losing weight, and, as much as he tried to cover it up, you knew he was exhausted.
You needed him to stop the Trials, to stop doing that to himself, but he’d never listen. He wouldn’t even talk about them aloud, and whenever you tried to get him to he’d either change the subject or insist he was okay when he wasn’t.
You, him and Dean had been laying low in the bunker until Chuck translated the next tablet, and Sam would be able to tear himself a part a little more. Life had been pretty generic since the three of you stopped hunting, and the quiet was making everyone’s skin crawl.
That morning had started just as any other, with you and Dean making coffee. The two of you worked in tandem, heating water, adding in the powdered mix, and pouring milk or sugar in a rhythm you’d gotten used to over the past few weeks. Sam was sitting at the kitchen table, leaning back in a chair reading some book you couldn’t pronounce the name of. But it was all an act, he probably wasn’t even reading the words- just keeping up the illusion of normalcy and hiding the chaos going on inside him.
He’d made breakfast about a half hour before, scrambling eggs and frying up bacon as if nothing was wrong. But you knew judging from how many shells were in your breakfast and how long it had taken him to cook a simple meal that he was in trouble. Be it pride or just him not wanting to worry you, but Sam wouldn’t admit or even acknowledge the fact that he was deteriorating.
“Here, babe,” You said as you reached down to hand him a cup of coffee, black with nothing added in whatsoever and completely bitter.
“Thanks,” He replied, reaching up to give you a quick kiss on the cheek before you sat down beside him.
A few moments passed until Dean stirred up a conversation about Bobby, and how he was doing. Apparently he was planning on visiting soon, as soon as he could get a break. But all three of you knew that basically meant never, “as soon as I can get around to it” was all but hunter’s code for “sorry, it’s not going to happen”.
Because that was the messed up thing about being a hunter: once you were in, you could never get out again. Hunting consumed everyone who tried it and lived to tell the tail, just like it had consumed you. The plan had been for you and Sam to quit the life about two years ago, but, of course, that hadn’t ended up happening. And now Sam was, once again, sacrificing himself for the greater good, and you were scared that this time you really were going to lose him.
“I’m gonna get a sweatshirt, it’s freezing in here.” Sam stated as he stood up, rubbing his hands together in the mid morning chill, and started to head for the room the two of you shared.
“Okay, babe.” You said as he left, turning to your coffee and taking a long sip- it was cold as hell in the bunker. It really shouldn’t have been, being as it was the middle of March in Kansas, but the heat must have been broken, because it was freezing in there.
Thankfully you were already wearing one of Sam’s sweatshirts, your favorite one actually. It was from Stanford and the material on the inside was somehow still soft- which was miraculous considering how often you wore it. Like all of Sam’s clothing it was enormous on you, and hung well past your hips, but you loved it nonetheless.
Neither you or Dean thought anything of it when Sam took a few minutes to return from his room, not until you heard a crash. You dropped your mug and ran into the hallway, to find Sam leaning against the wall, a shattered vase and broken table on the floor to his left. Oh god, you thought, he must have stumbled into it.
“What happened?!” You felt your panic begin to rise as you rushed to his side, but he just brushed you off.
“Babe, I’m fine, it’s okay. I just, uh, lost my balance, babe I promise I’m okay.” He assured you, his eyes darting around your face as if he couldn’t decide where to focus them.
He looked insane, he truly did. His face was sunken and his eyes bloodshot, and it was still early in the day. You had no idea how whatever the hell these Trials were doing to him was going to progress, and it scared the shit out of you.
“Sammy, I swear to god, get back in bed right now.” You threatened him and Dean gave a nod of agreement. He didn’t put up much of a fight, because you gave a look promising death if he didn’t listen, and let you put your arms around him and lead him into your room.
The bed was still unmade from the night before, because neither of you particularly loved getting up to make it, and the room was dark. Sam groaned as he lay down, and you saw from the grimace on his face that he was fighting off so, so, much pain.
“You know you’re kind of mean when I’m sick,” He joked and winced at the bed’s movement as you lay down next to him, tucking your head into the crook of his neck.
“Yeah well you’re annoying when you’re sick,” You mumbled, pressing your lips to his shoulder as he gave a dry chuckle in return.
Moments of silence passed before you dared to say what was really on your mind, “I’m worried about you.”
He went rigid, and you knew he was going to try and change the subject, or insist that he was okay. “Babe, I’m fine, I promise.”
And there it was, that tell-tale lie he’d gotten so used to spewing whenever you wanted an explanation. But you weren’t going to let him waste away without at least talking to you about it, “Sammy that’s bullshit! Please, please, don’t give me bullshit.”
From the look he gave you as your voice broke, you knew he was going to give you a straight answer this time, “(Y/N), I’m worried too. I-I don’t know what’s going to happen, nobody does. But you know why I have to do it, (Y/N), you know why.”
And you did, you knew all too well why he put everything on himself. It was because he thought he was some sort of monster, no better than the things he hunted. It was ironic because he was one of the most kindhearted people you knew, but Sam did have a dark side to him.
He blamed himself for every hunt gone wrong, every single person who got caught in the crossfire of your line of work. He knew all of their names, and sometimes would even wake up yelling them in the middle of the night, coated in a cold sweat. You’d only known him for a few years, and hadn’t hunted as long as him, so you could only imagine all of the shit he’d seen in his lifetime. And despite your best efforts to convince him that he was good, that he was one of the good guys, you knew he’d always harbor that blame on himself.
“Sam you’re not a bad person.”
He closed his eyes tight, and shifted in the bed before responding, “Yes, (Y/N), yes I am.”
“No you’re not! Sam I don’t know how else to say it, but you’re good, I promise you, you’re good.” You shook your head back and forth, completely bewildered. How could you convince him that he was wrong? And if you did, would he stop the Trials and go back to normal?
“There are things you don’t know about.” He responded
“Then tell me, Sam! Tell me what you think is so bad and I’ll listen!” You urged him to go on, but he just fell silent; his eyes cast down at the bed and a look of shame on his face.
So you left it at that. You could tell from the way he reacted that he didn’t want to talk anymore, so you just snuggled into him and watched as he fell asleep- his labored breathing the only sound in the room. But you hadn’t changed your mind, in fact, you’d had a realization. If Sam refused to stop the Trials, then you’d just take them on yourself.
It would be easier that way, and you had less to lose anyway. While he had Dean and an entire network of hunters who would miss him, you had nobody. Save for him and Dean, you were alone in the world, and that was okay. You weren’t connected like they were because you weren’t born into the life, the death of your parents had forced you into it. So everything would be okay, and you’d already made up your mind. It was your turn to give back to the man who’d self sacrificed so many times on your behalf, it was your turn to save Sam.
You’d wait until he fell asleep, sneak out of the bunker and find a hellhound to kill. Whatever bullshit reasons Sam had for completing the Trials himself were wrong, so completely wrong, but yours weren’t. You weren’t a good person, and in your life as a hunter you’d done so many unspeakable things. So maybe closing the gates of Hell was the way to go. Maybe it would make up for the rest of the bad you’d done, and just maybe it would clear your conscious once and for all.
