Hi everyone! Welcome to Project Lighthouse. We are here to bring you fic recommendations with the express purpose of encouraging readers to engage with fics and their authors. We believe there are so many great fics out there that don't always make it to a rec list, and we know that reader engagement can be so impactful on enjoyment and participation in fandom.

Project Lighthouse

Lisa Diamond is a developmental-health psychologist at the University of Utah who has done some very important studies of LGBTQ mental health. She is working with Scout (Director of the National LGBTQIA+ Cancer Network) to launch a first-of-its kind effort to track the effects of the upcoming US election on LGBTQ+ individuals and their loved ones, as they unfold in the coming months. Because we’re living through an unprecedented historical moment, and we’ll need evidence to address its consequences. The inclusion of family members is a unique part of the study -- our partners, parents, children, siblings, and chosen family are all affected by what’s happening, and we need their voices, too.

Why is it called Project Lighthouse? Because lighthouses provide navigation in uncertain and dangerous waters. Right now, the waters have never been more uncertain or dangerous. Let’s do what our community does best: Unite and speak up.

Once the results are in, they'll be shared immediately with advocacy organizations around the country, so they can prepare for what’s ahead.

The study has been approved by the ethics board at the University of Utah, and the protocol has been registered on the Open Science Framework, to ensure scientific transparency and integrity. The survey is short, confidential, and available in Spanish and English – the anonymous survey link cannot be tracked.

Now that I've got Sanctum Novis a bit more fleshed out, I think that adds a little bit of quiet tragedy to Lighthouse's character arc/backstory.

Here you have a tech priest who feels so stifled by the dogma of the Cult Mechanicum and the inability to truly study and understand that her feelings of impotence, fear, and isolation fester so long that they turn to an all-consuming rage so potent that it gets Khorne's attention.

And there was a place for her.

Lighthouse didn't have to be drawn to Chaos. He could've had a home, but he was trapped and had no choice but to chew his foot off in order to get out of the snare
