Day 21/October 21: Day of the Departed || Reminisce (??)

GRAHH ITS STILL THE 21ST SOMEWHERE i’m apparently using morrotober to try new things this one’s a new lineart brush that i’m sorta warming up to and the POSE and the BACKGROUND and the LIGHTING i’m surprised i finished this at all tbh. and also new morro design

bg lineart and sword vs neither plus the green ghost fog thing i do basically if you zoom in really really close the lines aren’t smooth on the lineless bgs but icba the pedestal can be chipped or something. i kinda like without the sword and fog cause it gives him a more isolated feel yk (that was my original idea lmao)

🐥- How are mornings for you guys?

Teruteru is, very unfortunately for me, a morning person. He's always been an up bright and early person, mostly because he loves making breakfast for the house. I like mornings just fine, but I'm a very slow riser. I spend a lot of extra time just waking up enough to stand.

But it's worth it, if I can get out of bed before Teru's done cooking I can catch him with his hair in a messy bun. Why he doesn't do that all the time is beyond me it's a very pretty look.

Sense Teruteru has to open the Hanamura family diner the routine is make breakfast, get ready while I'm still struggling to wake up, eat breakfast together, and then he's out to the door to work with no less than 3 kisses goodbye.

☁️ - Whats your nighttime routine?

I don't think there's much of a routine, not for me anyway. Teruteru has skin care and hair care and all sorts of cleansers I am not a part of because I don't like the oily/lotiony feel of any of it. I do get to brush his hair out after he's washed it though, and that's always nice. His hair's so long and he takes such good care of it.

I try to read before going to sleep, Teru likes to be snuggly as possible, very kissy. Hard to read with the cutest man alive wrapped around you kissing at your neck, truth be told.

Not related to nighttime routines but Teruteru does have nightmares occasionally. Jolt awake in the middle of the night terrified nightmares. It doesn't happen a lot, but it happen usually when we've wiggled away from eachother in the night, which also doesn't happen often.

He tells me about what happened in the dream, he writes it down sometimes, I really just have to be there for him. Hold his hand, kiss him, let him know I'm here and he's safe now and it'll be okay. I don't think he always believes me, I'm not very good at comforting others, but by the next morning he's over it and back to his cheery self, making breakfast in a cut messy hair bun.

i dont really understand riordans decision to write these fanfic-esque books of cute little adventures, and refuse to let percy grow up. he's created a world where nearly every character could not imagine surviving a few days down the line. there's an incredibly rich potential to develop camp jupiter/new rome, thru the eyes of a new college kid or even short stories. I get percy + annabeth are popular, but the current versions have nothing on the orig series. but there is so much room for development that ISN'T percy. hunters book, roman prequels, chb / new rome short stories, party ponies guide, olympian povs, underworld etc etc. there's so many stories that can be told (thalia, calypso, jason, reyna, octavian, hazel, piper, nico... To name a few) but theyre stuck in stasis. and i am not someone who would jump to new gen, but holy shit would a new gen do wonders for the series, seeing the effects and details of being an adult demigod, diving into legacies, updating the camps (and having appropriate pop cultural references), seeing their combination efforts.... idgaf about silena luke charlie sally jackson-chase ii, BUT i cant act like it wouldn't add texture to the world either. man hes so wack fr

hey if it isn’t any trouble…as a fellow artist could you please give a little anatomy tutorial/ back tutorial? I always struggle with drawing detailed backs like how u do lol💖

i thought i had a full back but ig not.

2 fold: one practice via studies of real references, and also get urself an anatomy guide to deepen ur understanding of what muscles are interacting and why. anatomy for sculptors is a good basis because to sculp you actually need an insanely good understanding of skeletal muscular interactions.

im ngl theres just a lot but a good example is me freaking out learning that ur shoulder blades move, crying bc theres a skeleton in all of us, and then going okay ya that makes sense based on all the back pics Ive seen so far.

the book also helps you with these ‘lets identify’ bits that help you learn what to look for and build that mental model.

the repetition loop of: is what im drawing correct, no-why, correct it x 10000 is actually how u learn ig or is at least how private art classes work (where a teacher steps in and tells ur lines are wack) and u gotta figure out how to do that for urself. there is literally no other way to get better. you don’t just magically stop doing something bad without first learning what you’re doing is wrong as obvious as that sounds. (i assume ur coming to me for realism bc otherwise id say fk h8rs, follow ur heart)

as for skin, idk how to give this tutorial at all. i don’t do anything special to my knowledge. and its kind of hard to break down in my head what you might like: color, lighting, texture, something else ;-;

but at the very least for texture its just my brush (i use oil brushes)
