I LOVE this screenshot because it embodies the conversation Dream William and Chloe have about fire in Episode 2: "Don't pretend you're not mesmerized, too. You're so drawn to it, you don't even realize the danger. Fire blinds us, just like darkness. But darkness blinds with absence. With loss." Chloe: "What does fire blind with?" William: "Beauty."

If you look in the back of the screenshot above you can see that Rachel is literally standing in darkness until she lights the fire. But that's literally. Metaphorically, she is standing in the loss of trust in her Father. She is being blinded by the pain she feels toward his actions and how they have irrevocably changed the way she feels toward him.

That's why she initially light's up the photo of him and her on the mountain, and let's it burn away in a controlled flame.

But Rachel is someone who is drawn to beauty, not absence. That's why she so badly wants to escape Arcadia Bay and find what more lies out there. Because she craves light and passion, not something dark and still.

That craving is what I believe lead her to kicking over the trash can and turning a controlled flame into a raging blaze. She would rather be blinded by fire than darkness. Or in other more metaphorical yet probably more accurate words, she'd rather be blinded by beauty than absence, even if that beautiful light is just as a smokescreen hiding a dark night behind it.

random thought but i love the idea of Herobrine being less of an explicitly evil character and more of a weird cryptid thing that exists by accident and can only be perceived at long FOV distances by humans, forever being sort of isolated from the rest of them to only be seen partially obscured by the fog. he physically exists, but can only be perceived as though he were a ghost. he's very curious about other humans, watching over them as they traverse the world, but he means no harm. this can often look like stalking behaviour which can freak other humans out and make him seem menacing or off putting. scrambled throughout the world are legends and scriptures written about this mysterious being that make him out to be terrifying and threatening. warnings, spells and summoning rituals are seen scratched across the walls of ancient catacombs and ruined civilisations. locked inside dusty chests are torn and withered parchments scribbled with illustrations that depict him to be some sort of monstrous eldritch creature, perhaps mistaking something more terrifying for the legends of the strange man all should beware that have persisted for centuries. others depict him more as a silent, stalking shadowed figure, lurking behind trees and mountains with unknown intentions.

the only reason he exists is because of a strange bug that causes a duplicate of the main player to generate along with the world, and no matter how many times the developers of Minecraft try to remove him, he always quietly comes back somehow, implying that the rules of the game they created has developed into its own ecosystem that is slowly developing its own independence separate from the game, and that Herobrine is an integral part of it. he might possibly be a remnant of an ancient experiment or society that has long since disappeared, but for whatever reason, Herobrine still persists.

Dethvanity is really funny to me conceptually as an episode because you can see how little they had to make the characters insecure about for the bit. They swing for obvious lowblow choices with Pickle' baldness and Nathan's weight and even those require some suspension of disbelief because ok. Sure. Nathan '(said extremely proudly) never skipped a meal in my life!' Explosion is insecure about being a big man now. Nathan *guy who everyone thinks is smoking hot 99% of the time* Explosion is a tiny bit larger than usual and is insecure about it now. Lol. Lmao even.

But anyway then we hit Skwisgaar and Toki and there's like NOTHING to swing for, you can see them going uhhh ok Skwis doesn't sleep he probably drinks a lot of coffee, and Toki?
