Baela and Addam were floating over the dance floor - her a dream in white and him in a very handsome navy suit - their first dance as a married couple. Your heart was full as you watched them dance to the song they had picked over a year ago when they first started planning the wedding. You took a shaky breath, suddenly realizing that tears were gathering in your eyes and you looked over your shoulder, searching for your purse you had left at somewhere on your seat.

"Tissue?"

Hearing his voice almost made the tears in your eyes disappear, but he only looked at you expectantly as he offered his handkerchief to you.

"Thanks," you answered curtly, plucking the cornflower blue handkerchief out of his hand as you soaked up the tears in your eyes with the corners of the fancy cloth. Instead of turning back to watch the dancing couple again, Jace kept his inquisitive eyes on you, his hand in his pocket. With an annoyed sigh, you glanced at him, frowning.

“What?”

Jace gave you one of his signature smirks before he replied.

“I didn’t think you were a crier.”

Leave it to Jace to be an absolute jerk at his cousin’s wedding. You rolled your eyes at him, suddenly lacking any tears.

“I’m surprised there’s any thinking going on in that head of yours.”

Jace snickered, leaning his head forward. His curls fell into his face and you would almost call him hot if you didn’t know this was Jace you were talking about.

“Same old,” he only chuckled, before looking up again. A look you couldn’t quite decipher passed over his face and he inclined his head towards the dancefloor.

“Feel like dancing?”

You furrowed your brows at him.

“Baela and Addam are still-“ your voice died down when you turned to the dancefloor, where several couples have joined. You hadn’t even noticed that the first dance was over already. Your eyes flickered back to Jace and he only offered you his hand.

“I-“

Rhaena calling your name across the venue broke you out of your reverie, your answer lost.

“Hey,” Rhaena said, grasping your wrist, breathless. “Been looking everywhere for you. Staff has a problem with the apps and I need you in the kitchen.”

Jace had already stuffed his hand back in his pocket, giving you a wink.

“Maid of honor duty calls.”

Right.

“Okay, Rhae,” you sighed, following her as Rhaena led you toward the kitchen, Jace’s invitation still burnt in your mind. The two of you had never crossed the line again after that one night, and you couldn’t help but wonder why he would even think about asking you for a dance. Not that you were gonna say no, but still. Squeezing your eyes shut, you let out a sigh.

“Wait.”

You stopped abruptly, turning over your shoulder as you looked for Jace. He was still in the spot you had left him, his back turned to you.

“Hey Targaryen!”

Jace whirled around when you called him, an eyebrow raised. Even from a distance, you could read his facial expressions so well. You looked at him for a beat, before grinning.

“Find me later for that dance.”

A grin spread over Jace’s face, and he gave a slow nod, before you turned back around, now tugging Rhaena towards the kitchen as she eyed you in amusement, but you ignored her, the same way you were ignoring the butterflies in your stomach.

Some points to note before you move to the event visualizer : 

🟣 My anchoring style is highly energetic and bubbly so you can imagine me doing a lot of hand gestures, changing pitch and tones of my voice, moving around on the stage a lot, etc. Hehe.  

🟣 The theatre/event venue has been engineered by the best engineers of the world, with the most modern technology. The petals of the lotus can close or open to hide or reveal the night sky. It can also change its colours. For tonight, it's indigo!  

🟣 The "OUTFIT CHECK" were clicked in different places (according to where the member was spotted first) hence the different background. 

🟣 I didn't want to write too dialogues on yall's behalf but I can't really bother you with every small detail, so I hope whatever dialogues I've made up are not too out of character! 

🟣Ignore the contradiction of same blue locker entering the scene multiple times, pretend there are a few copies of each member 🥰👍🏻

🟣 Ignore the outfit mismatch in the edits (any edit after the outfit checks please, our editing skills only go so far 🙏🏻 )

A Saucerful Of Secrets (1968)

Ok so I’m making these thoughts I have more coherent for this album and also for each song!

Let There Be More Light

I really love the bass line here and the intro (it feels very badass), also the way the song is sung is really cool. It kind of has spooky vibes. I already feel this is a darker (and also more heavy) album than the last one!

2. Remember A Day

This one is really cute! I love Rick’s voice here and the melody. Why do these early Floyd songs all have such incredible melodies??? The instrumental is lovely, especially the piano, and it has great vibes all around.

3. Set The Controls For The Heart of The Sun

This is so spooky! I love it. Especially how Roger’s vocals and the instrumental contribute to the dark, intimate, and spooky vibes/atmosphere. The synths here also amazing (I forgot to mention this for The Piper At The Gates of Dawn, the synths there are also amazing). This song honestly gives me old Doctor Who intro vibes. I’ll link it here so you guys know what I mean

4. Corporal Clegg

I love the surreal vibes of this! I also really like the story that is being told here through the lyrics. This song is a banger (the beat/the drums is/are really good here). Honestly a very Beatles-esque song, and it also reminds me of Tommy tbh. Also the kazoos are silly (I love silly things so this is a win for me). I also really like the delivery of the lyrics and the singing/harmonies.

5. A Saucerful of Secrets

Wow the beginning is very ominous! It kind of reminds me of those sounds captured from planets in space (like the Sun or mercury or Venus, if you know what I mean). This song in general gives me vibes like as if it’s portraying a secret extraterrestrial world. Very very creepy and dark. This song reminds me of that one part in echoes with the whale noises only darker. When the drums kick in it feels like there’s a march going on. A very chaotic song, but I can’t help but like it. Kind of sounds like a very very bad acid trip. The ending though with the keys and orchestra and singing is really great and beautiful, it kind of reminds me of a funeral (because of the organ), but it has a very hopeful vibe as well (in contrast to the rest of the song). Maybe there is a hopeful future for this dark and hopeless extraterrestrial world? This part had me ascending because it was so beautiful

Edit: Here’s the video of the sounds of planets if you haven’t heard them before! It’s really fascinating in my opinion (i love space/astronomy stuff), and I think the intro here sounds the closest to how the sun sounds in this video

6. See-Saw

The beautiful vibes of the last song continue here. It has a very lovely sounding melody with an acoustic guitar and piano. The orchestra is beautiful as well (I’m a sucker for an orchestra in classic rock songs). The vocal harmonies are beautiful as well. I’m really realizing how beautiful and lovely Rick’s voice is. This reminds me of a Beatles song as well! Also the wah wah guitar on this album is great (something I really noticed here and on another song). The xylophone here is also a nice addition.

7. Jugband Blues

A very melancholic song in my opinion. The contrast between the sad lyrics and the happy sounding instrumental is very interesting! This provides for a sad/tragic ending to the album (we all know what happened to Syd after this album unfortunately :( ). It also gives me major Space Oddity vibes (maybe Bowie was inspired?). The song gives me the vibes/theme of keeping up a happy facade, even though inside you feel sad/betrayed/angry or you’re losing your mind. It’s also very different from the other songs on this album (it sounds like as if it were from their first album). This feels like the last hurrah from Syd-era Floyd, having bitter and honest lyrics about how Syd feels about the band kicking him out.

In general I really liked this album as well! I am intrigued how the next albums are going to be

Ahhhhh okay okay!! So hear me out but hear me out  So imagine Bennys dating a famous singer, Think like Jessica rabbit aesthetic type dresses performing in clubs or at some of his chess matches as a way to entertain the people who aren't there to watch and she's french (sue me lol) so calls her stuff like Mademoiselle, Ma cherie and she calls him Monsieur or something like "Perverted American!" as a joke but they're really really in love with each other and everyone totally knows bennys dating this Famous French singer and he just gets a kick out of watching her perform and she has this this Audrey Hepburn type vibe and song voice, So like a TONNNNN OF FLUFF BUT WITH SOME SMUT AT THE END I BEG OF YOUUUU FICTION WITCHH🎶 TO LET THIS HAPPPENNNN POR FAVORRRR

I sat on the small stool with my elbows against the bar, a blue ribbon in hand watching people mill about the hotel lounge. Little light came through the windows now as it was getting late but the city of Vegas outside was still lit with its flashing colours. The lounge is busy with competitors and press for the tournament as well as the typical Vegas hotel guests. Many of the chess boys were nursing their egos with whiskey and martinis. The small stage across from the bar where a band is playing some gentle jazz is barely even audible over the muttering of people in the lounge. Even if I couldn't help but check my watch for the time knowing how soon it would change. I noticed a familiar sight saunter over sitting on the stool beside me setting his pad and pencil on the bar top as he ordered himself a drink

"Do I really need to ask or should I just copy and paste your usual stick?"

I chuckled "Beautiful venue, impressive crowd, the fourth round was a struggle but nothing I can't deal with." I explained and he noted that down "What do for you?"

"That's fine, you okay?'

"Fine, thinking what to spend my prize money on"

"You know what I mean"

"I'm fine," I shrug

"How's that girl you were talking about?"

"Girl?"

"That girl you were… seeing?"

"Ah, you mean y/n."

"Yeah that girl"

"Ah ah, woman. She's not a girl." I corrected

"You actually brought her this time?"

"Ohh she'll be around here somewhere" I smirked

The moment I uttered those words a woman drifted in right on time, from the long corridor leading to the front desk and casino floor through the glass doors into the lounge as if in slow motion. Her black dagger pumps with a strap around her ankle stepped onto the carpet skin tone stockings without a single ladder blood red seams up the back of her legs the left slightly crooked, She wore a skin-tight red dress with a sweetheart neckline and the hem sitting just above her knees even from here I could see every curve of her body in that dress, around her waist a black belt perhaps an inch thick tied in a small bow at her back three buttons from her waist to her neckline and then off the shoulder black straps that caressed her breasts and settled so perfectly across her arms, she wore black gloves that reached her elbows, in the crook of her elbow a small black leather channel handbag with a golden chain. Her lipstick was perfectly highlighting her Cupid's now the colour matching her dress perfectly, a dagger-like flick of eyeliner and I'm sure more that I couldn't see or name, her long y/c/h sat hovering above her shoulders where it has been tightly curled likely sat on rollers for hours giving her this sculpted but still fluffy curls of hair. Many turned as she entered the room a few conversations stopping short even more so as she stepped to the stage walking up setting her bag down and whispering instructions to the band. She walked to the mic giving the stand an adjustment. The room silenced as people found seats to watch as the band began their music and the moment she opened her lips it was like time froze.

I smiled no matter how many times I'd heard her she still sounded like an angel, Everyone watched her but even in this crowded lounge I still felt as if she was just singing to me, My heart fluttered unable to prevent my smiles, people had even now gathered at the door from elsewhere in the hotel many who were walking past but so captivated by her they had to stop. After a few songs, her set was over and she ended it the way she always does blowing a sweet kiss.

Immediately applause erupted and she began getting set to leave

"So? Where is your lady then?" Towns asked

I saw her grab her back so I set my beer down "Do excuse me a moment towns" I told him getting up fixing my jacket and heading over to the edge of the stage I wasn't alone several boys lingering there She went to step down the stairs but I offered her my hand which she smiled at and happily took sliding her hand into my own I guided her down the steps

"Mademoiselle" I smirked

"Monsieur" she smirked back giving my cheek a kiss and fixing my hair before she headed to the bar on her own I smirked and followed her as she took my seat at the bar

"My my I never thought I'd be in the presence, miss y/n y/l/n" Towns smiled taking her hand to give it a kiss "I've a lot about you"

"Humm all terrible I hope" she smiled

"No, no All remarkable. Mostly from Benny"

"Awww, my sweet little promoter" she smiled 

"Really though I think half the hotel's just here to see you" Towns explained 

"You flatter me too much really" she smirked "Monsieur Watts? Mind fetching me something"

"You're usual?"

"Yes please" she smiled 

so I ordered her, her usual drink a Black rose having to explain to the barman how to make it as it's not a common drink here, Once he handed it over I paid and sat down beside her "You're drink mademoiselle" I smirked

"Why thank you" she smiled happily taking it and giving it a test sip immediately grabbing the rosemary sprig to stir it a little more 

"Don't I get a tip?" I asked her 

She smiled and gave my cheek another kiss "Thank you Ma cherie"

"I would love to know how in all the wide world you two ended up near each other let alone actually together?"

"Come on Towns you all don't care how, you're all just jealous I got her" I smirked wrapping my arm around her waist 

"Still, very interested in the how," He says glancing between me and her 

"You want to tell the story or shall I?" 

"Go ahead" she smiled "You so enjoy it" she smirked getting her handbag open and plucking out her square matt black Chanel compact mirror that matched her handbag, and the small golden tube clicked open the compact holding it in her palm as she twisted the tube to reveal the red bullet lipstick inside so she could begin to touch up her make up 

"Alright" I smiled "Well I headed over to Paris for the tournament as usual, and after the tournament, I went to the hotel bar and met up with a friend of mine, Clio. We sat and had a drink and a chat same as usual and she told me her sister was doing a performance at a bar a few blocks away. So we headed down and got a table and a couple of drinks. And there she was." I explained resting my hand on her thigh "She started her set and even if I could barely understand any of it, I was smitten. Never been so captivated in my life"

She put her mirror away and smiled "I came to sit with them but never even bothered to get a drink, I talked his little ear off." 

"Well I wasn't exactly going to stop your beautiful voice was I, Ma cherie?"

"We talked so much Clio went home and we hadn't even noticed. We were in there all night the owner kicking us out when he wanted to go home,"

"I even ended up staying in pairs an extra three days just to spend more time with her, But when I went home I missed her badly, I kept calling you every other night because I missed you so much" I smiled taking her hand 

"So I had a little word with my manager at the time as I was due to start a North American tour in a few weeks anyway, added an extra week in New York" she smiled squeezing my hand "We spent every day of that week together he showed me all the lovely new york spots, we went out for dinner every night, even took me to the king and I on broadway"

"That cost me an arm and a leg I can tell you, but it was worth it a thousand times over to see how happy it made you, and to hear your own rendition in the car on the way back to your hotel you were twice as good as her" 

"Don't over-flatter me Monsieur" she smiled 

"She was fantastic, I half told her to go audition herself. we had a lovely week but It was almost too nice"

"I had a little tag-along for my tour, from New York to San Francisco. My the loudest applause at every show. One could say I've had a little tag-along ever since" 

"Or maybe you've tagged along with me ever since" 

"Well that's certainly up for debate" she laughs "But I just found it all so perfect here, wasn't a month or so later I packed up my things and came to New York to stay"

"You left Paris? for that grey basement?" Towns asked 

"It's not that bad" I argued

"I like it, very nice acoustics. Now if you'll excuse us Monsieur Watts and I need to get up to our room if we're going to be on time tomorrow" 

"Of course, you two have a good evening" Towns nodded 

We finished our drinks, and she offered her hand "Monsieur" so I happily took it 

"Mademoiselle" I gave her hand a kiss as I helped her up from the barstool and we headed out hand in hand. I couldn't help but smirk keeping her on my arm always kinda felt like showing off as we headed out and up to our hotel room. 

"Quiet a show tonight" I smirked as I locked the hotel door 

"I think it went alright, but I think my second song wasn't the best," she says immediately kicking off her heels and bag, sitting at the small vanity in the hotel room pulling her hair up into a bun and slowly removing her make up 

"Don't be stupid you were perfect Ma cherie" I smiled throwing my jacket and hat, sitting on the bed to kick off my own shoes and getting up to give her head a kiss as she worked "Same as you always are"

"Nothing is ever perfect, we can always improve. Would you say any of your games were perfect?"

"No, but you should see you sing from this side" I smiled wrapping my arms around her shoulders

"And you should see you play from this side" She smiled leaning back to give my lips a little kiss I went and continued to get changed for bed grabbing a book to read as I got comfy, but I never even opened it as I merely watched her stripping away the makeup and beauty that she had worked so hard to create leaving her as this sweet little face that she so often hid, all the little parts of her face that she hid with her makeup and glamourous clothes and watching it all peel away made me so happy seeing her in this way that only I got to see. and I suppose as I glanced down at myself without my intense clothes, and attitudes that frighten the chess boys. I suppose she too saw me in ways only she ever gets too. That and our shower is in our living room, she has definitely seen me in ways no one else has. Once she was done slipping on her little black nightie and climbing into bed "Hi"

"Hi," I smiled wrapping my arms around her "Ready for bed?"

"Ummm not quiet"

"No?"

"No, I figured as we're surrounded by your chess colleagues, I thought you might... want to show off a little" she cooes nuzzling into my neck

"I think I did enough of that in the lounge I was getting daggers stared into my back" 

"True, but wouldn't you like to annoy them even more" she cooes "Je veux que tu me fasses crier, toute la nuit. Monsieur" 

It took me a moment as I was still not that great with French, "ooh, yeah?"

"Umm,"

"To uhh gardez tout le Monde eveille Ma cherie?"

"Most definitely, so shall we?"

"Absolutely Mademoiselle" I smirked pushing her down onto our bed

“Are you sure that dating is a good idea?” Valerie inhaled sharply through her nose at Danny’s words, immediately pushing down the sting of rejection. She doesn’t hide it very well, as Danny takes one look before he continues, panicked. “I don’t mean it like that! I just. Don’t know if its a good idea?”

“If you don’t like me, you can just say that,” she mumbles. She moves to turn away, but Danny grabs her wrist before she can.

“It’s not that! I do like you, and I would like to date you. I’m just worried that uh.” Danny’s face is beat red, and he lowers his voice until he’s mumbling as well. “I just don’t want something bad to happen.”

Valerie feels the sting of rejection fade slightly. “Like what?” she asks, slipping her wrist out of Danny’s grasp to properly hold her hand.

He looks down at it, face turning even redder. “I don’t know. I…” he trails off, looking towards the ground where he kicks at a loose piece of pavement. “I think you’re wonderful, and I don’t want to lose you.”

The last remnants of rejection turn to joy at his confession, and Valerie smiles softly at him, pulling him down to sit on the curb. “That’s why I’m asking you out, Danny. I think you’re wonderful too, and I like you a lot.”

He looks up at her so quickly she’s afraid he might have hurt his neck. “You do?”

She rolls her eyes. “Yea, I do. I’m pretty sure that’s a prerequisite to asking someone out on a date, you know?”

“Oh, right,” Danny says. He chuckles nervously, scratching at the back of his neck in the way he always does when he’s embarrassed. It’s adorable.

Valerie bites her lip and thinks over her next words carefully. “I don’t want to lose you either, you know. But I think we could really be good together, and if we don’t take that chance, we’ll be losing whatever we could have been. I’m willing to risk it, if you are.”

Danny meets her eyes, and she’s lost in the bright, deep blue, just like the last dozen times she’s seen them. He doesn’t answer for a minute, thinking so hard she can practically see the gears turning in his head. Finally, his face relaxes, and she gives her hand, which is still clasped in his slightly sweaty one, a gentle squeeze. “I think that I’d like that.”

“Are you busy tonight?” Danny asks, and Valerie jumps, hitting her hand against the locker door. “I’m sorry!” Danny says, grabbing it quickly and looking it over. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”

Valerie laughs. “Yea, yea, you never do.” She moves to take her hand away and finish emptying her locker, but Danny stops her. “Danny, I’m fine, you don’t need to worry about it.”

Danny smirks at her. He maintains eye contact with her as he brings her hand to his lips and gently kisses her knuckles. “There. Now you’re fine.” He lets her hand go.

Valerie flicks him in the arm. “Sap. I’m free tonight, after my shift. Why?”

“It’s supposed to be super clear then, and we should be able to see Venus without a telescope or anything. I was wondering if you’d like to go stargazing with me?”

“I think I should be able to,” she says slowly, thinking over her plans for the night. She was working until 9, and had told her father to expect her home around 11, for patrol. But she’d patrolled yesterday, and she so rarely found anything more troublesome than an ectopus. Surely, Phantom could handle Amity by himself for a few hours?

Danny smiled, bouncing so fast with excitement he might as well have been floating. “Great! I can meet you at the Nasty Burger after your shift and we can walk to the park?”

Valerie slammed her locker shut and lifted her backpack over her shoulder. “Actually, why don’t I pick you up? On the corner of Main and Jekyll?”

“Sounds good to me!” Danny agreed instantly. Then he paused in his bouncing. “But why?”

“You’ll see,” Valerie said. She hurried off down the hall, ignoring Danny’s shouted questions as she left his line of sight.

Valerie had her whole shift to worry about what she was planning on doing. She’d been thinking about telling Danny about her being Red Huntress for months now; there just never seemed to be a good time to do it. As nervous as she was about it, she was still certain this was the right time, if only because she needed to know what he looked like surrounded by the stars he loved so much.

Every customer in her ear piece, every load of french fries into the fryer, every tap of a key on the computer system, made her more and more jittery, both from stress and excitement. The second that the clock hit 9 Valerie was clocked out and changing out of her uniform at record speeds. She had scarcely made it behind the dumpster in the back before she was in her Red Huntress suit, soaring away on her hoverboard to the meeting place.

Sure enough, Danny stood in the dark, staring intently down the road in the direction of the Nasty Burger. Valerie floated down as gently as she could manage, getting to be a good seven feet off the ground before Danny turned to look at her. His face slackened in shock, his mouth falling open as he saw her.

She lifted back her visor and smiled at him. “What are you waiting for, Danny? Do you want to see the stars or not?” She held out her hand to him, and he took it without a second thought, stepping up on her hoverboard. He stood in front of her, with her arms wrapped around his torso to keep him secure. “I hope you’re not afraid of heights!” She called. Whatever his answer was, it was lost to the wind as they took to the skies.

Before long, the two of them found themselves floating high above the trees in Amity Park Park, sitting with their legs dangling off the side of the hoverboard and an endless expanse of night sky unbroken above them. Valerie drew her eyes away from the stars, turning them to Danny, and was surprised to see him looking at her in turn.

“Danny?” she asked, concerned. “Is something wrong?” Danny didn’t break her gaze, didn’t answer her question, just stared at her, thinking. “I know its a lot, and I’m sorry I never told you. I didn’t mean to go behind your back with all of this,” she said, panic settling in her chest. She should have thought this over more; of course he wouldn’t just accept this without a thought, she’s been keeping huge, life changing secrets from him!

“What if,” Danny said slowly. “I said this wasn’t the first time I’d been this high up?”

“What?” she asked, confused.

“Not in a plane or anything,” Danny continued. “But flying. Like this. What if I said it wasn’t my first time?”

“Well,” Valerie said, picking apart his words. They seemed so random, but they had to be leading somewhere. “I guess I’d ask when you were? And how?”

Danny hummed, and broke eye contact, looking up at the stars. “And if you didn’t like the answer?”

“I don’t understand,” Valerie said.

“What if I had the answer to that question, but it was one you hated? The type of answer that changed everything, that made you question everything you think you know?” Danny still didn’t look at her, sitting so still it didn’t even look like he was breathing. “Would you still want to know it?”

Valerie took a deep breath, the cold air stinging her nose, her lungs. “If it has to do with you, then yes. I want to know everything about you.”

Danny met her gaze that time, but what she saw was not the beautiful blue that she could get lost in for hours. Danny’s eyes were a burning, glowing green, so vibrant that they illuminated her hoverboard. “It’s not the first time I’ve been up this high. It’s not even the first time I’ve been up here with you.”

Valerie couldn’t have kept her eyes open even if she tried, as a flash of bright light emanated from Danny. She rubbed the spots out of her eyes, and then rubbed them again as she tried to figure out what she was seeing. Danny’s familiar figure had been replaced with a different figure, one just as familiar, if for very different reasons. The ghosts green eyes, the same green she had seen Danny with only moments prior, had once again drifted to the stars.

“What?” she asked, not able to speak over a whisper.

“There was an accident,” he said, and now that the answer had been placed in her lap she couldn’t help but recognize just how similar their voices were. Just how similar their everything was. “In freshman year. I died, but I didn’t do it right. I’m half ghost, and half human.”

This time it was Valerie who was slack jawed. Danny let her gather her thoughts. “I tried to end you.” The words were forced out, every syllable choked as if it hurt to say. In many ways, it did.

“I know you did. I’ve known its been you the whole time,” Danny said, and Valerie was left reeling again from that knowledge.

“But, why?” she asked finally. “If you knew it was me, why did you go out with me? Fuck, why did you try and be my friend?”

“I meant what I said. I think you’re wonderful, and you were trying to help,” Danny said. “It’s why I was worried it wouldn’t end well. I didn’t know what you would think about all of this.”

“I think,” Valerie said. It took effort to keep her voice even, but she managed. “I think that we’re both horrible at being honest.” Danny’s laughter echoed in the night, the haunting echo of a ghost. Normally that echoed chilled her, but it was still Danny’s laugh underneath it all. Danny’s laugh, which had never failed to lift her spirits. Now was not an exception. “No more secrets?” Valerie lifted her hand, pinky finger extended.

Danny looked over, and his smile wasn’t the one of glee he had worn earlier that day, but it was soft, and hopeful, and fit beautifully on his face. “No more secrets.” He looped his pinky finger around hers, locking their promise in place. His hands were ice cold. Valerie didn’t let go.

Valerie didn’t bother trying to find the spare key for Fentonworks under the mat. Before she’d even started up the stairs she had an ectoblaster in her hand. By the time she made it to the top of the stairs the door handle was melted off, and she barreled in the house without breaking her momentum.

She careened through the house at top speed, slamming into walls instead of bothering to change course manually. She’d wasted too many seconds already; she couldn’t afford to be late.

She jumped down the steps to the basement, taking as many as she could at once without badly injuring herself. Even still her knees ached at the impact, but she didn’t slow down. She didn’t slow down until the Dr.’s Fenton came into view, each in their customary color coded jumpsuits, with additional surgery masks on their faces. “Stop!” she shouted, though it came out as more of a sob. “Don’t hurt him!”

Jack and Maddie shared a confused look. “Valerie, what are you doing here?” Maddie asked. Valerie didn’t answer, dashing between the two scientists to stand between them and Phantom, who was strapped to the table. “Valerie Gray, you get away from it! It’s dangerous!”

“He,” Valerie snarled. “is your son!” She didn’t bother looking at their confused faces, her full attention on Danny. He wasn’t hurt too badly, at least not for his standards. He was even still conscious, if only barely, his eyes rolled back in his head. “Danny, can you hear me?”

“Val?” he slurred, trying to turn his head towards her and failing.

“It’s me, Danny.” She fumbled at the mechanisms restraining him. “I’m gonna get you out of here, but I need you to go back to human. Can you do that for me?”

Danny squeezed his eyes the rest of the way shut as he focused. The start of his transformation rings appeared at his waist, but they sputtered out before anything could happen. “Can’t.”

Jack’s hand closed around Valerie’s wrist, firm yet gentle. “Valerie, you can’t be down here, its dangerous. I don’t know what you think it is, but its a ghost. They’re dangerous.”

“I know how dangerous ghosts can be,” she said, wrenching her arm free from Jack’s grip. “I’ve been fighting them with you for years.” She let her suit emerge, everything but the visor. “You know me, you know I’m a good ghost hunter. You’ve trusted me to help defend you in fights. So trust me now.” She pointed at Danny behind her. “That is your son, and you are hurting him. You need to let him go.”

Maddie and Jack stared at her, Jack’s shock clear on his face while Maddie had her eyes narrowed, assessing the situation. Finally, Maddie nodded her head, and moved towards the bed.

“If you’re wrong about this, we’ll be letting a dangerous creature back out into the world,” Maddie said as she worked to deactivate the restraints, Valerie hovering behind her. “But if you’re right, then we will never be able to live with ourselves.”

The restraints popped open, setting Danny free. This time, the rings didn’t petter out.

@ujunxverse: the strobing lights in a small concert venue where an alternative rock band is playing. viv's music taste and little mentions of music she listens to give me recommendations for more artists to listen to in the future. i also realize that our music taste venn diagram is more connected than i realized (cassiopea, have a nice life, radiohead, etc)

@heartandfangs: the narrow aisle of a warm-colored old bookstore. i think because of how amazingly P writes her stories it makes me think of that. one shelf is apocalyptic (the world ends with you) and another is erotica (i owe you and not if it's you)

@euphor1a: the smell of freshly baked vanilla cake in a pastel bakery on the corner of the street block. i mentioned to aleyna how she reminded me of sugar cookies before. with this, i'm expanding what i said before to the whole bakery :D

@jeongwins: an aesthetic-looking list on letterboxd. i know it seems random, but the way lin writes reviews for fics they recommend is how a film critic writes a review for a movie. in a way, it also shows the people what kind of fics they like and how others can expect from the fics by their reviews, just like how people on letterboxd make list for movies they like aesthetically or story wise

@s-ngh8n: open parasols on the sandy beach with the glittering waves in the distance. kinda like their name, lemon has a sense of freshness that i can't fully articulate using adjectives. so, here i am using a description to fully said what i meant

@boba-beom: xing fu tang's brown sugar boba milk tea. other than the boba theme being similar, smiles to me seems very refreshing and warm in the way she speaks and interacts with yours truly

@dim-sun: a cottagecore-themed pixel art. probably because zu had one of them for their banner one time, but every time i found a forest pixel art, it always reminds me of them...

@it-rains-blue: a rupi kaur-style book full of short stories. condensed yet emotionally rich, that is what the vibe of yerin's writing feels like for me. her range also contributes to it as short stories in one book can make you feel so many emotions; throwing the book against the wall or seeing tears fell on the pages from how it got you to feel.

@heart2beom: the smell of salted popcorn as you sit inside the cinema seats. another random one but jazmine makes me feel that way. i haven't read much of her work but i know that it'll give me a good time just like a good movie does.

@tyunlatte: a litter of kittens walking towards you as you sit on the carpeted floor of a cat cafe. seeing illustrations of cats reminds me of alex so much + the cafe aspect is definitely the kind of vibe if i open her blog. you're always in for a treat!

@lovejoshua: the colors: rose quartz and serenity. iykyk ;) but in all seriousness, i'm happy to see svt's content in my timeline from time to time because of ilem (literally every time i wake up and check the blr, it's gonna be either josh or seungcheol gifs. and i am in for that)

@junniieesbby: an emoji of a heart. as her previous moniker for her time as anon, every time i see a heart of any kind, both the symbol heart or a heart that looks accurate anatomically, it reminds me of angie!

@hanniejie: the song "can you feel the sunshine?" from the video game sonic r. using the sol as their aesthetic, lex gives of a very warm and optimistic vibe whenever i see their name or username, kinda like this song whenever i play them.

@txt-yaomi: ateez's yunho. ever since i learned that sof ults him, i kinda feel almost the same vibe between the two of them. both can be calm and excitedly chaotic at any time >.<

Dearest Abnormally Attracted To Sin, it’s your day, girl! I remember hearing Give for the first time and it reminded me of Portishead, which was exciting. Welcome to England is a love letter to T’s adopted home, Flavor is a spacey sister from another mister of To Venus And Back. Police Me has such a cyber servailiance slither into the current age, the That Guy swoops in with such a sweeping orchestral/operatic/New York James Bond vibe. My favorite song from the record is the title track. The lyrics and sonic landscape really mirror each other in such a special way-so sexy, with a 1980’s shimmer and slither that makes this song one of my favorite Tori songs of all time. Mary Jane has the same whimsy as something like Mr. Zebra, but with some molecular structures thrown in. I feel Starling is way underrated, minus the bridge; it sounds like a melancholy birdsong with classic Tori-type imagery of feathers becoming blades-and the other bird imagery makes me want to pair this song with the song Unrepentant Geraldines or Rose Dover or both. Fast Horse is a great road-trip song with the driving rhythm and imagery of desert highways and horses-there’s a rough edge to her that’s like the heat of the desert itself. Ophelia of course evokes the Shakespearean character, and a young woman searching for autonomy and desire to make her own way, to shed the shadow of perhaps the expectations others have of her but have nothing to do with what she wants for herself in her life. Lady In Blue is a smokey, jazzy, slow burn that builds into the perfect album closer. She always reminds me of Billie Holliday’s Don’t Explain, which I love. The b-side of Oscar’s Theme is that balmy last breath of Summer that floats into fall-it always evokes rich earth tones and a sleepy August afternoon.

ATTS is both slick and rugged, spacey and earthy, and has an intensity that simmers, ebbs, and flows rather than explodes. She’s fun to run back to, because there are so many different kinds of sounds happening. She’s a bell tower of sonic sizzle, and will burn on for years to come.

hello !! it's been a while, so i hope you've been having a good go of it since the last time i popped in !! things have gotten very busy again, but i kept remembering that disappearing completely after my last ask mentioning a widespread wildfire might be a little concerning, so this is partially just a celebration to say that: scorpion and smoke of mortal kombat fame are no longer having a field day in my area! yay!

aside from that, this may be a little off kilter to normal music recommendations, but i've come to associate the "jupiter, the bringer of jollity" from gustav holst's planets suite with kung lao! it is a classical orchestra piece, so it is definitely harder to describe or suggest, but i think that the title alone is a good primer. it's a piece with a lot of fanfare that really sweeps across the room, so it really makes me think of his broad grin. the sudden dips between flighty melodies and grandiose sections also just makes me think of the dimples, haha. since classical music may be a harder sell though, i'll give another music suggestion: AFRO PARKER's "cosmic dance" is a quintessential song to imagine a dynamic duo to imo. i think that the fun energy is infectious! if you're looking for something a little sappier, daydream by AFRO PARKER is very cute too, though this is more general than character-based.

since i've been on the topic of planets: if you were to assign characters you like planets or cosmic bodies, what would you choose? despite associating kung lao with the jupiter movement of the planets suite, i actually associate him with saturn (because of the rings hehe) and i associate liu kang with mars! on a less fandom related note, i don't have any favourite planets or anything, but if you do, i'd love to hear about it! -🎐

🟣 My anchoring style is highly energetic and bubbly so you can imagine me doing a lot of hand gestures, changing pitch and tones of my voice, moving around on the stage a lot, etc. Hehe.  

🟣 The theatre/event venue has been engineered by the best engineers of the world, with the most modern technology. The petals of the lotus can close or open to hide or reveal the night sky. It can also change its colours. For tonight, it's indigo!

I, however, am still in the process of planning out my glue tower and bridge, and I.... am definitely not a top earner in the neo egoist league 💀

Hatebreed 20 Years of Brutality

Once located in the Historic Ybor City, The Orpheum was host to tens of thousands of shows for many years until they recently moved to a different part of Tampa. Now sporting an indoor and outdoor bar, equipped with animal skeletons scaling down the walls outside, the atmosphere was the perfect venue to end Hatebreed’s 20 Years of Brutality tour with special guests Terror, Vein.fm, and Inhuman Conditions. With a sold-out show, the line to get in wrapped around the entire venue for over 30 minutes and felt never ending.

The venue was quickly packed with all ages of fans, from 6-year-olds to 60+ year-olds, ready to throw down and have their ears assaulted by heavy, hard, and fast paced metal. With a new line stretching across the venue for one of Hatebreed’s limited edition Florida shirts, the atmosphere had a definite calm before-the-storm vibe as people stood around and mingled. However, it didn’t take long for that to shift as Vein.fm came out swinging and stirring the pit up. Causalities formed quickly in the pit, leaving one with a gnarly gash above their eye, but still in high spirits and ready to continue to rock hard. With high energy, even higher acrobatics, and anger-fueled music, Vein.fm definitely started the night off right and intense.

Vein.fm (formerly known as Vein) is a hardcore band that formed in 2013 in Boston. Their musical style is that of hardcore and metalcore and nothing short of future domination.

Next up was a local band called Inhuman Conditions whose bassist is Terry Butler of Obituary/Death and also Taylor Nordberg and Jeramie Kling of Massacre. Being in the scene for a long time, it was no surprise that Inhuman Conditions took no time to storm the stage and remind everyone why Tampa is the unofficial death metal capital of the world. Circle pits formed, and mosquitoes swarmed. Beach balls appeared during their metal cover of Blue Oyster Cult’s “Godzilla.” Jeramie worked the crowd into a frenzy while standing on the barricades and giving high-fives to fans. His family stood nearby as he continued to pump the crowd up. Never once letting the intensity drop.

I knew I was in for some heavy-hitting music being a big fan of Terror and watching the lead singer Scott Vogel get pumped up right in front of me on the side of the stage. The “Keepers of the Faith” singer took no time to let the crowd know that they needed to get ready and start moving. Scott screamed for people to start coming forward, and without hesitation, bodies came crowdsurfing to the barricades spilling over. With an occasional microphone tossed into the crowd to let fans sing as well Terror amplified the night’s energy in preparation for Hatebreed. Terror stomped around and let you know why they praised the phrase “Pain into Power” with intense music that left me and the crowd needing more.

Terror is a hardcore and beat-down punk band from Los Angeles that formed over 20 years ago. Terror has released eight studio albums, all with brutal and intense music. Terror is considered to be one of the most influential bands that defined the beatdown hardcore music sub-genre.

With lights dimming and music slowly building up the intensity, Hatebreed came out hard, fast, and brutal opening with “Tear it Down”. Hatebreed never disappointed and fulfilled their promise of brutality and intensity, as each song passed. Security swarmed the pit a few times as lead singer Jamey Jasta unleashed his vocal mayhem and ended the night with their famous track “I Will Be Heard” with the crowd chanting along, you could definitely hear this throughout the city. It was a show I was pumped to see and I wasn’t let down one bit!

Hatebreed is a metalcore band from Bridgeport, Connecticut that formed in 1994. Hatebreed has never strayed from its path or hard-hitting music equipped with intense and brutal screaming. Hatebreed has been an influential band within the hardcore scene and a pillar of domination. With a loyal fanbase for nearly 30 years, Hatebreed’s dominance isn’t stopping anytime soon, and their legacy will forever live on, cemented in hardcore and beat down hardcore forever.

CONCERT REVIEW: FIONN W/ AUDALEI AND ANTON SETH AT FOX CABARET - MARCH 24, 2023

Local folk-pop duo Fionn took over the stage at Vancouver’s beloved Fox Cabaret last Friday. Supported by openers Anton Seth and audalei, this show pushed the boundaries of genre, blending heartfelt lyrics with catchy melodies and energetic riffs. All three artists commanded the stage, captivating the audience from the very first song with the candor and verve of their storytelling.

Anton Seth kicked off the show with expert stage presence, using the entire available space to stroll and dance around in punk-business-casual attire. He connected with the crowd from the first moment and embodied the lyrics, immediately drawing us in to the dynamic energy on stage. Ian Perry rocked playful riffs and energetic solos on a snazzy blue guitar, underscored by Skylar Bartel’s sleek black bass, with Josh Ertman on the drums keeping everyone dancing. Anton’s vocal prowess supported the emotionality of his lyrics through sustained notes and catchy choruses alike. Their music is a blend of playfulness and angst, with Anton describing some songs as being trauma dumps and others as being more upbeat. Their setlist included “As Is,” a brand new song released that day; “Selfish,” described as being about a selfish asshole after a breakup; “Space Girl,” for which they invoked audience participation; an Allen Stone cover to close, which they characterized as bringing the classy vibes for the Fox Cabaret. After seven years in his previous band, Anton Seth has launched an extremely promising solo career and is more than capable of taking larger venues by storm.

audalei took the stage next, sparking interest right away with an eclectic mix of styles: vocalist audalei in a fishnet top and baggy ripped jeans, a laptop operated by a mysterious Mr. Gorilla in a head-to-toe gorilla suit, and guitarist Lucas in a classy button-up. audalei’s charisma and confidence on stage strikes a balance with the heartwrenching vulnerability of her lyrics, e.g. “you only love me when you’re wasted.” Bouncing around on stage, her light and playful energy felt comforting while her lyrics wove stories universally relatable and sometimes painful. Her earnest and passionate energy held our attention for every word. Between songs, when she wasn’t singing directly to our hearts, she told us she was trying her hand at stand-up. She filled the room with laughter, cracking jokes and giving wry shoutouts to alcohol and narcissists before launching into “sour candy jesus christ.” Other songs performed included “I don’t care,” which audalei described as less heartbreaking; “atleast my therapist thinks im cool,” which blew up on TikTok; “20 SOMETHiNG,” for which she encouraged audience participation; an ambitious cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Valerie,” a perfect fit for audalei’s smooth and vulnerable voice. In sum, watching audalei perform feels like a cathartic dance party in your living room with your best friends.

The show concluded with headliner Fionn. Sisters Alanna and Brianne filled the venue with powerful vocals, sometimes playing bass and guitar respectively and other times using a backing track. Cole supported on the drums with an energetic momentum. Though the sisters’ clothing styles contrasted, platform shoes matched their heights. Their voices melted together seamlessly into beautifully dynamic melodies. Neither commanded more presence than the other, but rather they highlighted each other, occupying the center of focus as a unit. They shifted between movement and stillness, reflecting the balance their music strikes between fierce power, playful celebration, and tender softness. Both have strong and versatile ranges, giving them the ability to adapt and support each other’s vocal parts.

Their performance was expressive, never shying away from embodying the honesty in their songwriting. At one point, during “Goldfish,” Alanna broke a guitar pick and regretted not having extras (her outfit had no pockets) – but Anton Seth came to the rescue and provided a spare. Other songs they played included “18,” about having a crush; “All Good,” which Alanna said was because it’s always all good, as she donned retro sunglasses; a cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” which they styled with gorgeous harmonies and got the crowd almost moshing; “Take Me Out,” with personal lyrics based on a diary entry; “Leo,” with its catchy pop chorus, and before which they mentioned they’re both Leo risings; “Dirty Dancing,” for which they told us we must dance, because this is the song where they lose it.

This show was a journey through three distinct songwriting styles with vastly different backgrounds and personalities – all of which share the common ground of expert storytelling with heartfelt sincerity, wrapped up in melodic verve and passion. These are three artists who each have something important to say, and exceptional voices with which to share it.
