I think season 4 was the toughest to watch because s1 - 3 didn't even pretend to care about Gar but s4 did and their "storyline" for him wasn't even a storyline it was one episode to speedrun his entire character and a couple scenes that got forgotten about once the scene was over
they're so allergic to Gar being in the plot you could cut his scenes and focused episode out and still be able to understand the season without much issue
and I was just sick of the writers using "Gar is the nice funny one" to ignore all the bullshit they put him through. With the more horror tone of season 4 I really was hoping Gar's character would've gotten more dark and serious while they actually explored his character's trauma and backstory. Like the way Ryan described Gar's story made it seem like he was going on an epic journey to figure out who he is and have to face all his inner demons throughout the season - which he didn't - so I'm convinced the writers were threatening him behind the camera to hype up a fake storyline
#the season was more about dick/kory/conner than anyone else#with tim and rachel being the co-cast#gar is last because he added nothing to the plot#titans#gar logan

Unpopular opinion about the women of Titans :
Been sitting on this draft a while but I saw yet another post claiming Kory was sidelined in s3 so yeah. That’s simply not what I watched. There was an A and B plot. Dick had the A plot and Kory had the B plot everyone else fell on either side.
Kory:
IMO she gets more to do every season. Kory in s1 was more focused on saving Rachel than anything. We should have gotten episodes about her backstory but I did really enjoy everything we learned about her via her relationship with the team. She had a good plot in s2 that focused exclusively on her it just deserved more screen-time. There was a ton of scenes of people standing around in s2 that frankly should have been cut. Kory did way more in s3 than Donna,Hank,Dawn, and Rachel. Conner too. I think what people actually mean is not “Kory did nothing all season” but “Kory didn’t date Dick and that’s the only thing about her I pay attention to.” Like just say that. I’m still not understanding how people are claiming she was sidelined in favor of the white Titans who were barely in the season? Anyway we deserve to see more of Tamaran and her backstory.
Babs:
Can we stop pretending Babs entire plot line didn’t revolve around Dick to the point where she barely even talked to other people? She was in many many scenes but I don’t know her. That’s not good guys. That’s terrible writing actually. There’s no way people want that writing for other women right? But maybe I’m wrong here cause people seem VERY jealous of Dawn’s writing. I liked Babs for the most part and I was really hoping we’d get scenes of her with the team but nope! That isolation was annoying as hell LOL. Why did they do that? Felt like she wasn’t on the show a lot of the time.
Rachel:
Rachel got a ton of screen-time in s1 and I think they did a good job using it to to explain who she was and what insecurities she needed to overcome. S2 her story was half baked and unfocused and then she vanished in s3 so she could bring Donna back...then they had her fail at that for some god forsaken reason. Not sure why people are still crying about the show being all about Rachel or the writing focusing on her more than Kory and Gar. That was only in s1 guys. She’s just been vibing in the background ever since. That being said Rachel does manage to grow as a person every season.
Dawn and Donna:
I’ll never understand the way people talk about these two. Dawn and Donna were barely in s1. Dawn flirted with Dick and got thrown off a building, Donna stopped Kory and did nothing else. S2 they both got a generous amount of screentime but it didn’t really do anything for them. Dawn has never once had a plot that’s about her…she just hasn’t. Her life revolves around Hank or around why things didn’t work with Dick and that’s not good no matter how anyone spins it. Donna just was angry about Garth the whole season and then died. And do we even have to talk about s3? Blink and you miss Dawn. Donna was here for a few episodes, helped a little and then she left. I don’t get what people are ever talking about when they discuss these two getting better things than other characters. Where?
Rose:
There’s not a ton to say about Rose. She was a plot device basically and a poorly used one but I did sympathize with her seeing how her father manipulated her (and literally stabbed her eye out!?). Now should it have been that damn easy for Slade to convince her to kill people? Nope! But the writers cared more about the melodrama between the older Titans than explaining the motive of one of the main villains. We got her backstory the second to last episode of the season and it was rushed so they could spend a majority of the episode on Hank’s fight club sub plot. Made very little sense bruh. Zero bars.
Kom:
I felt bad for her the entire season. It sucked writers stripped her of her villain status but what sucked more was people refusing to accept her as anything else. The amount of people who were rooting for her to have been raping Conner all season. I just?????? And when they weren’t praying she was sexually assaulting him and stealing his powers through orgasms 🥴… they were flat out pretending Kom didn’t exist. They didn’t care about what she and Kory were learning about each other, they didn’t care about her probably falling in love for the first time in her life, they didn’t care that her parents were abusing her and gaslighting her and Kory their entire lives. They just wanted her out of here. The writers didn’t do that to her. The fans did. The writing actually set Kom up to be sympathetic but people refused. It was ugly AF. Anyway I did enjoy her alternate story despite originally wanting her to be the big bad- where she was learning compassion, forgiveness, love, and trust. I hope we’ll see her again.
Yeah that’s all I’ve got. Hoping for some good Kory and Rachel content next season. I’m assuming Donna will be guest starring and maybe we’ll get some more character growth there.
#idk maybe a lot of people watch the show with a bias that makes them see things that aren’t happening#not even being condescending here maybe it’s some kind of Mendela effect going on#koriand'r#rachel roth#titans#dc titans#komand'r#don't really wanna tag the others then get ppl having meltdowns in my inbox lol#misspelled mandela because of course i did

In my observation the main difference between Barbara, Dawn and Kory is self awareness. Kory is confident in herself, but realizes she is not without faults and because of that fact she accepts that we are all flawed, and meets people where they are. For her, each day of life is a journey. The speech she gave to Gar and Conner (after Jason’s death) about learning and growing is the embodiment of Kory herself. Regarding Dick, specifically, unlike Dawn and Barbara, Kory does not coddle him or compare him to anyone else. And to your point about trust, she trusts him implicitly and that enables him to reciprocate. Part of the reason Hank is dead is because Dawn didn’t trust that Dick had the situation under control, although when asked, not once but twice, he told her his plans. She felt that she had a better grasp of the situation and could handle Jason better than Dick could. After the bank heist Barbara told Dick, the instructions were to be a better Batman and declared that she and the people in the GCPD building would protect the city. I know they’re not lasting long, but I will be interested to see what is the final nail in their coffin, what they each take from their rekindling and how it affects DK overall relationship.
Yes! I’ve been pondering on the distinction between the three women, I agree with your take that Kory definitely harbors more confidence and self awareness compared to the other two.
It is also interesting to see the progression in her relationship with Dick from season 1 - 3. Kory continuously speaks her mind when she feels disrespected, and she definitely doesn’t put up with his shit like the other two did. That could actually be one of the many reasons why I find that Dick will eventually come around to reciprocating his feelings for her. Mainly because sure he is intrigued by “dangerous women” but he also has a soft spot for a woman who can call his ass out - taking into account the way he smirked after Kory told him to get his shit together with Barbara.
Trust is a foreign ideal for Dick and it is the center issue for all two of his previous relationships with Kory being the most recent. Which leaves me thinking, why the hell doesn’t this man get some help? Instead of jumping from woman to woman. However, his constant urge to rekindle his past flames could be a coping mechanism for his trauma and his way of seeking out closure.
And with the writers diving further into Kory’s past with Kom and their parents, I can see him ending with her as the new chapter in his life, officially shutting the doors on his past. Similarly to how Nightwing was supposed to be his sayonara to Gotham, but the writers screwed that up too.

Again another beautiful piece. Okay I have another prompt for you since I absolutely hate the prison storyline because IMO it was a waste of time: Kory forgets something in the tower and goes back running into Dick in the elevator as he is leaving. And let me know if this is becoming a bother to you then I will stop.
You’re so right anon the prison storyline WAS a waste of time. I hated it too and I hated how much they isolated Dick and Kory from each other when clearly they make each other better. Season 2 was a hot mess and I am happy to write little fix it fics for what could have been! And these are never a bother! I’m having fun writing them! Enjoy!
“Shit.” Kory mumbled midway between the entrance to Titan’s Tower and the car Faddei was waiting impatiently for her in. “I forgot my phone.” She said as she ran a frustrated hand through her hair.
“You’re not going to be needing that.” Faddei answered with a slight roll of his eyes.
“I’ll be right back.” Kory responded with a shake of her head. She wasn’t ready to fully disconnect from the Titans, her team, her family. No matter what was going on outside of the drama that was pulling them apart she still wanted to be there for her friends.
“Koriand’r!” Faddei called from the car window as he watched her open the door to the tower.
“Just park around the corner I’ll be right back!” She called over her shoulder before she disappeared inside.
She ran over to the elevator, slamming her hand on the button, willing it to move faster. This whole situation was one, big mess. Dick had told the Titans the truth and just like last time they left. Only Gar and Conner remained. Conner was a whole different situation, complicating things even more. Kory sighed in frustration, wishing she didn’t have to go. It couldn’t have been worse timing, but she couldn’t avoid Komand’r forever. She could feel the hum of her powers in her fingertips thinking of how the older Titans responded to the truth. Didn’t they realize they were all to blame? They all had a hand in Jericho’s destruction, but it just seemed easier to put the blame on Dick. It nearly tore her heart in two when Dick’s voice broke when he asked if she was leaving. She didn’t want him to think it was because she was angry or upset, but her problems were her own and she couldn’t burden him with her family trouble. She was hoping, after she sorted it all out, she could come back and help him work through it. She just needed time.
The elevator door opened and she was started when she nearly ran into Dick who was trying to come out of the elevator. They stumbled into the elevator, Dick’s hands going to her waist to steady her as the doors shit behind them.
“Kory?” He asked, perplexed by her sudden appearance.
“Dick?” She asked in return. She looked at the bag slung over his shoulders before she understood why he was in the elevator. “Where are you going?”
Dick tried to force a smile to his face, but it turned into more of a grimace as he looked at her. “It doesn’t matter.” He finally said.
“It does matter.” Kory said, her lips pressed in a thin line. “You’re just going to leave Gar and Conner all alone?”
“I left Gar with some instructions when Conner wakes up, he can handle it.” Dick responded as he pulled away from her, facing the front of the elevator.
Kory stared at him for a moment, shocked and upset that he would just leave after what the older Titans had put him through. How could he do the same thing to people that needed him. “You’re not leaving.” She said as the doors opened before she dragged him back into the hallway.
“Kory!” Dick said as the doors closed before he could step back into them. He turned to look at her, frustration evident in his brown eyes and the lines of his face. “So you get to leave like everyone else, but I have to stay?”
“I said I had something to take care of.” She argued, arms crossed over her chest. “That meant I was coming back.”
“The others were right.” Dick said, not looking at her. How could he look at her? She had been the only other person besides Gar who wasn’t afraid or angry about his past. It had hurt him more than he cared to admit when she had said goodbye. “It was a mistake starting the Titans again.”
“No,” Kory said as she placed a warm hand on his cheek, her thumb gentle rubbing over his skin, “it wasn’t. These kids need your help. Just because the others couldn’t handle or admit their hand in Jericho’s death doesn’t mean it’s all on you.”
Dick looked up at her. He could feel his heart beating out of his chest. Since she had returned he wanted to talk with her, talk about the unspoken things between them, but things were complicated and messy around them. He also felt like he didn’t deserve someone like her.
“Deathstroke delivered the final blow.” Kory continued when Dick remained silent. “And whatever that self righteous bastard thinks he’s doing is for the good of his son, then he didn’t really know Jericho at all. Jericho loved all of you.”
Dick felt a small smile come to his face as he watched the fiery and passion burn behind Kory’s dark, emerald eyes. He wanted, more than anything, for her to stay. “Do you have to go?” He asked selfishly.
Kory closed her eyes, her hand dropping to her side as she turned away from him. “My sister,” Kory said after a moment, “is sending people to find me. I have to figure out what her plan is, I can’t let anyone I care about here get hurt because of me.” She finished as she faced him again.
“Kory, let me-” Dick began.
She held up her hand to silence him. “I just need a few days. Then I can explain everything and maybe Gar and I can help you find some peace.” She said with a smile as she took a step towards him. “Please, just stay for a few days?”
Dick closed his eyes as she pulled him into a tight embrace. He hesitantly put his hands around her waist, her arms around his neck, before he melted into her touch, pulling her closer. He buried his face into her fiery hair. He missed being close with her, having her in his arms.
“Okay,” he whispered into her ear, “I’ll wait.” It would be hard for him to stay put, especially with all of his feelings swirling inside of him, but he trusted Kory. She wasn’t afraid of his darkness. She wanted to help him and now he needed to be there for her. “But call me if you need anything.” He said as they released each other, his hands still around her waist.
Kory gave him a warm smile. “I will.” She gave his arms a gentle squeeze before she ran to get her phone. She watched Dick give her a small wave from the hallway right before the elevator doors closed. Kory gripped her phone tightly in her hand. She was coming back, she told herself. No matter what, she was coming back.

Titans Season 2
I can't believe we're more than halfway through the season. It feels like barely anything has happened. I think the writers are juggling too many characters and plot threads. Conner isn't needed. Kory can fly in the comics and animated shows and movies. She could have easily been the one to save Jason. It would have been a good way for her to see that she has another power she didn't know about. Maybe she just felt compelled to go out there and didn't know she could fly. Her instincts just took over.
It feels like the writers don't know what to do, so they are going with a lot of characters and plot threads that are done superficially. Garth was largely unnecessary. They could have shown how intense Deathstroke is by just showing his psychological warfare in one episode summarizing the past. Last season the focus was on Dick and Rachel, with Kory and Gar mostly in the background. Now it's Dick front and center with everyone else in the background. He's pretty much the only one getting any character development (if you can say that).
If Rose is Deathstroke's plant in the Titans Tower, it won't be devastating. We've barely seen her interacting with the others. Sure, when she does she's planting seeds of doubt in their minds. Her mere presence has caused conflict. Mostly she seems to be in her room alone. She hasn't developed any relationships with anyone. So that feeling of betrayal will be missing.
I'm surprised that with the overwhelming positive reception of Anna Diop as Kory, her role seems to have been minimized rather than expanded. And there's a serious lack of DickKory happening this season.

Random thoughts on Titans 2x09.
Kory. The opening was a nice parallel to him being curious/confused/worried and not condemning her when she almost killed Rachel in season 1. I loved that when she looked at him there was only concern, because they haven’t known eachother long but I think she gets Dick has beaten himself up over this more than anyone else possibly could.
In that vein, Hank Hall. Go fuck yourself. Rose’s reaction, although this story is ultimately told through Dick’s POV, unfortunately makes sense. She doesn’t really know him, from her perspective this all must seem pretty awful. But again, fuck Hank and Dawn. Genuinely curious about Rose’s relationship with Joey though. It doesn’t seem like Adeline is her mother. Did they spend time together as kids?
Donna, my platonic soulmates tag. I was disappointed. I know in the comics they’ve had fights before, so I’m holding out hope that she’s just projecting her guilt over not listening to Jillian about the path vengeance leads you down and lying about needing to leave early and apologizes.
I’m not sold on Rachel leaving because she’s done with Dick. I think she just wanted to get away from the tower, probably to deal with her powers going haywire, and used Donna as a cover. Fingers crossed.
Adeline. I love Richard John Grayson with my whole heart, but I get her reaction to him. I feel like socially there’s a ton of unfair pressure to forgive, but sometimes it’s not okay. She has a right to her feelings. And realistically the person Dick (although this situation is so not all on him) needs forgiveness from the most is himself.
Gar, you sweet boy. You gave Dick the hug he desperately needed and I’m sorry you’ve got more angst coming. His life’s been so lonely, give him a storyline and a break. And I died because Conner knows what nuclear fission is but not what a tiger is.
That final scene. So...Joey’s possessing Dick, huh? And probably was in Slade too, that’s the only reason I can think Adeline let’s him hang around. Him going to jail has to be rock bottom right? He finally gets to start rebuilding now right?!?!? And like the therapy he desperately needs.
And Kory, my love. You deserve a better sister. May the others (not hank and dawn, they can choke) show her as much compassion as she’s shown them and be willing to help.

adrenaline; part four
Hello guys,
I've been suffering with a bit of writer's block which I'm sure is down to all the reading and lectures I've had to complete at uni but i am back on the grind (somewhat) so here we go!
It's kinda of a filler chapter to sort of moving it along for continuity but i felt it was important to have because I didn't want to be jumping all over the place. And I initially wanted this to be one chapter but it turned out to be way too long altogether (in my eyes for how uneventful it is) so I've just got some fact checking to do and I should be uploading another chapter tomorrow (hopefully) to move it along.
So that's it! Sorry for the long note but I thought some clarification would be good!
As always, show some love if you love. Thank you!

‘Tell us again, what happened?’
Jason gave Kory an exasperated sigh. He leaned back on the sofa in the living room and crossed his arms behind his head, looking every bit as tired as everyone felt. It had been about a week since the ordeal with Deathstroke. It seemed the event had triggered him back into hiding meaning that things had settled down on that front, at least for now. However, the same thing couldn’t be said for things back at the tower thanks to the new addition to the, as Dick had called it, ‘family.’
‘Like I said already, about a billion times. I was out for a walk and minding my own business. Next thing I know, I hear this lady screaming. So I go to check it out and some asshole is mugging her. Being Robin and all, I couldn’t not help her so I went to do just that. But then outta nowhere, mugger guy flies across the alley and Superboy here is standing in his place. He fights the guy and gets her purse back so problem solved and none of it is my business anymore. I go to walk away but then there’s gunshots and Superboy falls down so I call you guys and you know the story from there.’
Contrary to Jason’s words, this was only his third time relaying the tale, each time with a different group of people but hopefully this was last as everyone was present for the recounting. ‘Superboy’ as he’d so eloquently named him due to the dark Superman logo t-shirt he was wearing, lay in the infirmary with two bullet wounds and an infection none of them could identify. They were at a loss and it seemed like their patient was only getting worse which wasn’t at all helping the levels of tension in the tower. Everyone was growing more frustrated with not only the situation but with each other by the minute.
‘I don’t understand, we couldn’t even get a needle to pierce his skin so we could get his IV into him- how did he get shot?’ Dick mused, running a rough hand through his hair.
‘I don’t know man, I’m just telling you what I heard.’ Jason’s laidback position on the sofa stiffened, his eyes flashing like he was suddenly on guard. It was of no surprise to anyone that he was still on edge over what happened to him, being more reserved than ever and frequently disappearing for hours at a time to walk alone in the city. So it was almost predictable that something was going to happen with him. But, no one could have predicted that it was going to be this.
‘I know and I’m not trying to dispute what you’re saying. It just doesn’t make any sense.’ He exhaled a sharp breath, folding his arms.
The sudden high pitched screech of the security breach alarm reverberated around the room, capturing everyone’s attention. Dick reacted, first running to the intercom screen located at the front door to see a woman and what appeared to be a dog. Her body language didn’t seem dangerous but instead anxious, constantly moving her mousy hair back and shifting from one foot to the other.
‘Who are you? State your business.’ Dick spoke calmly but strongly; no matter how little of a threat she seemed, the protection of the team was paramount.
‘My name is Eve, I was brought here by my dog. I think you have my son Conner here. Please, let me in. I need to know if he’s okay.’
******************************************************************************************************
Conner Kent’s history was as big of a mindfuck as Kory’s. Yet everyone had adopted him with open arms anyway, another alien addition to the team - why not? And this was only made possible through Kory who had again saved another life. Unsurprisingly, she brushed it away as if it were nothing seeming to just add it to the tally of people alive thanks to her.
Still, Dick often wondered where they would all be without her. Definitely worse off than they were now.
In the few weeks since she had healed him, Kory and Conner had bonded in the ambiguity of their identity. Kory had told him on various occasions of how Conner reminded her of herself - being new to his powers, confused about his identity, unsure about his place on earth. But Dick had a feeling it went deeper than he knew, that they connected on a level that he was unaware of and he was lying if he said it didn’t fill him with a sick sense of insidious jealousy.
So there he sat in his office, thinking of that rather than the tactics of a possible Slade attack. He thought of all the times that he’d sought her out only to find her with Conner and have her brush him off to hang out with him. It was utterly ridiculous but he reminded him of everything Dick wished he was; he was soft and stable despite hardship, he didn’t have a shadow of darkness that clinging to him but instead existed on pure light - just like Kory.
It wouldn’t be so crazy to suggest that they would make a perfect fit.
He felt a particular spark of vexation when he remembered one specific evening where Kory had insisted they take the night off and had taken them to the sports bar on the corner of their street. He remembered how close Conner and her been together as he held her bag when she’d leaned over to take her shot. The striking red of her dress slipping away to show the alluring mahogany of her skin underneath, her hip pressing against his leg. He thought he was going to explode with anger and clock Conner right in the face but he held himself back on account of knowing how redundant that would be and the shitstorm he knew would cause after as a result. So he could do nothing but stew in his own futile anger until further notice.
‘Hey, how’s it going in here? How are the plans going?’
Kory sauntered into the room without knocking and settled herself on the edge of his desk, effectively obstructing his access to the keyboard of his computer. She flashed him a small smile as he looked up at her and he felt all the aggravation dissipate from his body, revelling in her proximity.
‘They’re going. I just hit a uh, mental snag.’ He admitted, not technically lying.
‘Well then, I guess, this might be a good a time as ever to do this then.’
‘Do what?’ Dick felt his heartbeat leap into a rapid pace, his mind conjuring multiple possibilities of what she could possibly say next; all of them awful.
‘Dick, look, uh listen, I have to go back to Tamaran.’
His blank expression had Kory’s heart sinking to her stomach. She hadn’t necessarily meant to catch him off guard but with the hurried pace of his blinking, she knew without a doubt that she had. She’d hoped with how absent she had been the past few weeks that he would notice her distance and either assume that was something was wrong and bring it up or at the very least be prepared for her to bring up a difficult conversation. But it didn’t seem as though either was happening.
‘Kory. what the fuck are you talking about? We need you here!’
‘You guys don’t need me, Dick, now that Connor’s here at least. It would be beneficial to have me but you don’t need me here.’ She let out and sad sigh and continued. ‘I have ordered some light therapy lamps with solar panels as the source. I researched them and they’re very good for something called Seasonal Affective Disorder but I figured they would help with Connor’s healing, on account of the solar energy. We’ve already tested it to know it’ll work so there’s nothing to worry about on that front.’
‘Oh Of course, super fantastic Conner, of course we can count on him to save the day! Come on, Kory! He’s just a kid!’ He scoffed.
‘What are you talking about? He’s not just a kid! Not to mention he has a multitude of powers and Slade doesn’t know about him. If anything he is your best bet at defeating him, especially with the way you’ve been training him these past couple of weeks.’
The more she spoke, the more Dick’s mouth flapped open and closed, clearly wanting to comment but knowing where to begin processing the information. The gradual scarlet highlight of his cheeks and ears let her know that this was going to be way harder than expected. So she continued speaking, hoping to get him breathing again and prevent whatever infarction was going to happen from his lack thereof.
‘Look, it would only be a maximum of a couple of weeks seeing as it doesn’t take very long to get to Tamaran from Earth, now my ship’s repaired. I’ll just go home and clear this whole situation up. Which shouldn’t be hard considering... I...am...royalty.’ Kory spoke the last word as if she didn’t at all want to, a hint of resentment coating it.
If she thought Dick’s reaction before was alarming, it had nothing on the spread of alabaster across his face at that moment .
‘Y-Wh-? Royalty? W-what you mean?’ He spluttered.
‘What else can you take from that? It is exactly what is says on the tin. I am Princess Koriand’r, next in line to the throne of Tamaran. So I need to go back and make sure that part of my past doesn’t come back to haunt us. Especially when we’re already in such a difficult position.’ Kory followed on but her reassurance seemed worthless because Dick looked on the verge keeling over.
‘Kory, I don’t like this. Please, please don’t do this. Please don’t leave me now. Don’t leave us now.’ He pleaded, leaning forward in his chair to grasp her thighs, desperation seeping through every cell of his being.
But Kory just clasped his head in her hands, pressing her lips to his quickly but gently before stroking her thumb across his jawline, a look of resolve on her face.
A look that said there was no changing her mind and he knew it.
Yet, there was a feeling of deep uneasiness in his stomach that if she left now, she wouldn’t come back to him. With his history, it was difficult to trust his gut instinct but this time, it felt so very real. The feeling of discomfort came with something deeper, not necessarily bad but definitely scarier. On some level he knew what it was and that he had felt it before a long time ago but he wasn’t prepared to address now, precisely when he could be losing her.
‘I’m sorry Dick.’ She whispered. ‘I have to do this. There are over 7 billion people on this planet and they could possibly die because of my actions -or lack there of- I can’t let that happen. I’m leaving in the morning and I’d really like it if you would say goodbye but I’d understand if you didn't.’
She let him go abruptly and stood towering over him, looking every bit the Princess she was. She gave him one last longing gaze before turning and Dick could do nothing but watch as she walked away from him, feeling his heart break a little more with every click of her heel.
As if she was stepping on his heart with each stride, cracking it further each time.

i like the show’s pacing for the most part. it’s in it for the long game, you know? it gets frustrating having to wait for multiple episodes to get payoff sometimes, but i think it works with all the different storylines they’re trying to weave together that not everything is wrapped up within the same ep (plus i feel like with so many shows geared towards binge streaming these days people just get impatient when they have no choice but to wait?? i watched a few eps in a row the other day while i was making gifs and it felt a lot more organic idk). they probably could have spent less time in flashbacks this season though tbh. like… the way they did the flashbacks last ep, just a few scenes sprinkled in, was more productive for the plot imo because it kept us up to date on what was going on in normal time too so i didn’t feel like i’d wasted a whole episode going nowhere u know?? also hawk and dove are interesting to me in a bubble on their own with their very human issues, but we’ve seen so much more of them than gar and kory this season that they feel like dead weight in comparison to much more interesting things like kory’s backstory and cadmus brainwashing gar and conner and dick’s journey to becoming nightwing u know?? and rose…. i have been given 0 motivation to care about her character tbh like yea she’s badass and i really wanted to like her but she hasn’t done anything notable all season aside from having 0 chemistry with jason (this could also be down to the fact that i straight up dont vibe with the way she talks like she’s always sighing, and her line delivery is kind of corny kdjnfdj) so i wouldn’t be mad if she wasn’t back for season 3 tbh, but if she is i hope she gets more to do and also a new wig lmao. i looove kory and gar’s arcs this season though. obv like everyone else i wish they got more screen time and more time with the titans as a unit (but again, this show is a slow burn to build the titans into the team we know they’ll become, so hopefully we’ll get into that next season now that they’re all realising they’re screwed when they’re separated), and i’m soooo here for the parallel between kory and dick’s stories of trying to tackle their problems alone and subsequently hitting rock bottom and finding their motivation to keep fighting and rising to become the heroes and leaders we know they’re going to be. and as much as it hurts to see gar suffer i can see the whole kill the boy and let the beast (boy) be born thing going on so hopefully when the team get him away from cadmus he gets a big mf HUG and also training scenes with dick because a) love seeing ryan getting to use his martial arts skills and b) love the idea of gar getting a scene reminiscent of allison in teen wolf when she says she doesn’t want to feel scared or weak or like she needs to be saved, she wants to feel powerful and in control. also more people paying attention to jason and rachel because these kids need GUIDANCE, and more people (kory namely, i’ve loved seeing them slowly opening up to each other over the course of the show) asking dick if he’s okay every now and again because we sure as shit aren’t ever going to see him in therapy.
ALSO more of the team wearing their suits when they’re out and about??????? i get that dick burned his robin suit so he had an excuse i guess but i dont get why donna/hank/dawn were cruising around in normal clothes when they went to face doctor light and motherfuckin DEATHSTROKE like..... why is jason the ONLY one who manages to equate going on a mission with suiting up???? no more of this creeping around in civilian clothing like...... dick you’re a fucking fugitive put your mask on PLEASE im begging u
#sorry this has been sitting in my inbox for days skdjnfks#i still got bulk dumbass thoughts tho#brando talks#Anonymous#asked

Thoughts on Titans Season 2 under the cut (for spoilers)
I love how they characterized the Wilson fam, for the most part.
Slade was pretty spot on, though I’m not sure why he insists on calling Joey Jericho dead around Rose, when Jericho is right there in his head. Maybe cause he wants Rose to think that so he can get revenge? So she stays on his side?
Speaking of which, how long has Rose known the truth? How did she find out?
Somewhere I swear I made a post about Rose actually working for Adeline the whole time (I’m still hoping the housemom persona is just a front. I want superspy!Adeline, dangit), but it’s not showing up. I’m not sold on Rose just letting Dad carve her eye out and just trusting him with the process. Now, if she was doing that to convince him she was on his side, and no one else’s I could see it. Unless she thought it wouldn’t be permanent, which, given her behavior in Ghosts, it’s possible. Mostly, I think they got Rose’s characterization right--pushing people away to protect them and herself, but her whole backstory with her dad doesn’t quite add up on its own.
Also, WHY DIDN’T WE GET MORE CLOSURE ON JERCHO’S ARC!? Is he still inside Rose? Does she go back to Adeline’s? Cause that would be fucking hilarious. Also, his body in a coma in a hospital somewhere? I have so many questions. He can’t stay in Rose because I want some Jeriwing action, dangit.
I was really nervous about Chella being a first time actor, but he KILLED it as Jericho. It was so fun seeing so many people fall in love with one of my all-time favorite superheroes. I love how they made him canonically bisexual from the start, made him a music nerd, and a sweet heart with just the right amount of snark. I love how they cast a deaf, genderqueer actor to play him. I really hope the writers bring Chella back specifically next season. More reasons for Jericho to get his fucking body back.
Also, it’s weird to me that the Titans screamed at Jason for planting shit in their rooms, and when they find out it was Rose and she apologizes, they forgive her just like that? Is it because of Jason’s near suicide that they grow up suddenly? It’s strange to me that the show didn’t explore this at all.
As much as I loved Gar, Conner, and the Cadmus arc, I really wish they saved it for Season 2. Slade was supposed to be the big bad, not a runner up. Kory could have saved Jason. I have no idea why she doesn’t fly on this show. Her losing her powers is interesting, but she seemingly still had all of them in that episode. And Gar could have had stuff to do besides supervising Conner. Gar wants to be a Titan more than anyone in that Tower. He would literally involve himself in everything if the writers allowed him to. In the comics, Gar craves attention and validation.
If Jason isn’t back on the team next season, we better get Red Hood & The Outlaws, is all I’m saying. And I want Jason and Rose to reconcile, not quickly, mind you, but in a Shit Is Happening And We Have To Work Together sort of way. ALSO JASON DIDN’T GET A HUG. WHERE IS THE RIOT HAPPENING? I WANT IN.
As for Blackfire being the big bad next season? I’m open to it. I hope they handle the story right. I’ve seen it handled poorly, even in the comics, more often than not. Kori is one of my favorite characters and Anna does her so much justice.
I also don’t really want Bruce Wayne involved at all. The whole point of the Titans is to not be involved with their mentors any longer. They’ve had two seasons--let them fight without the training wheels next time.
I didn’t want Donna to be the one to die, and I hate how it was accidental. Maybe they were making a point there, about war or whatever, but still. There are *cough* other OG Titans who really have told all they can of their story and are ready to retire, right? Right? You know who I’m talking about. Do they need to kill them off? Nah. Just give them their own show so I don’t have to watch them take up screen time I’d rather have focused on other characters. But if they insist, they need to die by a supervillian, imo. I’m a little sad that we didn’t get to see more of Donna fighting as an Amazon. And couldn’t she fly in the comics? Am I imagining that? Seeing her go toe to toe with Conner was AWESOME, though.
I still love Jason’s arc so, so much. We got to peak underneath all the jokes and the cockiness and see the fucked up kid who just wants people he can trust.
I also like Dick’s a lot. Did it take up too much screen time? Eh, maybe. But at least it was interesting. But he doesn’t have to save everyone all the time either. He shouldn’t have to. Give the other Titans time to shine and give Dick some time to see a fucking therapist. Also, give him more hugs. Preferably from Jericho.
Overall, I LOVED Titans. I literally started following everyone from the show on Instagram because I craved content in the 6 days between new episodes. It’s gonna be a long 10 months til season 3. It just frustrates me how much is left unsaid at the end.
