Digital Good Omens 2 Sountrack is coming out in 4 days! 🥳 CD version in October! :) ❤ Coming soon on vinyl…
Tumblr media
Out to Stream/Download from 25th August. Out on CD 13th October. Coming soon on vinyl…
David Arnold’s ‘end of the world’ complex and multi-genre soundtrack.
From the Award-winning composer of Sherlock and Casino Royale comes a follow up to the hugely successful, Emmy nominated Good Omens soundtrack.
Good Omens series 2 premiered on Prime Video on 28th July. The series follows the odd couple, angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tennant) in their quest to sabotage the end of the World. The six-episode sequel to the popular adaptation of the novel by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, concerns the Archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) arriving without his memories to Aziraphale’s bookshop. Aziraphale and Crowley attempt to find out what happened to Gabriel, whilst hiding him from Heaven and Hell, both eager to find him.
The Soundtrack
David Arnold’s soundtrack to Good Omens was first released in 2019 to favourable reviews, with BBC Music Magazine calling it “a rollicking trip to hell and back”. Blueprint Magazine described it as “a great listen” and Sci Fi Bulletin commented on “plenty of memorable themes” to conclude that “This is another work of art from Arnold”. At times nostalgic and eerie but always varied, beautiful and full of excitement, the Good Omens 2 soundtrack showcases Arnold’s every skill from his composer arsenal. Featured here are orchestral arrangements with sprinkling of Sugar Plum Fairy pizzicato and percussion, jaunty strings and mighty choral sweeps from Crouch End Festival Chorus. Added to the mix are rock guitar riffs, and psychedelic 70s sounds and all together they create a haunting otherworldly feel, complementing the fantasy and the quirky humour of the show. The spirited Waltz of the opening theme is also present in the second series and it wonderfully sets the scene for fantastical mayhem. In series 2, this robust, evocative, and funny music entity, becomes yet again another character in the story. Award-winning composer David Arnold is well known for his blockbuster scores, including Stargate, The Chronicles of Narnia: the Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Hot Fuzz, Paul, Independence Day, 2 Fast 2 Furious and Casino Royale as well as for his TV work such as Sherlock and Dracula. Also available: The original soundtrack to the first series of Good Omens >

As we had previously reported, Peter Cullen received Emmy’s Lifetime Achievement Award last night during the 2nd Annual Children’s and Family Emmys.
In a very emotive ceremony, Megatron’s voice Frank Welker presented the award and Mr. Cullen gave us a great and touching speech.
“And now, a time to thank my many Transformers fans and friends…with all my heart. We…are one.”
A totally well-deserved honor to the iconic voice of Optimus Prime as well as a tribute to all Mr.Cullen’s career.
--
"Transformers and Optimus Prime have become legendary. And Peter's iconic performance has made him not only part of the culture, but the undisputed and irreplaceable leader of the Autobots.
But it's not just his talent or that magnificent voice that we recognize. It's who he is. His honesty, his loyalty, his passion for his work, care for his friends, and his deep respect for the audience.
That's what's brought him here tonight."

In honor of the new season of 911 coming out this week i'll share my favorite thing about the previous season premiere, which was the big dramatic "will athena and bobby die in the cruise?!" vibe AS IF any writer would be stupid enough to kill off twice-nominated-to-the-Oscars Angela Bassett. As if the show could survive without two-time-Golden-Globe-winner Angela Bassett. As if the fandom would ever forgive them for writing off Prime Time Emmy Award winner Angela Bassett. She was nominated as one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People In The World, but sure, they might write her off for drama, right? I was never worried about Athena dying. I believe most human life is equal in value, but I also believe Angela Bassett's life is more valuable than the average human life. Sorry, not sorry.

Let’s chat about this for a moment. Many are blaming this on Netflix splitting the season like that did, meaning that only half of the season falls within the Emmy selection time frame. But that’s only part of a bigger issue. While Netflix did somewhat prevent anyone from the show being nominated for Emmys because of the split, there is also a huge bias against romance properties.
What I mean is no one was going to get nominated for writing, acting or directing anyway. Costumes and makeup might have been, but not the three categories mention. Hollywood and the guilds don’t think romance is a viable genre and they tend to look their noses down on it. Same with the superhero projects. I remember the absolute shock when Elizabeth Olsen received a nom for her performance in WandaVision. A much deserved nom because her performance was so layered and intense.
But with romance, it’s always been the genre that people ridicule and belittle - usually while consuming it like rabid dogs - it’s not “art” and therefore not “worthy”
Which is a damn shame. Bridgerton has become a phenomena, especially this season, and instead of focusing all the hardwork the day and crew put in providing a nuisanced, layered and lush show for people, they ignore it as fluff.
There is a bias against Netflix when it comes to awards. The studio system and the powers that be don’t appreciate Netflix or Amazon Prime, despite both being a huge force in filmmaking. I remember when a Netflix documentary was nominated, and won, an Oscar. People were livid. That opened the door for more respectful viewing but the noms are still slow to come.
I think several folks should be nominated for Emmys from Bridgerton, for wigs and costumes alone, but sadly it’s not to be this season. Maybe in the future the Emmy guild will yank that big old stick out of their collective asses about romance.
One can hope.

Real talk: I am of two minds about it, but it kind of bothers me that Nick seems to never promote RWRB. Not the glaad awards, not the podcast, now, not even this Emmy panel. What are your honest thoughts? Not looking for glib, I am really curious. It doesn't usually bother me, but this time, it kind of does.
truthfully i think people make too big of a deal about nick not promoting rwrb. By the time the strike was over, nick had other contractual things to promote.
if you ever doubt how much he cares about rwrb/henry just look at the two posts he put up post strike for bottoms and rwrb. he wrote this beautiful thought out post about Henry, where for jeff he just said "my favorite mother fucker" there's no doubt in my mind how important henry and rwrb are to him.
its actually super normal for an actor with multiple projects to not speak out them every chance they get. this is life. I really don't get why people expect him to talk about rwrb in tioy press. you don't want to pull attention from your new movie for an old one (even if they are on the same platform)
the gripe i do have, is prime had a category of "nick and anne in love" showing all their different romance movies but didn't list rwrb there. but that amazon, not nick.
