sigh i have thoughts of an modern au and i wanna yap (I’m sorry if this is annoying) paul driving & seeing pony from afar getting beat up (paul is still not over darry) and he knows how much darry loves his brother soooo he helps out pony to get closer to him and in turn get closer to darry again (bro wants his man back!) … but oops, weeks pass & Paul and pony get along like rlly well, paul realizes that underneath all his grease pony is a super good kid who deserves to get out of their fucking town… like pony isn’t hanging out the gang as much and they are all like ???? But pony is doing well in school and coming home before curfew so can they rlly complain… (thank u paul and ur mustang 🫡) but anyway time passes and the gang figures it out (thanks to marbit & cherrycola) and they are like pissed lowkey but pony is so happy ))): paul, Chet, Cherry, and Marcia like genuinely care about this kid ))):

I really hate art advice that treats itself as universal. Yes, using less sketchy lines CAN improve your skills. But you do not need to give up sketchy lines forever, because they are useful in certain situations -- like, for instance, sketchwork where you need to draw a subject very quickly. They can also just gel better with certain artists, tbh.

I am doing what works for me. You are probably doing what works for you, & every artist who swears by never erasing & only using continuous lines is doing what works for them. They are assuming that what works for them & makes their art good will, of course, work for everyone else -- but they don't know that, & they don't know you. You know you.

No advice is universal. Do not fall into the smoothness trap. Yes, do branch out on occasion -- but, mostly, do what works best for you.
