Watched the MLB movie and I just. I WANT to gush about it but the fact that Marinette’s regular voice actor and her singing voice actor sound SO different just took me out of it every time and left me feeling very disengaged;; At least Adrien’s singing voice kind of sounds like his speaking voice (and Gabriel’s is 👌 bc my king Keith Silverstein can actually sing and he can sing REALLY fucking well) but Marinette’s. The voices are COMPLETELY different and it threw me off every single time. Like obviously her singing voice is really good and I understand why they picked that person to do her songs but bro you could have at least TRIED to get someone that sounds similar to Cristina Vee. It drove me nuts every time she sang bc I was like “That is CLEARLY a different person entirely!!”

I’m realizing this might have been a dubbing issue but still 😭 I feel like I would have enjoyed the movie way more if it didn’t look like Marinette was lip syncing the entire time bc there was such a huge disconnect between her speaking and singing voice

So, I have this friend from choir while I was still in high school who's Genderfluid as well, which I love, (he uses He/They pronouns) and awhile ago, we made this cover of Bikini Bottom Day from The SpongeBob Musical, and it's definitely a few years old as it's from 2020.

Yes, while the world was in COVID lockdown, I was remotely making covers with my friends to keep my sanity, pffffft. Discovering this musical actually really helped during lockdown, because the songs are so lovely and fun, and it just makes you happier when you listen to it.

Anyway, I just wanted to share more covers I've done, and I actually still kind of like how it turned out?? There was definitely a period where I was embarrassed by it, but I think now, I really enjoy listening to it again.

I was The Narrator, SpongeBob, Gary, Patrick, Plankton, Karen, and Pearl. My friend was Squidward, Sandy, and Mr. Krabs. Plus, we both did all of the background vocals.

Tagging @br1ghtestlight just because he mentioned enjoying The SpongeBob Musical awhile back, and that reminded me that this cover existed.

op is well aware of anniversary live DVDs, but thank you for the well-intentioned note ♥ what i meant no CDs with the live versions of the actual music, not video. because imo they are so much better live than in studio recordings I haven't heard Cassis studio version in years literally akjfhsdaf and I know me ripping the live song from the DVD to listen to can't come close to the quality of an official live release and it is Unfathomable to not have at least one official live CD of this band :(

plus a million to loving concerts!!!* i mean, come on, it's essentially group stimming in public.

my sensory issues related to sound are generally strongest when sounds split my attention (e.g., i am trying to read but my partner is chewing gum, or multiple people are talking to me at the same time) and it makes me skip directly to rage :)))))))

however!

concerts are loud and immersive enough that my entire focus is on the sound and it's nearly impossible for other sounds to come in and try to demand my attention!

*that being said, if the sound quality is poorly mixed or the music is supposed to sound kinda scratchy, i WILL have a bad time and need to leave (*cough* weezer last night *cough*)
