I look at my shoes after 8 weeks and I'm like, eh, they're fine but I go ahead and order a new pair per the recurring calendar event that past James set up after figuring out why his feet were full of angry bees, and then I put the new pair on and every time I'm like oh, yeah.

The seasonal candle I like was on the shelf at Target this afternoon so I grabbed one, and when I got home I popped the lid off to smell it as I was putting it away and... nothing. So I stuck my nose in the candle I have out and nothing. So that's a fun thing.

Maisie Peters is opening for Kelsea Ballerini and they're coming to San Diego in March and I got a ticket and that made me happy.

The fact that Brock hates Drew is sooo funny to me but understandable tbh. Imagine being Brock. sometimes i like to think that horror comes to dust's room late at night just to talk to phantom papyrus. no he doesn't wanna talk to dust. horror probably doesn't even CARE if dust's awake at the asscrack of dawn or rambling off to the hallucination too loudly this late at night because he just wants to talk to phantom papyrus

horror's not delusional enough to believe that phantom paps is actually real and his own papyrus like dust does but sometimes he really wants to,,,, so just for these short moments between them he wants to pretend that the hallucination is his papyrus. that he gets to talk to his own brother before everything went to shit and before he ruined his brother's life. yeah sure phantom paps kinda says some crazy stuff that horror's papyrus never would back then but so what?? dust's papyrus is the closest thing he's got and at least he doesn't have to deal with the guilt at even LOOKING at his brother's face (the sunken eyesockets,,,, the uneven teeth,,,,, yeah no) because there's nothing there. horror doesn't have to do anything but keep his back turned to dust and just talk to papyrus through him

they both keep their backs turned to eachother when they do this because neither of them can stand looking at eachother. dust especially because hearing horror sound so much like how he was before. horror sounds so lighthearted and relaxed and just,,,,, normal that it almost reminds dust of himself. maybe if he closed his eyes and tuned out his own voice he could just imagine the moment being a conversation between himself and paps back then before he had to kill him over and over. dust doesn't want to have to look back and see horror's mutilated skull and his permanently replaced eye. he doesn't want the fake scenario he's choosing to indulge in right now to be broken

and then i think they talk like that for a long time; because horror has a lot to say to paps about himself and what he regrets and dust has a lot of reminiscing to do on the good old days before he lost himself :3

when you light up your cigarette from another person's cig it's called the same thing as fucking them in finnish. and. i was drinking with a couple of friends last weekend and now that i think about it there is something funny about standing outside in the cold and having someone ask me to fuck them (= light their cig with mine) in front of their partner bc it's funny (said partner has also done the same to me). and we were all joking and being silly but both me and the partner are the kind of people that are fun to tease and make fun of bc 1. we dont mind 2. we find it funny usually 3. we unfortunately make it v easy, so. anyways i offer the end of my 2nd cig to the person whose cig i lighted earlier bc i wasnt feeling it and they had just declined a full cigarette from their partner bc that was too much at that moment so the partner was jokingly like "whyd you take leevi's cig but not mine" the the convo took a weird turn and ended up in two people who are standing on both sides of me patting my head and leaning on me while calling me a good boy. obviously it doesnt sound as hot in finnish but if i didn't already have a praise kink that would have awakened something in me

all the while society conflates "being an adult" with "having a proper job" and "having money to make arbitrary Adult Purchases" disabled people who can't work - or can only work part time or can only do entry level baby jobs - will never be 'allowed' to be adults

you can say "being an adult is looking after yourself you don't have to have a job!!!" all you want but most people who say that will still assume anybody who doesn't either can't or won't 'look after themselves' actually. and every 'marker' of 'adulthood' that's observable and thus actually counts or whatever loops back around to... having a job and 'contributing' something

i think its very funny how embarrassingly down bad cquackity was for ccharlie Immediately right off the bat. maybe its just their limited improv/semi-lore screentime that enhances the feeling but like he literally just took him, taught him how to gamble for like 40 minutes and then immediately started saying shit like “you are my best friend you are the greatest friend that i have”. there was NOTHING gradual or reluctant about it he pretty much leaped into his arms without question

Whenever I think about which fandom I've been in has the best fics, it ends up being this weird split between The Witcher (Netflix) and Transformers? Like... The Witcher had a truly incredible average writing quality; it was significantly higher than pretty much any fandom I've been in before or since (at least during the time period I was doing the most and the widest reading, it might have changed in the times/parts of the fandom I wasn't there for), there are so many incredibly well-written fics, but at the same time, they were all... kind of the same? There are a lot of very technically-well-executed watch-Geralt-and-Jaskier-fall-in-love fics with excellent prose and characterization, and a lot of very good "fairytale" kind of fics, and a lot of very good modern AUs, but they were all pretty standard for fantasy and romance and, well, white TV slash fandom. And meanwhile Transformers was, like... it did not have a high average fic quality, there was a lot of... let's call it very beginner writing in that fandom, but the fics that were good were so insanely good and thoughtful and complex? There was barely any standard-slash-fandom-fic, it was all, like, about the aftermath of war and the politics of revolution and how you rebuild after that, and so many of them have stuck with me in a way that almost no other fics ever have...

Dethvanity is really funny to me conceptually as an episode because you can see how little they had to make the characters insecure about for the bit. They swing for obvious lowblow choices with Pickle' baldness and Nathan's weight and even those require some suspension of disbelief because ok. Sure. Nathan '(said extremely proudly) never skipped a meal in my life!' Explosion is insecure about being a big man now. Nathan *guy who everyone thinks is smoking hot 99% of the time* Explosion is a tiny bit larger than usual and is insecure about it now. Lol. Lmao even.

But anyway then we hit Skwisgaar and Toki and there's like NOTHING to swing for, you can see them going uhhh ok Skwis doesn't sleep he probably drinks a lot of coffee, and Toki? Shit, what does Toki have to be insecure about with his looks. He's perfect, he's adorable, he's ripped. Um. FUCK IT, HE'S DOING NOTHING BUT EATING LEMONS. WE GOT NOTHING, WE GOT NOTHING, JUST GIVE THE BOY CITRUS FRUITS.

Listening to the original cast recording and watching some pro-shoots of Cabaret and Fräulein Schneider is just everything? She sings a whole song to Cliff about how she's weathered everything she's lost in her life by settling for what she still has, and then two seconds later the Jewish guy next store offers her fruit and a little schnapps and Cliff watches her absolutely melt over it. Clings to outdated ideas of propriety in relationships even when it's heavily implied she had a long-term sexual relationship with a man outside of wedlock. Has a mean and hypocritical streak, particularly with Fräulein Kost. Considers herself the most practical person she knows but takes a total of thirty seconds to agree to marry Herr Schultz when he spontaneously proposes. And a good Schneider will both look at and sing to Schultz like he's the fucking sun.

And you want to hate her for ending the engagement after the brick goes through Schultz's window, but you just can't. She represents all of the people who hated the Nazis but stood by and did nothing, who abandoned the Jews in their time of great need, but how can you resent her for choosing the only way she knows how to survive? You die for love, you're still dead. And she gets the best song in the show, the Brechtian gut-punch of What would you do? that stands in front of the audience and asks them if they really would make a different choice.
