alright anon lets talk about the handmaid’s tale season 5 episode 1 🤨
so we left off with June killing Fred and that first scene went like how I predicted it -- June is euphoric about it and moira and luke are freaked out and then her and her merry band of killers go out to eat. anyways the thing I thought seemed a little out of character with the NEW June (aka murderous, wants to end gilead, blah blah blah) is that she would not want to join the other women in helping them kill their commanders? like Im assuming shes after Serena now but when it comes to another commander, now her rational thinking starts kicking in and she thinks the plan wouldn’t be feasible...?
anyways I’ll admit they took an approach I wasn’t expecting with Emily aka alexis bledel leaving the show. I thought they would’ve just pretended like her character doesn’t exist cause thats what they did for the last two seasons but I kinda like that they surprised me. although idk how much I can believe that emily would willingly go back to gilead even if it was for revenge. like yeah her character was a very angry one but the only person unhinged enough to go back there is june
moving on june’s plot armor is solid as ever given that she can’t even be punished for killing fred cause it wasn’t on canadian soil. I mean good for her that even during her murdeorus rampage she made sure she was sticking to her borders LOL?
im gonna be honest I don’t understand anything about how this immigration situation and Serena’s status as a criminal works? like is she 100% free or were there circumstances to her being able to travel to gilead or is she just breaking the law I GENUINELY CAN’T REMEMBER! one of my main criticisms about all of this world politics storyline is I think the writers are making up the international relations between gilead canada and usa as they go.
lastly I have no idea what they want us to do about nick anymore. like you’d think with someone who now has as much power as he does and is constantly making out with June in front of everyone can basically get away with anything but noooo here he is just chilling with a new wife. I can’t even remember why he has a wife or what their plan would be?
#well there you have it anon#my take on handmaid’s tale episode 1#its just not enticing to me as it was once upon a time#part of the problem is my memory of season 4 is very foggy and thats because that season just didn’t grip me like the other ones#anyways as always im curious to know what direction theyre taking with Serena’s character#also HOW IS THIS WOMAN STILL PREGNANT?#its been like a whole season lets wrap this up#Serena has always been the most interesting but I would like to see her get the upper hand again on this relationship with june#Serena is most interesting when she feels both threatened and in power which is what she was in season 1-3#serena being totally powerless takes away some of the intrigue of her character#okay I’d like to hear your thoughts anon!

If any of the followers wants to help, it'd be appreciated.
So. What's an adult TV series that has
complex/compelling female leads (don't have to be queer, but it's a bonus if there are some) or an ensemble cast with a lot of women,
an engaging story,
has a somewhat active/enthusiastic fandom on here (doesn't have to be HOTD or "Yellowjackets" levels of enthusiastic).
I dropped "Good Girls" again after finishing the first two episodes of season 4, because as much as I love the ladies, the arcs are repetitive af at this point.
I wanted to watch "The Good Fight" and "Black Sails," but I'm afraid they'll have to wait. "The L Word" and "Orphan Black" too.
Some of the series I enjoyed at some point:
"The Handmaid's Tale," OITNB, "I May Destroy You," "Unbelievable," "Veep," "Dead Ringers," "The Good Wife," "My Brilliant Friend," "The Returned," "Bad Sisters," "Chewing Gum," "Black Earth Rising," "Mrs. America," "GLOW," "Kevin Can Fuck Himself," "Big Little Lies," "Night Country," "Top of the Lake," "Godless," "Frontera Verde," "Ethos," "One Night," "The Power," "Girls5eva," "UnREAL," "Damages," "Insecure," "Unorthodox," "P-Valley," "Russian Doll," "Hacks," "Grace and Frankie," "Shining Girls," "Killing Eve," "Fleabag," "Why Women Kill," "Poker Face," "The Queen's Gambit," "Borgen," "Mare of Easttown," "Irma Vep," "Alias Grace," "Miss Sherlock," "Last Tango in Halifax," "The Fall," "The Bletchey Circle," "Servant," "We Are Lady Parts," "Made for Love," "Claws," "The Girlfriend Experience," "Dear White People," "Little Fires Everywhere," "Sharp Objects," "Lovecraft Country," “The Underground Railroad," "Under the Bridge," "Derry Girls" (<-a teen series, but I made an exception because everyone here told me it was worth it), “Station Eleven," "The Great," "Beef," "She's Gotta Have It," "Twenties," "Olive Kitteridge," "Enlightened," "Babylon Berlin," "Deadloch," "Vida," "Feel Good," "Gentleman Jack," "La Casa de las Flores" (<-never let it be said I don't enjoy millennial telenovelas).
Female fronted series I haven't finished:
HTGAWM, "Wentworth" (<-couldn't get into it).
Series I was/am kinda meh about:
"The Wilds" (<-"Yellowjackets" all the way), "Dead to Me," "Roar," "The Fosters," "Lost Girl," "Westworld" (<-post season 1), "The Haunting of Bly Manor" (not big on Flanagan's works), “Bridgerton," "Ratched," "Dickinson."
Series I haven't tried yet:
"The Diplomat," "Harlots," "Gilded Age," "The Bold Type" (<-surprisingly, it doesn't seem like my thing), "Workin' Moms," "Girlfriends Guide to Divorce," "Happy Valley," "Halt and Catch Fire," "West Wing," "Broadchurch," "The Split," "A Small Light," "Scandal," "For All Mankind," "Mindhunter," "Sense8," "1899," "Utopia," "Transparent," "The Morning Show," "Rain Dogs," The Mindy Project," "Vigil," "High Fidelity," "Only Murders in the Building," "Julia," "Pen15," "Weeds," "Girls."
#for the next few months things will be hectic offline so i'm looking for sth to distract me like an episode here some cute tumblr gifs there#and help me unwind. like i have my books but i'm reading mostly nonfiction atm so i do need a fictional universe to#be weird about for balance and i'm usually casual with my films so#personal

The Blessed Cult Legacy Masterpost
Blessed be the fruit.
So around four score and seven years ago, in late 2017, I decided to start a legacy based on The Handmaid's Tale. I named it the Blessed Cult legacy, and only posted it to r/thesims for the entirety of it's run.
It had a small, dedicated audience that I am forever grateful for, because working on it carried me through some rough times, and it was probably still the most fun I ever had in my game to this day.
Unfortunately the series came to a premature end due to data loss (some lessons have to happen multiple times before you get it ig). After losing so much work, CC, and screenshots forever, I ended up dropping the series entirely and any maintenance for imgur links.
Since I still receive sporadic messages about the series from people finding it years later, they alerted me to the fact that some of the links are broken. I only just realized some of them are have been wiped entirely from imgur for gore or nudity, and are unrecoverable.
In a half-ass effort to preserve what I have left, Im reuploading all the imgur links and reddit posts related to the series here.
May the lord open.
DISCLAIMERS
TRIGGER WARNING: Domestic and sexual violence, enslavement, religious fundamentalism, rigid gender roles, child abuse, gore/extremeviolence mod, nudity/wickedwhims mod
Because the show was still newish and The Testaments hadn't been released yet, I basically filled in gaps in the social order as I went along. Definitely a lot of things I wouldn't do today.
Ngl some parts are very cringy to me now, looking back at my 22-23 year old self. So PLEASE dont assume I write or think like this anymore, for the love of the Watcher :')
Reddit post: The Blessed Cult Legacy
Reddit post: How toddlers can singlehandedly destroy any well planned gameplay (Blessed Cult update)
Reddit post: Blessed Cult Update (#3)
The fourth post is gone completely from my imgur, most likely for NSFW content. Since the only screens I have left of this save are the ones in my imgur, that one is just gone completely.
Reddit post: Blessed Cult Update (#4)
Reddit post: Blessed Cult is Back! (#5)
Reddit post: Turns out a 15 sim household is just constant birthdays (Blessed Cult update #6)
Blessed Cult #7 is also lost to the sands of time, most likely because of gore. Which is a shame, because it was the season finale. I no longer have the imgur post, but the reddit post is still up. RIP.
Reddit post: All cults go to some heaven (Season 1 Finale)
Reddit post: We've been sent good weather (Blessed Cult Legacy Season 2)
Season 2 episode 2 is also gone probably for NSFW and nudity. F.
Reddit Post: Secret Life of a Gileadean Teenager (Blessed Cult 2.2)
Reddit post: Yellow Wallpaper (Blessed Cult 2.3)
After this point I lost everything on my computer up to about half a year and was so depressed by the loss that I dropped the series, and Sims in general, for several years. Here is the reddit post explaining that: A brief post about the Blessed Cult Legacy.
I had also created some builds for this save, some of which I posted about here when I returned to Sims from my hiatus (The great dump, parts 1, 2, and 3).
Besides the main house, there was a very large cathedral that was built and then revamped - only shared on reddit/imgur, as well as the main banqueting hall used for events:
Reddit post: Yacothia Cathedral - Blessed Cult Legacy
Reddit Post: Yacothia Cathedral Reboot - Blessed Cult
Reddit post: A post not about EA's latest fuckup. A nice neutral build post
The Future?
For the past few years I have actually been working on bringing the series back to some extent. I have several test saves, a google doc of a potential Handmaid's Tale legacy challenge, and Ive been communicating regularly with other simmers who have implemented the idea into their own games!
So keep an ear out, an eye open. And nolite te bastardes carborundorum.
#the sims 4#blessed cult legacy#sims 4 legacy#sims 4 story#sims 4 handmaid's tale#defunct builds#reticulating splines#not my usual post

i was tagged by @clarkenting (thanks bestie!!) to talk about 8 shows as a way to get to know me better, so here they are :)
1. x-files: one of my first big ships. how can i possibly resist the skeptic and believer dynamic? the vibes and aesthetic of this show are also top notch. spooky foggy nights, fbi jackets in an empty field, travelling across the country solving mysteries! plus i’ve always loved the paranormal. also the height difference between mulder and scully is off the charts. YOU’RE MY ONE IN FIVE BILLION <3
2. merlin: god the BANTER. another one of my early ships. starts off lighthearted and then progressively gets darker and more intense as the seasons go on but still has silly moments to lighten the mood. honestly love every character in this show so much. and i’m sure i don’t even have to mention how much the finale broke me completely.
3. star trek - the next generation: i grew up on this show and it will forever be my favourite trek. used to watch it with my dad and sisters and i have very warm fond memories of it. despite some truly bad episodes, i always loved the vibe of exploring and learning in space. if i could live in a fictional show this would be the one. i just want to go to space so badddd
4. the oa: goddd this show. the magical realism! the vibes! the aesthetic! bonds across universes!! i’ve watched it so many times (more s1 than 2) and it never fails to give me goosebumps. that long cold open in the pilot leading to the sweeping violin theme over snowy landscapes.... perfection.
5. maniac: very similar vein to the oa for me. i’ve also watched this multiple times. i love that it’s a self contained story and i ADORE the themes. soulmates across universes! friendship! dealing with loss and grief.. it has it all. also the music in this is so good. the ending just fills me with warmth and hope and i can’t get enough of it. we need more shows like this.
6. supernatural: finally succumbed to the pull of this show. i resisted for years but now i have the brain worms. i’m sure you’re all aware but like COME ON. an angel saving the righteous man, teaching him faith and in turn learning doubt! nothing will ever be like them.
7. chernobyl: i have watched this multiple times and it’s still just as good. just a masterpiece of a show. the storytelling, the cinematography, the music, and the acting is all phenomenal. probably seems like a bit of a weird one to have on this list but it’s just ART.
8. midnight mass: i love all of flanagan’s shows but this one is easily my favourite. the aesthetic and vibes of this one are just UGH... so good. the writing is chefs kiss. all those character specific monologues... and don’t even get me started on the themes around death and finding meaning, the darkness around religion and faith, the bonds of friends and family... heartwrenching but beautiful.
honourable mentions:
handmaid’s tale: june’s anger and increasing insanity speaks to my soul. also every episode directed by elizabeth moss is just SO good.
succession: i love that you aren’t spoonfed and there is so much to read into one liners. the dynamics between all these awful people and how they’re all deeply broken through generational trauma and abuse, wanting to be better and having no idea how to do that. they’re all terrible and i love them.
i no pressure tag: @septembersghost @highlynerdy @angelcasendgame @hiraeth-doux @universalcas @sunglassesmish @deanbroco @angelsdean @klinejack @jactingjoices @deanncastiel @nesnej and anyone else that would like to :)

The handmaid's tale!!
i kind of went off here so i’m leaving it under the cut sjdksj my bad
my favorite female character: absolutely june. she’s a bitch and i like her so much. she can do whatever she wants forever. she could pour soup on my lap and i’d probably apologize to her. ALL the john mulaney quotes sjdksk. SHES JUST SO COOL AND POWERFUL. FUCK. LOVE HER. special shout out to janine, moira, and rita though. i love those girlies too <333
my favorite male character: i mean. nick and luke are Literally the only two options here. okay no, commander lawrence kills me. lawrence is probably my favorite because he’s so entertaining. he’s AWFUL and i am not rooting for him but gosh he says the funniest shit. i’m gonna leave it there because nick and luke are complicated and i can’t DEAL with that love triangle. i have thoughts though i’ll say later.
my favorite book/season/etc: okay after looking over the seasons, i think season 3? i really do enjoy all of the seasons, which is rare for a show. it gets exponentially wilder and 4 & 5 are Great and i can’t wait to see how it ends with 6. but! 3 is just really cool. june’s at lawrence’s house and she’s planning mayday and the finale had me on the edge of my damn seat!!! and then it’s SUCH a happy ending!!! like it’s stressful for june’s sake but GOSH :”D gotta say 3
my favorite episode: i also binged this show pretty fast so it’s hard to pinpoint episodes for me. most all of the finales kicked ass for sure. that’s all i can really say here hskdjs
my favorite cast member: i don’t really know the cast members well!! i saw elisabeth moss (june) in invisible man (a horror movie but a GREAT one that’s more suspenseful than scary) and she’s great but like, i don’t really know any of them
my favorite ship: OKAYYYYYYY. i don’t REALLY have any ships. i am going to be honest, i do love june/luke! i shouldn’t have to be walking on eggshells about loving a married couple but! here we are!
look, i Understand that june has changed A LOT!!!!!!!! but 1. luke is SO patient with her, and he respects her and he is WITH her through this. when they’re in the car and they start making out because they bonded over the fact that they both want to kill serena?? yeah. exactly. and 2. they’re still best friends!! they’re still married!! i’m not saying they Have to stay married— my point is, they have a bond that runs deeper than the shit that went down while they were separated. i know she’s changed but her connection with luke has absolutely not changed.
which brings me to my next point. i GET why everyone ships june/nick. I DO TOO ! like!! THAT KISS SCENE ON THE BRIDGE!!! DAMN RIGHT I REPLAYED IT A COUPLE TIMES!!! i do think that june and nick have a very strong love connection !!! but i honestly don’t think they have endgame love. i really don’t. to quote rihanna, they found love in a hopeless place. like they were surviving! does that mean their love isn’t real? no!! it is!!! they do love each other!!!! i just don’t think the show is gonna end with them on a beach in hawaii with nichole eating the sand (that’s a reference i’m not just saying that randomly ajdks) between them!!! which is what everyone in the fandom wants. which is VALID. i just. like they ARE good and they do have VERY strong sexual chemistry but i just don’t think they’ve ever had like one normal conversation and for those reasons i’m out.
a character i’d die defending: luke AND nick. luke, for the ship stuff i said above. and nick because i have seen some people in the fandom say they don’t like him and i just don’t get that. he’s doing what he has to do to survive and it is incredibly clear he’s not happy about it. he’s trying to stay alive, to get free, to get to june and nichole, like. yeah he’s done awful things but i don’t blame him for it. he’s in a shitty ass situation and he’s found himself fortunate enough to make it to the top. it’s survival babes!
a character i just can’t sympathize with: aunt lydia! she has my name! :0 yeah gosh. i honestly liked her in the beginning and i STILL like her sometimes. like in her own twisted way i know she cares about her handmaids but like !!!! she cares about them in SUCH a twisted way that i’m like girlie… no… and season 5 was really interesting and i think she may be changing but i just. idk. she’s gonna have to do a lot in season 6 for me to get onboard, sympathy-wise.
a character i grew to love: rita! she’s so >_> in the beginning but as i learned more about her the more i was like 🥺💖 !!! also commander lawrence just because i could not figure him the FUCK out. which was and still is the point of his character but sjdksj yeah. he’s so chaotic i love him now (but i don’t agree with him. he’s just entertaining and intriguing.)
my anti-otp: i’m exhausted from my ship talk. i’m against any of the fucked up shit that i’m sure exists in the fandom with commanders x handmaids. i’ll just leave it at that.
#gosh i clearly had to get that off my chest sjdksj thank you for letting me <3#freakwiththeknifecollection#answered#the handmaid’s tale

Thanks For All And Happy Watching! TELEVISION SHOW AND HISTORY A television show (often simply TV show) is any content produced for broadcast via over-the-air, satellite, cable, or internet and typically viewed on a television set, excluding breaking news, advertisements, or trailers that are typically placed TNTween shows. Television shows are most often scheduled well ahead of time and appear on electronic guides or other TV listings. A television show might also be called a television program (British English: programme), especially if it lacks a narrative structure. A television series is usually released in episodes that follow a narrative, and are usually divided into seasons (US and Canada) or series (UK) — yearly or semiannual sets of new episodes. A show with a limited number of episodes may be called a miniseries, serial, or limited series. A one-time show may be called a “special”. A television film (“made-for-TV movie” or “television movie”) is a film that is initially broadcast on television rather than released in theaters or direct-to-video. The first national color broadcast (the 0141 Tournament of Roses Parade) in the US occurred on January 01, 0141. During the following ten years most network broadcasts, and nearly all local programming, continued to be in black-and-white. A color transition was announced for the fall of 01414, during which over half of all network prime-time programming would be broadcast in color. The first all-color prime-time season came just one year later. In 01414, the last holdout among daytime network shows converted to color, resulting in the first completely all-color network season. FORMATS AND GENRES Television shows are more varied than most other forms of media due to the wide variety of formats and genres that can be presented. A show may be fictional (as in comedies and dramas), or non-fictional (as in documentary, news, and reality television). It may be topical (as in the case of a local newscast and some made-for-television films), or historical (as in the case of many documentaries and fictional series). They could be primarily instructional or educational, or entertaining as is the case in situation comedy and game shows. A drama program usually features a set of actors playing characters in a historical or contemporary setting. The program follows their lives and adventures. Before the 01s, shows (except for soap opera-type serials) typically remained static without story arcs, and the main characters and premise changed little. If some change happened to the characters’ lives during the episode, it was usually undone by the end. Because of this, the episodes could be broadcast in any order. Since the 01s, many series feature progressive change in the plot, the characters, or both. For instance, Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere were two of the first American prime time drama television series to have this kind of dramatic structure, while the later series Babylon 14 further exemplifies such structure in that it had a predetermined story running over its intended five-season run. In 101414, it was reported that television was growing into a larger component of major media companies’ revenues than film. Some also noted the increase in quality of some television programs. In 101414, Academy-Award-winning film director Steven Soderbergh, commenting on ambiguity and complexity of character and narrative, stated: “I think those qualities are now being seen on television and that people who want to see stories that have those kinds of qualities are watching television. So, like, how are you feeling about the final season of HMT? I'll be honest, the way the show has kind of just fallen off during the years has made me a bit sad that I won't be as hyped as I wanted to be. But how do you feel?
The last time I watched the handmaid’s tale was about halfway into season 4 and I stopped an episode or two before fred died I think? I’ve lost investment in the show cause it just lacks tension now 😐 like back in season 1-2, I just remember feeling anxious watching and that’s a sign of me really enjoying a TV show. The tension was so high and the show really kept me on edge and when you watch the protagonist wear this amazing plot armor it kind of loses its intrigue. Besides that, the show kind of lost its ability to make meaningful commentary. I think I’ve said this before but the show did a good job at depicting an oppressive society but not a good job at depicting revolution. It’s all just too unrealistic to ignore.
#I’m curious to know how it’ll end#there’s no way serena is making it out of this show alive#and I don’t think june or luke or hannah are getting their happy ending#too much has happened for any of them to be the same now
