I do this in every Soulslike, I grab a normal sword, just a heap of metal with a handle, and I never fucking put it down. The game keeps giving me weird shit with wacky moves and status effects and they're all so cool looking, but I just fool around with them for a while and then go back to my vanilla ass weapon. Sorry, game designers, I'm sure your booster rocket glaive, mega-axe made of arms, and thunder god battery hammer are neat, but I'm going to poke all these monsters to death with an increasingly sharp toothpick like a tool.

After playing around in the Experimental Snapshot 1 for the last couple hours, I have successfully built a basic sculk-based XP farm that's simply a generic mob grinder at the top, with a stone generator at the bottom of the drop shaft and a sculk catalyst on the side at the level of the generated stone.
When mobs fall, they turn the stone into sculk, and the player stands at one end with a silk-touch hoe. The stone generator pushes the sculk in front of the player, who breaks it over a water stream leading to a hopper, and all the dropped blocks get deposited in a chest.
Issues so far:
--If you don't want your farm turning into one giant sculk block you have to use non-replaceable blocks for everything; I used polished deepslate
--Sometimes the catalyst will also generate the other blocks, like sensors and shriekers. They don't break when the blocks beneath them move, so there is a chance that a sensor and a shrieker could both generate and summon a warden.
This happened twice before I could figure out how to stop it -- my first instinct was just to put a water source up there and let it flow any other blocks directly to the player, but sculk blocks are not broken by water flow.
So my solution was simply to lay trapdoors over the top of the generated stone. This allows the the xp to reach the sculk and make it spread (half slabs blocked this,) and it keeps any of the other sculk blocks from generating.
--The one big issue I still have is that at times the mobs don't generate and die fast enough to convert the stone to sculk before it reaches the player. Thus, if you're afk, you might end up breaking stone with your hoe, which isn't ideal. So far my fix was just to set the clock for the stone generator to a very slow speed, but I'm sure someone out there can come up with a better idea.
Anyway, I am loving this snapshot and can't wait to see what people come up with!

So long as there's ice available, an entombed can create another undead monster by burying a creature and ensuring it fails to escape before its death.
Each entombed carries some facet of its personality in life, but twisted to cruelty and hostility to other living creatures. They may attack beings who resemble their family or friends, replicate patterns of behavior it had in life. Only humanoids can become entombed, and they wind up around the same size regardless of the original species. Halfling or goliath, an entombed stands approximately 11 feet tall, with two arms and two legs formed of thick slabs of ice and no distinctly separate head. The frozen corpse at its center does not move except for its eyes shifting to watch its enemies during battle.
Originally from the 3.5 Frostburn book. I'm not a huge fan of the name, but I don't have a good replacement for it. I also slowed down its ability to create spawn from 1d4 rounds to 24 hours, and required the creature to specifically die while buried in ice rather than just anyone killed by the creature. Hit: 12 (2d6+5) bludgeoning damage plus 7 (2d6) cold damage. Immure. The entombed attempts to burrow 5 feet down into ice, dragging a Medium or smaller creature grappled by it with it. The grappled creature must succeed on a DC 17 Strength saving throw or it is dragged down 5 feet into the ice. The buried target is blinded, restrained unless it has a burrow speed, unable to breath, and takes 22 (5d8) cold damage at the start of each of its turns. A humanoid that dies while buried by this ability rises 24 hours later as a free willed entombed. As an action, the buried creature or another creature within 5 feet of it can make a DC 15 Strength check, breaking the ice on a success.

I finally settled for buying Mending books at 26 emeralds a pop. Theoretically you can get them as low as 10, but I was tired.
Also, you know what I have settled near is an entire fucking village of weaponsmiths. There are at least half a dozen. And weaponsmiths buy flint at 1 emerald per 24, and now that I have a shovel with Fortune III on it, *all* the gravel I dig up with it turns to flint! So I can pretty quickly turn my chests full of gravel into flint (I'll probably use them to drain some ponds around the village at the same time, yay multitasking!) and max level all the weaponsmiths, and just acquire emeralds in bulk and put mending on *everything*. With my skeleton spawner farm, I can very quickly heal up any item that has Mending on it because skeletons drop so much more XP than fish.
(Also I have me a one-hit-kill diamond sword, with Smite V and Fire Aspect II and Looting III, which means I can take out the skeletons fast and get a *lot* of bones and arrows from them. This is fun. Basically all I need is Respiration on my helmet, Protection on my armor, various other enchants... I have a Silk Touch axe, which is helping me get emeralds faster by harvesting whole melons instead of a half melon's worth of slices, and a Silk Touch pickaxe which I can use to acquire coral from the warm ocean near spawn if I want, and a Fortune II pickaxe which needs to be Fortune III so I can get all the diamonds, and... lots of stuff.
At some point I want to try building with Minecraft obsidian. It's so velvety-looking. I'm not sure what I'd build, but it looks really nifty. The glowing obsidian is cool too. And I have at least three ruined Nether portals located on my starting map, so that's neat. I'd want Efficiency V on my diamond pickaxe though because mining obsidian takes for fucking ever.
I need an iron farm soon but villagers are a royal pain in the ass, and you need *twenty* of the little fuckers for the best rates. Also it has to be located so far from anything else villager-tech-ish, but close to someplace you'll be spending a lot of time. I'm not sure where I'd put it.
(Also it's ugly as fuck with the whole box-in-the-sky thing. I might want to build it of something besides cobblestone. I'm not sure what though, because it takes eleven stacks minimum just for the basic structure, and somehow I feel like trying to source 700 obsidian blocks would not be a good plan. How do you decorate a box in the sky anyway?
Um. I wonder if it has to be anything in particular. I guess if one is going to be in unpeaceful then the blast resistance of the building materials becomes a concern, in case of creepers, especially if the interior of the iron farm is not well lit. Hm. I think I would definitely want to use jack o'lanterns as part of the floor of the upper platform, so that everything would be well lit at all times and I would not have monsters lowering my iron rates.
I bet I could build an iron farm out of like rainbow wool though. That could be *fun*. I know iron golems can't spawn on glass but I think it can be any solid non-transparent block. I'll have to check. I would have less objection to a giant queer rainbow box in the sky. Also wool is cheap. And carpet blocks spawns on the edges just as well as slabs, I would think, while being easier to navigate around. I guess the only question is if the cats can get out over the carpet.
