Going to college as a nontraditional student with an office job is kinda funny bc now when a professor messes things up in a way that fucks me over instead of being like "omg this authority figure is so unfair 😭" I'm approaching it more with the vibe of like "if Karen from Accounting doesn't fix this mistake that's hindering my work after my third passive aggressive email I'm going to CC her boss"

#my professor has multiple things messed up on her online course that are actively preventing me from preparing for the midterm exam #1. the notes she uploaded for last weeks lesson are in an unviewable format (its a .bin file? she converted an image to binary code??)#2. she hasnt uploaded the content for this weeks lesson yet. and that content is going to be tested on the midterm #3. both her syllabus and the review guide she uploaded mention a pre-midterm test thats worth 2% of our grade #and i think is supposed to help us prepare. but she hasnt uploaded that or even mentioned it at all?#4. the exam itself isnt in blackboard yet. which wouldnt really be a cause for alarm if it was any other professor #i would just assume they were probably waiting to upload it until the day of the exam #but given everything else shes messed up so far im worried she messed something up with that too and it wont get uploaded at all #so. she said in the syllabus that we should message her directly in blackboard with any questions and she'll respond within 48 hours #but my first message was sent on friday. it is now tuesday #she said to send a follow up if she doesnt respond within 48 hours. i sent a follow up yesterday morning and she still hasnt responded #and im not going to wait another 48 hours when the exam is in 3 days and she still hasnt even uploaded the final lesson that will be on it #so. shes getting a text from me at the phone number she listed now like #if she doesnt respond to that within a few hours then i might call #and if she doesnt respond to THAT then im going to put it in an email and CC the head of her department or smth #bc we NEED to be able to prepare for the midterm. its THIS WEEK. some people are actually scheduled only TWO days from now #its already bullshit that shes including this lesson on the midterm when the due date for it is AFTER the exam #but then shes also THREE DAYS LATE (so far) uploading it??#AND she hasnt uploaded the pre-test or even mentioned it at all???#rambling #this professor is gonna get a BAD review from me man #its already bad enough that her online course is structured so poorly that its hard to even tell what we should be doing each week #and now this shit

slowly but surely… 😔🥀🥀 another wip of my wintersberg piece

#trained so well in the gym yesterday that my whole body now hurts... i added weight to a lot of exercises #and yesterday i did a deep push-up from knees for the first time!! i did push-ups right to the floor! i've never been able to do this before #bc i've always had weak arms but the exercises in the gym helped me achieve this i was so glad 😭😭😭#although my right hand with suspected carpal tunnel syndrome was unhappy 😵‍💫😵‍💫 it began to hurt... but!! if usually it can hurt for #half a day after push-ups then this time it was for only a minute - exercises with an expander helped me! i do it for a two weeks now almost #everyday. i'm so glad that exercise is effective in my life and has a positive effect on my health. i really like to do this #train thinking about my favorite imaginary men thinking “i want to be like them” lol 😭😭#and listening to either a bimbo playlist or some hard rock where they yell in your ears ahaha nothing in between #0039pf shitposts #wintersberg #re8 #karl heisenberg #resident evil #re8 heisenberg

#ok but fr marking undergrad essays is such a rollercoaster #i gave two very high marks today and was genuinely impressed and then the next three i marked were practically incoherent #one just copy and pasted their intro instead of writing a conclusion. like it's verbatim the same paragraph #i dont mark down for minor grammar and syntax errors because there's a high rate of ESL students...#... but some of the papers from native english speakers have me more concerned about functional illiteracy than I've ever been #these are 19-20yos in a humanities field at a top university! even the highest scoring essay had basic basic grammar errors and vocab misuse #at least i could tell what the student was trying to say there but some of the others...#if your punctuation and spelling and syntax are all so bad that i literally cant tell what you're trying to say there is a serious problem #even setting aside how many errors like these there were there's the flip side of the issue: actually writing an essay #the last one i marked yesterday had no structure or thesis or secondary sources #everything between the intro and conclusion was the same claim phrased in different ways with some irrelevant non sequitur quotes thrown in #no analysis other than the words 'analysis of this shows' which is *gasp* not a substitute for analysis #OH AND OMG #one made a direct claim about a figure's political stance and attached a footnote. i went to see what the student's source was.#the footnote literally said something like 'i know i should have a source here but it's only context and i don't want to waste my word count #like what???? do you think claims about relevant context don't need evidence??? and the audacity to not give a citation...#... and claim it's because it would take too many words away from your main argument??#just providing the actual citation for the claim would have been 3-5 words max but the footnote about not having room was 30 words #kid do you think i can't tell that you dont have that citation? do you think anyone's buying that you didn't include it to save space?#it's the very first footnote and most of the others are full-length bibliography entries jammed into the footnotes (which we don't require)#so either you were 'worried about space' at the first footnote then changed your mind as you wasted 250 words on unnecessary formatting #or you were over the word limit and were like 'gotta cut something!' and the only footnote you 'simplified for space' was a short basic one #^assuming i believed you. which i dont. because why would you think that would fool anyone.#i still have half the essays left. im tired and so disappointed in how little we're told we should expect from them

so anyway this dream about ilkka, sharing to hopefully give someone a chuckle, first just some random appearances on shows but at one point he was the doctor on doctor who (which, i had a similar dream with george funnily enough) except he wasn't...him. he was peter capaldi. it was like. revealed that he and peter capaldi were the same person.

#i'd be laughing about it but i am aware my body is getting increasingly panicked.#what's funny is we had a call off-ish situation yesterday and i think i was so tired from my anti anxiety meds #that i was able to go back to sleep yet this morning...anxiety attack #one of my first shift techs called off and then my only current second shift tech #my third shift tech is going to come in early but i'm looking at a 12 hour day #my boss might be able to help but like. she's the manager and has her own shit to do and i need to get caught up on work anyway #so why not just pull another 12 hour day i won't get paid for #thank god i'm seeing my doctor in two weeks even though she'll yell at me for being fat but maybe i can get more anti-anxiety pills #cause man. i have been needing them this past week and a half #i thought things were finally calming yesterday why the fuck man #and like. don't get me wrong i do feel bad for my employees and their reasons for call offs #but the amount of call offs is getting a bit ridiculous and i know i can't control that but GAHHHHHHHHHHH fuck
