“here,” you murmur, smiling at nanami before setting the mug of coffee down on the nightstand beside him, “just how you like it.”
it’s a routine by now.
every day, at nine am sharp, you rise from your side of the bed, adjust the curtains so the small peek of light from the cracks doesn’t disturb him as he sleeps, hum the same little tune as you shuffle out of the room, and you make his coffee. it’s the same every morning—black with two spoons of sugar—and sometimes, it’s the only thing that feels the same for nanami since he’s come home from that day.
nanami doesn’t talk about the scars on his body. he doesn’t even really tell you details of how he got them after the incident. the only thing you really know is that it was bad, that he was half dead and half gone. he’d even left a voicemail—you still have it saved on your phone. he remembers walking through the pain, faintly thinking about how he couldn’t see through his left eye, and he thinks for a moment that he’ll die. he realizes that his goodbye kiss that morning would be the last kiss he’d ever give you, so he makes sure to part with at least one final piece of him before he does.
but somehow, he wakes up. he opens his eye—one of them is permanently gone—and he sees you tearily gasp and shoko breathe in relief. and then he realizes he’s alive.
“you should drink it while it’s hot, kento,” you say gently, carefully, like the wrong words are hot water to sunburnt skin. and you suppose they are—just that these burns are far worse.
he only hums, sitting up with his back against the bed frame and his eye still trained on his phone in his hands. nanami’s never really been one to use his phone longer than he absolutely needs to, but these days it serves as a good reason not to look up and meet your eyes—a perfect excuse to hide that very visible side of him he just can’t ignore.
“thank you, love,” he mumbles.
“what do you want for breakfast? i can make—”
“i’ll eat later,” he says quietly. hallow. “you can go ahead and eat without me.”
nanami kento has never really dwelled on whether or not he’s attractive. not before missing half of his face, and certainly not after—that much hasn’t changed. what has changed, however, is that he now dwells on how unattractive he is. he stares a little extra longer in the mirror, walks a little extra faster when he strides past you, is a little extra cautious to make sure you’re never on his left side. you pretend you don’t feel him stiffen under your touch, and he pretends he doesn’t notice your eyes dim every time.
on most nights, he has the same recurring dream. one of a wedding—with pictures of you both gathered around by laughing friends and family, pictures on the wall in a house of your wide smile and his soft eyes staring at you. pictures that he’ll someday show your children, pictures your children will someday show their children, pictures that are worth reminiscing over.
but then, just as his hand reaches for the frame of one, the same agonizing burn from that day spreads through his cheek, down his neck and arm, and stops just at his hip until he’s left numb on one whole side of his torso. then he’ll glance back at the photos, and suddenly, the same sunken hollows of his bones and the same marred skin of his face greet him. he wakes up every time to you beside him, watches the rising and falling of your unconscious figure that’s noticeably closer to him as you find him in your sleep each night despite him maintaining distance.
he often thinks about the vacation photos you’ll never get to take, the family albums you’ll never get to make together, and sometimes, nanami wonders if he really is alive and well when he grieves for himself. he grieves for everything he ever was. everything he ever could’ve been.
“kento,” you sigh, making yourself comfortable on the mattress, right next to his figure as your arm presses against his. it’s quiet—but it’s not the same comfortable silence you’re used to with nanami. he’s not the same tall and steady mountain—now, you think, he’s just an ant pile on the ground, too easy to kick away as you pass by like it was never there. “come have breakfast with me,” you insist.
“i’m not too hungry right now,” he says instantly. he doesn’t let you hear any emotion to his words, doesn’t give you a lot of opportunities to pick up on how he’s feeling or what’s on his mind. it’s an added burden, he supposes—asides from caring for his wounds, asides from pretending like you’re fine and things are okay, you have to deal with all the feelings he can’t seem to handle himself.
nanami has only shown you a vulnerable side once since he’s come home. it’s after the first time he tries to take a shower, when the water pelting against his raw skin hurts too much for him to handle, when the heat of the water burns at the sore spots. he has to take a bath instead, so you help him wash his body gently, carefully rubbing over the skin with a washcloth like you would a newborn. he lays on your chest that night, clutches at your shirt and slots his body between your legs while you kiss his forehead and rub his back until he sleeps.
after that, he sleeps on his side of the bed every night, and he doesn’t dare let himself cross over to yours. you try to stay on your half of the mattress until he’s ready, but you can’t control the way your body seeks his out in your sleep. by morning, you’re curled around his good arm, and he’s painfully stiff on his back as he sleeps, not moved an inch from the night before.
“kento, you never skip breakfast. you’ve always lectured me when i try to,” you furrow your brows, “just eat a little.”
“i’ll eat later,” he repeats, a tad bit firmer this time. you sigh before pulling the covers over your legs and settling deeper into the mattress.
“fine,” you huff, “i’ll just wait for you.”
“don’t be stubborn,” he frowns.
“i’m not.”
you pinch your nose, rubbing over the bridge to collect yourself. you try to be patient with nanami. he’s always been patient with you, always gentle and kind even when he’s tired. he needs you now, so you try to do the same for him—try to be as perfect for him as he would be for you if the roles were reversed.
but it’s hard for you too.
it’s hard to see the shell of the man you used to know. you love nanami even with taut skin and rough scars. you love nanami even with an eye patch and a trembling hand. you love nanami even with distant words and scarce touches. you love nanami even if he doesn’t want to deserve your love, and you’ll keep loving nanami until he loves himself too.
but it doesn’t stop you from growing impatient some days.
“kento, the only one being stubborn is you,” you say frustratedly, the slightly irritated exhale you try to hide does not go unnoticed by him.
he sets his phone down and looks at you fully for the first time in a long while.
“i’m not,” he says dryly, “you can eat without me, i said i’ll eat later.”
“and you can join me for once instead of sitting here and feeling bad for yourself.” he doesn’t say anything after that.
you wonder for a moment if you’ve gone a little too far, if you’re making things about yourself when they should be about him. you wonder if you’re selfish, if you hope he’ll heal for the sake of healing, or for the sake of being your kento again. you suppose maybe both.
but then you wonder if maybe he’ll ever even be the same kento again. but you think you’ll love this kento just as much as the old one—you think you’ll love every version of kento in every life.
“i’m fine,” is all he says.
nanami does not want to have breakfast with you. it’s not because he doesn’t like being around you—on most nights, he counts his blessings that you’re still climbing into bed beside him instead of packing your bags and walking away. it would be the easy thing to do, and he wouldn't blame you. maybe then, you might have a semblance of a normal life, a normal husband who doesn’t—didn’t, he couldn’t go back now—fight cursed blobs for a living. a wedding with happy pictures. a house with photos on the wall. children with a father they can go to the park with. family vacation albums you can put together.
it’s all things he’s robbed you of, all things he let burn away along with the healthy flesh he used to have. he knows that if he tells you this, you’ll insist nothing’s changed. but paper does not smooth down no matter how flat you press it after being crumpled, nanami kento knows this better than anyone else.
he doesn’t want to have breakfast—he can’t stomach the idea of sitting across from you at the table, of feeling the aftershocks of failing you first thing in the morning. lunch and dinner are hard enough as is, and he doesn’t want to skip those and offer you lonely meals along with the pain and suffering he’s already brought onto you through his injuries. he also doesn’t want you to have to stare at his pink flesh and pathetic eye patch and trembling hand. he doesn’t want you to realize you’re stuck, bound to a cage to care for a flightless bird when you deserve the sun’s rays and the wind blowing between your own feathers.
perhaps if he’d died, you’d have mourned him for a year or two. maybe three. perhaps if he’d died, you’d keep one of the ties he’s always worn—the ones you can’t help but tease—and keep them in a box with a photo. maybe you’d meet someone new, someone who’d teach you how to laugh again, to smile and feel the wind on your face and the grass between your toes. maybe you’d get married and throw the bouquet with a sweet laugh and hopeful eyes. maybe you’d move on and be happy—and if he got lucky, maybe you’d take out the picture and tie from time to time, looking back and remembering him too.
but now you’re stuck somewhere in between a stranger and the man you love, he thinks. and he’s stuck somewhere in between the living and the dead.
“you’re not fine, kento,” you sigh, shuffling closer until you can hug his arm. he lets you, looks down at his lap and lets himself ignore his mind screaming no in favor of feeling you press your warmth against him. truth be told, he misses your touch—he just can’t find it in him to let himself have it. “and you don’t have to be. not right now, at least. but someday—”
“someday, i’ll have even more regrets than today,” he says skeptically.
the sun pours through the small cracks of the curtain, hitting the skin he desperately wants to hide. he almost feels the ghost of a lone tear in the eye he doesn’t have.
“no,” you say firmly, reaching to cup his cheek and turning him to face you. you trail your thumb over the scarred skin, rubbing over what would’ve been the apple of his cheek like you always do, like nothing’s changed. “kento, you’re alive. you have things to live for,” you say softly, leaning and pressing a kiss under his eye patch.
and when a single tear rolls down the eye he does have, you catch it with your thumb and rub it away.
“not a wedding,” he mumbles.
“why not?” you tilt your head in confusion, “you…you don’t want to get married?”
“of course, i do,” nanami says quickly. he pauses, ponders his words for a moment before he decides to turn his body and face you fully. “i’m sorry,” he offers with a strained voice.
“what are you apologizing for, kento?”
“you won’t have the pictures you wanted. we won’t have photos on the walls, or vacation albums, or—”
“of course, we will,” you argue, furrowing your brows like the words he’s uttered are completely absurd. he shakes his head, running a hand through his hair—thankfully, that’s grown back in full, otherwise he doesn’t think he’d go out in public at all. the stares from people are expected, but he thinks the looks he’d get from being half bald might just have been a bit too much to handle. “kento, we can still do all the things we wanted. nothing’s changed.”
“everything’s changed,” he clenches his jaw, “i’d ruin them. the pictures, the moments. everything. if we had kids, i couldn’t even take them to the park, or drop them off at school, or pick them up. they’d get bullied by the other kids, the parents would whisper about you. i’d ruin it all. i am ruining—”
he doesn’t get to finish that last statement.
you climb onto his lap, cupping his cheeks with both hands and silencing him with a kiss. he doesn’t hesitate to kiss you back even if he doesn’t understand how you can be kissing him in the first place. it’s like muscle memory. it’s involuntary, the way his lips mold against yours. like the way his heart pumps blood and his lungs breathe in air, like a compass points north and the sun sets west, nanami kento’s lips press back against yours as firmly as he can without fail.
“not to me,” you whisper against him as you stop to breathe, “you wouldn’t ruin a thing to me. our pictures would be perfect, and our vacation albums too. our kids would be lucky. i’m lucky, kento,” your voice wavers. your eyes are glossy and your lips are trembling. you clutch his shirt this time, inching yourself closer until all that’s left is to climb into his skin. you’d do it if you could—scars and all. “i’m lucky you’re here, i’m lucky you’re alive. that you’ll scold me to go to bed on time at night. that you’ll make sure i don’t leave the house on an empty stomach in the morning. that you’re here to let me untie that awful tie of yours or hang your coat when you come home. that i don’t have to sleep alone. that i get to take bubble baths while you wash my back. that we can hold hands while we watch a movie. that you’re here kento—with me. i’m not…i don’t have to be alone. i’m alone when you’re gone,” you croak, tears slipping past your cheeks and splashing onto his shirt under you. “i don’t…i don’t wanna be alone. without you.”
it’s nanami who kisses you this time—and it’s the first time he kisses you himself, the first time he closes the gap and presses his lips to your own since he’s come home. he pulls your body flush against him, trying to make up for the time he’s kept you away. you kiss him back hard, silent streams of tears running down your face as you desperately taste him on your tongue. it’s a messy kiss, not like most of the kisses you’ve shared with nanami. this kiss tastes like narrowly missing death, like the reaper’s scythe misses by a hair, like heaven has closed its gates to grant you one more day on earth.
you pull away first, and he almost protests until you kiss under his eyepatch again. you trail your lips down his cheek and jaw, littering soft pecks along the raised skin of his neck while he breathes heavier. he lets out a shaky breath when you gently lift the hem of his shirt up slightly, waiting for his approval—and he almost wants the pull the covers over his body and shut his eyes and sleep again, but he decides to take a chance and let you peel his shirt from his body.
he doesn’t meet your eyes. he can’t. not when you’re staring down at his skin, tracing along the line that separates healthy flesh from scarred—along the line that separates his past from the present. and then you cross over to the side that’s not so perfect, that’s not smooth and promising under your touch, the side that’s rough and tight and a reminder of things he failed to do—and you kiss it.
“you’re beautiful. perfect,” you murmur as you kiss along his collarbone, all the way to his shoulder and back again, down his chest and along his abs, right to his waist where you press one last kiss to his hipbone sweetly. he’s panting by now, and nanami is more than a little embarrassed that he’s as hard as he is from something as little as affection.
but your lips are so near where he needs them so badly—and it’s been ages since he’s let himself indulge in anything sexual. even on his own.
“can i?” you hum, making him groan when you roll your palm over his crotch, feeling his erection poking through his pants. he lets his head fall back, lets his hands clutch the sheets under them as you untuck him from his pants when he nods. “missed you, kento,” you murmur, kissing the head of his cock.
the gesture makes him shudder, a weak grunt falling from his lips as he breathes heavier, letting out a soft groan when you smear the dribbling pre cum from his tip along his length. he’s sensitive, you note, more than he usually is—maybe it’s from not doing this for so long, maybe it’s from finally letting himself indulge in your touch after avoiding it, maybe it’s from the excitement that you still want him enough to do this. whatever it is, nanami moans softly when you stroke him slowly, chest rising and falling as you squeeze the base of his cock with every drag of your fist, cursing when you lean and press a small kiss to his inner thigh from your spot between his legs.
he spreads them a bit wider to make more room for you. he’s on what used to be your side of the bed—he lays there the first night so his burns aren’t next to you, and you don’t have it in you to protest. looking up to meet his gaze, you smile gently at him.
“do you want to stop?” you ask as you rub his thigh soothingly, “we don’t have to if you—”
“no,” he pants, “just…i…i’d like to keep going,” he says quietly. with that, you shoot him a bright grin, one that makes his heart flutter in his chest and his cock twitch between his legs. you pump him a few more times in your hand before leaning in to press a kiss to his tip once more, this time swirling your tongue around the fat head of his cock, gliding through his slit. he groans, low and deep from his chest, lets a hand fall to your head while the other fists the sheets.
“love you, kento. i love you,” you murmur, and then you’re taking him in your mouth, wrapping your lips around his length and swallowing around him. he bucks his hips on instinct, gasping when your hand comes to fondle with his balls, massaging them gently while you bob your head up and down his cock.
“f-fuck,” he rasps, “feels…feels good,” he breathes, closing his good eye and letting his head fall against the frame of the bed. you hum around him, the vibrations making him twitch slightly above you before you pick up the pace.
it’s messy, the way you loosen your jaw and fuck him with your mouth, the way his tip hits the back of your throat as a mix of your drool and his pre cum drips down your chin. he lets out a breathy whine when your tongue drags along the vein under his cock—he’s always been sensitive there. you still know him like the back of your hand, like he’s the same, like he’s not a stranger but the man you love, like nothing’s changed.
nanami has felt the warmth of your mouth pull him into blinding pleasure more times than he can count, but he never thought something so vulgar could make him feel so warm in his chest. you bob your head down, taking him deeper into your mouth, and he chokes on a cry of your name as he cradles the back of your head.
“‘m close, love—f-fuck, you sh-should—” he tries to warn you with a gentle tap to your head, but you’re determined to push him off the edge, so your hand squeezes around his balls a bit tighter, rolling the sensitive sacs in your hand and making his hips buck upwards as he grunts in surprise. he cums with a twitch of his cock, his orgasm crashing over him sooner than he expected. you hear him gasp, moaning brokenly as his eyes close and his lips tug between his teeth, hips rolling into your mouth against his better judgment. you swallow what you can of the hot, sticky ropes of cum that paint your mouth, hand pumping the base of his cock where you can’t fit. every crack in his voice and every low call of your name as he spills into you makes the walls of your pussy clench around nothing, an ache steadily building between your legs.
“so good,” he pants, spilling the last few ropes of his cum as he cants his hips up, “f-feels so good.” you pull away, swallowing whatever’s in your mouth as you stare up at him, making his eyes close as he lets out a low groan at the sight. you giggle when his cock twitches again between his thighs, still hard and heavy between his legs.
“not enough, baby?” you tease, kissing just below his belly button before you climb onto his lap, cupping his face as he smiles softly.
“i suppose not,” he chuckles lightly, “i don’t think i’ll ever get enough of you.”
“i love you, kento,” you murmur again, kissing along his jaw and nipping at his skin. his hands grip at your hips, squeezing firmly as he guides your clothed cunt to rub against his cock, making you sigh against his neck as your clit rubs over him through the fabric. “so much, you know. i don’t think i could ever stop.”
“yeah?” he asks quietly, “you think so?”
“yes,” you pout, wrapping your arms around his neck, burying your face into the crevice of his shoulder. he wraps an arm tightly around you, rubbing the small of your back as he feels you as close as space permits you to get—and even then, it’s not close enough. “i’m pouring my heart out, right now. you could say ‘i love you too,’ you know. now would be a perfect time.”
you feel his chuckle rumble from his chest against yours, and it’s the first time you’ve heard him laugh since he’s opened his eyes that day.
“no need to get so impatient, love,” he teases. nanami feels the sun soak his skin through the cracks of the curtains, and he sees the way it catches in your eyes and brings out the small flecks in your irises as you pull from the crook of his neck to press your forehead to his. the day has only begun, but he thinks for the first time in a long time, there’s more waiting for him. “i,” he presses a gentle kiss to the tip of your nose, love you too.”
“a lot?” you bat your lashes with a cheeky grin. he shakes his head in amusement.
“i’ll have to think about that one,” he pretends to ponder for a moment.
“kento,” you whine, pouting deeper. nanami chuckles once, then twice, and then soft, sweet laughter pours from his mouth like honey trickles from the comb. it makes you giggle with him, contagiously pulling you to join his moment of glee. his chest is light but his arms are heavy with the weight of you in them—and he can’t ask for more.
maybe nothing’s changed after all.
“a lot,” he agrees with a nod. “i love you a lot. more than anything.”
“i want you more than anything,” you whisper, gently grinding your hips down on him, biting your lip as he drags along your throbbing clit. you whimper softly when his hand travels under your shirt, kneading your breasts in his palms as you roll your hips against him.
“i think i can give you that,” he murmurs.
it happens quicker than you can imagine. your shirt is pulled over your arms and your bra is unclasped. nanami flips you both over so your back hits the mattress and he’s hovering over your chest, lips wrapping around a pebbled nipple as he sucks and rolls his tongue over it. your hand clutches at his blonde locks, head thrown against the pillow as you whine, back arching a little when his hand reaches for your other tit and his fingers rub and pinch at your nipple so as not to leave it neglected.
“k-kento, please,” you breathe, “more.”
he hums, switching his mouth and his hand to give the same attention to the other side, slotting a knee between your legs and spreading them wide. you’re dripping, pussy aching as it craves the stretch of his cock. it’s almost nauseating, how much you need him—thankfully, he seems to have an idea.
you breathe his name the same way you always do when he slips himself into you, breathless and in love, brimming with lust and awe, glossed with ache and need. he sets his jaw and presses his forehead to yours, feeling your tight walls squeeze him in as he lets you adjust. and when you buck your hips with a greedy whine, just like you always do, he all but pulls out completely before slamming into you, just like he always does.
“god, kento,” you moan, “so full. feels good—always make me f-feel good. only you.” he groans at your words, hips rutting into you desperately as he chases the friction of your wet cunt, lost on the way your walls flutter around him.
you were made for him, he thinks, the way your pussy hugs around him, the way he fits so perfectly, the way your bodies slot against each other just right when you pull him close. nanami kento is sure you were sculpted by steady hands, deliberate and slow—and he can only hope he’s enough to be yours, enough to reach for your hand and feel the way your fingers entwine and your heart seeps through your palm into his.
he’ll cradle it carefully, until he’s enough for you, until you’ll willingly take his heart when he hands it to you too.
but something tells him from the way your cling to him, arms around his neck, chests pressed so closely that your nipples graze, that you want his heart in your palm too.
“fuck,” he grunts, “missed fucking you like this,” he mumbles against the shell of your ear, nibbling on your earlobe as you mewl, raising your hips and meeting his sloppy thrusts halfway. “missed the way you take me so well, love. so tight,” he breathes.
he lets a hand travel between your bodies, rubbing at your clit in slow circles that make you squeal, legs wrapping around his waist as your thighs tremble. his fat tip kisses your sweet spot, the one he knows by heart as he angles his hips and slams into you with precision, the slow, sloppy roll of his hips building up your orgasm in a steady ache. your hands find his hair, tugging at the roots as you let wanton moans spill from your mouth. and he’s everywhere, his skin against yours, his mouth pressing hot, searing kisses along your jaw, his vein dragging along your walls as his cock curves into you just right.
you can feel the coil in your belly tighten until it’s just ready to snap, can feel yourself get closer to your high, can feel the way nanami is close too as he twitches in your dripping heat. he’s groaning into your neck, head falling into the juncture of your shoulder as he lets out deep grunts, balls heavy and aching to release.
“kento, kento,” you chant his name. it leaves a tender feeling swimming in his chest, fond and proud and a little grateful all at once. the way you say his name like that makes him think you still need him, that he’s still enough, that he’s still everything you want. and when you tug at his roots, letting out a soft sob as his thumb rubs harshly over your sensitive clit, he smiles a little against your skin. “‘m so close kento, n-need it. need it so bad, please.”
“let go,” he kisses your neck, “cum for me, love.”
and you do. hard.
it’s been as long for you as it has for him—sometimes you let yourself forget that. but he slams himself into your walls, your slick smeared messily along your thighs, and you cum on his cock with a silent sob. your back arches as you cling to nanami, tugging at his hair while he fucks you through your high, groaning deeply at the way your walls spasm around his cock.
your high sends him hurdling into his own release, his second orgasm rippling through his spine as pleasure burns through every nerve. nanami’s head falls to your shoulder, and he faintly registers your hand cradling the back of his head as he desperately ruts into you, rhythm sloppy. he paints your walls white, thick ropes of cum filling you up as he fucks his load deep into your sloppy cunt.
“god—you’re all i need,” he moans, “everything i need—c-can’t lose you, never you. i love you. i love you,” he chokes, panting as he trembles in your arms with the last new waves of his high. you’re repeating the words back—and through soft sniffles, he faintly registers—while your fingers are gently threading through his hair.
and when he slips out of you, slumping onto the bed beside you as he collects you in his arms, he realizes that this is the first time he’s laid on his side of the bed since he’s come home to you.
“i love you, kento,” you say for what feels like the millionth time that night. and you think you’ll keep repeating it for as long as he needs it. “thank you for coming home to me.”
“thank you for bringing me home,” he smiles, kissing your forehead.
you kiss over his scarred skin, he brings the sheets over your bodies, and nanami kento is home. nothing’s changed.

consider. okay. CONSIDER. consider masochist george. okay?? okay. okay LISTEN.
I think I have a problem with gimmicks also. because. because. ever since strawberry milk george, I. I have not stopped thinking about strawberry flavored lube. because! listen okay hear me out.
(this is absolutely 110% a response to discovering that you share a birthday with him. what of it?)
I know everyone likes pillow princess george and. that's okay. that's FINE. these are not mutually exclusive.
george looking up at you with The LookTM wearing some pink strawberry milk lingerie. not even lingerie really! just something cute like that
& him being like. "I know you love me 👉👈 but I need you to fuck me like you don't"
so I was. thinking. that brat george is the exact kind of person to say (playfully & consensually) "but I don't wanna give you head, I just wanna fuck >:(" after you've got him worked up, maybe from teasing him throughout the day, or edging him a little. but you still need some type of lube. so you go to apply the first bottle you see and he's pink when he asks you "😳 is that ... strawberry ... ?" and you're confused like ??? bro you just asked me to fuck you into next week why're you interested in the flavored lube
but. but listen. he would get so enthusiastic about it. at first it's just "maybe I can stand to eat them out just a little bit before ..." and then after you come the first time it devolves really, really quickly into the need to just. take care of you. and it stretches on until you've come three or four times, and you're still shaking, and he's just. completely gone in subspace
hmm ... george climbing up onto your lap when he's done with you, going in to give you a kiss, and he tastes like strawberry. and he ends up moaning right into your mouth because he's been so horny but so? understimulated?? that he outright jumps as soon as his dick grazes your thigh. it would only take a couple stuttery grinds before he's finishing on both of your stomachs
and he's just so cute when comes, or when he bites down on your shoulder to keep himself quiet. and it's your birthdays. so, you decide you'll give him a reason to cry. and he'll finally get put in his place! it's a win-win for both of you!!

okay im back on earth. he’d get into that rhythm and settle like liquid while he gets to work on you, and his subspace face is so self-satisfied and nearly smug so he’s just having the time of his life,,, and he makes such a loud noise when his dick twitches against your thigh and maybe... JUST MAYBE he whimpers extra watery when you drag his hips to grind against where you’re wet and dripping/your spent cock as if he’s the one who’d get overstimulated by it. when he finally leans away, eyelids heavy, you gently fit your hand over his jaw and ask, “did you even ask? it’s one thing to come without permission, but not even caring to ask? georgie, i might just be offended,” and he whines “green”s against your neck before you even check-in
and because u made it abt both of our birthdays ,,,, spanks for each year we’ve been alive methinks ??? and then the scratch down his ass gets him hard again and he’s so embarrassed by it, ,,, , ,, ,, ,, ,, ,

#👑 anon #(my beloved) #keep #anon thoughts: george #redsick #SHAWTY WANT THE WHOLE CREW SHAWTY BAD
as soon as you said birthday spanks I decided I had to write more about this. and I was going to leave more snippets in your askbox like the fucking gremlin creature I am, but then my thoughts started. actually having structure? and then I started writing it. and I tried to do homework and write on study breaks only but. I just kept coming back to this. this is the polar opposite of writer's block. I think I'm cursed or something. so here I am rushing to finish this so that I may rest in peace!!
yes I've been writing nonstop since I sent you that ask. what of it. what the fuck of it.
when I said I discover something new about myself every time we interact, I. I'm serious. I think I might be insane or something. I'm way too sadistic. you'll see. what the fuck is this? what the fuck did I just write??
this would have done so much critical psychic damage if I had posted it on November 1st in real life, but mental illness says I can't let my horny thoughts rattle around in my brain for that long. so!! it's you guys's problem now xoxoxo
I'm not fucking proofreading this. love you though 💗
I did end up proofreading actually. oops! looks like posting at 23:00 isn't always a good idea.
November 1st

I call George a whore and a slut at least once. and also, George calls yellow at one point. this one kind of surprised me so just. Be Careful. I cannot believe I wrote this. I don't know where this came from.

dawn shines through drawn curtains, illuminating the tile floor and your robed figure reflecting off it. batter sizzles in the skillet as you flip the last pancake over. this side looks golden brown, like honeycomb or caramelized sugar. that delicious, freshly-baked fragrance mingles with scented candles. it's perfect, you smile. he's going to love it.
you lift the pancake with a spatula, stacking it on top of the others on his plate. you bring it to his seat at the table, along with the butter, the syrup, the honey, the jam…and you go to pour him a drink.
"hey baby," you greet warmly to the sleepyhead rubbing his eyes in the entryway, still clinging to a pillow. his hair's a mess, only wearing socks and a sweatshirt that reaches down past his thighs. you reckon he'd only just crawled out of bed.
"morning…" he yawns, stumbling past you to take his seat.
"milk?" you ask, he only nods. "did you sleep okay?"
he hums affirmatively. "I…can we…"
one track mind, you joke inwardly. but you don't blame him. "of course," you open the fridge.
you hear him pause. "…is it too early for that?"
"no, no!" you give him a lighthearted laugh. "I kind of expected it, to be honest…I want it, too."
he's silent under the noise of you rummaging through the fridge. "I—"
"sorry—it looks like all we have is strawberry milk. is that alright?"
"yeah…yeah, that's alright. I…actually…wanted to try something new." you shut the fridge, he's fidgeting in his seat.
"hit me with it," your expression is gentle. you pass his cup off to him, but he holds his hand over yours a little too long, looking up at you.
"fuck me like you hate me."
you don't know if it's hearing him swear, or the way he said it so calmly, or how he closed his eyes and swallowed hard before his tone could dip down into something lower. but like a match in an torrent of gasoline, suddenly you're burning up.
you only realize you're staring when he bites his lip and looks down. you start to say something, but the words don't form.
he laughs nonthreateningly, covering his mouth with the back of his hand. "is that a yes?"
you laugh with him. "I…yes, absolutely yes." you turn back around to make your own stack of pancakes. "you should eat first, though."
"what?" he teases. "will I need the energy?"
you smile. "yeah. I think you will." you can practically feel him open his mouth in protest, but he stays silent after that.
and it stays mostly silent while you cook your pancakes. you hear the clinking of his fork on his plate, but it isn't very disruptive. it sounds like he's hurrying to finish his food.
when you go back to the table with your own platter, he's already done eating. he's red down to his neck, fidgeting with the hem of his sweatshirt, looking at you expectantly. you spot a pair of tassels peeking out from under it, just below his hip bones. is that…
he pulls the hem up just a bit, holding your gaze. he smiles, apparently satisfied watching your face heat up.
"I—you should go…go get ready," you manage. he gets up before you even finish your sentence, only stopping to give you a quick kiss on the cheek.
except it isn't quick, when he slides his hand down to rest firmly on your collar, and leans in to trail kisses down your neck. "a-and leave that on," you stutter.
he pauses, just under your jaw. "leave what on?" he murmurs.
your breath catches, you shut your eyes. "whatever the fuck it is you're wearing under there."
he's hardly grazing your skin, but you can feel how hot he is next to you. it takes all of your willpower not to shiver.
he pulls back quickly, only his hand lingering. "I don't know what you're talking about." and just like that, he disappears into your bedroom.
you reach up a hand tentatively to your collar, hot to the touch. I'm in way too deep, you decide, and force yourself to take a bite of your food despite your nerves.
"that," you hiss. "that fucking outfit. that."
"oh, this?" he bites his lip, hooking his thumb in the keyhole. "this's just what I went to bed in last night."
"fuck you. we both know that isn't true."
he tugs gently on his top, pulling it a little to the side. "what's the big deal? can't I wear something special for my birthday?"
"it's special, all right," and you leave it at that, opting instead to slot between his legs where he sits waiting on the edge of the bed. you bring up a hand to cup his jaw, brushing your thumb across his cheek. you'll never get enough of the way he looks at you, like you're intoxicating.
…? you frown.
"is something…missing?" he perks up instantly at "missing."
"what…?" he chooses his words carefully.
"the collar—your collar. where is it?" you turn away to start going through your bedside table, but the way his lips quirk up into a sly smile isn't lost on you.
that's lube…that's a vibrator…where the fuck is it…? "w-what collar?" he stumbles over his words.
your mind jumps to say, the collar that came with that outfit, or I know you know what I'm talking about, but you won't give him the satisfaction. you decide to speak a little darker, only a firm "George." you hear him swallow.
"w-well," his voice is shaky, "you only told me to leave on whatever I was wearing under my shirt. and…I wasn't wearing that collar at breakfast…s-so technically…"
you stop looking immediately. you turn to take him in, legs crossed, stance confident, but expression showing uncertainty. you can see the regret on his face. "get up." he takes a shallow breath. "get up."
"I'm—"
"don't I'm sorry me," you snap. "you look for your fucking collar on your own."
he slips off the bed, looking ashamed, but starts digging through the drawer all the same. "I really am sorry," he murmurs. you take his place sitting on the bed. he finds what he's looking for rather quickly: a simple white leather collar with a bell, and a leash. he hands them off to you shyly. "um, here…"
"good boy," you praise. "kneel."
he shuts his eyes and does as he's told. you can see the bliss wash over his face just at being ordered around. his lips part a little as he lets out a heavy breath. if only I knew what this would do to him, you muse, I'd have done this ages ago.
you fasten the collar, revelling in how he shivers at the gentle sensation of cold leather hanging around his neck. you leave it a little bit loose, but still comfortable, and hook the leash in its place. he sits obediently still on his knees, looking deep in thought.
"Oh, I know what I'm gonna do to you," you bait. "how old are you today?"
"mmm. twenty-five." he looks down.
you smile, holding tight onto the leash. "I'm gonna edge you. twenty-five times."
he flinches away immediately, yet hums in pleasant surprise when the leash snaps taught. the bell jingles stiffly. "no way. that's way too much."
"I think you should've thought about that before you wore that to breakfast," you decide, tugging a little. he's caught off-guard and stumbles forward, stopping himself by leaving a clumsy pair of kisses on the inside of your thigh. the metal and leather feel refreshingly cool against your feverish skin. "we've got all day, baby."
you expect to hear some kind of protest, you're crazy. or a playful taunt, I'm better off doing this by myself. but he knits his brows and openly moans at the thought. "all day…" he repeats.
he looks up at you, almost pleading, and you can hear the resignation in his voice when he whispers "alright."
"get up here," you command. "on top of me." as he climbs up into your lap, a little too eagerly, you add, "and take your dick out."
you shrug your robe off your shoulders while he's working on his panties, and without thinking, you ask, "color?"
he stops, leaving his head poking cutely over the waistband. he looks up at you again. "…what?"
"um…color," you explain. "like, how are you doing? is this okay? I don't actually want to hurt you. uhhh…green means good, yellow means slow down, and red means stop."
he stifles a laugh. "you're such a nerd. I'm okay."
"alright." you blush a little. "we can stop whenever you need to. this is for you…" you think of something horribly unsexy to say. "…birthday boy."
now he's really laughing, with his whole body. you think the way it makes his collar jingle is cute. "oh my god. shut up. just shut up," his expression turns serious, and he drops to a whisper, "and fuck me."
that got you hot again. you pull him by the leash into a kiss, you bite his lip, you eat him up. and you grab the both of you together with your other hand, you moan in tandem. you can feel how you took him by surprise in the way he twitches under your thumb, the way he leans into you with his whole body. you part from the kiss and he leans back on his heels, panting hard, holding on to your shoulders for support. you can feel him shaking a little.
when you move your hand all the way up the first time, you squeeze both of your heads gently, and he practically falls into you. muffled in the crook of your neck, he begs, "god, do that again."
so you do. again. and again. what was a string of stuttered breaths turns into a single broken moan as you jerk the both of you off. when you think you're getting close, you let go of yourself to focus all your attention on him.
"fuck, sir," he whines—hahaha, that sir made your cock leak a little. he shut his eyes tight. "I-I-I think—I think I'm—"
just like that, you stop, and he goes slack, practically laying on you. but he doesn't grind back, or even move to touch himself. that won't last very long.
you let him come back down, knowing edging takes a lot out of you; maybe even more so than actually coming does. slowly but surely, his breathing steadies. you rub between his shoulderblades affectionately, still trying to ground yourself, too.
once you've found your voice again, you question, "are you gonna count for me?"
he makes a sound against your skin, somewhere between excitement and fear. "…o-one." you revel in how fucked-out he sounds already.
"one what?" you prod.
he seems at a loss, like he's forgotten himself, what he said. after a minute or two of pondering, he catches on. "…sir."
it's your turn to moan. your dick jumps at the honorific, still mostly untouched against your stomach. "good boy." and you dive back in. twenty-four to go.
it's noon. you're working on nineteen. and your partner's getting much more…expressive. he's started biting his hand to keep himself quiet, but he's still…
"I-I—oh fuck, I'm—fuck, I-I'm—I'm—" he whimpers through his teeth. and he yelps, whole body shaking, bell jingling incessantly, when he comes all over your hand and stomach.
you take your hand off him immediately, and this time he does try to reach down, ride through it, but you grab both his wrists to stop him. he grinds down uselessly against your thigh and your dick. although you're still hard, and only a hairline trigger away from coming yourself, it doesn't stop you from keeping this brat in line. you only bite your lip and close your eyes.
he leans his forehead against yours, moving in to give you a kiss, but you push him away.
"did you never learn how to fucking count?" you growl.
he winces. "I-I-I-I'm…I'm sorry—"
you scowl at your hand, covered in come. "here, slut," you raise it up to his lips. "clean this off for me."
he tears up a little, but takes your fingers into his mouth all the same. pretty quickly, though, he spits them back out.
"it doesn't taste good…" he complains.
"oh? oh, it doesn't?" you mock. "but it felt good, when you came without my permission, like a cheap fucking whore."
a couple of tears spill over, roll down his cheeks, yet he says nothing, only moving back in to lap his come off your hand. you can see it in his expression that he's not very happy about it, but he doesn't protest further.
"is this good enough, sir?" he asks, when it seems that he's gotten it all. it looks clean enough, you agree. you grab him by the chin, hooking your thumb in his mouth. you don't even have to tell him to suck.
"you come without my approval again, and it's over. you can go back to playing minecraft—or what-the-fuck-ever—with your friends for your birthday. do you want to sleep on the couch, Georgie?"
if he wasn't crying before, he's definitely crying now. he doesn't shake his head, but he circles your fingertip with his tongue enthusiastically, as if to say, I'll be good, I'll be good this time, looking up at you doe-eyed.
"bend over for me," you demand. "across my lap."
he does so immediately. he slips a little bit while he's changing positions, you hear the bell ring, and he scrambles to correct himself. he settles with his ankles crossed and his head in his hands, propping himself up on his elbows. you feel a little bad, you admit, but you won't budge; he has a safeword, you trust that he'll use it.
"let's try that again," your tone softens. "I want you to count for me, okay?"
he nods.
you pull his panties to the side, pause briefly, and bring down your hand with a satisfying smack.
"ohhhhhh—" he moans, jolting a little. "—holy shit, did you just spank me?"
your stomach drops, you go to rub him gently where you just hit him. "is that okay—?"
"it's hot, it's so hot, fuck," he shifts in your lap. "um, sorry…one."
seriously, something about hearing him swear awakens something in you, every time. you're fired up. you spank him again.
"mmm—two…" is he…? "three…"
you pause to massage his ass again, and to speak. "you're…you're hard again, aren't you?"
you didn't even spank him yet, but he lets out a moan. "fuck, I—I just. I want you. I want this. so, so much."
you wonder if this is actually the same George who was fidgeting with his pillow in the dining room this morning.
"you're so bad, getting turned on by something like this," you tease. he only moans in response.
"four—five—six—seven…" he chokes out. "it's starting to sting…"
you take a break, kneading the skin where your angry red handprint is starting to take shape.
"eight…nine…but god, it hurts so good…" he wipes his eyes with the back of his hand. "ten…"
at ten, you linger for a moment, holding a handful of his ass. "does it?"
"yes—yesyesyes," he buries his face in the pillow, and shivers. "fuck, eleven…twelve…"
you pull his panties down to his knees, and switch sides. he lifts his hips up, so I can reach him better, you guess. you don't miss the telltale glint of a butt plug, but you'll get to that later.
"thirteen—fourteen—fifteen—sixteen," he moans between slaps. he's gripping the pillowcase so hard his knuckles are white.
in this new position, the way he jumps with every hit makes his cock brush against yours just right. fuck, you're still hard from earlier. this time you're the one who whimpers.
"seventeen, eighteen," he pauses, breathless. you pull gently on his leash, he arches his back and moans, "n-nineteen." his bell jingles.
he grinds down, just for a moment, and the friction is delicious. you're a little dizzy, you think you might've thrust back. you both sigh at the feeling.
"…t-twenty…see? I-I can count…I'm a good boy…I'm good for you…aren't I?"
"you are," you murmur, but you aren't sure he hears you. "you're so good…"
"twenty-one—twenty-two…I-I feel like I haven't done anything right today…twenty-three…"
"…George…?" you hear a muffled sob.
"twenty-four…" he mumbles.
"George?" you start to get concerned. he just keeps crying. "hey…" you whisper. you gently prompt him to turn him over; the pillow's a little wet. you pull the panties off all the way, and get him out of the bra, which had a little stray come on it. you help him sit up in your lap, and pull him into a hug.
"am I really just a whore…?" he asks brokenly.
"you've been so good for me, baby. you've done everything I've asked." you wipe his tears away with your thumb. "are you okay?"
"but I—" he coughs. "—I came too soon, I came without your permission…"
you kiss his hair, and hold him to your chest. "you've been so patient. I'm proud of you."
he finally wraps his arms around you. "I-I'm sorry."
"nonsense," you reassure. "your comfort takes priority. are you okay? color?"
"I…" he searches for the words. "I dunno. yellow? I…that hurt, I think. being…degraded?"
you comb through his hair with your fingers. "I understand. thank you for telling me. I love you."
you stay like that for a minute. you grab him a snack and a drink, but for the most part, you just enjoy each other's company, tangled-up together. you don't bother putting your clothes back on.
it's later in the evening. you're straddling him, peppering his shoulders with kisses, and he's giggling underneath you. he turns over to give you a short and sweet kiss.
"baby?" he says, looking expectantly.
"what is it?" you sit back on your heels.
he hesitates. "…I wanna keep going. from earlier."
you're serious again. "are you sure you're okay?" you grab his hand, bringing it up to kiss his fingertips. "I don't want to hurt you."
"I'm alright," he assures. "I remember you promising me an all-day thing, though."
you blush, a little surprised by his forwardness. "of course. I think…I…" you laugh. "I wanna fuck you."
"yeah?" he smiles, leaning up close. "show me how much."
you hold his jaw while you kiss him, biting his bottom lip between your teeth. he tastes like the coffee and cream you made him earlier. you feel his breath hitch. he reaches up to hold your shoulders.
you pull back. "hey, blow me first."
"what? why?" he giggled.
"it's been a couple hours, I'm not hard anymore," you coax. "I thought you liked taking orders?"
he cringed. "but come tastes gross!"
you slid off him and hopped off the bed, opening the drawer. "suit yourself. you get to watch me jack off, then."
"fine by me, I think you look good when you masturbate."
"ohhh, I forget, you're too blissed-out to pay attention to how I look when you're getting fucking owned."
"I am not!"
"you are too!" he sticks his tongue out at you.
you open the lid, pouring a little on your hand, a little on your cock. it's translucent pink, seems a little fragrant. you give yourself a couple of strokes with a sigh.
he's quiet for a second, then, shyly, "um…is that…strawberry flavored…?"
you bite your lip. "I thought you weren't gonna give me head?"
"I was just curious." it's a weak lie, but you say nothing.
your eyes are shut, but you can feel him moving around a bit on the bed, you hear his bell ring a couple times. you feel a hand on your thigh, so you decide to peek. and holy shit.
your partner's made his way to the floor, on his knees between your legs, holding his leash in his mouth, his fucking mouth, what the fuck. his thumb's rubbing circles on the inside of your thigh. the half-lidded look he's giving you should be criminal.
"you—I thought you said you wouldn't…" you can't find the words. you reach out and take the leash from his mouth. you see your hand shake in front of you.
"I'm just watching…" he whispers, looking up at you, mesmerized.
you're only able to get a couple of pumps in before he's joining you, hand over yours as you get yourself off. just the extra sensation of somebody else's touch is enough to make you bite back a moan.
"fuck—!" you jolt when he licks a stripe up the underside. he mouths over the head, jerking you off on his own now. you move to grip the sheets in one hand, his leash in the other. and you come without warning. you see it end up on his hand and your stomach before you shut your eyes tight.
he's quiet while you're coming down, just helping you ride it out, giving you kisses on your thighs. when you look back down at him, he's got two of his fingertips in his mouth, licking them clean. he stands up abruptly, it startles you a little. you see his bell ring. and he grabs you by the hips and leans down to your midriff.
"…I don't think I cleaned you off all the way earlier…" he breathes, and he starts to lap up the mess of his and your come that's been on you since this afternoon.
what the fuck. why is this so hot? why is he so hot? all too soon, your spent cock twitches in interest at your lover. he cups it with a hand, smiling against your tummy. you're so sensitive it hurts. you think you mean to say something, but nothing comes out.
"hmm…?" he bites his lip. "you still want some more?" all you can do is whine. at this point, you don't know if it's in protest or invitation.
you don't get the chance to find out either, because fuck, he's really going down on you now. you don't know what the fuck he's doing with his tongue, or where his gag reflex went, but at this rate you're gonna come again.
"George—George, baby, I—slow down, I-I'm—" you plead. his leash slips out of your hand, you tip your head back.
he swallows.
the last thing you remember is coming harder than you ever have in your life. you think you held him by his hair. you might've fucked his mouth a little. he's never let you come in his mouth before…fuck…
it's nighttime now. he's riding your thigh, got one of his legs slotted between yours. the friction between his knee and your overstimulated cock feels embarrassingly good. you're so dizzy, all you can articulate is a loud moan. you don't sound at all like you remember. his bell keeps ringing and ringing and ringing as he grinds against you.
he leans down, one arm holding your hip, the other keeping himself propped up. he bites your shoulder, hard, hard enough to bruise. he comes on both of your stomachs.
"George," you beg. you're losing your voice.
"mmmmmmsir," he slurs. "fuck me."
"George, I…" you don't know what you're saying. the end of your sentence turns into a whimper.
"you need me to get you hard again? you need me to rile you up?" he turns to kiss your jaw, feeling around for your dick. "like this?"
"George," you sound urgent, until he squeezes right around the head, and you forget what you were saying. you're pretty fucking close to forgetting who you are entirely.
he sits up on top of you, grinning. "love the way you say my name, sir."
that name. all it takes is the way he says that fucking name and you're ready to go again. you flip the two of you over, so that you're towering over him instead. "you still didn't. fucking. ask me. if you could come."
he giggles, a little crazed. he hooks his arms around his knees, hugging them to his chest.. "so what? so what? you gonna fuck me 'till I behave?"
"yes," you reach down, "I think I will." and you pull out the butt plug he (probably forgot he) had in all day.
"fuck—" he sobs. you watch his dick bob. precome drips into a pool on his stomach. "—green—green—so fucking green."
you're still sensitive from coming twice—you're pretty sure he is too. you lean down to give him a kiss, you moan into each other's mouths. he tastes like strawberries and his and your come. it is a little gross, you admit. but he's so tight and so fucking cute that you can't bring yourself to care. you part, and there's a line of salvia connecting the two of you.
"wait—" you say, but it comes out like a growl. "roll over."
he gets on his hands and knees, reaching back and spreading himself open for you. fuck.
you fuck him like that, holding the leash tight, loving the way he arches his back into the bed. the bell on his collar jingles incessantly.
you spank him, one last time.
"th-that's twenty-f-five—oh, fuck, sir," he growls, clinging on to the blankets for dear life.
you pin one of his hands in place and reach down to touch him. he starts laughing again.
"mmmmmmay I please come, sir? I—fuck—I'm so close, soclosesoclose," his breath stutters, you can hear the breaks in his voice. he buries his face in the blankets.
I'm close, you think, but the words don't make it out. "you're so good—you're so fucking good—come for me—fuck, come for me."
you're a mess. there's some drying solution of come and lube on your stomach. not to mention whatever the fuck's going on with your hair. your robe is discarded haphazardly on the floor. you think you've got a hickey, but you can't remember where.
actually, you're both a mess. he's also covered in come, sweat, and lube. he's got a red ring around his neck where you pulled him by the leash a little too hard. he's just covered in bruises. he clings to your arm, still fast asleep. you both passed out pretty quickly after…whatever that was, but you got back up a couple hours later. it doesn't look like he did, though.
actually, your whole bedroom is a mess. a blanket or two ended up discarded on the floor. there's an empty bottle of edible lube somewhere around here. your kitty lingerie set, still dirty, somehow ended up hanging in the closet. the first time you woke up you were both cuddling with a butt plug that you misplaced in the heat of the moment.
you don't think you've ever seen him like that. you can't even put it into words. you've never spanked him. he's never called you sir. you've never come in his mouth. he's never…begged for you like that before. you've never been so exhausted after coming that you both just, just fainted.
you feel lightheaded, and dead tired. you know you both must have gotten back up and gone at it at least a couple more times, but it's blurry, you can't remember. all you know is your vibrator's missing, and you feel…unusually empty, like you do the morning-after getting railed a little too hard.
last night…what the fuck happened last night?
you contemplate getting up, slipping your arm out of his embrace, pulling the covers back up around him, leaving to make breakfast. you're kind of disgusting, several hours after sex without cleaning up properly. you want to get yourselves some washcloths, maybe take shower together, or run him a bath. you know he's gotta be way more sore than you are.
you catch yourself staring, lost in thought; he just looks too cute when he's very clearly roughed up, but still sleeping soundly. and with the way he wanted…the way he needed you yesterday, you don't think he would want to wake up alone.
maybe it's okay if we sleep in a little longer.
you stroke his hair and whisper, "happy birthday, baby boy."

aaand because I can’t stop thinking about it i’ve written down my ranking of post-finale deancas scenarios including a non-exhaustive list of pros and cons for each. read on at your own discretion.
1st place: Deancas open up the new Roadhouse. My personal favorite because, again, Dean’s canon dream. I think Dean would LOVE running his own bar and playing host and serving people food and drinks is basically his love language. Cas isn’t as into the bar vibe specifically but he enjoys seeing people come and go and getting to know the locals who come by and just being with Dean. They get to stay connected to the hunting world without being actual hunters which is probably the perfect win win situation for them.
Other Pros of the Bar scenario (i’ve thought about this a lot): Claire and Kaia come by increasingly often to visit until eventually Claire basically works part-time at the Roadhouse when she’s not off hunting and Dean starts only semi-ironically calling it the “family business.” Claire puts up pride flag stickers on the front door and Dean makes a thing of it at first but then warms up to the idea. People start catching on and now local queer people will come from several towns over to visit the bar because there aren’t exactly that many queer friendly spaces in their corner of Kansas. Then it’s pride month and Claire and Kaia secretly update the bar’s online info to explicitly draw in queer customers and on the evening of the nearest pride march the bar is PACKED with all the local gays and Cas has the pop music blaring and he will NOT let Dean change it but it’s ok because Dean’s made friends with a drag queen who’s a professional comedian and now they’re comparing calendars to see when she might be able to come do a set at the Roadhouse and basically their bar is now a gay bar. “LGBT friendly”, Dean insists, because 1. he’s not gay and 2. he still caters to the local straights and the hunters. but now hunters come in and end up sitting 2 stools away from a flamboyant!gay and some are slightly weirded out but most don’t care at all and all of them end up making some kind of comment about how they’d heard about Dean Winchester and his angel... guess it’s true huh? And Dean shoots them a cocky grin and says ‘yep’ but he still holds to the rule that pop music is only allowed on tuesdays and thursdays and maybe very late at night on the weekends when everybody’s drunk and dancing. The Roadhouse is a second home to Dean and it’s the perfect mix of middle american dive, hunter’s hangout and lgbt space, and that’s literally DEAN so it’s perfect and he gets to work with his family by his side and be a part of a community (or several) and he feels useful and happy.
Cons of the Bar scenario: Doesn’t work great with having a small child or hobbies. very long hours and unusual work schedule. would encourage Dean’s drinking habit. I.e. it might be more intense than some alternatives (unless the bar is more cafe/diner during the day and Claire/Kaia/whatever other youngins can mind the place on their own if deancas aren’t in and the bar is located quite close to their house to they can come and go).
Overall works pretty well for a more active/energetic take on deancas’s lives post-finale. 8/10
2nd place: Mix of mechanic!Dean and retired!deancas. Dean’s never had a proper job before or much of a social circle who aren’t hunters, so I find it hard to imagine Dean working at an autoshop and playing mr. normie with his coworkers. Same with Cas and a regular job.
What I can imagine, however, is Dean having his own small business where he fixes up old cars (for like, vintage car enthusiasts). It starts as a hobby but then he realizes people would pay him to do it so now it’s a business. Deancas obviously have a a house on a big plot of land near the woods and a lakeside, so there’s plenty of outdoor space for him to set up a small shop and most of his customers call ahead so he doesn’t have people just coming in anyway. The work is not quite enough to pay all the bills but again, Charlie’s magic credit card, so who cares. Cas gardens and beekeeps and occasionally sells the extras at the local farmer’s market. Dean cooks and fishes and uses Cas’s ingredients whenever possible. They spend their days on their own property, doing their hobbies on their own time and making enough money from them that they don’t feel useless and still have plenty of time left to get over-involved in Jack’s pta. It’s a very calm, contented life. the millennial hipster dream, fulfilled by two 40-some year old dads.
Pros: deancas getting to spend their days doing what they love, being ridiculously domestic and married (even if they’re not officially married), both being absolute malewives in their own ways and it’s disgustingly sweet.
Cons: this scenario doesn’t have quite as much excitement and opportunity for shenanigans as the bar scenario. Less connection to a community, more living like hermits. Dean might appreciate the more social atmosphere of a bar. Cas might be equally happy either way, but he’d probably like having Claire help them out at the bar so that’s a plus for him.
Overall a good scenario for a more placid semi-retired life. 7/10
3rd place: a bait and switch. Cas is the one who ends up still having something you could call a ‘job’, Dean is the househusband. It starts with deancas still helping saileen with HOL (hunters of letters) stuff but eventually Dean is very decided that he wants out now that things are in good hands. Cas agrees with him but still consults with the hol network since he’s got all that lore knowledge. Dean very occasionally helps with research/strategy for a hunt but that’s IT no more hunting for him, and so it ends up that Cas still comes by the bunker fairly often and works from home the rest of the time on research and translations etc and Dean’s 100% amateur chef-in-training and papa bear because now nobody can look down on him for being a housewife (or nobody he gives a shit about anyway) so he’s gone all in. and whenever he comes by the bunker these days is after he’s picked up Jack from school and he comes to join their family to cook them all dinner while they finish up the work.
Pros: love me a Dean who’s gotten over his hypermasculinity and is now comfortable with doing whatever he likes even if (sometimes specially if) that thing is considered stereotypically feminine. It’s his big fuck you to his dad and it’s the life mary had wanted when she was young and dean is mary and therefore he’s honoring her memory when he spends his days on a bright airy kitchen making lunch for his 4 year old and waiting for his ex-soldier husband he adores to come home and doing not one bit of hunting. except dean never had to lie about his past and cut ties with his hunter family to get this. which is why this time for him it works, when it didn’t for mary or sam. love that energy.
Cons: Dean is not in fact just a malewife and would probably still want some more action in his life. might feel kinda useless with Cas having a ‘thing’ to do when he doesn’t. Cas would be perfectly happy regardless though.
Overall heartwarming and sweet but not as realistic: 6/10
4th: Disheveled-magic-shop-owner!Cas (+ Sam and Dean). Just thought of this. Cas knows his shit about spell ingredients and magical objects and supernatural weapons, probably more than even Sam. And Cas gardens. And Cas most likely enjoys pinterest and mom blogs and finds out about etsy... So Cas may or may not start growing/hoarding specific goods he knows are useful in the hunting world. at first it’s just to help HOL out but eventually Dean realizes like... we could profit off of this? And Cas eye-rolls because he doesn’t care but then again he knows his shit so he sets up a poorly-designed website to sell hunting stuff. and maybe Sam goes in on it with him because Sam also knows his shit and it’s kind of cute because they work together and Dean probably does the mechanic/barkeep/househusband thing though he does help with making the special bullets and dropping off parcels at the post office and so on. And maybe eventually they open up a small magic shop where they sell their shit. And maybe the shop is next door to the Roadhouse and it’s all become ‘your one-stop shop for everything a hunter might need’ (and you know the gays like their new age shit too so it all works), and the bunker isn’t even far away either and all three business are interconnected, the ‘family business’ that AU John Winchester of Hunter Corp wished he’d created.
Pros: Cas gets to do a thing he’s knowledgeable and passionate about and Deancas get to leave hunting while staying adjacent to the community. Cas as a disheveled shopkeep who’s not particularly nice to customers but who provides them with insights and mysterious comments that make people certain he must be legit.
Cons: Cas using his knowledge of the supernatural to profit off of hunters sounds too capitalist and not very Cas-like. He would be the type to gladly give people stuff for free and methinks that Dean and Sam would feel that way too. Cas helping with HOL stuff is basically established in options 1-3 already and so is him gardening for potentially useful ingredients. He doesn’t need to sell this stuff in a shop.
Overall makes sense theoretically but doesn’t vibe well for me. 5/10
5th: full on retirees, doing basically the same things as no 2 except with maybe some more travelling and less caring about making money from any of it.
Pros: the “and they lived happily ever after” they deserve after all the shit they’ve been through.
Cons: boring. uneventful. Dean and Cas are still quite young and neither’s had a chance at something even resembling a normal life for more than a couple of months at a time. They should get more of a middle aged married life experience before moving on to full retirement.
Overall valid but less interesting: 4/10
6th: Cas gets a job at a local library or shop, Dean is either a mechanic or a househusband. To preface, if Cas were to get a job out there in the world, my favorite would be like a magic shop or a bookshop with *unique* books. But I find that unlikely unless Cas is running his own shop (see 4th place for that). So here we’re talking about a regular normie shop.
Pros: Cas has a job he likes and feels useful in? And he’s not completely tied down to Dean all the time (though not sure that counts as a pro). More of the ‘normal life’ vibes.
Cons: Cas working at a random bookstore or library or shop or whatever would be passably interesting but not as fulfilling or useful or fun as any of the other options.
Overall valid but not interesting or all that heartwarming. 2/10
6th: deancas don’t know any life outside of hunting so they keep on doing it, except now with lower stakes than before and they go on less actual hunts.
pros: umm... consistency? they keep working closely with saileen and the new hunters who start coming by/moving into the bunker.
cons: everything. Dean’s wanted out and he should get it. Cas literally died several times over and he should get to experience a human life with the man he loves and not just do more dangerous shit.
Overall a terrible idea. 1/10 (because 0/10 would be the Cas never comes back and Dean dies and goes to heaven scenario)

The Witcher
So I’ve watched the first season of the Witcher on Netflix and all I can say is holy motherfucking shit. That was a good season.
I wanted to jot down a few things that I liked about the season, bearing in mind that I haven’t yet read the books and have only played the Witcher 2 and 3. I will be using spoilers so consider this a spoiler warning.
(Also this will be a long post)
OK? OK
Henry Cavill
When Henry was announced I gotta admit I had some doubts over the casting. Not because I don’t rate him as an actor but I just couldn't picture him as Geralt. My personal pick was Zach McGowan, known for playing Charles Vane in Black Sails. He had the gruff voice, he looked like the game version of Geralt, and he even had similar hair. Just dye it white and he was good.
But having seen the show... I recant every syllable of my foolishness.
Henry Cavill is perfect as Geralt. He perfectly embodies the White Wolf. From his sarcastic sense of humour, to the subtle emotion on his face to the conflict he has while making the decisions he does. Absolutely perfect casting.
Anya Chalotra
Speaking of perfect casting, Anya is an incredible Yennefer of Vengerberg. Like Henry she perfectly embodies Yennefer. Anya plays the evolution of Yen superbly, from her beaten down and almost broken early days to the immensely powerful and confident sorceress she becomes later, she performs both absolutely perfectly.
And to all those who say that Anya is wrong to play Yennefer because she doesn’t “look like her”.... I cannot say shut the hell up loud enough. She was incredible and deserves all the accolades that should be sent her way.
Freya Allan
And rounding out the three main characters, the show is three for three in terms of perfect casting. I loved her independent and driven nature, continuing to keep going on despite all the trouble going her way despite only been about 11 or 12 (i think, not 100%). Her strong bond with both Queen Calanthe and Mousesack is evident, despite the relative lack of screentime devoted to it. I can’t wait to see how both the character and actress evolves over the (hopefully) seasons to come.
Geralt and Ciri
I loved the “the girl in the woods will be with you always” transition in the first episode, that eventually came full circle in the finale with the two finally meeting (with the run and hug scene!). Having seen their bond fully established in the games (I know they aren’t canon) I cant wait to see it develop on screen
Queen Calanthe
Is a badass. End of story. Ruling a kingdom, fighting at the front of every battle, effectively flipping off destiny and law of Surprise and being an incredible role model for Ciri. Absolute awesome character and Jodhi May did such an incredible job playing her.
Yennefer’s backstory
As a game only fan in terms of knowing much about the characters when I went into this season, my knowledge of Yen’s backstory was pretty much nonexistent, as I can’t remember it even being mentioned in the two games I played (of which Yen was only physically present for one). However, the show delved deep into it, and I’m glad they did. It simultaneously made us empathise fully with Yennefer but also established the basis for her desire to grow stronger and be in control of her own destiny and future, and why she was then so frustrated being in the mire of courtly intrigue, not able to grow higher.
The Yennefer and Tissaia dynamic
One of the most unexpected but welcome events of the show was the dynamic that they two shared. It was not the typical mentor and apprentice relationship and I appreciated the change from the norm. From Tissaia’s initial attempts to bring Yennefer to heel before eventually being the one to tell Yennefer to unleash her chaos during the battle at Sodden was great.
The striga episode
I mean..... just wow. As soon as they mentioned Temeria I had a feeling that it would be the striga, as it was one of the few things that I knew about from the books. And holy shit they did not disappoint. From the investigation aspect, to the fight scene, to the music. It was incredible episode and one that I cannot wait to get back to when I re-watch the series
Battle of Sodden
The main focus of the incredible finale. I had heard of the Battle of Sodden during the games but to see it was something else. A great battle scene combined great fights, solid battle plans and incredibly cool magical skills. And also, during the night scenes, you could actually see what the fuck was happening. See GoT! It isn't hard!!
Vilgevortz
As soon as his name was revealed in the episode, I’m not gonna lie but i may have gone full fanboy. I know a little from what was mentioned in the books and have read a little from other sources about his story in the books and was immensely excited when he showed up. And I cannot wait to see his story unfold on the show and see him interact more with Yennefer and meet Geralt and Ciri.
Jaskier
From what I know, calling him Jaskier (his original name in the Polish stories) instead of the English name of Dandelion was one of the problems people had with the show. And I have to ask... does it really matter? He still acts like him, talks like him, annoys Geralt like him. He is the same character, the showrunners are just honouring his roots.
And he brought some comic relief to the series in just the right ways, especially in the djinn and dragon hunt episodes. Joey Batey was great.
Music and Cinematography
Both of them were absolutely fantastic. Every episode looked and sounded phenomenal. I’ve been listening to a few tracks from the soundtrack that have made it onto YouTube on repeat for a while, most notably “Toss a Coin to your Witcher”. However, one track that I really liked but haven't been able to find is the battle theme from the striga fight. If anyone could send me a link to it, I would be incredibly grateful
Fight choreography
All of the fights this season were absolutely fantastic. Both the human fights and the monster battles. Geralt and Duny vs the Cintrian soldiers, Vilgevortz vs Cahir and (my personal favourites) Geralt vs Renfri and her gang from episode 1. All of them superb and I couldn't have asked for more from the fight scenes.
Magic
I really like the magic system they set up in this series. Not only is it incredibly diverse (with the finale alone showing us Vilgevortz constantly creating swords, Triss making poison mushrooms grow beneath the feet of the army and Coral wiping out a whole section of the Nilgaardian army) but I really like the idea that it isn't just them tapping into a great power, that there can be a great cost to performing these spells. Not something that a lot of fantasy series do.
Cahir
He was a great antagonist throughout the season and again I know little in specifics about him but I know that he is important to Ciri’s story, so I am looking forward to seeing that develop further.
Geralt and Visenna
I loved the scene of the two of them in the finale, even if it proved to only be a dream/hallucination. The “How do you like my eyes?” line legit gave me chills. Incredible acting by Henry there
Geralt and Yennefer (Yenneralt?, I think certain parts of the fandom have settled upon)
Now, as a game only fan prior to this, my exposure to the relationship between the two of them was limited, as the games only touched upon it in the Witcher 3. Before then it was told that Geralt and Yennefer had an epic love but it was very much tell and don’t show, as Yennefer didn't appear in person until the Witcher 3 and by then CDPR had developed the Geralt and Triss romance story in the Witcher 2. And I’m not gonna lie, I was fully into their romance during my playthroughs. Not that I didn't like Yennefer but I just didn't have the same basis into their bond that the book fans did.
After Season 1, however, I am fully onto the Geralt and Yennefer ship, having seen it develop as it did.
Methinks it may be time for another playthrough, as well as buying the books.
Things I’m looking forward to seeing on the show in the future
1. Yennefer and Ciri meeting
2. Seeing Geralt and Ciri bonding more, with some time together at Kaer Morhen
3. Thanedd Island (eventually)
4. Zoltan!
5. Regis!
6. Vesemir!

BnHA Chapter 216: You’re a Good Man, Shinsou Hitoshi
Previously on BnHA: Deku calmed his emotions and activated Blackwhip a second time, this time On Purpose, and for a moment it looked like he was going to completely curb stomp poor Shinsou. But then he crumpled in pain and the quirk vanished, and he realized he wasn’t physically strong enough to use that quirk just yet. So instead he chased after Shinsou using good ol’ full cowl. Meanwhile Ochako captured Monoma, who taunted her about having one last ace up his sleeve. This turned out to be a Twin Impact shot he’d been saving to hit Deku with, and it worked pretty nicely, but unfortunately our boy Shinsou didn’t have enough experience yet to take full advantage of the resulting opening. Meanwhile Ochako went to bail out Mina and Mineta and took out not one but two more opponents singlehandedly like the fucking ninja she is. Mina took out the third with a raging uppercut, leaving Deku to wrangle Shinsou, thus securing 1-A’s total victory. Now all that remains to be seen is what kind of excuse Deku will come up with for his sudden new quirk, and whether or not Shinsou will be accepted into the hero course. We’re all rooting for you, kid.
Today on BnHA: The 5th set wraps up with a 4-0 victory for Team A, which also gives class A the overall victory over class B, having won 3 of the 5 matches. As 1-A celebrates, Shinsou broods. He was able to piece together that the exercise was a test for his potential transfer, but he feels like he didn’t accomplish enough. The teachers gather the two teams for the post-game analysis and are all “what the fuck, Midoriya.” Deku is all “I don’t know either,” and for some reason everyone just buys that and moves on with their lives. Deku credits Ochako and Shinsou with helping to save him, but Shinsou says he just did it to stop his team from losing. Aizawa chokes some sense into him and says that just because he’s not a perfect 100% self-sacrificing martyr all the time doesn’t mean he’s not worthy of being a hero. Everyone else chimes in and says that Shinsou did really good, and Vlad says that although they still need to make it official, it’s more than likely that Shinsou will be joining the hero course next year. Having settled all that, Aizawa asks Monoma if he can do him a favor and come with him to see Eri the next day.
(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my mostly-unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’m caught up with the manga now at chapter 225, so any ETAs will reflect that.)
so we’re opening with Shinsou’s perspective on those last few moments against Deku
wow
Tumblr media
you’re telling me Izuku was spinning around over and over again in mid-air? he wasn’t just twisting the binding cloth around?? he himself was literally twirling at high speed? that’s what this panel was depicting?? the author of this series is drunk
ahhhhhh my poor exhausted lavender son
Tumblr media
welcome to shounen manga, friend. we only go forwards not back
ahhhhh fff dammit Shinsou
Tumblr media
YOU BETTER NOT START CRYING OR I’M GONNA LOSE IT
and now we’re belatedly getting the hero names of the four class B kids waaaaaay after the fact
Tumblr media
Emily??
(ETA: Exorcism of Emily Rose?? that’s what Viz’s translator speculated, anyway. idk I don’t watch horror movies so I don’t know what else it could be.)
I like the name “Mines” for Shouda though! his quirk kinda is like a landmine I guess. also this poor kid has seen better days Mina what did you do to him
anyways so poor Vlad is being forced to announce class 1-A’s perfect 4-0 victory for the second time in a row
haha check out Mina’s kung fu pose
Tumblr media
and Ochako’s peace sign. MVPs. I stan some motherfucking legends here I tell you what
oh lol it was Midnight that was doing the commentary since Vlad went with Aizawa and All Might
Tumblr media
I’m glad the kids’ petitioning paid off
so in the end class 1-A once again proved themselves against the unfortunate class 1-B who had all of the cool quirks but none of the luck
Midnight’s making the official announcement and everyone is cheering!
poor class B
Tumblr media
it’s not your fault, Manga. at least your team actually won, mainly thanks to you
ahhhh we’re cutting back to Shinsou and his face is hidden and he’s tugging at his scarf and hesitantly addressing Vlad and Aizawa
SHINSOU STOP IT
Tumblr media
SOMEONE GIVE HIM A HUG!! AND STOP LEAVING HIM IN SUSPENSE!!!
he says this was also supposed to be his transfer exam. so he knew??
lol Vlad is asking Aizawa if he told him, but Shinsou says he basically just put two and two together even though he wasn’t 100% sure
“not to mention, I was the only one who participated in two matches” yeah that was certainly a big clue
lmao Vlad looks so impressed
Tumblr media
just how low are your standards dude
and now Aizawa is changing the topic and says it’s time for the teachers’ critiques! OH BOY THIS OUGHTA BE GOOD
Deku’s critique basically should just consist of “what the actual fuck Midoriya”
and like I said in the previous recap, Shinsou should get credit for his performance in the first battle as well as his save in this battle which showed he has the true spirit of a hero!
LOOOOOOOOOOOL
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I WANT TO SHAKE HORIKOSHI’S GODDAMN HAND
so Aizawa’s asking what the principle is behind Deku’s new move since it’s so radically different from his established “super strength” quirk
and Deku’s just standing there nervously
Tokoyami and Kuroiro are bonding over their mutual admiration of how goth the new quirk is
Tumblr media
hmmmm how you wanna play this Deku
Tumblr media
so basically just be all “fuck if I know, this quirk only manifested for the first time eight months ago and it keeps surprising me with weird new shit. petition to rename it ‘mystery quirk’”
Tumblr media
sidestepping the question like a pro there Deku
so he says his power suddenly started overflowing and he couldn’t suppress it and it scared him, but that thanks to Shinsou and Ochako’s help it turned out all right
he says that if Shinsou hadn’t knocked him out he’s not sure what would have happened
and he’s turning to Shinsou now and explaining that he wasn’t bluffing earlier, and he’s thanking him
what the fuck Shinsou
Tumblr media
were you?? fooled me then
YESSSSSSSS GIVE OCHAKO HER PROPS
Tumblr media
SHE WAS A FUCKING BADASS. NOW TALK ABOUT THE PART WHERE SHE’S RESPONSIBLE FOR CAPTURING 3 OF THE 5 ENEMY TEAM MEMBERS
noooo goddammit Mina not now!!
Tumblr media
MINA ARE YOU JEALOUS NO ONE HAS GIVEN YOU CREDIT YET. WE WERE GETTING TO THAT, BE PATIENT
oh sheesh lmao
Tumblr media
and now she’s nervously twiddling her fingers and smiling hesitantly and saying she’d rather do that than not do anything and regret it later
oh my gosh
Tumblr media
SO PROUD OF MY LITTLE BABY GIRL. YES!!
and holy shit but I want to take that picture of him smiling almost imperceptibly and fucking frame it
look at Ochako managing to completely deflect the attention away from Deku somehow. not only was she the MVP of the battle, but she just keeps saving his ass even afterward
holy shit
Tumblr media
DEKU’S FACE ALSO BEING BEET RED THOUGH. HE MUST LOOK LIKE A GODDAMN RADISH
anyway, so Shinsou says he just did what Ochako asked him to do
yeah, but you did it despite them being on the opposing team though!
Tumblr media
exactly. you knew it was the right course of action and you didn’t hesitate
SHINSOU STOP MAKING THESE SAD FACES!!!
Tumblr media
FOR FUCK’S SAKE I CAN’T TAKE THIS??
AIZAWA OH MY GOD YES
Tumblr media
PLEASE REASSURE YOUR DEPRESSED PURPLE SON AND TELL HIM THAT HE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING WRONG AND HE’S A GOOD HERO
sdlfhaslkdfj
Tumblr media
holy --
Tumblr media
lmao at Kaminari immediately breaking into a chant. methinks the mangaka is too self-aware
and well then, since Best Dad Aizawa Shouta has officially entered the ranks of parents who occasionally discipline their children via shocking comedic violence (consider also: All Might decking Deku at the beach a mere chapter before Mitsuki’s infamous introduction), maybe we can finally put that debate to rest. I think it’s pretty clear when Horikoshi is intentionally portraying abuse and when he’s just being over the top because this is a fictional story in a fictional world where not three pages ago there was a character with a literal comic book for a head
oh snap Aizawa
Tumblr media
in other words, it’s okay to be a little selfish. sometimes selfish is even needed. because he’s absolutely right, if you don’t take care of yourself as well you’ll fuck yourself over before long and then you won’t be able to save anyone
and also, at the end of the day, if you save everyone successfully and complete the mission, does it really make sense to stand around and argue whether or not your intentions were pure enough?
anyways needless to say I’m really digging this “nobody’s perfect” speech right here you guys
Tumblr media
(ETA: oh hey it’s Aizawa’s Mysterious Cloudy Friend, Shirakumo! probably. hey Shirakumo. what’s your fucking deal goddammit)
this is basically Aizawa’s version of All Might’s speech from chapter 120. I always love when the series metas about what it means to be a hero and what separates the great ones from everyone else. and we saw firsthand in Bakugou’s match just a few chapters ago the difference it makes when a hero is focused on both winning and rescuing
now Deku is complimenting Shinsou on all of his strategic moves like dropping those pipes down on him and trying to lead him back to where everyone else was to regain his advantage
oh my god you guys Deku is so passionate and generous with his praise, this is exactly the kind of thing Shinsou needed to hear though
Tumblr media
kinda getting that “a true hero doesn’t just save people, they save people’s hearts” vibe thing here on top of everything else
oh my god Deku
Tumblr media
what the fuck are you talking about, if anything you lean into this too much and you need to relax a little and take some of Aizawa’s advice to heart
ahhhhhhhhHHHHHH
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YESSSSSSSSSSS THIS IS WHAT I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR. YOU DID IT SHINSOU I’M SO PROUD OF YOU
oh my god. the one hand clutching his scarf and the other one in a clenched fist. and that face. oh shit here come the feels
and I desperately need to know if this means next year as in January/next term, or next year as in when they move on to year 2
(ETA: Viz’s translation indicates it’ll happen in their second year of school.)
OH FOR FUCK’S SAKE
Tumblr media
GODDAMMIT HORIKOSHI I WAS SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS CHAPTER TO FIND OUT, AND THEN YOU GO AND PULL THIS SHIT. UNBELIEVABLE
(ETA: I love that both classes so clearly want him though. again, they’ve all collectively adopted him and I love it
also, class 1-A still has a traitor in their midst, so depending on when and how that all goes down, they may just end up having a vacancy, just saying...)
oh my god
Tumblr media
Mina this is why I want you to run for President. and Aizawa, she absolutely is right and he should be punished
loooool Monoma is trying!
Tumblr media
hang in there buddy
so getting back to that, I’m guessing what happened there was that he did take One for All the quirk, but not any of the stockpiled power within Izuku? because to get that it has to be willed to you by the previous owner. so basically he was trying to activate it, and it probably was working, but his version of the quirk was at OFA Prime levels. basically starting from scratch with no additional power stored up other than his own. and we all agree this is actually very fortunate for him and he’d be getting carted off to Recovery Girl right now if things had gone differently
does that not bother him, by the way? like, Ochako just figured he was “bluffing”, but Monoma knows he was actually trying to activate the quirk and nothing was happening. I wonder what he made of that. it seems like maybe he’s too caught up in the loss to class A to really think much on it just yet
(ETA: so apparently he knows enough about how his quirk works to have already figured this out, lol.)
whoa oh shit and I just read the last three panels and a ton of interesting stuff happened so quickly lol
Tumblr media
okay let’s break this down and then we’ll end the recap
(1) Deku is so fucking pure. middle of a battle and being attacked, and his only concern is that the quirk is gonna be too much for Monoma and badly injure him
(ETA: and can I just say, the other students could have used a little more of that concern though. the teachers too for that matter.)
(2) so I take this to mean Horikoshi is going to explain what happened, but for now I’m assuming my speculation is more or less near the mark. he definitely did take OFA because you could see the telltale red flashing pulsing shit happening with his skin. so it has nothing to do with Deku originally being quirkless; it’s the way that OFA as a quirk works
(3) Deku is super fucking lucky that no one started questioning what happened with his quirk again, what with Monoma bringing the subject back up
and lastly, (4) OH SHIT. is he gonna have Monoma copy Eri’s quirk to see if he can control it? lol we only just established how lucky he is to be alive after taking Deku’s quirk. what are you trying to do to this poor kid
though I am glad to see Aizawa being a logical dad who cares about his baby girl and is constantly thinking of ways in which to possibly help her out. ah well, hope nothing goes wrong there
and that’s it! on to the next chapter to hopefully see Bakugou and All Might grill Deku about WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED lol

“I’ve been dethroned.” You said tartly, together on the bleachers with Vic after school and hanging your legs limply off the furthest most left side of the row. You laid with your head in Vic’s lap, letting him mindlessly braid your hair while his eyes searched the football field for Belch, while your peers and friend barreled into each other like deranged bulls, shouts of triumph and pain reaching the two of you easily.
“You think so, Princess?” He murmured, kohl rimmed eyes finding the frown you wore. “Because methinks you’re on to something.”
A sigh, a shift of your shoulders, and he hummed, threading thin fingers through your locks and shaking loose your braids.
“What do you want to do about it?” Vic countered your silence with a prompt, one you had been mulling over for quite some time.
It was just the two of you, with Belch practicing on the field while Patrick had zipped off with the keys to the Trans-Am to grab some snacks and would be returning soon enough. Henry was MIA, and it was easy enough to guess where exactly he was at, but you didn’t dare think of the arm candy he was certainly banging in some pastel pink bedroom.
Henry had been pretty out of the way all week since the diner, his time spent with his new sweetheart or at home, avoiding you altogether and taking to hanging by his lonesome or just swinging by Belch’s once you had left. It hurt to know he was making a point to only enter a room if you had vacated it, but you guessed it made sense. The only time you really saw him was when Belch picked you up for school and dropped you off at home, or at lunch, where Henry left you to your own devices.
You knew the dynamic shifted that day at the diner, and it just became more painfully obvious as time went on, the tension between Henry and yourself made worse by your own spiteful and passive aggressive nature.
Carly’s presence at the lunch table, how Henry followed her around with an arm snaked at her hips and a hand tucked in her back pocket, or how she had started joining the crew for your days out and shenanigans after school made you feel the brunt of the change even more.
Everywhere you turned, any time you wanted to get away from the stress of classes and impending college applications, she was there. So pretty, so sweet, charming Henry and even getting Belch to soften up- then again, Belch was sure to let his guard down for any woman, he had always had a weak spot for girls, and was a perfect gentleman when it came down to it.
A week. A week of being inches from unloading another passive aggressive snarl on the girl and seven days of worrying when Henry would snap at you next.
Then came the next saturday, which had usually been the most looked forward day for any of you in the gang. It was the beginning of the weekend, obviously, but it also housed your personal favorite activity, Belch’s bonfires.
You let your saturday drone on, Vic in dance classes and Henry fucking around, the company of Belch and Patrick your shadows for that particular afternoon. Like usual, you three set it all up. It took a walk through the backwoods on Belch’s property and hauling a cooler, chairs and a couple blankets and pillows to get the job done, but you three were happy and all smiles by the time Vic arrived, dropped off by his parents and in his work out clothes.
Patrick was just then lighting the ‘bonfire’ when he showed up, which was really a rusted out fire pit Belch’s mom had picked up for him to roast marshmallows over and camp on the property with in the summers, but had instead served as the centerpiece of your saturday evenings, though a few smores had in fact been made with its use.
“That’s a lot of lighter fluid, ‘Trick.” Vic mused, coming to sit at your side and in a rickety but comfortable folding chair, settling in its polyester skin as if it were a throne.
“Fuck off, that’s how you make sure it fuckin’ lights, nimrod.” Patrick said, always on the defensive on his fire starting technique. You wouldn’t admit you thought the same, but the knowing smile you shared with Belch and Vic was proof enough that it could go unsaid.
Patrick squeezed the bottle of lighter fluid a few more times, drenching the firewood and kindling in the nasty smelling liquid before capping it and tossing the bottle aside for later use, digging in his pockets and procuring a pack of matches. He snapped one off, dragging it against the strip across the back, lighting the match with one try.
He flicked it into the pit, which roared to life instantly, the dark haired boy hovering over the flames for a moment, mesmerized by how they licked at the wood before you called out to him.
“Patrick, you’re gonna singe off your fucking eyebrows, back up you maniac.”
He rolled his eyes, but backed away and plopped down in a chair on your other side, taking his cigarettes out of the crappy mesh cup holder built into the chair and crossing his ankle over his knee, jiggling his leg in that antsy sort of way you had grown used to seeing.
“Where the fuck is Henry?” He asked aloud, sticking a cigarette between his lips and offering you the pack. You denied the offer with a quick wave of your hand, shrugging to his question.
“Dunno. Reggie, you heard anything?”
Belch lounged across the fire pit from you, nursing an ice cold beer and pulling out his phone. He typed in his passcode, scrolling a few times and frowned.
“Uh, yeah. He says he’ll be here in a bit. He’s running late.” Belch slipped his phone back in his pocket, chewing his lip, the action making you wonder if he was only giving the half truth.
Bending down beside your chair, you felt around for your backpack, unzipping it and digging past the contents. “Fine, then he can miss a chapter or two.”
“He’s gonna be pissed. We’re in the middle of the story.” Vic warned lightly, clapping his hands at Belch, who knew to throw the blond a can of beer.
You scoffed, taking out a worn and dog eared copy of ‘Dreamcatcher’ from your backpack, flipping through it until you landed on a familiar page and smoothing out the bent corner.
“Well he knows how it goes. I start reading when the sun begins to set.” You glanced up, noting how the sky was become an ocean of pastels, the hues of orange, pink, purple and blue bending across the horizon as the shadows of the fire lit the pages of your novel. “And it’s starting to set. So, tough shit, Bowers.”
You settled against the back of your chair, clearing your throat as Patrick lit his cigarette and Vic cracked open his beer, all eyes on you as you began to read.
You made it through a solid chapter before a rustling could be heard over the crackling fire, and you paused, a smile loose on your lips as you lifted your head, ready to greet Henry and welcome him to the story circle with open arms, to invite back that normalcy between the two of you and to catch him up on what he missed.
Instead, your smile dropped, and you had to clench your jaw tight from letting it drop open, watching as Henry stomped through the tall grass with Carly on his arm, her smile positively blinding.
“Wow.” You found yourself whispering lowly as they approached, Patrick’s leg coming to a stand still as he watched Henry lug his accessory to the circle.
“The fuck, [Last Name]?” Henry nodded at the book in your hands, taking to the cooler and turning from you, his words nonchalant, as if he hadn’t been ignoring and avoiding you all week. “You started without us?”
“I-” You looked to Patrick, swiveling to look at him as you whispered under your breath. “Dude am I having a fever dream?”
“No.” Patrick said back, the hand closest to you curling into a fist, the light of the fire dancing off the metals of his rings.
“Well, I wish I was.” Defeated, you turned back to Henry and Carly, who dug through the cooler together.
“Got anything that’s not beer and soda?” She asked absently, peeking over her shoulder to Belch, who shrugged uselessly.
Your eyes settled on him, and he was quick to avoid your gaze, looking positively guilty. It was then to realized he had known from the start that this was going to happen, and figured Henry had texted him earlier to announce her impending arrival.
Betrayed, irritated, and at a loss for words, you just sat there, scratching at the edge of the page, watching Carly move ice around in search for a drink to fit her delicate palette.
Why did you hate her? You wondered, really trying to find a good reason to loathe this girl, because it wasn’t like you to have this much hate for someone so easily. All she had done was make Henry happy, technically.
But god, she was disrupting the order of it all. Henry was supposed to be the first one to arrive at Belch’s on saturdays, he was the one that delegated what snacks were brought out, he was the one who tried time and again to throw his back out by refusing help when carrying the cooler through the woods.
But he had been gone. He had been with her.
You had felt his absence all day, itching at your thoughts while you folded up blankets and chatted with Mama Huggins as she made you, Belch, and Patrick lunch.
Belch was supposed to be all light hearted and joking, face flushed from alcohol consumption and munching on a bag of fritos. Now, he was just looking uncomfortable and wearing a fake smile, trying to pretend he wasn’t bothered by the intrusion.
Vic was quiet, Patrick clearly less than thrilled, and you couldn’t help but know that this was what the boys had been talking about just weeks before.
This was jealousy now, not envy. You didn’t want Henry per say, not like that. But you wanted his attention, his presence in your life, and to not worry about some girl you barely knew stomping through the years of friendship between you, him, and the others.
You were jealous she had Henry, you were angry Henry was avoiding you because of some girl, and god dammit you were furious that you didn’t have a good excuse to say all this out loud. If you did, you’d just be proving all the boys right, and part of you worried that you’d seem a little weaker in Henry or Patrick’s eyes.
So you sat there, politely allowing yourself to be silenced as you watch Henry and Carly collect themselves in one of the worn out folding chairs. Henry cracked open a beer in one hand, his other stuck to Carly’s hip as she positioned herself on his lap and held onto a soda, the both of them laying their eyes on you.
“Go ahead, start.” Henry nodded at you, and you saw a flash behind his eyes, a wordless warning not to act up. He was, in his mind, giving you a chance to behave. If you fucked it up this time, you were sure you’d be getting something worse than a cold shoulder.
You sighed softly, collecting yourself and clearing your throat before you set to the page, reading from where you left off, ignoring the coil of submission that built in you.
So no, you hadn’t just realized how fucked everything was while sitting on the bleachers. You had known for days. But now was the time to finally discuss it, between Vic and yourself, like it had always been.
“I don’t know what to do, Vic. Henry likes her, she makes him happy, I guess.” You said dejectedly, watching across the field as Vic smoothed your hair back in a comforting gesture. “It’s not my place to butt heads with him, especially not now, when we’re at odds with each other.”
“But you’re miserable.” Vic quipped, frowning and then nudging you. “You hate her, don’t you?”
“God, yes.” You groaned, “I hate her so much, she’s everywhere I fucking look. Class? There. Lunch? She’s there now too. Henry has made Belch pick her up from home so many times this week that I’m surprised Patrick hasn’t strangled her in the back.”
“Oh, I’m sure he wants to, knowing that boy.” Vic assured you, and you turned your head back to face him, searching his expression, which remained neutral. “Patrick’s picking up on what you’re feeling, and he’s just itching to unleashing it tenfold. If Patrick could have legally done it, I’m pretty sure he would have set her on fire by now.”
Passively, you raised an eyebrow. “You think he hates her that much?”
Vic shrugged, helping you sit up and watched as you situated yourself to sit beside him on the bleachers, stretching your arms out. “I don’t think Patrick hates things. He’s Patrick. If he doesn’t like something, he doesn’t think to even consider it worth his hatred. No.. No, he just wants her gone, just as much as you do. It took forever to get along with you, and that only worked out because you made him like you.”
“I did not.” You huffed.
“Did to.” Vic nudged you with a smirk. “You couldn’t stand him not liking you. You’re so eager to please, Princess, so you spent the better half of two years making that idiot warm up to you, and that’s probably the only reason he puts up with your bullshit.”
“Uh huh, that’s besides the point.” You averted your gaze, thinking to yourself how odd you felt to be pinned under such a accurate description of how yours and Patrick’s friendship came to be.
“Fair enough, but yeah. Carly’s nothing in his eyes, he probably wants to chuck her to the curb and get on with his life, his routine. So…”
You heard his voice tilt and drift off, a telltale sign he was fast at work, the cogs in his mind spinning as he fought to think of something.
“So, he could be of use.” He finished finally, and you blinked, looking back to Vic.
“Dude, what are you even talking about? Be of use to what?”
The blond drummed his nails against the thigh of his jeans, lips pulling into a mischievous smirk that you had learned to associate with Vic thinking of the most blatantly stupid shit, including but not limited to; The time he stole a 40oz from Keenes, when he pantsed the vice principal at homecoming in junior year, and from when he convinced you to help him climb the water tower- where the two of you (being twelve and incredibly stupid) were caught by Butch Bowers and given a weeks worth of community service.
“You’re not gonna like this.”
“Oh, I can fucking tell I’m not.” You replied apprehensively, but a curious and incredibly naive part of you just wanted to know what insanity the boy at your side was cooking up in his twisted little head. “But go on.”
“Hear me out,” He raised his hands, swiveling himself to face you fully and fold an ankle under a knee of his to sit comfortably. “If we want shit to get back to normal, we gotta tip the scales, big time. Henry tossed the dynamic into the trash, so we gotta fuck it up further. We gotta tip those scales into hades, [First Name], and I know just what will throw the balance out of whack enough that Henry Fucking Bowers will actually grow a brain cell and see what he’s fucked with, y’know?”
“Vic, that’s a little dramatic, rane it back buddy, come to the light a little.” You caught yourself holding back a laugh, surprised to see Vic so intense and focused on something that would apparently upset Henry.
“Oh no, we’re going dark, [First Name].” He clapped his hands together once, eyes bright and suggestive. “Are you ready to do what it takes to get Carly Henderson out of your life?”
“I guess?”
“Then date Patrick Hockstetter.”
You gapped at the blond, blinking furiously before letting out a near shriek. “WHAT.”
It echoed, and Belch’s head snapped you face the two of you, getting tackled by someone before he could make sense of anything. You flinched, hissing through your teeth.
“Sorry Reggie!” You called, and he picked himself up, waving you off as he returned to his practice.
Once his eyes left you, you turned on Vic, voice a low whisper.
“What the fuck, Victor. No, I’m not dating Patrick. Are you insane? You’re talking about ruining the crew, not fixing it. If we dated-”
“[First Name].” Vic held a hand up to silence you. “Shut up for a sec.”
You clamped your mouth shut at the order, but your eyes burned and your nostrils flared.
“Don’t actually Date Patrick, idiot. Fake date him. Let him in on the plan to overthrow Henderson, remind him it’s fake, and this’ll go smoothly.” He paused. “Probably.”
“Probably?” You repeated, voice imitating his tone, if not with a touch more sarcasm.
“Hey, Patrick Hockstetter if a fucking man of his own league. I don’t know what he’s thinking half the time and he has a fixation with fire and probably has a choking fetish. He’s unstable enough that I can’t be one hundred percent sure he’d play the part right, but,” He stressed, shoulders relaxing. “He’d play it well. He’s comfortable enough with you to get hands on at a moments notice, and as long as you’re able to look over your crush for him, I think you two could pull it off.”
You tensed. “What?”
“I said-”
You reached out, snatching his collar and dragging him close, breath playing with the ends of his hair as your eyes froze him from the intensity they held. “How did you know?”
Carefully, slowly, the blond began to pry your fingers from his shirt. “I’ve known since sophomore year, if you’re asking about the crush thing.”
You frantically searched your memories, trying to place what he was talking about. You had only recently found yourself thinking of Patrick that way, he wasn’t even on your radar before then.
“Relax.” You heard him assure you softly. “No one knows but me. The others are about as smart as a bag of rocks, and thats almost insulting the rocks. Patrick has friendzoned you, that much is obvious, so it’s not like its going to be a thing ever. Calm down, I can feel your anxiety, dumbass.”
You let out a shaky breath, surprised by how defensive and scared the possibility of Vic knowing about your feelings for Patrick made you.
“It just, like, happened. I guess.”
“I get it. I used to have a thing for Belch.” Vic waved his hand, and you gave him a mildly confused look. “I hid it well. You’re the only one who knows I like boys and girls, anyhow. I gave up when Belch got his first girlfriend. He’s so hetero is fuckin’ hurts sometimes, it wasn’t worth it to pine after him.”
He shrugged, scratching at his neck. Vic’s eyes wandered across the field and he perked up. “Pat’s coming, you have about a minute before he’s in ear shot. What’s the deal, you gonna do it? Ask him to fake date you?”
You frowned, eyes landing on the dark haired boy who strolled through the edges of the field like a shadow, smoke following him while he carried a plastic bag in his hand and a cigarette in the other.
“What if something goes wrong and I fuck up what we have?” You murmured, voicing your real concerns. “Fake dating or not, I have feelings for him, and that can go downhill really fast. What if we dated instead?”
Vic scoffed. “You think they’d believe it? Really? Us? We’ve slept in the same bed since we were like four, I’ve seen you naked more times then I can count, and the guys know all this.”
Patrick, closer now, held up a hand in greeting, lowering it to his mouth shortly after and sucking on the cigarette he had.
You and Vic raised your hands as well, and you forced a smile.
“Fake it till to make it, [First Name]. Who knows, maybe being his fake girlfriend will make you realize how much of a dick he is and your feelings will change. It’s worth a shot if you want to get rid of Henderson.”
Patrick blew smoke from his mouth and your heart caught in your throat when his grin found you as he rounded the last corner of the field.
“I’ll think about it. Now drop it, and if he asks, we were arguing about anything but Carly, got it?”
He sighed lowly, but acknowledged your request.
“What’re you guys so worked up about?” Patrick said, finally in ear shot as he slowly climbed the bleachers, stomping up and rattling them as he went. The bag was swung into your lap as he dropped between you and Vic, taking a drag of his cigarette and smirking.
“Wondering why it took your ass like twenty minutes to grab some snacks, you dip.” Vic cracked a smile, digging into the pocket of his bomber jacket and opening his pack of gold marlboros, taking one out and patting himself down for a lighter. “Did you get my Arizona?”
“Yeah, I got your fuckin’ tea.” Patrick nodded at the bag, which you opened and started removing items from. “I was making a few rounds too, by the way. How else do you expect me to get extra dough for shit? Sitting on my ass? The only time any of these Derry fucks want to snag some weed from me is after classes are out, everyone’s too much of a pussy to ask for some during school.”
“Expulsion on sight is the punishment for smoking or dealing at school, ‘Trick.” You reminded him, leaning across him to hand Vic his drink.
“Whatever.” He shrugged passively, watching you crack open the drink you requested, a bottle of the rare but delicious ruby red squirt soda.
The three of you fell into casual conversation, though you strained yourself to comply with answers, too focused on the plan Vic had given you, too concerned with weighing your options. You drifted through the rest of the evening, seemingly airheaded and attention stuck elsewhere, Patrick and Belch both checking in with you but only receiving a soft smile and an assurance that you were fine.
The next day came, you were distracted, quiet even in the car. You spent that morning in Vic’s lap instead of Patrick’s and no matter how many times Vic whined for you to smile for the camera as he held his phone up to take photo after photo of the two of you, you would only manage a wry smile that just didn’t do the trick.
Belch even stopped for coffee that morning, though Carly insisted he head out of the way of the gang’s usual haunt of Donut Dans and forcing you all to stop at Starbucks. Sure, the coffee was better, but the defiance and resistance Henry’s girlfriend had to negate the cheaper but well loved alternative left you with a bitter frown all the way back to school.
You leaned against the Trans-Am as students slowly filled the parking lot of Derry High, sipping on your iced coffee and scrolling through your phone. Henry was talking to you more now since the bonfire, but it did little to improve your mood. In fact, you were itching to get away from the gang the moment you exited the car.
Patrick was quiet at your side, coffeeless and smothered in cigarette smoke that morning. He had sucked down two since you got in the car with him, and was on his third. It didn’t take a genius to know something was bothering him too, and you thought back to what Vic had said, about Patrick picking up on your moods and intensifying them.
You tucked your phone away, Henry entertaining the others with a story and the attention solely on him. Patrick however, saw you shift against the vehicle and snapped out of his thoughts, looking to you.
You regarded him quietly, then teetered to the side, bumping his shoulder softly. “Wanna hang tonight? My parents won’t be home ‘till late, Vic is at dance practice until ten, and I’d like to go to your house and watch a movie or something.”
Grey-green eyes considered you, and you noticed how tense his jawline was before it loosened and you saw his posture relax. He had been on guard, you realized, and that fact worried you. Why was he on edge near you?
“I don’t want to be alone.” You admitted to him, giving a little shrug.
Finally, he nodded, lifting his cigarette to his lips. “I’ll let my Ma know you’ll be over for dinner.”
You patted his shoulder, and took a step away from the group. “I’m heading to class. Later Kiddos.”
Saluting them, and receiving a chorus of farewells, you walked away, sipping at your drink and wondering, hoping, if you had made the right choice in seeing Patrick that night.
The Hockstetter home sat idly on a street where every house had a picket fence, neatly clipped lawns and polished cars. The sidewalks weren’t cracked like they were near Belch’s house, or over grown to the point no one could see them on the backroads of Derry that led to Henry’s farm. The trees that lined the backs of houses had tire swings, the gardens that neighbours pruned and weeded were glorious and overfilled with flowers of varying shades and sizes, nothing seeming out of place and brightening the scenery considerably.
The Hockstetter home was nice, a handsome size with white paint, large and spotless windows, with a nice sized front porch that housed several chairs and a couple side tables. The lawn out front was mowed, and the rose bushes that wrung around the front trailed to the back, where you had spent afternoons laying in the grass with Patrick and the other members of the Bowers Gang, chatting amicably or listening to music on a portable speaker Patrick stole out of his dad’s office.
Walking inside, you would meet a foyer with a sizeable staircase, the wall it rested on showcasing shadow boxes of past family members and Charles Hockstetter’s coin collection- which had a few missing pieces, you were always quick to notice.
With hardwood floors, white linen high backed chairs and cream colored couches with perfectly fluffed pillows, you were able to see the stark difference between Patrick’s room and the rest of the house, which his mother had decorated and kept impeccably clean.
It wasn’t always his room, it had once simply been the basement, but once Patrick had started blaring his music at the highest notch on his speakers and bringing girls home, his parents had agreed to let him take over the deepest pits of the Hockstetter house.
It was dark down there, the flood windows covered by thick curtains and the limited amount of false lighting he had were only turned on when guests arrived. Patrick was happy to slink around in the blackness, and you joked with him plenty of times that he had night vision, because he never seemed to trip or stumble in the darkness when he searched out his lamps for you or the others to be able to see in his room.
When those lights came on, you were able to see a messy expanse. His bed was pushed against a center wall, a single blanket and pillow folded around each other on the deep colored forest green sheets, there were clothes everywhere, and spare vinyl records he had never bothered to stuff back in the casings scattered about.
Patrick’s closet was always open, and you could see the basses he stuffed in there and speakers too, or the deep winter clothes he kept carefully hung up, waiting to be used when Maine finally got its snow for the year.
Opposite his bed was a comfy and torn up couch, broken and sagging on some spots, but you loved the piece of trash to death. You’d fallen asleep on it countless times, snuggled in the smell of clove cigarettes, damp earth and a musk that was just Patrick- all encompassing, all comforting. There was a TV across the way, a coffee table in between the two, where Patrick’s boots always seemed to be glued too when watching a movie, an ashtray located there as well, which he actually made an effort to clean up now and again. Aside from that there were bean bag chairs tossed into the corner, usually claimed by Belch and Vic when they hung out, but left alone when you arrived.
You liked Patrick’s room. It was so him, from the posters of horror movies and bands he enjoyed, to the shelving in his room filled to the brim of slasher films, cartoons and thick bound psychology books (which you assumed were for decoration only), the room just said “Patrick Hockstetter”.
Upon entering the house, dropped off by Belch after leaving Vic at his dance studio, you saw Angela Hockstetter turn a corner.
Tired and worn, she still smiled brightly at you, dressed smartly in a pastel green blouse and black slacks. Her hair was still pulled in a tight bun from work, where you knew she spent the day defending criminals and mad men in front of a jury.
“[First Name], it’s good to see you!”
Patrick, as he always did, rounded his mother without so much as a greeting. Her dark eyes followed her son, but they snapped back to you, her smile thinning.
“Nice to see you too, Mrs. Hockstetter. Are you sure you’re okay with me staying for dinner?”
“Oh,” She waved a hand, the light of the foyer chandelier catching a glimmer against the diamond on her wedding ring. “It’s nothing, sweetheart. I’m always happy to have you here. You’re such a good friend to Patrick, and his father hasn’t seen you in ages. We’re having noodles, and since I know you like them, I’ll go ahead and make some tofu spring rolls, with the little peanut sauce.”
As mouthwatering as the food sounded, you still found yourself a little starstruck, seeing as it was laughable how easy it was to forget that Patrick was half vietnamese. It was only when you visited his house that you remembered, his mother’s style of cooking and appearance a reminder each time.
“That sounds amazing,” You nodded eagerly. “If you need help, please, tell me-”
“Don’t worry about it, and,” She looked over her shoulder, to where Patrick hovered by the doorway of the living room, which would lead to a hall that would take the two of you to the basement. “Patrick, don’t forget to wash up for dinner. We have a guest.”
Angela nodded at you, Patrick’s eyes rolling skyward.
He muttered something, and quick as a whip, with a hard smile, Angela snapped something right back at him in her native tongue.
Whatever it was, it made him bristle, and he jerked his head away and said something flatly back in the same language, the whole scene leaving you a little awkward and at the mercy of your gut assumptions that it had to do with you.
“Lets go.” Patrick ordered, leaving with a frown.
“I’ll make black rice pudding too,” Excited by the prospect to have a guest to impress, Angela looked to you with  kinder eyes. “I’ll call for you two when it’s ready.”
Dismissed, you hurried after Patrick, who had thrown open the door to his room and ducked through the doorway to head down the stairs.
You caught up after him, shutting the door behind you and trudging after him in the darkness. As always, you waited at the bottom of the stairs, barely hearing him maneuver through the maze of his room for lamps to light.
When the first one turned on you hopped off the last step, watching the lanky teen make his way over  clumps of loose clothing to turn on a few more lights.
“So, what’d she say?”
His eyes flickered to you as he bent down, turning the last lamp on and straightening. “Does it matter?” He said, the tone in his voice daring you to push.
You didn’t, shaking your head and stepping over the landmines, heading to the couch. “Nah, guess not. At least your mom likes me, I guess. She’s always so annoyed when Henry comes over.”
“She doesn’t like him.” Patrick replied simply, going to the shelving by the television and running a finger across the spines of movies. “She likes Vic though, and Belch. They’re polite.”
You dropped down on a cushion, shifting into a comfortable position and shrugging off your jacket, you bit your lip, noticing how he didn’t agree or repeat that yes, his mother did in fact like you. Angela was like her son, in the way what she could make a convincing face and pretend she enjoyed your company, and she did so with Henry anytime he was over.
“She likes you.” Patrick’s voice brought you from your thoughts and he plucked a movie from the wall, flipping around to face you, regarding you with a barely there smirk. “Incase you were wondering, and I know you were. She likes you, a lot.”
“Ominous.”
“Your family is well off, you’re planning on going to a four year college, you tolerate me.” Patrick’s eyes left you as he spoke, wandering to the dvd player by the tv and messing around with it, opening the movie case. “Honestly, Angela Hockstetter would roll a red carpet out for you every time you came over, if she got the chance.”
You laughed a little. “Thats a little much, don’t you think?”
“Whatever you say.” He replied, rounding the coffee table with the remote in hand, the screen of the television coming to life as he plopped down beside you, brushing against your shoulder and pressing the appropriate buttons to switch to the dvd player input.
“What movie did you pick?” You asked, curious, usually Patrick would ask you your preference for the night and go from there.
“House of Wax. Your favorite.” His lips quirked, a sinister little smile replacing the apathetic expression he had worn since fiddling with the dvd player.
You gave a groan, smacking his chest lightly as he laughed at your side. “You ass.”
House of Wax was not your favorite film, by any means. It as cheesy, sure, with lots of slasher gore that you would normally enjoy, and a handsome villain, but it had always spooked you just a little too much, no matter how many times you’d been forced to watch it. Something about the very idea, of real people being under the wax, was utterly horrifying, and you’d never been able to sit through a few of the scenes, including the god awful sex scenes and cringey 2005 humor.
“I hate you, I can’t believe you’re making me see Jared Padalecki get hosed down with wax for the eighteenth time.” But you curled up your legs on the couch despite your complaints, feeling the normalcy of spending an evening watching horror movies with Patrick taking priority over your indifference for the choice of film.
“More like the twentieth, keep up, Princess.”
A lean arm was thrown over your shoulders as he turned up the volume with the remote and you didn’t resist the hold, scooting closer and relaxing against him, finding him to do the same. Before long, you were sucked in the film, flinching at all the old jumpscares you’d seen time and again, and feeling disgust as the plot progressed. Still, you were hooked, and Patrick was too, laughing where you’d be horrified, and nudging you when that fateful Jared scene arose.
You scrunched up your nose, but watched on.
Sitting there, curled close together and enjoying a horror movie, struck your thoughts. You wondered back to Vic’s proposition, chewing on your lip as the movie went on without your attention, Patrick still absorbed while you thought.
It could be like this. Dating him, fake dating him. It would be easy to fool the Henry and Belch. You’d just need to sneak off to his house more and do exactly what you were doing then, maybe up the PDA since Patrick was constantly all over his dates in the past. The only thing, and it hurt your head to think about, was that there would be the evidence factor.
Patrick Hockstetter was not a gentle lover. His girlfriends returned to school after nights with him showcasing purple and yellow blotches on their necks, or red and raw love bites dipping far past their collar. He’d jerk them around, bite their lips until they were sore and bruised and kiss them until their lungs gave out. He was intense, overbearing, and possessive.
If you wanted to get away with the little trick you wanted to pull, you’d have to ante up more than spending a night on his couch and holding hands in public. You’d have to commit to physical affection, rough grips on your hips, and hickeys across your skin.
Henry wouldn’t believe it otherwise, unless you looked the part of a victim of Patrick’s lust, you’d never get away with it.
“What is it.”
Your head snapped up, and you blinked. “Hm?”
Patrick watched you through long lashes, expression stoic. “What’s wrong? You’re outta it tonight. You’ve been outta it for a few days, actually.”
“Uh,” You almost chewed your lip, but knew it would give you away. “Just stuff, don’t worry ‘Trick.”
“Not worried. Curious.” He stated simply, exhaling softly. “Whatever then, don’t tell me.”
“Don’t guilt me, Hockstetter.”
“Don’t know what you’re talking about, Princess.”
There was a grip of tension in the air, and you could tell Patrick was borderline insulted you wouldn’t fess up to your thoughts. You deliberated your options in silence before sliding away from him, to which he gave an indignant click of his tongue.
“Really?” He almost sneered, eyes hard.
You gauged him thoughtfully, and shifted yourself to face him, a leg hanging off the edge of the couch with the other tucked under you. “Listen, you wanna know what’s on my mind?”
“What gave you that idea?” He snarked, a frown forming. “Why? You actually going to tell me?”
“Yes, if you drop the attitude.” You shot back, and watched as his mouth close, his way of allowing you to continue. “Vic and I were talking-”
“Lord save me.” Patrick cracked an almost disappointed smile, as if he pitied what was to come out of your mouth next. “What now?”
“Shut the fuck up, Patrick. Damn. Give me the benefit of the doubt.”
“When Vic is involved, I’m happy to say that I’m wary of his plots and exploits, thank you. He’s an adrenaline junkie and a party animal when it comes down to it, don’t deny this.”
“Just because he-”
“Just because he what? Drank a bottle of perfume at a party, shattered an urn and lit a kitchen on fire in one night, doesn’t mean I can make an educated guess that what is about to come outta that pretty little mouth of yours is one hundred percent idiocy, through and through?”
Stunned and a little insulted, you frowned. “Forget it.”
“No, do tell, Princess. Entertain me, please.” Sarcasm drenched his words and he stifled a laugh.
“It’s about Carly Henderson.”
The dark haired boy tipped his head back, unleashing an almost earth shattering groan.
“What? What could Vic possibly be cooking up that involves that whore, and why the fuck are you getting involved.”
He wiped a hand down his face, from nose to mouth, watching you with a steely gaze.
“At this point, I don’t want to even tell you.” You threw your arms up, exasperated. “You’re such an ass, why can’t you have faith in me-”
“Prove it then.” He wound his hands up in a fashion, as if near defeat. “What’s the brilliant plan? Are you guys trying to get rid of Carly?”
Your rocked to the side, picking at your jeans. “Yes.” You mumbled.
He rolled his eyes. “Henry’ll run her off soon enough.”
“No, not soon enough, Patrick.” You argued back. “She’s sucking my soul away, I swear. I’m not ready to spend the next however long dealing with her meddling in my life. She’s at the bonfire, she’s at the diner, it’s driving me insane, ‘Trick.”
“You’re being stupid.” He leaned forward, prodding a finger against your forehead, making you wince. “She isn’t worth the effort.”
Annoyed now, you move his hand away. “She is.”
“Fine then. Lay it on me.” Patrick rose an eyebrow, and you noticed how his eyes lingered on the curves of your face before he backed away, letting you breathe.
You exhaled sharply, collecting yourself and then just tossed it out there. “Vic thinks if we fake dating each other, that Henry would see how much he’s fucked with the group and drop Carly.”
Silence, aside from the sounds of a murder about to play out on screen, Paris Hilton’s hiccuping sobs emulating the anxiety surging through your body as Patrick just… Stared at you.
Slowly, he closed his eyes, and shook his head.
“Repeat that.”
“Patrick-”
“Repeat.”
You heaved a sigh. “I want to fake date you to knock Carly Henderson into the grass, alright.”
His eyes snapped open, and the harshness behind them shocked you. “You want to use me?”
“Yes.” You knew that’s what this was, that what you had planned was centered around taking advantage of Patrick’s help more so than anything.
A laugh, bitter and short, left him before he sat up straighter. “Is that what you really want, Princess? Do you want to make the wicked witch of the west go away this much? Enough to ask me, flat out, to let you use me for your own selfish gain?”
Again, with your tongue prodding your cheek and eyes cold, you replied. “Yes.”
He clicked his tongue, sinking back against the couch and considering you with a dark look. “You know, jealousy is really fucking ugly on you, sweetheart.” He said almost endearingly, and you watched him take out a pack of smokes. “So tell me. Do you have a thing for Bowers?”
“No, that’s not what this is about.” You defended, Patrick lighting his cigarette and tossing his pack on the coffee table. “I don’t have a thing for Henry. I swear, I just think it’s unfair and ridiculous to give into Henry’s bullshit when it’s…”
“Distracting attention away from you?” He offered, then held up a finger, thinking out loud. “Diminishing your relationship with Henry? Threatening your position? Making you feel weaker?” He faked a quiet gasp when you flinched at those words. “You’re worried you’ll be replaced, Princess?”
Smoke curled from his mouth, and for the first time in years, you felt almost threatened by Patrick. He was hitting home, striking a match under you, making you squirm.
You hated it.
You launched forward, digging your knees into the cushions and looming above him. Patrick wore an apathetic expression, but you saw how his eyes danced at your show of dominance.
“No one is going to replace me, Hockstetter. I’m going to make sure of that, and you are going to help me keep it that way.” Your lip curled with your words, the dark haired boy below you scratching absently at his jaw.
Arrogant, the both of you. Abrasive, the both of you. Cunning, the both of you.
Patrick tilted his head back, blowing smoke past his lips and watching you closely. “Why should I? I could take this shit to Henry, instead. Get you in trouble.”
Your tongue slid across the bottoms of your teeth. It was a game of control he was playing now, a game of chicken.
Your friend or not, you had insulted Patrick by asking to use him. He wasn’t a tool, you knew he wasn’t, and he knew he wasn’t. You approached the situation wrong, and now you were paying the price. He was furious with you, even if he didn’t say it, his intense and closed off demeanor spoke for itself.
“You want her gone too.”
“Sure. But I’m not willing to fuck with Henry to do it.” Nimble fingers brought his cigarette back, and he sucked on the filter, the end red hot and glowing.
“Yes you are.” You assured him, and finally dropped the last of your regard for space, slipping closer and resting a knee between his thighs, dangerously close to him. The act itself caused him to bristle, but you pressed on, reaching to tuck hair behind his eyes like he would normally do so endearingly to you. His piercings glinted in the light as you continued. “You want it to go back to normal. You’re a man of routine, and Henderson is fucking with you as much as she’s fucking with me, just in different ways.”
“Look at you,” He mused softly. “You really want this, don’t you? Can’t stand anyone possibly taking away your throne.”
“No, I can’t.”
His eyes searched your own, though you were unsure of what he hoped to find. Whatever it was, he must have seen it, because slowly, with a dangerous glint in those bright eyes of his, he smirked.
“What do I get out of this.”
“The same thing I get. Order.” And I know that’s what you want. You thought to yourself, staring him down.
“A common goal for the common good. Not my style, but for you…” Patrick flipped and pressed the cigarette to your lips, little wisps of smoke leaving him as he spoke. “Anything.”

The life you have led …

Twenty years from now … 19:” Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do .”- Mark Twain?
While this is one of the most popular travel quotes of all time, it’s actually FAKE. Mark Twain never said this. The real writer is H. Jackson Browne Jr. in his volume PS I Love You, about letters written to his mom.
There are a few fake travel quotes out there, so be careful what you share!

I completely agree with Michener. There’s really no point in traveling to a new nation if you’re only interested in staying inside the walls of a resort. I believe that the point of traveling is to learn about new cultures and customs and truly open our minds.
People don’t take journeys … 27:” People don’t take journeys, trips take people .”- John Steinbeck
Here’s another quote that isn’t exactly true. While not wholly fake, it is a paraphrase of Steinbeck’s actual terms in Travels With Charley: In Search Of America that reads :P TAGEND “A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all schemes, precautions, policies and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a trip takes us .”

Yes, travelling does require some money. However, you’ll also need to gather enough fortitude to temporarily cast off everything about your daily life that makes it so comfortable — and boring.

33:” He who would travel merrily must travel light .”- Antoine de St. Exupery
This became one of my travel mottoes after an unfortunate experience trying to schlep a massive knapsack from the airport to a hotel via public transportation. I know exactly what ol’ Antoine was talking about in this travel quote!

Not all those who wander …
Strangers should be friends.
35:” Not all persons who stray are lost .”- J.R.R. Tolkien
Tolkien’s wisdom truly shines through in this quote. I have applied it to several of my trip-ups by allowing myself to simply wander through a new land as opposed to plotting everything out first.
36: “The more I traveled the more I realized that fear induces strangers of people who should be friends.”- Shirley MacLaine
This quote is as relevant today as it was when it was first uttered. People have an unfortunate tendency to claim others as their foe without even getting to know them first. This is an issue that’s propagated by anxiety of the unknown, and it has led to a lot of lost opportunities throughout history.
37:” I travel a lot; I hate having my life disrupted by routine .”- Caskie Stinnett

This simple experience still defines Nicaragua for me in a way that visiting a famous tourist attraction never could.
42: “One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of insuring things.”- Henry Miller
I frequently remind myself of this quote about traveling from Henry Miller. After all, simply checking off travel locations means nothing if you don’t allow each journey to change you in some manner. I love to soak up a new culture and learn more about the locals’ point of view.
I haven’t been everywhere but … 43: “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.”- Susan Sontag
Every place on the planet has great potential to help us learn and grow. That’s the primary reason that there’s nowhere in the world I wouldn’t run if I had safe passageway. Right now, there are some cities and nations that aren’t very welcoming, but I’d still love to see them someday.
44: “Nobody can discover the world for somebody else. Merely when we discover it for ourselves does it become common ground and a common bond and we cease to be alone.”- Wendell Berry
You cannot maybe hope to learn the true nature of the world by doing nothing more than reading about it. As valuable as reading is, it always takes a backseat to discovering the world for yourself.

Take only memories … 45: “Take only memories, leave merely footprints.”- Chief Seattle
This is one of the classic travel quotes that everyone would be well-advised to remember. It breaks my heart to see historic areas filled with trash by careless travelers. We have a responsibility to preserve things as much as possible.
46: “Two roads diverged in a timber and I- I took the one less traveled by.”- Robert Frost
I took Frost’s words at face value in my teen years, but as an adult, I realize there’s much more to his sentiment. Seeing and doing the same things as everyone else can make it difficult to discover your own true identity.
47: “There is no moment of delight in any pilgrimage like the beginning of it.”- Charles Dudley Warner
The start of each new trip is an exciting time that’s characterized by a mixture of wonder and fear. You have no idea if the trip will go as planned, but the unknown is what builds everything so exciting.

Invest in yourself through travel … 50: “Investment in traveling is an investment in yourself.”- Matthew Karsten
Yup. I’m Matthew Karsten, and I totally just snuck in one of my own traveling quotes. Haha! But I really mean this too. But traveling taught me a lot about life, as well as myself.
51: “For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”- Robert Louis Stevenson

Better to see something once … 53: “Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times.”- Asian Proverb
This is, by far, my favorite Asian proverb, and it’s truly one of the world’s most accurate travel quotes. I am always in awe when I find myself standing in front of an iconic landmark. Sometimes, they’re less impressive than the narratives I’ve heard, but even that’s a worthwhile experience.

Nothing is yours except the essential things — air, sleep, dreamings, the high seas, the sky. All things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.”- Cesare Pavese
Pavese’s volumes often spoke about loneliness and the inability to connect to others in a meaningful way. Although his commentary on traveling does contain some truth, I’ve always taken it with a grain of salt. Many people say inspiring things, but Komisar has lived them as a successful venture capitalist. Don’t fall into the trap of believing there will eventually be a perfect time to follow your dreamings. Through traveling, I’ve learned the only perfect time is now.
Life is short and the world is wide …
Spending your life not doing …
58: “Life is short and the world is wide, the sooner you start exploring it, the better.”- Simon Raven

59: “The journey not the arrival matters.”- T.S. Eliot
Eliot’s poetry inspired countless novelists, but I’ve always been the most taken by this simplistic quote. When I first started traveling, I placed route too much focus on getting to my destination. By learning to let that go, I’ve developed some of my fondest traveling memories.

Anna Quindlen’s words have made a big difference in my life. It’s so easy to get stuck believing that what we’re doing right now is all we’ll ever do. It’s also style too easy to get sucked into identifying too strongly with the errors of our past.
14:” Broad, wholesome, charitable positions of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all of one’s lifetime .”- Mark Twain

Not all those who wander are lost … 35:” Not all those who stray are lost .”- J.R.R. Tolkien

36: “The more I traveled the more I realized that fear stimulates strangers of people who should be friends.”- Shirley MacLaine

Take only memories, leave only footprints … 45: “Take only memories, leave merely footprints.”- Chief Seattle

53: “Better to see something once than hear about it a thousand times.”- Asian Proverb
This is, by far, my favorite Asian proverb, and it’s truly one of the world’s more accurate traveling quotes. I am always in awe when I find myself standing in front of an iconic landmark. Sometimes, they’re less impressive than the narratives I’ve heard, but even that’s a worthwhile experience.

Pavese’s volumes often spoke about loneliness and the inability to is attached to others in a meaningful way. Although his commentary on traveling does contain some truth, I’ve always taken it with a grain of salt. Yes, traveling are likely to be brutal at times, but I believe it’s also one of the most freeing experiences a person can have.

Anything can be.”- Shel Silverstein 57: “And then there is the most dangerous danger of all — health risks of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later.”- Randy Komisar

59: “The journey not the arrival matters.”- T.S. Eliot
Eliot’s poetry inspired countless writers, but I’ve always been the most taken by this simplistic quote. When I first started traveling, I placed style too much focus on getting to my destination. By learning to let that run, I’ve developed some of my fondest traveling memories.
60: “What you’ve done becomes the magistrate of what you’re going to do — especially in other people’s intellects. When you’re traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don’t have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road.”- William Least Heat Moon
Heat-Moon was so dedicated to writing unique travel books that he journeyed across the U.S. in a 1975 Econoline van. This is an adventure I long to replicate. I also love the idea of getting a fresh start in every new township, and that’s exactly what happens if you’re willing to leave your past behind.

Travel isn’t always fairly …
1:” Adventure is worthwhile .”- Aesop
It doesn’t get more simplistic than Aesop’s take on traveling, the ancient Greek fabulist and storyteller. But that’s exactly why this classic travel quote continues to inspire me. Adventure can remind you about what’s important in life.
2: “Travel isn’t always fairly. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey alterations you; it should change you. 5:” A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles .”- Tim Cahill

11: “The man who runs alone can start today; but he who travels with another must wait till that other is ready.”- Henry David Thoreau
I’ve heeded Henry David Thoreau’s advice on many occasions. In fact, of all the quotes about traveling I’ve collected here, this one has been the most influential. Don’t be afraid to travel alone.
To awaken alone in a strange town …
The life you have led …

While this is one of the most popular travel quotes of all time, it’s actually FAKE. Mark Twain never said this. The real author is H. Jackson Browne Jr. in his book PS I Love You, about letters written to his mom.
There are a few fake travel quotes out there, so be careful what you share!
Anonymous Quotes On Traveling Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before. 20:” Once a year, run someplace you’ve never been before .”- Anonymous

Money makes traveling a potential, but it doesn’t enrich you like sharing experiences with new cultures. I’m not sure who coined this inspirational travel quote, but they reach the fingernail on the head!
22: “To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries.”- Aldous Huxley
In perhaps the timeliest travel quote of all, Huxley reminds us that countries themselves aren’t bad , nor are their residents. Governments can be corrupt, but the spirit of the people always lives on.

Creator of the famous Fodor Guides Eugene Fodor’s quote assists be pointed out that people of almost any budget can travel. For example, a few years ago I hitchhiked across the United Country for 5 weeks, and “its one” of my best travel experiences.
26: “If you reject the food, ignore the customs, dread the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay at home.”- James Michener
I completely agree with Michener. There’s really no phase in traveling to a new nation if you’re only interested in staying inside the walls of a resort. I believe that the point of traveling is to learn about new cultures and customs and genuinely open our minds.
People don’t take trip-ups … 27:” People don’t take journeys, trip-ups take people .”- John Steinbeck
Here’s another quote that isn’t exactly true. While not totally fake, it is a paraphrase of Steinbeck’s actual words in Travels With Charley: In Search Of America that reads :P TAGEND “A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike. And all plans, precautions, policies and coercion are fruitless. We find after years of struggle that we do not take a trip; a journey takes us .”

Short Travel Quotes
Life is either a daring escapade …
Travel is never a matter of money …
30: “Life is either a daring escapade or nothing.”- Helen Keller
Just like everyone else, I expend some of my days sitting on a couch watching television. Of course, these aren’t the moments that define me , nor are they what I think of when straying through my favorite memories. It’s the adventurous side of life that builds living truly worthwhile to me.
31:” Travel is never a matter of fund, but of courage.” — Paulo Coelho
Yes, traveling does require some money. However, you’ll also need to gather enough heroism to temporarily cast off everything about your daily life that attains it so comfy — and boring.
32:” Stop worrying about the potholes in the road and enjoy the trip-up .”- Babs Hoffman
I used to obsess over every single little thing that could go wrong during a trip. This caused me to overly plan everything. Little things can go wrong anywhere, so they’re not worth worrying about.
33:” He who are able travel blithely must travel light .”- Antoine de St. Exupery
This became one of my traveling mottoes after an unfortunate experience trying to schlep a massive backpack from the airport to a hotel via public transportation. I know exactly what ol’ Antoine was talking about in this travel quote!
34: “Every man can transform the world from one of monotony and drabness to one of excitement and adventure.”- Irving Wallace
If we’re being honest with ourselves, the routines of daily life are monotonous. For me, all it takes is a trip to a new city or country to reignite my sense of adventure.

Not all those who wander …
Strangers should be friends.
35:” Not all persons who stray are lost .”- J.R.R. Tolkien
Tolkien’s wisdom actually glistens through in this quote. I have applied it to several of my journeys by allowing myself to simply wander through a new land as opposed to plotting everything out first.
36: “The more I traveled the more I realized that fear induces strangers of people who should be friends.”- Shirley MacLaine
This quote is as relevant today as it was when it was first uttered. People have an unfortunate tendency to claim others as their adversary without even getting to know them first. This is an issue that’s propagated by dread of the unknown, and it has led to a lot of lost possibilities throughout history.
37:” I travel a lot; I hate having my life disrupted by routine .”- Caskie Stinnett
Staying in one place for too long definitely induces my wanderlust start itching for a new adventure. Routine has its place, but too much of it makes me feel stagnant. I love shaking up my daily life by visit a new place and immersing myself inside a different culture.
A mind that is stretched by experience …
Happiness is a way of travel …
38:” A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions .”- Oliver Wendell Holmes
Everything I’ve learned during my travels has forever expanded and changed my mind. This travel quote demonstrates Holmes clearly grew in a similar way by visiting new lands.
39: “Remember that happiness is a way of travel- not a destination.”- Roy M. Goodman
Many chase the elusive dream of happiness when they should be embracing it inside of each little moment, as Roy alludes to in this inspiring quote. I learned long ago that happiness is found in the details.
Road Trip Quotes Life begins at the end of your convenience zone … 40:” Life begins at the end of your consolation zone .”- Neale Donald Walsch
What is your comfort zone? If I’d never learned to stretch mine, I’d still be sitting on the same couch after work every single day for the rest of my life. Instead, I challenged myself to tackle new challenges and to see areas of the world that had intimidated me.
41: “Once in a while it really reaches people that they don’t have to experience the world in the way they have been told to.”- Alan Keightley
One of my favorite travel memories involves sitting on a sidewalk in Nicaragua eating some chicken& rice. I watched local people walk by for at least 30 minutes, going about their daily routines. This simple experience still defines Nicaragua for me in a way that visiting a famous tourist attraction never could.
42: “One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of watching things.”- Henry Miller
I frequently remind myself of this quote about traveling from Henry Miller. After all, simply checking off travel locations means nothing if you don’t allow each trip-up to change you in some manner. I love to soak up a new culture and learn more about the locals’ point of view.
I haven’t been everywhere but … 43: “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.”- Susan Sontag
Every place on the planet has great potential to help us learn and grow. That’s the primary reason that there’s nowhere in the world I wouldn’t run if I had safe passage. Right now, there are some cities and nations that aren’t very welcoming, but I’d still love to see them someday.
44: “Nobody can detect the world for somebody else. Only when we discover it for ourselves does it become common ground and a common bond and we cease to be alone.”- Wendell Berry
You cannot possibly hope to learn the true nature of the world by doing nothing more than reading about it. As valuable as read is, it always takes a backseat to discovering the world for yourself.

Take only memories … 45: “Take only memories, leave only footprints.”- Chief Seattle
This is one of the classic traveling quotes that everyone would be well-advised to remember. It transgresses my heart to see historic areas filled with trash by careless travelers. We have a responsibility to preserve things as much as possible.
46: “Two roads diverged in a wood and I- I took the one less traveled by.”- Robert Frost
The start of each new trip is an exciting time that’s characterized by a mixture of wonder and dread. You have no idea if the trip-up will go as schemed, but the unknown is what builds everything so exciting.
Oh the places you’ll run! 48:” Oh the places you’ll run .”- Dr. Seuss
Dr. Seuss serves as a reminder that we can go anywhere if we stop putting restrictions on ourselves. The world is waiting; we are only have to have the courage to answer the call. Doing this, again and again, has given my life meaning.
49:” It is not down in any map; true places never are .”- Herman Melville
Much like the concealed parts of our spirits, we cannot hope to find something completely original and unspoiled without stray from the map. I dedicate myself the freedom to explore anything that catches my attention.
Invest in yourself through travel … 50: “Investment in travelling is an investment in yourself.”- Matthew Karsten
Yup. I’m Matthew Karsten, and I wholly only snuck in one of my own travel quotes. Haha! But I genuinely mean this too. When I first quit my unfulfilling day chore to go backpacking around the world, I didn’t know what I was doing, or where it would all take me. But traveling teach me a lot about life, as well as myself.
51: “For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”- Robert Louis Stevenson
Stevenson was much more than merely a adored novelist; he was also a travel writer. This particular inspiring quote has always spoken to me. The exhort to go somewhere new , no matter where it is, often grabs me.
52: “Our happiest moments as tourists always seem to come when we stumble upon one thing while in pursuit of something else.” — Lawrence Block
There is nothing more exciting than turning a corner while traveling and procuring something riveting. I remember this happening when I stumbled onto a work of art by street artist Banksy. I don’t even remember my original destination, but I do remember the style I felt looking at Banksy’s art!
54: “Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life.”- Jack Kerouac
Is there anyone more uniquely qualified to provide insightful quotes about traveling than the author of” On the Road ?” Traveling doesn’t always go as smoothly as you’d expect. Despite this, I’ve discovered many times that the trip-up itself is every bit as arousing as the destination.
55: “Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comforts of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things — air, sleep, dreams, the high seas, the sky. All things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.”- Cesare Pavese
Pavese’s volumes often spoke about loneliness and the inability to connect to others in a meaningful way. Although his commentary on traveling does contain some truth, I’ve always taken it with a grain of salt. Yes, traveling is also available brutal at times, but I believe it’s also one of the most freeing experiences person or persons can have.
56: “Listen to the mustn’ts, child. Listen to the don’ts. Listen to the shouldn’ts, the impossibles, the won’ts. Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me … Anything can happen, child. Anything can be.”- Shel Silverstein 57: “And then there is the most dangerous risk of all — the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later.”- Randy Komisar
Controversial author Simon Raven said a lot of odd things in his time, but his travelling quotes were typically spot on. After all, the only way to see the entire world is to start taking travel-sized bites out it as early as possible.
59: “The journey not the arrival matters.”- T.S. Eliot
Eliot’s poetry inspired countless novelists, but I’ve always been the most taken by this simplistic quote. When I first started traveling, I placed way too much focus on getting to my destination. By learning to let that run, I’ve developed some of my fondest travelling memories.
Unique Travel Quotes
Almost nothing is so familiar …
To travel is to live.
60: “To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travelling is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.”- Bill Bryson

61: “To travel is to live.”- Hans Christian Andersen
I grew up reading Anderson’s fairy tales but didn’t know about his traveling writing until later. Now, I know that his many quotes about traveling truly captured the essence of why it’s so important to explore new areas.
62: “What you’ve done becomes the judge of what you’re going to do — especially in other people’s minds. When you’re traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don’t have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road.”- William Least Heat Moon
Heat-Moon was so dedicated to writing unique travel books that he journeyed across the U.S. in a 1975 Econoline van. I also love the idea of getting a fresh start in each new town.
63: “Travel makes a wise man better but a fool worse.”- Thomas Fuller
Fuller broke new ground with his literary skills, which allowed him to earn a living long before being an author was a viable full-time career for novelists. Some say that everyone is changed for the better by traveling, but Fuller warned us that this wasn’t the case.
There ain’t no surer way … 64: “I have found out that there ain’t no surer way to find out whether you like people or hate them than to travel with them.”- Mark Twain
American gem Mark Twain wasn’t one to mince words, but his humor built even the bitterest truths easier to swallow. Unfortunately, I found out the wisdom behind his words the hard way through experience.
65: “The most beautiful in the world is, of course, the world itself.”- Wallace Stevens
Stevens had a love for the simple things in life, as evidenced by one of his titles:” The Emperor of Ice-Cream .” He’s also right; the entire world contains beauty. That’s why I long to travel to every country on earth.
There is no end to the escapades … 66: “We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm, and adventure. There is no end to the escapades we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.”- Jawaharial Nehru
It’s unsurprising that someone who learned immediately from Gandhi would have such an inspiring way of looking at the world. Open your eyes to the beauty of a sunrise or waves rolling into the shore. No matter how many times you’ve seen them, they’re still full of beauty.
67: “I’m in love with cities I’ve never been to and people I’ve never met.”- Melody Truong
Melody Truong’s words resonate with me because they’re so full of truth. The feeling of loving unexplored parts of the world is exactly what pushings me to keep traveling.
Take half the clothes and twice the money.
Travel to meet yourself …
68: “When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money.”- Susan Heller

71: “I travel because it stimulates me realize how much I haven’t insured, how much I’m not going to see, and how much I still need to see.”- Carew Papritz
Being born in Yosemite National Park enabled the travel bug to bite Papritz at birth. His thought-provoking spin on the purpose of travel has greatly influenced me. I may never see it all, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t try.
Wherever you go becomes a part of you … 72: “Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow.”- Anita Desai

74: “Happiness is letting go of what you think your life is supposed to look like and celebrate it for everything that it is.”- Mandy Hale
Author Mandy Hale embodies her standpoint as the” single girl with a tale to tell .” I try to remind myself of this quote whenever life seems to be spinning out of control.
