Aging thoughts
I'm rewatching the 1975 Count of Monte Cristo and Dantes’ has just escaped the island, stating he's 33yrs. I'm not sure if I should be happy that I've done more in my life than he has or annoyed that my greatest accomplishments don't come anywhere near a jailbreak.

Here's a damn fine solid amount of all the different kinds of media that I like to personally think and believe both can fit perfectly well in and could actually share the same universe as Chris Sanders & Dean DeBois' How To Train Your Dragon Series (1 - 3 & the TV Series), which you can both read and see below for yourself right about here:
youtube
• Tomm Moore & Ross Stewart's Wolfwalkers
• Gore Verbinski's Pirates Of The Caribbean Trilogy
• Jon Turteltaub's National Treasure Duology
• Stephen Sommers' The Mummy (1999)
• M.J. Bassett's Solomon Kane (2009)
• Julius Avery's Overlord (2018)
• Zack Snyder, Jay Oliva & Eric Carrasco's Twilight Of The Gods (Netflix Series)
• Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes Duology
• Frank Darabont's The Shawshank Redemption (1994) & The Green Mile (1999)
• Steven Spielberg's Indiana Jones Series (1 - 4) & The Mission (Amazing Stories)
• David Fincher's Bad Travelling (Love, Death & Robots)
• Sam Mendes' Road To Perdition (2002)
• Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke
• Edward Berger's All Quiet On The Western Front
 Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge
• Nils Gaup's Pathfinder (1987)
• Roland Joffe's The Mission (1986)
• John Carpenter's Big Trouble In Little China
• John Milius' The Wind and the Lion (1975)
• Martin Campbell's GoldenEye (1995)
• Phillip Dear's All Through The House (Love, Death & Robots)
• Kevin Reynolds' The Count Of Monte Cristo (2002)
• Neil Marshall's Centurion
• John McTiernan's The 13th Warrior (1999)
&
• Jonathan E. Steinberg & Robert Levine's Black Sails (TV Series)

bertuccio later becomes the counts butler or steward.
Have you heard of any of these adaptations?
https://www.reddit.com/r/TheCountofMonteCristo/comments/w7iu1v/every_tcomc_adaptation_i_could_find.
I had no idea there were so many adatptations!
I've heard of and watched the 1975 film with Richard Chamberlain, and it's one of my favorite adaptions!
I have the 2002 DVD and I've watched it maybe twice, but I honestly love and hate it at the same time.
Gankutsuou is another DVD set I have as well since I'm a lover of anime as well. I absolutely adore the artwork and the futuristic setting while they keep it rather close to the book. I'm actually not quite done with it, but when I finish it, I'll write something about it.
Fun fact, I actually started watching the K-drama, Miss Monte Cristo and it's intriguing, so I just might pick it up again sometime soon.
The Russian musical Monte Cristo is also one that's caught my eye, but since I don't speak Russian fluently yet, It's difficult to find. I've seen some clips of it though, and I honestly like the costume and staging.
Frank Wildhorn's Count Of Monte Cristo is actually a favorite of mine, and was essentially what drew me to learn about the book after I had my musical playlist on shuffle and it auto played I Know Those Eyes.
Okay, I've heard of I Am Edmond Dantes via Russian musical theaters that I follow and was able to translate the title, but I do not know much of it.
Ah! Radio dramas my beloved, I've listened to both Mercury Radio and Lux radios productions and loved them!
I've seen Garfield and Friends' episode as well lol.
I actually remember Edmond being in Once Upon A Time, but I really should rewatch it because that was years ago before I read the book.
I actually didn't realize I consumed so much media from it 😂
There's also another musical that I stumbled across but I've got no idea where it's from or who wrote it.
But it's this one:

watching mutiple film versions of the count of monte cristo. judging them on their own merits (and entertainment value) not as adaptations
1934: very boring, plot took 50 minutes to start. silliest ending
1975: very funny and colorful, both visually and in acting. excellent ending
1999: fun. close to 8 hours long, don't binge all episodes like i did lol. best bertuccio, this bitch is incredibly gay. disappointing ending
2002: (...)

this completely illegible chart has been super helpful for keeping track of what media I've gotten into this year (a thing which my brain finds easy to forget). legible version under the cut
I met all the arbitrary goals I'd hit for myself, though I was surprised to see just how much 'tv' I technically watched (I would have hit that goal even if I didn't count D20 shows). for 2023 I might just change this to a regular spreadsheet and remove the number 'goals' altogether.
Video games: Donut County, Outer Wilds (replay), Kentucky Route Zero, The First Three, Superhot, Speed Dating for Ghosts, The Secret of Monkey Island (replay), Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge (replay), Cadence of Hyrule (replay), Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, Stray, Wingspan, Subnautica, Everything, Monster Prom, Return to Monkey Island, Old Man's Journey, Alba, Disco Elysium, Moonlighter, Mutazione
