mine is this tshirt from i believe the OG calm release merch that i got a couple weeks into covid lockdown and became my uniform for a solid month. it has only gotten softer with time, has a neckline that doesn’t make me feel insane, is PERFECTLY oversized (the only medium tshirt that doesn’t Cling at the waist), and also gives the vibe of a shirt that my future nieces will steal and claim as ~vintage~ from my closet and will make me feel both Very Cool and Very Old in approx 20 years

i found jay’s black jacket (an ID guide)

This black jacket is worn by Jay about 9 times throughout Marble Hornets, including his final appearance. And after some weeks of on-and-off research, I think I know the exact make and model.

This post will detail exactly how I found it, and serve as a guide for anyone that wants to find the jacket, whether that's for cosplay purposes, or if you're just keen on collecting items related to MH.

Intro

The first step to identifying the jacket was to gather as many references as possible.

I went back to the web series and took screenshots from any entries the jacket makes an appearance. (shoutout to mg549′s very comprehensive MH wardrobe guide, without it this would’ve been much more of a pain)

Jay's jacket is, for the most part, very plain. It's a solid color, full-zip jacket, without any particularly eye-catching logos or other details. I had to look for moments where even the slightest distinction appeared clear on camera, at least as distinct as it can be. Even if it was just close-ups to get the shape of a zipper, or how many buttons are on a sleeve, it was the best I got. While I did manage to find a decent amount of these, there was just one crucial detail that would've made finding it near-impossible; the brand is never shown. Thankfully, I had another resource.

In 2018 Troy Sold a Lot of Stuff

In early 2018, Troy officially announced that MH would be continued in a comic series. To fund the first issue, he held a number of auctions for production items used during the web series on Ebay.

These included items such as Jay’s camera, Brian’s hoodie, A Masky mask, and Jay’s black jacket.

Lo and behold, the jacket listing includes a picture with the brand in clear view. It's from Gap.

Ebay does not archive sold listings older than 90 days. However, Worthpoint, a website for valuing and pricing collectibles, does. Using Worthpoint I was able to find all of these items, (and a lot more, which can be found in this doc I submitted to Archive Hornets)

Identification

With the picture from the listing and the series screencaps, I had a complete ID list.

The Gap logo (This specific logo dates the jacket being made anywhere between 1986 and 2009, when it first appears).

With these in mind, I could now go to the next and longest step-

Finding the Jacket

I combed three resell sites; Ebay, Depop, and Poshmark. My main goal wasn't to actually purchase the jacket, (although, I would like to at some point) but to find a jacket listing that had every identifier, and have a more definite baseline for finding others. I needed to be sure what I had was enough to properly ID the jacket. The references I had stitched together were decent enough, but I wanted to see if there was something better out there.

After tons of page scrolling and tab-switching and comparing and contrasting, I finally got lucky.

I haven't bought one myself as of posting, but I feel pretty confident this is it. The jackets were already sold, but every marker seemed to be accounted for. It also revealed new ones, like the reflective pattern and pockets on the inner lining, (zipper on the right side pocket, button on the left pocket) and the materials tag.

With that, here's some final notes that may be helpful if you try looking for the jacket yourself:

Online sellers often describe it as a light jacket, a windbreaker, a 2-in-1, or 3-in-1.

"Gap Mens Black Jacket" is the search phrase I used the most since it yielded a (very) broad result pool.

Most of the jackets I found came from Poshmark or Ebay.

The exact size of Jay’s jacket is unclear. My best guesses are either a US Men’s S or M, since Jay was pretty skinny and of average height. I’ve only been able to find maybe 2 jackets that are a size M, one of which is the first pic in the photoset above.

Gap has sold other black jackets that look remarkably similar to Jay’s, and they do pop up on resell sites. One of these was so similar, the only discernible difference was the style of the logo. I highly recommend making sure it matches the exact one Jay had before purchasing. (It's also more than fine to ask/msg me if you have any doubts!) As long as you know what to look for, you shouldn’t have a problem finding at least one.

One detail that confounded me was this sleeve poking out of Jay's jacket. At first I thought he was wearing a long sleeve underneath, making this shot a continuity error since he appeared to Only be wearing the green short sleeve under the jacket.

@hivemite pointed out that this might be a two-in-one jacket, which has multiple layers for different types of weather. While I have not been able to see the sleeve outside of two shots in entry #79 and #80, one listing I found did describe it as a 3-in-1.

Do you have tips for being able to find affordable clothes without plastic in them? I've found it's hard to find without rayon, specifically.

Rayon is not, in fact, plastic! It's made from processed cellulose- that is, plant fibers -and while the traditional process isn't great environmentally or for the health of the workers...neither are a lot of other Plant Fabric Production Methods. And there are new, better processes being implemented, just like in other avenues of fabric production. I still don't love it, because there's just something great about real silk, but it IS a more affordable/available, technically natural option.

My biggest tip is thrifting. This is becoming less and less the case as the dominance of plastic clothing gets further and further in the past, and things get donated that are from AE (After Enshittification), but you can still find some great things in thrift stores. I've found 100% silk blouses a few times, a LOT of cotton, and even some linen. I know other people who've found wool, but unfortunately I am not one of them. When thrifting online, on Mercari or Depop or eBay or Facebook Marketplace, you can even do keyword searches for "100% [fiber]" or look for photos of the fiber content tag- if you're physically thrifting, that's usually in one of the lower side seams.

People who cut out fiber content tags and then donate clothing to thrift stores without them are on my personal "egg their car" list if I ever find them. If you have sensory issues but also like donating your clothes, for the love of god, keep the tag and safety-pin it to the garment before you donate or something. But I digress

Cotton is your new best friend, by the way. It's the natural fiber you see used the most nowadays, so you will often be able to find SOMETHING cotton even in big box stores.

Also, while this can be more of a Spend More Up-Front To Spend Less In The Long Run, learning to sew can help you have natural-fiber clothing that holds up to mending more than what's mass-manufactured these days. The startup costs are more, but if you can afford them, you'll be better-placed to buy fewer clothes in the future. If you don't have/can't afford a sewing machine, consider looking for an object library near you- they let you "check out" different items an use them for a certain length of time, like the name suggests, and many have sewing machines.

My collection of tips for people who are just now developing a chronic illness or just now realizing they have one. ((As someone who has only been struggling with mine for a little over a year))

-dont blame yourself for not being able to do what you used to. Your body used to do its job to a better degree than it does now. You are not lazy bc your taking more breaks or bc you cant get out of bed. Your taking care of yourself. I struggle with this all the time. Especially considering my living situation. Shit doesnt get done when I dont do it but I simply cant sometimes.

-that leads me into my next point. Take advantage of your good days, but dont overwork yourself just bc your "not feeling chronically ill." When you have the energy, start the laundry, do the dishes, take out the trash, but still take breaks as needed

-keep a set of your meds literally everywhere. I have a pill box I specifically keep in my car with a weeks worth of my morning meds. I have a three sets of my most important meds in my bag at all times. I have pain meds stashed in every crevasse they could be stashed. Trust me, when your running late and you get half way to work before you realize you havent taken your meds your gonna want to be able to reach into your glove box and take them rq

-buy the mobility aid. You think you need a brace bc a specific joint hurts like hell and wont stay in place?? Get it. You cant walk for long periods of time and think a cane would help?? Get it. You think a shower chair would do you good so you dont pass out with shampoo in your eyes and naked?? Get it. Just get it. Walmart sells canes for under ten bucks and they work really well. They also have extra tips in a two back for 2.50. Dollar tree has braces and like 12 different pain creams. Five below also has some braces and quite a few pain relief options. You can also get them cheap on sites like shein or Amazon and sometimes depop. ((I know I know, dont support those sites but a bitch is broke and two bucks for compression socks is a fucking steal)) You can also sometimes find wheelchairs and canes and crutches at goodwill. It isnt a guarantee but its a good option if you need smt cheap. ((Be careful and check that their not broken before you buy))

-take the pain meds. Put on the pain cream. Ice that joint. You dont get brownie points for toughing it out and it will help your health in the long run. If someone looks at you like your weak for taking smt to help with your pain, their the problem, not you.

-create a good support system. Find the people who will drop their brand new iced coffee to stop you from slamming your head into the ground during a fainting spell. They are out there. Find them and hold onto them for dear fucking life

-try to make the best of what you can do every day. Put on cute earrings. Buy cute compression socks. Get braces that fit your vibe. Put stickers on your mobility aids. Put pins on your bag. Carry a cute weighted stuffie for when you need some extra comfort. Make the most of what you are capable of doing.

My Guide to Patch/Crust DIY Pants That No One Asked For:

(If you see this guide go through changes, you’re not crazy, I update it all the time)

I’ve noticed that my DIY pants had been noticed on here, so I’d thought I make a guide for new punks getting into the scene 💖

I’ve been in the punk scene for a little over two years now, so don’t take everything I say to heart, I’ve got lots to learn.

Typically, you want to start out with a good base. For instance, the pants you choose can make or break your project. I don’t suggest buying super expensive pants, but don’t buy them super low quality either. You want something that lasts, as crust or patch pants are meant to be your only pair.

EDIT: Before I start any new project, I look around my stuff to see if I can repurpose anything. Old T shirts, bed sheets, bags, you name it. It’s so much easier to repurpose your stuff before buying new things, and you save money doing it. Before you buy pants, see if you can find a pair you already own! I had to buy new ones because I only had one other pair of jeans that I wear to work.

I’ve seen some tutorials floating around for DIY can spikes. Please be very careful doing this. If you’re moshing in a vest made with cut up aluminum, you can seriously hurt someone if you’re not careful. Be on the safe side and either borrow/buy pre made studs and spikes or save the DIY can spikes for non-moshing vests/pants/cuffs.

If you’re moshing with any studs or spikes at ALL, they should be blunt!!!

Good places to buy pants

Thrift (it’s a bit of a crapshoot if you have a hard time finding sizes, but if they’ve lasted long enough to end up in a thrift store, then it means they’re more likely good quality. Check the tags!!)

ASOS (I recommend if you have a hard time finding your size. I can’t guarantee the sustainability of this site though.)

Mercari (Like an online goodwill. I find a lot of awesome clothes on here. You can download the app.)

How the Pants Should Fit

The fit of your pants can also affect how they lay on you. I suggest buying pants slightly larger on you, if you’re covering them in patches. When you start sewing, you’re going to find that they’re going to shrink a little bit. So please avoid tight fitting jeans if you can! Straight or relaxed fit are the best.

EDIT: If skinny/fitting pants are all you got, sometimes making relief cuts at the knees help when you try to bend down.

Patches

Patches are going to be what makes your pants unique! There’s quite a few you can choose from: plain patches, band patches, politics patches, etcetera. If you’re going to cover the entirety of your pants, I suggest going to Joann’s or Michaels (fuck Hobby Lobby) for fabric. Buy a yard or two canvas or pleather (or both). Otherwise, I usually cut up old T-shirts for my fabric.

Paint (Buy white/black stencil fabric paint. I don’t suggest acrylic, since it’s not made to move with fabric)

If you’re going to make crust pants, it’s imperative that you have crust bands on your patches, that’s what makes them crust! (Apart from never washing them)

Edit: I would do your own research on the crust punk subculture, there’s a lot of discourse out there on what makes punks crust punks and so on.

Washing your pants is not a black and white rule, but you can ruin the integrity of your work if you carelessly throw them in the washer. Like if you were to throw a suede jacket into the washer, there’s certain steps to take!

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES FOR WHEN I FEEL STUCK OR BORED. most people, myself included, are prone to writer's block, and while this can be an extremely frustrating process to get to, i try to use this as an opportunity to approach it in a fun way. i thought i'd share some of my favourite activities that might be of use to other people.

create a movie library. if your muse is someone who likes movies, make a list of their favourites on letterboxd or imdb, or even serializd for those that prefer tv. you can make lists for ones they've seen and enjoyed or haven't seen but would like. i use letterboxd for this quite a bit and sometimes even add some notes within my lists detailing my muse's thoughts and reviews of the movies.

make a sideblog. i know that many people do this already, but aesthetic sideblog for your character can be extremely helpful and fun to maintain. you can build these however you like! i like to use mine to post photos that my muse would like, faceclaim content, playlists and songs, ships/dynamics inspo, headcanons, silly text posts, and a variety of other things. if you're unsure where to look for content you can post on your sideblogs, @museinspo has a variety of things for many types of characters and is a really helpful place to start. they have a great detailed tagging system to make it easier to find content best suited to your muse. some tags that you can also look through could be #character inspo, #ship inspo, and #muse inspo.

play a barbie dress up game. most people who know me can attest to how much i love this — building a closet for my characters' style. every muse is different, so this can be a fun exploration activity. pinterest is a frequently used resource, but what i like to do most often is browse resale websites like depop or poshmark because i like the variety of styles and the fact that you can find some things you might not see in every store! i have many muses who like to wear silly graphic t-shirts, handmade, vintage, and eclectic styles, so this tends to be the best place to search. you can also do this with any website that sells styles you like for your muse. i like to think of this as a dress up barbie game since that helps me maintain the fun aspect of it all.

build and decorate a barbie dreamhouse. on the topic of barbies, you can do the same activity with furniture, homewares, trinkets, toys, art and decor. build your muse their barbie dreamhouse, fill it with things they would collect and feel at home with. browse furniture websites. ikea, crate and barrel, pottery barn, anthropologie, and west elm are all great places to look for ideas. if you really want to get into it, architectural design (i particularly like this article listing recommendations for furniture retailers) and dezeen (has the added bonus of being able to search for things based on location, if you're looking for example of interior design specific to your muse's city of residence) have extensive articles on both exterior and interior design. etsy is also a great place to look for antiques, vintage style, and more eclectic items.

feed them. if your muse is a foodie or likes to cook, come up with a menu for them. read food blogs and restaurant menus, think of what they'd like if they went out for dinner or what they'd cook at home. i will sometimes make up an imaginary dinner party for muses when its applicable and plan out what they'd like to serve or be served in that situation. food can be a great way to get to know your muse because it can tell you so much about their personal tastes, their current lifestyle, and their cultural background. while food is something that is prevalent in everyone's life, different people will have different approaches to it. this can be especially fun if you look at the menus for restaurants and shops local to your muse's area! read about what's popular in their neighborhood, take the specifics of that culture into consideration.

consider history. think about the time and place in which your character was born and raised in. how would things like pop culture, trends, media, neighborhood, and society affect them? this will differ with every character's upbringing and background, so take all that into consideration as you explore resources. for example, say that your muse is inspired by something like punk subcultures in the 1990s. what music, movies, and clothing styles would have been prevalent at the time? try looking into the history of the underground scene, you can even look further back than that particular decade to understand its roots and how the subculture go to that present moment. how would current events of the time affect what's being put out there and how would the changes within the world cause your character to evolve in their mindset or interests?

study movement. often times we study physicality in terms of what the character looks like as a static image (their hair colour, face shape, clothing, etc) and less about what it looks like when they look like when they are in movement. consider things like their gait, posture, facial expressions, or even specific tics. how do they move when they're on the go and in a rush, compared to when they're confined to a room? how do they position themselves in a bed or on a couch? what does their face tell you about them when they speak? what does it not tell you? a lot of behavior and emotion is not limited to dialogue, but rather how a person composes themselves through body language. you can learn so much about someone by being observant of them even without dialogue. it can be helpful to watch videos or movies and study an actor's movements with all this in mind. i often find myself watching videos with the sound off, just to pay closer attention to body language and try to understand what they are saying without verbal communication.

☆🎀 How to dress emo/scene in cold weather! 🎀☆

☆ Hoodies:

On Depop, you can find a lot of really cool character hoodies, or even Cupcake Cult hoodies if you're really lucky, which are not only cute but also help to keep you warm. Thrift stores also pretty much always have some pretty good hoodies that are a little more basic but still fit the style.

☆ Arm warmers and gloves:

Arm warmers are just the best thing for if you want to wear short sleeves but don't want to wear a coat or jacket. What's even better is that Halloween stores usually sell them, and you can always get them really cheap when Halloween ends. Gloves are obviously something that's also very helpful. I have a pair of fingerless skeleton gloves that I always wear on cold days, which I think are something that's also easy to find at Halloween or thrift stores in October.

☆ Over-the-knee socks:

I pretty much always wear over-the-knee socks even when it's hot out just because I just love how they look, but they are perfect for cold weather. I don't like wearing tights but over-the-knees give almost the same effect and they make it so much easier for me to wear skirts since I don't have a lot of pants. I always wear plain black ones, but striped ones in any colour also suit the style really well, and even cat or skeleton socks if you can find them.

☆ Leg warmers:

Leg warmers are some of my favourite accessories because they not only look good, but they also do a good job at keeping your legs warm. They're a great example of functional fashion. I have a pair of black and grey striped flared ones that I really like wearing when I wear skirts. And if you have those fluffy ones that scene queens always wear, you can put them over skinny jeans and they look really cool.

☆ Thermal tights:

When it's cold out, you can't really wear fishnets because they don't cover up your legs very much, but you can get a pair of skin-coloured thermal tights and wear them under your fishnets. If you have thermal tights, you can basically wear fishnets year-round. You can also put them under pants if you want extra warmth that way. A lot of affordable stores often have thermal tights, so this is something that I think most people can get.

First of all, I want to give you a warm welcome into mori kei, and I hope you find comfort in both the community and in this wonderful fashion!! (ㅅ´ ˘ `)

To answer your question: I am pretty much a stickler for thrifting all the clothes that I own, from both online thrifting platforms or physical stores. What I use most often is an app called Vinted (I live in the EU, so it's readily available to me), and most of my wardrobe comes from there.

Now, to buy my Japanese brand clothes/accessories, I use MercaryJP, with a third party buyer. You can use any that you would like, but I personally used ZenMarket because it was the easiest to use, and cheapest to ship to where I live (ᵕ—ᴗ—)

You can always try to look through your preferred online thrift store (if you are based in America, I have heard that Depop has some pretty nice stuff may be a bit overpriced as well i'm sorry my American mori folk) and search up one of these brand names, see what comes up!! Or you can also experience the joy (or sometimes horror) of going through an irl thrift store. You'll be surprised at the amazing things people have given away sometimes. (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

As you got home you started your camera up and filmed a video explaining how you will not be working for Smosh as you edited it you had the realization you should it ‘I booked’ you kept it ready for when you are able to post.

You settled on your couch reading your paperwork from Smosh today. Your first video will be for Smosh Games channel. You will be playing ‘Sounds Fishy’ For Board AF with Shayne, Angela, Chanse, and Courtney. So excited to meet everyone you rest up.  

Same Day: 

Shayne walks up to Selina being the best wing man.

“So who was that you had a conference wither earlier? Was it a new cast member or some type of deal?’ Shayne asked 

“Actually she out new cast member she really funny and cool her name is Y/N. She’s staring next Wednesday” Selina said. 

“Awesome can wait for us to all meet her” Shayne says. He quickly runs off to find Spencer. “Spencer! SPENCER!” Shayne calls out as he approaches Spencers desk” 

“What do you need?” Spencer says in a sarcastic annoyed tone.

“That ‘angel’ you saw earlier is our new cast member… and she starts next Wednesday. I’m gonna be the best wingman” Shayne says excitedly while moving his eyebrows. 

“Oh awesome I won’t be able to talk to her on Wednesday ill be hiding in the games set for now” Spencer says.

Fast forward to next Wednesday: 

 You were so excited to meet everyone and film today, you got ready with a cup of coffee getting your clothes together doing your hair and makeup and packing a lunch. You weren’t sure if you had time to go anywhere or anything like that. As you drove to the office you listened to your playlist to keep you calm for your exciting day. 

You went to the front door scanning your new badge you received in the mail. But as you entered you almost walked into Chanse. 

“Oh Hey girl you must be Y/N I’m Chanse! I can’t wait to film with you later today!” Chanse says

“Ill show you to your new desk” Chanse says. As you guys walk to your new desk you stop and meet the crew you didn’t yet and some cast members.

“Hey its almost our call time for Board AF, are you ready Y/N?” Questioned Shayne.

As you all walked on to the game set you were introduced to everyone behind the scenes. “Hey just wanted to ask if anyone could possibly just give me a run down on how the game goes?” You asked 

“Oh yeah definitely! Spencer can you show Y/N really quick how the game goes and the rules” Alex says.

You see Spencer turning around from the back of the room almost like he was hiding.

“Uh-um yeah I can do that” Spencer says anxiously.

You go a sit at the table while Spencer walks over to you and leans down. As he leaned down you got a whiff of his cologne ‘damn he smells good you say to yourself’. Then Spencer starts to show you how the games works and goes over the rules. 

“ Does that make sense?” Spencer questioned as he looked at you.

You turned your head and stared into his eye thinking over everything. But then he looked away fast and pretended to look around the room. ‘Hmm that was weird does he not like me or something idk its probably nothing and just my nerves’ you said to yourself. “Uh yeah I think so thank you” he then hurries away and leaves the room. Shayne then follows him and you look at Courtney “okay then” you say out loud. 

“Im not sure what that was about maybe he remembered something” Courtney says. 

Out of the stage with Spencer and Shayne:

Shayne runs up to Spencer “bro what’s that” shayne says.

Spencer turns around and says “I just couldn’t look her in the eyes like that my heart was pounding out of my chest dude, she’s even prettier in person and smells so good… have you smelled her shayne hahaha?’

“Um no I’m not a weirdo Spence…but you’re gonna have to man up and control this she works here now man” shayne says 

“Yeah you’re right” Spencer says then taking deeps breaths to call his heart rate down.

“Okay lets go back I can do this” Spencer says.

You see Spencer and shayne walk back to the stage “y’all ready for this” Spencer says excitingly as he’s coming back in.

Through out filming you noticed Spencer staring at you a bit. It made you a little nervous but stopped paying attention to it so you could focus on doing the best you can for your first impression. 

“Wow guys that was awesome thank you and if you’re done for the day have a good day!” Spencer says out to everyone.

You then left the stage room and went back to your desk just chilling.

Meanwhile in the stage room Shayne goes up to Spencer “dude she’s amazing.. she hilarious and it was juts a games video” Spencer says to Shayne

“I will say you might’ve made her nervous tho Spence, that whole time you were starring at her” shayne says 

“Psshhhh no I wasn’t” Spencer says 

Alex chimes in “yeah you were”

“Fuck she probably thinks Im a creep” says Spencer 

Back to you:

Selina went up to you “how was your first filming day?” Selina says 

“Awesome thank you for asking, I’m so glad it was a board game and not an actual video game I’m not the best at those and don’t know much.” You say 

“Well maybe we can change that!” Selina says.

The next day

Spencers POV:

He was sitting at the table with shayne an Courtney as you walk in and head to your desk.

“Dude you gotta talk to her and get to know her at least” Shayne says 

“Oh maybe we can all go to dinner tomorrow night to celebrate her joining and then you can make your move then!” Courtney exclaims 

“Oh gosh guys its too early I cant even control my nerves around her yet” Spencer says 

“Well I don’t care I’m still doing it I think it would be good for all of us to get to know her” Courtney says as they are making a group text on their phone. Courtney gets up to walk over to you. 

“Hey what your number I’m starting a group text so we can go out to celebrate you joining us” Courtney says to you. 

“Oh wow so sweet uh yeah here’s my number” you say to them. 

“Thanks!” Courtney says. 

Courtney starts walking back to the boys.. “welp I got her number for you now too” Courtney exclaims to Spencer. 

“Oh thanks so ill just express my affection to her and shell think its you” Spencer says 

“Okay well don’t do that I’m not trying to steal your woman cause you know she’d go for me” Courtney said laughing 

They all laugh in union… 

Spencer gets up and walks up to Selina. 

“ Hey so I have a gap for filming so we can add one if you have any ideas” Spencer says to Selina 

“Oh perfect I have an idea! You can teach Y/N how to play a video game!” Selina hurries and runs over to you before Spencer could protest. 

He hurries and goes up to Amanda and Angela “yo I need your guys help later I have to show Y/n how to play a game please be there with me so I’m not alone with her” Spencer says. 

“Oh right I was told you like her and now you’re scares to be with her hahah okay yeah I can” Amanda says

Cut to later in the day. You: 

You head to the games stage in the corner you see Amanda, Angela, and Spencer at the single little computer in the corner out of the way.

Spencer was wearing a baseball hat on backwards ‘ kind of hot with that hat backwards’ you said to yourself 

“Hey guys are you ready to film this hahaha” you said 

They said ‘hey’ back in union. You sat down as Spencer was finishing things up on the production side for this.

(For this think of the new video of Spencer showing Angela and and Amanda Resident Evil but with you added to the video and the backwards hat cause so hot when he wears one like that) 

Spencer finished up setting everything he needed to and started to record

As he sat down he looked over to the three of you and said “Guys my dream has come true I’m getting paid to show girls a video game” yo start laughing with the other girls.

Thought out the video you guys kept making jokes and laughing and you couldn’t help but silently agree with the jokes of Spencer being hot… did you really start to have a crush on him.

Where Have I Been?

hello lovelies. so, I started the challenege, did one day, and all of a sudden I feel off the face of the earth. I fell into a bit of a depression, and while I've managed to pull myself out, life has been busy busy busy! This is probably the 2nd busiest week of the year (the 1st will be in August, and you'll find out why). Here's an update on life:

I fly to Colorado on the 16th, so....under 5 days now. I haven't packed or anything yet, but I plan on doing that either tomorrow or Thursday. And I have to clean and prepack for when I return because....

I signed a new lease for a new place to live! I'll have roommates who I haven't met yet (I'm taking over someone lease, actually), but my lease starts August 18th. I return from Colorado on the 14th of August, so....I'm going to be very busy once I return.

I decided to call it quits on getting a 2nd job. It's going to mess up the schedule with my first job, and it would only make me 200$ more a month, which I'm not worried about missing our on since I'll still sell stuff on depop once I return from Colorado and I'm going full time at my current job.

I've gone out to lunch with my dad a few times as well, it's been really nice hanging out with him and spending time with my dad. I lucked out in the dad department and spending time with him is one of my favorite things!

I've been debating going to San Fransisco in October for an XG concert, but I don't know if I'll have the money or ability to anymore. (thank you new apartment and all those fees and expenses!)

my anxiety has been terrible. I haven't changed anything about what I do, but I did squish a lot of anxiety inducing things into the span of two weeks, which....my bad on that. Now I know, don't do that to myself.

I bought new makeup! The juvias place bronzer, charlotte tillbury setting spray, nyx eyebrow stuff, and blush, ughhh I love buying new makeup, I just wish it didn't cost money!

I've gotten better at doing my makeup! I've had people not even notice I'm wearing it because it looks natural despite being like, a full face! Thank you perfect color matches on my skin tint, foundation, and concealors!

I went to two movies with a friend. We saw the new Strangers: Chapter One and the Planet of the Apes movie. Both were definitely good, in my opinion.

I now have to plan with my boyfriend for when he needs to come down here and get his stuff and work out changing the utilities to our roommates name since I'm leaving. I don't feel like it should be my job to coordinate that, but oh well. I guess it's too hard for him and his best friend (my roommate) to call each other for once?? Ugh, men get on my nerves sometimes.

I need to ask my dad and a friend to help me move upon my return, which also means I won't be able to work that weekend, which kind of sucks.

I need to declutter my room and start throwing away things I don't want or need anymore this week to make it easier on myself when I return from Colorado but hahaha I procrastinate a lot.

I'm stressed about paying rent. I'll have to pay rent for here and rent/fees for the new place before august and then September's rent for the new place, and my new rent is about double what I pay now. so yayy, adulting and finances. I don't feel qualified to be an adult, but here I am, age 21, an adult.

That's about it for now! Lots of stress, lots of anxiety, lots of stuff happening super close together. But that's life, I guess. Forgive me for my absence from my blogs. I also stopped studying spanish for now, and my routines are non-existent. Colorado will change that, tho, for sure. I do plan on updating a little more frequently once things settle down when I'm in Colorado. but for now, it'll be kinda here and there with my posting.

scene heavily overlaps with emo and rave culture. so a lot of “scene” music is defined by emo bands (i’ll loosely use the term “emo” cus nobody seems 2 agree how 2 define that music genre) like mcr, paramore, panic! at the disco, secondhand serenade, asking alexandria, and black veil brides.

for the rave side of scene music, S3RL is my numba 1. hard bass music with a happy layer of cringe. discowarp is also an underrated one i will recommend, something about their style feels distinctly 2010s. both these artists are gaining traction on tiktok so u might’ve heard of them >:3

and then there’s the weird sub genre of scene music, where it’s simply music scene kids made/myspace users loved. artists like the millionaires, brokencyde, dot dot curve, and i set my friends on fire. those are all pretty important scene artists :D

ANYWAY after that long rant about music, clothes is the trickier part.

bc most of the clothes we wear are old now, the best places 2 get them are any second-hand stores or thrift shops. ebay and depop are my top places. 4 real stores u can go 2, hot topic, spencer’s, and claire’s (yes claire’s. proudly march into that kids store!!!) are basically the pillars. but other than that, u just need 2 have a good eye. black skinny jeans with rips, tank tops with chunky stripes, bows, anything with skulls, belts, converse— online u see people wearing soooo much shit (and they look kewl,) but u don’t always need all that, simple things you’ll find anywhere can still make u look scene :]

and buying scene stuff can get expensivveee real fast, so take it slow and build up ur wardrobe.

The industry's pretty girl finally made her Waterbomb debut! She's finally here, y'all! Namie's at Waterbomb! We did it!

Namie nation was so pissed every time she didn't go for the last two years, but once SM announced that she'd be going, it was all sunshine and rainbows for the first time since 2022!

She reached the peak of her fame (again) this year, so she and the rest of Pink Marmalade were trending like hell!

Namie has always had quite a lot of creative control over her solo work, and it was obvious here! She was so involved when it came to her styling for the festival (because of course she was), and she went full Y2K! She was taking inspiration from Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Ciara... like in the weeks leading up to Waterbomb she was quite literally making whole moodboards. Like, girl, it was serious.

And speaking of styling, let's get into those boots! No one knows how Namie's stylist even sourced those, but somehow it happened. They were truly the cutest thing that any idol has ever worn to Waterbomb, and "HER BOOTS" was trending for hours. So many people were attempting to find them, and Depop crashed a couple times as a result... oops!

Her Versace bikini top was also quite the hot topic! Like, fashion icon we know this already!

Aside from that, Namie's setlist was insane. She literally had all of her hits, all of the summer bops... but a good chunk of her fans were wondering where her debut singles were. And surprise, surprise, it wasn't SM behind the lack of debut era Namie.

It was Namie herself, actually. 😭

She didn't want any of her debut work on her setlist because not only did she kind of outgrow that (she's 24, y'all, come on), but those tracks really didn't fit the whole vibe of the festival. And yeah she's definitely right, but the people would've loved to hear just a wee bit of "Heart Attack," Namie!

But my God her set was incredible. She was smiling the whole time, interacting with the crowd like they were her best friends, and dancing like SM's lights were hours away from getting shut off. Like she bodied the choreography for "I'm Not Cool" like we all knew she would!

And the way she threw her hat once the chorus started... mothering.

For some reason, no one expected Namie to perform "Hey Girl" or "No. 1," but she did! Those are two of her biggest hits, and the crowd couldn't be happier!

At the time of her set, "Obsessed" was literally an unreleased song. And it was fully in English. No one in her crowd knew the words because it wasn't even on streaming services yet and it came out of nowhere, but it sounded good! It was a hit! Everyone loved it!

"NEW SONG" started trending on Twitter the second it started playing lol.

She sang one of her Japanese b-sides, too, which was also a pleasant surprise! And since the song was so long, everyone thought that was it, and then Namie and her cheeky self went "I have a surprise for you guys" right after her ending ment... as if there weren't enough surprises already!

And then "Cutie Honey" started playing... everyone cheered!

Namie is always so expressive every time she performs this song, and it was no exception here! She was up there acting like she was about to win an Oscar and making full use of that stage.

And the best part of all? Right before the first verse started, Namie took off her cute little tube top and quite literally flung it into the crowd! The way the crowd got so loud.

Whoever caught it (either accidentally or on purpose) didn't get to keep it, though lol.

Namie was all over the water guns, too. She shot at the crowd, at her dancers, and she even shot at the rest of Pink Marmalade because of course, they were front and center for their leader! But Jasmine did not appreciate that one-sided water gun fight one bit like for some reason she got hit the most!

And guess who was also in the crowd? Venus! Namie spotted them and waved like her hand was about to fall off like... leader of Constellation nation I fear lol.

After Namie's set of course the girls had to hit the festival circuit themselves! They saw Hyo, Nayeon, Taemin, Hwasa, Kiss of Life... like they got to see all of their faves!

They took so many pictures and filmed so many TikToks, and Waterbomb was essentially just a Sixteen girls reunion! Like Natty, Nayeon, and Namie were all in one room together after nine years!

All in all, Namie was one of the It girls of Waterbomb. She had a great time, #NAMIE_AT_WATERBOMB was trending for a full day, and a fancam of her performing "Cutie Honey" went viral with over nearly 3 million views on Twitter. We love that for her! ˗ˏˋ ꒰ ♡ ꒱ ˎˊ˗
