I'm making peace with the fact that I might never have a career in art. Even if illustration is the thing I'm most passionate about, I know my art style isn't very commercial, I seem to lack the discipline to build a good portfolio, I struggle way too much with networking and reaching out and there's the geography factor where every opportunity that I might be a good fit for seems to be an ocean and couple thousand dollars away 🤷🏽‍♂️

And honestly? fuck that, I'm enjoying the way my art is evolving and I think I'll be fine just doing it at my own pace. If a opportunity does come up -but it won't cuz I'm not actively pursuing it- I will definitely make the most of it but for the time being I'll stick to drawing the fictional lil guys that take up my headspace in my free time

I did use this to test out some overlays in SAI2 #that I never really touched. the talisman on fig's guitar case takes from the house protection talisman you'd put on the front door #and also I think kristen slipping while fully sat down is very funny and special. she means so much to me #okay. alright. ok someone please correct me if i'm wrong but am i weird for thinking those 'audiobooks don't count as reading' posts are ableist as fuck????

#ramble #my first thought was like: how is this even a debate what about blind people. not every book comes in braille but MOST have an audiobook #or dyslexic people #you still enjoyed the book!! you still absorbed it!!! you got EXACTLY the same thing as people who read the words!!!#how does it not count????#i guess you miss out on the 'learning new vocab' you get through seeing the words but also #i don't really do audiobooks but i do a lot of podcasts esp fiction podcasts #and i have ABSOLUTELY picked up new stuff from there that helps with my writing #someone please explain how this is even an argument of COURSE it counts????#idk in my opinion finishing a book means 'i put the words in my brain and i thought about them and i enjoyed a story'#not 'i held a stack of paper in my hands for a bit'#i'm v lucky that i do have time to sit and read. and whenever i commute anywhere it's public transport so i CAN bring a book with me #but if i didn't have the free time or had to drive for hours everywhere i would be STOKED to still get to enjoy books #it's been REALLY bothering me lmao idk why i feel so strongly #for some reason it's giving the same energy as like. being told you can't take a comic or manga from the library bc it's not a 'real' book #of course it's a real book it's a story somebody wrote down #i can see this spiralling into 'if you have a kindle you aren't reading'. you have to sniff the paper. feel the papercuts

Anteater Weevil. Smaller than a great anteater and more arboreal, the species combo would eat more termites and sap from trees than ants on the ground.

#my art #bug art #insect art #giant anteater #weevil #my cat cricket was enjoyed by so many that i had to make this one too #weevil/anteater would be my ideal pet... smaller than a giant anteater. probably perfectly lap sized #i kept both the ears and the antenna because i think both brings an interesting aspect to the nose/eyes balance #i considered the species having 6 legs but with all the hair it would have been too busy #and idk i like having four legs coming out of a 'thorax' area. that is what gives them the real bug-like feeling i think #because in most arthropods the legs only come out of the thorax

The end of season 2!!!#(Granted: this season was nearly twice the length of season one.)#It's been a really fantastic season to draw for. So many iconic moments! It was a lot of work but I had a blast B*)#I also enjoyed experimenting more and more with my comic style. I'm growing as a comic artist bit by bit!#There is even a little bit of shadowing in this one for next season. As a treat. All the fun (and not heart breaking) scenes to come!#Comic talk time: Recently saw 12 angry men for first time and I love the coincidence of the themes aligning here.#They both touch upon the horror of judicial systems - in which the most persuasive argument wins and the truth is a nuisance.#All it takes is one person to stand against the crowd and say 'I do not know what is true. And that is reasonable doubt enough.'#When the majority is for condemning someone guilty - that in itself is persuasive enough.#One will set their mind to what the 'truth' is and refuse to see it any other way. That their perspective is the only correct one.#No one is born with a monopoly on the truth.#Everyone has biases and agendas. Some care not for the outcome - only that they can be on the convenient side.#Lan Wangji is putting everything on the line to say 'I'm not going to go with the majority vote.'#And that is a huge deal in a story that is so politically focused as MDZS is. Everything is a careful chess move to these sects -#and to not play the game is basically sacrificing everything you are and your families name. For some it is unthinkable.#And there is no doubt in LWJ's mind. He would stand there and lose everything if it means upholding justice.#More importantly - these two have each other's backs. The bond is unbreakable. This is the most ride or die I have seen two people be.
