i’m so burnt out this quarter and my students are killing me... i just had a meeting with a student who was unhappy with his paper grade (C-) and thought he deserved more and i explained why he received the grade that he did and his defense was that he misunderstood me in class and didn’t understand what he was supposed to do and i literally was like. yeah misunderstandings happen but you had the prompt, the professor talked about it at length in multiple lectures, i made a six page paper guide for all of you breaking down each question on the prompt and giving guiding questions to tell you exactly what we want to see and providing writing and organization tips, i talked about it across three class sessions and made it clear i was always available via email and in office hours, so there’s really no excuse for not knowing exactly what we wanted. if you would have used the resources available to you then you certainly would have gotten a grade closer to what you wanted. and he was like oh. yeah ok

sharing something different cause i wasn't feeling well this weekend and i have this written already. little extra thing from two birds that expands on the letters kuwana and reiko wrote to each other. kind of long but i don't like it enough to post so just take the whole thing gosh!

How are you? I'm sorry I haven't written yet. I just figured out how this works in the midst of moving around. Ehime is a nice place. Far, temperate. The people in Masaki are a little too friendly. Not sure I could say the same about Matsuyama, though, I guess that's the city to a stranger. It seems silly to say, but I hope you're making some friends, if you can.

When we first drove in, a seagull shat on my car. Right on the windshield! I almost killed us both. I know you just jumped at the thought, but we're really okay. Mitsuru made fun at me for getting so startled. He's a good kid. He's a lot like you and nothing like me. Thank God. Despite our differences I think we're getting along.

We came to Matsuyama for a bit. We wanted to pop in and see you but they told us it doesn't work that way. That day it really hit that you were in prison, and not just away on a terrible vacation. I guess I'll never get over missing you. It really upset Mitsuru, so I took him to do tourist stuff instead. It was nice because a lot of people visit those areas, so the wheelchair wasn't really a problem like it is on these gravely rural roads. We met the mascot, Mikyan, and took a picture with him. I'm sure it fell out when you tore open this envelope. Did you know Ehime is famous for its mandarins? They really won't let you forget it! The photo was just going to be of Mitsuru, but this lady behind me said she could take a photo of the both of us, and I got too shy to say no. I'd never do that! Maybe I'm a changed man after all. Anyways, you have the both of us now—though it wasn't like you didn't before.

Mitsuru gave me a haircut. I look ridiculous. You can see it in the photo, right? I would have done a better job blindfolded, but he seemed proud of it, so I kept it. His hair looks pretty choppy now, but not out of revenge. I just suck at cutting hair. Did I tell you that he's trying to get his high school diploma? What a dedicated young man you've raised. I technically still have my teaching license, so I've been helping. Feels good. It's weird. Whenever I help him, I remember why I became a teacher in the first place. Ironic, isn't it? I want to tell you everything but I'll save it for the next time we see you. I'm sorry for cutting it so short, but I have a favor to ask you.

The nurses in Ijincho explained a bunch of stuff to me about Mitsuru's condition and printed it out. It's expectedly massive. Sorry to be a pain, but would you mind taking a look at it and tell me what to do? Advice? I can't make sense of it all. Or maybe I refuse to believe it. Is he really hurt so badly? What does he think of all this? I wonder about it. I wonder about it a lot. He seems fine, but then I look at all his X-rays and blood tests and I don't know what to think. How do I get him too eat? To grab things? To smile? I'm taking it one step at a time, but these technical terms are a big hurdle. You can read it, right? You've always been so much smarter than me. I'm sorry again. I'm lost. Thank you. I'm running out of room. They've got a limit on paper for prison letters. Seems strict.

It's good to finally hear from you. I'm doing as well as I can. You seem to be the same. I checked a map of Masaki to try and place you two. It seems like a nice town. Are you getting used to the short buildings and the little beach?

I've been friendly with some of the other inmates, and the seagulls here do the same, but I've been safer than you.

I got your picture. How cute. Your haircut isn't so bad, he did a good job.

I looked at the documents. I know what you mean. I expect you already know to use the feeding tube and how to bathe him. It's not surprising he did not respond well to the catheter. I wouldn't either.

Firstly, Mitsuru has anterograde amnesia. That means he has a very difficult time forming short term memory, even if his long term memory is intact. Remember when you told me he didn't know your name, even though you told him earlier? That's why. I'm not sure why he doesn't remember your face from before. I suppose that's a fortunate mystery. You may have noticed the nurses doing this, but if you tell him the same things over and over again, he'll have an easier time forming new memories. He knows what to call you now because you said it so many times. I'm sure he knows I'm in prison because the nurses told him many times, too. That's what I get.

I'm sure you're well aware of his mental health. He seems to go up and down a lot, I bet. Like his body, his brain is suck at seventeen. Doesn't he seem so... frozen in time to you? He's like an old doll, destined to be a kid forever. I'd be jealous if that was the end of it. The nurses observed that he sometimes behaves like a much younger child. Have you seen him suck his thumb? Does he tug at you when he wants your attention? Hug you at night? It's an acute stress response. He's defending his body from his mind—that's what that means.

Lastly, his food. It's not very difficult to do. Steam it for thirty minutes. If you lose track of time and think you've cooked it for too long, add another ten minutes. I did that when he was little. He hated vegetables until they weren't shaped much like vegetables anymore. He'd swallow his food whole to hurry up and play outside again, so boil it thoroughly. It should be the consistency of chewed gum or silt. Try it yourself, add salt if you hate it. He doesn't like broccoli. No broccoli. Like everything else, he's still relearning how to chew. Don't push him. He’s sensitive. You know that already, just like you know how to do all this other stuff. You have good intuition, and great memory, and it helps that Mitsuru seems to love you. Even still, don't push him. No broccoli. Thank you.

004. thank you, alex

a/n: so this is one of my Wonty "comfort fics" - so it's far from canon or never followed the original plot - which i would probably never publish (unless there's one i would like to share), but this time in this fic which i titled "Dirty Little Secret", I'm just going to post some chapters which I enjoyed writing. So the number is the chapter of this fic, and this is the chapter 4, hence, 004. Enjoy reading! 🙈

Perhaps, my crush on Monty was getting out of hand.

I flipped through the Liberty yearbook which Tyler lent me only to feast my eyes over the photos of the guy in Jersey no. 32 through the weekend, as I sat on the floor with my back against the bed.

Montgomery de la Cruz, I chanted in my head, reading his name printed in bold letters.

I stopped by a certain picture of his, running my fingers over the glossy paper, tracing his face. Tyler was lucky to have taken this rare shot of him smiling beautifully like this; those white teeth showing. He was leaning back and wearing a blue tank top. For once, he looked really happy…

I should probably ask Tyler the story behind this shot.

My phone rang a message.

I,  mindlessly, searched for it, not keeping my eyes away from the image. I could feel my heart expanding by this simple picture of him.

Bringing my phone to my face, there’s a  message from Alex: U free this afternoon?

Basically, I'm free for the whole day.

I typed a quick reply: Yes.

And not long after, Alex texted back asking us to meet up at this mall, only a five minute drive.

I wonder if this hang out thing meant anything or just platonic. Anyway, Alex seemed nice. I would love to get to know him more and perhaps get acquainted.

Looking back to the yearbook, I'm so tempted to cut the picture. Or maybe I could just ask Tyler just give me this specific yearbook, like a gift.

Alex took me bowling. And I'm not so good with the game but so far I'm having fun.

"You're so good at this," I said as Alex hit another strike.

He smiled. "Nah."

"Now, don't be modest on me," I chuckled lightly and took a bowling ball from the rack and positioned it on my hand, adjusting to its weight. Walking by the lane, I put on a stance and ran my tongue over my lower lip, aiming for a strike. Not that I'm expecting to hit one, which of course didn't happen. I looked at Alex, throwing my hands in defeat. "No, not good at this."

Alex went to hit next and of course, another strike. He raises both his arms dramatically and spun around facing me, smiling victoriously, cocking a brow.

"I give up!" I chuckled and sat down by the bench.

"You're named Winston for a reason," Alex commented, sitting beside me.

"What does that mean?"

"Winston, like Winner. Root word, win."

I laughed, throwing my head back a little. "Damn. I think I'm not doing my name justice, then."

"Practice makes perfect."

"Let's just eat. I'm starving."

"Sure."

We walked aimlessly along the mall in silence, with a few side comments about the boutiques or the shops we passed on. Then we saw and spotted some familiar faces. Well, Alex introduced me to some of them, simply pointing from afar and telling their names, since I barely knew anyone from Liberty yet, who also worked here.

Then my stomach decided to embarrass me and did a growl as we reached the food court.

“Someone’s whining,” Alex retorted.

“I know right.”

Since it’s the afternoon, there’s a lot of tables to choose from, not to mention, stalls without queues. A lot of options for us. But we just settled on some corn dogs.

"We should see some movie some time," Alex suggested. "How about tomorrow?"

"Oh, okay." I thought back if I had plans. Is looking at pictures of Monty in the yearbook counted as one?

He smiled and told me the time and rendezvous. And then added, "I-it's a date,"

I blinked. "A d-date?"

"I meant friendly date," he quickly clarified, faking a smile. I could see dejection in his eyes.

I wanted to apologize but perhaps I’m just overthinking the situation and putting meaning on how Alex was acting the past days. I may try to brush it off and act like I’m not noticing anything, but it’s there. Yet, he said so himself ‘friendly date’, maybe he really just meant us to be friendly.

"So you like someone else?" Alex asked after a moment which of course caught me off guard. I should’ve expected that question to come. I almost coughed my Coke out. Good thing, I had swallowed it down. My heart began to skip.

Should I tell him?

I avoided his gaze, and took another sip on my drink. "Uhm… yes," I said in a low voice.

"Oh…. right. Of course."

"Alex-"

"I-I'm just asking," Alex cut me off. Though, I’m afraid I’m already ruining this budding friendship and it’s the last thing I wanted. But, if he ever decides and calls off our little friendly movie date, I'd understand.

"I… Maybe I just need some company," he went on, resting his arms on the table as if for comfort. "And I… I actually like Zach," he glanced at me.

Zach. Oh. I know him.

"I kissed him," he murmured so low I almost didn’t catch it. Then he snorted, lightly. "But… of course he said he's straight."

"I'm sorry," I said in empathy. I wanted to reach for his hands but then decided against it. Then a scenario flashed in my head where I kissed Monty and then he said the same thing-- Ouch!

"It's all right. Thanks for going out with me, and listening." Alex interrupted, saving me from my disastrous thoughts.

I nodded. But then... he asked the question I’m shit scared to answer.

"May I ask who you like?"

Fuck...

I shifted on my seat. "Oh… uhm…It's..." I looked at him, warily. He was indifferent… yet. Wait till you hear this.

With a deep shaky breath I say, "Monty."

* * *

No words had been spoken since, besides the sensational "What the… fuck?" reaction from Alex who wavered before saying the word. And an awkward "Yep" from me, popping the 'p'.

We just went to our own cars and left after.

I'm sure Alex hated me now, or worse, despised me.

I knew it.

Maybe liking Monty would make you lose some friends-- lose some potential friends, rather. We're not even friends.

Was that what Monty meant when he said I got no friends here, as his own experience? Because people didn't like him?

I received a text from Alex later that night, apologizing from how he reacted. Which relieved me a hundred fold. And then he added…

Alex: But… Monty? I just can't believe it! And I think he's as straight as a ruler.

Winston: It's all right. Still a plastic ruler can be bent.

Alex: Correction. Wooden ruler. It just breaks in half, and he'll just break you.

Okay, I couldn't argue with that.

Winston: I guess. But could you keep a promise not to tell anyone?

Alex: Ok

Winston: Thanks.

Alex: So tomorrow. Same time. Same place. And move on from Monty. There's far better guys than that asshole.

Hope it's  that easy…

I'm glad that Alex didn't change towards me. He still smiled and spoke to me as if I didn't tell him something, which he found horrible.

After buying two movie tickets, we went to the snack bar to buy some popcorn.

"Oh you gotta be kidding me." I heard Alex mutter under his breath, causing me to turn and follow his gaze, only for my world to stop, seeing Monty by the entrance.

I forgot the ability to move until Alex nudged me. I blinked and turned to him. He has this amused smile.

"Seriously, Winston, close your fucking mouth. Some fly would literally rent in there."

I blushed, and sneaked another glance at Monty, longer than necessary, then to the other jocks he’s with. They’re standing by the ticket booth. I shifted closer to Alex and poked his side. "Zach's among them."

"I know. I hate it." Alex then stepped forward as it's our turn. "Two medium-sized popcorn please. Plain... And two cokes?" He told the guy behind the counter and turned to me.

"Coke," I confirmed.

And he went on ordering. But half of my attention was on the noise from the jocks. God… I couldn't believe I would see Monty here.

Oh, fuck.

I desperately searched for any mirror or any surface where I could see my reflection and fixed my hair as I saw them making their way towards us!!!

"Hi, Alex." Zach said beside me. I, discreetly, give Alex another nudge.

Alex barely glanced. "Hi."

"Zachy, I'm gonna have these Hot Tamales," Monty announced, tapping his fingers on the glass display counters, pointing over the Hot Tamales candy bars wrapped in red.

He caught my gaze and it was too late to retrieve my eyes back. So, I threw a soft smile at him, hoping I wasn’t too obvious about my loud attraction.

"Hey, Winston. You and Alex on a date?" he asked instead, and I swore I felt blood rush through my cheeks.

"N-no," I shook my head at once.

"What about you and Zach, Monty? You guys on a date?" Alex cuts in.

"Yeah. Actually it's the four of us, Scott and Charlie."

Scott and Charlie smiled and waved, making Alex roll his eyes.

Zach cleared his throat and looked at Alex. I guessed that maybe he wanted to speak to him… alone, so being a good friend as I am, I stepped aside and took the chance to stand beside Monty. But I made sure to be discreet and just tapped my fingers against the counter, my eyes fixated at the menu posted in front.

Zach whispered something to Alex and I could only catch a few words like 'mad' and 'me', giving me enough hint of what he's saying.

I tensed feeling Monty moved closer to me. "Never thought I'd see you here."

I blushed and glanced at him. "Yeah. Small world."

Then he asked me if we’re going to watch the same movie. A horror one.

“I think we should just sit together, then." Monty suggested, glancing over to Zach and Alex. "Especially, it looks like Zach and Alex have something to talk about."

I chuckled, "Sure." Would love to sit next to you.

"Winston," I heard Alex called and saw that our popcorn was ready. I took one last glance at Monty and uttered a "See you later," before making my way back to Alex.

"What did Zach tell you?" I whispered as we made our way inside the cinema.

"He wants to talk. I said yes."

I just hummed.

"Dammit, Winston. I still like him and I hate it," Alex whined a moment later, making me smile.

We took the seat in the middle section, since it's not too far and not too close, and we could watch properly. Different trailers were being shown and I noticed that there were only a few cinema-goers or maybe only few wanted to see this movie.

Later, I spotted Monty and the group inside looking for a seat, so I gave a secret wave at them, specifically, at Monty. He called his friends after he saw me. Then they made their way to us. I hid a smile. My heart wouldn't shut up about it, and it literally wanted to jump off my chest when Monty took the seat next to me.

Calm down, Winston. I’m afraid he could hear it from here, screaming his name.

Zach tried and asked Alex if he could sit beside him, only receiving a nod from Alex. But I could practically read his mind regretting taking the middle seats, when we could just take the space on either right or left wing, and have all the spaces on our own.

"Are you following me?" I heard Alex mumble to Zach.

"No. I… Monty pointed us here and…maybe I did, by deciding to sit next to you," Zach admitted.

I decided and just diverted my attention to Monty and his Hot Tamales. "Does that taste good?"

"You wanna taste?" He gestured one to my direction. I swallowed, not expecting his sudden offer. Or maybe it's because his shoulder brushed against mine.

"N-no. Thanks."

"Come on," Monty began tearing one package open and handed it to me, "Have some."

I glanced at him and reluctantly reached, staring intently at his hand, tempting to hold it.

"No, don't taste that." One of the jocks interrupted. I stopped. "You will get addicted," he added, grinning.

"Oh, fuck off, Charlie," Monty waved. "Come on. Gimme your hand."

"You're not trying to poison me, are you?" I tried to joke.

And I blushed seeing his boyish smile. "Oh no. It's a love potion," he winked.

Now that sent me. If I happen to be an ice, I've melted by now.

You don't need to give me any love potion, Monty. I wanted to say.

With a trembling hand, I held my palm out and he poured some on it. I uttered a thanks and put everything in my mouth, letting it melt in my tongue.

Charlie was right, it's kind of addicting.

"So?"

"I think I'm in love," I blurted, not breaking eye contact.

He looked away.

Oh no! Wrong move, Winston.

"I mean your friend's right. It's addicting."

He turned back to me and smiled. "I know right." He, then, handed me the Hot Tamales. “Here, have it.”

It would be a shame to take his offer down, so I just took it, our fingers brushing; enough to send electricity down my body. I wondered if he felt it too.

Wishful thinking, Winston.

"Why are you taking Monty's food? It might be contaminated," Alex whispered.

I shrugged him off and offered it to him. "You should try."

"No thanks."

I couldn't help but find Alex's distaste towards Monty, funny. Even though I shouldn't. But I'm afraid I might continue teasing him about it.

The movie finally started. And it's supposed to be scary as it's a horror film. But I'm not a bit scared. However, I'm tempted to hold Monty's hand that was on the armrest between us. But more tempted to pull the armrest up and just lean onto him. Maybe act scared?

As he took his hand away to get some popcorn - since I decided to share my popcorn with him and his friends, who I now know the names of: Charlie and Scott - I, sneakily, placed my hand on the armrest in hopes to be held by him.

Sadly, after he took a handful of popcorn he didn't put his hand back, but my hand stayed where it was. And I just forgot all my attempts on flirting.

"Holy shit!" he exclaimed.

And I tensed not because the scene was scary but because his hand, finally, landed on mine. I hid a smile. And when I thought he would notice and take it away, he didn't, and just stayed there. Though, I wasn't sure if he was ever aware of our hands, or he's too focused on the movie to even notice.

My heart pounded so loud, I could barely hear the show, and could hardly concentrate on it, blocking everything around me but only his presence. I’m only aware of the warmth and the weight of his hand on mine, making my throat dry. I just dreamt of kissing him, or simply lean on him, and embrace more of his scent.

Ugh! Shut it, Winston. Try and hold yourself together.

But how, when he’s close like this? Needless to say, his hand on mine?

The movie just ended without me really understanding everything that happened.

Monty made some comments about it, asking me some of it as soon as we got out to the lobby. I just nodded along, agreeing with everything he said. But Charlie argued with him and they went on, leaving me completely clueless, even though we all watched it together. I should've tried and focused on the show, so I could have a proper conversation with him. But until now, the heat of his hand pricked on my skin.

"Winston," Alex called, and began to walk. I hesitated and followed him outside, not giving me the chance to say goodbye to Monty and his friends.

"Are you alright on your own?" he asked

I frowned, blinking once. "Y-yeah."

"I need to go with Zach," he glanced at Zach, who’s busy chatting or probably saying parting words with his buddies, and rolled his eyes back to me. "Said he wants to talk."

"Oh. Sure."

"Again, beware of Monty. Don't be fooled by his good looks."

"So, you admit he looks good."

Alex stammered but soon gave up, sighing. "Whatever Winston. Don't say, I didn't warn you."

"Okay. Have fun with Zach." I gave his shoulder a pat. "And thanks for inviting me. I really had fun," I smiled.

Alex had to roll his eyes again. "I think I know why."

When Hajime had started catching feelings for the mystery number, he'd rationalised that it could never be you. Slowly but surely, his mystery texter had been getting him out the slump Iwaizumi had been feeling over his unrequited feelings, and instead of wondering about you, he was wondering when the next mystery number text would come.

But now you're her and she's you and his brain is going to explode. He doesn't have enough brain cells for this.

Curse this stupid, stinking crush.

“You've been on that damn phone for, what, 30 minutes now?” Iwaizumi growls, waving Oikawa's less than impressive test score across said boy’s face. “What are you, texting a new girlfriend?”

“Iwa-chan, I'm flattered you think I have a new girlfriend!” Oikawa’s ecstatic, typing with one hand and snatching away the sheet away with the other. “But no, I'm just trying to have a good time with our favorite classmate,” Oikawa metaphorically dangles you in front of him, and smirks as his friend’s eyes widen. “Oho, I’ve got your attention now, have I?”

Iwaizumi wrinkles his nose, trying to get the test back. “Shut up, shittykawa. If I knew her better, I'd apologize to her because she has to deal with the likes of you.”

The spiker makes a wild lunge for the test paper, because they came to his house to study, not so his disgraceful excuse of a best friend could tease him about a girl, but Oikawa leans just out of reach, his long arms stretching as far as they could.

“You wound me, Iwa-chan.” Oikawa chuckles, shuffling the paper under the cushion he was sitting on. “My test score wasn’t that bad, anyways-“

“You call a 52% a good grade?!”

“Well, it's a pass, isn’t it? I have more important things on my mind, anyways, like beating Ushiwaka, texting my favorite girl in class, don’t you have something to do? Oh, wait! I forgot that you were-”

“Shittykawa," Iwaizumi cuts in, a seething expression on his face, but Oikawa pays no mind. "If you finish that sentence-“

“-Socially awkward! You can’t even talk to her without blushing! But funny how that doesn’t happen when you talk to anyone else like that, hmm, Iwa-chan?”

Hajime gets up and launches himself across the chabudai, tackling Oikawa, a fist raised.

It’s 8am when Iwaizumi gets a text.

There’s a string of different crying emojis after that, which Iwaizumi finds adorable. He doesn’t know who this is, but it’s obvious that the poor guy went to Aoba Johsai. The woman who taught Japanese Literature was famous around the school for being a harsh marker and a harsher teacher style. They’d been studying Yamada’s works so far, and Iwaizumi expects whoever sent it was panicking- it was 8, school started 8:30, and English was their second lesson of the day (or it was for tomorrow, because Classes 3-4 didn’t have Literature today, but Iwaizumi assumes it’s today, otherwise they wouldn’t be this distraught.)

He glances at his watch- he had a few minutes to spare. He fishes his work out his bag, and he thanks God he's used his best handwriting (Tatsuya-sensei had caused quite the scene photocopying his work last time, showing off to the entire Class-2 how “insufferably illegible” his print was,) hoping whoever was behind the screen could read it. He takes a quick picture of it, making sure it’s not blurry and the script is clear before sending it off and hurrying out of his house.

Oikawa’s waiting for him outside as always, and Iwaizumi deliberately speeds up so he can walk past. Behind him, Oikawa makes a sort of whine from the back of his throat, quickening his pace to fall in next to him.

“What’s gotten you so cheery?” Oikawa asks, and Iwaizumi realizes he’s been smiling. He replaces it with a scowl, quickly shoving his phone in his pocket so Oikawa can’t get anymore curious.

“It’s no thanks to you.” Iwaizumi quips, and Oikawa pouts.

Iwaizumi only risks a reply when he gets to school, because Oikawa Tooru will never shut up if he sees him texting someone that is so obviously a girl.

He gets a reply soon after.

He blinks, an ungraciously amused smile making it's way onto his face. He leaves his phone alone for the school day, because his teacher has just walked in. He figured he'd reply to you after school, just before volleyball.

It's kind of a mistake, because he comes back to 12 more messages, each message reading a variant of "I'm sorry," the amount of sincerity in each message growing as the hours passed by. He figures it's time to ease the stranger out her misery, and begins typing his reply.

While waiting, he has enough time to go to the clubroom early and change out of his school uniform to his jersey. He's halfway through fixing one half of his laces when his phone pings.

Iwaizumi stares at the screen. Well, he didn't really mind. And whoever this was sounded pretty trustworthy, and not a random creep that pretended to be a Seijou student in their free time. His time to deliberate is cut short, because Oikawa slams the clubroom doors open, singing a Christmas carol Iwaizumi didn't recognise, along with Hanamaki and Matsukawa, who were discussing what kind of forfeit Oikawa had to pay today if he didn't set as well as he should; ramen or oden?

my best friend is here and i'm not ready for him to annoy me straight to satan's asscrack.

Iwaizumi whips the phone away from Oikawa's line of vision, only letting him see his asscrack remark. (It backfired, because Oikawa spends all of the time from putting his shoes on to the start of practice whinging.) The boys slowly file out of the clubroom, Kunimi shutting off the lights as the door softly clicks closed.

Iwaizumi's phone lights up in his blazer pocket, a simple "see you later!" on the screen that brightens the whole room up.

It's two weeks later when Iwaizumi needs the help he's been promised. He opens up his chat- they'd just been talking last night about Seijou's annual fair, and what they each were going to do.

"Iwa-chan, don't eat too much." Oikawa says, blinking as he tries to process the sheer amount of beancurd his friend is wolfing down.

"Says the person who hogged all the milk bread once." Iwaizumi retorts, rolling his eyes. "This is one plate of tofu, unlike when you once wasted 2000 yen to buy the school's entire daily stock of milk bread so you could eat it." He pauses to finish another cube of his favourite food. "And school milk bread doesn't even taste that great."

"It was cheap, Iwa-chan!" Oikawa tries to defend himself. "Makki, Matssun, help me out here!"

Matsukawa only shrugs, and when prompted by Oikawa to give a 'real' answer, he sides with Iwaizumi, apologizing sheepishly.

"Sorry to admit it Captain," He chuckles, "But I don't really like school food anyways."

Iwaizumi shoots Oikawa a teasing smirk, and Oikawa's just about to say something when Hanamaki pipes up.

"I like it," Makki makes a non-committal gesture, and Oikawa looks happy with that. "I mean, sure, school food isn't that great but I think the milk bread is the only good thing about it."

"Like striking gold in a coalmine!" Oikawa nods his approval, and Iwaizumi just sighs. Looking around, he spots you out of the corner of his eye, looking as good as usual and serving a few parents and students. He knows he can't call you because he'd end up sweating through his blazer, so he asks another classmate instead.

"Okuhara-kun," He calls, waving to a boy in his class. "Do you know who made the tofu?"

The boy shakes his head. "Whoever it was came early to drop it off. It had a note with it though."

This gets Iwaizumi's attention. She'd left something for him? "Oh? What did it say?"

"Uh- this is an exact quote, by the way- 'Phone-chan, don't you dare!'" Okuhara replies, drawing out quotation marks in the air. When Iwaizumi lets out a loud laugh, he takes it for disbelief.

"Is it... really that funny?" He questions, looking bemused.

Hajime grins. "Not really."

When he reads his name, he doesn't know whether to deny it completely, or confirm that it's him. Hajime puts his phone down and paces for a bit, wondering if he's fucked up. When he checks his phone again, chewing on his lip, he guffaws at the message they've left.

When Iwaizumi met whoever they were, he was gonna give them a lecture of a lifetime about not being a smartass.

Iwaizumi feels a tiny bit of jealously bubbling up- irrational, because he's only been texting them for about half a month. His friend's statement about liking talking with him more than Oikawa makes him a little pleased, because people didn't usually pick his pretty best friend over him (selfish, yeah, but he's tired of girls asking him to deliver chocolates to the setter and befriending him in hopes of getting closer to Tooru.)

But girls who had his number? Only the ones Oikawa actually had an interest in.

The grand total of the people in his class with the brunet's number was three, because as courteous and as flirtatiously he acts, he accepts and turns down people normally, and doesn't like hurting girls as much as his playboy rep boasts (Iwaizumi's always liked that about him.) The three girls he knew of consisted of Aoi, his ex, Reina, who unbeknownst to Oikawa at the time, swang the other way, and...

Iwaizumi curses during the 5th hour of trying to sleep. Curse this stupid, stinking crush.

He wishes he hadn't asked. He's fine with his favorite crying emoji user knowing who he is, but knowing that it's you sort of struck a pang in his heart that couldn't be undone. He can't concentrate in class, and though he fights it because Oikawa's caught on to this habit, he finds himself staring at you instead of listening to the teacher. The whole situation was annoying!

First he thinks you're cute but he'd chalked it up to never working out because Oikawa had managed to snag your number. Then Oikawa assures him that it's platonic and they only talk about school work which is, to say the least, bullshit, because Oikawa can't actually text without getting distracted. His best friend has a tendency to rant about volleyball or start gossiping when his phone is within reach, and it's why his study sessions happen with Hajime next to him (and even with him, Oikawa still manages to get his grubby hands on his phone.) His best friend was absolutely up to something, and it had been killing Iwaizumi that he didn't know what it was.

And then he'd gotten that cute, fated, statistically impossible text from a wrong number, and fallen into a cute flirting-but-not-really routine. They were kind, sweet, and willing to help him with trivial things like homework and make him his favorite food.

It was easier not really knowing who it was! That was mean to admit, sure, but even when Hajime had started catching feelings for the mystery number, he'd rationalised that it could never be you. Slowly but surely, his mystery texter had been getting him out the slump he had been feeling over his unrequited feelings, and instead of wondering about you, he was wondering when the next mystery number text would come.

But now you're her and she's you and his brain is going to explode. He doesn't have enough brain cells for this.

Hajime sighs, looking away from you and back to his worksheet. Algebra stares back at him with no mercy. "I have no brain cells." He mutters, amending his thoughts. In the seat next to him, Oikawa chuckles lightly.

"You've got enough to stare at her, though." He whispers, and Hajime feels his blood boiling. "I swear, when the bell rings, I'm going to-"

The teacher clears her throat loudly. "Iwaizumi-san, if you could refrain from speaking until I've finished..."

Iwaizumi feels his hot rage flood into his cheeks as embarrassment instead. "Of course, sorry sensei."

You catch his eye as he averts his eyes from the teacher, and you smile encouragingly. Hajime thinks the knot in his forehead gets worse. He feels himself go hotter, somehow, and quickly goes back to looking at his math equations. Oikawa's still fucking smirking.

"Denial, Iwa-chan."

There's something fishy in the way that Oikawa texted the group chat about getting lunch. Firstly, Oikawa liked western food for whatever reason, and whenever he asked to go out, he would picked a pricey French place. The rest of the team would debate for about 8 minutes before usually settling on a cheap soba place near the town centre. He'd claimed it was for a post-midterms celebration, and since the Christmas holidays had started, they might as well go somewhere altogether, as a team.

But Oikawa's suggested this expensive ramen place (which... alright, it's not like Oikawa never eats Japanese. But he doesn't prefer it, and Hajime is paranoid about whatever plan his best friend has hatched) and instead of shouting at him to lower the price, Makki and Mattsun agree immediately. Iwaizumi knows Makki is broke this week, after having to buy a replacement volleyball for the one they popped while roughhousing, so he doesn't understand why he'd agree to blowing 2000 yen on a single bowl of ramen.

The rest of the third years decline or agree. Iwaizumi thinks this is for plausible deniability, to make him think it's all alright. But when Oikawa @'s him in chat to confirm for the coming Thursday, he grudgingly agrees. He's wanted to try that ramen place for a while, anyway, and he's putting too much thought into this. It was just lunch with the team. It's fine.

Then the coming Thursday rolls around, and he's been standing outside the ramen place for 5 minutes and no-one is here and he's going to kill Oikawa-

Iwaizumi grumbles the entire time he's punching in the number, intending to tell you that you've been set up and you don't need to bother coming, but his phone shows up with an error that he's already got the number saved. He stares at the notification, blinking once, twice, before the elation sets in and-

"Ah, Iwaizumi?" You call his name, walking quickly towards him and giving him a bashful smile. "Sorry I'm late. I wasn't worried because I thought it was just going to be Oikawa talking my ear off, but he texted me to say... well."

He just says your name, blushing but still grinning. You chuckle, and the little display of happiness pushes him to at least try and say something, "Oikawa gave me your number, but..." Iwaizumi trails off.

"He sent yours too." You explain, pulling your phone out and, at last, he's given proof that you're the mystery number and his grin manages to get wider. The cool winter air bites less than it did before. "But I already had it saved."

"Me too." Hajime says, taking a step closer to you and taking a hand tentatively. Your fingers slip between his, and your cheeks are pink from more than just the cold.

"I had a feeling it was you." You admit, still looking at him the way you do in his dreams. "It's nice to finally meet you properly, Phone-chan."

DAY 2: Essentials I need for reviewing.

I’ve started my online review sessions (why online? Yes it’s because of COVID-19). Here are my essentials while studying! Take note, this is not all of it!! It’s just the things I need to take down notes with and the pens I use. If I include all of my study materials/essentials, you’ll see a stack of papers, well most of them are handouts and formulas. Soon I’ll be posting the formulas I’ve printed (and written down).

So let me explain what are the essentials I have on the first photo.

A notebook: This notebook is where I jot down notes about the topic I’m studying for the day. As you can see, there are terms and formulas. I’ll post a photo soon on what’s inside the notebook!

Scratch Papers: These scratch papers were from my handouts and the papers I’ve used when taking an exam (p.s. Our professors doesn’t say how many papers we’ll use during the exam so we just opt to have extra just in case.) Once the papers are given back, sometimes I have unused paper. There are also cover pages here that I flipped around since the back part is clean so why not use it!! I’m literally recycling all my papers (which is a good thing) and stapled them up. Now this is where I write down the problem solving multiple choice questions. As you can faintly see, the first part is math and calculator techniques. I’ll show you next time what is inside of it. Just a sneak peak ;)

Ruler: Yes I am an Engineering student but that doesn’t mean I can draw a perfect straight line (lol) but kidding aside, I use this to make my notes clean. Especially when I’m writing down formulas an boxing the final answer.

Earphones: Dual purpose. One, it’s for me to listen to music while studying. Sometimes I prefer to listen while studying because it makes me calm but sometimes I also prefer not to listen while studying because it’s distracting (especially when I’m close to losing my braincells). Two, it’s for my online video lectures and meetings. Since we are conducting an online review session right now due to the pandemic, I always need to have my earphones with me since I’m not the only person in the house and I can quite listen to the professor clearly instead of using my laptop’s speaker.

Laptop: Of course, one essential is the laptop. Well it’s obvious why is it an essential but I’ll just explain it. My other review materials are here, all in docx or pdf formats (also my wallet is going to cry if I print all of it). Also I use this to watch my online lectures/discussions and join a meeting for a group discussion. Also when taking a break, I can easily navigate through my sns. 

Calculator: What is an Engineering student without a calculator? Since we, Engineering Students, have subjects that needs a calculator, IT. IS. AN. ESSENTIAL. Imagine if you’re going to take an Engineering Economy exam, how are you going to solve those annuities without a calculator :)  Might as well sleep it off and cry because you forgot the most important thing. Yes. A. CALCULATOR. Also there are lot of calculator techniques that you may not know during your undergraduate days. It’s just a simple thing but can do lots. 

Pens: Yes these are the only pens I use as of the moment. A black, blue, and green pen and one mechanical pencil. I’ll explain later how I use these pen colors (lol)

Pencil Case: My pencil case doesn’t look like one. It looks like a pouch but yeah I have lots of pens inside (including pens that won’t work anymore), my small ruler and my small flip book (the one I posted before).

Okay since I explained the essentials. I’ll be now sharing the pens in the 2nd photo. (from Left to Right)

Black Pen 1: This pen, or as we call it here, a sign pen is what I’m using when I’m writing down terms, problems, solutions etc. Plus my hand writing looks neat and pretty to look at when I use this one.

Black Pen 2: This is a 0.3 pen which I use when I’m having online group discussions and I have to write FAST. I don’t know if I’ll ever post my scratch papers with notes that I quickly wrote because it’s a LIVE discussion so I can’t afford to lag behind :-). Fun note: this is a refillable one so you’ll just have to buy the ink and voila~ 

Green Pen: A 0.5 pen that I use when I write titles/terms/formulas I NEED to remember. I also use this to box the answer for the multiple choice questions. This is also refillable!

Blue Pen: I use this pen when I write headings of the topic. I don’t usually use this much unless I have to write down what number is this problem, the “solution”, “given”, “how to solve via calculator techniques” etc.

Mechanical Pencil: I love this mechanical pencil because first of all it’s green. (P.s Green isn’t my favorite color but it’s soothing to look at). I only use this when I have to write down my understanding that isn’t included in what my professor said or shown on the screen.

These are what I am using as of now. I don’t know what more will be added but we’ll see in the future posts :) Another apologies since my handwriting sucks big time. My Engineering Drawing/Drafting professor would give me a failing grade because my hand writing isn’t neat enough lol just kidding.

Hi! Can you please share your process on how to study? Or simply, how you study?

Hi Love! 

How I study depends on the subject, but here are my three major categories. If your class/test requires all of them, prioritize them according to whatever your prof / more advanced students say is most important.  

Broad Concepts 

When to use? Long answer tests / debates, connecting ideas. 

Talk to your friends about the key concepts! Explain it to friends in your class (people who can catch your mistakes / misconceptions). 

Mind maps to connect your big concepts! Make what I affectionately call “dating profiles” for them: what are their 3-5 MOST important features? 

Ex. Vaccines: safe, effective (activated B and T cells), and accessible financially/societally. 

Do some extra reading about it – make sure that you have examples of how to use the information and why it’s important. Google that shit, baby. Look at how other people describe it and use it! 

Make up “long answer” questions with your friends and trade them.

Ex. If you were a researcher trying to make a vaccine that was for pathogen X, and it needed to reach places without sufficient, what are three Next Gen vaccine types you could make, and what are their advantages and disadvantages? 

OK, so this question isn’t really fair: it requires connecting broad concepts AND knowing their tiny details! So once you’ve pinpointed what broad concepts you need to understand, move into their nitty gritty details: 

Heavy Memorizing (Detail Oriented)

When to use? Multiple choice, True/False, examples for long answers, straight-up classic memorizing (think history classes or anatomy!), fleshing out your understanding of concepts. 

Oooooh flashcards. Quizlet is OK but hand-made ones stick in my brain better, personally. Run through them, stick any of them that aren’t INSTANT recall back in the “do-over” pile, continue until they are done. THEN, pick them up again every few days until the test to keep it *fresh* 

Make a generic chart with lots of boxes. Print like 15. Fill out as much as you can from memory. Check it, add in info you forgot / correct what you got wrong. Put it away. Fill out a blank one. Repeat until you could do it in your sleep (or do it perfectly 2x in a row lol) It’s really useful for memorizing things that have categories like this: 

DISEASE 1 : host, vector, symptoms, epidemiology, pathogenic factors 

DISEASE 2 : host, vector, symptoms, epidemiology, pathogenic factors 

if you have say, Disease 1-20, and disease 1-5 are in an over arching group, you could mind map it too! 

Mind maps are the ultimate catch-all tbh. I usually do one on paper and then a million on a white board until i can nail it every time! Whoop! 

Ask your friends questions and have them ask you! Me and a friend of mine always study for parasitology by taking our notes and drilling each other with every relevant question we can think of, correcting each other as we go, and then doing it AGAIN (you guessed it) until we can get it perfectly every time, 

You might be like “thats unrealistic for the amount of notes I have!” and you might b right but we did it with over 200 powerpoint slides and both got As so….sometimes weird shit works idk fam.  

pls start studying for tests more than a 5 days out it makes memorizing things….way better…and less stressful…

Procedural (Doing it!)

When to use? Practical/lab tests, math/chemistry. 

DO EVERY PRACTICE PROBLEM PROVIDED. 

If you’ve done all of them and ur still nervous, look up youtube tutorials and pause the video when they give out a problem, get as far as you can, and then watch and see if you got it right. 

go to office hours! you prof / TA might have EVEN MORE practice problems!!

If it’s a lab technique, as you TA if you can practice w them (they might say no!)

Memorize all the steps to a method (works for lab or math/chem) and then easy peasy plug and chug it baby. This can be time consuming and stressful tho: try to break down each step LOGICALLY if you know WHY you’re doing something, you can APPLY it to new problems which is p cool. 

general advice: 

stay hydrated love. Eat!! Your brain is a diva that NEEDS glucose to function. Supply that glucose. 

you can do literally anything but don’t waste time trying to force a certain study technique to work for you. Some things gel w ur brain and some things don’t: find the right balance between lowest effort and best results. 

Work out. It’s good for ur brain to get some blood flowing! This can be walking around, doing some chill yoga poses on ur bedroom floor, whatever. It’s esp helpful to break up study sessions w some stretches / light exercises if you can. Do some wall-pushups or try to hold a plank for a few seconds. release ur physical tension it will help you focus. 

DO NOT fuck w distractions: phones, music, noises, people that distract you, do NOT let them interfere w ur study time. There is other time for that I promise you. If you go hard during study time, it will take you less time to learn the info, and then you can actually ENJOY the other things instead of feeling guilty. 

Notes (personal preferences): I usually listen to lyrical music when I’m doing practical stuff, and non-lyrical for the first bit of memorizing (or when i’m reading) and then switch to all lyrical (if u can remember that shit w hayley kiyoko blasting directly into your brain you’ll remember it when those noisy people walk by your classroom! but use this as a “final test” of sorts if lyrical music is super distracting to you.”

I also always study with a water bottle / tea / whatever to sip on so I don’t get dehydration headaches sneak up on me and gradually make me devolve into a frustrated pile of goo, but that’s just me.

Prompt: “I may be an idiot, but I’m notstupid.”

You sighed exasperatedly as you ran a hand through your hair. Nothingwas right. You were planning Taehyung’s surprise birthday party this year. Youdecided you wanted to do something special for him because when was the lasttime Taehyung had a proper birthday celebration? Probably ages ago. They werealways touring and attending award shows and whatnot, Taehyung rarelycelebrated his birthday anymore. Sure, the boys would bring in a cake and singhappy birthday and then give him presents but you thought that he deserved morethan that, and you were willing to make it happen this year. 

But, things weren’t going as smoothly as planned. The colours yourequested for the restaurant were supposed to be a simple baby blue and white,but they messed it up and threw rainbow colours everywhere making it seem likea unicorn just took a big dump in that room. You told them to fix it but theysaid it might take longer than expected. But you weren’t having any of thatbull crap, so you gave them a piece of your mind and they immediately began towork faster. 

It wasn’t just the venue though, the invitations got kinds screwed uptoo. They ended up being printed on thin paper, so it wasn’t a card anymore itwas just a flimsy piece of paper with words on it that weren’t even in the correctfont. You had to get them reprinted, and obviously it would take a lot moretime.

The one thing you were hoping that would turnout perfect was the cake, but ofcourse they had spelt his name wrong. 

“His name was spelt t e h y u n k. Who the fuck names their son Tehyunk?I swear to god, if they don’t fix it by Friday, I’m going to lose my mind,” youcomplained to Jimin who was patiently listening to your rants. 

“I know things aren’t perfect right now, but it’ll turn out great, y/n,trust me. Taehyung’s going to love you for this,” Jimin reassured you as he puthis hand on your shoulder and shook it slightly. 

You huffed and leaned your head against his shoulder, “Yeah, Ireally hope so.”

Your phone rang all of a sudden, and seeing your boyfriend’s goofy facepop up on your screen made you smile. You shushed Jimin and everyone else atthe restaurant a hundred times before picking up. 

“What’s up, Tae?” you asked. 

“y/n, where are you? I thought we were supposed to meet at the cafe at5?” he asked sounding annoyed slightly. 

You frowned in confusion. “Cafe? Why are you-” you froze when yourealised you forgot all about the coffee date you had planned with Taehyung.You just had a lot of things to sort out, it must have slipped your mind. Butyou couldn’t leave now, you had to stay and make sure the decorations wereright. 

“Oh my god, Tae, babe, I am so so sorry, it just completely slipped mymind,” you sighed. 

You didn’t hear much from Taehyung except for a defeated sigh. 

“So are you coming or what?” he said impatiently.

“I-I can’t, Tae. I’ve got some stuff to handle-”

Suddenly, Jimin let out a loud laugh that echoed throughout the room and you turned around togive him a warning look. He whispered a ‘sorry’ and got back to chatting with oneof the workers there. 

“Was that Jimin? What are you doing with him?” Taehyung asked, soundingslightly offended.

“N-Nothing!” you said hurriedly. “I uh, he’s….we’re just workingon some stuff,” you tried to reason. 

“Where are you, y/n?” Taehyung asked angrily.

“I-I’m at the uh, I’m at the library,” you lied.

“And Jimin’s with you?” he asked again. 

“Yep, we’re just doing some studying,” you said confidently.

“Funny, Jimin just told me that he was at the dance studio just a fewminutes ago.”

You went speechless as you tried to think of something to say. 

“Uh, he must have um….maybe he-” your sentence was cut off as yousquealed when you felt something cold touch your cheek. Jimin was pressing achilled can of cola to your face and he was laughing again. You swatted his hand away and lightly cursed at him to shut the hell up.

Taehyung heard all of this and he felt hurt. What were you doing withJimin? Why were the two of you laughing together? And most importantly, why were the two of you lying to him?

“y/n, what’s going on?” he asked, his voice filled with hurt. 

“Tae,” you sighed, “I-”

“You know what? Forget it,” he snapped and then said no more.

You stared at your phone, dumbfounded. You felt bad for ditchingTaehyung, but everything needed to be perfect for him and you were determinedto give him the best party ever. You turned to look at Jimin who was smiling cheekily and handing you a can of soda. 

“You were too loud! He’s definitely suspecting something,” you frowned.

“Nah, Taehyung’s not smart that way. He won’t figure it out, trust me,” Jimin reassured. 

You sighed, “I feel bad for forgetting about our date.”

“That date won’t matter soon, y/n,” Jimin said. 

You nodded, “Yeah, I guess. I’m doing this for him and him only.”

A few hours later, the restaurant looked stunning. It looked so pretty and like Jimin said, things were starting to come together perfectly. The cake had been fixed, the invitations were edited and would be sent tomorrow, and now you could finally go home and get some rest. Jimin had walked you back, and you bid him goodbye before walking into the shared apartment you had with your boyfriend. Taehyung was on the couch watching a football match and all you wanted to do was crash next to him and cuddle for the rest of the night. You closed the door and put your stuff away before plopping next to him. 

“You aren’t gonna say hi?” you asked.

Taehyung ignored you and looked straight ahead, watching the game.

You sighed and picked up his hand, “Look, I’m sorry about today. I was so busy it just slipped off my mind and I would have come and seen you but I couldn’t-”

Taehyung huffed and pulled his hand away from yours and switched off the television. He got up and went to the kitchen without saying a word. You knew you were at fault but why couldn’t he understand that you were busy? You weren’t going to sleep on this, so you went to the kitchen to find him. He was pouring himself a glass of milk when you saw him. 

“Taehyung, I told you I was sorry,” you said slightly annoyed.

You saw him roll his eyes as he screwed on the cap on the carton of milk. 

“Seriously? Why can’t you understand the fact that I had things to do-”

Suddenly Taehyung slammed the fridge door shut making a loud ‘bang’ that startled you. Your eyes widened as you looked at him, and he was finally looking at you. 

“Busy? Busy doing what?” he snapped. 

“I-I was….studying.”

Taehyung scoffed, “Studying? Yeah, bullshit, y/n. I may be an idiot, but I’m not stupid.”

You ran a hand through your hair exasperatedly. You couldn’t tell him, or the surprise would be ruined. All your hard work would be wasted, gone. 

“I can’t tell you,” you mumbled softly. 

“Why not?” he asked, his voice now sounding more hurt than angry. 

“I-I just can’t. I’m sorry, but I can’t.”

“You can’t or you don’t want to?” he growled.

“Just leave it alone, Taehyung! Why don’t you trust me?”

He raised an eyebrow giving you a questioning look. “Are you really asking me that question?”

You looked away and frowned. 

“How am I supposed to trust you when you can’t tell me something as simple as this? You’re hiding something from me and I know exactly what it is,” he said.

Your eyes shot back up to his face. “You do?”

He nodded, “And it disgusts me, y/n. The fact that you lie, and deny that you lied, when you and I clearly know what’s going on. So just say it. Spit it out, or I’ll really lose all respect I have left for you.”

You were confused. What was he talking about?

“W-why would it disgust you?” you asked sounding hurt. 

“God dammit, y/n! You’re cheating on me aren’t you? With Jimin, it had to be my best friend too. How could you? And you pretend like it isn’t a big deal. It’s fucking shameful,” he yelled.

You gaped at him, “What? No! I’m not cheating on you, who the fuck told you that?!”

“Oh please, the two of you lie to me to be together, and I heard you. I heard the both of you. Taehyung’s not smart that way? He won’t figure it out? Fuck, the two of you did this behind my back all this while. You could have just broken it off with me!”

Wait he heard that? Then you realised, maybe Taehyung hadn’t ended the call after all, he had heard your conversation with Jimin, and you could see why he thought that you were cheating on him.

You sighed, “Taehyung, you’re wrong,” you said firmly.

Taehyung just looked at you angrily, too hurt to walk out on you just yet. He still loved you so much. 

“Look I tried to do this for you but I guess it’s not going to happen. These past few days, I’ve been planning a surprise birthday party….for you,” you admitted.

Taehyung’s gaze softened and his facial expression showed realisation.

“Jimin was helping me pull this off. Yesterday, I was at the restaurant putting up decorations for the party, and I couldn’t leave to come and see you because I had to stay and make sure everything was perfect. I was just so busy planning your party I completely forgot about our date. Jimin and I lied about where we were because we obviously couldn’t tell you that we were at a restaurant preparing decorations for your party. I just wanted to do something special for you, Tae. You hardly get the chance to celebrate your birthday properly because you’re always on tour or you’ll be busy recording but this once I wanted you to have a proper celebration with your family and your friends and I….guess that’s not going to happen, well at least it isn’t going to be a surprise anymore,” you sighed. 

Taehyung sighed and walked towards you, pulling you into his embrace. He buried his face into your hair and kissed the top of your head softly. 

“God, baby, I’m so sorry. I just got hurt and scared, scared that I had probably lost you,” he murmured. 

You hugged him back and placed your head against his chest. 

“It’s okay, Tae. I can see why you were upset. Just so you know, I’d never cheat on you. Neither would Jimin ever do such a thing.”

“I know, I know,” he sighed, “I was stupid to think that. But this birthday party, babe you really didn’t have to. I just feel really bad for ruining something you put so much effort into.”

You smiled and pulled away from his chest to kiss him on the lips. He kissed back softly, sliding his hand from your waist to the back of your neck, pulling you closer. You pulled away after a few minutes and pecked his lips softly once more.

“It’s alright. You deserve this party, and it can still happen. Just that it won’t be a surprise anymore,” you shrugged. 

“I love you so much, y/n,” he cooed as he bent down to kiss you again.

You giggled, “I love you too, dork.”

"Jesus Christ Yeri, stop looking at your phone and finish this project!" you retorted at your groupmate who is also your best friend.

"I literally stopped for like 2 seconds to check the time y/n, don't overreact!" she said and continued to type your paper in History.  

"And you're literally using your laptop, why can't you just look at the time on your laptop, it's right there!" you grinned

"Shut up!"

"Obviously you're waiting for him to text you, well he won't," you said and continued to read other references on your laptop.

"This is why nobody likes you."

"Sometimes I ask myself why did we become best friends? Oh yeah right, because you love me," you said and made Yeri rolled her eyes and laughed.

High school is one of the shittiest moments in your life, with all the boys and girls trying to get noticed by their crushes or worse, being in a relationship. In high school, it seems like "who are you with" is more important above everything.

"Hey, sorry I'm late. I was up all night finding some more references," your other groupmate said while placing his bag on the table.

"Jaemin, we know you stayed up all night because you're playing video games with Jeno," you said, still focused on your laptop.

"I didn't say that," Jaemin said, opening his laptop while rubbing his eyes.

Minutes later, Jaemin arrived and took a seat in front of you while placing his backpack on the table.

"Did you print our paper?" you asked, he just nodded and yawned.

"You played video games all night again, why am I not surprised," Jaemin didn't answer and placed his face flat on his backpack.

You were surprised when Yeri slammed her left palm on the table while holding her phone on her other hand.

"Got to go guys! I just need to meet someone!" Yeri excitedly said and exited the cafeteria.

"Geez, what's up with people and their so-called crushes," you rolled your eyes and finished your lunch.

"What's up with you and your irritation towards crushes," Jaemin said, face still on his bag.

"They make me want to spill my guts out. People pursue their crushes but in the end, it will not work out." 

Jaemin lifted his face and looked at you.

"What if you met someone and I don't know, you fell for that person?"

"I doubt it," you laughed.  

Jaemin stared at your eyes.

"Just, what if?" he asked, and he seems serious.

"I don't know really, whatever happens, happens I guess?" you shrugged because the thought of you having a crush? Not gonna happen.

"We already went there yesterday! So I thought, why not I asked you to go with me?"

"Okay first, you didn't 'asked' me, you just told me to come with you somewhere."

"But--" Jaemin was cut-off by you, shushing him.

"Second, I'm tired. PE drained me physically and mentally. Third, I left my wallet at home. I don't have any extra money."

"Fear not! I'll treat you so let's go!"

Seems like this boy will never give up, you let yourself get dragged by Jaemin once again.

When you both arrived at the arcade, it was packed with high school students around your age and some kids with their brothers or sisters.

You and Jaemin bought tokens, courtesy of him of course because you forgot your wallet. He dragged you to the basketball game first.

"Let's battle!"

"Are you sure?"

"--you're ready to lose?" you said while grinning.

You and Jaemin went to every multiplayer game and tallied your scores who won on that particular game.

You sighed because you knew this would happen. Jaemin always wakes up late because of video games.

You thought of his mannerisms, his smile that makes your day, his deep laugh, his eyes that stared at your own pair whenever you two make a bet or debate about something.

Your phone buzzed again. You opened it expecting it was Jaemin, no it's Yeri. You're going to read Yeri's message, but Jaemin is calling you.

"Where are you?"

"I'm sorry! I'm walk--no running to get there on time, I'm buying fries to make it up to you."

"You better!" 

You suddenly had the urge to pee, so you went to the restroom. When you got out, you heard someone---a boy said Yeri's name.

"She's not even that pretty, She's the one who's pursuing me HAHAHAHA!"

"Dude, that girl is head over heels for you."

"Yes, she even tried to kiss me, who am I to refuse?"

"Then you dumped her the next day because you said she's boring. You're kinda cruel, man." 

The group of boys continued laughing, you couldn't resist yourself and punched the guy in the face.

"You boys are disgusting!"

"Who the hell are you?" he asked while holding his jaw.

"Dude, I think she's a friend of Yeri's," his friend whispered.

"Oh, that boring girl who likes me?" you punched him again at his comment.

"Just because you're a girl doesn't mean I'm not going to hurt you," he smirked and raised his arm but someone punched him first, and it's not you or his friends, it was Jaemin.

"Sorry I'm late, let's ditch this movie," he smiled and dragged you out of the scene. 

You went to the playground with Jaemin, you're both currently sitting on the swing set. It's already 5:30 PM and neither of you are speaking about what happened earlier. Jaemin doesn't like this, he doesn't like it when you're quiet and thinking about things that are making you sad.

"Hey, do you want to get some ice cream?" he tried to broke the silence.

"Can I say something....for like a second? Do you know the real reason why I don't want to have feelings with anybody?" you blurted out, having the urge to vent out suddenly.

"Yes, you said they make you want to spill your guts out."

"I really want to experience these things but, I can't bear the thought of someone leaving me for another. I don't want to experience this pain again. Just like what my father did," you said and looked at Jaemin, who is already looking at you.

You remembered the day your father left you and your mom for another family. You're 10 years old and just got home from school when you heard your mom and dad fighting in the kitchen, you faced them. When they saw you, they stopped but told you to go to your room.

Later that night, you were woken up by the banging of the door. You went outside to your room and saw your mother standing while crying in the living room, you saw your father already on the front door leaving. You called him and turned to you.

"Don't leave us, please. You and mom can fix this," you cried while hugging him.

"I'm sorry y/n, we can't," he broke the hug to take a look at you.

"Remember this, I love you both okay? I love you and your mom."

"If you love us then, why are you leaving?"

"I don't want to hurt your mother anymore. Give her the love I didn't give, take care of her," you father whispered while rubbing your tears away.

Then he stood up, went out and closed the door.

You told Jaemin about what happened, and how a year later you found your dad in a mall with another woman, holding a child.

"Hey, not all men are the same," Jaemin said looking into your eyes, you didn't respond and just looked at your feet again.

You clearly heard him. You just don't know what or how to respond.

"Nothing," he shrugged. Once again, silence consumed the both of you.

Until both of you spoked at the same time but being the gentleman he was, he let you speak first.

"I want to go home, I'm worried about Yeri."

"I'll walk you home," Jaemin stood up and held out his hand for you. You took it even though you still feel the awkwardness earlier.

Yes, you thought of Jaemin first because he's the easy going type of person, unlike Yeri. You always want to hang out with him because his sense of humor is different. He's always making you laugh and sometimes it's the other way around. Seeing Jaemin's smile or laugh, and knowing it's because of you makes your heart flutter. He doesn't judge you at whatever you do and listens to your rants about life 24/7. He always walks you home even though his street is on the other side. He takes care of you.

"I can't sleep."

"I've been thinking about what happened yesterday."

"I hate to say this but,,,, I like you too? I guess?" there you finally said it.

"What?" Jaemin's eyes widened, slowly he's smiling.

"Uhhhh, what do people call it? Uhm,,, I have a crush on you gOSH this is so embarrassing!" you said and covered your face with your hands. Jaemin removed your hands and squished your cheeks.

"You're cute when you get embarrassed," Jaemin laughed you punched him playfully.  

"Shut up! I hate you!"

"No, you said it yourself, you like me," Jaemin smiled widely. That soft smile that made you fell for him.

“I’ll come!” Bucky volunteered.

“No need, we’ve got this under control.” Steve smiled at his friend.

Natasha and Wanda looked at you then at Bucky before rushing over to the guys. “We’ll come with you.”

“For uh.. Moral support.” Wanda added.

“Sounds good to me.” Steve smiled. “Buck, you and Y/N stay here and watch over our camp. We’ll be back soon.”

There was no point in arguing with Steve so the two of you watched them walk off up until you couldn’t see them anymore. They had planned this all along.

There was no doubt that you and Bucky had feelings for each other and the whole team could see that. You both made it quite obvious. But over time they got tired of the flirting back and forth and since neither of you were going to tell the other how you feel, they decided that they’d take matters into their own hands and help you guys. Hence why you two are sharing a tent.

“So..” Bucky dragged the word out as he turned to you. “How’ve you been?”

He mentally slapped himself for asking such a stupid question.

“Good, good.” you nod. “You?”

“Good.” he says. There was a brief moment of silence before he turned to you. “They set this up, didn’t they?”

“No doubt.”

It had become dark quick and all of you were gathered around the campfire, laughing, talking, telling stories - it was great. But, soon that all came to an end when everyone decided to go to sleep.

“We’re going to the lake tomorrow so everyone needs to get their beauty sleep.” Tony announced then gave both you and Bucky a look. “And no fooling around. We can hear everything.”

You and Bucky blush while the others laugh. Bucky picks up a stick and throws it at Tony, muttering something under his breath about him being a dick. After watching the fire go out, everyone went to their tents and upon entering yours, you spot an air mattress blown up in the middle of it.

“Did you do this?” you ask, turning to face Bucky.

“Yeah, thought I’d put it in here so that our backs won’t hurt tomorrow from sleeping on the hard ground.” he shrugged, zipping up the tent.

“Oh thank god.” you breathe. “You’re a life saver.”

Bucky laughed and plopped down on the air mattress.

“Do the others have one too?” you inquired.

“No - Well Sam does. We only brought two and we all had to rock, paper, scissor it to see who would get them. Sam and I won.”  he explained. You nod and dig through your bag, searching for some comfortable yet warm pajamas. Even though it was midway through summer, it was pretty cold during the night. After finding some sweats and scolding yourself for not bringing a long sleeve, you turn to Bucky.

“Could you..” you trail off and he nods, covering his eyes. Once you were done changing you tell him it’s okay to look before laying down next to him, quickly covering yourself to get warm.

You watch Bucky stand up and remove his shirt all while looking at him like he’s gone crazy. “What are you doing?”

He looks up at you. “Getting undressed to go to sleep?” he answers as a question.

“Aren’t you freezing?” you curl up in a ball, bringing the blankets closer to you.

Bucky laughs. “I never get cold, doll. I was injected with the serum, remember? They didn’t call me The Winter Soldier for nothin’.”

He chuckled at his own lame joke and you playfully roll your eyes. His hands then go down to the button of his jeans and he looks at you. “Are you okay with me sleeping in my boxers? Cause if not I can find some sweats to wear.”

You wave your hand. “Nah, it’s cool.”

Bucky smiles before pulling his pants down and tossing them towards his bag. He crawls into the blankets and gets comfortable before sighing.

“You know,” he starts off. “I hope this isn’t weird or anything - Us sharing a tent.”

You turn your head to him. “It’s not.”

“Good, cause for a second I thought-”

“I’m trying to sleep here.” Sam’s voice interrupted him and you almost forgot that everyone could hear you guys talking.

“Don’t try just do, lone wolf.” Bucky replied, Causing Tony and Steve to laugh.

After the laughter died down, it went silent and not long after soft snores could be heard from the others. You turn on your side, facing away from Bucky and trying to sleep but it was so damn cold. You hadn’t realized you were shivering until Bucky tapped you on the shoulder, causing you to turn around.

“Hey..” he whispered. “Did I wake you?”

“No.” you respond, your head almost all the way under the blankets. “I was still awake.”

“You were shivering - Are you cold?” he asked, his face illuminated by the light of the full moon outside.

“Yeah. Sorry if I woke you up.” you apologize.

“You didn’t.” he says. “Do you want to.. Um.. Do you want to - I have a lot of body heat so if you want to-”

You scoot closer to Bucky, laying your head on his chest and entwining your legs with his. He wasn’t kidding, he’s so warm. Bucky let out a sigh of relief and wrapped his arm around you, loving how close the two of you were before drifting off to sleep.

The next morning Bucky woke up to giggles. Opening his eyes, the first thing he sees was you laying on top of him, his arm lazily wrapped around your body. You must have shifted on top of him while sleeping. Smiling at how gorgeous you looked while sleeping, he almost forgot about the giggles until he heard it again. His eyes shot up at the entrance of the tent, noticing it was now open and everyone was standing there, gawking at the two of you.

A flash of a camera took Bucky by surprise and Tony smiled. “These are getting printed out and going on the fridge.”

“What the hell?” Bucky groaned, glaring at everyone.

“This is so cute.” Wanda comments, Nat nodding her head in agreement.

She was beautiful, tempting, carefree, and everything I thought I wanted in a woman. One taste and I was hooked, abandoning everything and everyone I cared about to be with her. What I failed to see was the other side of her; a side that was dark, dangerous...

A/N: A long time ago I read a fic that resonated so deeply within me it blew my mind. I looked for it online not too long ago and couldn't find it. But I'll never forget it. This story is largely inspired by that one. I hope you like it.

PART 1: THE FIRST HIT

It was like encountering a beautiful storm and being smack in the middle of its eye. That's the only way I can describe what I went through with her.

She breezed in and out of my life, staying just long enough to spin me around and turn my whole world upside down. Just like the wind, she danced away, slipping right through my fingers just when I thought I had caught up with her. Everything about her was so complicated, yet so simple. She was mysterious yet obvious, elusive yet omnipresent, caring yet spiteful. Complex. Complicated. And if you mentioned all of that to her, she'd laugh and tell you she was the most straightforward person you'd ever meet.

Falling in love with her was dangerous but inevitable. Getting to know her, being with her made me feel powerful yet powerless at the same time. I couldn't stop it. I couldn't help myself from getting swept up in her essence, and when I fell in love, I fell hard.

But it nearly killed me.

The first time I met her was on a late spring night in the middle of May. I will never forget it. I was in Orlando, having just wrestled in front of a live Monday Night Raw audience as part of the newly unveiled NXT brand. We'd spent weeks traveling around the country with the main roster, exploiting our chance to showcase ourselves to a larger audience before we returned to Full Sail University, our home. At that point I was a relative unknown in the wrestling business, so I was convinced she had no idea who I was, that she'd shown interest in me simply because I was a nice guy.

For some ungodly reason, the Big Show and Mark Henry had a sudden craving for Krispy Kreme doughnuts that night, and I was assigned the unenviable task of retrieving their late night snack. With my own money, for that matter. Being a lowly rookie, I knew better than to refuse their demands. I asked for one of my three roommates to accompany me, but Jey refused to go out at such an ungodly hour, not when it wasn't a nightclub we were going to. Seth agreed with Jey, Jimmy wasn’t around to back me up, and Dean couldn't have cared less. He was busy with some girl he'd met at the arena. So that left me all alone, to pull out my wallet and take the long, lonely walk to the store and back. I knew this was a test by the veterans, like some kind of initiation to prove to the older guys in the locker room that I know my place.

But even with that, all I can remember, truly remember from that night, is her.

She was leaning against a beat-up black Audi Sedan, her long jet-black hair floating around her in soft waves and her green eyes gleaming in the golden glow of the nearby street light. She didn't take her gaze off me as I walked past her with a box of doughnuts in my hands. I remember thinking that time that she might have been a…lady of the night, if you will. I was too polite to refer to her as a prostitute, at least not to her face.

"Got a lighter?"

Those were the first words she ever said to me. To this day, I still hear that voice, low, seductive, self-assured. I remember how it gripped me in place, how I felt compelled to give her a reply. I can still smell her; that exotic, flowery yet powerful scent that blended with the late night breeze. It's a scent that has never left my nostrils.

To say that I was nervous when she first spoke to me would be an understatement. My palms became sweaty and my pulse accelerated, certain I was about to be mugged. It was around two in the morning after all and we were in a virtually empty parking lot with no one else in sight. I kept thinking of those ghastly Crime and Investigation programs where victims disappeared never to be seen again, and when they were they were either in a ditch somewhere or in chopped up pieces in a cookie jar or whatever. Still, I found myself speaking back, vaguely wondering why such a beautiful girl who looked around my age would be killing her lungs with those cancer sticks.

"Sorry, I’m not allowed to smoke," I said.

Her smile was the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen. “That’s too bad.”

And with those couple of words exchanged between us, the storm began to brew.

I saw her every day for the rest of that week. I never touched her, not inappropriately anyway, and she never made any advances towards me like I expected she would. She gave me her address that first night. "If you ever want to talk," she'd added as she told me. I had no pen or paper to write it down, but I never forgot it either. I was at her front door the very next day. The way we talked, the way I was at ease with her was as if I'd known her all my life. She wasn't particularly snoopy, just asked me what a nice-looking young guy like myself had been doing wandering around so late at night. I explained my minor dilemma with the Big Show and Mark Henry to her, choosing not to mention their names or anything about my job. I didn't think I was ready to give her more details than that, telling her I was a wrestler and all. I wanted her to be interested in me for who I was, not what I did for a living. However, she never pressed me; never asked for more than I was ready to give.

NXT was starting to make big waves in the wrestling industry, and we were soon selling out venues outside Orlando. The night before we were to go on the road, I insisted on taking her out for dinner, even if it was just a takeout or something. It was the least I could do after letting me into her home for days without asking for anything in return. Luckily she agreed, and we went to a Denny's. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a meal as much as I did that night. We didn't leave the restaurant for another three hours. I nearly got in trouble with Dusty and William Regal and the other boys for missing curfews all the past few days, and I risked more trouble again, but it didn't matter to me. She was all I could think about.

This night, I kissed her. As we said goodbye and she turned to walk up the steps to her house, I pulled her back and pressed my lips to hers. To my delight, she kissed me back, running her fingers over the back of my neck. The hairs stood on end, dazed and giddy that this was actually happening. The kiss lasted less than a minute, but it was forever embossed on my brain. She tasted like fresh mint, a flavor I personally crave to this day.

The boys and I returned to Orlando a month later with our name bigger than when we left off, but that was not my main concern. I looked for my mystery girl but she was nowhere to be found. Her apartment had been rented out to someone else, and no one at the building had details of her whereabouts. She'd just vanished into thin air. I nearly went insane. I'd waited an entire month to see her again and she was gone, just like that, without any warning or notice.

The boys thought I was out of my mind to get this wound up over a girl I barely really knew. She obviously didn't care about me enough to let me know she was leaving. Maybe it was for the better, they said. I didn't believe them. They didn't know her. They didn't understand how our relationship worked.

Seth soon pulled me aside and told me to snap out of it. If we were meant to be, I would see her again. For now, I needed to focus on the work at hand. We were at a crucial stage in our career as members of the newly-formed trio The Shield, and there were whispers of us about to hit the main roster very soon. It could make or break us and he and Dean were depending on me. He was right, and so I forced myself to banish all thoughts of her.

It was Seth, coincidentally, who introduced me to Melody. She was about our age and was modelling our women’s merchandise to be printed on the company’s website. Seth kept harping about how pretty she was and I should go talk to her. Eventually I did, and I didn't regret it. She was gorgeous, witty and charming. It wasn't long before we were dating. I couldn't have asked for a better woman to be my girlfriend.

Yet, I kept thinking about her.

The Shield made their long-awaited debut at the Survivor Series pay-per-view, dispatching of Ryback by power-bombing him through an announce table. The next couple of months were a complete whirlwind. We were recognized everywhere we went and we loved the attention from the press and the WWE fans. It was incredible. Dean, Seth and I had waited for this moment for so long, a dream that we'd all shared, and it was finally ours.

One night back in Orlando, a group of us decided to hit a club, and Melody and Dean's flavor of the week, Chelsea or something, were invited. Melody tried to get me out on the dance floor but I was tired from the busy week and just was not feeling up to it. With a shrug, she went off to the dance floor with some of the girls from work.

A while later I leaned over the balcony of the VIP section, looking down at the party-goers on the dance floor below me. Seth as usual was surrounded by women, and Dean and Shelly – I think – were grinding up a storm beside Nikki, Brie and Melody. My eyes wandered idly over the rest of the floor.

Then I saw her.

I couldn't believe it. It had been nearly six months from the last time I'd seen her. There she was in the corner of the club, straddling some sleazebag who was groping her and had his tongue jammed down her throat. She seemed not to care at all. Seeing her in his arms like that made me feel betrayed, despite being with Melody.

As though feeling like she was being watched, she looked up, turned her head, and across several yards and one floor between us, our eyes met. I watched, almost paralyzed by the familiar lazy smile that spread across her red lips. Man, this woman was trouble, but I knew deep down inside me that she was the kind of trouble that I would always want, no matter what.

All of a sudden, the music seemed too loud, there was too much noise, the club was too crowded, everything seemed too much for me to bear. I jerked away from the balcony railing as though I'd been electrocuted, rushing out of the club and ducking into a dark alley, I leaned against the brick wall of the building, breathing heavily, fighting back tears, and cursing myself for feeling like this. For missing her when she clearly didn’t miss me.

That was how she found me. She looked absolutely amazing, from her skin-tight red dress to her long, flowing hair and those long legs that I suddenly, desperately wanted to feel wrapped around my waist. Her eyes sparkled in amusement.

"It's been a while, Mr. Reigns."

If I said anything in reply, I don't remember. I only remember that that night was the first time we had sex. First in that alley right there, then back at her home, where we went at it all night. It was the greatest night of my life. I'd had a couple of girlfriends and even groupies before, but none of them did what she did to me. None of them made me feel the way I did that night. I couldn't find enough adjectives to describe my experience. She blew me away, literally and figuratively, and once again, I knew I would only want more from her, more with her.

When I showed up at the hotel the next morning, it seemed as though a search party was about to be deployed for me. Regal got on my case for being late – again – and straying from the group. Seth berated me for being careless while Melody, with hurt in her eyes, quietly asked me where I'd disappeared to. They all looked at me with disappointment in their expressions, and I lied right to their faces without batting an eyelid. Made up some excuse and walked off to text her about how amazing last night was. I felt no guilt or remorse. All I cared about was that I'd spent an incredible night with an incredible woman, and nothing they said would bring me down from my high.

Nothing.

Oh man I have so many stories from my faux-retail job: 

- Our lobby closes at 4 PM. Our lobby has ALWAYS closed at 4 PM. This is not something that we changed any time recently. We still have long-time members come in at 3:59 and joke about making it last-minute. Then, of course, MORE members will come in because so-and-so was in there, too, so they figured they’d come in and get their stuff done instead of going through the open drive-up. People will walk up to the already locked door after 4:00 and yank on it and then stand there looking offended and confused until they see the sign that has literally always been out there stating that the lobby closes at 4:00, then get back in their car and screech around to the drive-up window and act like we purposely locked the doors just to ruin their day. There have been many new and non-members that do it too. Particularly bad were a couple who had already been told that the lobby closed at 4:00 and if they wanted to return with paperwork for the loan they were trying to get then they needed to come in before then; who then came at 4:18 PM and tried to open the door and then stood there BANGING on the glass window and gesturing at us, then barged in through the door when I unlocked it to try to tell them to go around to the window. They were all “we know you’re locked up but we wanted to get this done today!!!!!” All they did was hand me some paperwork for me to copy and then leave. I was furious. (They were also vague about what the loan was for and it turned out they were getting an expensive puppy from a notoriously awful pet store that gets their dogs from puppy mills. I wanted to die.)

- Phones are becoming such a problem. My coworker put up signs with just a cell phone crossed out and I told her at the time that they were too vague and people would ignore them but she didn’t think so. She was wrong. I had a lady literally hold her finger up and hush me when I greeted her as she drove up to the window with her phone to her ear. I wanted to climb through the bulletproof glass, rip the phone from her hand, and smash it in the driveway. People will answer their phones in the middle of a transaction and ignore me when I ask important questions (do you want that in checking or savings, is this for a loan payment, how would you like that applied, this check hasn’t been endorsed properly, how would you like your cash back, etc) then after I’ve had to complete the transaction without their direction they say they didn’t want it done that way. Well, gee, Sharon, maybe if you’d GET OFF YOUR FUCKING PHONE, we could have done it right the first time. 

- That one lady that let her grandson take one of the toys because he screamed when she told him to put it back, claimed she’d bring it back later when she could get it away from him, then never did. 

- People who hand me cash or checks and tell me what they want to do with it and then just stand there and stare. There’s a deposit slip right in front of you. Use it. It’s there for both you and me - if I do something wrong, there is a record. If YOU do something wrong, there is a record. You’re literally setting yourself up if you don’t use it. (Not that people can figure out how to write them out properly anyway - it’s apparently rocket science to fill out a deposit slip that basically lays it out for you.) 

- When my coworker and I are both standing at the counter and one of us is clearly busy, people still go to the busy one. I’ll be standing there staring at them and greeting them and they’ll still go over to her, even though she usually has loan paperwork spread across her station and is very clearly doing something. She just awkwardly tells them to go to me and I internally facepalm. Oddly, the opposite happens when I’m on break. I sit in a corner behind a little wall but I can still see the teller area fairly well and people will walk in, see my coworker at her station, and still go to my empty station and start filling out their deposit slips. Sometimes they’ll move over to her, but most of the time she ends up going and grabbing their stuff, doing the transaction on her computer, and then going back to my station to give them their receipt. Like ??? okay. People. 

- One time a couple were both at my station making transactions and the guy just turns around, watches a person make a turn out on the street through the window, points and angrily follows the car’s movements while saying very loudly, “THAT WAS AN ILLEGAL U-TURN, I SAW THAT. I SAW YOU, MISTER.” What’s worse is that it wasn’t and people turn there 100 times a day, it’s just an awkward turn... But totally legal. It was weird.

- Personal hygiene, folks. Please. Sometimes we have to open all three windows in the lobby regardless of the weather outside because some folks smell like they just bathed in a lake of B.O. and cigarette smoke and leave a lingering haze after they’re gone. 

- The people who come in and jokingly say, “give me all of your money!” Har dee har har har, I haven’t heard that one 12164165 times in the 8-1/2 months I’ve been here... Add to it the people who say, “you’re going to give me $10,000 for free, right?! Ha! Ha!” 

- The people who call to have us transfer money or make a VISA payment for them but rattle it off so fast that I have literally no idea what words just came out of their mouth. Not to mention the assumption that we’re just standing next to the phone with a pen and paper in hand waiting anxiously for them to call and aren’t trying to multi-task because they totally didn’t just call while we were in the middle of something else equally as important as the transfer they could have done online. (Also in that vein, the people who call to ask what their account balance is when we have a home banking website. Or who ask if we can send them a copy of their statement (like once a fucking week) for free “because I don’t want to print it off of my email!” So we started charging $5 a page to get them to stop. They still don’t.) 

- “There’s a transaction pending in my account that I don’t want to go through, can you block it?” “Sorry, it’s already pending so we can’t.” “But this company is STEALING my MONEY. I need it blocked!” “The transaction is already in the process, there is literally no way we can stop it now. Have you perhaps tried talking to the company at any point to get them to stop these recurring payments?” “No, I signed up for their service and don’t want to pay for it anymore. I just want you to block it. I don’t want to talk to them anymore.” *facepalm* “You need to talk to them and cancel their service because it’ll be a $35.00 stop payment fee from us and there’s still no guarantee that we can stop the payment every time.” “Okay, I guess I’ll call them...” Repeat every month ad infinitum. 

- Also: “There’s a charge in my account that I don’t know what it is!!! Can you tell me!!! Can you return it?!?! I didn’t authorize this!!!” “Okay it came from [insert company name/check number/etc here], that’s all I can tell you. You might try calling the company and telling them what happened and see if they can reverse it. We can’t reverse the charge because we didn’t initiate it.” “Okay I’ll call them right now!!!” *Five minutes later they call back* “Hey about that charge... I forgot I made a payment/bought that item last week and it just went through yesterday... ha ha.” EVERY TIME. E V E R Y TIME.

- People who get weird about policies that have been in place since forever. No, Sharon, I can’t waive the 5-day hold on your $10,000 suspiciously ambiguous “insurance” check and let you walk off with the money scot-free. You want to talk to the boss? Sure, I will have the CEO come out and personally tell you the exact same thing I just told you. She loves taking time out of her CEO duties to tell you we can’t bend federal policy just because you think you deserve special treatment because you want to buy a car with the money tonight. Go to Wal-mart and pay their 3% fee or accept the hold like everybody else. 

- One time I had a lady get shaking-mad over a $5 cashier check fee when she wanted to take a fairly small (for us) amount of money out as a check instead of cash. She threw a fit and acted like I was holding a gun to her head and forcing her to take cash because she wasn’t about to pay a standard fee that every financial institution charges. She then called two months later to raise another fit about it and threaten to take her savings elsewhere. She had over $40,000 in her savings and we know she has other savings accounts with other banks on top of it. But that $5 charge to cover the cost of the cashier check made her see red. When I told my boss, she was like, “good, let her leave. Members like that don’t bring in any money for us so I’d even cut the check myself!” (We’re not profit driven but fees and loans keep us open - a simple savings account actually costs us money. Keep this in mind when your credit union charges you for services that take time and resources to complete.) 

I could probably write a novel on the weird and obnoxious experiences I’ve had in the short amount of time I’ve spent working in a credit union, which is basically a glorified retail job, but it’s 2:38 AM and I should stop.

1975 hockey World Cup winner Ashok Diwan stranded in U.S., writes to Narinder Batra for help

Stranded in the USA due to travel restrictions, hockey Olympian and member of the 1975 World Cup winning team, Ashok Diwan desperately needs government help to get back to India.

His deteriorating health adding to the trauma, the 65-year-old Diwan has made a distress call to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Narinder Batra, requesting him to take his plea to the higher authorities.

“I need your help as I am stuck in USA and have developed some health problems. I had to attend hospital in emergency last week in California. I am not feeling well these days, moreover doesn’t have insurance here. The medical costs are very high here,” Diwan wrote to Batra, who also heads International Hockey Federation (FIH).

“Originally, I was supposed to fly back on April 20 by Air India but due to the ongoing epidemic situation my travel dates have been pushed back.

“I request a favour for forwarding this message to Honourable Sports Minister and External Affairs Minister for helping me with a hospital for my check up or if they can arrange earlier departure from San Francisco to India,” he added.

The hero of 1975 World Cup-winning team also promised to pay all the bills after returning back to India.

“Kindly, treat this urgent as I am really in bad health here,” he said.

Diwan, a member of the 1976 Olympic team, travelled to Sacremento in December last year to spend time with his son, who is works there. But the spike in COVID-19 pandemic across the globe led to strict travel restrictions.

“My father went to the US in December and was scheduled to return on April 20. He went alone to meet my brother, who is unmarried and working there. But suddenly he fell sick and had to rush to an emergency facility there after complaining of high blood pressure and anxiety,” Diwan’s daughter Arushi told PTI.

“Through medical tests, conducted there, it came to light that he has heart problem. The system is different is the US and right now it is very strict because of the situation there. The doctor gave him a month’s medicine but it is not helping him.

“Moreover, he forgot to get his medical insurance this time. The check up approximately cost him USD 700, so you can imagine how costly medical treatment is in the US. He is now anxious and is desperate to comeback home at the earliest,” she said.

Diwan’s wife Sunita and daughter Arushi didn’t hide their anxiety and helplessness.

“We are feeling really helpless. My brother is alone with Papa there but the situation is critical in US, far worse than India. So, we decided to approach Batra (Narinder Batra) uncle. Hope, the government will step in and help us,” Arushi said.

The pandemic has created an unprecedented health scare as more than 1.5 million positive cases have been registered worldwide with 87,320 deaths across 192 countries since the epidemic first emerged in China late last year.

The United States, where the pandemic is spreading rapidly, has so far recorded 432,132 cases, including 14,817 deaths, massive figures compared to India where close to 5800 positive cases have been recorded with about 170 deaths.

Today was super crazy it was soupposed to be the second last day of school before school was gonna close bcs of the coronavirus. I wasn’t scared yesterday but once it was 3rd hour history that’s when anxiety hit me mega hard. I was like wow this is real and we are actually getting off of school. I was kinda exited but then when she started explaining what was gonna happen I got a lot of anxiety. I was thinking, “ what I’m I going to do. How am I going to do this” I was kinda scared. Also that morning I was actually tired like I never felt that tried for waking to go to school. Then the day went on as usual math just did the lesson, art just did screen printing but I didn’t even get to start my project. Then the art teacher started giving back art projects bcs she was like idk when we r gonna come back or even if we r. Then I was like dang. English was boring like usual we just did our book reports of the autobiography. The thing is I didn’t even finish reading my book about Malcolm X I forgot about it. Then band she just told us how we r going to have band class in videos and also there is this dude (imma call him T) that took a vid of him during band class. Then everyone saw it it was kinda funny. T is one of 3 people that are black. You can say there is not a lot of diversity even the band teacher said that is mostly whites, some Mexicans, one Asian, and 3 blacks. My band teacher is the theather director and she wants to do musicals like RENT but that need a lot of diversity to have that but we don’t have that at all. But anyways then lunch was usual except my friend K dropped milk on her self kinda funny😂. But science is when I got a lot of stress. Bcs during this week that was supposed to be normal we were going to have a 2 day test on Friday and Thursday. But since we only had to days we had to take it on Monday (yesterday). But the good thing is he gave us our study guides back and said we can use them. I was so happy but he also said we could use the book. Then I got sad bcs I barely bring that book. I didn’t finish the test and said we would finish the test tomorrow like nobody finished the test. Then I had study hall in 7th hour I only did a bit of my math hw but I had a band lesson bcs since we had a 2 day week and we need to get 3 lesson each quarter. This week was white week which was my week to have my lesson. There is a blue and white week that alternate every other week. But ya I had one yesterday which took up the rest of study hall. I didn’t mine bcs I didn’t have much hw. Then 8th hour came the teacher explained us what’s happening and how we r going to do this. But many teachers didn’t even know like history and math they said u will learn more tomorrow. Like for science today (Tuesday) we had to get papers and stuff. But while watching a vid for health the teacher stopped it and said we won’t have school tomorrow (today) bcs the governor said so. Then they went on the announcements to tell everyone and what people had to come to the office to get textbooks and stuff. We also had a worksheet with the vid but she said we won’t be back the next day so I was happy about that. Then decided to turn off the vid bcs they announcements keep going off. Then she asked if anyone had questions and I said, “is drivers ed classes canceled”. Boy I didnt want to go to that. Then she said that’s a good question and that she would call the office then someone else who was in that drivers ed class said that we would do them at village hall. Then after that she let us do whatever and talk. Then drivers ed came and was boring but I got anxiety I was like getting light headed and shaking idk why maybe just stess. But then I forgot my science notebook and when we had break I went to go get it with my friend K. I also wanted to fart so bad during that class bcs the whole day I have been holding in a fart. But then I walked some singing some Disney songs😂. Then I came home eat and work on hw. Then my wifi was taken off the day before bcs I was just on Tik Tok and my older brother wants me to study. Ig he wants me to be....

Okay so we arrived at like, 10:23 or abt that time so i had some time before my first panel so i just kinda walked around. i dont think anything happened around that time, sorry. my memory of today is a lil bit hazy at parts. but while on the escalator, i looked over at registration n saw creeper print and a yellow crown n the person rly looked like king gavin n i openly Gasped but i couldnt get to them obviously but i was like gjhnsmjgh hh.

then, i went to the yoi panel! uhm.. not much to comment on for this panel, sorry. there was a viktor, yuri, and yurio! i remember there was a personality swap ask and for part of the panel, they all had switched jackets because of a dare.

next was the oh-shc panel! the honey was rly cute n gave a lot of hugs to a lot of the audience members n they were such sute hugs gjhnsm.. like the ones where u semi-leap at a person n hug em w slight movement it was so cute. kyoya said his entire budget book he brought was all for tamaki’s expenses and tamaki proposed to haruhi as a dare but earlier in the panel he was imagining outloud him n haruhi’s wedding gjhnsm

after that, i couldve went to the grav!ity falls panel or the bn-ha one, but since the bn-ha one was in the same room as the previous two, i just decided to stay in my seat for that one. the todoroki n kirishima came in late w starbucks which todoroki says was paid for by endeavor bc he had his dad’s credit card n he actually gave out 2 fake paper credit cards to ppl. aizawa got asked what the dumbest thing he’s gotten asked by one of his students n he said it was “whats your quirk, aizawa?” n todoroki said “it’s not ‘is mayonaise an instrument’? then there was other stuff n they played Sentences and i suggested the scenario “furry convention” after someone suggested todoroki and izuku. ALSO!!! i won the raffle for a bn-ha poster! it was drawn by the uraraka that was one of the panelists n it looks so good ;w; dunno where im gonna put it.. but as my first fanmade print (that’s not my hs wall scroll, which was officially licensed), ill cherish it.

after that i had time to walk! i saw a bunch of id0lish cosplayers! the id0lish7 ones in the dream journey outfits n the 2 trigger members i saw were in similar outfits? i forgot the name for them. anyway! i saw a gentaro n took their pic n they were like “i hav a dice n ramuda somewhere around here.. we’re fl!ng posse” so i wndered around the dealers room n eventually found the dice n ramuda together n took their pic too! thn i kept wanderin n i!! found the king gavin n i was like “are you cosplaying king gavin” n they were like “yea!” n i was!! so happy!!! n they turned to their friend n they were like “see you shouldve stayed in costume! [turns 2 me] they were mad k!ng ryan up until a lil while ago; they changed” but anyway i took their pic n they were talking abt how it feels kinda odd to come to terms w the fact theyre cosplaying minecraft n how they saw a minecraft person earlier n thought abt talking to them but it’s different bc it’s ach!evement hunter so they dont kno the full picture. i saw a corrin w arei button!! which was exciting. also met a nico who said they were gonna b arashi that day but didnt wanna contour but theyre gonna b her tomorrow!! DURING THIS TIME i also saw an adachi body pillow at an artist’s booth n im.. gjhnskm....... i wanted it...... i later found out it was $60 tho so. ;w; i met a sougo n tamaki n i asked if i could take their pic n they said yea, just give em a sec, n the sougo was like “r u cosplayin tsukasa??” n i said yep n they were like do u wanna b in our mv?” n i thought it was a whole event thing n i was like “oh. id hav to check my schedule i might b busy but” n they were talking abt how we (me, the luka next to them, n the kaito next to luka) would just do like steps to the side by following sougos lead n i was confused n repeated myself but the sougo was like “oh, no no it’s right now” n so i did that w them while the tamaki filmed n unfortunately i 4got to ask their instagrams so idk where the vid is but w/e. the sougo told me abt an id0lish meetup at 5 pm, too, out on the docks. 

the h!veswap panel was p funny! an eridan n feferi in the audience were also entertaining, esp during the improve games. i remember someone asked lanque “what r ur fashion tips?” n lanque was like “...Dont Bother” n joey was confused by troll stuff n i asked daraya what her fav punk band was n she was like “we only listen to the grubbles. have u heard em?” n i was like “i.. actually havent heard the full album yet so i guess not?” but as im typing this i think i actually have?/ oops. anyway a lot happened but it’s rly hate so im gonna.... move on. im typing this paragraph last bc i 4got to type it lmao.

a ruby and dia complimented my nails! then i saw a doppo!! they were apparently the reo i took a pic of yesterday. they said their jakurai was still getting ready. 

i tried to go to the grav!ty falls party but it was just one girl as mabel making the audience do games for prizes that were rly boring like decoding n stuff so i left after abt 15 minutes n went walking again. i had 2 hrs to walk now.

i went downstairs after walkina round the dealers room n there was!! a bloody banquet rei and koga!!! they were so pretty.. i was intimidated kinda but i managed to approach them n we talked abt rei’s rei itabag n koga’s goro itabag n rei said they once spent $150 dollars in rei merch in one sitting on yahoo auctions whoa. they were rly cool tho! we talked for a few minutes. later, i also saw another hypm!c group of MTR + ramuda n took their pics n the ramuda was like “ur sign omg. wait r u tsukasa??” n i said yep n we got excited abt ES n the jakurai told me theres an ES meetup tomorrow at 1 pm!! unfortunately, i hav a panel (2, actually, but i can only choose 1) that is at that time so idk if ill go... esp since it’ll prob only b a few ppl n im not the type of person to make friends anyway, yknow? ....anyway! the hifumi game me a lil clear heart tin w tiny fake yellow flowers n a piece of paper that said: “thank u, prince/princess! -hifumi [doodle of 2 champagne glasses]” n thats.. so cute. i gave them a lollipop in return. little while later, met another jakurai! i think we also talked abt ens-tars!! cant remember a lot of it tho gomen. then a lil while later, i saw the kakeru cosplayer i had heard abt on twitter! they were manning an art booth. i was like “are you cosplaying kakeru?” n they were like “yea!” n i took their pic n i was like “i didnt think id rly find k!npri cosplayers here aa” n the kakeru went “FINALLY i can use one of these!” n handed me a lil kakeru sticker they drew n i was like “his fumb bg pink jacket.. it makes him look like a Shrimp” n we both laughed n they showed me the k!npri stuff on their table n a joji on the other side of their display that looked like he was behind bars bc the display thingy and a jin hanging from one of the bars. they (the kakeru n the person they were with) were like “we kept seeing you walk by w ur sign n we were like ‘i hope they find leo!’” (both days, bc the other person asked if i was tsukasa yesterday) n i showed them my yug!oh card that’s an obscure reference to a tsukasa cg! n i talked to them a lil bit abt ens-tars but i cant remember a lot gahh!! and while i was standing there, a honoka came up and asked for my photo n i was like “ANOTHER ES FAN??” n i talked to them for a sec n forgot to put up my prop for the photo at first gjhnsm but that was cool!!  oh, the honoka also asked me if i liked anzu n i was like “she’s super cute in the anime”

after that i tried to go to the fru!ts basket panel but im only 6 eps in the remake anime n they had almost all the characters n i didnt understand a lot of the questions bc i hadnt seen much of the show so.. then after only a few minutes of q+a they started up trivis so i left n just walked around the dealers room. it was during this time that my crown fell off (SECOND DAY IN A ROW) n i searched the whole dealers room but couldnt find it?? ghh..

ANYWAY i found another ramuda w a jakurai n the ramuda liked my sign too n they were like “ur tsukasa!” n i went yep n they saw the buttons ns tuff on my bag n all my keychains n they were like ‘oh, sry” n i was like “no no, it’s okay, u can go thru all the keychains on my backpack i hav A Lot” n i pointed out chiaki as my best boy n mika as my 2nd fav n they said they cosplay hakaze. at some point, i played drops on my flip phone i think bc ramuda was saying smth pertaining to drops?? mayb not. but i played it n jakurai was like “oh god i hav to hear it hre too..” (in-character, i think) n i spotted another ramud in the distand n asked them to wtch my stuff while i took the ramudas pic so i went over n the person next to them had an arashi plush!e n we both squealed (i think. i did tho, Loudly.)

after this i just wandered n i danced on the dance floor! chacha slide, cupid shuffle, n time warp iirc! def time warp tho. also to some 80s song n some guy not in cosplay spun me around nt ried to swing dance we me but he was completely leading it n i didnt kno what to do!! after that i saw a tumblr/con friend while on my way to the yoi panel!!

then the yoi panel was actually p funny! a lot of questions abt yurio’s parents being viktor and yuri and yuri n viktor slowdanced to an edd sheeran song n otabek showed off their muscles (like, flexed their arms in their tank top) n yuri kept dramatically thwipping open their rainbow fan esp in responses to gay asks. at one point, someone asked abt yaois n a mom who was attending w their preteen or teen child was like “whats yaoi?” n the ppl behind her were like “i dont wanna b the one to do this..” n ppl told the mom n the mom to their teen/preteen kid was like “what are u watching? where? is it okay? is it on tv?” n the kid was responding to ehr questions but i couldnt hear them gjhnsm. yurio did a dance to a song n after that, we all danced to cupid shuffle n wobble n then i stopped but others did the time warp too. oh! also i answered a trivia question right (”who’s yuri’s best friend?” “pichit”) and got an utapr! keychain/strap! it’s reiji in a glitter thing. none of the other stuff there aside from some yoi straps was my fandoms so i saw utapr! n went for it.

then the bnh-a pj party! ...uh. the original panelists never showed up so random bn-ha cosplayers (and their non-cn.ha-cosplaying friends) tred to host the panel but everythign was hectic and loud n unfocused n a wreck but i noticed a ramuda n a hifumi i hadnt taken a pic of yet in the corner of the room (there were no chairs) so i eventually got annoyed/bored n went over to ask for a pic but ended up asking to sit w them (i walked over, put my sign down, n went “i said Fuck leo rights n higumi was like “that chara is familiar..” n i said leo from ES n they were like “oh i watched p 1 of that” n i was like “ep 2, this unday. stan ryuseitai”) n i ended up talking to them abt hypm!c n cosplay stuff n i talked a bit abt ens-tars and we all agreed that stella n papillion Slap on the new album. n ramuda said they were cosplaying as a prom!sed neverland haracter tomorrow n recommended it to me n i was like “oh im watching fru!ts basket rn tho” n the hifumi said they were too n the ramuda was like “do u kno the horse one in fru!ts basket? My Horse Boyfriend....” (the game. i think that was the name) so i showed them the hypm!c ask blog where they draw some of the charcaters as horses n the other characters as cowboys n the ramuda showed me the pics that r on their swear jar (photshopped pics of kinako w long legs in stockings+heels) n id0lish memes n it was all chill!! i played drops for them on my phone too. someone came over n went “if u can type w those nails, ur a god[dess]” n i said i could w Only my nails n they said i was like a god[dess] hehe. the higumi said they should make a tumblr n i heard them muttering “should i put 14 on here?” n ramuda went “well i mean, you Are 14-” n i went “ur 14?” n they nodded n i asked the ramuda how old They were n they said 14 n i was like “oh my god.. yallre babies..... gjhnsmk im 18.” n the ramuda crawled back a bit n they were like “18??” n the hifumi was like “u look so young tho whoa! rly?” n i was like “yea i look p young.. ive been compared to a freshman b4..... n yea i graduated like 2 months ago” n the hifumi was like “congratulations :o”
