Also I just realised I definitely based one of my fictional towns on fucking Strangetown
#literally a desert town filled with ufo sightings and conspiracy theories and werewolves#and everyone there is gay#it’s literally half strangetown and half night vale#no but is it my fault that settings like that fuck severely? american southwest desert: fucks severely#aliens: fuck severely. werewolves: fuck severely. conspiracies: fuck severely#homosexuality? you won’t guess#this is just one of my fictional towns lol#i also have a heavily weird swampy evangelical town in northern mississippi; a very dark and dingy town somewhere in west yorkshire#that honestly takes inspiration from every yorkshire town i’ve lived in (but mostly my hometown)#a town just outside messina sicily which is OVERRUN by werewolves who run a b&b/restaurant/cantina there and have a monopoly on the tourist#trade in the town#and i also have a forgotten scandinavian island nation whose people still worship the old norse gods#sometimes you’ve just gotta be like. i don’t want to hear shit about how i was ‘inaccurate’ when i tried to write about london#so instead i’m going to make up my own setting and it can work exactly how i want it to#sometimes you have to make a town where no one would ever live and add idiots to it#personal
