Spamton's Birthday - OneShot.

It was another normal morning in Cyber City.

At least it was for Spamton.

Another day looking through the trash for new stuff to eat, trying to fix an old cungadero, and trying to avoid the thousands of guards and bird butlers in Queen’s mansion to get to NEO.

Classic.

So today, deciding that he would try to sneak again into the monarch’s house, sprinted towards there.

He took some turns now and then, checking the trash cans outside the shops nearby for something good. It took him almost half a day to get to the mansion.

His stomach was still empty.

He didn’t have much luck today, at least when it came to food.

But he did find a pair of old, almost rusty parts from an old cungadero, so that was still a win.

It was past twelve (he assumed) when in the distance, he saw the eccentric mansion in all its glory.

A smile was drawn on his face, and his steps became more silent… At least as silent as the steps can be of someone who’s made of hard plastic.

The small maice squealed as he made his way towards the back, running to hide between concrete cracks.

Usually, there’ll be more maice because there was more food. More food discarded from one of the best restaurants in the city.

It was all a luxury he could barely afford, usually all the small animals ate everything when he got there.

The puppet got near the back door of the Colour Café, exhausted and slightly dizzy.

He was hungry.

Instead of running to hide and wait until rush hour to try and slink between the sea of people, he threw himself instantly to the big metal trash box outside the café. Which always had a bit of a more pleasant smell than any other trash in these parts.

“OF C0URS3; THEY RE ALWAYZ [little perfect princesses]” – Spamton mumbled to himself, remembering the army of attractive birds that worked for the local.

While he checked the bags and pulled them open with his crude fingers, he heard a door open in a long creak, which made him instantly freeze.

The box was opened.

Whoever it might be, they’re probably here to take out the trash.

Please, let it not be Swatch, please let it not be Swatch, please let it not be-

“Spamton?”

When he heard his name, he forced a smile to his face and slowly turned back, seeing how the head butler themselves were looming over him.

His ex.

“H-H3Y; [hot shot!], WH4T R YU0 DOING [[All alone on a late night?]]” – The smaller one stuttered.

Seeing Swatch’s expression, he quickly identified that they were more perplexed rather than angered, or annoyed.

“I thought I’d never see you again. It has been a couple of weeks.” They spoke in a soft voice. Their accent made Spamton blush slightly. ‘Of course, their attractive nature never failed to affect me’, he cursed himself.

“W-WELL,, ONE (1) C4N;T [[I am not throwing away my shot!]] IF IT;;S NE3DED “ – Spamton was more nervous than usual. He had nowhere to run, Swatch could simply take him in their strong arms, stop him, and maybe he could catch a glance to those oh-so expressive eyes behind their bicoloured glasses, and… CONCENTRATE, SPAMTON. FOR FUCK’S SAKE.

“I… See…” Swatch adverted their beak, seemingly a bit restrained. “Well, technically, you’re not in the mansion yet, it’s not my duty to shoo you out of here.” – They looked back at the smaller, opening space for him to get out of the trash.

“0H, T THANKZ, [[twitter]];” – Spamton jumped out of the box, almost tripping while doing so.

The younger nodded and closed the metal box after depositing the trash inside.

Spamton thought it would be rude to run away while his ex was still there, so he stood by their side awkwardly.

“So…” – The bird played with their fingers before turning to the puppet. “Were you planning on infiltrating into the mansion again?” – Their serene voice changing into a more casual and curious mood.

“TH4T IS… [That is classified information.].” – For once, Spamton agreed with his pitiful tic.

Swatch stayed quiet for a bit before they kept questioning the other. – “Were you hungry?” – They added in an almost sweet tone.

Before he could open his mouth, his stomach talked (or, well, growled) for him, confirming what the taller just had said. They giggled quietly, and Spamton felt his face grow hotter.

“Y-YE4H, [[maybe yes, maybe no]];; IT’S NONE OF YU0R [business men near you!]!!” – He huffed, crossing his arms in a futile attempt to get rid of the embarrassment.

“Oh, well…” The butler checked their clock on their wrist, and their posture changed into a bit more tensed one. However, it wasn’t something bad, Spamton figured. He had known Swatch for enough years to recognize perfectly all their little details. He would never forget them.

“S-Spamton?” – Swatch’s accent pulled him suddenly out of his thoughts, he hadn’t noticed he zoned out for a moment there. – “Are you quite alright? Did you listen to what I said?”

He denied with his head.

“Today’s… May third.” He announced in a more calmed matter.

Now it was Spamton’s turn to tense up.

He didn’t even notice it was his own birthday.

“TH4T’5 A… [[Thank you for the surprise party!]]…” – The smile portrayed in his plastic face was brought down, the adrenaline from before finally lowering. – “IT’S N0T LIKE I C4N [party!] [[let’s eat!!]].”

“It doesn’t have to be that way.” Swatch blurted out. Spamton tilted his head a little, confused. “W-What I’m trying to say is that,” they hawked before they kept talking – “it has been years since we made a party for your birthday. Maybe we could… Do something?” They sounded more insecure about it than they intended to be.

Wow. That was unproper from the head butler. It was really weird to think they’d like to risk their job for a celebration of an already forgotten celebrity. Swatch appeared to notice the doubt on the ex-salesman’s face.

“Of course that, if you don’t agree with it, I’ll leave you be.” – They hurried to add. – “I just… Thought it’d be good. One last time.” – They murmured in an almost melancholic matter.

Spamton wasn’t expecting to have that type of conversation with Swatch again. Never again. Can it be…?

“[[are you slash srs or slash jay?]]”

The butler just nodded.

Spamton blinked a couple of times, trying to assimilate the tempting offer the other had made to him.

“I D0N’T HAVE [[KROMER]] TO [Need payment for your last month of rent?]. “ – He warned. Swatch nodded again. Spamton sighed for the first time in the day, a small sparkle of hope turning on his deepest insides. – “[[It’s alright. It’s okay.]]. WH4T AR3 YOU PLANNING TO D0?”.

Spamton swore he’d seen a small glimmer behind Swatch’s glasses.

“Come back here at 10pm. We’re closing earlier today, Queen wants us to slice melons in barrels again. I could excuse myself from the activity if I ask her early.” Swatch’s original formal posture came back. “Be punctual, please.” – He bowed slightly to the other, and making a 180° turn, they went back to their café.

The puppet stood frozen for a moment, in utter shock for the recent exchange he had just had with his ex. He wasn’t expecting for something like that to happen today. Hell, he just wanted to get to NEO, and now he had an extra appointment to attend to. He sighed for the second time on the day, and his stomach protested again, claiming for food. He patted himself and went back to the box of trash, hoping for Swatch to have left something good.

[ . . . ]

It was what you’d call “night”, a light drizzle pinching his face.

He’d been anxious all day, barely managing to eat something.

Thanks to an old clock he found in one of the cans, he kept consciousness about the time. There were 10 minutes left.

Was he supposed to take something for Swatch? It was his birthday, but the butler was having the kindness towards himself that he hadn’t seen in more than 15 years.

He kept thinking it was unproper of them. But it wasn’t like he’d waste his (probably) last chance to have a civil conversation with the younger, unlike when he was being thrown out of the mansion. He wasn’t sure it’d become a common thing like when they were in their 20’s, but it was worth to have a bit of expectations.

He shook the rainwater out of his already moist suit and waited near the trash can. The barely used perfume he found was overwhelming, but it’d work so Swatch wouldn’t frown when they notice how Spamton smelled like a stray wet tasque.

After the minutes that felt like an eternity, Swatch came out. They instantly looked for Spamton with the gaze, and a small smile of relief was drawn on their face when they saw him.

“I’m glad you came.” – They admitted in a soft voice. – “I’ve prepared a couple of things for the occasion. Now…” – In a fluid gesture, they positioned themselves to the side of the back door of the café, signaling the other to come inside. – “Shall we?”

Spamton clutched his coat, and with insecure steps, he entered the local.

The lights were dimmed, giving a bit of ambience to the place.

The puppet looked around. It hadn’t changed a lot since the last time he was there.

The salmon-coloured tablecloths were as clean as always, and in the bar, all the bottles were arranged in a beautiful rainbow gradient. Everything was clean as always. Deep inside, he felt bad invading such a dirt-free space.

“The café is always full at this hour. It’s nice seeing it unoccupied from time to time.” – Swatch interrupted Spamton’s thoughts, their voice sweet and silky. The younger one leaned to Spamton, almost getting to his eye height. – “Come. The first gift will become cold if we stay here longer.” – They extended their wing to their guest, who took it slowly. His heartbeat accelerating at contact.

Swatch guided him behind the bar, and entered a private room, supposedly used to store new bottles of acids for the beverages.

It was empty, the only things left behind were what he assumed was a bathtub, lots of soaps, perfumes and lotions, candles with soft scents of various wildflowers, and a miscellany of different sized towels.

Spamton widened his eyes.

“This may come out as rude, but…” – The bird monster started – “I’m afraid it has been a while since the last time you took an appropriate bath. I remember how thorough you were with your self-care during the golden era.” – They nudged Spamton with the tips of their wings, encouraging him to get closer to the lukewarm water. “I thought it’d be a nice gift.”

The smaller stopped to look back on his shoulder, and in Swatch’s expression, he only saw sincere kindness and worry. He felt his eyes water a bit.

“Now I’ll give you the privacy you’ll need to clean yourself comfortably. If you require something, you just need to call me. I’ll be outside.” – They gifted him a smile and proceeded to go out. But before they could make it, a slightly shaky voice stopped them.

“SW4TCH…” The younger looked back to him, curious. Spamton gave them back a smile. “Thank you.” He spoke. No glitches or tics. Swatch felt relieved.

Being alone now, Spamton wasted no time and undressed himself, quickly getting into the warm water.

He felt it had been centuries since he felt like that.

He sighed for the third time in the day. But this time it was out of happiness.

The puppet observed how the grease of his hair melted down with the water, his worries doing so momentarily. He felt lighter once he got off all the rind that surrounded his hair.

The shampoo smelled like the always-homely smell his ex had.

And without meaning to, Spamton was crying real tears. After so long of not feeling true emotions.

This wasn’t meant to last forever.

This wasn’t his life from now on.

Nevertheless, he was grateful for the opportunity to be treated as a living being one last time. More than a pest or a bother.

When he finished, he took a big towel and dried his now silver rooted hair and finished off with his body.

Before he could take and wear his old clothing, he heard a subtle knock on the door.

“Spamton?” – The known voice of the head butler called him. – “I’m sorry to interrupt, but I have something else to give you before you come out. It’s important.” – The Addison secured the towel around him and slowly opened the door. In front of him he saw a Swatch with what it looked like a square of cloth wrapped with ref gift paper.

It had a gorgeous golden bow on top. “Here. Enter to change and give me your old suit.” It was more of an order rather than a question, but they kept their nice tone.

“TH4NK YU0, [[pretty bird]].” – Spamton felt a bit bashful about the pet name, but still took the gift inside.

When he ripped the paper off, one of his hands flew instantly to his opened mouth. He couldn’t believe what he saw.

It looked like a new suit, recently sewn. It was really similar to the one he had before, but inside it had red fabric. Fabric he’d recognize everywhere. Fabric that belonged to his old red suit, when he was a big shot.

His eyes watered up again, and with delicacy he unfolded the coat in front of him.

It appeared to have been sewn two suits into one.

Under the coat there was a white turtleneck, and some pants, white too.

‘Oh damnit, this is going to get dirty so quickly’ Spamton thought with a hint of sadness.

“I found your suit in your old dorm. I noticed we never gave you the chance to take your stuff back before…” – Swatch trailed off. – “I wanted to give it to you as soon as I could, but then we got more and more away from each other, and…” – The puppet could hear how the so serene voice of the bird monster broke slowly. He didn’t know they felt this way.

Spamton fastened his suit around him and combed down his hair with his hand as much as he could.

He came out and saw the head butler still standing in front of the door, bowed down. When they saw their guest though, straightened up fast and offered him their hand again.

This time without thinking about it, he took it, and Swatch guided him to one of the chairs in front of the bar.

A wave of nostalgia surfaced on him while he analyzed his surroundings.

This was just the way they spent nights together. Drinking battery acid and chatting until Spamton couldn’t keep his eyes open.

“SW4TCH…” – Spamton started, his voice wavering. – “TH1S…” – When he turned his attention back to the other, he noticed quickly that in front of him there were various dishes. SpaghettiCode, ButlerJuice and a slice of battery acid pie with a small white candle on top. Spamton gasped.

“Happy birthday, Spamton G. Spamton.” – Swatch finally congratulated him. Spamton looked at him astonished.

“I… [I’m out of breath. I’m drowning.]. I-I DON’T KNOW H0W [[What can I say except]]- [Thank you for your service.].” – He stopped his own tic, trying to avoid saying something stupid. – “TH1S MEANS S0 MUCH 4 [[Me/myself/I]].”

The butler finally took off their glasses, their olive-like eyes shining with intensity. – “It’s the least I can do for you.”

Their expression changed slowly into one of worry, a small teardrop sliding one behind another on their beak, ending up crying in silence. It was the second time he’d seen the younger’s posture break down in front of him. Spamton wanted to comfort them, but it maybe wasn’t the best idea for now. As much as he likes the idea of going back to what they had, he couldn’t assume anything.

“M-My apologies. This isn’t the best attitude in your birthday, and I-…”

“IT’S NOT YOUR FAULT.” – Spamton smiled to him. – “DON’T BLAME YOURSELF.” – For the first time in a long time, he managed to talk without triggering a tic. The puppet inhaled a bit before talking, focusing on keeping that strike. – “I KNOW… YOU… WERE ONLY… FOLLOWING ORDERS.” – He extended his small hand to the other, and now it was Swatch’s turn to hold it.

“I’m sorry you can’t stay.” – They spoke between soft sobs. – “This is already risking my job a lot, and you know… I can’t allow myself to do that.” - The bird looked away, ashamed. Spamton squeezed their wing in an attempt of comfort. – “I’m sorry.” – They finally said.

“I KNOW IT TOOK YOU A LOT TO DO THIS.” – Spamton whispered and nudged them in encouragement. – “YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO, BUT YOU DID IT ANYWAY.” – Honestly, even he was surprised of how long he spoke without glitching in the attempt. – “I APPRECIATE THAT.”

Swatch sniffled, and the smile came back to their face. – “I’ve always adored that understanding part of yours.” – Spamton managed to see how a small flush formed on the other’s face. He smiled back. – “Come on, finish your dinner. Your special day will be over soon.”

While Spamton finished, they had a little chat.

They talked about how life had been in the mansion, and how he coped to live in the streets. They both even took the liberty to joke about both matters.

But when the pie piece came, Swatch turned on the candle and turned off the lights.

The only light source being the light the pie reflected of the small fire.

“Happy birthday to you…” – The butler started singing softly. His voice was so dulcet, it provoked a knot on Spamton’s chest. – “Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Spammy…” – The Addison blushed at the nickname. The same one they had used on him when they were a couple. – “Happy birthday to you.” – They finished, giving him a lovely smile. – “Go on, make a wish.” – They cheered the birthday boy. He nodded, and after thinking about it for a few seconds, he blew out the candle.

“What did you wish for?” – Swatch asked gingerly.

“IF I T0LD YOU ; THE WISH WON;T [Message was failed to be sent.].” – He teased them and proceeded to eat the pie, and after a lot of insisting to Swatch, they ended up eating too.

That’s how the night end, with a warmth on the heart.

Swatch decided to say goodbye to Spamton one last time before he left.

“…I’m going to miss you.” – They admitted.

“D0N T WORRY AB0T ME:; [[pretty bird]]. [I have a shiv and I’m not afraid to use it!]” – He joked as he stood on the doorframe. – “…I;M G0NN4 [Scared you’ll miss the latest trends?] T0O.”

Swatch, with a smile on their face, bowed down to him and nuzzled against Spamton’s cheek. The puppet’s heartbeat quickened. With watery eyes, he nuzzled them back.

“Goodbye, Spamton. I hope the next time we see each other, it won’t have to be when I kick you out of the mansion.” – They said with a melancholic smile.

“I PR0MIS3 YU0 THAT IT W1LL N0T B LIK3 TH4T, [[twitter]].” – He nuzzled one last time and walked away into the alleyway’s darkness.

And just as Spamton promised, it didn’t happen like that.

Neither when he sneaked into the mansion with the lightners’ help.

Neither when he became Spamton NEO.

Neither when he became their strength.

In fact, they never saw him again.

But at least Spamton left happily, knowing that his wish was made true.

a continuation of yesterday’s ask-

hiiii i know i haz been lurk 🐮 Anoon for a good bitz but I haz an idea fro DadBoyHalo and Dadza(sepretz courze!!) havingz to take care of their very chaos childrenz(DadBoyHalo wif Sapnap + reader, Dadza with SBI + reader) ówò?

i am referring to the samsung refrigerator as sam bc i have no clue what to address her as (ﾟωﾟ；)

phil did not expect this when he decided to have kids. in the beginning, he was only planning on the one. wilbur was the sweetest kid ever when he was born. never caused any trouble, was peaceful. hell, the kid seemed like he would rather play music 24/7 before yelling at a single person. then again, his wife was always too caring.

when he traveled to the nether with sam, taking his son with him for the first time, he didn’t expect to acquire another kid. they were walking along an old path that had been made year before, when suddenly wilbur started shouting, pointing at a small pink figure.

the baby piglin was surrounded by bigger, larger piglins. they were trying to take his gold as he fearfully warded them off. sam, with her large heart, urged phil to go save the child as she protected wilbur. through a long fight with grunts and yells, he had saved the kid.

“hello, young one. are you alright?” the piglin regarded him suspiciously, not knowing if he would hurt him. phil, from the corner of his eye, saw the kid eyeing the gold on the ground. “you want your shit back, mate?” phil turned around and quickly picked up the goods. “here you go, kid.” and from there, he had suddenly acquired another ward.

within the next few years, tensions rose. the young piglin, who phil had named technoblade, was slowly learning english. he wanted to learn how to fight, to protect himself and not end up in a situation like the one phil had saved him from. sam did not approved of this, ever the passive refrigerator. phil and sam argued nearly all the time. wilbur and techno began spending more time together, out of the house.

“techno, it's not your fault. you know that right?” wilbur was walking with techno, his guitar on his back. the house was no longer a good place to hangout, so they walked into town.

“well of course its not, wil. i know that, at the very least. i’m just trying to protect myself, the same as phil does. in the future i could even win competitions, make us some extra money.” the two boys were walking and talking, when suddenly they ran into a loud blonde kid who was with someone else they couldn’t really see.

“hey! watch where you’re going, kid!” wilbur yelled a the shorter blonde, who knocked him over.

“oh, fuck off, will you? i didn’t mean to, you don’t have to be a prick about it.” wilbur looked flabergasted at this, a kid much younger than him having this type of mouth?

“hey! do not fucking speak to me that way, do you understand?” wilbur pointed at the two kids, looking like a so-called ‘karen’ in the internet compilations.

“oh come on, dude, you just swore and you look only a few years older than me! don’t be a fucking hypocrite.” you looked sternly at the brown-haired male, watching his mouth open and close, like a fish.

“wilbur, you know we both swore at that age. give them a break, will ya?” techno was smirking at the two of you, knowing he was pissing wilbur off.

“ugh, whatever techno. fuck off, mate.”

the two boys continued walking into town, done with the conversation. but your blonde friend, apparently, may not have been. “c’mon! let’s follow them!”

“uhh, why tommy? it’ll bring us nothing but trouble.” you were confused at what tommy was getting at, but you knew it was nothing good.

“and? trouble is my middle name, obviously.” he grabbed you hand and began dragging you in the direction the boys went.

when you arrived in town center, wilbur was seen talking to a shorter girl, while the piglin was arguing with a figure wearing green. tommy turned to you, “i’ll go talk to the cool one, you can go talk to the cunt who berated us for swearing.” knowing that once tommy made a decision he wouldn’t change his mind, you gave in.

walking over slowly, you noticed when you caught the boy’s attention. he looked over to you and his face darkened. “not you again… what do you want?”

“who’s this?” the girl he was talking to you looked over to you. you smiled at her and told her your name. “that’s a nice name. i’m niki.”

the two of you shook hands and she moved over for you to sit down. wilbur, begrudgingly, allowed you to sit and chat with them. for about three hours, you all sat talking. after a bit of pleading, wilbur had pulled out his guitar and was playing you a song. that was, until tommy ran over with techno as they were being chased a boy with a smiling mask, a boy with a white headband, and one with strange glasses.

“techno! what the fuck did you do now!?” wilbur stood up and began yelling at the piglin.

instead of a response, he was met with tommy screaming, “STOP CHASING ME, YOU FUCKIN’ BITCH! THIS IS CHILD ABUSE, I AM A MINOR!!! A MINOR!!”

“god fucking damnit, tech!” wilbur jumped up and dragged you with him. now all three of you were running from the boys.

once you had arrived in the forest clearing, wilbur was immediately on technoblade and tommy’s asses about what had happened.

“what. did. you. do.” wilbur was staring at them, his hands on his hips.

techno tried to explain, before tommy cut in “wilbur, i have done nothing. i was simply being a respectful citizen-”

“those terrible cunts were being terrible bitches to us, wilbur! they were threatening the blade here, saying we couldn't fight. but i showed them!” tommy seemed incredibly proud of himself.

“techno, what did this demon child do?” wilbur was staring at nothing, looking dead inside.

“i am now participating in a duel with dream tomorrow, at 4:20 P.M.” wilbur looked extremely pale at this, like he was begging god for mercy.

the four of you walked back to phil’s house. wilbur felt too guilty to leave you guys in town, especially when tommy had gotten into a fight with dream.

when you arrived at the house, phil immediately pulled you in, seeing that you guys were covered in cuts and bruises. when you went in, sam was nowhere to be seen.

“what the hell happened? why are there two very dirty children with you and why is techno smirking like that?”

after an explanation from the two of, phil began tending to your wounds. “wilbur, techno, go clear out the guest room for these two. we’ll talk more tonight. once you and tommy were nicely bandaged and clean, you were sent to the guest bedroom.

“you think we’ll be safe here, tommy?” you turned over to look at your friend who was in the bed across from yours. for years, you had been living on the streets, surviving off the bread the nice lady would provide you with.

“of course we will. we’re big men, you know that. besides, did you see techno over there? we’ll be just fine.”

“thanks tommy. love you, mate.” you smiled at tommy.

“night. love you too, big man."

in the morning, at the duel between technoblade and dream, it was suspenseful. even when you felt like he would lose hope, techno pulled through. even if sam had left and and was now in the dump, phil knew it would be okay. he acquired to new kids and would make sure they had a better life than the one they had before.

I'm in need of help from my Tumblr Family!

So I have to make some big decisions and it would mean the world to me if the people who have gotten me through so much these last few years help me pick out stuff 🥰 Namely the carpet, paint, and tile that will be put down in my home after we get the walls up and because I know everyone has different taste in this kinda stuff I narrowed it down to the few that will work inside the house

First up is the Sheet Vinyl

(sorry these are much darker then the pictures look)

#1 The darker set

Natural Paver - a dark gray with black accents and light gray grout that really makes it pop out. I picked this due to the realistic stone look just captured my eyes and would look great for the bathroom (Going to be Mermaid/Ocean/Sea Turtle themed)

Scorched Walnut Gray - a beautiful deep gray with lighter grays blending into the wood like look. It not only looks like real wood but feels like it too

Personally this set was my favorite just for the simple fact that I love dark colors; it relaxes me, but these are bright enough in the small areas to lighten up the room and give it character. Big plus is its thick enough to give just a bit of cushion to the wood floors

#2 The *can work in either area* set

Coffee Diagonal - you really can not see the detail well in the light but it is a beautiful stone look blended with a few colors that bring it out nicely and given my kitchen has that *coffee shop* air thankz to Donnie so it would add to the room. But I say this could work in the bathroom because - it kinda looks a bit like sand

Light Walnut - even though the name suggests a lighter color this actually looks like a darker Walnut to me except for that one little line you can see in the photo. This one look like real wood and it does have the smoother texture

[There is one downside to these two 😭] My mom has the same/similar Diagonal stone tile in her kitchen and although both are thicker then hers meaning it will be stronger both feel a bit brittle to me, my son is in a wheel chair and she's in a scooter her floors are torn up only after two years from the wheels of her cart. Both of the tiles are harder and not as flexible and the ones in #1 so I really have to wonder and worry about not only them breaking if my daughter trips or is playing but tearing if his equipment gets drug across them. OKAY WOW I just started reading a lets play of Tales of Graces and HOLY SHIT I love Sophia! I think I was amoung the majority of people who got umm.. Really Put Off by her character design prior to actually learning more about the game. Cos seriously, prelease stuff was like a fuckin minefield of ‘loli’ trope red flags, it looked like she was gonna somehow be pushed into a romance route with the protagonist despite being 14. And her design is just kinda boring and doesnt really say anything about her ACTUAL plot role and personality which were HOLY SHIT so unexpected and amazing and life affirming and jesus christ she is already my favourite tales character in all of history and I’m barely two hours into the damn game!! seriously I had to go look up spoils just to be ABSOLUTELY SURE I wasnt gonna be surprised with creepy fanservice of a young child, like in some of the older goddamn games in this series, and instead i found FUCKING AMAZING EVERYTHING FOREVER and like.. ACTIVE SUBVERSION OF LOLI TROPES but lol i cant really talk about it without kinda spoilering?? So UMM YEAH rest of my thoughts under the cut:

okay seriously its LITERALLY THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT WE ALL EXPECTED, HOLY FUCK nobody had ANY CLUE before the game came out that she’d be introduced as the twice-your-age figure to the protagonist instead of the other way around! getting to play a flashback prologue of everyone as kids was a really unique awesome feature that I wish we could get in other tales games its SO COOL to see the design and personality changes for everyone between their flashback selves and the ones you actually play as later on plus its a playable flashback! very short section of getting to see the kiddos actually have unique battle animations even! also it is REALLY EMOTIONALLY DESTRUCTIVE HOLY SHIT it explains everything about everyone’s personality forever why did these poor children have to suffer AAAAA

so umm yeah ANYWAY BACK ON TOPIC Sophie is introduced as this mysterious older teen while everyone is tiny babies, and takes on a kind of simultaneous big sis lil sis role cos of her amnesia and unfamiliarity with the world and like THANK YOU we dont get any weird fetishization of that as a concept! (look up the ‘born sexy yesterday’ trope for how this kind of plot tends to go down... yikes...) And like, even tho she’s comically oblivious about basic emotion concepts and stuff, she’s also A MASSIVE BADASS who’d have thought that such a cliche pinky pretty loli design would have a stoic badass superweapon personality??? THANK YOU. I feel so bad for assuming things, but seriously THANK YOU for being like THE ONE GAME where that kind of character appearance isnt given just One Same Plot Again And Again And It Is Gross and seriously man I WILL NOT STOP BEING HAPPY THAT THERE IS NO LOLICON HERE HOLY FUCKIN SHIT (well.. except some of her dlc costumes seem to be the actual lolicon characters from earlier games, which is Annoying.) but yeah seriously she’s fuckin like CONSTANTLY PUNCHING DOWN DOORS AND SHIT and I’M LOVE HER and like her earliest establishing moment is her oblivious of human culture norms actually leading to her being like.. the wise one in the conversation her cutting off asbel’s ‘wah but I should be the one protecting you cos I’m a boy, even though you’re like eight years older than me and i can barely lift my sword’ and her making this declaration of protection to him is the moment that shapes her entire character and becomes like the emotional core of the whole plot and she gets THE MOST BADASS scene of (seemingly) sacrificing herself to save his life, ending this cute kiddie flashback on a super somber note and then Asbel dedicates his goddamn life to becoming a knight in her memory after she fuckin SUPLEXED A GODDAMN DRAGON WOLF THING WITH ITS CLAW STABBED THROUGH HER STOMACH and just... I REALLY LOVE SOPHIE!!! seriously kid asbel literally said ‘i’m embarassed to be protected by you cos you’re a girl’, like HOLY SHIT DUDE and this is ACTUALLY SHOWN AS WRONG and he CHARACTER DEVELOPS OUT OF IT and HER PROTECTING HIM IS LIKE THE WHOLE FUCKIN GAME and just THANK YOU seriously tales of beseria had a bunch of weird sexism issues despite being the most recent game, its so annoying how the series has such inconsistant quality on this stuff, so im just REALLLLLLL FUCKIN GLAD to see this, thankz

I'm looking for advice...and hopefully someone to tell me that I'm not screwed. My boss graciously offered to find group insurance for all of her employees and she is willing to pay 50% of the premiums.
