Considering that you're the most high-profile Pirates of the Caribbean fan on this site, I would love to hear your ranking of the movies.
stopppp you're making me blussshhh ok my ranking is literally just just the order the films were released lmao
curse of the black pearl. the og. script is watertight. pacing and flow of it are really just flawless. it's got a wonderful classic storytelling arc, they had plenty of time to cook.
dead man's chest. starting to get quirky with it, and it's fun. WEIRD villainsss. kraken attack. leaning fully into pirate mythology. the world is OPENING UP. film is still fairly tight with some diversions. yess god.
at world's end. a little messy with a lot of moving pieces, but fuck, it's a fitting conclusion. beautiful. crying. TRAGEDY!!! parallels. foils. went out with a bang, there are some things i would've changed, but overall a good feast. [SEVERE DROP IN OPINION]
on stranger tides. very different. they've lost the plot. jack sparrow was never meant to be a main character, he's a trickster who played off the main love story (will and elizabeth) and if you want him to step into the main role, he needs to be capable of change or slip into a different archetype (reformed trickster). they kept him silly and drunk and it's getting tiresome. he can't carry the film. blackbeard is...alright. nothing hits the same as the sheer cosmic villainy of the calypso/davy jones romance that tore the world apart, but like, i won't hold that against them. the jack and angelica content is fun. love barb. fountain of youth is genuinely a great concept for a pirate movie.
dead men tell no tales. the new younger characters suck, let's be real. flat as cardboard. they retconned the lore of the trilogy to try to make all this work - not saying that lore is unbreakable and you can't ever do that - but what they put in its place isn't even interesting. young jack sparrow is bad. the mystic lady is bad. salazar is a step up from blackbeard, i love a ghost man. henry turner would never fucking join the royal navy. what's even happening here. thank you for coming to my ted talk.

WHY IZUKU BEING BORN QUIRKLESS IS A POINT FOR DAD FOR ONE:
Now, I'm not saying that I'm a die-hard DFO believer. I think that the theory is fun, and as a joke, I told my friend that if Izuku's father wasn't introduced by the end of the manga then DFO was officially canon by process of elimination. I'm just here to give my opinion about one of the main points people claim disproves DFO: Izuku being born quirkless. I would argue that Izuku being born quirkless, rather than having his quirk stolen as an infant, gives more credibility to the DFO theory.
For starters, when Izuku is told he in the first episode by the doctor (who is obviously AFO's doctor) that he's quirkless and is shown the x-ray of his foot, the doctor says a line (and I'm paraphrasing here) about how "it was virtually unheard of for a child born from two fourth-generation quirk users to be quirkless." The doctor could potentially be lying, but that is very unlikely. Even if he's evil, there's no reason for him to lie in that scenario: Quirks have been around for over a century by then, and lying about something that could be so easily disproven would be moronic.
So, with the belief that he was telling the truth, then it gives more insight into how quirks work. Quirks, in some way, shape, or form, are genetic. It's why quirk marriages were a thing. It's why Katsuki was the unbelievably lucky mix of both his parents' quirks, allowing him to make explosions. It's why Tsuyu's whole family looks froglike. Quirks aren't magically bestowed upon people like Celestia with visions: it's passed down genetically. Quirks are formed from a genetic mutation. This means that based on what the doctor said, quirks are a dominant allele.
To give a basic recap in biology: each gene has two alleles, one from each parent. Genes are what give you your appearance and more: whether your eyes are blue or brown. If you'll be blonde, brunette, or end up as a redhead. If you are more susceptible to different health problems like stroke or Alzheimer's. Alleles, on the other hand, can be either "dominant" or "recessive." "Dominant" alleles need only one parent to transfer it to the child for the trait to show up. "Recessive" alleles, on the other hand, require the allele from both parents to show up in the child. For example, curly hair is dominant over straight hair. If you use 'A' to describe the allele for curly hair and 'a' to describe the allele for straight hair, then it could be looked at as this:
AA= curly hair
Aa= curly hair (dominant allele present)
aa= straight hair (both recessive alleles present)
This means that quirks show up when through a dominant allele. The mention of "fourth-generation quirk users" implies that two quirked parents can give birth to a quirkless individual. That wouldn't be possible if quirks were a recessive allele. Therefore, if both of Izuku's parents were fourth-generation, then it is technically possible for Izuku's ancestors to have passed on the recessive quirklessness through the generations. And Izuku just happened to be the unlucky son of a gun who lost the genetic lottery.
But do you know what this means? It means that it doesn't disprove DFO in the slightest. In fact, having a parent who is a first-generation quirk user adds to the credibility. Canon shows that AFO was the first person who had a quirk. While Izuku is still unlucky on his mother's side of the genetic lottery, having a dad who automatically has a recessive allele makes his quirklessness much more likely.
In conclusion: Izuku being born quirkless just adds to the Dad for one theory. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Chuuya's reaction to Dazai getting hurt during the Lovecraft fight has always been so interesting to me...

Because it's the kind of worry you'd never expect from a character as gruff as Chuuya, who had displayed nothing but hostility towards Dazai so far. Usually, characters that are labelled as "angry" or "anger issues" (which Chuuya is much more complex than that but you get my point) act more as a tsundere type of way when the one they "don't care about" gets hurt. And show their care in very, very subtle ways (ex. their eyes widen, their mouth parts and closes again, etc) before putting up their front once more.
Chuuya, however, is open, and vocal about it. His worry is clear not only to us, but to Dazai himself, the one he shouldn't be displaying the concern to (as per the cliche). Shouldn't it be some sort of secret that Chuuya does care? Isn't that what skk's dynamic has been shaping up to be until now?
I'm telling you- the way my mind blanked when Chuuya just casually.... showed concern not once, but twice, was a sight to see.

Besides, the context makes it much more confusing, because Dazai isn't some rookie, and Chuuya knows that more than anybody. He was the youngest executive in Port Mafia's history, of course he can handle a hit or two. Of course he'd seen him handle a hit or two, sometimes without batting an eye.
Heck, Chuuya himself was hurling Dazai like a ragdoll in their reunion, which was their last meeting. And you could argue that he was going easy on him, but Dazai has mostly withstood the same damage (as far as I could see), and Chuuya was as bitter as ever.

So that kind of contradicts both what we knew of Chuuya so far, and how their dynamic was shaped to be. I mean, that just makes Chuuya a hypocrite, yeah? What makes him care now, all of a sudden? What makes him care at all?
Well, to me, this backasswards reaction implies one (or more) of the following:
- Dazai rarely got physically hurt during their partnership and thus this is an unexpected thing for him to see (during a mission).
- The four years of separation made Chuuya unsure of how much Dazai can withstand physically now. Also the fact that he isn't in the mafia anymore, aka fighting enemy organizations on the weekly, would naturally make Dazai lose his touch in a way, what prompts Chuuya's reaction.
- Dazai getting taken off guard took him off guard which led to panic. Especially since the situation was (momentarily) out of their depth. Seriously wtf even was Lovecraft?
- During the dungeon scene Dazai was an enemy, while in the Lovecraft fight he was as an ally. The difference might be significant to Chuuya.
- This has always been Chuuya's reaction to Dazai getting hurt regardless of the situation.
- "Only I can hurt him like that" ahh logic
- Asagiri was still experimenting with their dynamic and thus there are some inconsistencies.
This scenario didn't play out again (after their reunion) for me to exactly determine which one is more plausible, but it is 100% canon for Chuuya to shamelessly show his concern and run to Dazai to check on him before properly dealing with their opponent, which I find to be such an appealing layer to their dynamic, and a good spin on the type of character he gets stereotyped as.
Bonus: Dazai also becomes a softy when Chuuya's hurt, especially post corruption. Dead Apple alone displays that multiple times.

okay so first thing i notice is the colour, the very monochrome red/salmon pink (?) in the background, their skin, even the hair. and then the bright contrast of the white shirt, the green pieces and words (AND WHAT WORDS THEY ARE!), the gold necklace. sidenote but i am IN LOVEEE with the way you render the necklace, it looks so slinky and fun. like not what a necklace looks like but what a necklace should look like if that makes sense?? it looks better than a real necklace basically. the composition?? oh my god. the rectangle that can't perfectly contain them is so fun, and then the words at the top and bottom (like teeth!) with "promise" emphasised like that! the ANGLE of them!! charles' completely focused expression, his lashes (the most important part!!!), his pointy ear and his wispy hair. what little we can see of edwin and what it hints at, the perfect hair and the back of the ear (which is so difficult to draw, i'm jealous of you!!) and the line of his neck and uh. his fingers. still so put together. also the lighting is just beautiful, i adoreeeeee the highlights over charles' eyebrows and eyelids, the side of his face, his chest, that seem to come from the bright background! ✨

My favourite part of dot and bubble (besides ncuti’s performance in the last scene my god!!!) is that the episode kinda misleads you into thinking Lindy is so dismissive of the doctor and the disappearance of others because of the social media echo chamber she has isolated herself in. That she is scared to leave it and that she could be a better more empathetic person if given the chance to leave.
But then the final scene happens!
All of her actions, from putting Ricky in the firing line before her to lying about it to refusing the help of the doctor because of her thinly veiled racist beliefs, reveal that this refusal to acknowledge the reality around her to the point of putting people in danger and inevitably allowing the problem to become worse was a choice. She was not some innocent victim of media manipulation but had complete agency in her denial of the danger others were and just didn’t care about them.
The reveal is an important part of the episodes critique of social media echo chambers, I think. Their danger isn’t that they obscure information that challenges the users but that they allow people to choose not to be confronted with information that challenges their worldview or their behaviour. Which is an experience vital to developing critical thinking skills and being a compassionate, empathetic human being. But by removing the agency of people who choose not to break from their bubble, we also enable the insularity of these echo chambers!
God I love this episode so much <3_<3

I'm in love with the attention to detail! So here are the reasons Options 3 & 4 are the best choice.
There is a cheekiness to the position. It puts Near behind the handle bars but Mello is in control. It's something Mello would then be easily able to envision while riding his bike later.
Mello would be able to reach the ground easily but Near might have a hard time. As things intensify, his feet slip off the foot pegs. He's on his tiptoes, collapsed over the handle bars as Mello holds his hips.
Mello could lean into one of his elbows on the back seat if the bike is stable enough (let's suspend our disbelief and say it is) with his other hand on Near's hip. Then he could dig his heels into the ground/put a foot on a peg for better leverage.
I think it would be the most fun to draw

Okay okay I'm trying to write a smut scene involving Mello's motorbike and I would love some opinions on the positioning, because I'm very conflicted about the options here:

So I've established that Mello's bike is most likely a BMW K1200LT, courtesy of a surprisingly recent Answers.com forum post. One good thing about this is that the 2005 models and later all have a centre stand, which means it can stand upright on its own. The lower seat is also 30.3in high, and the average leg length for someone 5'7" is about 32in, so theoretically Mello should be able to put his feet on the ground for stability while straddling the seat.
With all this in mind, I've drawn up a few possible positions for Mello and Near with the bike parked & engine off (ignore how godawful my stick figures are lmfao; I only realised after the fact that my various indications of a second leg look like strangely positioned dicks).

Options 1 & 2 would have Near propped up on the passenger seat and Mello standing over the driver's seat. The first one would have Near bent over the seat, so either Mello holds him up or he puts his feet on the pegs if they're accessible. The second one is the front-facing alternative, which is probably more stable from Near's perspective. Mello might need to stand up on the foot pegs for proper access since the back seat looks quite high.

Options 3 & 4 have Near up against the handlebars. I'm not sure how much room there is on the driver's seat for Mello to fit in there behind him, but across every motorcycle forum I read, these were the most frequently recommended positions, so do with that information what you will???

Option 5 I drew directly into the manga panel, which was to have Mello in the front seat as if he were driving, and Near seated in his lap. This was the very first idea I had and the potential for "riding" metaphors is incredibly tempting; the only concern I have is whether Near can reach the back foot pegs from there to push himself up and down. It looks like the positioning could end up being somewhat awkward, and I have very little faith in his upper body strength alone (sorry Near 💔).

Option 6 is to have Mello bend Near over the bike. The height on Near's end might make this one tricky, but Mello could hold him up if the bike is stable enough.

the practical aspects of worldbuilding might seem needlessly granular if you’re just trying to make a cool setting for your story, but they make a huge difference!
It doesn’t all have to be conlangs and magic systems, either. Something as simple as a family tree/relationship web or a map of your setting can be really effective, whether you make that available to your audience or not. I remember when I was studying the ancient near east our teacher had us do a lot of comparison between written sources and geographical evidence. He made us learn the geology of the eastern mediterranean. I was completely baffled as to the relevance of the rock composition until he pointed out that it would affect the arability of the land. The position of mountains and valleys and plateaus determines things like the positions of roads, or access to fresh water, or what crops can be reliably farmed. He showed us how, by simply understanding the land, we could predict which areas would be fought over and why. Whoever controls this region controls the trade routes, whoever controls this region controls access to food, the people living here will eat different foods to the people living there. 
If deep diving into geography really isn’t your thing, a simpler way to go about it would be to use The Quiet Year’s system--name a few things any given community has in abundance, and a few things it needs but either doesn’t have or only has a limited supply. If one community has easy access to food and drink but little to no textiles, then they’ll probably want to trade with a community who can provide them with things like clothes and bedding. Now you can create a relationship between those two communities--do they like each other? Are they constantly trying to get one over on each other? Do they intermingle culturally and socially, or is their relationship purely business? Or maybe there’s just enough fabric to go around, but only the very rich can own more than one or two sets of clothing. Now it’s a mark of how wealthy a character is if they change clothes before dinner. Do the less wealthy resent them for the waste? Do those with extra clothes look down on those without? If the majority of your community only has the one set, does that change standards of modesty? Maybe people have to schedule isolated times and spaces to bathe and wash their clothes, or maybe wash day is a community event and everyone gets naked in the river. Maybe the very wealthy have different standards of modesty to the very poor, because they don’t have to contend with the same practicalities. 
I know I’ve gotten very detailed there, but I’m always fascinated by the way that a practical understanding of how your characters’ basic needs are met can inform a world. Without needing to invent a magic system or a religion or a language we can create a totally different cultural context that not only makes sense within the story, but makes your narrative stronger! You can use these factors to inform characters and relationships, and even to move the plot along if it needs a push. Pick one detail, then ask the first questions that come to your mind and find an answer to them. Maybe this gives you a broad sketch of the community, or maybe it plugs a plot hole. Either way, you understand your story better--and your audience will too, whether they realise it or not, because now your setting feels like a real space, and your characters feel like real people living in it. 
any magic worldbuilding where light is 'free' (does not require oil/candles/other material goods/etc) and people still live in completely medieval-style environments - or where this doesn't have a tremendous impact on architecture and lifestyle, bare minimum, is incomprehensible to me... access to light is like. So critical

Allow me to be super delulu here for a moment...
We know there's another 9-1-1 spinoff in the works. One city location we've heard is Vegas.
We know Vegas is only an hour away from LA by helicopter.
What if the "unforseen hurdle" for Buck and Tommy's relationship is Tommy getting a job offer in Vegas (hello backdoor pilot (lol) for the new spinoff) and it's not really a big deal for him because "it's only an hour away, Evan. I go, put in my 48, and come home. It's not like I'm moving and this isn't going to change anything."
But of course it is a big deal for Mr. Abandonment Issues. What if Tommy gets tired of commuting back and forth all the time? What if he just happens to like Vegas better and decides he wants to move after all?
And maybe that whole big discussion leads to something like "and if you moved in with me, the time away from each other wouldn't seem so bad."
As much as I think I'm totally in left field and it would suck to see Lou leave the main show (plus they've never carried over characters from the main to the spinoff before anyways), I would absolutely watch him on a spinoff (not that I'm not gonna watch it anyways, let's be real.)
Maybe some Vegas shenanigans is what Oliver meant when he said Buck was gonna have some fun and ludicrous moments. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Anyways, it's probably not that but it would make a good fic if anyone feels like it.
