(I know he wasn't in the show but he's my fave so I gotta ask) TFA Magnificus 👉👈 or TFA Perceptor if that's easier
You are taking to Scalpel’s number one fan. I will HAPPILY do characters not in the show. In fact for you I will do both!
First impression
[Magnificus] me, reading his almanac bio right after scalpel’s for the first time: so he is the son of that bug who I hope I don’t become deeply obsessed with
[Perceptor] WHATEVER HAPPENED TO ROBOT JONES!? I like his gay little glasses.
Impression now
[Magnificus] HE IS VERY COOL... Admittedly, he is a character I need to give more attention to!! Like Scalpel, I play favorites and of his children I have given Toxitron the most thought. 😔 But he already has a fun concept... being more interested in politics than science is hilarious. I need to finally draw him sometime!! I think there’s so much potential with him.
[Perceptor] LOVE THIS GUY. I think he’s especially neat in that you can explore his emotions in a more subtle way... He’s also not a character I’ve touched on a ton, but I like seeing how others have explored his character. Also he reminds me a little of Fi from Zelda and she’s a very important character to me so he gets bias for that.
Favorite moment
Magnificus doesn’t have Moments. 😔 In my HEART he does!!
Perceptor also hardly has moments, but I love in the Almanac where he talks about Wheeljack and he just lists off stastistics about how many times he’s injured himself and how much of his original body remains.
Idea for a story
Of course, I want to further explore Magnificus’ and Scalpel’s father-son relationship more... Featuring Oil Slick too because he’s also his dad.
I’m sorry these are all Scalpel related. I’ve always wanted to write about Scalpel’s days in the science guild and ESPECIALLY his one-sided rivalry with Perceptor who is just like... I don’t care. Can we please fire this guy?
Unpopular opinion
I don’t think there is such thing as an unpopular Magnificus opinion. Maybe this is for the better?
I don’t think Perceptor deleted ALL of his emotion and personality. I think it’s more meaningful if they still exist, but it’s about the SUBTLETIES!!
Favorite relationship
... Magnificus and his dads, Scalpel and Oil Slick. 😔 But I do think him and that little Ga’mede dude making an interesting pair too. He’s definitely on my mind for when I do my deeper Magnificus research. 👀
I LOOOVE PERCEPTOR/WHEELJACK!! MARRIED MEN!!! THE DYNAMIC THEY HAVE!!!! THE FLAVOR!!! OPPOSITES ATTRACT!!! They love each other, they’re like the good version of ScalpelSlick.
Favorite headcanon
MAGNIFICUS IS SCALPEL’S SON but that might as well be canon.
Perceptor trans and autistic...

I'll have you know anon (please don't take me too seriously this is joking) even if they DO look similar that's actually perfectly on par with TFA characters since the reuse character base designs to make new characters, (exm. See Bumblebee and Wasp, Blurr and Cheetor, Perceptor and Magnificus)
Hdkdhfkdh ya that makes sense

Spacewarp: at one point, the then naïve spacewarp acted as a scout in the decepticons but all her time alone on missions let her reflect and eventually she saw their bloodthirsty ways and went rogue. Traversing the spaceways, and later other realities, seeking adventure, and was soon joined by her close minicon friends. She eventually landed in the dimensional hub axiom nexus. After some time she eventually managed to get back to her own universe, though now saddled with a ragtag crew of “bad bots” from other realities.
Mini-cons: Foldspace, Boom Tube, Starburst and Jump Drive are spacewarps closest and oldest friends. Foldspace was her first mate for some time after she saved his life, and together they saved other three when they won their combined form in a high stakes game.
Blitzwing(G1): a former decepticon who turned on his comrades due to developing his own form of warriors honor, putting him at odds with his cohorts.
Slipstream(TFA): a skilled and sarcastic female clone of starscream who left her universe to escape the reality of her creation.
Waspinator(BW): the most luckless bot in the universe, he has been through a lot in his universe before being spit out into axiom nexus where spacewarp took pity on him. Despite his smaller size, he feels at home with the other lost bots of the crew.
Sky-Byte(RID): a poetic and good natured former predacon who abandoned his comrades in battle to remain happy on earth but eventually wound up in the nexus.
Demolishor(E): a grumpy decepticon who regained his mind and memories after his megatron died and had his original body restored in axiom nexus.
Snowcat(E): a hyper and jovial decepticon who chose to keep his new body and name despite not having had his mind tampered with.
Nightbird(?): originally a lifeless mechanical assassin, she later gain sentience and a mind of her own and became a wordless warrior.
Magnificus(TFA): a decepticon clone of an autobots scientist, he was considered a failure due to his preference for politics over science, but is no less intelligent.
Reflector(G1): decepticon spy made of three bodies and one mind, who was abandoned by his faction when they bolstered their ranks with stronger warriors.
Scrapheap(?): a rebellious young junkion who went rogue to seek adventure.
Others
Dispensor: a vending machine reformatted into a cybertronian on earth who stowed away and wanders the ship freely.
Sludge(SG): a murderous and psychotic evil dinobot who attempted to take over the ship when it left the nexus and is kept subdued in the brig.
Devcon: a rogue autobot bounty hunter and smuggler who has a friendship and possible romance with spacewarp.
Megatron: leader of the decepticons, after going rogue, spacewarp made the mistake of thwarting him and he intends to make her pay for the betrayal.

Does Magnificus Have a Spark?
Alternate title: There Are a Lot of Clones in TFA
Here’s a link to the original version of this post just in case I update anything later.
Older post on CNA and clones in TFA (I might have gotten better facts or changed my mind on a few things there since then, but most of the info’s still good)
Magnificus‘s tfwiki bio and an older post about him
This has been bugging me for the past week.
Now I have to make a list of all the known clones and bots given life by the AllSpark fragments in TFA and make notes on how they were formed. Enjoy, folks:
(Canon info is in regular text, speculation and headcanon is in italics.)
Clones
Magnificus: Result of Operation: Doppelgänger. The first known successful attempt at cloning in TFA canon. The actual first successful attempt at cloning.
CNA Donor: Perceptor
Cloner: Scalpel
CNA Collector: Shockwave
Cloned by order of: Megatron
Protoform/body origin: Stolen protoforms in possession of Decepticons
Spark/AllSpark fragment origin: unknown; Not AllSpark fragments (did not yet exist). The AllSpark was missing and Vector Sigma was on Cybertron, so it is unclear how the Decepticons brought Magnificus to life. It is possible that when Lockdown stole the blank protoforms, he also took a spark (or sparks) from Vector Sigma. Whether taking and transporting bodiless sparks is possible in TFA is unknown.
Time of cloning: after Blackarachnia joined the Decepticons and after Shockwave infiltrated the Autobots (~a thousand stellar cycles ago), but before Megatron crashed to Earth
Starscream’s Clones: “Starscream created the clones in a multi-step process. First mechanical shells based on Starscream's design were infused with protoforms stolen from Master Yoketron's dojo. Since those protoforms were sparkless, a fragment Starscream's AllSpark fragment was inserted into their chassis to give them life.” This seems to imply that Starscream’s AllSpark fragments were used as substitutes for sparks for each clone. As Starscream’s fragment was substituting for his own spark, it must have had his CNA encoded into it. The CNA can be taken/copied from the fragment, as the Autobots do in First (and Second) in Flight (Arrival comic). However Starscream can also simply take shards from his own fragment already encoded with his CNA and use them directly in the clones, which he does.
Clone #2716057 and Clone #3370318: Possession of sparks unconfirmed, and unlikely (Starscream did not have a spark when he made them, and their sparkchambers were seen to have bombs in them).
CNA Donor: Starscream
Cloner: Starscream
CNA Collector: N/A (CNA already in fragments used)
Cloned by order of: Starscream
Protoform/body origin: Stolen protoforms in possession of Decepticons, prepared Starscream body shells
Spark/AllSpark fragment origin: fragments in possession of Starscream (presumably broken from the one in his head that was keeping him alive despite the loss of his spark)
Time of cloning: After ep19 Mission Accomplished and First (and Second) in Flight (Arrival comic), before ep23 A Fistful of Energon
Sunstorm, Skywarp, Slipstream, Thundercracker, and Ramjet:
CNA Donor: Starscream
Cloner: Starscream
CNA Collector: N/A (CNA already in fragments used)
Cloned by order of: Starscream
Protoform/body origin: Stolen protoforms in possession of Decepticons, prepared Starscream body shells
Spark/AllSpark fragment origin: fragments in possession of Starscream (presumably broken from the one in his head that was keeping him alive despite the loss of his spark)
Time of cloning: ep28 A Bridge Too Close, Part I
Dirge and Thrust: It is unclear whether the fragments they received were directly from Starscream’s or if they were blank fragments later encoded with separately acquired Starscream CNA, but the end result is the same.
CNA Donor: Starscream
Cloner: Swindle, using Starscream’s cloning equipment, which he stole
CNA Collector: Swindle (acquired CNA from a Starscream clone)
Cloned by order of: Swindle
Protoform/body origin: Starscream shells found with Starscream’s equipment. Stolen protoforms in possession of Decepticons (”A while back I picked up a brace of protoforms from an old business associate.”--Swindle, The Complete AllSpark Amanac)
Spark/AllSpark fragment origin: fragments in possession of Swindle, possibly previously in possession of Starscream
Time of cloning: After ep39 Decepticon Air, possibly after Season Three.
Lugnut Supremes (3):
CNA Donor: Omega Supreme (Lugnut gave them their activation codes, influencing their design and personality)
Cloner: Starscream & Shockwave
CNA Collector: N/A. The protoforms seem to simply scan Omega Supreme. How they did this instinctively/automatically is unclear. The AllSpark fragments given them were found in Omega Supreme’s spark chamber, so it is possible that the spark fragments acquired his CNA by a sort of osmosis. They scanned him before they were given the fragments, however, so it is still unclear how or why they did that.
Cloned by order of: Megatron
Protoform/body origin: Stolen protoforms in possession of Decepticons, body shells formed from Nemesis remains
Spark/AllSpark fragment origin: fragments in possession of Omega Supreme in his spark chamber, collected by Autobots on Earth. Presence of sparks unclear and unconfirmed, possibly implied by Starscream (the most knowledgeable about cloning and also a known liar, so take his word with a grain of salt). Sparkchambers shown to have bombs in them.
Time of cloning: Season Three
Skipjack: Joined Constructicons.
CNA Donor: Erector
Cloner: Lockdown and/or Dirt Boss
CNA Collector: Lockdown
Cloned by order of: Dirt Boss
Protoform/body origin: Unknown; No formal protoform; formed from existing Earth vehicle as other Construticons were.
Spark/AllSpark fragment origin: fragment in possession of Dirt Boss
Time of cloning: After Season Three
Toxitron: Failed clone of Optimus Prime. Works with Team Stunticon.
CNA Donor: Optimus Prime
Cloner: Scalpel & Oil Slick
CNA Collector: unknown; Lockdown, while he had Optimus Prime captured, likely suspecting he would be able to make a profit on it later; he’s a known opportunist.
Cloned by order of: unknown; Megatron
Protoform/body origin: Stolen protoforms in possession of Decepticons
Spark/AllSpark fragment origin: fragment in possession of Decepticons
Time of cloning: around the same time the Team Stunticons’ Autobot shells were cloned, after The Thrill of the Hunt, after Season Three, before The Stunti-Con Job
Nemesis Prime: Successful clone of Optimus Prime. Taken by Straxus soon after creation.
Time of cloning: After Toxitron and the Stunticons’ shells were cloned, after The Thrill of the Hunt, after Season Three
Dark Rodimus: CNA donor chosen on Cyclonus’ suggestion.
CNA Donor: Rodimus Prime
Cloner: possibly Megatron using Starscream’s cloning lab, but the wording of Dark Rodimus’ bio implies that Megatron ordered his creation remotely, so Dark Rodimus was more likely actually made by Scalpel.
CNA Collector: unknown; Lockdown or Pharma while Rodimus was being treated for Cosmic Rust (speculation based purely on actions of Pharma in other continuities.)
Cloned by order of: Megatron
Protoform/body origin: Stolen protoforms in possession of Decepticons
Spark/AllSpark fragment origin: fragment in possession of Decepticons
Time of cloning: After Season Three
Bots Brought to Life by AllSpark(Key)(fragments)
--AllSpark Key
Optimus Prime:
After his death, was intentionally revived by Sari Sumdac’s AllSpark Key in Season One. Proves AllSpark Key can and does grant/restore sparks.
Dinobots: Grimlock, Swoop, Snarl: Given sparks unintentionally. Details and time of creation noted on TFWiki pages. No formal protoforms.
“Animatronic theme park exhibits, until an AllSpark Key upgrade granted them sparks.” Presence of sparks confirmed.
Soundwave: Created intentionally by Megatron. Details and time of creation noted on his TFWiki page. No formal protoform.
Upgraded gradually into fully-functional Cybertronian by AllSpark Key used by Sari Sumdac and himself. Presence of spark unconfirmed, but likely (see Optimus’s revival by key and Dinobots’ possession of sparks above). Soundwave himself knows what a spark is and seems to count it as proof of independent mechanical life (source: bios of his Prototype Minions in The Complete AllSpark Almamac), so it is very likely that he has one himself.
--AllSpark Fragments
Constructicons: First three (not including clone Skipjack) created unintentionally. Times of creation noted on their individual pages. No formal protoforms.
Scrapper: Created when an AllSpark fragment came into contact with a construction vehicle. Presence of spark unconfirmed, but likely. AllSpark intended to grant life.
Mixmaster: Created when an AllSpark fragment came into contact with a construction vehicle. Presence of spark unconfirmed, but likely. AllSpark intended to grant life.
Dirt Boss: “Created accidentally by the fusion of a forklift, a Headmaster unit and an AllSpark fragment.” Presence of spark unconfirmed, but likely. AllSpark intended to grant life.
Starscream: Revived by Allspark fragment after death (twice, if you count the deleted Endgame Part II scene in which Slipsteam puts a fragment she found in him and he comes back online), confirmed no spark. Why his spark was not restored as Optimus’ was is unknown. (Optimus was revived intentionally with the AllSpark Key, while Starscream was revived with no clear external intent from anyone [read: by accident] by an AllSpark fragment lodged in his head (the first time anyway), but it is unknown whether these differences are the cause of the different results, or if the AllSpark is just fickle like that.)
Wreck-Gar: Created unintentionally. Time of creation noted on his TFWiki page. No formal protoform.
AllSpark fragment landed in a garbage scow. Presence of spark unconfirmed, but likely. AllSpark intended to grant life.
Ratbat and Laserbeak: Bodies made by Soundwave; tiny AllSpark slivers installed by Soundwave gave them sparks, confirmed. No formal protoforms.
Stretch: Created unintentionally by Porter C. Powell. Allspark fragment. Spark unconfirmed but likely. After Season Three. No formal protoform.
Special Mentions
Drift: Reformatted from a Decepticon shell to an Autobot one.
Sari Sumdac: Unusual (in shape and size) protoform already possessing spark, infused with human Isaac Sumdac’s DNA, resulted in human/Cybertronian technorganic with a primarily human appearance and functionality (at first).
The AllSpark Key’s purpose was to upgrade her and grant her a Cybertronian form. After months (a year?) of misuse, she finally used the Key for this purpose and acquired an armored Cybertronian mode as well as a general upgrade and change in appearance.
Starscream’s Potential Clone Army/Body Replacements: Cloned shells of his body that were never given life. Did not have protoforms. No sparks or AllSpark fragments. Many unused shells were destroyed by Megatron; remaining shells/parts were later used by Swindle to make Dirge & Thrust.
Jetfire and Jetstorm: Reformatted/given flight capability with aid of Decepticon flight schematics taken from Starscream’s CNA. No new protoforms used. The two bots are twins, the result of a split protoform; split after given a spark. Hence the intuitive combination and presence of a combined alternate mode. Safeguard is implied to be their true form.
Starscream’s CNA: Took over the training simulation in First (and Second) in Flight (Arrival comic) when uploaded by Perceptor. Whether this program was uploaded in full, actually held consciousness, or was just the result of a buggy system is unclear.
Team Stunticon (sans Toxitron): Scalpel & Oil Slick cloned several Autobots’ shells only and transplanted Team Stunticons’ sparks into the shells. Described as reformatting.
Soundwave’s Prototype Minions: Buzzsaw, Sunder, Garboil, Wingthing: Bodies created by Soundwave. No Allspark fragments; presumably no spark. Indexed as drones on tfwiki. Soundwave says in their bios that “before I successfully created machine life” (the successes being Laserbeak and Ratbat), he created some “prototypes””failures” that he chose not to destroy; instead he “released them into the wild to sow discord.”
Sights: Presumably no fragments or spark, but unclear and unconfirmed. “Sights was presumably created by Soundwave, or someone who swiped his technology, given that he shares a body-type with Laserbeak and his kin, and that he originates from Earth.” Possibly another one of his Prototype Minions.
Cyclonus: In The Complete Allspark Almanac, he is implied to be from “a dark future of the Animated universe, in which Megatron has become Galvatron. It also hints that Cyclonus is the future version of Starscream's clone, Skywarp, the cowardly clone since Scalpel believes he located within Cyclonus's code some of “Starscream's 'self preservation' algorithms commented out.”” His personality is described by Scalpel as “cold, virtually sparkless,” possibly a hint that he does not in fact possess a spark, which also supports the theory that Starscream’s clones are sparkless.
Blurr: Spark remained intact when body was crushed into a cube; body restored by AllSpark Matrix during The Return of Blurr. No extra protoform or shell pieces used.
Conclusions
The Autobots have never made clones. (They don’t really have a need to; unlike the Decepticons, they can create new bots normally.)
All bots made with the AllSpark Key definitely have sparks.
Grimlock, Swoop, Snarl, Soundwave
Most bots made with AllSpark fragments have sparks:
If they were an original bot with no CNA donor, they have a spark.
Srapper, Mixmaster, Dirt Boss, Wreck-Gar, Laserbeak, Ratbat, Stretch
If they were a clone whose CNA donor had a spark at the time of CNA collection, they have a spark.
Magnificus, Skipjack, Toxitron, Nemesis Prime, Dark Rodimus
One possible exception to the above rule is the Lugnut Supremes, but the CNA was not collected directly from the spark as per norm; AllSpark fragments stored in Omega Supreme’s sparkchamber were used, possibly resulting in improper clones and no sparks.
If they were a clone whose CNA donor did not have a spark at the time of CNA collection, they do not have a spark. (This really only applies to the Starscream clones, as there are no other instances of this method of cloning.)
Clone #2716057, Clone #3370318, Sunstorm, Skywarp, Slipstream, Thundercracker, Ramjet, Dirge, Thrust
There is no clear evidence indicating that Starscream’s clones have sparks. Most evidence and hints seem to imply that they do not.
AllSpark fragments can grant sparks to bots, OR act as a substitute for a spark, notably granting life and a spark signature despite the lack of an actual spark. (Why and how this works may be up to the AllSpark itself.)
Either fully-formed protoforms are not necessary for Cybertronian life, OR the energy of the AllSpark can generate protomatter/protoforms when it creates/gives life to a bot, if needed.
Reformatting primarily involves a change in shell. The protoform may or may not be replaced.
When Starscream restored his body, he used shell pieces already formed in his image, as well as a protoform and his AllSpark fragment. He did not possess a protoform as he was just a head, hence the need for a new one to fill in the shell. It seems that bots with their own bodies (damaged or otherwise) typically do not need a new protoform when reformatted. See Drift, Jetfire, Jetstorm, and the Stunticons.
Does Magnificus have a spark?
He seems to act like a fully living intelligent Cybertronian, so he’s probably not a drone like Soundwave’s Prototype Minions, but how the Decepticons got a spark is unclear. An original spark would have its own CNA and the result would be more of a reformatted original bot with Perceptor’s body than a true clone, but Magnificus is quite explicitly a true clone.
The only plausible possibilities are that AllSpark energy (who knows how they got a hold of some) and not an original spark was used to give the clone a spark that matched Perceptor’s CNA (which the Decepticons had a sample of), with similar effects as the use of the as-yet nonexistent AllSpark Key when it creates new bots--
OR that Shockwave was able to split or fragment Perceptor’s spark and transport a piece to the Decepticons for use. Intentional spark-splitting and long-distance transport of bare sparks is unconfirmed to be possible in TFA, but has been possible in other continuities. Notably, there has been one instance of short transport in TFA, when Prowl transferred a dying Yoketron’s spark into a blank protoform.
Personally I think #1 is more plausible. Maybe the Decepticons had some one-use artifact or device with stored AllSpark energy.
The final answer to this question is a resounding, “Probably, despite the fact that it should have been impossible.”

//Guess I should iron some details out sooner rather than later. NEW rp stuff will run with my newer headcanons and interpretations of canon. (Any hc posts that aren’t months old are legit, mostly) So, just to keep things straight in my head, I’m making a list of changes. Bit of a note to self. Might change. I’ll make a more... legible list later, probably in the headcanon page, and let everyone know when I do.
Tone down the angst!!!! There’s plenty angst in suddenly going emotionless (whatever social life he had goes down the drain for one thing--not too unusual in wartime though?) but now it’s a bit different with the possibility of turning them back on. The dynamics are different when he’s choosing to be this way, all the time.
The memory data nightmares aren’t a thing that happens. It was nice and maybe you’ll find a substitute, but it’s different now. less edgy. See Sparks/Brains.
^re: above: bit similar idea--switching from routed to unrouted can be disorienting, degree determined by circumstances. If he was feeling things and didn’t know it, it can be a punch in the gut, esp. if strong feels. The opposite way, unrouted to routed, isn’t as difficult.
Dude still fakes emotions, even though he’s got ‘em available.
The EMF thing was also super cool, SUPER cool, but again, see sparks/brains. SO what happens now is his EMF does whatever his spark wants it to while he’s emotionally disconnected, so it won’t really match what he’s expressing/saying/doing all the time. Bit weird. Bit creepy, even, if you’re close enough to feel it. Does match sometimes though--and--he’s not the most emotional of bots to begin with. Don’t go overboard.
Dude the Shockwave and CNA thing though, that’s still real and it’s still awesome. The sparkchamber thing still holds up.
Gotta have lens caps. Manip arms though? Mmm maybe nerf it a bit.
For Pete’s sake figure out something he’s been arrested for
His clone Magnificus IS NOT missing or routing any emotional processes. Probably doesn’t have a voice problem. OOH MAN THAT MEAN’S HE’S GOT PAUL EIDING’S VOICE OHHH I’M SO HAPPY
The deisel/energon only thing isn’t going to fly. Did you even watch tfa? HC: Energon’s best bc it’s from Cybertron, but whenever bots started expanding/exploring, they adapted to other fuel types--a wide-ish range, not everything under the sun, but LESS exclusive than Earth vehicles typically are.
Figure out a better way to explain his light cannon. What you’ve got doesn’t work.
Emotions routed: emotionless(mostly); Emotions unrouted: w/ emotions
More mannered when unrouted. uses contractions a bit more. still wordy, voice still flat as y=0.
look I made a math joke^^^
Also you???? keep thinking of trying to poison Percy just do yourself a favor and have it happen to him at least once you’re here to have fun
I just want to remind everyone that this is a note to SELF. I say YOU, I mean ME. I’m. talking to myself.

Roleplaying History
The rules are simple! Post ten characters you’d like to role play as, have role played as, and might bring back. Then tag ten people to do the same (if you can’t think of ten characters, just write down however many you can and tag the same amount of people). Aside from that, please repost instead of reblogging!
Currently Playing:
Whirl (IDW)
Hoist (IDW)
Pipes (IDW)
Want To/Will Be Playing:
A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE. File these all under want to play, because right now three is all I have time for:
Razorclaw (IDW/G1--and I can't promise that I won't go ahead and pick him up anyway if IDW finally does something cool with Raze, and/or makes Predaking a thing)
Magnificus and Ga'mede (they'd be especially interesting in IDW, with its heavy inter-Galactic relationships and the existence of the DJD)
Precisely one (1) OC of mine, a big dumb insecticon. He’s specific to the IDW continuity.
I’d love to run a single blog that houses a variety of Vehicons--just like, minor characters to switch between for various tasks. I love those little dudes.
Have Played:
Eject (G1/IDW)
Razorclaw (G1)
Blackout + Scorponok (Aligned)
Fearstorm (a very minor Aligned character I LOVED)
Soundwave + Team (Aligned)
Lockdown (TFA)
Breakdown (Aligned)
Various Vehicon OCs (All Aligned)
Various other OCs for a wide variety of continuities and settings
Probably off and on some other TFs. I’ve been Rping for like 16 years so there are plenty here I have not listed.
Will Play Again:
If I had the time, I’d love to play a lot of folks again! Sadly, I do not have all the time in the world, and the setting for a lot of these guys (specific forums, etc) is gone now... I would still love to do those Vehicons, as I mentioned.
Tagged by: @chillintel
Tagging: It took me 1000 years to do this and I forgot who might have already done this so I tag: anyone who sees this and wants to do it!

scalpel (:
YES I sent myself Scalpel as an excuse to infodump about Scalpel. Mind your business.
First impression
This is THE best design I have ever seen out of all the best designs I have EVER seen. I could become obsessed with this. Also right before I got into TFA, I got into Awful Hosital so my other reaction was DR HM PHAGE!?!? Also I was just into MLAATR before too so KRACKUS!?
Impression now
Honestly, I was always destined to love Scalpel. My track record shows as much (looks at phage and krackus and every other mad scientist and weird doctor I’ve ever fixated on). He’s a mad doctor. He looks like a weird bug. His design is essentially just EYES which is a sure fire way to get me to like a design. He is EVERYTHING.
We only know so much about him. We know he prefers taking things apart. We know he created Toxitron, Magnificus, Nemesis, and Dark Rodimus. We know he works with Oil Slick. So I just took his character and ran with it. I base my interpretation partially off of Dr. Phage, but I see him as very?? Enthusiastic about his work. Very competitive too. I could write an entire essay on my depiction of him, but just know I love and adore him and I love developing him.
I am, admittedly a bit grateful he never had his chance to be on the show because I have had SO much fun developing what I have for him. Lots of creative energy from this little bug!! 😭
Favorite moment
By default, this, since it was his ONLY moment.
Idea for a story
Besides my Re-Animator AU.
I have a fic wip of a research log by the bot I headcanon as his creator... and I have an AU I want to write about where Oil Slick goes offline andScalpel desperately tries to revive him, Frankenstein style, and Mindwipe is dragged along for the ride. And I want to write about his days in the science guild. I want to write a lot about him.
Unpopular opinion
Looks into the camera.
Favorite relationship
SCALPELSLICK... canon lab partners who cloned a bunch of bots together?? Umm that is called PARENTHOOD. They are in love! It’s that simple! I adore the idea of their relationship, Oil Slick bregudgingly beginning to find Scalpel’s endless hubris ENDEARING the more they work together?? Finding him CUTE?? Falling deeply in love and the two of them being deeply impressed by the other’s work!?
The dark romantic-comedy... a morbid and deeply loving relationship, like the Addams family except like actually evil. I love the potential they have... Also Scalpel’s relationship with their CLONE CHILDREN!! He does play favorites and his favorite is Toxitron.
Also, I love him having a one-sided rivalry with anyone he doesn’t like, but especially Perceptor. Also legally I have to mention Mindwipe, his annoying in-law, since I headcanon that Oil Slick adopts Mindwipe as a younger brother.

Ok this is gonna be more than one.
- He was created in a research lab far off from Cybertron by a certain scientist who was focusing his research on experimenting with Protoforms. He would also put said creator offline before making his way to Cybertron to join the science guild. Fellow creations from the same lab are Nightbird and Autobot X.
- His main focus in his research is creating LIFE. He was kicked out of the science guild because his ideas were starting to get... dangerous. Like the kind of dangerous where he insisted on using the allspark, you know, the source of all Cybertronian life itself, for his experiments and research. PC Magnus was like. Ok. This guy has got to go.
- One of his personal experiments involved using a tiny fraction of his spark to create a little lab assistant for himself. It worked! It’s horrifying but he treats it like his baby.
- His loyalty to Megatron is conditional, he has no deep loyalty to the Decepticon faction, he mostly cares about being able to do what he wants and having the equipment he needs.
- His opinion on gender is “I don’t care how others perceive me so long as they perceive me as a threat”
