Dumb Monster mercs 2 electric boogaloo

So I’ve established that RED Spy tf2 in the monster AU is a werewolf, not a vampire.

RED Medic is a vampire though, and that begs the question of what his bat form would look like.

This is a flying fox. They’re not native to Germany or Euorope as a whole, but I just can’t picture the mad doctor as a scrunch faced little bat.

Like nah fam, that thing’s too round and non-threatening to be him. Also he’s a tall dude, he and Spy are like the same height but he’s just not a beanpole.

The Australian flying foxes get really big, which makes more sense for a vampire anyways because they’re scary. I imagine his bat eyes are still blue, which would make him look like a blind big bat to a civilian who hasn’t read up on vampire lore.

That being said, I imagine vampirism in the tf2 universe is like a magic curse that acts like a parasite. Instead of being able to eat actual food, you drink blood. Depending on what you eat, it tastes like food you used to like as a human, and animals that were raised on a lot of corn or potatoes taste like meat with a side dish.

Human and sentient monster blood tastes foul, and most vamps actually don’t go out of their way to eat people or try to infect them. However. Monster hunting guilds across the world want people to believe that vampires eat humans, because if they learn the truth it puts the art of vampire slaying under scrutiny. And that means less funding for the guilds, as well as shame for their governments.

There’s a simple solution to keep that lie running; starve a vampire and then bring them out to be executed. Because the vampirism is a magic parasite of sorts that makes undead, it needs fuel to keep them healthy. That fuel being some form of blood. If you starve a vamp, the parasite starts sending signals to attack anything that moves and drink its blood, no matter who or what it is.

So even if you were a totally peace-loving vamp, if you got captured by a monster hunting guild you’d be driven mad with hunger and made to look savage.

Medic was actually infected during WWII when he opened a little eyehole slot looking into a vampire’s prison cell. The old man was being held captive by N*zis, and he figured the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Which was true, but the old man had been starved and forced his bat form out of the hole to get him.

The RED team has a paddock of captured animals that the Medic eats. He’d of course sampled their blood from surgeries out of morbid curiosity, but that’s it. It also wasn’t unusual for him to be gone for a long time to refill the animal blood supply.

If he were to get captured by some competent monster hunters, Heavy would be the one sent to rescue him.

Heavy in the monster verse is a large Siberian ogre. Like Vampires, the idea that ogres eat humans is mostly untrue; though some factions have eaten their enemies villages after their own families were attacked or killed.

They have thick skin that is very hard to puncture, which is why it would be safest for him to go and rescue Medic if some bozos tried to starve him. Vampires can’t control themselves when they’ve gone without for more than 4 days, and they can’t stop drinking blood until that unfortunate target is drained. Heavy’s the only teammate who wouldn’t be drained, and who’s capable of wrangling the doctor off him to redirect him to an animal target.

Being a Siberian ogre, Heavy is accustomed to wearing bear fur like a chest plate or vest, with tanned leather pants. Some warmer climate ogres wear leather as well, but tend to keep their bellies bare since they have no need for a full shirt. It would be very easy for the doctor to turn into a bat and hold onto part of Heavy’s bear-fur vest; staying safe and camouflaged in his weakened state while the big guy destroyed the monster hunting outpost.

For anyone curious, the Emesis Blue BLU Medic is not a vampire, but instead a mage that uses healing spells on the BLU team. There’s no weird occult spells in his arsenal, but given his childhood in N*zi Germany as a Jewish man, it didn’t really matter how good his intentions were.

In the regular timeline BLU team has no idea about his heritage, but given how odd it is for a healing, Holy mage to be persecuted in a world of Monster hunters fighting necromancers and witches, the subject did come up. BLU team may not have a Scout, but they are less aloof and secretive than in the main timeline. Even Spy.

RED Spy and BLU Ma still had BLU Scout since he and RED Ma are friends, not compatible lovers. But both Scouts are on RED team.

BLU Soldier was brought back to life like Frankenstein’s monster by the US government to fight in Vietnam. He escaped and decided to join BLU to keep himself from being sicked on someone by his lying government.

BLU Pyro [Cheryl] was human once, but the bratty girls in her Maine hometown wanted her “weird ***” gone, so they tried to turn her into a scary dragon. They misread the spell and accidentally turned her into a Phoenix. This serves her well fighting against RED Pyro, since she keeps regenerating when destroyed.

RED and BLU exist more to keep the monster mercs strong and wily, so they can fight monster hunters. Though, the witch administrator had successfully gaslighted Redmond and Blutarch to believe otherwise. She doesn’t really care about the mercs, but hates humans a lot more for inconveniencing her and her unknown plans.

here are some stuff that i drew, one is a screenshot redraw from lego monkie kid and one is Metalbeard featuring Rem by @brickowskibois

here's some lore for the big guy (it's a bit long so get ready)

long story short, Metalbeard is kinda like the Engineer from tf2, when he goes to fighting/helping the others do hero work, he builds up a sentry gun, and health dispenser and other chet

so yeah, he's a mechanic, but he's mostly a mechanic for vehicles,, and it's connected to his backstory (yes, this guy has a backstory)

so, before he became a mechanic, and a cyborg, he has a family, a wife and 2 kids (a boy and a girl), he was once fully human and a soldier, and he just got back from war after,, maybe 3-5 years

when he got back, he planned a vacation to hang out with the fam, when they're now on the road, they got in a big car accident, the brake wasn't working and the vehicle he's driving lost control

he's the only survivor and his body needed to be replaced with robot parts, thus becoming a cyborg

thus him also becoming a mechanic for vehicles, he doesn't want anyone to have a car accident and lose everything like he does

but before he became a mechanic, when he's now used to being a cyborg, he went back to becoming a soldier 24/7 for like, a few more years just to like, maybe clear his mind from losing his family

but after a few missions and losing more and more of his team and having new ones and losing them and repeat, he's not having a great time anymore, he's just too hurt to see them dying and he's almost always the last one standing, so he retired and became a mechanic

also, Metalbeard is like, a 100+ years old.. how is he still alive? well, his robot body is why, idk how to explain how his half human self doesn't look a day old after the accident but yeah

the car accident is the reason why he has an eye patch, he doesn't want to replace it with a robotic or artificial eye

random info, Metalbeard has always wanted to grow a beard, but since he's in the military, he's not really allowed to have one, and ever since he became a cyborg, it's impossible for his to grow one, so when he retired, he added that metal beard and now he's called as Metalbeard.. his real name is Nick (yes, he's named as his voice actor cuz why not) but he doesn't have a last name anymore, it just makes him remember his family and it hurts him, so he just calls himself Metalbeard until everyone also called him Metalbeard

Alan doesn't have anything physical to remember his mother, considering he ran away. But one memory he has is her humming/singing to him. He asked if he has a dad, to which Ophelia replied that he didn't need one because he had a mother and his brothers.

James got the short end of the stick out of everyone because he only knew their mother for the shortest time and during her years when her health was withering. He has the most photos out of everyone but holds on to her necklace."

Cursed thought about TF2 as a dnd characters (warning: dnd rules used loosely pls don't correct me it's been years and also rule of cool bitches)

Demoman is a warlock who unknowingly made a contract with a minor demon for his powers (he was drunk and could barely TALK straight. Poor bloke /affectionate). Minor demon who gave him his power now haunts his eyeball socket. I know he's tall but i think he'd be a halfling. Or at least raised by them.

Medic would be a paladin cleric multi class (i know boring but hold on). He started off as a "cleric" worshiping a god that DEFINITELY should not have been worshipped (and he gives him sacrifice via Archimedes dove delivery) because it was one of the more deranged local medical academic gods. I say medical academic because he is more a god of experiments than actually healing... Which is why he likes medic so much cause he's like "let's just put a baboon uterus inside you... Fuck it let's do three". Anyway Medic is soooo devoted to this gods cause that the sheer time, planning, and effort to removed that first human skeleton while the person was alive became his oath that gave him his paladin powers. Not even the god (who later possesses Archimedes after the dove nearly dies) saw that coming.

Spy is a rogue (obviously fucking look at him) but he's also a changeling decendent of an arcane trickster, hence his shape shifting abilities and his taste for... The shiner and nicer things in life.

Scout is his fighter tiefling son who is CONVINCED his dad is this famous demon singer who wrote a song called "sex bomb" (scout does not know what a sex or a bomb is until engine sits down to explain to him). His mother and all his brothers and stuff are human nobody knows why he's the only tiefling in the fam uh *looks at spy*. He still fights with a baseball bat. Not a club. A baseball bat. And he's still from Boston. Somehow.

Also for lolz instead of pyro being a wizard who constantly casts fireball he's actually an artificer! He keeps thinking he's building cute fun weapons and weapon mods when really theyre weapons of mass destruction because when he was young he was "blessed" by the fair folk to only see good things. We both know how that's going.

On the other hand engineer THINKS he's an artificer but actually he's a wizard and his dad and grandpa's notes on complex inventions hes trying to build + improve is actually his family grimoire.

When Demo meets your family he just has the normal jitters but after seeing they're all like you he relaxes

They bypass the torture stuff without noticing it

Per the usual Pyro they think you're an angel that could do no wrong

So when they meet your family they don't think twice about the way they act

You concern him slightly but he's still in love with you so

He always does make sure you get good sleep even if you always look sleep deprived

When he meets your family he tries really hard to get them to like him

Medic

He is the Gomez to your Mortica

Basically the same dynamic

He'll gladly help with any torture methods you feel like applying today

He's also always got some of you favorite weapons of hand for when you need them

When he met your family he was in his element he had the best time

Sniper

You make him so nervous

He does love you so he's not like terrified of you

He does enjoy wearing black clothes sometimes so some days you two match

When he meets you family his anxiety shoots up to eleven

Spy

He counts off you behavior as you being your wonderful self

He does get some of his own black clothes (and mask) so you two can match

When he meets your family he has no trouble charming them so don't even fret

TF2 Drabbles: Engie/Scout - New Year's Party

Summary: could i request engiescout 🥺 maybe the mercs are having a new years party and scout is bummed out that hes going into new years away from his ma and fam and engie helps to cheer him up :3

New Year’s wasn’t a holiday that Scout had ever given much weight to before. So soon after Christmas, one of the biggest holidays, it was had to think of it as important. Thus he hadn’t complained about the order to return to base before it instead of after it as they’d done in previous years. Celebrating it with the team had seemed like a perfectly fine substitute at the time. Now that he was here though, it didn’t feel like a good substitute at all.

Normally New Years was the last day he got to spend with Ma and the rest of his family before heading back to work until he could see them again on Thanksgiving. So instead of drinking, he always went around to make sure he chatted with everyone at least a little bit or pulled a prank here or there when an opportunity presented itself for people to remember him by. Technically he could still do that but he was gonna see these guys basically every day until Thanksgiving instead. Which was great, hanging out and working with these fools were a large part of why he loved his job. But he liked hanging out with his family too. He didn’t get a choice though so he just had to suck it up.

Unfortunately having thought so hard about it that he’d figured out why he felt more down than he usually did during team parties didn’t help him feel any better. If anything it made him feel worse because now he was actively aware of missing his family instead of just vaguely dissatisfied. Ugh, this is why he usually ran from his emotions instead of trying to understand them.

Maybe he should just drink himself stupid until he forgot about it. Demo had spiked the punch with some pretty heavy alcohol so it wouldn’t be hard. He’d miss the stroke of midnight but did it even matter? Yeah, it was the point of the holiday and all but…

“Hey bud.”

He flinched a little, his gaze snapping up. So wrapped up in his thoughts he hadn’t noticed Engie approaching. As always he looked odd without his hardhat and goggles, rare was the days he didn’t wear them. Scout had somehow convinced him into completely taking off working on stuff for the rest of today to attend the team New Year’s party instead so he’d taken them off.

Scout quickly shook off his surprise, hopefully before Engie noticed it. “Hey pal.”

“You doing all right?”

“What? Why wouldn’t I be?”

“Don’t know but you’re sitting over here by yourself and that ain’t like you so I figured maybe something was wrong.”

“So you decided to come over here and make sure I’m okay or something?”

“Yep.”

If it were anyone else Scout would’ve brushed them off. But Engie had always been the least judgmental person on the team. Also the least likely to spread personal stuff. Which wasn’t to say he was judgment free or never spread anything, but when it came to stuff told directly to him in confidence, he was good about keeping to himself and not being outwardly harsh about whatever he thought of it. And so Scout had always liked talking to him, sometimes it even made him feel better.

“I’m just a bit homesick. Which like yeah, yeah, I know we were just allowed to go home for Christmas but normally we don’t gotta come back until tomorrow. So normally I’m at the New Year’s party my Ma hosts with however many of my brothers, their spouses and kids stick around for it. It’s like weird to be here instead, you know?”

“Hmm… can’t say I really know but I understand the sentiment, I think. You didn’t get to spend as much time with your folks as you usually do and didn’t get to give them the kinda goodbye you usually do either. So makes sense your feeling a bit off. Now, I ain’t really sure how to help with that kinda thing but uh… you want company? Maybe we could play some cards or something.”

Before he’d come over Scout wouldn’t have thought company would be enjoyable. Now that he was here though and offering to help even though admitting he wasn’t sure how to, it seemed the exact perfect thing. So… “Yeah, sure, company sounds great. Thanks.”

“Anytime.”
