RRR Stars Ram Charan and NTR Jr. Are Open to Hollywood
RRR Stars Ram Charan and NTR Jr. Are Open to Hollywood
Screenshot: Variance Films If there’s one question audiences are asking after watching S.S. Rajamouli’s epic RRR, it’s: “Where can we see more of Ram Charan and NTR Jr.?” It seems inevitable that the Tollywood superstars will blow up on the Hollywood blockbuster scene with crossover success—think pop-star BTS level, but make it cinema. It’s time to place our bets on which director or producer…

if netflix keeps putting up telugu movies like RRR and Baahubali in every language except the original i’m going to burn their building down.
#they keep erasing my mothertongue and i feeling like committing multiple homicides#so many famous movies in the last few years have been in Telugu#and it sucks that people from other countries can’t hear the beautiful original language that it was made in#tollywood#netflix#rrr

Heyy, this is a new blog that I've created to share my struggles and joys of being a south Indian NRI teenage girly.
I intend to treat this blog as a sort of journal, so not all of my content will be related to my ethnicity, but I hope my experiences and opinions are relatable and funny to everyone!
Also, I love interaction so please do reply, repost and message me!
Lots of love, ur bbg xx

🎵'Tis the music ask again! Tell me about 5 songs you actually listen to. Proceed and send this to 5 of your most devoted followers 😌🎵
Thanks to you I put Happy Gary ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ now everywhere. A great source of joy.
hey vic!!!!! thanks so much for the ask and i'm so sorry that this has taken me approximately forever to answer. also, hell yeah, happy gary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway! five songs i really, really, really like to listen to:
Honey by Magic Man - this was my top song last year and i still listen to it a bunch this year. it's just such a good song in generall and at this point it's a huge comfort song (i'll play it on loop to calm down, etc.)
Haircut by Chaz Cardigan - this song makes me feel seen and also reminds me that i can change any time i want
Molotov Girls by The Zolas - i am a huge fan of drums in my songs and imo this one is very good for this and has a lot of other fun/nice instrumental parts
Tha Melagholiso - Otherview Remix - MAD VMA 2019 - by Katy Garbi, Alcatrash, Otherview - i like to listen to greek music to feel more connected to the culture and this is by far my favorite. it's an all around great song and gets be hyped/motivated if i'm feeling down
Naatu Naatu by Rahul Sipligunj, Kala Bhairava - this is from the tollywood movie RRR (highly recommend watching it!!!) and this song just goes so hard and i do play it to get myself motivated, similar to number four, lmao. also, the telugu version of the song is so much better than the hindi version, i don't make the rules
(tbh, this was so hard because i listen to a lot of music and i'm so bad at picking faves and such but it was also so much fun, thank you!!!!!)
#all of these songs (other than the telugu version of naatu naatu) are on spotify if people are interested#if anyone wants an mp3 of naatu naatu hmu 👀#and thank you so so so so much for the ask!!!!!!#i always get so excited to see younin my notifs and ask box :)))))#and this one was a particularly fun time!!!!!#thanks vic :)))#zip answers#euphoric-cha0s

i do think it’s like, fucked the way people talk about cinema in india as if being in a certain language makes it either guaranteed or impossible to be good. it is absolutely crazy insane to say that all hindi and telugu films are mindless and bengali films are 100 percent guaranteed to be beautiful all the time. like girl what’s going on.
#i understand a lot of the criticism stems from the insane commercialization of the hindi/telugu/tamil what have you industries but that is#an insane statement#sorry someone wrote a letterboxd review that pissed me off lmao#white people do not even LOOK at this post.

it's been a while since I ranted about Hindi on here but Netflix having RRR in Hindi but not in Telugu has me right back on my bullshit.
I mean it's. a fucking Telugu movies ffs. It's just greattttttt (/s) to be reminded aGAIN that Hindi (slash north Indian culture in general in other contexts) is the de-facto answer to anything Indian. I mean it's annoying enough in the depiction of anything that's just "vaguely Indian", but fine whatever I can't expect every single facet of a very diverse country to be represented so whatever. but this!!! is a fucking telugu movie!!! by telugu people!!! about telugu people!!!! One of whom I've literally grown up hearing about!! now packaged for consumption by the whole world in Hindi :)))
I mean it's probably just a result of how licensing agreements and that stuff works (hopefully) more than being an intentional choice or whatever, but it still pisses me off. I mean, there's a reason I've never related to the term 'desi' - because all the connotations that word has for me have always been distinctly north Indian with minimal room for the culture that I grew up in. So as much as the popularity of Baahubali and RRR made me flinch (because if there's one thing I've learnt from my years of consuming media, it's that it never, never ends well if anything from my part of the world makes it onto international screens; that is and probably will remain my default reaction for a while tbh), it was still nice because ha, maybe NOW the rest of the world (rest of my own country included) will recognise that we're distinct from Bollywood, y'know? (Heck, it's not even North India as a whole that I take issue with, because Hindi being treated as ubiquitous also hurts other North Indian languages.)
Because yeah!!! RRR is not a Bollywood flick! Nor was Baahubali! It grates on my nerves when I see them being referred to as such. And now it's really annoying that apparently I can't even expect a film to stay in its original language when it leaves the country because of course everything Indian is automatically something Hindi when it comes to the rest of the world. the rest of us plebeians speaking other languages can go fuck ourselves I guess.
#hello i am on back on my hindi imposition rants#anyway yeah i did not look up rrr with the intention of watching it until literally today#tbh i /never/ planned to watch it but [shrugs] finally gave in and decided to bite the bullet and subject myself to it#i mean to be fair it's a rajamouli film so the odds are high that it'll be great#but mhmm i am still unsure about whether i want to watch it#what i find amusing is that i see it being hyped up so much on the interwebs#but actual people i know who've watched it and even most indian film critics populating the response section on the wiki page#are all just... lukewarm in their response#my dad was all but rolling his eyes when naatu naatu won that music award the name of which is evading me rn#because 'it wasn't even that great'#like there /have/ been great telugu films#it's just that no one i know seems to count rrr as one of them#so it was VERY jarring to see it suddenly appear on my dash and NOT be spoken of entirely derisively online#very strange and i am still cautious but yeah#it's just. very strange to get used to this#placeholder tag#and the assumed ubiquitousness of hindi can go die <3

At the end of the day idc if i get fired, i don't tolerate people being rude to my immigrant coworkers. They are trying their best and their english is a little broken but you know what? They do more than what you would do in their place. If you were in their shoes you would be Fucking Terrified. I know i would be
#would YOU leave your whole family and country behind to work (and make more money? idk the exchange rate w dollar/rupee)#speak your second language daily and only speak your native language with the people who came with you?#i'm actually learning telugu a little bit. bengali not so much#i cant imagine what its like for them. so i dont tolerate people being mean to them#they do their best and if still pisses you off i hope youre ready for my wrath and a refund w no food im kitchen manager my word is law#some of them left their spouse (and in one case 3 kids) to work here and send money back. most of the girls go to college#most people who come to the counter wouldnt even Consider doing what these guys did#and for that theyre braver than me and have my respect
