🎼 You could be the match that lights a spark, that shines a little light on a broken heart…🎵 No one could have saved me from active addiction, I honestly believe that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I don’t think anyone can be rescued, begged, pleaded, poked, or prodded into choosing this way of life. What CAN happen though is seeing those who are living proof that we DO recover. Towards the end of my active addiction, expected for someone to swoop in and save me, to kidnap me drag me to rehab, and fix my life for me. That’s not what happened. Instead, I was given the tools, support, and resources ti save myself! This was wayyy more than I could have ever asked for, and probably more grace than I deserved. Today is #NationalWriteDownYourStoryDay and if you're new around here, fun fact: I've been doing exactly that for over a decade. Nearly two decades. And I have two full length collections of poetry out in the world sharing that story. And a third one coming this fall. If you're an artist of any kind, you're already doing this as well. Even if you don't label yourself a poet, a painter, a doodler, a storyteller or a musician. And there is an amazing beauty in that. And, if you're not writing your story, I consider you to start. Maybe not for the world around you. Maybe not for future generations of your own family. Maybe not even for any reason in particular at all. But those stories and details could be life preservers for yourself at a later point. They might get scattered across the things you leave behind and inspire a stranger. They might even get lost and wander their way around a space you can't explore in the time a single lifetime offers you. 🥰💌💓Love Me Challenge.. Day 27 WHAT HAVE YOU ACCEPTED ABOUT YOU..🥰💌 I JUST DONT QUIT!! What keeps me from just throwing the towel in.. There was a time in my life when all things lined up perfectly. I was on top of the world. I thought " Life is easy!" Then came a time when no matter what i did, i couldnt seem to get it right. I thought to myself " Life is so Hard!" After all that, i just wanted to sleep. "Wake me up when this is all over." I would say. That's when everything changed and my life was simply unrecognizable. So i learned to ride the waves and appreciate the blessings and see life for what it really was...An Adventure. I have many many sleepless nights but I learned a lot on lifes lessons. The biggest lesson I have learned is VALUE. the second lesson was LOYALTY. the third was TRUST. The fourth was SELF WORTH. Finally RESPECT. I am so ready to try a new roller coaster out because switching parks was the best decision I've ever made. When thoughts of limitation come while your pursuing your dreams, just shrug it off.. kinda like when a fly buzzes by.. swat that thought and go on! You were born to be real, not perfect.. Youre here to be you.. not to be what someone else wants you to be.. Stand up for yourslf.. look them in the eye.. and say.. "dont judge me until you kno wme.. Dont underestimate me until you have challenged me.. and dont talk about me until you have talked to ME! I have learned from my setbacks and turned them right into MY COMEBACK! . 📣 Shout out to YOU who is working through those dark challenging moments that no one yet sees. ✅ You've been silently winning battles and transforming yourself. ✅ Be proud of every step you're making in the right direction. So, yesterday I got an interesting DM from someone who said they weren't sure about three words which I had written in the excerpt from my book. (I posted it a few days ago under a photo of me). This person said that if my book was still in the editing stages then there were probably "more eloquent" ways to express what I had said. I've decided to respond here. My book is part memoir, it's how I felt about my situation. My book is not in the editing stages as I've mentioned multiple times that I'm seeking an agent/a publisher. If you feel the need to critique me, at least take the time to make it constructive. Telling me you don't like something for the sake of telling me is just mean spirited. Don't do it over a DM. Own it. Post it so everyone can see. Maybe others want to weigh in.
