A tiny piece of a map of my world
As of here the other day, I chose to finally try drawing a map in hand. I’ve always had a digital sketch of the world, though nothing that looked as pretty as the traditional result.
The countries presented are those mostly appearing in book 1-5. Only Ardia is in book 6 which introduces the future of the world which was presented in book 1-5.
A world of magic:
Every citizen around the world knows of the commonness of magic. As such magic is used as one’s living way. Countries have formed and lived to this. In the newer times do people see that magic is plummeting and disappearing, resulting in new ways to evolve and finding new ways to live… though that may first be in a few hundred years.
As of such, a world filled with magic, doesn’t resolve to revolutionize itself. While there has been evolutions, such as the train and the new firepowers, is it not something all and everyone resolves to, believing magic will still stay around or maybe they fear the new and unknown, having to accept that magic is slowly disappearing and more and more people becomes magicless or at least not able to perform magic spells and control their magic.
Travel routes:
Travel routes of the seas and travel routes of the lands are often more than not used for very different things. Travel routes of the lands are rarely used to heavy traveling besides caravans and festivals and are mostly just used by regular travelers. For people all the heavy transportation is seen better at crossing the seas where it doesn’t strain on humans nor animals.
Some travel routes are though limited. Example: you can’t sail from Choutane (Vitia) to Tedrid (Kanakaria). You’ll have to make your stop in Avishüi (Arüideria) and travel across land to Letou (Shuirin). And it far from comes without complications due to the fact that Arüideria is enemies with Shuirin.
In fact, Arüideria holds the main travel through between the south, northwest and northeast when it comes to land travels…
Countries:
Arüideria (Kingdom):
The Kingdom of Arüderia is special. It overtook 3 countries through war and added them to their land so the solely could have the most power of the north.
For a Kingdom do they not have a King at the main power. It does have a council, though not so democratically chosen, since it’s the King’s choice for that. But the councils’ job is simply to lead the country while the King is nothing more than a public image.
Arüideria harbors one capital named Trükane and has 3 other major towns which used to be the capitals of the 3 countries which they overtook. The three towns are the harbor town Avishüi and the two traveller towns Rebanak and Passarai. None of the towns are absolutely happy with the overtake from Arüideria – even hundreds of years later. Passarai still implements a lot of its own culture through hate of nomads and treating priests worse than the pigs.
Avishüi was the one to accept the overtake much better and has now been getting better control of the passing throughs of goods from the west. Most of the citizens live good lives and the lower class has become smaller over the years.
Rebanak still though suffers from constant overtakes. Both Dachacine and Shuirin keeps trying to get control of the traveller town and it makes the town a constant battlefield between the three powers of Arüideria, Dachacine and Shuirin since the town is central for travelling from the north till the south.
Noshürielü (Kingdom):
This country has an actual king sitting as the dominant power, it doesn’t mean the King doesn’t involve his citizens though. He holds frequent meetings with the lords of the country to hear how the different lands and its people are doing. Besides the frequent meetings is the King also known for having quite some parties where he mingles nomads, lords, commoners, and royals (or leaders) from other countries.
Noshürielü is unique in the fact they are the country with the highest numbers of bounties on wild animals – or beasts as they rather call them. A lot of it involves the beasts of the sea, mountains, and hills. Once a year they also have the bounty race on southernmost island about who can catch the rare beast of the year first – alive. If dead, you have to pay a lot.
Most bounties include capturing the animals alive for “shows” around the world, but the King himself likes to actually preserve the animals and keep them on his private island which are the closest to the mainland.
The capital of Noshürielü is mainly used as a harbor capital of the northern west and is named Plaissise. It holds the yearly sun festival during high peak of summer and become a party hotspot for the world. The King also got his castle there, which is mainly made out of the white stones from the mountains.
In the past has the King of Noshürielü been known to flirt with anybody on his way. This included the previous King of Arüideria. The country in total tries to keep its peace with the neighboring countries and every 50th years apart is there a commoner vote at the border to hear if they feel like they are a part of Noshürielü. The same commoner voting has been agreed with their neighbors.
Vitia (Kingdom):
Vitia as a Kingdom function in a two way. The King is chosen between the lords and voted upon. They call the leader “King” but truly would it not be. This also means any lord family counts as royals and as such is even allowed to marry into royal families of other countries.
Vitia harbors three major towns where only two is depicted on the map. The two depicted is the capitol Chautane and the travellers town Teüro. The lands of Teüro, while falling under the Kingdom of Vitia, is more of a peacecollided land. While it has to follow the majority of the rules of Vitia will it not uphold any laws going against the laws of Fraycië, Noshürielü, or Arüideria. It therefor tries to upkeep peace between the 4 lands and brings itself to be a safe town for runaways, nomads and more.
The lords of Vitia only vote on a “King” every 30th year and has had the system for around 300 years. They find it functional, and it keeps war from happening between the lords themselves. As such no lord wanna break the deal nor take total control, knowing that if they do the other lords will be after their heads and the voting will restart. One thing a lot of the lords agree upon though is that they aren’t happy for the mingling of commoners and royals which happens at the parties in Noshürielü.
Donchase (Kingdom):
Like Arüideria is the royal family nothing but a public face. Unlike Arüideria is the council though chosen by any working commoner and voting are held every 10thyear. The voting takes about 6 months. This means from the voting papers to reach every working commoner, to counting and finally selecting. The usual participants for the council are often lords or the higher class of any kind but also includes hardworking middle-class people. About 20 people gets voted into the council and everyone who gets voted in is expected to live in the capital – the only major town in Donchase even – Cacarae. It’s also a travelling route to a major river.
Fraycië (Kingdom):
Fraycië is a kingdom where the King has dictating power. It’s also one of the special ones for having mingled the royal family with Rexens. This was to overcome a peace treaty between the Rexens and the humans by creating a royal family who represents both. This makes sometimes for the weirdest looks on the royal family and they are often – more than not moving into an uncanny valley effect.
In previous times a princess of the mixed blood was married away to a prince of Arüideria to keep peace. The result became what was known as the previous king of Arüideria. A man who didn’t desire to be royal and felt far from home as his rexen genes would call for the wild.
The royal family in Fraycië is known to go on “wild hunts” but often just resulting in finding berries, mushrooms and other eatable plants and fruits of the wild and the Rexens of the north is herbivores. This also makes the royal family easy to poison by just serving them meat for longer periods of time.
The capital – Frande – was named such as supposed to be meaning “friend”. The Kingdom sort out to be friends rather than power-hungry but still wants complete control of its people.
Qutetish (Empire):
Qutetish like Arüideria sort out after more land and more power. It is also a military state where the commanding family stands to plan out any power actions. They are enemies with Arüideria – wanting control of Passarai (Which of course is an excuse since it’s the only easy way into Arüideria).
Qutetish is also the only “country” to have two capitals – one depicted, one not. Ebonhaben holds itself special with a big rainbow three in the middle of the town and the other capital – Warazha, is placed towards the sea of the east. Qutetish has been spending years on evolving a fast way of transportation between the two capitals and is the first country to have a train. Such transportation and how it is made is not shared with the world yet and with its strict borders is it hard for outsiders to make it into the country and getting knowledge of the train it has.
They are also a country against halfbloods, nomads and treating priests as lowest position in the country. Even pigs – just like in Passarai – would have more power than priests.
The country is often having wars and fights with Arüideria. The focus to take over Passarai has for now saved the other neighboring countries Paskarë and Kanakaria – but also because Qutetish already have a big harboring town to the east sea and the northern east seas, so they do not seek that as of now.
Kanakaria (Lands of the free):
Kanakaria, while having very few wars in their history, is also known as the country of no laws. It’s made down to be the survival of the fittest. The peace of land called Kanakaria is also known as The Lands of The Free. While it has been absolutely chaos for years on end, terrifying its neighbors, have they in newer times adapted to a more peaceful living, despite the fact there is no police, no military and no rulers. Citizens often find themselves helping each other actively to hold crimes down and everyone is more or less on equal foot.
It does state itself to have a capital, though known as the capital of chaos where pirates, runaways and others find themselves not hunted and freed from any governments. The capital is called Tedrid. It’s also a perfect country to live in if you try to escape society as no one will go far enough out into the woods to even find you and no one will ever be searching for anyone in the land. Despite this does a lot of nomads still travel around, seeking some sort of peace.
Paskarë (The scarred lands):
If a country got to exist in the middle of all the chaos and just wish it was all over, then it would be Paskarë. While having rules and laws do they fear the day where it’ll all fall apart. Even the lords holding the power and choosing the laws from land to land, fear the day the country will fall into chaos. They are lucky enough to find themselves protected by the mountains so their fear of Arüideria is little, but they often deal with problems of Kanakaria at the border lands, knowing the Kanakarian people don’t even know when they’ve entered another country. Paskarë doesn’t really believe it’ll ever have the manpower to have an army of any sort, so they’ve spent more time creating a strong guard/police force to keep the country under control and in hope to make it more peaceful somehow.
Their worst fear though would be the Qutetish empire, but they are trying their best and sends yearly gifts to the commanding family.
The capital is called Mës and is also the town to earn most of the money through sales from the sea. They often does trades of the metals found in the ground beneath the country.
Shuirin (Kingdom):
Shuirin is the only Kingdom of the “South” and holds three major harboring towns. This means the capital Chasiel and the two other major towns; Letou and Gresto. They have good lands for farming and find themselves as a good middle center for trading that to the north and the south.
The country is often trying to see if they can overtake Rebanak, the town in the mountain ranges, but are only able to hold the town for a couple of months before Arüideria or Dachacine takes over, due to the fact most of their military power is kept in holding on the harbor town Letou.
Dachacine (Lordships):
Dachacine while calling itself a country, is less under one ruler and more given to each and every lord. The lords take the jobs of ruling the different peaces of lands and usually only meet up around every 3rd year to distribute the wealth to the different lands more properly. It’s about keeping the people in the different lands happy. The lords agreed to sign all the lands together to be one country and are helping each other with ex. Power. They all agree they could do much better with having the town Rebanak in their power since only a few ships see a point in sailing to Vritte, so they need another major town to earn in the money to keep every peace of land in good wealth.
Countries not depicted but appearing in the books:
Due to the size of the paper was some countries not depicted while still appearing in the books.
This include the country Reayeria which gets it’s earnings as the southern central and is therefor often passed through by people of the south if they have to go north – or simply cross to the other side. Other stuff from Reayeria includes the yearly festival in the capital (Raza) where people from all around the world come and perform and their usual battle arena gets made into a big show for everyone around the world to be able to participate in and watch.
Another country is Meiis which has in it’s past been overtaken by both Reayeria, Dotishü and Beizen. It has lead to a lot of confusion for the people about who they are, what religion is practiced and their stance in the world. The current time is under a president chosen by the lords but the country has a lot of rebuilding to do.
Beizen while still calling itself its own country is actually under the power of Dotishü and often suffers or see themselves angry on their neighbor. A lot of civil wars do break out.
Dotishü is a country with a chosen dominant power – though the family in charge neither see themselves as royals nor commanders. They even see themselves replaceable. They do seek to spread their power, religion and knowledge, wanting to see themselves smarter than those around them. They also sit on a lot of the medicinal power as they have herbs which can’t be found anywhere else (Or are only found elsewhere on the island of Beizen).
Avaruche is a country which is mentioned but nothing about its structure nor anything else is mentioned.
Ardia – or better known as the future or Arüideria. After Arüideria seize to exist due to Dachacine, Shuirin and Qutetish banding together, did a smaller population find themselves protesting. Thankfully to more and more countries becoming democratic did they get a chance of establishing the country they call Ardia. Ardia was to also put a final peace in Kanakaria by slowly talking to the citizens about creating rules and laws – well creating a democracy where the public could have power by voting yes or no to major laws which would effect everyone in the country.
