Liveblogging the Shaver Mystery

Chapter 1: City of the Titans

My impression so far is that of a 2010s CGI tween adventure movie. The main character is Muton Mion, apparently a lab-grown humanoid guy from the Culture-Forests of Atlantis that's really bad at painting, so his teacher suggests Muton go visit Tean City at the center of the planet and learn to mix brain-growth potions in the Hall of Symbols to get better, so he packs up his meager possessions and heads for the big city. The elevator operator gives him a cryptic warning before Muton steps into the city for a standard "a bunch of crazy-looking people whiz by and he is super impressed" montage, then he gets directions from a really hot six-armed lady on an interactive TV screen, and then when he gets to the art gallery he's befriended by a glittery purple pony lady that gives him a bunch of exposition that he halfway ignores because he's distracted by how hot she is.

MAN do I see why this captivated nerds in 1948, so far this is quintessential nerd fic right here; it's frankly impressive how openly and confidently he talks about how hot the pony-lady and the snake-lady and the six-armed giantess are. I'm guessing the people that believed him and Palmer's claims about it all being true "genetic memories" from a distant ancestor were the contemporary equivalent of the modern people that argue about Shifting on TikTok

You scribble for a bit, get a paragraph or two down, then beat a gym in Scarlet. You type for a small while, get a couple more bits of dialogue done, and kick a Titan and a Tean Star base down a notch.

You turn to the document, write out half the fucking drabble in one sitting, proofread, edit and save the post for one more quick readthrough in the afternoon, and realize it's almost 7 AM and you had written 2100 words for fucking fun.

I have not felt this in-tune with a planned plot in ages. This blog is practical fanfiction at this point. And as such, I give you ALL FULL PERMISSION to give me ANY criticism, positive or negative, that you can think of. Rose's adventure in Hisui has my brain VIBRATING AGAIN BAYBEE. Taking a few days to rest helped SO much.))

Ohhh god thats hard. Mainly bc i havent had the time or attention to watch either. From the clips ive seen though, id tentatively say YJ!Robin since he seems older and is actively being trained by Batman at the time. The stakes also seem. A lot higher. TT!Robin in comparison only ever makes vague references to Batman, and while skilled, seems younger than his counterpart.

Again, ive never watched either though, so i cant definitely say who would win...

Okay but I have thoughts on superhero community betting pools, okay? Okay. I know this is the kind of stuff everyone has a headcanon for, so this is my time to spill some of the DC Alpacanon.

So what I'm thinking is basically betting pools had to be regulated after "The Incident."

(I'm gonna stay adaptable to anybody here, personnally I have my own OTPs so my hc Incident is SuperBat getting together, but ymmv, so this event can be anything that would have most of the superhero community betting, like legit they would get Diana, J'onn fucking Jonzz betting, MERA BET ON IT, villains got in on it on the downlow, etc.)

Anyway The Incident led to WAY too much money changing hands. Remember that there are some billionaires in there, and Arthur decided to bet using Gold Bullions. There were also som many incidents cropping up as the bet got "settled": the betting sheet got stolen and accusations of mind reading, and cheating got thrown around. Fights broke out between teams, Dolphin had to sleep on Wally West's couch for some reason, Oracle stopped helping on comms out of spite, the Tean Titans had bet their fucking Headquarters with the Doom Patrol so there was this moving out thing...

It was a mess, the superhero community came this 🤏 close to calling in like… some Oa peacekeeper. A UN representative. Asking idk, fucking Lex Luthor to actually settle the bet (and that's how the superhero community knew it was too much because the villain community had also the same fucking bet running).

So after all this was said and done, rules were put in place:

Betting pools are limited to Team sized. Inter-team betting pools are made common (you win as a team you lose as a team) No involving villains. Betting sheets are held by one individual and the rota must be made official (for example by sticking it on the JLA fridge for the JLA, the game room TV ofr the TT) Intra-"family" betting pools should not spill over into Team betting pools. Magic users cannot "go on a quick trip" during a running long term bet (this after Zatanna used divination shenanigans to find out if 3 years down the road, Hal had finally had a threesome with Barry and Iris) If the bet runs on people's relationships, Telepaths are the bet sheet holders and can't participate

• My reference point for them always comes back to the fact that they came back from death having to learn everything from scratch. From the moment you are born your understanding of things grows with you. Agrippa has the brain capability of a 28y/o but who has only lived 3 years( brought back from death till now) trying to make sense of things. Emotions complicate those things alot. They do have them, just doesn't know how to express it.

•I imagined Agrippa having somewhat joyful and absent-minded tone despite what mood they are in. Which can be quite funny. Them being mad but they still sound the same as they normally do. Only difference is their vocabulary.get ready for confusing taunts, since they use alot of words to make new once to make up for words they don't know ( search shakespearean insults uwu)

•Very polite way of speaking, think starfire from the tean titans cartoon (2003) but less hyper

How do you think a quirk like jinx from tean titans would work. The inducing of bad luck

Here’s the weird thing about Jinx’s power of “probability manipulation”: while it is labelled as such, she never really uses it to change probability in any meaningful way. The most she does is shoot shiny, pinks bolts at people and objects that are then destroyed. At least that’s how it is in the show, so calling it probability manipulation is a bit of a stretch. If you want to have a power like that just shoots colorful beams, that’s fine. But if want something like probability manipulation, I don’t not think such a thing could work. Changing probability is just too broad and powerful to work as a Quirk.
