trigger warning // nazi history, misogyny

Shiv's reaction to Mencken breaks my heart :(
"Kinder, Küche, Kirche" is a German phrase meaning "children, kitchen, church" that was used during the German Empire to define a woman's societal role. It now carries a derogatory connotation and represents an outdated view of women in contemporary Western society. During the Third Reich, the Nazi regime prioritized women's roles as mothers and homemakers, promoting policies and propaganda centered around "Kinder" (children) and "Küche" (kitchen). Women were encouraged to stay at home and focus on their household responsibilities. Employment discrimination against women was widespread, with certain professions reserved exclusively for men. After World War II, the phrase continued to be discussed in feminist and anti-feminist literature, often criticized for portraying women's roles as limited and restrictive.

watching a tv series you enjoy when yan chrollo's in the general vicinity is a dangerous gamble.
on one hand, you get the much needed mental reprieve from your subpar circumstances. throughout the episode's duration, you lose yourself in the narrative and reality fades into an insignificant blur. it might not bring about tangible change, but it makes your day to day more tolerable.
then chrollo slides in.
you expect him to interject unwanted commentary and ruin the viewing experience — he doesn't. he isn't just creepily staring at you for the 22 or 50 minutes either. chrollo might not laugh and cry at the writer's behest, but he's engaged. if the episode ends on a cliffhanger he'll share his theories for what happens next. it's annoying because he's so unfairly engaging. if you aren't mindful, you could easily sink hours into discussing the various characters and major plot points. he gives you insight you never would've thought of yourself, listens dutifully to your contributions and genuinely cares about getting your input.
it's disconcerting. you wish he'd just be weird and keep trying to touch your thighs or something so you could know it's all a means to an end. your every thought holds such significance to him and this causes a flurry of uncomfortable feelings.

ken rome shiv dynamic in s4 is truly so insane to me. btw. in previous seasons their relationships were established as hostile, or at least competitive, so there wasn’t much holding them back. But s4 is different bc they start out attempting to be friends, which is both appealing/comforting to them, as well as restrictive to their ambitions. it was kind of!! excruciating!! to watch them stick bandaids on fractures that were forming between them (the “we’re sorry shiv” group hug in Living+…..) just so they could at least superficially maintain the Happy Healthy Sibling Bond, even as it became more and more ludicrous to uphold as they were drawn to prioritize themselves over each other, in increasingly betraying ways. they wanted to keep the alliance together, while at the same time shaping it for their own purposes. and they kept trying to do this, until it fell apart in their hands. Ooh my god. they loved each other, AND they wanted to express it, AND they openly admitted this.. but so what, if they would never prioritize it? if they were playing in a system where choosing it would never be the smart move? if there was only one crown and only one of them could wear it? they could never maintain any sort of meaningful action stemming from their love, so it made no difference that they felt it, and their gestures of affection were just gestures. idk… they’re sooo… i can’t wait to feel unwell about them for ever and ever

Apparently it's controversial to say that Shiv Roy is judged harsher than her brothers whose actions (including KILLING SOMEBODY) are often excused by fans and maybe we should be more conscious of that bias

The fact that some people brand team black as the feminist/pro women side on the basis of wanting Rhaenyra on the throne when they all let baela and rhaena’s birthright go to boys that aren’t even related to house Valeryon on the basis that lucerys and jace were the “male heirs” and when rhaenys tries to fight for her granddaughters birthright (just like Rhaenyra has to fight for her own birthright btw) Rhaenyra, the rightful heir to the throne that could lose it over the existence of her younger half brother, response is legit “baela and rhaena can marry my illegitimate sons, and then their SONS can one day inherit driftwood too :)”
Enjoy whatever characters or “team” that you like but at least recognise there is no feminist side, good side or winning side
