A “techbro” is going to end up “making” something that you quite like, and in realizing it was made by a machine you will be put off. You weren’t duped. You care about that a human made it (and how), and you automatically assumed that was the case because it has always been

The concept of “art” has always had a humanity associated with it. It is inherently human. So it is not a failing to be put off when something is revealed to have very little humanity behind it.

Likewise, it is not a failing to not care either. When we view computer generated images we are still receiving it with our human eyes. We will feel something. And if that alone is important enough to you, that is okay, and you are not bad because you can’t “tell the difference.”

This is a loud subject amongst artists because AI art is making us face things as artists that are uncomfortable. It is putting a megaphone on the quiet conundrums that have always been difficult feelings to process. And a lot of them are about commercialization.

You can downplay the quality or humanity of AI art forever, but some of the real problems here are the fear that people will lose their jobs to a machine that is mimicking their personal work, or have their non-commercial work used to influence commercial work in a violating way.

These concerns about AI are very human, and are valid. I feel it is very important to have these discussions because they will shape how we interact with this level of computer technology in the future and possibly make policies to mitigate potential human rights issues.

There could be a day where art AI will be so good, so plugged in to every level of surveillance capitalism, that an art AI could fill your entire day with content. It would be capable of making a feed that is so LASER focused on your interests, that it will be used to control you

That sounds a bit Brave New World, but the idea that a small brick in your pocket would be able to deliver you an ad for something you talked to your friend an hour ago about is happening right now. More often than you want to know. And it’s only going to get better at it.

I know as an artist it is very easy to let someone saying “we don’t need you anymore” get to you. Especially if they are also using your art to teach an AI. An artist’s life is typically filled with a lot of rejection and devaluing. But keep your attention on the real horrors.

Conversely, AI technology could potentially speed up a lot of very boring/time consuming processes. As a tool it could allow production times on shows or other forms of commercial or even personal media to be vastly reduced, making room for more production.

As artists we can use tools like these to teach AI about our own art and use it to do menial work that would normally take days. There is a world where we can ethically use these tools to help make better art, and make our jobs as working artists better, and more fulfilling.

But using and accepting these tools requires being clear about what is and isn’t acceptable use of them, and that comes with policy; personal, corporate or otherwise. Policy that you have the ability to speak up to those in power about.

Decrying AI systems radically as a purely evil creation is really counterproductive imo. Those that see the benefit of having these systems as tools will become frustrated that they are being demonized for ethics that don’t apply to them…

…and that kind of demonization has the potential to influence these people to be radically opposed to the abolition of it, unintentionally supporting the really really horrible shit. We have to be okay with a certain level of usage.

We need to be clear about what it is about AI that is potentially harmful, and not just bully weirdos who want to make supergirl smut. IMO, like I said, the danger is its corporate potential to create content that will be used in order to manipulate people on an individual level.

For you, it may be copyright, or monetization, or consent, but I think it’s important to really consider what it is you’re fighting for, and fight for it in a way that will make a difference, instead of further radicalizing techbros on social media by mocking them being goobers.

In the same way oil companies get away with murder because they masterfully find more and more ways to get individuals to blame each other for climate change, I think this sort of frivolous discourse has the potential to let this sort of thing slip away from us in a big way.

There are a wealth of issues that I did not touch on and I believe so many of them to be valid, so forgive me if I seem flippant about some. But I have been on social media long enough to know how potentially devastating it could be to just broadly handwave AI.

The existence of AI is bringing to the surface issues that are not solely AI problems. It just exacerbates them because AI is/could be capable of speeds, workloads, and manipulation no human is capable of. Copyright or selling works based on others’… these are the real issues.

Lastly, I think it is important that we embrace our humanity. Will these AIs create better art than we can? There may be a time where we have to present a piece of art with “I made this without the use of AI” And while I do agree that may seem frustrating, I also find it profound

It IS important that you made a piece of art. Barring quality, medium, subject, or intent, the fact that a person made a thing is significant. And I don’t think making that more a part of the presentation of a piece of art is in any way reductive.

I hope anyone can apply that to the work they make today, or tomorrow. “I made this.” That is important. It may not look like this, or like that, or have these graphics or effects or whatever, but it was made by me, and that is important."

tbh there are many statements I've seen on art, AI, and its use to generate images, but Arin Hanson's tweet thread on it is the only one I've seen that's been the most comprehensive on the subject

• he doesnt have a big sweet tooth but he LOVES chocolate like can't live without it. if you're also a chocolate person, he'll buy your fav ones for you and lowkey judges you for it ("why would you like this one???? the one i like is wayyy better you should get those")

• he's most definitely a friend's to lovers type guy. he never really thought he would be, though. he's a hopeless romantic and falls in love with anyone and everyone BUT he's also, as mentioned before, more hopeless than romantic. he'll yearn for the person from a distance, so he doesn't really think that he would go and fall in love with his best friend, of all people. you fall first he falls harder type beat yk?

• he's kind of gives off this confident, cocky and kind of intimidating vibe about him. when you first met him you just knew he thought a little too highly of himself. but after getting to know him, he's super vulnerable and soft and actually tries to be close to you. his intimidating Mr. i-fold-my-arms-over-my-chest-to-show-off-my-biceps persona is just a front, like he thinks being that coccky guy will make people think he's like mysterious or something and want to be his friend/partner

• thinks VERY highly of you. asks for your advice on everything even if you might not be good at giving it, hed want to know what you, specifically, think

• he's an architecture major :D i know alot of people have diff headcanons of him doing pol-sci/law (which are all valid tbh i agree with those hcs) but!!! i think he chose architecture because he has the right amount of passion for it. it's the closest thing to art he can have. he loves art but he's also aware that it doesn't...pay well, neither does he want to loose his passion for art. hes heard one too many stories of people choosing art and regretting it because their passion for art is no longer just a passion. Jean's scared he'd lose his love for it.

• isn't really used to physical touch, and if you're a touchy feely person, he's a little surprised when you hold him for the first time. he quickly grows into loving your touch tho and initiates cuddles :)

• hes kinda super smart. like he scores really well in class and always has. not only that, but he's gifted athletically as well

• he's more of a listener than a talker, i think. hed initiate conversation, ask you about you day and let you take away the conversation. doesn't really mind if it's "all about you", but if you ask him about anything, he'd gladly talk.

• hes actually SO shy when it comes to actually doing relationshippy things. the first time you held hands as a couple and not just friends, he had a nervous breakdown. he couldn't even look you in the eyes when he asked you out on a date, even if it was just a casual movie night at home

• he's very organized, surprisingly. he's not a clean freak but he just likes knowing where things are. rarely rearranges anything because it not only frustrates the hell out of him, he'd also have to get used to the new arrangements.

• he has a fixed skincare routine!!! he had acne as a teenager so he started taking skincare more seriously. knows a lot about different products, and if you don't have a fixed skincare routine, he'd tell you to have one. if you have super sensetive skin (like me) and can't handle anytjing other than basic face wash, he'd remind you to wash your face every night.

• he also is protective of his hair!!! he used to have dyed hair, but it didn't go well. he TRIED to bleach his hair but failed and half of his hair came out :')) he never dyes his hair anymore but he does freshen up his mullet every now and then. doesn't let anyone but his mom and you touch his hair.

• asks you if you can help him with oiling his hair because he saw one of those tiktoks saying they work really well. if you're anything like me and are used to oiling your hair every week, you'd massage his hair and his eyes close and his entire body relaxes the moment your hands weave through his hair <3

• LOVES showing you off. either in little ways (by swinging your hands together while walking) or by literally making his entire Instagram page about you. all of his six posts (he rarely posts, but whenever he does it's all about you) have you in them. the cheesiest captions, too. if that wasn't enough, he'd have (y/n)'s with your fav colour heart emoji next to your name in his bio to let literally everyone know who he's with.

• he actually loves to cook!!!! as said before, he'd very organized, so i feel like he'd also be into meal prepping. he watched those aesthetically pleasing videos of people rearranging their fridges with ungodly amounts of plastic cabinets. his own fridge is sort of a mess becahse he doesn't know what goes where :') but he does meal prep, and sometimes even packs you lunches with lil notes

• speaking of notes, he's not really good at talking about his love for you. like he'd show it in so many ways but he can't say it out loud. not only does he get uncharacteristically shy, he's always had issues with saying the words "i love you" out loud, so he either writes about it or draws you <3 you'd find random notes and letters written to you, sometimes with just. a cheesy joke, sometimes he actually Tries and writes a whole letter for you pouring out all the things he can't say out loud.

• the start of your friendship, you two bicker alot. it's clear you care about each other, but he loves teasing you because he knows you'll shoot back.

• he wears really thin eyeliner on special occasions <3 he doesn't like bold looks, but he does like how subtly the eyeliner makes his eyes look different. if yiure good at makeup, he'd ask you to help him.

• has a plethora of diff hats tbh like he collects them like an addiction. he has a fedora and beanies and bucket hats and normal embroidered hats. he has so many it's concerning

• he's very good at driving. when the two of you started getting closer, he'd ask you on long late night drives, either for take-out or just to listen to music and talk. he enjoys your company while driving. if you usually have motion sickness in cars, you will never feel nauseous in his car. he drives very smoothly, not too fast and not too slow. he's kind of a perfectionist (not extremely) and literally screams at Connie to slow down when he goes even a little over the speed limit. he drives the whole time in every road trip.

• his fav dessert is cheesecake. his unpopular opinion is that they're the perfect ratio of sweet and savoury, crunchy and soft.

• hes one of those people to fall asleep anywhere and everywhere. on the couch, at the table, no matter how loud it is or how bright it is. he's a light sleeper and also a snorer. if you're cuddling together, he'd either lay on top of you or wraps not one but both of his arms around you. one under your neck to provide a nice neck cushion, and one draped over your stomach.

• he runs warm, which is both a blessing and a cruse. in summers, even if he'd want to cuddle with you, you feel the need to get as far away as him because he's just so warm. you'd wake up in your own sweat if you do decide to take the risk and let him cuddle you. in winters though, his warmth is very welcome.

• loves it when you hug his arm while walking. if you're tired and kind of lean into him, expect him to eat that shit UP because he loves your warmth as much as you love his. loves it when you lean into him or hug his bicep. even flexes his muscles for effect (you definitely tease him for that)

• is not a fan of thunderstorms, he kind of has bad memories. either from being left out while the ither kids play in the rain, either from the rumbling and the scary sound that comes with thunders that resembles the sound of his angry father or its just how inconvenient it is.

• his dad wasn't really in his life that much, always away on business. every time he would come home, he'd srot of criticize jean's hobbies :( his mom eventually seperated from Jean's father and started her own bakery, hence Jean's love for chocolates.

• he panics very hard when you feel sick. he jumps right into his mama bird genes and makes you a soup from either his mother's recipie or he'd call your mother and ask her for her own sick day recipies. he'd feed it to you and refuse to leave you alone until you've had your meds.

• he loves kissing your forearm for some reason. you loop your hands around his neck after kissing him, so it's the closest to his mouth. he turns his head slightly, closing his eyes as he pecks your forearm :3 it's kinda a weird spot to like kissing, but it's really endearing when it comes from him.

• he has a couple small tattoos here and there. two of the five he has have actual meaning whereas the other three are just for fun

• he wants whatever you want. if you want children in the future, he'd be there with you. if you want nothing but a large house and a couple pets, he'd love to make your dream come true. he's passionate and extremely good at what he does, and he takes pride in it.

Okay fuck it yeah I'm making the post idc abt backlash. First of all the hidden agenda fandom doesn't exist anymore so whos even gonna have an issue. But if you do feel called out um. Maybe thats ur problem idk bc I'm not aiming at anyone in particular here.

Anyway long ass ramble abt the tiny dead Hidden Agenda fandom below the cut

This is mainly something I noticed looking through the very limited amount of Hidden Agenda fics on ao3, but it's VERY obvious on there. The vast majority of fics on there are centered on Adam and Finn, which I can understand more since they have an interesting backstory and are well written characters, sure. But then you look at the others and the other characters that are centered are... Riggs and Calvary?

In the actual game ofc Becky and Felicity are the main characters. Both of them not only are pretty objectively interesting characters on their own, and even more so together. On top of this they have the most shipping potential of any two characters in that game, it's literally basically canon, it's not even subtext atp it's literally just text. NO other two characters have that amount of chemistry in the game, and yet there is a noticeable lack of gravey fics in that tag. And I'll stress again bc I know how defensive people got last time I made this kind of observation, I'm not pointing fingers or calling anyone misogynistic/racist/homophobic BUT. but. When the two mcs are women, one of which is poc, and they're implied to be lesbians, and they get sidelined by the fandom despite being the focuses of the game... it's kinda hard not to assume there's some kind of bias there.

And on another point, it's similar when it comes to supporting characters too. In a way I'm disappointed but absolutely not surprised that Adam/Finn is prioritized in fan works over Becky/Felicity, but when characters like Riggs and Calvary are also given more attention than them it becomes way more suspicious to me. Riggs is a fine character, I like him enough and I can see why others might like him more, but wbk he doesn't really have all that much relevance. Calvary is even more confusing bc he basically JUST exists to be a creepy misogynistic asshole and as unlikeable as possible. Thankfully I haven't seen him getting a lot of attention but the fact that I've seen him getting any that isn't entirely negative is... hm...

Now there ARE in fact male characters that can be both relevant and likeable: Tom and Karl. (I talk shit abt Karl bc it's a joke I started with friends, I'm gonna drop that for this post obv bc we're being fr here) these two are pretty obviously more relevant than Riggs or Calvary, they're literally Becky's partners (Tom can even replace Riggs' entire role lmao, and if he's replaced himself it's by Karl) and I'd say they're also both likeable characters on their own too. And yet I'm pretty sure I found maybe one??? fic with them in it? Probably should have mentioned this earlier but yeah, they're both poc.

So like... I feel like it all comes down to what Becky/Felicity/Tom/Karl have in common and then what Adam/Finn/Riggs/Calvary have in common. It strikes me as questionable. But like maybe I'm just an annoying snowflake though idk🤷‍♀️ /s

She sometimes uses the blood of her victims as paint.

In her apartment the place where she draws can be found some vials in which she keeps the blood there and she also has in different vials a different type of blood.

In the good ending, Finch finds them ( or whoever was searching her apartment to give her Terry as you mentioned in a post(?)

He is kind of disturbed and decides to throw them ( or give them to the medical wing?? I actually haven't thought of what he would do ) if you have an idea, pls tell

I think drawing with blood is really hard but since there are artists who draw with that kind of method. It would be cool if she does too. and impressive

I must've gotten distracted a critical moment the first time I'm so sorry HJKGFDS

I can kinda see gouge trying to paint with blood, but she probably wouldn't do it in her apartment. Blood has DNA, and that could be a huge liability if anyone realized it was blood used in a painting.

Also, I believe all types of blood (from the same animal) would be about the same to paint with. This isn't based on anything other than "all the human blood seems to flow the same." I'm not even a medical professional.

I ended up thinking about this one a lot so I'm going to put it under a Read More. It gets deeper (it's not deep, just deep-er) than it needs to, so far warning.

Dog blood seems to be slightly different, though. and BEFORE ANYONE GETS ALARMED my dog has been having health problems and it's involved some bleeding. He's mostly okay for now. But, dog blood in particular seems to have more blood per blood drop than human blood. That sounds really dumb, but hang with me.

Blood looks like a lot more than it is when it gets outside of the body. This is true for humans, as well. Blood's just Like That. Dog blood seems to be Worse in that regard. Though, for hopefully obvious reasons, I haven't tested this. It's just an observation based on a few incidents and a handful of bits of info about the human body.

Though I supposed, there's also the chemical aspect of it. Different blood types, even within the same species, might react different to various chemicals used in painting. I imagine Gouge might want to experiment with coloring the blood, too, and depending on who (or what) she got it from, the pigments might react differently. And there's also, like, finishes and I know there's paint thinner. I wouldn't be surprised if there was thickener too, for if your paint is too soupy. And it might be helpful to make her blood-paint thicker to paint with it.

I'm actually really curious what would happen if you tried to mix blood with some pigments, but not enough to try. I have no idea where I could ethically get that much blood. I don't think I can. I imagine trying to set up a blood drive for artistic experimentation might get the police called on me. I mean, I'd be very obviously asking people to give it freely, so it's not like I'd be doing anything illegal, it's just that people will probably freak out. I would probably freak out initially too tbh.

Not art-related at all but I've been (kinda) reading Komi-San Can't Communicate and I wanna post my thoughts on it since I like it (I do have some personal complaints though) but I have absolutely no way to put these thoughts out aside from here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Somewhat related but have you seen how weird some Komi-San fans are??????? Knowing the genre and all, I shouldn't be surprised, but still...i wouldnt want to share my thoughts with some fans either way

Forewarning, literally the only manga I was ever fully invested in was Mob Psycho 100 and I haven't even touched the Komi-San anime. It's also been a while since I reread the entire manga so my memory may suck, my apologies. There will be many paragraphs, my double apologies.

[SPOILERS FOR EVERYTHING UP TO CHAPTER 412]

Overall, I think the manga is really cute. I don't read manga that much but I'd still say that it very much fits the slice-of-life genre well. Maybe too well 🙂 but I'll talk about that later. It's a great manga to read for fluff and just to have a good time.

Side-note: I'll be talking about the one-shot for a bit and when I say "current" Komi, I really just mean Komi throughout her 2nd/3rd year.

First things first, I absolutely fell in love with the concept and the one-shot (...first chapter?). The idea of a character with crippling social anxiety slowly coming out of their shell with the help and support of others? Fantastic :D And jeez, the art style change is REALLY obvious once you look at the one-shot. Honestly, I really wish the entire manga kept it u_u the dead-inside eyes Komi had actually showed why everyone was so scared of her. Her cute-ified/chibi look isn't as intimidating and only shows that people were scared just because she kept staring at them (which is fair lol, but her original look makes more sense). Tadano, though... I would prefer his current look compared to his old one LOL. Style aside, I'm gonna talk about this specific little thing that truly made me binge this manga: the diner and hospital talk. Technically two scenes but they share one thing and that is that Tadana and Komi sit facing AWAY from each other. I don't think I ever really struggled with social anxiety but when I was younger, I had a very hard time talking to people while making eye contact. I know chronlogically that the hospital talk is before the diner one but as a reader (since diner scene is shown first), seeing that issue be addressed without it ever being directly brought up was just...really sweet. I understood it right away. Hell, even when it was noticed and brought up in the hospital talk, Tadano was such a caring person to suggest the idea of facing away from one another i straight up wouldve cried if someone did that for me irl moreonmylovefortadanolater— One-shot Komi is also pretty interesting because she actually IS able to talk, she just varies between saying very little to saying a lot. I'm no psychiatrist but personally, I felt that could've been more relatable BUT that's not a complaint because the manga isn't obligated to accurately portray every single thing about the disorder (especially since it's clear that this manga is focusing on being lighthearted so of course it won't necessarily go into the very heavy stuff). I find current Komi's trait of using a notebook to speak much more interesting but I was shocked on the relateability of one-shot Komi, haha.

Okay, now for the actual manga. I'll admit, I don't really have much to say in the beginning portion purely because I don't really remember much 🙃 The chalkboard scene was really cute but I'll just be saying that for any scene with Komi and Tadano alone, tbh. Komi and her reactions in social situations are mood as always. Tadano was a KIND, CARING, and LOVING lil guy and all he got was death threats smh. Yamai.

She's part of a bigger issue.

In general, I love seeing Komi and Tadano together. Together relationship-wise and also just simply interacting with each other. Their relationship is SO adorable and I always reread their pining moments :ↄ I understand the dislike for the trope of an extraordinary woman falling in love with Some Guy™ but I like it here because while Tadano truly is Some Guy™, he's a genuinely nice person and not even just basic-human-decency nice; he goes out of his way for people. He also sees Komi as a friend before all else, too. Like, yes, he finds her attractive and, yes, she is literally his girlfriend now, but they still share a lot of platonic moments together and just act like a couple of besties ✨

Manbagi is also a main character I can't help but adore. I found it fascinating that the love triangle, while still a competition, was lighthearted and friendly. I've personally never seen one portrayed like that so I'm really impressed! The love triangle showcased Komi and Manbagi's friendship so much that, despite not being a fan of OT3s, I genuinely just wanted both of them to date Tadano lmao and I truly believed that it would've worked out!!! I still do; all three of those characters have chemistry with each other! Anyway, love triangle arc aside, I'm happy that she's at least getting her happy ending with that one dude :)

Speaking of that dude, the side characters are cool. My favorites are Hiki and Komitani. I like the name puns and some side stories are pretty sweet (like with Hiki's). I forgor their names but surprisingly, I liked those two bitchy girls who "bullied" Komi (quotes because it wasn't that serious). How they acted towards Komi and the reasons why they acted that way (AKA their assumptions about Komi doing it for attention or whatnot) was a nice change from the standard character reaction towards Komi. Yeah, they were still dicks and I especially didn't like how everyone quickly forgave that one tsun (?) girl, but they were a refreshing deviation from status quo. Those good examples aside, there...are a lot of side stories to the point I get tired of them :U I mean, I assume that's just a genre thing because I have read other slice-of-life manga before but would drop them because the side stories were too much >.> Clearly, I didn't really drop this manga since I'm talking about it but 400+ chapters feels like a lot to me (especially when a good portion of those chapters are side stories) and it's still ongoing, which I typically wouldn't even touch since I like endings to a story :u It feels like trudging through mud sometimes but I gotta get through it or I won't see my favs Komi and Tadano ✊😔 The side stories really would've been a dealbreaker if not for those two.

Ah, and finally: sexual fanservice. God, I hate it so much. Both, in the manga and in general. I hate how it's prevalent in so much media, I hate how it is used as a tool to attract audiences, and I hate how it works in attracting those audiences. Yes, the manga has many, many instances of sexual fanservice but I've just accepted that I can never escape it. Yamai and her sexual harassment. Close-up shots of teenage chests. Hiki being a literal middle schooler at one point. Almost every character's sexualization of Komi, no matter their age. All make me disappointed, but not surprised. You gotta make money somehow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I am surprised that Tadano and Komi's relationship isn't sexualized all that much. Maybe I missed some things but the only sexual things I can recall are the "Tadano unlocked a new fetish" moments (which happens only twice? Thrice?) and other characters asking/teasing on how far they've gone. I like that. It makes their relationship very wholesome and also reinforces the fact that Tadano sees Komi as an actual person.

Kinda related to fanservice but I very much dislike the current art style. Y'know that meme of anime girls being compared to pugs? That's exactly what happened to Komi's face. Why is it so scrunched up??? To be fair, this applies to every character so I guess there's consistency... Her sharp edges in her hair are kinda jarring, though, because she has these really detailed eyes but her face is small and her hair, although detailed, is a geometric shape and all of these factors do not look good together. I'm fine with Tadano's design because it gives him personality, which...may or may not be a good thing, character-wise? Like, yeah, he's supposed to be some normal guy and all, which his original design perfectly portrays that bUT ITS SO BORINGGG. I like his sharp edges! It's better on him since he isn't as detailed as Komi. Anyway, I say this is related to fanservice because, while yes, this art style is much easier to draw with than with the old style, Komi's prominent eyes and tiny face surely must've been influenced by some other factor other than time management :U but that's just my theory. Final note: this art style kinda ruined the Tadano confession scene for me a bit because the close-up of Komi's face was...not good, imo.

One last thing: YAY THEY KISSED!!!!!11!°!! When I stopped reading, I stopped at the end of the Kawai arc since I do not like being left on cliffhangers and there were only some chapters left at the time. I heard about the kiss scene at Chapter 411 and so, I only read the chapters that led up to that scene instead of picking up where I last was 🙃 I have some thoughts. Why is Kawai trying to insert herself into Komi and Tadano's relationship. Why is Kawai's family weird. Why...is Kawai even here lmao. Komi and Tadano are adorable, though <3

My final thoughts are that it very much is a slice-of-life manga. Nothing revolutionary, I think, but that's fine! Watching the relationship grow between Tadano and Komi was the main thing for me and now that they're officially together, I'll admit, I'm not all that interested in the story anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I know the main goal of the story is for Komi to overcome her social anxiety and make 100 friends and I do like the development of that goal, but...eh... I remember seeing a comment in the subreddit mention that they wish the goal was changed so that the quality of friendships mattered over quantity and I agree. The manga does emphasize that Komi has made meaningful connections with some of the friends she made (Tadano, Manbagi, Kawai...I assume? Didn't read LMAO) but that's the thing: it's only some friends. Her other friends are side characters that have their own side stories which may or may not be boring. They're not as fleshed out as Tadano or Manbagi nor do they share the same impact. Sure, a mean character may push Komi to stand up for herself once or twice but there's no revolutionary moment within Komi compared to her moments with Tadano or Manbagi. To be fair, those small moments with side characters do build up for Komi but my point still stands that Komi has friends that are much closer than the rest. Because of that, I just feel like Komi already reached her goal 🤷‍♀️ She has Tadano, her #1 support system and friend, along with other friends that played a role in her development. She doesn't really need more friends, since the friends she has now are already caring and considerate. She was able to form deep relationships despite her communication disorder; I feel like that's a great ending. And I know, ending a story when the main couple gets together is cliche and there'd be no kiss scene if that did happen but I'm just saying!!

I want to try something a bit more challenging for me, so I'll try to make both a piece of writing (>1000 words as required by the event) and a piece of visual art (probably a moodboard but will depend on the inspiration) related to that writing, what do you think about that ?

When it comes to biases, please tell me I'm curious ! I can write for whoever you want, as I love all of them. I can even write for Luhan and Zitao, or include them if that's something you like. I also had an idea : I can broaden my perspectives and write about anything related to the EXO members. For example, I can write about any character that has been portrayed by Kyungsoo, or Chanyeol, or Junmyeon, or anyone else, because it has rarely (ever ?) been done ! So if you fell in love with any character that they have portrayed previously in dramas, I can do that too, because I have watched most of the things they have featured in.

My country does not show many Asian movies but I have lived in New Zealand for close to a year and was able to see, while there, both Kyungsoo's The Moon and Yixing's No More Bets in theaters, I was so happy !

Why can't dogs just walk past me?

I just realized I never made a proper Tumblr post about this, just one on Facebook, so my updates about random poochies might be confusing. So here is my recent dog problem that doesn't seem to make much sense.

It started about 2-3 months ago, this thing where dogs just can't ignore me. They usually just want to smell me, or bark at me. But sometimes they also pull at their leash to get to me (while barking), which often seems to surprise their owners, when their 9 year old senior citizen suddenly does something unexpected.

I'm not entirely sure what to count as "aggression" but I don't count barking as it, but leash pulling I do? Is it? I haven't yet had growlers so I don't think the attention in general is aggression or cause for aggression, just attention. I don't make them wary or angry, just noticed.

Also, this has been ALL the dogs, since about February. There is no normal dog for me anymore, they all want to know me. And before this, I did just fine as a normal pedestrian, ignored by 99% dogs.

I'm not a dog person, but a cat person. And by this I mean, I like cats and dogs and all animals but I only know how to read cat body language. Dogs are more of a mystery to me. But it's never been a problem since I rent and can't even own a dog. So I've had cats. Or more precisely 2 cats. One lived to be 18 and the other is still kicking at 20 so... That is my experience. Also, I know enough about animals, that since my two were rescues with social issues, they ARE my only cats until they're both gone, no matter who needs a new home. I'm not that sentimental about animals, while also being the biggest softie, I guess.

Anyways, I'm not that familiar with dogs. But also, I'm not afraid of dogs, or uncomfortable around them. I like dogs, I just don't know what makes them tick, deep down. But I never mind meeting a dog and usually we get along fine.

AND for those thinking "well you yearn for a dog so you must initiate contact all the time!" No. I don't. While I like dogs, I'm not into unfamiliar dogs and petting every random animal that comes my way. I don't look and stare at dogs or pay any noticeable attention.

...well at least I didn't before. Now I kinda feel like I need to be aware of them at all times, if for nothing else, than to avoid an upset owner blowing up at me. But that is because of this issue, not the cause of it.

I have some veterinary professional friends but they're all cat specialists so all we have kinda deciphered that it is probably my smell, maybe. Something about it does it. It's not in my behaviour.

I haven't had any new medications recently, only things that have changed is that I've had to take ibuprofen multiple times per week lately, which is not good for my body and does cause negative reactions (stomach first but also liver in long term), and I have a new bodywash and lotion from Spain, that are not unscented. Mild, but not unscented.

Also, my upstairs neighbour has a new dog. It's an untrained and angry puppy (that should be taken away by animal wellfare agency tbh) and with the lack of insulation, my apartment basically shares the same air as the upstairs, so that is also an option, I guess? Even if it sounds odd.

Also, my cat, the one still left, does not live with me currently and I've last seen her in March. So it's not cat smell either. It's not her or her "shit box".

Anyways, this is my dog problem of recent times. If anyone has any ideas then I would love to hear it.

Speaking of what if scenarios with the skrulls, do you know if there will definitely be a season 2 of what if where we might finally see Gamora's episode? I'm beyond glad she's not a skrull but I do hope for a tiny bit more content for her and I think What if would be the way to do it.

And since you posted about merch before do you know if there have been any updates or information released on Gamora getting more? I have mostly resigned myself to her never getting anything else but part of me is still not comfortable with this and I'm hurt they brought her back only to ignore her this badly. I know vol 3 should have done better but she was still there and had more of a role than some characters. They act like she didn't exist or was only in one scene. I think I remember seeing Taserface get a funko after vol 2 and he definitely had a smaller role than Gamora has in vol 3.

so it's been previously reported that what if was greenlit for a s2 and s3, and last year at sdcc marvel announced that we'd be getting what if s2 in "early 2023" (this announcement is still the pinned tweet on the what if twitter account, even), but it's kinda fallen to the wayside bc of disney/marvel re-evaluating their content output on disney+ this year. like you know how a bunch of streamers have just been randomly deleting shows and movies over the last couple months? the companies are trying to save money by reducing how much streaming content they're hosting, so i think that's what's been delaying what if s2. i wouldn't be surprised if s2 (and maybe even s3) is already completely finished and disney's just hoarding the files and biding their time, just to be fucking annoying, frankly

on the gamora front—yes, it's been confirmed since s1's release that there's an ep featuring her that was missing! the gamora we saw in the guardians of the multiverse was supposed to be in a tony-centric ep that had to be delayed due to covid:

i haven't personally seen any updates about gamora getting vol 3 merch on any of my social media feeds, but i've seen some of the funko collectors on reddit speculating abt another wave of vol 3 figures that she could be part of or something. but now that we're nearing 2 months post-vol 3, i honestly don't have high hopes for any new merch featuring her to come out :/// esp with marvel now seeming to have shifted focus to secret invasion (which just started releasing on d+ today), i'm not rly expecting any new anything in general on the gotg/vol 3 front tbh

Girl, you guys are too sensitive when it comes to Buck. NO ONE is bashing him, it's all about feeling sympathetic towards Eddie and the position he's in / his point of view. But then again there's always been a MASSIVE favoritism towards Buck over anyone in the fandom, leading you guys to become misogynistic and apologists of tbh shitty behaviors. Like Taylor? Yeah I never liked her at all, but that shit that Buck pulled with her? Fuck no. Season 1 Buck? Fuck no. Buck has really grown as a person, we love him, but the majority of you have a favoritism that's always been based on attraction and it shows on the way you speak and showcase your opinions.

Usually starting a sentence by "you're too sensitive" is very much used to gaslight someone so, heads up, I'm likely not gonna take what you say afterwards very seriously. Ok so either you haven't seen the numerous posts I'm talking about and you took it upon yourself to speak for everyone or you don't know what bashing is. Either way not the best look for you but I have seen many (stopped counting at around 50 posts) talking about how Buck is an ass for daring to say that to Eddie. Not "poor Eddie's been rejected" but very much "Eddie deserves better than someone who doesn't appreciate him" posts (I've literally seen at least a dozen variation of this sentence), often followed by people using that as a proof that Buddie is toxic actually. And just generally very little critical thinking involved and changing the whole scene to mean what they want.

There might be favoritism toward Buck. Probably, most likely tbh. I mostly follow buddie blogs with either a buck or Eddie focus and other more general blogs with no focus at all. Buddie's the most engaging part of the fandom and the funniest for me in general. Because I follow Eddie girlies as much as Buck ones I don't see the difference and I generally don't venture too far away 'cause Chim is my favorite and I've seen too much racism when wanting to look for him so I stopped venturing too far off the fun people who make meta that seem a bit too much but are still enjoyable.

Now even if I personally didn't witness it because I've curated my own experience on Tumblr and don't interact about 911 on any other social media, he's the young White Adult in a fox procedural. So I'm not surprised there'd be favoritism towards him in a mostly American/western fandom. I've just been talking about this specific situation because it managed to hit my recluse corner which is a feat in itself.

Now that also doesn't matter in this case. Like there being favoritism in general doesn't change that there has been bashing here. If you don't care about it or feel vindictive about it then good for you but that's clearly not my case. That's why I avoid it in the first place.

Now I'm probably biased because I've curated my experience but as far as I'm aware, most people don't like season 1 Buck ? Never seen someone who loved this side of him. Because he was the youngest and most immature, it's easy to focalize on him if you like long ass development, but that's it. And most ppl who talk about s1 talk about it in a "look how much he grew" way so I have no idea why you're bringing it up?

As for TK, you can despise her without it being related to Buck. I personally found her appealing as a character, but the same way I find villains appealing. I very much loved to hate her. The woman does not care about others and will step on them to get what she wants even if she violates all moral ethics and loved ones to do so. You can dislike what she did to Buck without caring for Buck, like in a collateral damage way. But I get people absolutely hating her (I draw the line at mysogynistic behaviors which I luckily mostly avoided but I don't doubt they were there). Buck was an ass yes but he felt guilty about it and also learned and grew from it ...still is learning from it actually. That's a huge difference in my book and probably others. There are no unproblematic characters, just characters willing to be better and those which aren't (relatively speaking since it depends on what the writers find problematic). I mean Hen cheated on Karen (which I still do not comprehend in the slightest), Bobby is linked to the death of his kids, Eddie abandoned his child for years. Chim is the one who did the least problematic thing in general because he's the one with the most empathy and the closest thing I can think of is punching someone he loves when distressed and panicking about someone he also loves. And I've heard Chim got a lot of racist shit from it and while I have no doubt it's true, my curated experience means I didn't have to deal with it.

As for your last point, I happen to be aroace and I'm the kind who only understand what attraction means as a very abstract concept. (I especially don't think muscles are all that interesting but I'm happy for the people who like thirsting over big muscles).

And so like...yeah I've seen people thirst over the actor (as much as Eddie's), but thinking that people who are basically just talking about media literacy and "how the fuck are there enough posts that they ended up in my circle that's usually undramatic as fuck", are doing so just because they're attracted to the actor seems a bit bad faith.

So maybe the bashing only happened in this corner I thought would prevent me from seeing character bashing and needless drama, but it's still happened and it went from funny memes (which I liked and still have queued) to literal tirades of how Buddie is toxic and Buck is the worst. That wasn't me exaggerating, they literally said stuff like that. Which is a terrible take, like how do you even get to this point. Ignorance moment on my part my bad 🖐🏼 I should've stayed in my lane. I use multiple MAs but I main cane and wheelchair so that's my experience, and we don't have the same body and I haven't even gotten my own crutches yet so it's one of the few mobility aids I don't have personal experience with--thank you for bringing this to our attention and for also acknowledging the impact your accessibility needs have on other people bc sometimes those things just don't line up for lack of better word and I think that's important to talk about (ie. You Need to press the button with the end of your crutch while at the same time a wheelchair user would need to press the button with their hands) someone also mentioned their service dog pressing the button as well as concern for their hands being dirty due to use of their wheelchair in their area which was Also important to learn about and to be aware of both for compassion + solidarity reasons but also for personal safety! We all share the world so tbh I do think it's just more responsible for everyone to just assume someone's touched the button with something that touches the ground regardless bc I feel like we're all painfully aware of the Pandemic Button Stomp™ (you know, when COVID first broke out and people who normally wouldn't even use the button were stamping it with their shoes to avoid getting COVID germs on their hands), but also now we know there's also people like you who aren't doing it out of ignorance or bc they don't care, but out of necessity! I think the answer is hand sanitizer and better automatic doors bc. Them shits do be closing fast as fuck for no reason AND there's obviously a flaw that needs fixing because the button is only accessible to the bottom of your cane and we have the means to not have that be a problem for you and others (apparently there's sensor ones?? But double apparently they don't work super well. My personal favorites are the kind of automatic doors they have at stores like walmart where you just walk in front of them and they open and Stay open until you are through bc then it takes opening the door yourself totally out of the equation, and you don't have to worry about the door closing on you as much, which for me, as someone who is notably impacted by the germs on the button, and for you, who isn't adequately accommodated by THE accomodation button; seems like the most inclusive way to grant people access through a threshold)

So yeah! It wasn't my intention at all to imply y'all were bad, but that's kinda what happened anyways by a total oversight on my end. can we talk about them using the most tired stereotype with vickie of her dating a guy and then ooooh falling for a lesbian and knowing stranger things she'll probably go back to a guy or out robin or something because fuck queer people in hawkins apparently. several ppl on reddit said they thought at first vickie was about to say a slur and tbh i get why, and at this point i would've preferred her being homophobic instead of her being what will end up as a homophobic stereotype

Oh god the slur thing wasn't just me 💀 the odd way she was staring at her made me brace myself for her to spew some homophobic bullshit. I've been scarred before (in real life too but that's not what this post is about) so I wasn't pleasantly surprised when she wasn't a massive homophobe.

But I kinda disagree with the rest of what you're saying? No offence but she's clearly meant to be bisexual to me and she's dumped her boyfriend so she's very much open at that point. And I don't know if she's going to end up with a guy in S5 because I obviously haven't seen it, but they're setting up a relationship with her and Robin so I feel like they're gonna be endgame. I'd also rather she's not a homophobe. I think she's going to realize she likes women as well as guys and date Robin which I don't find to be a homophobic stereotype and I'd rather get wholesome sapphic rep than her being a homophobe. I will be annoyed if she doesn't date Robin and turns out to be straight, but I really don't think that's gonna happen.

So far we just don't know enough about her to make a judgment. Right now she feels a little bit like she has the personality of Robin and that could get a little boring. They could've made her a popular girl or alternative or just not a clone of the only other sapphic character in the show. And to be honest, I'd have much preferred bi Nancy but as I've said before, they do not know how to write her character without getting men involved somehow. But because Vickie has so little screentime, I'm not gonna judge whether she's a stereotype yet.

Seriously though, Vickie is not established at the moment. Whenever I make posts on her, I tag it Vickie Stranger Things because we still don't know what her last name is. She had 2 seconds of dialogue in the whole season, so right now she does feel a bit like a token and not a real character. But I have some hope that that's gonna change in S5.
