At first blush, a bit of a clown, albeit a sultry one when they want to be. More than happy to play the fool. Lets you underestimate them, so you let them get close, and when you realize how deep you’re in it’s too late

So these FOUR chucklefucks, these four geniuses of humor and tragedy, hire a fucking Maestro of Sound Design in Taylor Moore to produce their home game. And everything is tighter. And even more immersive. And heartwrenching and hilarious and cozy and creepy.

Anyway, this team of FIVE people decide that they’re going to make one of the best podcasts currently airing and it’s only nine episodes in.

The gradual degradation of Brennan's costume in Never Stop Blowing Up is a common environmental story telling trope in 80s action movies where the main character get progressively more injured but doesn't let it slow him down as he keeps fighting.

In a horror movie, these injuries would be slowing the character down, putting them in more peril, showing weakness and anguish.

In Action, it (at least) borders on comical how little injuries can matter - as Brennan showed in the hospital scene. Action is defiance of and triumph over death, it's about feeling like you're insanely tough, a badass who can defeat and overcome anyone and anything (physically).

The art and make up team here are telling a story. This is a character who exists parallel to our main story who is going through his own action journey, patching himself up when he can as he goes but bleeding through those bandages later as he rips a wound open that probably needed stitches but he doesn't have TIME to get a much needed blood transfusion, goddamnit, he's gotta get to the thing with the thing before the bad thing happens.

There's so many little interesting details unraveling in the story the make up is telling, like having one side of the body clearly have gotten exposed to an explosion. Meanwhile the cut on his left arm goes from open, to cleanly bandaged, to bleeding through the bandage. The latest episode brings us to the point in the movie where he finally just throws off the torn and bloodied dress shirt.

Which is part of action stories too, where the main character moves further and further from someone who was trying to be a Business Adult in the Real World before shit hits the fan and the battle can't be fought by a civilized man in a suit and tie, it's gonna get fuckin messy.

Erika and Aabria both deliver the most deeply spine tingling, rich, warm, sit down for a delicious bowl of cinema stew introductions and I liiiiiive for them. Steel not only chewed out the governor’s Citadel mage so hard she made her cry. But then she gave that poor woman an order that was basically “Haul your wall sized computer monitor TO THE JAIL LOBBY so I CAN YELL AT MY WAWARD ASS DAUGHTER in 5k”

One: I’m not sure if I was any of the three that I would be able to say anything more than “yes ma’am” “no ma’am” or “sorry ma’am”

Two: you can make a lot of arguments about nature vs nurture but I think we might have spotted where Suvi’s tendency to try bulldozing her way through problems comes from.

anyway here's the BLeeM GM costumes for episodes 1-6 of Never Stop Blowing Up, kudos to the make-up/costume team.

We got the 80s buttoned up big shouldered boss shirt & gold striped tie with a chunky gold watch

The greaser leather jacket, driving gloves, and aviator sunglasses (from here on out, removed in intro)

the double gun holsters over open dress shirt and A-frame undershirt with a butterfly bandaged cut over the eye, (which will remain the base look but gradually more fucked up/bandaged)

next, basically same but dirtier (and a lighter shirt instead of the darker stripes of the first one)

then, ripped sleeve over bloody cut and also some brass knuckles

last, shirt is now burnt up and more ripped (also looks thicker, more like a trenchy jacket, but maybe that's just me) cut on arm is bandaged. There's some make up "dirt" or soot/ash? Bloody make up along patch of hairline. 5 o clock shadow. Yelling into walkie. (eta he also is wearing one of the gloves in this ep, added a pic to show that below)

this last episode was absolutely stunning. beautiful and heartwrenching and terrifying and glorious.

i lay in the back of my mom's car with my headphones in and cried while eursulon yelled and ame and suvi fought. a tear got in my ear (not comfortable fyi). i was fully wrecked.

every episode that you release, i listen and think, "there's no way they can top this one. it's too good. they've peaked." and then, two weeks later, you prove me wrong. every single time.

i still have so much to look forward to. whether suvi will divulge what she learned from her identify spell on herself (!!! absolutely incredible scene). if eursulon will start calling suvi by her name again instead of calling her sky (!!!!! BRILLIANT character move) and what he might say to her, considering his own feelings about the citadel and what morrow did to naram. what ame will do now that the majority of the coven has voted to join the stranger in black and she and indri have voted no (!!!!!!! i KNEW hakea would vote yes and i STILL love her the most out of the coven of elders [aside from ame]). the true motives of mirara and her king under stars (!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? they intrigue me). the story keeps expanding and keeps getting better.

aabria, lou, erika, brennan, and taylor, you have made a world and a story that has enchanted me entirely. if there is magic in this world, you have embodied it. thank you so much for what you create.
