Tumblr media
"Stock theater". Did that term become passe?

Title change says "yes".

LIBERATION: A MUSICAL THAT ALMOST WAS
In memory of Betty, we tell the story of #Liberation. #theater #musical
On Sunday my friend and the composer of the Liberation music mentioned below sent me a text: “Happy birthday, Betty. 75” She has been gone for many years now, but her hard work and dedication to our play were not forgotten. The following previously appeared on the SERENDIPITY website. “Just imagine how awful we’d feel,” I told Betty one day, “if we got to the end of our lives and never produced…

There’s such a sense of community that comes with (fill-in-the-blank movie) summers. I feel like Top Gun Maverick summer and Twisters summer are so iconic and kind of go hand in hand and they should be the blueprint. We need more summers like these. I think that each summer from here on out, we need to have a big summer blockbuster with a relatively big cast and attractive people and high stakes and at least one new song in it. Also Glen Powell needs to be in it. Glen Powell does not have to the main character or even your favorite character. He just needs to be in it. I don’t know why

I support small fees for things that should probably be free because it keeps human refuse away. A park near where I live was once free to the public and you couldn't even drive by without seeing litter everywhere, whole park was covered in a haze of weed stick and vague booze smell, always some group of racially ambiguous 19 year olds hanging out in the parking lot scaring off the elderly. About a year ago they started charging $1 (ONE WHOLE DOLLAR) to enter and its like I moved to fucking marthas vineyard. ZERO litter, no more 24/7 skunk stank, I don't even bother locking my car half the time, you can actually see wildlife walking around in the park now, it's wonderful. I don't know what it is about literal pocket change that scares these cretins away but if that's all it takes then I'll happily spend a dollar for a few peaceful minutes at the park.

X-Men doing Karaoke
Jubilee sings Fireworks because of course she does. Complete with special effects. She’s pitchy but makes up for it with enthusiasm.
Scott and Jean duet Summer Lovin because they are disgustingly in love. Scott is only mostly coerced into it. He’s a decent singer. Jean not so much.
Hank does Ice Ice Baby. It’s the only point in which he grabs the mic, though he still sings along with the others without a microphone.
Warren and Bobby do a terrible but really funny rendition of I Want It That Way.
Storm puts on Mr. Brightside and everyone chants along to the lyrics.
Remy sings a song by Indochine for fun and/or serenades Rogue with a French love song.
Logan for the most part does not participate, just drinks his beer and judges all of them. Not for singing but for their singing like: Scott came in late. Jean’s off key. Remy breathes too loudly between phrases.
At the end of the night after too many beers, Jean gets fed up with his internal monologue of criticism and forces him to sing. He does a beautiful rendition of Kitaguni no Haru that makes Rogue (the only one who kind of knows Japanese by virtue of having absorbed Logan’s knowledge of it) nearly cry.
