^^^This is an actual picture of what you will look like listening to the Pursued by Bear Podfic !!!
Tenmilestilts made a podfic for my fic Pursued by Bear.
Please note, it's a small Steve in the story, and he wears suspenders and tweed jackets. This is not a picture of the Steve in my story, again, pay attention, it is a picture of YOU and you are listening to the podfic.
Do you hear screaming? Oh that's me screaming.
Description of story:
“Come, woo me, woo me, for now I am in a holiday humor, and like enough to consent."
I saw a tweet about a UFC conference happening in the same hotel as a Shakespeare Conference and then hoped someone else would write a Stucky fic about it, but then I accidentally wrote it myself. I'm not saying who is attending which conference, but I am saying that Steve wears a tweed jacket with elbow patches.
May contain: Shakespeare quotes. I don't think there are any triggers, besides like, smuttiness. Wait. Someone gets druuuuunk.

Time Loops Rec List: 2024 Edition
It's Groundhog Day, which means it's time for my favorite Marvel time loop fanfics from the past year! See this post for the November 2022 and February 2023 picks.
(why I posted the first Groundhog Day list in November is a mystery even to myself)
god loves everybody, don't remind me by napricot (Gen, Mature, 70,381 words)
Summary: N'Jadaka didn't believe in the gods of his people. But belief was not a prerequisite of the gods' attention, and the blood of the Panther tribe ran in N'Jadaka's veins. Bast took hold of his soul in her mighty jaws and lifted it free of his body. She gave him a warning shake, just as she would a misbehaving kitten, and set him back. With one careful claw, she tweaked his path through time into a twisting loop. Wayward and abandoned though he was, N'Jadaka was still of her tribe. He could set things right, if given the chance. Erik gets a do-over. Erik gets a lot of do-overs. Or: Erik Killmonger's own personal version of Groundhog Day, only with a lot more murder, dying, trips to the ancestral plane, awkward family conversations, and divine intervention.
offer me that deathless death by canistakahari (@unicorncoalition) (Stucky, Explicit, 10,656 words)
Summary: Bucky dies for the first time in February of 1945, and then he dies again, and again, and again. It doesn't stick, but he can't find a way out, either. Also available as a podfic read by GhostCwtch (@ghostcwtch)
The rest are below the cut!
Exit Life by EiraLloyd (Stucky, Teen And Up Audiences, 11,346 words)
Summary: Bucky says, "Can I ask you a question?" and unravels his plans once again. "What is it?" "I don't— have all my memories back," he admits. "But there's this one day. I have… different memories of how it went. I don't— I think it's the same day. The same inn, the same train, the same mission." Steve feels cold. He feels colder than he did when he froze in the Arctic. "Do you—" Bucky hesitates. "Do you know why?" (Alternatively, the countless times Steve fails to protect Bucky from a guy in a metal suit and the one time he succeeds.)
Dead Man's Switch by emptydistractions, art by profoundalpacakitten (@emptydistractions12, @profoundalpacakitten) (Stucky, Mature, 20,335 words)
Summary: Steve has only ever wanted to help people. Maybe that's part of the reason why it nearly tears his heart in two the first time he watches Bucky die. He can't help but think of the 'what if's'. What if he'd been there sooner? What if he'd been able to stop it? By the five hundredth time he watches Bucky die though, the whole situation's really starting to lose it's charm. (Or: Bucky is stuck in a time loop, and Steve is accidentally along for the ride.)
Of things lost in time by erde (Stony, Explicit, 16,082 words)
Summary: The Time Stone beckons Steve with the promise of home. He ends up in Clint's farm, reliving the same day again and again.
The Last Time by mariana_oconnor (@mariana-oconnor) (Winterhawk, Teen And Up Audiences, 12,446 words)
Summary: Today has been strange and, considering the majority of Bucky's life, when he says strange, Bucky really means that. It's not one big thing that makes it strange. He's fought giant interdimensional squid monsters while standing on the shoulder of the statue of liberty. Things like that don't faze him any more. It's the little things that are making the back of his brain itch. All the little things that are starting to add up. It's that uncanny valley feeling: everything just a little left of normal, not enough for you to say exactly what's wrong, but enough that you know something isn't right. And he's pretty sure it's got something to do with Clint Barton.
ceaselessly into the past by shepherd (Stony, Explicit, 84,131 words)
Summary: Edge of Tomorrow/Live.Die.Repeat AU, following the movie. After earth is invaded by the Chitauri, Tony Stark is forcefully drafted into the military for a suicide mission. It ends up with him being inexplicably caught in a time loop that always seems to end with him dying horrifically. And, of course, the day was a Thursday- he had never gotten the hang of Thursdays. (please regard the tags for warnings- there are more explicit warnings inside)
double back by flowermasters (Sambucky, Explicit, 12,560 words)
Summary: Sam gets stuck in a time loop. In 1943. Things could be worse, but they could certainly be better.
Reason Number Four by hannahsoapy (Clint Barton/Phil Coulson, Teen And Up Audiences, 3,309 words)
Summary: On Monday, at 4:37pm, Phil dies in Clint's arms. And at 4:39pm, and 4:44pm, and 4:57pm... it's been a lot of Mondays.
#marvel fic rec#time loops#i read these over the past year#I don't think more than one or two were written that recently

hií 💗 for the ask game, what's your favourite fanfic of all time?
oh god i read in so many fandoms this feels like an impossible question dhjfjfdg i'm gonna cheat. is that okay? can i cheat? there's no way you're getting just one. sorry not sorry djbkndkjgbd
i guess if i'm answering 100% honestly, it would prob. be not easily conquered which, for those who don't know is a stucky fic and one of the most beautiful pieces of writing i've ever read. some of the quotes from this fic are seared into my brain and i fear will never leave me.
in the 1d fandom tbh it's still tif. i think to me tif is a perfect romcom. i've never read a better one. it's funny, its heartwarming, it's genuine, the miscommunication is handled very well and that quote that describes trying to explain something traumatic that happened to you young as 'like a fish trying to explain what water is' stayed with me for over a decade. it's exactly that. that's exactly what it feels like... i love this fic sm. it's just as good as everyone says and i think its criminal that some newer fandom peeps haven't read it. i can only aspire to be that kind of writer.
i recently went on a spuffy binge read ad discovered summerfrost's works and i have been in absolute awe of their characterization ever since. their writing knocked me the fuck out. nothing safe is worth the drive (follow you home) is prob. my fav but everything i've read from them has been a masterclass in character study.
the poet dean fic is another work that i think is a game changer. if you're remotely interested in deancas/spn this fic is stunning and it features original poetry by the writer that is just.... gorgeous. it makes me want to write poetry and god knows i am not good at that rip.
cinderwings is another spn fic that's ..... incredible. it's such a creative au that perfectly mixes elements from canon and from fairy tales to create something totally new that feels fresh and different. not to mention i've never read a character pov of a quote unquote creature that actually felt like i wasnt reading a human character. it's done so well.
four letter word for intercourse . its the best smut heavy fic i've ever it. its deancas. end of.
i recently started reading good omens fics and Demonology and the Tri-Phasic Model of Trauma: An Integrative Approach ??? w o w. just.... w ow. if you've read the book/watched the show and loved crowley just a little bit... read this. it's an outsider pov and it is so compelling, it's almost impossible to put down. which is a pretty herculean feat imo considering it's all through the eyes of a stranger. its basically crowley in therapy through the eyes of his therapist. incredible.
back in the old days i read a lot of merlin fics and the student prince still has SUCH a special place in my heart as a comfort fav... it's so funny and heartwarming. the perfect magical uni au. it also has an amazing podfic read by the author.
wastelands is probably my favourite star wars fic i've ever read. it's only 9k and ft just before the sequel trilogy leia crash landing on some abandoned world and getting help from a force ghost to repair her ship only to realise it's anakin. it's just.... a beautiful beautiful character study and a look into their relationship and it ties in with some kylo stuff.
you could dress this wound is a tsn fic where mark starts seeing pain as light on people and develops some empathy/starts seeing the world (and his relationship to eduardo) differently as a result.
best practices in workplace relationships is nothing special. except its heartfelt and funny and i've read it countless times over the past ten years. so many times. it's the assistant wardo fic. it's fun. i love her.
also anything that @helloamhere writes but ESP the anakin/padme/obi fic she wrote partly because of me.
i think thats it... like... off the top of my head today right now.
oh and i guess.... if it's not arrogant to say it ? maybe tts ? just... i'm very very proud of it and it's very special to me. i dont think its better than any fic ive listed here but it is one of my all time favs because it was a big labour of love from me.

Fic Writer Interview
I was tagged by @determamfidd, hello darlin’!
How many works do you have on AO3? 61
What's your total AO3 word count? 1,027,599
How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
My top 3 are Glee (when I started on AO3, but not when I started publishing fanfic), Tolkien (Main fandom for many years), and Star Wars (longest fandom) - but, I have others including fandoms in which I barely remember writing anything - mostly because they were crossovers, lol.
What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Old Man Luke
Comes Around Again
Ex Delicto, De Novo Ad Infinitum
An (un)Fortunate Haunting
Finding Comfort.
Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
Not usually, though I have on occasion. I used to be more prolific with it, but then Comes Around Again blew up and I couldn’t keep up. I always read them, however, and they make me smile.
What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?
Chapter 6/Day 6 of Changes. Spoilers, but it’s Legolas prepping Gimli for burial - but day 7 is reincarnation AU! They get their happy ever after, in every life. I don’t DO angst if there’s no comfort.
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you've written?
LOTR/Starsky and Hutch. Or possibly LOTR/Star Wars (which was inspired by another author, whom I’m not sure wants to be associated with it). I’ve also written Teen Wolf/Supernatural, but I don’t think that’s as crazy.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
I think most authors who hit a certain level of readership do, unfortunately. I’ve never been personally attacked, thankfully (save for one comment on a tumblr fic prompt idea that I had that accused me of stealing ideas, but I have no idea what they were talking about), but I get the “oh, this wasn’t to my tastes” or “ew, you chose this?/made this character choice?” kinda thing - mostly on Old Man Luke. There have been some *Debates* in the comment section about my interpretation of the canon - often making reference to parts of legends that I have no exposure to, like the video games. Weirdly, I’ve gotten a few that were mad that I used Old Luke from the sequels, even though it’s clearly a different take on what Old Luke could have been. *shrug*
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
yuuuup. Published in a book, even. That was M/F. In fandom, it’s mostly slash, occasionally het/MMF. I’ve written lesbians, but I’m not sure they’re anywhere readable these days, it was a while ago.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I’m aware of.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yep! I Know It When I See It is in Russian, and others that aren’t formally connected. And podfics, too!
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, some Trek fics with an author who has since left fandom as a whole.
What's your all time favorite ship?
I don’t have one that supersedes all others, but I do have one that will dominate each fandom. So, Gigolas is my favorite for LOTR. Quiobi for Star Wars, Stucky for Marvel, Mingcheng for the Untamed (my most dominant rarepair). But honestly, in most cases, if it’s well written I’ll read it. I’m not down for incest ships, tho.
What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?
I’m having a hard time thinking of what comes next for Two Weeks - that fic changes so much from the original idea. It was supposed to be a beach episode!
What are your writing strengths?
Um. I’m better at identifying weaknesses, but I’ve had people say that my writing is “professional” which - I would hope, considering my degree, haha. I’ve been told that I’m good at description and dialogue.
What are your writing weaknesses?
plot, setting, punctuation
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I tend to leave it in English if the pov character is supposed to understand it, as it helps facilitate the “you know what this character knows” thing. If they don’t understand, I don’t tend to write out the dialogue. That’s my preference: I certainly enjoy fic with dialogue in another language, especially Russian or Latin, as those are the two I studied.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
....Muppet Babies, the one from the 80s. I was in, like, kindergarten and just learning to write. It was in my journal. But, when I knew what I was doing was fanfic? Due South.
What's your favorite fic you've written?
Drowned in Moonlight, which was my tribute to Carrie Fisher when she passed, and Legacy and Finding Comfort, both of which were written in one sitting. However, I am a little in awe of what Comes Around Again has become, seemingly when I wasn’t looking. And Ex Delicto was fun, though if I wrote it today, I’d make it more clearly segmented.
I tag @piyo13 and @punsbulletsandpointythings and anyone who wants to do it!

Fic Appreciation Bingo - Squares Transcription
Here's the transcription of the Fic Appreciation Bingo cards squares. I've included links/explanations where possible or necessary. If you still have questions about it, just ask me and I'll do my best to help you. 😄
Default Squares
These squares will be present in all cards, to give more space to under represented/appreciated fics.
1 - WIP
Work in progress. Many of us wait until a fic is complete before we read it - I do this most of the time. It's understandable; who hasn't been burned by a fic we loved but was abandoned or never finished?
For this square, we're going to take risks!
Comments on a WIP encourage the author to keep going and finish their fic; or maybe to go back to a project they haven't worked on for some time.
You can even tell a writer that you really love their fic, even if it was never finished or they've abandoned it. 😊
2 - PODFIC
Podfic is an audio recording of fanfic, read aloud by a fan (or several). Podfics are not as popular as written fics, and that's a shame. There are some truly amazing podfics out there, lots of different styles, and they're all made with heart.
If you really dislike audio content, or can't listen to it for any reason, to fill this square you can find the podfic version of a fic you like, and leave a comment thanking the podficcer for making a story you like, accessible to more people. :)
3 - "Less than 50 kudos" & "Less than 30 comments"
These are there to assure we also pay attention to less known, under-appreciated works.
And the necessary Free square, of course. 🙂
Keep in mind that most of these are only guidelines & suggestions. Use your creativity and have fun! If a fill makes sense to you, it makes sense to me . 😉
Let's get to the first card transcription: the General Card!
General Card
Favorite fic
Your favorite fic. That's it, that's the square.
Multi-chapter
A fic with more than one chapter. That wasn't as hard as I thought!
LGBTQ+ QUILTBAG
One or more protagonists of the fic identify as members of the LGBTQ+QUILTBAG community. Any identity counts, as longs as **it is clear in the text**.
This doesn't have to be through romantic pairing; the character can be trans, ace, intersex, etc.
Fantasy & Sci-fi
Lord of the Rings and Star Trek vibes. Androids. Wizards. You know this stuff, so why am I still talking?
Angst
The dictionary defines angst as "a feeling of deep anxiety or dread, typically an unfocused one about..." Yeah, no. Sorry!
In fic, angst usually is about the characters and their feelings - about their romantic interest, their past, their past & errors, the challenges they face... They're uncertain about all of hose things, and probably their own worth.
Except, it also means the angst you, the reader, feel as you read about the character's trials and travails. Are they sad? You're wailing. That sort of thing.
On a second thought, yeah, deep anxiety and dread checks out. 😶
Oldest fic you've read
By publication date. If you read it yesterday, but it was published in 1997 and you haven't read anything published before that, it counts. 😉
Fluff
The opposite of angst! Everything is beautiful and nothing hurts. Sweet, happy stories with happy endings.
Animals
Dogs. Cats. Horses. Unicorns. Lizards.
Dog-walkers, cat-wranglers, unicorn-wrestlers.
If there are animals in it, it fits.
Favorite author
I know, I know. HOW ARE YOU GOING TO CHOOSE?!
You love them all, and so do I. But this is a hard game, my peeps. Hard, difficult choices must be made for the good of our fanfic bingo nation.
At least until you decide to fill this card again. 😉
Under 5k
Which means, no more than 4.999 words.
Nope, you can't go higher than that.
Nope, 5.000 words doesn't count.
Okay, how about this: if you find a fic with exactly 5.000 words, I'll give you a pass. 😜
Humor
A fic that successfully accomplishes what I've been trying to do with this text, I guess? 🤔🙈😂
Alright, alright. Anything that makes you laugh is good.
Food
All and any things related to food, cooking and eating! This is the square for those fics that made you hungry and burn with desire for a personal chef or cooking lessons.
Food bloggers. Cooking channel on Youtube. Bucky is an amazing baker. Steve is an stress baker. Chefs. Sommeliers. Dinners. Even pizza take-out counts!
First fic you ever read
I bet this is going to take you down memory lane, isn't it? 😄
If you don't remember it, or it's not available anymore, go for the first you remember that's still accessible.
Music
Millions of fics have titles based on songs, and sure, you can go that route. But there are other options! Bands. Musicians. Singers. Fics based entirely on a song, not only the title.
Stories where a song is really important to the plot or the characters. The protagonist works on an instrument shop or is a music teacher. So many possibilities!
Historical AU
Any period of time is valid: Victorian, Medieval, Middle Ages, Ancient Egypt... you get the idea.
Fair warning, though: if you come and say a fic set in the 80's is historical, I will hate you. The 80's were the last decade, you heathen! 🤨
Latest read
This is almost a second free square: the fic you read most recently.
New author to me
Fic written by an author you haven't read before.
Recommended to me
If you have friends who read and rec fics to you, great. If not, a suggestion from a rec blog like Epic Stucky Fic Recs @epicstuckyficrecs or The Stucky Library @stuckylibrary totally counts.
You can also ask me for a rec if you'd like! 😄
Sports & Games
Here we have the obvious like football, hockey, swimming, of course; but also Olympic skating, dancing, baseball, running, fitness, etc.
Fantasy football and MMORPG.
Video and board games. And even the Hunger Games if you wish!
Paranormal AU
Lots of fics that go bump in the night!
The classic vampires & werewolves keep company with ghosts, curses and unicorns (but only if you didn't use your unicorn fic for the Animals square! 😜), shapeshifters, wizards, witches and all kinds of supernatural things.
Who you gonna call?
That's it for now! Next up, Stucky cards & their squares!
#fabingo#fanfic#fanfiction#bingo#fic appreciation bingo#show your fic authors some love#fun#long post

For the reader meme: A10, B10, C8, D8! (Also I'd kind of want a complete list of C3s unless I've already filled my quota of qs with those first four haha) 🤗
A10, Who did you have your first fanfic-related conversation with? What was it about?
I wanna say it was probably @elleflies, since it was waaaaaaaaay back in the Buffy years and we’re both dinosaurs now.
B10. What is the best plot twist you’ve ever seen?
I can’t remember the last time I read a fic that was really plotty in a way that allowed for unexpected twists, if that makes sense. I feel like that was maybe something I maybe sought out more in early reading days in fandom days of yore.
C8. What is one plot twist you wish people would stop using?
Answered here!
D8. Which fandoms do you read fic for?
I have never been able to multifandom, so I really just stick to what I’m into at the time and as soon as something new grabs my attention, I pick up my things and go. Right now, it’s Elio/Oliver CMBYN, and Timmy/Armie RPF stuff. If an old Stucky fic I’m still subscribed to updates, I’ll sometimes dip in, but not like I used to.
Also I'd kind of want a complete list of C3s unless I've already filled my quota of qs with those first four haha (C3: Is there anything that makes you nope out of a story? What is it?)
Oh, jeez, this list is... so endless. My AO3 Savior is actually a savior. Um... off the top of my head: Pet names/epithets of any and all kinds, excessive weeping/crying, A/B/O, Mpreg, most kink!fic, OOC characters, angst without a happy ending, most kid!fic, most threesomes (I literally only care about the pairing I’m shipping), self inserts, song fic, podfic, demonizing characters/people unnecessarily, gen!fic (again, I’m really just here for the pairing), crossovers, ..... a bunch of random AU-themes (vampires, fantasy, medieval, sci-fi, etc - it would have to be really amazing for me to get into it and also have like... nothing from the above list), A COMPLETE LACK OF PARAGRAPH BREAKS, um....
There are probably more, but it would just be so specific and at this point you’re probably wondering how I actually read anything so I’ll stop now.
Fic Reader Asks! Do the thing, send me asks!

better know a fic author: Vaysh
in appreciation of our beloved fanauthors and all the great work they do for us, i’d like to spotlight our workshop participants!
today we’re talking to Vaysh!
find her at...
tumblr : @vaysh11 | ao3 : Vaysh | dreamwidth : Vaysh11
tell us a bit about yourself!
I'm from Berlin, Germany, where I've been living and working as an editor and translator for more than 20 years. (I moved to Berlin in 1991, pretty much right after the Wende.) Movies, tv-series, books and creative writing is pretty much my life. I have an M.A. in American History but even for historical research, I used novels and diaries as my source material. I teach creative writing and coach both published and aspiring authors. I've co-written professional (het) romances and I wrote four political crime novels as a ghost-writer.
when did you join fandom, and what were your first experiences with fanfiction?
I joined Lord of the Rings fandom in 2003, when Fellowship came out. I had not heard of slash or fanfiction before, and it was a life-changing revelation. I spent entire months reading Sam/Frodo and LotR fic. It was one of the best times in my life. :) One of my first experiences was contacting a fan author and finding out she lives in Berlin. We've become very good RL friends.
what fandom are you in now and what brought you here?
These days, Captain America fandom is my main fandom, and it's all Chantefable's fault, who insisted I watch the Winter Soldier. Stucky fulfils all my hurt/comfort needs, and I love the amount of historical stuff that is woven into so much fanfic.
what's your favorite fic of all time and what do you love about it?
Unanswerable. My favorite fic changes all the time. Right now it is cascades. by orange_crushed (@robotmango). It's an amazing AU-canon divergent novel with Steve returning from the ice in the fifties at its center. The writing is brilliant, the plot-twists intense and wholly surprising, and there is such a philosophical depth to the world that orange_crushed created. It's both deeply embedded in CA canon, and yet reads like an original fic. I've been reading it and listening to the brilliant 15 hours podfic for - literally - months.
what's your favorite fic you've written?
It's one of my oldest fics, from 2008, a Darry fanfic, called "We Are Legend".
what's a fic you've written that doesn't get the love it deserves?
This one, I think: "Agent Hopkirk Says I Love You", Drarry, as well.
what projects are you working on right now?
I am currently writing a Winter Soldier series, focusing on Bucky's time under Pierce, from Alexander Pierce's pov. And I have started writing seriously plotting and writing original fic, a steampunk novel.
what are your aspirations as a writer, big picture or small?
I want to write more, period. As for original fic: I want to finish writing a novel and sell it.

hey! i just read your stucky fic on ao3 and found your tumblr. are you gonna write more stucky and do you have a favorite stucky fanfic?
Oh, thank you for reading my fic! I'm glad you stopped by to say hi! I am actually working on a fic that will be a multi-chapter stucky au fanfiction right now. That should be posted within the next couple of days.
As for my favourite Stucky fic? Idk, I have so many that I've come across (if anyone has any good stucky podfic recs, please send them my way. I love listening to podfics and podcasts while I work.)
I'd say, right now, my absolutely favourite one, at the moment, is this gem:

Please check this one out, give it a kudos, and leave the author a comment! If you love the Idiots to Lovers trope, then you will love this fic!
