Today, I reflect on an essential lesbian-feminist text, one whose applicability to the modern struggle for women's and transsexual liberation remains both evidently clear--AND frustratingly obfuscated.

but fr outside of my contracted madness i absolutely refuse to give joe alwyn gold rush like how is that song at all related to their relationship the lyrics clearly spell out a relationship that either never existed or only existed in implication and fantasies and maybe-maybe nots and its so bitter and yet desperately soft in the bridge where it almost projects a sense of envy, of wanting to be them as much as you want them. It continues an interesting oft ignored lyrical trend of taylor wanting just as much to be her lover as to have them, envying their easy charisma (you were flush with the currency of cool/i was always turning out my pockets) or quiet dignity (your integrity makes me seem small) dating back to her earliest songs (the kind of flawless i wish i could be). Theres a projected self hatred and yearning to be better that twists itself into both romantic and sexual lust for her partners thats so fascinating and speaks to how all of her songs regardless of who theyre about are also an act of self reflection on who she is and who she wishes to be.
#barry.txt#taylor swift#putting this in the tags as a form of self protection but make no mistake this is a gay thing to do especially in gold rush#which through simple context clues is Obviously About A Woman or maybe even women in general#whivh is a totally seperate post on how taylor constructs and uses gender identity in her music#her girlhood and femininity are earnest but also so carefully constructed and so high effort and kind of desperate#shes a deeply self concious and obsessive person who never looks comfortable in anything ever unless shes#onstage or like. by herself in loose jeans and a tshirt#i think thats one of the things that subconsciously irritate ppl when it comes to her shes constantly and clearly putting in effort#to appear As The Celebrity Taylor Swift and struggles not to self censor or overperform in interviews (when she gives them)#especially present in pre 1989 interviews where the interviewers really didnt have to respect her or worry abt how they frame her#if they didnt want to. Like the fearless era rolling stone interview where she almost has a meltdown over her mom buying eggnog instead of#milk. That whole interview is strange looking back not just bc of the weird misogyny but also because of what it does share#taylor is....weird. She has a strange and desperate vibe and always reacts slightly too much and uses slang poorly#shes media trained and has learned how to socialize but you can feel her discomfort whenever she doesnt have a guitar in her hand#idk these tags have once again gotten so unweildy. i just find it interesting that she finally feels some level of comfortable#in sharing that construction w us in songs like mirrorball and mastermind and imo gold rush#and scene#should i write this up and put it in the swiftieism zine#i should write something and put it in the swiftieism zine

This 2019 castle house in St. George, Utah has been removed from the market. 8bds, 10ba, last year assessed at $5,052,900. I'm thinking that it hasn't sold b/c it's kind of cold and in some areas, creepy. Take a look at this one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at the sheer size of the vast grand entrance hall. Yikes! There's a TV over by the corner fireplace. Is this supposed to be a living room? Can you imagine the utility bill in this place?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The kitchen and everyday dining area. Wow, I wonder if that light fixture is a real Chihuly.
Tumblr media
The kitchen's huge and has sleek black cabinetry. I think that the area to the right must be for a dining room.
Tumblr media
Looks like a pantry.
Tumblr media
The laundry room is like a laundromat.
Tumblr media
Huge home office.
Tumblr media
I don't know what this is. Could be the home theater?
Tumblr media
This is fun. Two chutes that come down to land in a foam pit.
Tumblr media
Well, let's go upstairs and check out the bedrooms.
Tumblr media
There's a fireplace and den type area on the upstairs landing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not lovin' the primary bedroom. It's gigantic, but kind of cold.
Tumblr media
The closet looks like it has a pulley system for the clothing on the upper racks.
Tumblr media
The en-suite has a tub in the middle separating a double shower.
Tumblr media
Here's one of the other 8 bds.
Tumblr media
And, its en-suite.
Tumblr media
This looks like a children's room, so I wonder if this is where the chutes to the foam pit come down from.
Tumblr media
Another bedroom with an en-suite.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the most interesting bedroom and en-suite.
Tumblr media
Here's a covered patio, but the grounds aren't finished yet.
Tumblr media
See, it's just dirt.
Tumblr media
I imagine that there will be a pool and everything.
Tumblr media
Actually, according to the plans, it looks like 2 pools or a pool and a pond.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plus there's also an apt. Maybe it's for a caretaker.

Idk if this is ur type of music but i love listening to Talkshow Boy while drawing striders&dirkjake i think its a fun vibe. Especially Testosterone & Chop Us Out though i have a hard time picking favorites especially with the testosterone(album)
Just got back from a degree show. Check out this awesome art before I answer, sorry for lack of credit. I went near the end of the exhibition and most of the artists had no business cards left sadly. Sigh. I’ll have a look & update the alt text if I can find credit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m mostly a death grips / Fiona Apple guy when it comes to music nowadays, if you are asking about taste. (My favorite song right now is coco mango diced by MF DOOM though) but I did used to listen to talk show boy when I was maybe 13 or 14.
From memory my favorite on testosterone was called something like “four breakbeats” or something. My bad, it has been a hot minute. I’ll relisten after this. I definitely understand where the Strider connotations come from with that artist though. I don’t think you’re alone either considering I’m also pretty sure there is a Dave Strider animatic to his biggest song. Ignore if I’m just lying here.
For songs / artists I associate with Dirk, I’m lacking. I have one song in my Dirk playlist and it is “declare independence” by Björk. (Don’t think he would listen to it, just associate with him). I do associate a few death grips songs with him but I think it’s purely by virtue of being a fan. (Specifically hot head, spread eagle across the block & I break mirrors with my face in the United States for Dirk / Spikes + culture shock + you might think he loves you yadda yadda for UltDirk. I recommend all songs. All good songs)
Here is a selection of songs on my DirkJake Spotify playlist though. Ignore if this is actually a sucky selection, don’t tell me if it is. I’m willing to explain any if you are curious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thanks for sharing this with me though. I’ll relisten to the album next time I draw Dirk… so probably soon. I draw that guy too much

After repeated flooding and other extreme weather events, voters of the future will demand action on carbon. Punitive carbon taxes will force up the cost of steel and cement, making them unaffordable. Strong stones will be sought in all countries in the way we currently explore for oil. Wherever these stones are found, giant high-tech quarries will be established, cutting out blocks using solar powered, computer-controlled cutters. The quarries will produce hundreds of stone beams and columns an hour. Automatic X-ray fault identification will massively improve the reliability of stone products, reducing safety factors and permitting slender, high strength elements. These standardised products will be consigned to building sites regionally, minimising transportation. Post-tensioned stone will become as ubiquitous as steel and concrete today.  This new low-carbon construction industry will enable us to build the buildings that people need without damaging the planet in the way it once did. It will break the dichotomy that we currently have between giving people the buildings they need to live and damaging our habitat with the processes of construction. It will unleash a new architecture that we can hardly imagine today.
