Use space to your advantage!
I love having life around me. Most people would agree! It may seem hard, but maintaining and creating an indoor garden is easier than it sounds.
Discouraged because of Apartment space???
Do your plants keep dying off???
Don't be! I was too, until I moved in with my boyfriend. Endless plants all over our apartment, and we want more! The key is getting the correct plants and “furniture”. In addition, a variety of plants, needing varying levels of light, is the best way to go. You can easily create space for them - get creative, you’d be surprised at how much can fit.
Also, by maintaining an environmentally friendly (native) garden, you can have happy healthy plants and prevent further spread of invasive species. What do I mean by this? Native species naturally occur in a region without being introduced, and thus, they strive in that area. Invasive plant species are a leading threat to endangered animal and plant species. Invasive plants displace native plants, effecting biodiversity - and negatively effecting ecosystems.
Take those images above for example!
Though we have a small space, by stacking simply pots and crates (or getting two story desks), a variety of plants can fit - at all levels.
Sticky Monkey Flower (M. aurantiacus) is a Northwest coast native, you can tell it’s doing very well with little effort - as well as Rhododendron spp. and Inside-Out-Flower (V. hexandra).
You can explore our apartment and learn more here.  *regularly updated*
