i was rambling about this on instagram awhile ago & someone replied saying that it can get people shadow banned if they get spam liked.. i can’t speak for tiktok, apparently it’s rules are different (& also weird), but for most, if not all, other platforms, that’s just not true.

instagram in particular, you don’t get shadow banned for receiving a bunch of likes from one account. but if you are the one liking all the posts, there’s a certain threshold where if you surpass it, your account might be flagged as a bot (it’s something ridiculous like if you make over 1000 comments or 500 likes per day.) but if you’re not scrolling through instagram ALL day then it’s not an easy thing to do, & it only affects the person that is liking the posts.

most platforms allow you to customize what notifications you get & will organize/bunch up notifications so it doesn’t clog up your activity tab; tumblr in particular, you can filter notifications so if you’re looking for something specific, then that’s an option. & inbox asks has a completely different tab so if you miss it in your activities tab, then you can just go directly to your inbox to see if you’ve missed something.

i think if it’s something that you get overwhelmed by, or if you have 1000+ posts on your account & one account likes every single one of those posts, i can understand it. but i think it’s weird to block people for something that is a relatively minor inconvenience when you have all the power in the world to curate things so that your phone doesn’t blow up, or lets you filter notifications so things don’t get buried.

not to mention how vague people are about these threats of blocking people for liking too many posts, like at what point do you consider it spam? what’s the limit? if you’re going to have that rule for your blog then at least maybe give an approximate number, so people don’t have to guess.

all of that being said, i don’t mind “spam-liking”; if you’re spamming comments on one post or sending in a hundred asks that’s just random numbers or symbols, then that’s no bueno. but that’s not generally how normal people operate so i’m not worried about it. i appreciate it when people like my art or just general ramblings, it makes me feel special. 👉👈

i’d imagine the conversation to go something like:

“What about eh— when they’re crawling?”

Simon with a cigarette clung to his lip, looking up at Price from his position leant against the desk, frown decorating his brow.

The silence was an apparent answer and Price stood up straight, crossing his arms tight to his chest.

“What about it?” Came a grunt.

“You let them. Loose, just—“

Simon tipped his cigarette.

“Just crawling around.” Price finished, seemingly deflated by his own lack of confidence.

“Yeah.” Simon mumbled. “You let them.”

“Didn’t it scare you?” A genuine sincerity in his question though his tone suggested an average conversation, perhaps one about sport.

“What? M’kid crawling?” He brushed a hand against his nose after a short inhale, resting the cigarette against his ashtray. “No.” Arms pulled to his chest, matching the captain.

“You were young, eh?”

“Nineteen mate.” He nodded absently, eyes fixed to the floor before Price’s boots.

“And the second—“

“Twenty-one.” His eyes snapped up toward Price at that, a proxy annoyance in them. “And you’re what? Thirty-five?”

Price winced.

“You’ll be fine.” Simon picked the cigarette back up, planting a firm hand on John’s shoulder.

Ok now to actually get to the point, instead of whatever the fuck that was:

I’ll start with a few short details, I didn’t include in the original, and then I’ll go onto the design, cool? Cool.

This first, one was probably pretty easy to guess, but I completely forgot to mention it in the original, so I’ll say it anyway, just to make sure we’re all one the same page: Charles will obviously not be able to see the girls in the beginning, not until he goes through his “canon death” , which Edwin and the girls obviously save him from. But this time instead of classmates, they’re other boys from the home (who do get arrested and kicked out this time:D)

On the subject of Charles, I think he’d have a very similar character arc to Niko with the letters from her mom, just with a very different context, obviously.

Now onto Edwin, I never really thought about why he could see ghosts, but I’m thinking maybe he’s from a long line of witches or something? Since that would both preserve his magical skill from canon, but also explain his interest in the occult.

Lastly, I really just wanted to talk about how funny I find the whole memory thing in its current state, because I just imagine Sa’al yoinking Eds memories, and then immediately fucking the hell off (being banished by Crystal)

Design:

Edwin: I started with the simple vision of a sweater –I don’t know why, but every time I draw that boy I have the uncontrollable urge to put him in knitwear, and this time that urge won out– then I went onto shoes, and I knew I wanted to do something different this time, so I thought about it, and came to the conclusion that ballet flats would be perfect both because they fit well with his whole vibe, but more then that I feel like a modern Edwin would definitely take the opportunity to express his femininity more. And with that thought in mind I obviously had to give him some earrings. And then I added the little lace detail onto his collar, because…ok I don’t know, it was cute, sue me!

Charles: most of Charles’ outfit is already pretty timeless, so really I just tried to differentiate his outfit enough from the original, without losing the core of it. Also I gave him a messenger bag, for no other reason then I really like messenger bags. In addition to that I gave him my shoes, because they kind of reminded me of one of his pins, and they’re hella cute ‘nough said.

they also make it abundantly clear that they haven’t read your commission info, e.g. asking questions that are directly answered in your information post, asking about prices when it’s also clearly stated in your commission info that a full body would be $x amount, etc. etc. someone interested in paying you for your art is going to do the research & usually would know what they want when they go to message you.

also a real person probably wouldn’t offer to pay you in crypto, so theres that too.

they’re not super hard to spot & its very clear from the get-go that they don’t actually know what you draw & aren’t an actual fan of your work. just be mindful & you’ll be good. :3 👍

Sorry for double posting but APPARENTLY those commission scammers have showed up on Tumblr at least for the first time for me.

For those who don’t know what I am talking about, there were/are commission scams going on in Instagram and even places like Artstation where people would pretend to be interested in your work and try to commission a pet or portrait for the sake of trying to get your bank details. Here’s how to (somewhat) sniff them out:

1- They don’t seem to be an average customer/ person that would be involved in your fandom, or has a blank template for an account or don’t even follow you.

2- They ask you to draw a portrait or a pet picture either for themselves or their children/family.

3- They promise to overpay you (in the hundreds) and do not listen to you even if you firmly state the price is cheaper.

4- They are constantly asking for your email name, or private details regarding things like banking details or passwords or other private information others should not know.

5- They try and over reassure you they mean no harm, try to guilt you into giving them the info, or become aggressive over you not giving them what they want.

What should you do if you come across one of these guys? My best advice is to block and report. Sadly these people jump account to account so there isn’t really much to do other than spread this info to prevent artists from being scammed.

And what started this thought was seeing Simon standing, brooding with his arms crossed-- big ole frown and some recruits are shaking in their boots cause my GOD he's so scary. But then a woman-- WHO TOWERS OVER HIM-- comes up and just hugs him, squishing his cheeks together and nuzzling his face against hers. She's just cooing at him, saying "You're so cute when you act tough!" And "My baby boy is so good at his job!"

And Simon just melts, oh my God. His eyes are so big and soft, looking up at her all doe like. And he giggles-- fucking giggles- when she's peppering kisses onto his balaclava covered face. And then she caresses his cheeks a bit more and places a kiss on his forehead before leaving. You could hear them say 'love you' 'love you too' to each other, and then he clears his throat and goes right back to frowning and brooding.

The recruits that were watching him were just like WHAT
