“I will say that I feel like we are witnessing a shift in the Stellaride dynamic in relation to their growth & development.” What do you mean by this?

Ooooh, I'm pissed because I had my thoughts typed out & it just disappeared, so I'm going to try & recapture them.

So we've gotten to see Stellaride through several different "eras" so to speak. It feels like this era of them is the most grounded both individually & collectively. They've always been there for each other in some capacity however this season so far just feels different (to me at least & in a good way)

Their communication has been immaculate. They know when to push & when to pull. Stella knew her husband needed to be consoled in 13x03 & we saw her give him the space to be vulnerable while also her verbalizing her needs. This episode however you see her be a little bit more firm in how she addresses him because ultimately she knows her wants to talk to Damon but that he needs that push to stop avoiding it & go see him. The same can be said for Kelly with Stella. He was firm in his communication when he told her she wouldn't gain any favor by challenging Pascal yet soft when she was sad about losing Boden as a leader, father figure, etc.

Also, their growth as individuals. Stella recognizing that she did come at Pascal wrong & she wouldn't have done that with Boden. Kelly recognizing that he messed up in lying & coming clean regardless of the consequences. Him not allowing what Damon said in anger to make him question his growth as a man, husband, friend, brother & potential father.

I say all of that to say this. They are showcasing that there is space in relationships for there to be conflict, tension & issues that arise but that with healthy communication you can overcome those obstacles without a major blowup that festers like we saw in S11 or even the uneasiness they had at the beginning of S12 where it felt like they were tiptoeing around the issue.

Out of ALL of their ERAs, THIS is the one that i want to see them bring a baby into & raise a child in. Stability, love, healthy communication, conflict resolution skills, all of it makes for an environment in which their kid will have the childhood they never had. Ultimately, that's the goal, right? Give our kids better than what we had.

So I am pursuing a career in acting, and if it all goes well hopefully have a team in 2025, start auditioning all of that jazz, and I know we still don't know but, if anything about Stella's backstory, but I would love to think Stella has family out there, maybe not close , but family out there. Maybe Stella has a cousin whom she is close to, and they are estranged, and Stella ends up saving her life and restarts that bond together, I think that would be so beautiful to see how it unfolds. but anyways I would love to play that said family member, and Miranda is sooo talented and Stellaride deserves the best! anyhow that's my ramble about it , and hopefully we get stellaride's backstory soon mwah

So i finally caught up on Fire and PD so am just here to talk about that scene in Fire??? When Stella is in Kelly’s office rambling about whether she should help Herrmann make the call to the Commissioner and he just sits there smiling at her and you can just see how much he loves her???? omg

Yes so many things happening in the episodes but i just sat there crying over how cute stellaride is 😭❤️

Also sidenote that Jay Halstead is also the best boyfriend ever, the upstead scene from last week was so emotional yet good at the same time.

Just me in my feels over Jay and Kelly as usual, nothing new.

my theory is that i don’t think matt and sydney are gonna last but i think greg and sylvie will last a bit more longer. hopefully matt and sydney goes on a date or two and then matt will probably realize he’s not into it or something and finally starts fighting for brett because these two deserve to be happy with each other. i want to see them be happy but this angst is really k!lling me and it’s only been one episode. i hope all this angst doesn’t last long.

don’t get me started on stella and kelly. although i’m 100% with stella and she deserves to be mad but i genuinely feel for kelly because he seems so lost in everything and thinks he’s doing the right thing. these two need to work it out asap because i want a stellaride proposal this season lol.

i know we all think matt and kelly are being real idiots but i really do feel for them. my heart is breaking for them because they just seem like two lost puppies, not knowing what to do.

anyways this episode, i admit, it wasn’t bad but felt like a lot of things were missing and off (don’t know how to explain this lol), but i love the pranks scenes with mouch which made it up 😅

I have some long and rambling thoughts on Chicago Fire and the future of Sylvie and Brettsey:

All summer long I told myself that if they broke up Brettsey, I’d be done watching CF, and would completely disengage with the show. Despite my best efforts and the terrible/illogical way they broke them up, I can’t seem to make myself disengage. While I haven’t seen any of the episodes this season, I’m still watching the clips with Sylvie on Twitter, and still following along with what’s going on. Even though I know deep down that Sylvie’s “maybe someday” and Kara’s “at least for now” (https://www.nbc.com/nbc-insider/chicago-fire-season-11-episode-2-kara-killmer-talks-brett-and-casey) are 99.9% likely just baiting, I can’t help but still hope that they’re endgame.

Something that I can’t stop thinking about is how Sylvie has been pushed to the background again since her breakup, and we can’t reason that it’s because of the actor’s pregnancy like we could last season. So what in the world are they doing with Sylvie? They put out all these articles saying that she had to break up with Matt to focus on herself and her career, but other than the one episode of paramedicine we got (which was used to show she was throwing herself into work to deal with the breakup), Sylvie hasn’t had any career storylines and is being written as a supporting/background character. I’ve seen people on Twitter and Reddit say “it’s an ensemble show, she’s not always gonna have a lot of focus and screen time.” Well, she’s one of the main characters and always has been, so for the most part, yeah she is. Plus her being pushed to the background happened as soon as Jesse left, so it‘s been going on for an entire year now, not just the last few episodes.

In my opinion, there are only two reasons why the show would break up Brettsey. First and most likely, they want to put her with someone else. The writers don’t seem to be capable of writing Sylvie any real storylines that aren’t romantic or at least related to a love interest, except for maybe in her first couple seasons. It seems pretty obvious to me that they only gave her paramedicine as a reason for not leaving with Matt, especially since we’ve only had 2 episodes (10x09 and 11x02) on it since Jesse left. Other than 10x09, the only storylines she’s had since Jesse left were about her and Matt (eps 6, 7, 10, 11, 15, & 22 of S10, and eps 1, 2, & 3 of S11), otherwise she was just a supporting or background character. My best guess is that she’ll stay in the background until they introduce a love interest for her in the 2nd half of the season.

However, the second reason for breaking up Brettsey could be to set up for a dramatic reunion in the future. CF has always broken up their main ships and put them back together. Stellaride, Dawsey, and even Sylvie broke up and got back together with both both Antonio and Kyle. They are so repetitive with their storylines, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if this was the case. Of course with Jesse not being on the show, a Brettsey reunion likely means Sylvie leaving. I can’t see Kara wanting to leave (I thought she might last season, but it seems unlikely now since she returned), but can’t help but wonder if the show runners might have her written off at the end of the season. They seem to have absolutely no idea what to write for Sylvie anymore and if a love interest isn’t introduced for her after the mid season finale, I’d say the chances are actually pretty high. They wrote off Mills and Otis because “there weren’t any stories left to tell,” and the actors weren’t as highly billed as Kara is. With all the money issues NBC Universal and Wolf Entertainment seem to be having, I can’t imagine them continuing to pay Kara to be in the background. Tbh, they might have wanted to write her out after last season, but knew how bad it would look if they fired an actress while/right after she was pregnant.

Just for fun, I’m going to predict that they’re going to go down the same path as Castle did. They’re gonna write Sylvie off at the end of the season and then end up getting cancelled too. Their last renewal came in February of 2020, I’m so curious to see what happens as we get closer to another renewal decision. A lot of people assume they’ll be renewed because the ratings are still pretty high, but that’s only one part of the equation. Shows tend to get more expensive to make as they get older because actors get raises. It’s pretty clear from the rescue scenes that their budget has dramatically declined and with so many other actors leaving Wolf Entertainment shows, it seems like they might just be trying to stay afloat at this point. Plus with NBC possibly axing their 10pm hour, they’d have 3 shows they’d have to cancel (New Amsterdam is on its last season) to fit the new schedule, and that’s without adding any new shows. I honestly just hope that if it is the last season for CF that they will have notice and be able to wrap things up and give everyone proper closure.

1. Carver waking up in somebody else bed, hungover, once again & almost late for shift AGAIN.... this man is slipping. For the life of me, I don't understand why they made Jake a series regular just to go in and deconstruct his character growth. I don't see the plot.

4. I'm so happy Ritter actually witnessed the bird attacking Mouch. Mouch needed that validation 😭

5. Pascal questioning Stella about truck again is just so.... Not because I don't think he should be asking those questions but more so the tone & manner in which he does it is just so triggering for me. The difference in how he talks to Kidd vs. how he engages in a conversation with Kelly later in the episode is night & day.

5a. I feel bad for Stella. It's clear something is going on with Carver, but it seems like if she tells Pascal, he'll just flip it on her again like he did with Damon. Rock meet hard place. Stella's storyline this entire first half has been navigating mens bullshit instead of dealing with her backstory 😒 😑

6. Carvers "there will be no more screw ups" gave me whiplash because that sounds like something S11 Carver said MANY times

7. Tony has been crushing it! Keep giving the man more screen time.

8. Pascal conversation with Kelly... do we see how the tone & overall demeanor is different, relaxed, and not accusatory in nature 🙂 this continues to be problematic for me

9. I can't tell if Flynn is a good or bad guy... he sort of weirds me out

10. STELLARIDE has PARENTS written all over them in that Med scene. Like they finally got a babysitter to enjoy a night out & Kelly's dragging Stella to Med for a case 😆

11. Does anyone know what it was that Tori brought Carver & why would Kidd care? It looked like a knife?

11a. Tori's manipulation is insane. She has this man withdrawing & icing people out that have had his back in so many situations. Hope he doesn't burn all those bridges

because I literally can't stop thinking about this, it is still SO weird to me the way there are so many people in the OC fandom who just don't engage with any lgbt content at all (except for maybe some rhodestead stuff). like whether it's reesker, anything to do with ethan being bi, sevasey, bi/lesbian erin etc. there's nothing. there's a small group of us who DO create lgbt content and I love us, but I just really really hate it. like it had never occurred to me before that shipping one character with lots of different people Wasn't a thing some people do, but apparently I should have thought harder because it literally feels like people latch onto their canon ships and then that's it.

like I get it, I love stellaride, but liking other ships that feature those characters doesn't mean you've betrayed them? idk I guess I just think it's really fun to look at how different the dynamics would be if characters were in relationships with people other than their canon partners, but maybe that's just me

(also. shipping something doesn't mean you think they should get married and be together forever. i LOVE the concept of sarah x noah, but as one of those relationships that was doomed to fail. I think it would be so fun to explore how long it would last before one of them (most likely Sarah) put an end to things, and how it would go down. they'd probably only be together for a month or two, but that's part of what makes it so interesting. anyway. Hi. I was on AO3 and I noticed that Burzek doesn't have many fics (and I feel like already read them all) same thing with Stellaride... Both have just 300+ fics, but other main couples like Upstead and Brettsey have more than 1000 (I'm not complaining) but I wonder why such a big difference.

I think it’s just what people like! At least for PD, the fandom doesn’t seem to have really taken off until around season 5/6 when it comes to fics (you can see that in the number of fics that have been written), and at that point Burzek were as far away from each other as they could possibly be. The other thing about Burzek is they’re generally in the background of a fic when they’re tagged. I haven’t done it recently, but the last time (maybe November?) I did a search for fics where they were the main pairing there was 96. It kinda sucks. FFN is better (driveallnight is a great author there!), but still not amazing.

As for Stellaride, I think part of it is Brettsey has had so much more focus since s8. Jesse was the number one billed actor, Kara the number one billed actress. It makes sense as much as it’s not ideal.

I also think - and this is a VERY PERSONAL THOUGHT and not something that I have proof for - but I think there might be an underlying racial component to it that people don’t even think about. We see it in nearly every fandom - it’s generally the white characters who are better developed and have more storylines. And I’m not just talking about the OC universe, but even other places. From personal fandom experience you’ve got the backlash against race bent characters in the HP fandom (and we all remember the backlash against Black!Hermione in cursed child), Firefly you have almost as many fics for Jayne/River, a non canon pairing who never had any romantic interactions, as you do for the canon interracial couple of Wash/Zoë. Jessica Jones has more Jessica/Killgrave fics than Jessica/Luke Cage. The only fandom I can think of where this isn’t the case is 911, and that’s because of b*ddie.

Idk I know that seems like a bit of a ramble, but I feel like it’s something to keep in mind for Stellaride. Especially now that they’re the main couple on the show, and both main couples in Fire involve WOC (I’m excluding Brettsey because Matt is rarely in episodes now), I think the fandom needs to remember this.

Ive been writing a stellaride fic so I've been thinking about them a lot so sorry to ramble in your inbox lol

While I can see stellaride taking in and adopting a teenager I really do want them to have a baby mostly cause I think the adoption storylines in one chicago are overdone.

I think this season as hermann tries to move up, mouch might as well to take over for hermann if/when he can take over for chief. I think that if Stella is pregnant this season, he can be acting lieutenant on truck while he works to take over engine.

For stella, when she can't be lieutenant I want her to do random fire odd jobs. Like doing more girls on fire work, teaching at the academy, working in the bullpen. I think it would be interesting to see what kind of situations she can get into and it would be good to keep her connected to the rest of the characters WITHOUT HAVING HER WORK AT OFI PLEASEEEE

you explained my thoughts perfectly in this post! i 100% can see stellaride adopt an older teenager and as much as i want that we’ve seen so many adoption storylines but not one successful pregnancy storyline! and i want to see a successful pregnancy with stellaride.

i honestly think the writers chose to put mouch down the lieutenant track because they wanted stella to be pregnant this season and mouch could take her spot while she’s on maternity leave. then kylie could take mouch’s spot and they don’t need to bring in new characters. this scenario is really the only way i can see mouch moving up the ladder. otherwise mouch wanting to become lieutenant came out of nowhere. tbh, i still can’t see mouch as a lieutenant.

and yes, i want stella to do oddball jobs that isn’t ofi. ofi isn’t really her thing anyways. i love the idea of her teaching at the academy, or doing girls on fire, or working the bullpen. i think it’s a great way to keep her connected to 51 and give her storylines too. could you imagine the comedy bits we could get of pregnant stella vs 51? i’d pay good money for that!

I'VE SPENT THE PAST FEW HOURS SCREAMING PARTS AT STARKY.... well, screams of terror then squals of joy... GODDAMMMMMMMM. Also you wanted some predictions! So I'm a gonna give you some off the top of my head cos its all so fresh! These maaaay be slithtly more of a wishlist?? I'm not sure what the difference is 🤷‍♂️

1. We get more of Daniel, Sylvie, and Casey - if he's being a dick I wanna see Syvlie slap or punch him in the face in defence of Matt cos nobody disrespects her man

2. Gallo's probably right and Severide is a wizz at arson cases so I smell a teamup - but only if Casey and Gallo have an actual calm talk first about it. I need the papa son duo to be in a good place 😅

3. Stellaride wedding!!! A stag do that is not the day before shift cos they are not doing that one again. But i also wouldn't put it past them for something to go ary like things usually do when they're not on shift.

4. 51's women have some fun messing with the men of the house... i need to see some of that house domination they said about 😂 also i dunno why i thought of a bet happening between the groups like on friends but the winners get pampered on next shift and losers have to do the pampering... yes i thought of like a mini spa thing (cos my work actually did one, one time and it was a hit... this has turned into a ramble now)

5. More Severide and Nathan! Maybe somewhat of a familiar situation where one has to help the other - maybe Nathan's glad he can help severide this time (this is definitely a wishlist now... 🤔)

6. Ooh i dunno if you were gonna add this when we talked about it but a Hockey game against PD 😂 if you're feeling a crossover chapter that happens to coincide a VS game 👀

Also, one thing is for certain that i dont have to predict cos you've already proven it - awesome writing!
