Since a lot of people expressed interest in Clipboard Buck's sexuality quiz, I'm sharing some of that 😊. Haven't had a lot of time to write today, had to take pupper to the vet for his shots (he's okay! A little mad about it, but he's kinda dramatic lol). Anyway, this fic is slowly coming together. I'm hoping it won't take super long, but ya know. Have one of my favorite parts:

"So you're..." Hen trails off. She's biting back a smile that screams I knew it. "I don't know what I am," Buck shrugs. "For the longest time I thought how I felt was just... normal." "It's not abnormal," Hen assures him. She rounds the coffee table and sits on it. "That's what Maddie said," Buck sighs. "All I know is I am definitely not straight, and I want to know what I am." "You don't have to pick a label," Hen points out. "I never did," Chim says before taking another bite of celery. The entire team looks at him, varying degrees of surprise on their faces. He looks around the group. "What? I'm not straight. This can't be news to you." "I knew you were flirting with Eddie his first shift," Buck declares at the same time Hen says "it's not news." Eddie raises his eyebrows and grins at Chim, who honest to God blushes. "I was being friendly," Chim insists. "You were being a possessive golden retriever trying to mark your territory, I... didn't want him to feel unwelcome, that's all." "Aw, thanks, Chim," Eddie says, patting his knee. "Or was it Asian Fabio?" Chim shoves at him. The force throws Chim off balance and he falls against Eddie's side, knocking him into Buck, who half collapses across the couch like a line of ridiculous dominos. Hen cackles and Bobby scrubs his hands over his face with a long suffering sigh. By some miracle, their coffees- and Chim's celery and peanut butter- escape the mess unscathed. Chim scrabbles up and takes a seat beside Hen on the coffee table, glaring at Eddie like all that was his fault. Eddie sits up and takes Buck's hand, pulling him upright. "Oh, so you help Buck but not the guy who wasn't afraid to flirt with you?" Chim balks. "I've always been the favorite," Buck says with a cheeky grin, knocking his shoulder against Eddie's. "Before we end up calling an ambulance to our own firehouse," Bobby says, "have you thought any about the label you might want?" Buck sighs, his shoulders dropping. "I've tried. It's all really confusing and I've read articles about each one that might apply to me until the screen went blurry." "Why don't you do one of those quizzes they used to put in magazines?" Bobby suggests.

Today I am 50 years old and that’s a wonderful thing. I’ve lived and loved fandom life since I was 15 and I’m still here and going nowhere!

50 years my lovely pocket pals!! How lucky I am, to have had all this time to experience the ups and downs of life.

So my message of the day is getting older is a gift, you’ve got to remember that cos I know the world tries to tell you youth is best and you need to have things sorted in your twenties. Rubbish! I’m loving, learning and changing all the time and this place has helped me do that. New words new ideas new me every day.

So just wanted to say that even though we’re all miles apart your existence in the world makes me happy and I enjoy sharing this space with you so much. Some of you are hundreds of miles away some thousands, so many different places ages and lives and still here we are together finding the same joy and fun together.

Buck reaches over to his nightstand and grabs the remote, placing it in between him and Eddie. "You can just watch some TV or go on your phone," he suggests. Eddie shakes his head. "Why would I do that when I can look at you?" Buck ducks his head shyly. Fuck Eddie and the things he says and the way he makes Buck feel. He should be over all the butterflies but he knows they will never go away.  "Oh making you blush is so easy, I love it."

Okay so this is probably gonna turn into a whole rant ™️

You guys were so accepting with me exploring my pronouns and it feels so good and so loving to be in a community like this 💕

Here’s the thing -

For years, I’ve thought about changing my name because Caroline never really felt like my name, it didnt feel like it was me.

And then at work, I was helping out at another store and people thought my name was Maya because one of the guys got it wrong from the beginning. So it became a standing joke that they’d call me Maya.

And I started to respond to it and I just, I don’t know, I can’t explain it but it just felt like it was supposed to find me? Like that name was supposed to find me.

I’m not changing it legally just yet, I want to see how it feels. But I was hoping that you guys would (once again) help me out with figuring out a new thing about me, if it’s right or not 🥺

So for now, my preferred name is Maya 🫶🏻

Okay so I owe you all some more info about my secret buddie wip … are y’all ready???

This wip is actually a sequel …

To Rival Firefighters 🚒 !!!!!

Whhhhaaat?!?!!! Crazy right?

Someone of you might be like ughhh why are you writing a sequel? But I hope most of you are just as excited as I am.

I didn’t have any plans to revisit the rivals world so soon (or at all, but I hadn’t ruled it out), but James asked me if I’d ever revisit it, particularly the shooting. Some ideas were thrown around and then like a week later I had words in a new doc and things have just gone from there.

So everyone who is a fan of the Rivals universe, say thank you to James 😘❤️

Without further ado, here’s a little something from Eddie’s POV.

Buck definitely breaks a few traffic laws to get to the hospital as fast as he does, and when he stops in his tracks in the doorway to Eddie’s room, Eddie feels like he can breathe properly for the first time since he woke up.

Buck’s got dark circles under his eyes and he’s carrying a tiredness that isn’t from a lack of sleep. He looks like shit, but he is still the most beautiful thing Eddie has ever seen.

“Hey, Buck”

Buck lets out a relieved laugh that quickly turns into a sob, rushing forward to envelope Eddie in a hug that both heals and fractures his heart.

He closes his eyes and wraps his good arm around Buck, ignoring the throb of pain in his injured shoulder. He’ll put up with a little bit of pain if it means holding Buck in his arms like this.

Buck is shaking, his tears soaking into Eddie’s hospital gown as he repeats Eddie’s name over and over again like a prayer.

“It’s okay, sweetheart.” Eddie murmurs. He kisses Buck’s hair, breathing in the scent of him. Here. Alive. “I’m okay.”

summary:

“Where are the ducks?”

Eddie took himself out of his head once more, looking down to his son and following the boy’s line of sight. He was looking at Buck’s jeep, Eddie letting out a weighted sigh for it.

All of his coworkers had been welcoming, accepting Eddie right into their little family. Well, all of them except one that was. Buck had made it clear from day one that he didn’t want anything to do with Eddie, for whatever reason. It was fine with Eddie, really. Evan Buckley had no lasting effects on him.

“What ducks are you talking about bud?”

Chris looked up to him, all but rolling his eyes.

“Dad, every jeep has ducks.” He might has well have added a ‘duh’ at the end, Eddie holding his hands up in mock defense for not knowing such things. Why the fuck would jeeps have ducks?

Chris, with all the exasperation a seven-year-old could muster, looked up to him once more. “Look it up dad. It’s a thing.”

While Eddie wasn’t convinced, he assured Chris he would.

Buck doesn’t have any ducks for his jeep. Eddie decides to fix that. AKA 5 times Eddie secretly leaves ducks for Buck, and the one time he hands one right to him.

This fic is currently just over 7k words and I've only got a few more scenes to add to it before it's done 🥰

They stand in silence for a long moment. Long enough that Eddie is about to take the silence as his answer. “I didn’t want to screw things up,” Buck huffs a humourless laugh as he takes a seat at the table, “But I guess I made a mess of things anyway.” Eddie crosses his arms over his chest, nodding slightly as he remembers how it stung when Buck kissed him then fled in the middle of the night after he told him Natalia and him had broken up. He remembers feeling humiliated when it turned out the kiss at the bar was just a favour to lose that girl's attention. But he also remembers how loved he felt after he got hurt and Buck was there to take care of him, and the domesticity when they talked about wanting to expand their family together. “I’m not exactly known for having successful relationships,” Buck continues. “Everyone leaves in the end. And I can’t lose you too, Eddie. You and Chris mean so much to me.”

The writing beans are on vacation without me ರ⁠╭⁠╮⁠ರ so I haven't gotten much of anything done at. all. But! Thanks to Nolan (*forehead kiss*) I've gone back to my sub Eddie fic!! The beginning needs to be adjusted a little- anything before this snippet is... meh. So while I fix that and hopefully get to the good stuff 😏 have one of my favorite moments:

"I'd take you apart," he whispers, leaning into Eddie's space. "Tease you until you're shaking with pleasure only I can give you." Heat sparks in Eddie's chest as Buck's gaze rakes over him. He's been checked out before, it's not even uncommon, but from Buck it's… different. The space Eddie had noticed earlier is gone, replaced by Buck’s knee on the cushion, letting him lean closer. Eddie doesn't dare look away. He doesn't dare breathe. Buck can't be serious. It's all talk. For all he knows, Buck's going to lean back and laugh about the whole thing and they'll go back to their movie. But Buck keeps his gaze locked on Eddie, his pupils blown wide, his eyes darkening. He leans closer, so he's looming over Eddie, a hand on the armrest behind Eddie's back. The movement makes Eddie lean back, only slightly. He's torn between making space in case this is a joke, and closing the gap between them. Tentatively, he trails his hand up Buck's arm, to his shoulder. The smallest smirk graces Buck's lips. Normally, Eddie doesn't notice just how big Buck is. Eddie thinks he should feel boxed in. But he doesn't. He trusts Buck implicitly. All he can feel is excitement, if a little nervousness. It's not like they've been in this position before. "The only decision you have to make," Buck practically purrs, tilting his head with a smirk, "is whether or not you want it." His eyes flick to Eddie's mouth. Eddie finds himself doing the same, his gaze focused on plump pink lips. If they do this, there's no turning back. At least not for Eddie. He doesn't know if Buck's suggesting a one time thing. At the moment, he doesn't care. He leans up and closes the distance between them, slotting their lips together.

Eddie pulls away from Buck's touch as if he had been burned. "Don't– don't touch me." "What?" There's a second where Eddie can see the hurt in Buck's eyes and it kills him. "Please, don't. I'm sorry, I just–" Buck lifts his hand to place it on Eddie's shoulder, then stops when he remembers. "Hey, you don't have to explain. It's not like you hate me, right?" He attempts for a lighthearted tone and fails. Eddie blinks back tears. "Actually quite the opposite" he says barely audible so Buck can't hear.

so im thinking when buck touches him he feels overwhelmed or something idk 🫠 i felt like writing something more angsty than i usually go for and this happened. probably will just leave it as it is but yeah hehehe

The ambulance comes to a screeching halt outside the hospital and then everything happens in a bit of a blur.

Eddie is unloaded, Buck’s hand clenched around Eddie’s tightly like a lifeline as the trauma team wheel Eddie inside the glass doors.

Inevitably, Buck has to release his grip on Eddie before they take him through to surgery, but it feels like he's severing a part of himself, the pain rippling through his body and threatening to bring him to his knees.

Someone is talking to him, placing a gentle hand on his arm and breaking through his trance.

“Are you a family member?” The woman asks, her voice urgent yet still kind.

Buck nods his head, wiping at the tears on his cheeks. “Yea, yes. I'm his partner, his - his boyfriend,” he chokes out.

The woman nods in understanding and says something else before she’s hurrying off behind the doors after Eddie and the trauma team, but Buck doesn’t quite register it, the sounds around him beginning to become muffled.

Buck watches with a sense of hopelessness as Eddie disappears behind another set of doors, feeling like he's being pulled apart at the seams.

He slumps against a nearby wall, sinking down to the ground as the sobs he’s been holding in finally break free from his chest and wrack through his body.

“Buck?”

There was more rustling before Eddie heard a, “fuck, stupid—Edddie?” Eddie laughed with a shake of his head.

“You decent up there bud?”

Eddie heard a loud sigh and some more shuffling before Buck answered.

“Yea, mostly.”

Slowly, Eddie crept up the stairs, unsure of what kind of predicament he’d find Buck in.

At the top of the landing, Eddie came to a halt, a soft smile spreading across his face.

Buck was sat on the edge of his bed, hoodie ridden up and exposing his tummy. His head was bent toward his waist where he was battling with the drawstrings of his sweatpants, grunting as he went.
