#stancy and their 6 nuggets - but like- Mike hates Steve

A little blurb from a very angsty Byler fic I started yesterday.

It started as a vent fic, because I wanted to explore how bad my first heartbreak was. And because I exist solely to make my works even more depressing and painful… we have Mike with internalized homophobia, with an old money family, and an arranged marriage trope. It’s set in 2022, because modern AUs made conversation easier for the Max/Will/El w friendship.

(Yes Max wants to murder 1 Michael Wheeler. No Will is not going to let her.)

I swear, I will eventually write happy Byler. But listening to Taylor Swift songs like these:

High infidelity, Haunted, Innocent, Back to December, Sad Beautiful Tragic, Bigger Than The Whole Sky, and The Great War

And writing sort of about how my ex broke my heart… yeah. Um I’ll just say I’m impressed with how much I have been upset writing this vent fic.

It’s been 5 years, and I still remember the feeling of my heart shattering in my chest. But it makes for great fic material! 😭😅

Spoilers for Season 4!

Just some of my thoughts about this infamous Vol 2:

What I Liked:

Murray needs a flamethrower more often this was amazing

Jason getting cut in half by the portal to hell was the karma he deserved 

  Also side rant   Literal portals to hell open in Hawkins: The Townsfolk: Damn what a funky earthquake 

Loved the “Alien Resurrection vibe of the Demodogs lab like the atmosphere was amazing

And the joint winners of “ Best reunion” is Joyce and Hopper along with El and Hopper, THE FAMILY IS COMPLETE !!!

 Eddie smiling at doing crimes is the best thing I’ve seen all season

The imagery of the Upside Down leaking into Hawkins was so hauntingly beautiful i got goosebumps so much

That fight scene with Hopper and the Demogorgon was honestly amazing

I love Steve’s “Nugget” dream it’s so cute (but why did he have to be like damn Nancy we need 6 kids)

Loved the weapons making scene so much, Dustin and Eddie were so sweet i hate what happened

What I didn’t like:

 I’m still so confused as to why Max’s “death” caused the portals to open. Vecna didn’t finish his job yet, he didn’t fully kill her because her eyes didn’t get smushed in. She died from her injuries but wasn’t fully vecna’d so technically Vecna didn’t get his fourth kill.

 Eddie’s death was honestly so unneeded. If they wanted Eddie to die they could have better orchestrated it. Also the “we’re not heroes line” kind of let us know that Eddie was going to die it wasn’t a surprise which meant that if they were doing it for shock value that wasn’t even done right! STOP KILLING OFF LOVABLE SIDE CHARACTERS YOU JUST INTRODUCED US TO TO ENSURE THAT THE “MAIN CHARATCERS” ARE UNTOUCHABLE!

Also hate that after Eddie died we didn’t see anyone apart from Dustin or his Uncle mourn him, like surely Steve would have shed at least a tear? Mike coming home to find his mentor and big brother figure died? His death made me ugly cry btw

 Will’s character was butchered so badly this season. Like he’s just turned back into season 3 “touch neck and be scared” Will again. Everything was done so badly, like we all know that you are too cowardly to make Will being gay canon stop hinting that he’s gay make it canon and stop being cowards you were able to do that for Robin why was it so hard to do for Will!!!! JUSTICE FOR WILL

 I do not like how they did Robin and Vicky they could have done this in so so many better ways that just “haha my bf left me and I’m just like you because i blurt out words”

Hated hated hated how they are trying to make Stancy a thing now after pushing so hard for Jancy like wtf maybe Nancy doesn’t want to be with either with them! Stop pushing this love triangle it’s been going on for 4 seasons now!!!

STRANGER THINGS 4 SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !

Okay, these are very much not in any particular order and definitely don’t follow the order in which stuff happens but here we go!

THE JOPPER KISS HOLY FUCKING SHIT. THE FACT THAT THEY USED THE ‘FIRST I LOVE YOU’ (or a version of it or SOMETHING SIMILAR IDK) (which is one of the best scores in the entire show, btw) LIKE DUDE I WAS SCREAMING. When Joyce goes, “What did they do to you?” FUCK.

MIKE’S ‘I LOVE YOU’ TO EL? HIS MONOLOGUE? I was crying so hard I literally had trouble breathing and no I am not exaggerating. They are so fucking perfect, I can’t, I will go on and on so I am cutting myself off here. Finn’s acting?!? Like hello? Are you kidding me? I still don’t get why people hate on Mike so much, especially since now we get a bit of light shed on why he behaved how he did at points in season 3 that people tore him apart for.

LUCAS AND MAX’S SCENES? I’m so happy that they’re finally coming back around to each other and seeing how good for each other they are.

Holy shit, I am so fucking happy that they finally gave Caleb and Gaten the chance to show just how talented they are! Like, obviously they’ve always had great moments in all the other seasons, but I feel like they were finally able to prove just how great of actors they are.

Kinda disappointed that Will didn’t officially come out. But that scene was so heart-wrenching and still very well done considering the fact that if Will did tell Mike that he liked him, that’d be a tad awkward considering El is essentially his sister now.

When Erica kicked the dude in the balls? QUEEN SHIT. Honestly, when Erica does anything I get so hyped up, but who doesn’t?

Robin saying, “Well it isn’t everyday that you lose your home and your car in one fell swoop,” absolutely killed me.

Steve saying that he wanted 6 nuggets? AND WHEN HE TOLD NANCY THAT HE PICTURED HER WITH HIM WHEN HE WAS TALKING ABOUT THAT? I usually leaned towards Jancy, but damn I might be more team Stancy now, idk.
