I know it's Taylors personality or her Image being a mediocre dancer and therefore being accessible to her loser fans. But can she actually try being good? Like that one music video of herself in that blue dress and she's dancing like a drunk ape. Some people use this to drag her and swifties come in and be like " She was not being serious. She is just having fun." Or that cringe lyrics in her new Telephone Torture Department. " That song is called So High school. It's supposed to be cringe." - I shouldn't complain. It's hilarious how less they settle for. They could ask for more. But they are okay with the bare minimum. Taylor is almost like selling her fans for dumb. Cause she knows they giving her money for everything.
Genuinely, I don't think she's capable of being good/better than what we currently see. She's been profiting off the same tired bullshit for years now. None of her music between Fearless and currently sounds a whole lot different from each other. If you told me that "better than revenge", "bad blood", and "look what you made me do" were on the same album, I wouldn't question it for a moment.
And truly, I think it's because very young in her career she learned to play the victim, and her fame grew while her artistry didn't, and by the time it *should* have started buting her in the ass she had learned to weaponize her perceived victimhood, curate a team of yesmen to stroke her ego at her every move, and convinced her fans that she was some kind of special little princess who's just better than everyone else at everything. And now that so much of her fan base will literally use their dying breath to defend her every move, she truly has NO incentive to put in any effort to be better. Her team won't tell her it's shit. Her fans won't tell her it's shit. Her victim mentality tells her anyone who thinks it's shit just hates her personally. There's no push to grow as a person, and that's why as a woman in her THIRTIES she still sings songs like she's a petty immature fifteen year old.
That said, Taylor's already more or less called her fans stupid/lazy just for pointing ot that The Toxic Port-a-potty Department is a long ass album title:
"You could call itĀ Tortured PoetsĀ if you just refuse to memorize more than one-word album titles.ā€
- Taylor Swift
Also, "tortured poets" is two words, but I guess that kind of logic was too much effort for her empty head lmao.
Which just further illustrates my point: she'll shit on anyone who says anything she takes as an attack, even if it's not.
Fall Out Boy is literally known for having long ass titles. "Thnks fr th mmrs" has no vowels specifically because their label said it was too long. "Our lawyer made us change the name of this song so we wouldn't get sued" was originally "my name is david ruffman and these are the temptations". Fans have always joked that their titles were absurd. And guess what? Instead of taking it like an attack, FOB just went "lmao yeah, and?", and moved on. It's still a joke, even now that their song titles are somewhat shorter, and it's never been meant maliciously. It was an observation. But Taylor seems to take any and every comment that isn't obviously glowing praise as an attack.
So she'll keep churning out half assed bullshit, and her loyal followers will keep defending mediocre music and slacktivism, and the rest of us will keep being bombarded with Taylor Swift news constantly because we're supposed to believe it's weird to not love and worship her, apparently.

Can you explain petekey to me in detail like iā€™m someone who barely knows the band members (because i actually donā€™t know)
ofc!! i'll give a brief overview here, but for the full story i definitely recommend checking out this master-post on tumblr, or this version on ao3.
Petekey comprises of Pete Wentz (bassist and lyricist of Fall Out Boy) and Mikey Way (bassist of My Chemical Romance). The two first met in 2003 and both of their bands played some dates on Warped Tour 2004, however things really kicked off in the summer of 2005 when Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance were the head-lining bands on Warped Tour. The members of both bands were often spotted throughout the summer watching each others sets, hanging out together, or playing on stage with one another, and people who were fans of both bands at the time loved the friendship between My Chem and FOB.
Around this time, Pete Wentz was very active on LiveJournal answering questions, teasing lyrics, and talking about the tour. A lot of the questions were often about My Chem, his friendship with Mikey, and various things about the summer, and Pete also posted a lot of prose/poetry/thoughts musing over and reflecting on a summer love. This was furthered in the release of Fall Out Boy's album 'Infinity On High' in 2007, which contained many lyrics taken directly from Pete's posts on LiveJournal (specifically the song 'Bang The Doldrums', which was previously called 'Summer of Like'. Summer of Like is now a term which is used as another way to refer to the summer of 2005). Pete and Mikey have remained friends over the years and often interacted on twitter, and Mikey even played bass on stage with Fall Out Boy last year.
Obviously, all of these events happened almost two decades ago, (and both individuals are married lmao) so nowadays most people just "ship" the two in a very light-hearted way that is really just an appreciation of their friendship. There has been a bit of a spike of people talking about the ship in the last couple years as a result of MCR playing the WWWY festival in 2022, Mikey playing on stage with Fall Out Boy in 2023, and FOB playing 'Bang The Doldrums' live on stage for the first time EVER last year. Anyways, both My Chem and FOB are head-lining WWWY festival next month and personally I am hyped for that lol.
hopefully this was helpful!! i definitely recommend checking out the master-posts i linked for way, WAY more information and a much more coherent time-line of the petekey "lore"

Okay but no I actually love listening to eowyg and tttygs calm before the storm back to back. Like you can just hear the growth and how much more complete they are in the updated version. Like to me itā€™s the clearest example of how essential Andyā€™s drumming is to their sound bc you hear the version without him and itā€™s so much less alive, itā€™s not nearly as interesting or full or just. Idk the og drummer isnā€™t bad but itā€™s certainly lacking Andyā€™s presence. Joes guitar parts are so much more developed and prominent and it feels like he got to be more front and center esp at in the bridge. The bridge itself is miles better in the tttyg version like eowyg itā€™s almost like they just decided to take a break mid song itā€™s very minimal. But the newer one is gorgeous and itā€™s simple but itā€™s so well composed and layered with all of them. The bass line is mostly the same from what I can tell but we all know thatā€™s not Peteā€™s real impact. Peteā€™s changes to the lyrics for the new one! Or at least Iā€™m assuming he was responsible for the verse updates. It feels like him. it makes me think more than anything of how often Patrick talks about how Peteā€™s words have such a unique rhythm inherent to them, bc the way Patrick sings the new one is so melodic and it fits so well where the eowyg version is just a little clunkier. And Patrickā€™s VOICE. I remember being younger and listening to cbts specifically in tttyg and the bridge through the end and being like?? This kid?? This is the kid who thought he wasnā€™t a singer? Because heā€™s sustaining ridiculous notes and vocal runs and itā€™s insanely good for his age and where they were and back then I just thought like itā€™s wild that he was so nervous back then about singing but on songs like that heā€™s just going all in. And then I found the eowyg one and went ohhhhhh okay because he didnā€™t start there. He didnā€™t have the capability or the confidence or the consistency yet. He did start out very rough and had to work his way up to belting out those high notes and the smoothness of his voice etc. So yeah going to tttygs version right after itā€™s just so satisfying because everything thatā€™s good about it is showing off the core of what makes each of them so necessary to their sound, and what unique parts of the music each of them bring to the table that would make it incomplete without the whole band. Rambling but eowyg is. Eh. But Iā€™m glad we have it if for nothing else than I love the comparison between those versions of the song
anon i donā€™t have nearly HALF the coherency for good song analysis like you do but itā€™s like as i read ur ask i found myself going ā€œhey yeah i DID notice thatā€ or ā€œthatā€™s actually a really good pointā€
but one part i can say is that eowyg is really lacking in terms of like. everything? knowing what fob can actually do might be tainting my opinion on this but listening to it makes me wonder how their actual songwriting processes in and of itself had changed in the time between evening out and tttyg because the guitar sounds wildly different and in tttyg it sounds like thereā€™s actually more then two guitars playing when evening out relied on two guitar lines presumably between joe and trick
and patrickā€™s VOICE the stark difference between the overstrained eowyg vocals vs tttyg where patrick sounds much fuller and letā€™s his actual throaty deep voice out, in eowyg it feels like he was focused on sounding pop punk and hitting notes that he didnā€™t even think he could hit when in tttyg he was more focused on the melody and keeping his runs even
i just woke up so thatā€™s pretty much all i have to say rn LMAO but anon just know ur explanation of it is sooooo real and true

Alright Britt where is the 5 paragraph essay about Speak Now (Taylor's Version)?
I am still processing the emotional saga I went through with this album last night lmao
To preface I love how this is like *the album* that everyone is so interested in hearing for the rerecords, just because it's such an *emotional* album for all of us, even if it isn't our favorite. I distinctly remember listening to OG Speak Now for the first time, so I was really interested to see!
Most of my thoughts are that like the other rerecords, there have been little things that stuck out as different on the first listen, but I don't really notice now that I've gone through a few times. The only ones that I have distinct like "wow this sounds notably different" are haunted and better than revenge (and I say that in a good way!) I think her breath support is a lot better now that she's older, which means she can do a lot of things vocally that she wanted to do that she wasn't quite vocally ready for in 2010.
I do miss a little of the breathiness, just because it matched how young she was with the tone of the album (I get why some people think it's too polished), but overall it didn't bother me.
Not a fan of the lyric change (I never really...got what was *so* bad about the original lyric) but I'll get used to it
VAULT SONGS!
Electric Touch: PATRICK AND TAYLOR'S VOICES SOUND SO GOOD TOGETHER. Taylor on a FOB song when??? This one I was so excited for because FOB and Taylor are my two favorite artists, so I loved it
Castles Crumbling: attacked me specifically. Love love. Wish Hayley had been a litttttle more prominent but it's fine
Timeless: I love this one too! The concept is so fun- I definitely see this one becoming a fave
Foolish One: pour one out for the girlies that are our own worst enemies
I can see you: WOW. I can see why she didn't put it on the original but looooool it's a bop
When Emma falls in love: probably my least favorite of the vaults, but it's a taylor song so I still really like it! I think I'm just not sure what it's conveying
Thanks for reading!

hiya!! can i ask if youu could assign ur fave characters fob songs, which would u choose and why? (i asked about fob a while back teehee i love seeing other fob fans in the wild)
FOB NONNIE PLEASEEE u always ask questions that make me sit here and THINK!!! THIS WAS SO HARD!!!!!!!!! /pos /pos /lh since this is my dca blog, i'll give u the songs i picked for sun, moon, and eclipse (the way i like them- as in, highkey unstable)
first up for moon: my songs know what you did in the dark. specifically these lines:
i'm just dreamin' of tearing you apart i'm in the deep details with the devil so now the world can never get me on my level ... i've got the scars from tomorrow and i wish you could see that you're the antidote to everyone except for me
these were chosen bc i LOVE glitched out moon and the angst that comes with him!! he's so broken and wants to destroy destroy destroy bc of the virus rahhhhhhh!!!!
for eclipse: irresistible. i'm doing them not based on ruin but on how the fandom characterized them before!!
coming in unannounced, drag my nails on the tile i just follow your scent, you can just follow my smile ... you ought to keep me concealed, just like i was a weapon i didn't come for a fight, but i will fight till the end ... i love the way you hurt me, baby ... frame me up on your wall just to keep me out of trouble
i feel like those first two lines nail eclipse right on the head with how creepy they can be LOL. and they come out in certain instances like a weapon.... very much chaotic but like. will do anything for u<3
finally, for sun: sugar, we're going down bc i LOVE unhinged sun!!
am i more than you bargained for yet? i've been dying to tell you anything you wanna hear cause that's just who i am this week ... i'm just a notch in your bedpost, but you're just a line in a song ... i'll be your number one with a bullet a loaded god complex, cock it and pull it
sun is like. highkey so dangerous LMFAO and he's such a lying liar who lies!! especially when it comes to moon and the glitch!!! but lmao he would def kill for u, very loyal!!
for sure take these lyrics at a surface level LMAO i didn't think toooo deeply about them!! and now it's my turn to ask u the same question nonnie: what songs would u assign for the dca?

i will now be rating all the vault tracks and saying my opinion even tho no one prolly cares. these are like my real time reactions so my thoughts are all over the place and im sorry for that
Electric Touch feat. Fall Out Boy: I think this was the song i was most excited for because as a fan of FOB i was really excited to see how they would collab together. this song is really just reinforcing that she needs to do a rock album. i really like how they're voices blend and i think this is a great song. the meaning of it fits with a lot of the other songs, specifically the sadder songs. also the bridge has me covered in goosebumps. im going to give it a 12/13
When Emma Falls In Love: i really like this song. i can deeply relate to it. i love the little metaphors in it i think they just add to the sing so well. i'll give it a 11/13
I Can See You: i've seen a lot of people already talking ab this but anyways. i love the ah ah ahs in the beginning. it seems like a little throwback to mine and i could just be reading into it to much but that's the vibes of it. i also love the lower register she's singing in, like how she does in folklore. also the lyrics šŸ¤šŸ¤. they're making me blush lol. her storytelling is amazing and i feel like im seeing the story in my head being played out as a movie. this song is a showing a side of taylor we don't always see and im loving it. this song especially with her lower voice (if you couldn't tell i love it) is like ear candy to me. this is a 13/13 song
Castles Crumbling feat. Hayley Williams: this is the other song i was really excited to hear. i love the way their voices blend as well. also i saw someone show the similarities between this song and ciwyw and now that's all i'm thinking ab. also hayley williams voice is also ear candy. even though i don't relate to this song on a personal level i still love it so much. also verse 3 i feel has so much weight and is a little for lack of a better word throwback to reputation and anti-hero and i love that. i love that in some way either intentional or not ties together. im giving this song a 12/13
Foolish One: im starting to notice a theme between all the vault songs (not that that's a bad thing). the chorus hits so close to home i thought she was watching me for a minute lol. actually scratch that the whole damn song is my life. "Now im sliding down the wall with my head in my hands" is how i react to every sad song she ever wrote lmao. this song was great 12/13
Timeless: wow im on the last song of the album. 104 minutes felt like 35. i don't think i'm ready for this to be the last song. i love this song and the meaning behind this. i think this song was perfect for speak now. "Story of a romance torn apart by fate. Hundreds of years ago they fell in love like we did. And i'd die for you in the same way if i first saw your face" this screams Romeo and Juliet, which immediately makes me think of Love Story. yet another instance of taylor tying all of her music together. once again i love the message behind this song. 13/13
wow that was a lot to write and read. if you got this far i'd love to hear your opinion if your willing to share. i can't believe i listened to the album in all one sitting. i started at 12 am and i'm finishing this up at 2:04 am.

Top 5 FOB albums (and why infinity on high is #1)
i have the some incredibly terrible, awful news for you and i will make it up to you by ranking my top five songs from ioh (and will likely disappoint you there as well). including favorite lyrics, tho not based on depth but rather personal humor and enjoyment.
i've got all this ringing in my ears and none on my fingers ā€“ i just ranked this one as my second recommended song but i went and listened to literally the first 30 seconds and decided it is, in fact, number one on the album. ā€¢ favorite line: tell the boys where to find my body (specifically the way "find my body" is sang)
it's hard to say "i do", when i don't ā€“ i know this is a bonus track but it's a number two ranking song in my heart, i could not let it fall to honorable mention status ā€¢ favorite line: i speak fast and i'm not gonna repeat myself (proceeds to enunciate every word like never heard before, i do not question a single lyric in this song)
"the take over, the break's over" ā€“ just a banger, what do i say ā€¢ favorite line: don't pretend you'll ever forget about me
thnks fr th mmrs ā€“ classic. side note, i saw this in a fall out boy wedding melody, and, first and foremost, beautiful. second, we actually were not paying an ounce of attention to the lyrics, were we? ā€¢ no one line in this song is superior over another (code for: i can't decide)
you're crashing, but you're no wave ā€“ couldn't remember why i liked this one so much until hearing the chorus and just enjoying it's vibe ā€¢ favorite line: baby boy can't lift his headached head / isn't it tragic? (me with a migraine)
honorable mentions will be given to:
this ain't a scene, it's an arms race (classic classic)
i'm like a lawyer with the way i'm always trying to get you off (me + you) ("eyes the size of baby worlds" lmao)
do you know who i think i am?
would absolutely hate to go on beat shazam and have to remember any of these song titles.

Toxic goes for wellll over half the ships on your blog /lh
Number one, I think the only time Igor or Snape would ever listen to that rock stuff would literally only if they're trying to cover the sounds of nasty loud fucking [especially Igor's dirty ass] because there is no way these mfers are not filthy little perverts. Like to the point where, while I don't hc it [Ur blog has convinced me to ship them btw so congrats on that šŸ‘] that they ONLY fuck nasty for this reason, I wouldn't bat a mf eye if it turned out they only boned because no one else would engage in their kinks/fetishes/whatever
Also if you liked Out of the Flames I could send you some similar solos/songs w solos that are similar and you can see if you like them for anybody
Number two, while I don't think the lyrics to Hit Em Up fit Edmund at all, the way she sings makes me sort of see it.
Number three, while we're on the topic of Igor and Charity Burbage, do you think The Mighty Fall by FOB or Go to War by Nothing More would suit them? Especially in the lyrics
Okay but like,, over half of my ships are toxic in one way or another but would Toxic by Britney Spears specifically suit all of them?? I don't think so tbh
I also think Igor is much more in touch with his wants and desires and kinks and all that shit than Severus is because Severus is still stuck on that whole "am I,, desirable somehow?? Are you sure??" thing. I think Igor fucks much rougher with Severus than he would with for example Charity. Also in the wise words of another anon "homeboy obviously lays mad pipe" so in an effort to not completely wreck Charity with his humongous schlong he takes that whole thing out on Severus too. There are a lot more hair-pulling, sort of odd locations (not like,, public but picture some sort of free-use setting with Igor getting horny while Severus is making a sandwich or some shit and suddenly homeboy is trying to bend him over the table while he's still making the fucking sandwich. It's not even for Igor). I'm also,, I'm cooking up some kinks and shit for Igor over here while I'm making my list and it kinda started as a joke but I would not be surprised if he was a into piss kind of guy. IM SORRY BUT JUST,,, LOOOK AT HIM OKAY!!! I don't mean to bring piss into this but like,, he would let someone piss on him, I just don't think he gives a shit. I doubt you'd get Severus or Charity to piss on him tho but you know vjnfjbngjb. I don't think he'd actively seek it out per se but like,, a nonchalant thing for piss??? Idk if that's a thing LMAO
In short about the,, how does Igor and Severus fuck thing: I don't think they necessarily fuck nasty, I just think they are nasty and they fuck lmaoooo. They fuck rough and like,, the best Severus is gonna get after a round is a rag that should have been thrown out ages ago or a half dry wet wipe that Igor probably cleaned beer up with earlier or something like that vfnjbngjb
I love how this was,, completely unrelated to the actual ask, this was about them fucking to rock stuff (which eh, I could see it to an extent or Igor would just turn the volume up on his shitty and super chunky television) and suddenly piss has been mentioned on this blog jnvfjbng I'm sorry you guys but also I stand by it
I would love it if you sent more solos!!! Or just songs in general you might think suits anyone I would love to analyse them vfjnbjg
Okay I see what you mean cause like,, the vibes of this song is mean girl housewife gossiping at brunch half leaned over food they won't eat, hand covering their mouths as they whisper shit to each other and that is the correct vibes Edmund!!! He is actually such a gossip, I don't know what this man would do if he couldn't throw a "it's not lashon hara if it's true" every time he'd said something that someone else might think is a little too intense I'd be so so curious to see any other songs you think would fit him vibe wise or lyrics wise!!!
I especially love the whole "baby we should have left our love in the gutter where we found it" and "hell yeah, I'm a dick, girl, addicted to you" and I also ready like "You've got my heart And I've got your soul But are we better off alone?"
I think they're both close to capturing seabunny really well but there's just something missing a little bit, maybe they both feel a little too not toxic for me or something jnbgjbnjg idk I do think there's non toxic seabunny out there but I just don't think it happens in like,, a canon au you know?? And that's sort of where my brain goes with the whole war thing

One of those playlist challenges but actually tagged by a mutual this time
I see you @thunderdone Thanks for the tag! Rules: You can usually tell a lot about a person by the type of music they listen to. Put your playlist on shuffle and list the first 10 songs, and then tag 10 people. No skipping!
I much like thunder have a million fucking playlists and they all have different vibes so here's from my likes as well. Be prepared for whiplash, and no explanation because my taste is... wild xD
1. It's All Futile! It's All Worthless! - Lovejoy Wilbur, and indie-alt. Need I say more?
2. 4BLOOD - Kira, Hatsune Miku I got nothing... This can only be explained by the words: "Animation Meme Vibes".
3. Everybody Loves Me - OneRepublic Literal animation memes. Uh...., that and one hell of a smarmy character/confidence booster song lmao
4. Pushing Me Away - Linkin Park A bitch do be depressed
5. Killer Queen - Mad Tsai Uh, animation, storytelling but also savage spite revenge song vibes. And if anyone knows me, they know I like my sarcastic bitch vibes probably a bit too much
6. Roses Are Red (Violets Are Blue) - Jon Caryl A bitch do be depressed 2 electric boogaloo
7. Lying is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off - Panic! at the Disco Vaguely edgy alt-pop with a hell of a sound. Idk, it's old P!atD so yeah vaguely nostalgic and has a good sound. Just... pleasing to the earbones *shrugs*
8. Hourglass - Set It Off We're just rolling through my edgy picks aren't we, goddamn! One of my "fuck it all and fight" vibe songs, when you want to wear stompy boots and tip your chin up at the world. Could accurately be described as: "everything sucks so fuck it, what else could go wrong?"
9. Until the Wolves Come Out - NateWantsToBattle It's his friggin original album, with P!atD mixed with FOB vibes, and a hint of "fuck it society won't listen so I'll make them" vibes. Good fucking shit. Not my favorite song from this album but definitely a good one! (check him out, did a lot of fandom stuff too, you've probably heard his stuff. I genuinely prefer his original stuff funnily enough tho lmao)
10. Songs for a Guilty Sadist - Crywank Blame Wilbur. Don't actually listen to this much at all, but it's what came up. I like the chords and lyrics, just not Crywanks specific version. One of those weird times I like a cover more than the OG Honorable mention: Pinch Me - Young Friend Idk alt-indie-pop kinda? Depressed but cheery, masking vibes. Love me some masking vibes.
Honorable mention 2 Electric Boogaloo: "Cosmic Dreams - Intro" - Jay Sarma, Ritorikal I like instrumental stuff, especially if it makes me feel like I'm in an edgy concept anime video, witnessing the end of the universe and the beginning of a new one, going through a metamorphosis one might say.
Conclusion: What I'm learning is that, wow I'm depressed and it *shows* xD
Tag Time! uh, Honestly I don't have 10 people I'd tag, lets try @baronazazel @littledreamsoflife @thepidgeonqueen @catzoomies @corveknight And uh, anyone else who wants to try lol. Also no req to do this and if you've already been tagged, feel free to ignore!

analyze disloyal order pls :)
Ahh this one is a big one... Very happy to analyze it though!! Lets dig into it!!!: (typical disclaimer: I try to not make my lyric analyses/interpretations too personal to the artist bc truly Idk what the fuck Pete was going thru when he wrote this, so I'm trying to look at it from a storytelling/theme perspective but with some songs, like this one, thatā€™s hard blah blah blah thank u <3):
So, just as a brief overview, this song is Very much summed up in the first line,Ā ā€œIā€™m coming apart at the seamsā€. Itā€™s a breakdown, written out and put to music. The degradation of the narrators life/mental state, in my view, at least. And also otherā€™s perception of things like a breakdown. As I said, the first lyric can sum up the entire song Pretty nicely, but lets explore that lyric itself a bit more: "I'm coming apart at the seams / Pitching myself for leads in other people's dreams", fob lyrics arenā€™t often self-explanatory at all, and many in this song Arenā€™t... However... I feel this one can be interpreted as pretty straightforward, no? The narrator feels like theyā€™re fall apart, their life is unraveling before them, and they just wish they could be somebody else, anybody else, at this point, as their own dreams and life are Not working out. (If you wanted to try and connect the dots to Peteā€™s life, well... This was supposedly written at a low point for fob and Pete himself... Life as he knew it was falling apart and he wanted to be someone else, perhaps...)Ā
ā€œDoc, there's a hole where something was / Doc, there's a hole where something wasā€, now, for this lyric Pete annotated on genius sayingĀ ā€˜I am forever having doctors analyze me for problems I do not haveā€™ which is... a Lot. And another direction I could go entirely for this analysis and this lyric specifically... Thereā€™s something to be said for doctorā€™s not listening to their patients, not believing them about what a Real problem might be, if you wanted to take this lyric literally with what Pete annotated in mind... which would tie into the theme of the song, falling apart, a breakdown... the doctor is trying to diagnose an illness or problem when itā€™s just... this personā€™s life falling apart. Dreams dying. However, that IS what I interpret this lyric as saying more than something super literal like doctorā€™s sucking at their jobs lmao. Thereā€™s something missing, this narratorā€™s dream(s) are Dying and theyā€™re breaking down about it and trying to Fix it... but thatā€™s not something a doctor can fix, is it?Ā
ā€œFell out of bed, butterfly bandage, but don't worry / You'll never remember, your head is far too blurryā€ So! This is where the song Really starts to pick up, tempo wise and lyrics wise.Ā ā€˜Fell out bedā€™, I feel, is not to be taken literally, more like... You had a bad start to a bad day, or are having a rough week/month/year, are damaged (emotionally) But! No big deal! Just solve it temporarily! Slap a butterfly bandage over it, something that is an impermanent fix to Much more (possibly) permeant problems. Supplement your emotional state with things that make you forget the pain, things that make your head blurry, and make you go Crazier in the end (alcohol... drugs... sex... nefarious things are implied)
ā€œPut him in the back of a squad car, restrain that man / He needs his head put through a CAT scanā€ is where the parts of perception come in more, though theĀ ā€˜doctorā€™ from the line before, of course, has Their own perception of the situation (breakdown), this lyric displays that even more. Pete, in the genius annotations, say this is based on a true story which is, again, a Lot to think about?? Pete :(?? Anyways! I believe this very much shows the way police officers will brush off people in times of crisis, mentally ill people specifically in this case, and treat them without care. They just perceive them as crazy, undeserving of respect... should just be restrained and thrown in the squad car in their time of need. Versus doctorā€™s viewing mentally ill people as people that just need to be analyzed and Studied to be taken care of... they just need to be ran through CAT scans and MRIā€™s and doctorā€™s NEED to figure out whatā€™s wrong, not Actually help the patient in need. So, our narrator, this person Obviously going through something Already with dead dreams and a blurry head is now getting bereted from Two sides: The police and doctorā€™s in the literal sense of the song, but there is Also this ugly dichotomy in society too.
ā€œHey editor, I'm undeniable / Hey Doctor, I'm certifiableā€ is another relatively straightforward line? I think? Itā€™s just saying, especially in respect to Fame (ā€™cause Peteā€™s famous... and it is Very hard to ignore that in this lyric and song in general), that the narrator feels they deserve to be in the spotlight and Seen and Need that attention but also know that they are Not doing well. They are not in a good state and are certifiably mentally ill. But theyā€™re also craving attention. Attention to their mental illness, perhaps? Either in a truly attention-seeker way Or as more of a cry for help? Whoā€™s to say.
ā€œOh, I'm a loose bolt of a complete machine / What a match, I'm half-doomed, and you're semi-sweetā€ so... this is the lyric where the interesting dynamic of this song Possibly being a love song? Or... To someone, I suppose? As until this point it seems the narrator is only referring to themself but suddenly theyā€™re referencing another person. I donā€™t quite feel thereā€™s enough substance to that to make the entire analysis around it, but it Is worth pointing out, that there could easily be someone beside the narrator this whole time, trying to keep them together, maybe? I digress.. anyways... The narrator shows once again that they feel theyā€™re falling apart, this time as a part of a machine... Perhaps thatĀ ā€˜machineā€™ reference could be society (or a relationship šŸ‘€), where they feel theyā€™re falling apart so much so that they donā€™t feel a complete part of society anymore. They feel like theyā€™re just a loose bolt in society, trying to help everything run, and not doing a good job. The next lyric, Pete says in genius annotations is,Ā ā€˜sometimes about a girlā€™ butĀ ā€˜honestly sometimes about Patrickā€™ which is just... yeah. He feels this person (a girl or Patrick) is aĀ ā€˜matchā€™ for him, though itā€™s almost said sarcastically? But just, like, the vibe I get from these lyrics together is that the narrator relies on this person, even if they feel they are not right for them and that they Arenā€™t actually a perfect match.Ā
ā€œSo boycott love, detox just to retox / And I'd promise you anything for another shot at lifeā€ now the relationship-related aspects of this song play into these lyrics a bit more, the narrator feels So wronged by love (and life too, I think) that they feel the need to write it off completely... even though they know theyā€™re just going to go back to it. Like a drug. And want another shot at it, love or life... the lyric says life, which I wholeheartedly feel matches the theme of the song More- Perhaps this lyric is aimed at the love interest, or the narrator, but either way? Another chance at living life and accomplishing dreams is Wanted, itā€™s Needed in this song sorely for the narrator specifically. Theyā€™re giving up on love, just to go back to it, and are desperate for another shot at everything. To try it all again and not feel like a failure, an outcast... a broken member of society.
ā€œAnd perfect boys with their perfect lives / Nobody wants to hear you sing about tragedyā€ this all just, like, perfectly sums up the themes of the song too, honestly. The narrator is clearly jealous of these people that they deem perfect, they want a shot at That life, a perfect one. But nobody wants to hear the narrators woes... because, perhaps, the narrator is seen as someone with a perfect life (if we brought Pete back into this... I very much feel that is true for him. Heā€™s rich and famous so shouldnā€™t have any problems. No one wants to hear a rich person complain about life.) or the narrator just Feels like nobody cares. They perceive that no one is listening or wants to actually help them... as no one, up till now, has shown that they want to.Ā
ā€œLittle girl, got me staring odd / Or was that just a telescopic camera nodā€.... I am going to be completely honest... Not too sure what this means lmao. Iā€™ve thought about it a lot! Itā€™s just... itā€™s not coming together for me in my mind? I feel this could Easily be about perception again, as telescopic camera lenses increase focal length even though the lens itself is shorter than the focal length? So perhaps the narrator isĀ ā€˜staring oddā€™ because his perception of life is off, because of what heā€™s going through.Ā
ā€œP-p-painted dolls in the highway, truck stop stalls / Lot lizards scales cool my nightlife moodsā€ these lyrics are undeniably about prostitutes'/prostitution, to start off bluntly. The narrator is, well, seeking things to make them forget their problems, right? As I stated earlier, sex could easily be one of those things. Theyā€™re seeking a warm body to lay with thatā€™ll ease the pain and damage done by a past lover and their life falling apart in general.
ā€œAll the rookies, leave your badge and your gun on the desk / When you leave the roomā€ like the telescopic camera nod lyric, this one is a Bit confounding, however... I feel it could just be referencing how the narrator feels untrusted. As the lyric, in a literal sense, is saying that a head officer(?) is requesting the rookies to leave their badge, a sign of status and honor, and gun, protection and another sign of status tbh, on the desk before leaving. They donā€™t get to keep those things, as they likely arenā€™t trusted with them. With our narrator, because of the state they are in, they donā€™t seem to Feel like theyā€™re trusted. Theyā€™re falling apart, after all, a loose bolt in the machine that is society. They donā€™t feel they deserve something to show status or honor, or at least, doesnā€™t think that Society thinks they deserve this... even if They themselves feel differently (which, given theĀ ā€˜editor, Iā€™m certifiableā€™ line earlier? I feel the narrator Does believe they deserve trust and status and honor despite what theyā€™re going through.)
The rest of the song just repeats the chorus several times and reinforces what I said about those lyrics- Giving up on love just to go back to it, and feeling like they deserve another chance at hopes and dreams, in a different life. Overall, this song is just what I said it was in the beginning- the degradation of oneā€™s life put to music. It is insanely depressing, especially the longer you think about it all. The narrator feels like they arenā€™t trusted, that no one is in their corner, theyā€™ve been unlucky in love and life, and just want another chance. They just seem to want someone to care and listen to them and be a match to them. But they donā€™t have that, or at least, they donā€™t feel they have that. They just have people perceiving their life and situation incorrectly, while on the inside they feel like theyā€™re absolutely being torn apart.Ā

asks from the prompt:
disloyal order of water buffaloes what a catch, donnie just one yesterday the last of the real ones
disloyal order of water buffaloes: which is your favourite fall out boy lyric?
asking my favourite fall out boy anything is actually a hate crime so /j
in all seriousness, i dont have a favorite! ive always got a different lyric stuck in my head, although theres some that stick around more than others. atm im chewing on "tip your glass to no direction" because i think its such a good double entendre (tip your glass to no direction in particular OR tip your glass to the concept of having no direction) that its just. quintessential fob.
what a catch donnie: favourite artist thats featured in a fob song?
personally, i think big sean MURDERED his verse on the mighty fall, and i think foxes was excellent on just one yesterday. and of COURSE burna boys verse on sunshine riptide was fucking amazing and i love that he just dropped some yoruba in there. i should speak patois randomly just to keep yall on your toes lmao.
i dont often listen to artists Because theyre featured on my faves songs, but i do definitely have my favourite features who i think genuinely made the song better, and those are mine!
just one yesterday: did you like the youngblood chronicles?
i did, in fact, like the youngblood chronicles. its like. actually good. and i feel like its a good example of fob doing their lil trendsetter thing, bc i dont know of many artists doing album movies pre ybc and now theres like a gazillion (most of which id say are without a doubt better and more Prestigeā„¢ but ybc was a Moment)
the last of the real ones: do you consider fall out boy "sellouts"?
ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! i think people dont understand the term sellout at all, and throw it around whenever an artist changes their sound or works with a big company. selling out is a specific thing, wherein you make decisions based soley on whats popular. while changing your sound for broader appeal is definitely selling out (mr at the disco. sir.) staying exactly the same so as not to upset your fanbase is also a form of selling out (i feel like a lot of pop punk acts do this).
fall out boy changes their sound constantly, but they always do something genuinely interesting musically and lyrically. they make decisions based on what they want to do, not what will be popular with their fans and not what will be popular with the mainstream. ive said this before but theres a lot of evidence that what people think of as selling out is just fall out boy working with black artists and black genres (this aint a scene + ioh, the mighty fall, make america psycho again, sunshine riptide, dear future self) and its just really transparent that "mainstream" is sort of a dogwhistle at this point.
as you can tell i think about this a lot.
thank you for asking!

For the fanfic ask tag- A: How do you come up with titles, in general? (Titles are so hard for me!)
oh god titles are SO hard for me too! titles and endings are my undoing in terms of fics
i'd say that like 98% of my fic titles are song lyrics, with a few exceptions when a specific theme of the fic fits (like "carte blanche" for example which i thought was a good name)
what i do is i finish the fic and have it completely ready to go and then i sulk and go search for the title
usually my process is: open spotify and open all of my favorites bands and read the song titles until i think one could fit into my story, so i open the lyrics and see if any lines fit and would be good as a title (like "in this world there's only you" which is from a song that i think fits very well)
sometimes i can't find anything like that so i just look for my favorite songs by those artists, even if the song doesn't fit the story, and see if a single line can make sense (like "so we can go back and play pretend" which is from my favorite fob song which doesn't fit at all with the story)
and sometimes it's not one of my favorite bands but it's a song i really like and have been thinking while writing (like "lift your open hand" bc it's literally a fic about kissing and i hadĀ to use kiss me)
sometimes it's a concoction of all three
tl;dr i just steal song lyrics and hope they fit well into my story and it's all a huge mess lmao

Well, I was tagged by @poeticallyspaghetti to answer 21 questions and tag 21 people
1. Nickname: I donā€™t have many nicknames honestly, most people just call me by my actual name. Although when I donā€™t like giving my name out, I default to Jay. My mom also calls me chirris, pingĆ¼ino, and a bunch of other things in Spanish I have no idea how to spell lmao.
2. Zodiac sign: Pisces! (Pisces sun, Scorpio moon, and capricorn rising if anyone interested lmao)
3. Height: I donā€™t know exactly but itā€™s around 5ā€™2ā€/5ā€™3ā€
4. Hogwarts house: HUFFLEPUFF!!!!! Ppl bash on hufflepuff so much but Iā€™ll bash their faces in if they talk shit about my house to my face :)
5. Last thing I googled: the lyrics to Sheā€™s in the Rain by the Rose, I like writing lyrics down in my notebook, sue me
6. Favorite artists: BTS, Monsta X, The Rose, 5 Seconds of Summer, Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy, and im starting to get into Ateez and Chung Ha. Iā€™m also kinda into Twenty One pilots but Iā€™m not a huge fan lmao
7. Song stuck in my head: Well itā€™s an English medley of all the songs from Your Lie in April by Amanda Lee. If youā€™re into anime and youā€™re interested in English covers, check out her YouTube channel-itā€™s AmaLee. I love her songs and Iā€™m a huge fan of Synchronicity and her SAO covers.
8. Favorite time of day: aaaaa Iā€™d say sunset. Itā€™s just so pretty, and every day itā€™s a different sight to see. Like some of them are similar but the variety of colors that can appear is so beautiful. And golden hour is gorgeous, even if I do get blinded by the sun lmao
9. Favorite color: pink! šŸŒø specifically baby pink, itā€™s just such a soft and pretty color I love it so much
10. Following: 174 (wow I need to unfollow some people)
11. Followers: 33 (I love yā€™all :) thx for following this dumbass lmao)
12. Do I get asks: rarely! I do want more though so donā€™t be shy and send some in if you want!
13. Amount of sleep: I like to sleep a lot, which is weird bc Iā€™m also a night owl. I also get REALLY cranky without enough sleep, and I can fall asleep just about anywhere if Iā€™m tired enough honestly lmao. If Iā€™m on a road trip (not driving) Iā€™ll nod off easily just because long car rides put me to sleep strangely
14. Favorite number: 26, 2, or 6! All of them related to my birthday lmao
15. Why is there no number 15: one of these other numbers murdered number 15, now we need to solve this murder mystery. Iā€™m looking at you, number 9 šŸ‘€ number 3 is also a suspect.
16. Dream job: honestly. Iā€™m still trying to figure this one out myself. My only real goal in life is to be as happy as I possibly can, so I donā€™t really mind what I do. My uncles putting a lot of pressure on me to become a pilot tho šŸ˜“
17. Instruments: i used to be in band in middle school, I played the flute, I wish I could play the piano though. I also took choir through the entirety of high school, so does my voice count?? (Nope probs not)
18. Language: Primarily English, but I grew up speaking both English and Spanish. As I got into my teenage years I quit speaking spanish so I lost a lot of it. Iā€™m picking it back up though, Iā€™m pretty fluent, Iā€™m just missing a few words and grammatical stuff.
19. Favorite songs: oooooooooo ok by MX: Lost in the Dream, Myself, Alligator, and Ghost. BTS: Crystal Snow, Best of Me, Euphoria, Home, and Dionysus. By The Rose itā€™s California, Sheā€™s in the Rain, Insomnia, and Candy. 5sos: Youngblood, If Walls Could Talk. P!atd: Saturday Night, The End of All Things. Fob: Heavenā€™s Gate, Fourth of July, Death Valley.
20. A random fact: I canā€™t say ā€œexistential.ā€ like if I focus on pronouncing it properly then yes but if Iā€™m rambling like I normally do it usually comes out as ā€œex-shti-shten-shialā€ idk why, but itā€™s just the weird sound my mouth makes.
21. Aesthetic: eh i donā€™t really know how to describe it. I wanna say pink and soft and glittery (shimmery more like) but Iā€™ll ask some of my irl friends and see what they have to say. Iā€™ll come back to this one
Lastly, the tags! Iā€™ve never been one for tagging people, so if anyone wants to do it, feel free to say I tagged you!
Thanks for coming to my ted talk lmao

for the "give me a letter..." ask meme: s!
!!!! thank you thank you! i am so happy you sent me a letter! *cracks knuckles* ok ok
+ shapeshift (jenna doe): currently listening over and over. i can't remember how i cam across this one recently, but. her voice? her writing? the way she gives me nostalgic feels? *grabby hands* it's been a while since i have found an artist on my own (not like maya and joe, that was brought to me by themselves and the fandom). i love that feeling of needing more from an artist and just sitting at the edge of your seat for the next single they graciously hand feed you. //and she's so sweet, bubblegum, cherry; and i'm salty, might make your gums bleed//
+ sophmore slump or comeback of the year (fall out boy): fob, fob, fob. this song. the way their track titles read like a millennial magazine cover and the way they have their unique way of talking to the listener in their songs. idk. fuck. i will always love these fuckers. //we're the kids you used to love, but then we grew old. we're the lifers, here 'til the bitter end, condemned from the start, ashamed of the way the songs and the words own the beating of our hearts// annnnd //there's a drug in the thermostat to warm the room up and there's another around to have us bend your trust; got a sunset in my veins and i need to take a pill to make this town feel okay// been slowly working on a tattoo for the second bit lyric for years because. its perfect. this song is perfect.
+ seventy times 7 (brand new): ever since the cutest cheerleader in my 4th period world history ap class made me a mix cd with this song on it i haven't released my chokehold on it. it is my go to song when i am pissed at anyone, especially when platonic relationships come to a crashing end. its mean, but fuck if they don't know how to capture this very specific feeling, when friendships die. //so is that what you call a getaway? tell me what you got away with cause i've seen more spine in jellyfish, i've seen more guts in eleven year old kids. have another drink and drive yourself home. i hope there's ice on all the roads and you can think of me when you forget your seat belt and again when your head goes through the windshield. is that what you call tact, you're as subtle as a brick in the small of my back. so let's end this call and end this conversation. and is that what you call a getaway? tell me what you got away with cause you left the frays from the ties you severed when you say "bEST FRIENDS" MEANS FRIENDS FOREVER// šŸ”„
+ she's in love with a boy (trisha yearwood): listen, the venn diagram of my parents' taste in music is two separate circles. they did not have any doubles in their vinyls and cassettes when they got together, okay? my dad was all bob dylan, jethro tull, and steve miller band while my mom was all fleetwood mac, barbra streisand, and james taylor. and my dad would make pick fun at my mom (lovingly) whenever she'd play a trisha yearwood cd saturday mornings. and personally, i found this song fascinating at the ripe age of 7 (it came out when i was 2, but it was mom's fave album ok) because my name was in it AND katie was in love with tommy? you mean the cute power ranger tommy? lmao. // katie looks at tommy like i still look at you//
+ sex & candy (marcy playground): i remember listening to this one back when i was like 15 and writing too much roswell fanfiction during 5th period english lit (not that i was sitting in class with my iPod playing) it was the song for maria/michael. //who's that casting devious stares in my direction? mama this surely is a dream//
send me a letter and i will write too much about my top 5 songs that start with that letter :)

Omg Iā€™m honoured you put me ā€œon blastā€!!!! I mean some of the lyrics as a whole donā€™t really make a bunch of sense in general but what I can understand matches on many diff levels!!
I have like several bones playlists of songs that match for me but never the energy or time to make edits for them! Maybe I can send you the like top 10 bones songs I have?? See if they strike inspo at all for you? I love love love lyrics edits and aghhhhhh
Eeeeeep
I donā€™t know which is my fave song but save rock and roll and American beauty/American psycho are my two fave fob albums! šŸ’žšŸ’ž
i feel like sometimes when people put so much thought, emotion, and/or analysis in the tags, i must acknowledge it lol. but yes, i must agree. the entire song definitely doesnā€™t apply, but when it does, it does perfectly šŸ‘ŒšŸ»
i have like, one song that i truly think of a show when i hear, and to be frank it doesnā€™t even apply to the characters but more so the show as a whole. foster the people's ā€œworst nitesā€ give me STRONG 9-1-1 vibes. opening scene with young LA visitors and/or locals out having a Good Time before it all goes Terribly Wrong. thatā€™s definitely the strongest connection between a song and show i have, even more than tkaa and bones. but yes, if you would like to send songs iā€™d be down to see if it stirs any inspiration! or if you think a specific line applies to a certain character/pair/etc youā€™d like gifā€™d i'll see what i can do ā˜ŗļø
and yes! ab/ap and srar are both so good šŸ˜© mania consists of some absolute Faves - ā€œheavenā€™s gateā€ oof, l o v e. currently iā€™ve had folie Ć  deux on repeat for a few days and have really locked in on ā€œamericaā€™s suiteheartsā€ and ā€œtiffany blewsā€ lol. unfortunately i make no connection to anything with the latter two other than my serotonin increasing lmao
