That Time I Reincarnated as a Lewd Monster Man Exorcist

The Cave Slime was a lot bigger than the guild scouting party reported. Bigger. Tougher. Stronger. More Aggressive. Was it possible for slimes to be mean? Were Dire Slimes even a thing? Charlotte, as a Guild Receptionist, was tasked with filling out report on the expedition. Was she a member of the Adventurer’s Guild? Yes. But, she wasn’t an adventurer! She wasn’t prepared for this! 

So why the hell did the Slime grab both the cute young redhead rogue from the guild and also Charlotte?! If this happened to be some sort of perverted, naughty-tentacle situation, Lin Lin was an obvious choice! After all, the young rogue was barely into her twentieth year: svelt and slim where she was supposed to be and perky where it counted. Lin Lin looked like she belonged in this world. And she had the speed and dexterity that suited her class. Ah, youth was wonder—that was not the point! 

The point was that Charlotte, pushing 33, and now an unwilling victim of gravity and a slowing metabolism, was also getting dragged off by the giant blue slime towards what was probably the back of the cave. Hopefully not to die via digestion. Charlotte never would have said she was particularly ugly. But, she was decidedly softer than she was in her first world, over a decade ago in her college days. Especially around the thighs and her stomach. And, well, she just wasn’t quite as ‘proud and perky’ as she was back in the day, even if she had gained a little fullness. 

When she first came to the second world, Charlotte did receive a class. Was it a fighter? Or a wizard? Would she get to shoot fireballs and Drago-Slaves like she had always wanted? Hell no. Her class was stated as ‘Lewd Exorcist’ but there was a little asterisk by it. A popup stated, as if making fun of her, ‘You can pacify angry monsters by getting fucked by them.’ 

All of this had to be a punishment of some kind. Was it because she masturbated too much to fictional characters? Or because she spent her money on custom dildos ostensibly shaped like the genitals of various fantasy monsters? Or was it her secret tentacle kink? 

Regardless, Charlotte had decided that maybe she needed a change. Her and eyes had changed to a dark, almost pine dark green. So maybe she should give up the Pervert Life and try to be normal. She decided to forget her class—which was probably just divine punishment of some kind—and get a secure, stable, and less dangerous job. 

Somewhere in the back of her mind, Charlotte noted that she would have to get a new Guild Uniform. Because the one she wore got all kinds of torn up, and was only shredding more. Some of is was probably just gone. 

It was fucking dark, ok? Charlotte couldn’t see anything, and there were no torches or magic stones along the wall to provide any light. For an undetermined amount of time, Charlotte could only feel the tight grip of the slime’s (tentacle? Pseudopod?) around her midsection as it carried her deeper and deeper into the cave. 

The worst thing was that Charlotte knew she had bought innumerable erotica stories and hentai doujins of nearly this exact situation in her past world. And it was decidedly less sexy when she thought this really might end in a very painful, very slow death. But, some horrible, horny part of her brain commented that this could very well be a dream come true. 

That part of her brain needed to learn to shut up. 

I shouldn’t have been such a horn dog, Charlotte thought. 

Or maybe I should have not been such a coward and actually learned to fight or something. Anything, she mentally lamented. 

Eventually, the darkness gave way to the tiniest light. More, then a little more. And it occurred to Charlotte that the slime was actually taking Lin Lin and herself towards a light source. After a little more time, Charlotte could make out the shape of her hand, then a handful of other, close things in an eerie green light. There, who-knew-how-deep into the cave system, there was a space the size of a small stable covered in strange plants with flowers that cast light. 

The Slime dropped Lin Lin into a make-shift cage built from thin, acid-burned lengths of stone. Then, using more strength than it should have possessed, the slime pulled a flat sheet of iron on top. 

It tossed Charlotte onto the cave floor. 

Or…set her? 

That didn’t feel right to say. But, it wasn’t nearly as rough as it could have been, even though Charlotte still ended up on her butt. 

Before Charlotte could begin pondering the unique horrors of a Slime that could use tools and pre-meditate its actions, it began to change. She was reminded of play-dough. Or, perhaps, that toy slime that kids were obsessed with before she got pulled into the other world. The slime stretched, twisted, and folded in on itself like a giant, invisible pair of hands was sculpting it. The cool, aqua blue of the creature then shifted into a bright, fluorescent green. 

Then the Slime seemed to somehow condense itself into a tighter, more defined form. Eventually, it formed the shape like a person with no fine detail. The figure seemed to have long hair pulled up into a tail, which then split off into a thick pile of slimy green tendrils. 

Ah, this must be my lucky day. I’m really going to eat great tonight. With no vocal cords, the slime seemed to telepathically express itself. The words and strange voice just wriggled into Charlotte’s head. 

It paused, then turned its featureless, flat face towards Charlotte. 

What an expression. Not like she can actually hear me. It laughed. 

Unless…she actually can? It seemed amused. 

Charlotte must not have been to keep up a pokerface. 

Perfect! The Slime’s telepathic voice bubbled. 

Half a dozen glistening, featureless tentacles shot forward from the creature.

Alright, still got a few more final episodes left to watch from this season, but it's finally time to start looking ahead to what the next season will bring.

So looking at the previews for the Fall 2024 Anime season, it's seems like a sequel heavy season. Lots of big name shows getting continuations and even a handful of big name remakes. With that being said, there's definitely some interesting looking new shows on the horizon as well.

Shangri-La Frontier S2: I need my 3 dork gamer buddies who will simultaneously be the most toxic motherfuckers to each other while being the most supportive friends possible back already… I need my queen Pencil-kun who fully embodies "gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss" with everything she does and whom is a doomed yuri survivor…

Natsume's Book of Friends S7: My boi with zero self-preservation skills and whose first instinct in every situation is self-destructive self-sacrifice (regardless of how necessary that is for the situation) is finally back! And his fat cat/fox too!

Sengoku Youko S2: While the quality has been more up and down compared to season 1, it's still been a solid adaptation so far.

Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc.: Office lady magical girl show. I'm in. Potential yuri source spotted.

Acro Trip: the second magical girl anime this year about a girl who's obsessed with magical girls but becomes the leader of an evil organization that fights them. Very much interested in it. Potential yuri source spotted.

Dandadan: I have a number of friends who are obsessed with this one so I was already interested in it but even if I didn't, the fact that it's also being animated by fucking Science SARU would have been enough.

Demon Lord 2099: Fantasy demon lord awakens to find out his fantasy setting is now a cyberpunk one. Yeah okay, that sound really neat. I'm down for some fantasy x cyberpunk

Good Bye, Dragon Life: fantasy series about dragon that dies and gets reincarnated as some dude. Sounds alright but the main waifu character being a lamia is enough for me to give it a try.

Puniru wa Kawaii Slime: Slime girl anime. Yeah that's probably all it takes to sell me on it.

I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History: I feel like I have to give most villainess isekais a try at this point. So sure, Villainess Isekai where the MC wants to actually be the evil villainess.

I wanna introduce y'all to an oc/story concept I've had for a while now.

Oc created using the "Bright's Picrew Hell" since I am terrible at drawing.

Basically its a parody and deconstruction of an Isekai story - aka "character is teleported/reincarnated into another world" (for example KonoSuba, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Digimon etc.)

The main character of this idea is Sekai Ishida; a gloomy shut-in with cerebral palsy and spinal bifida who's dealing with having aged out of the foster system and finding supports for his disability. Sekai was minding his own business going to career training when;

Sekai, being physically disabled, is unable to climb out of the way of a speeding subway car when he stumbles (or was tripped) onto the tracks. He closes his eyes.

He awakens to find himself dumped through a portal to a magical fantasy world.

When the many gods greeting him in the space between worlds ask him if he wishes for a boon to bring with him into this new life; Sekai impulsively replies "Give me back my crutches."

Well shit now he's just some Japanese guy with severe mobility issues in a dnd-inspired medieval kingdom with no fighting experience or magical add-on. What's a guy to do?

Wormwood; an Aberrant demon looking for a host: "

Wormwood: "Hey you wanna-" Sekai, already fed-up: "Whatever, sure." (*shakes hand*) Wormwood: "Damn, ok. Didn't even need a sales pitch." Workwood: (*painfully merges into Sekai's body*) Wormwood: "...damn bitch, you live like this?" Sekai: "Yeah." Wormwood: "I can't even look into parts of your brain." Sekai: "Yeah those don't work." Wormwood: "Screw this, I'm finding another off-worlder for my plans." (*nothing happens*) Wormwood: "...why can't I leave?" Sekai: "HAH! You're trapped in here with me!" Wormwood, tentacles waving frantically: "I can't even move your legs!" Sekai, gestures to crutches, laughing manically: "Neither can I!" Wormwood: "You are evil."

So now Sekai has one thing going for him; an inky symbiote-esque demon thats trapped in his body that's pretty keen on keeping Sekai alive. For now.

Also, you know how the demon mentioned "off-worlders"?

Yeah. Sekai isn't the only one.

It's a frequent phenomena in the magical kingdom, to the point that there are new laws in place to deal with people that fall through.

Notably:

Report immediately to the King.

Surrender all technology and/or organics to the crown.

Any accompanying animals will be quarantined or destroyed.

If it looks like nothing fell out of a portal hole - no it didn't. Evacuate the area immediately.

Off-Worlders should avoid making deals with spirit and/or demons, as they are an untapped source of raw magical life force (Sekai: "Oops"), and can cause the world around them to glitch and break down since they're essentially aliens.

Its not always human either. Dogs, cats, birds, and trilobites frequently wander/fall in. Imagine the utter terror of villagers used to dragon when they see a saltwater crocodile for the first time.

It's not always humans or organic things that fall in though. Like in Digimon where a subway car or a fridge full of eggs would randomly glitch in.

The ultimate common denominator is people and things that have experienced "glitches in the matrix"-style disappearances and have just... disappeared back in their home time/dimension. Oh yeah, people from completely different cultures and universes can fall through too.

Sekai (and his tag-along wormwood) occassionally fall into other universes due to Wormwood's own research into interdimensional travel. It was the very reason he sought out a host - someone proven to be able to handle the trip. Sekai hates this. HATES THIS. Let him have junk food and video games again!

Dear Isekai Anime Fan

I recall in one universe Galvatron attempting to escape Unicron’s control he used his Time-jump trigger device to warp himself back in time. However due to that world’s so called "Summoning Rituals" it interfered with his time jump and pulled him to that world instead. Confused and disorientated Galvatron made quick work of his Summoners where he terrorized a small village in the Kingdom of Falmuth. After getting some knowledge of that world he saw it as a opportunity to conquer the world. Though due to his inferiority complex on organic lifeforms he heavily underestimated their inhabitants such he took Heros, Demon Lords and True Dragons too lightly here. Eventually he was able to bring Cyclonus and Scourge over where they plan to make it rain fire on the Western Nations by starting with Falmuth with the Kingdom defenseless due to them in their war with the nation of Monsters Tempest they had zero opposition though even if they did have their forces in the Kingdom it would not matter as Galvatron alone could crush Falmuth’s army. Galvatron claimed Falmuth for his own and renamed it to Kaon Empire with the capital being called Kaon.

Though Galvatron forgot one factor… Rimuru Tempest. While Galvatron took over Falmuth the one known as Rimuru Tempest destroyed Falmuth’s army to become a Demon Lord. After he woke up he found out about Galvatron taking over Falmuth which threw a wrench in his own plans to make the human known as Youm was planned to be a new leader so Falmuth would be more friendlt to monsters. However he was too focused on Clayman so he had his forces focused on the Demon Lord instead.

With all the Demon Lords at Walpurgis the Western Nations were defenseless as Galvatron forced Falmuth’s citizens to build a army of Zods and Vehicon drones where they crushed most of the other human nations. Though thanks to Galvatron’s invasion the Demon Lords were forced to end the Banquet early as the Demon Lord known Luminous Valentine hearing of the Decepticons invasion went back to her nation soon as possible. She and the one called Hinata Sakaguchi with the Western Holy Church fought through Galvatron’s army. Though once they faced Galvatron himself while Luminous Valentine is indeed a very powerful being however due to Galvatron being advanced technology in a midevil world, being upgraded by Unicron himself, and the power he extracted from world’s rich energy sources he would defeat the two in combat though they didn’t go down without a fought and fought bravely. It amused the Decepticon leader a bit and made him grew more cautious that more like them after he heavily underestimated them and took some damage because of it.

It sent a shock throughout the Demon Lords that one of the oldest and strongest Demon Lords was taken down which made Galvatron what they call a "Catastrophe-Class" due to his sheer power.

However when all hope seem lost the Autobots lead by Optimus Prime manage to find Galvatron in this strange world. Prime was horrified of the damage the Decepticon caused and swore he will stop Galvatron before anymore lives are lost. However not knowing the Cybertronian conflicts the inhabitants thought the Autobots were with the Decepticons attacked them.

However thankfully Demon Lord Rimuru Tempest willingly listened and heard the Autobot Leader out when he sensed a overwhelmingly good energy from the Matrix of Leadership itself.

With the Autobots help they were able to put astop to Galvatron and the Decepticons before the Demon Lords and Eastern Empire can launch their attack on the Decepticons. In a final battle Galvatron and Yuuki Kagurazaka who he recruited to his cause fought against Optimus Prime and Rimuru Tempest with help of the Storm Dragon Veldora Tempest. Galvatron rather becoming Super Megatron became Super Galvatron in the fight.

After many losses and sacrifices Galvatron was defeated but though the Autobots wanted to take into custody while the Central World Inhabitants wanted Galvatron executed. He was pulled away at the last second by Unicron himself where he suffered serve punishment for his treachery. Though it intrigued the Chaos Bringer of that world and thought to consume it later on.

Though peace didn’t last for long as thanks to the Transformers invention it speed up advancements and in that world when a civilization becomes too advanced they are usually attacked by angels to halt progress. Though with the Autobots protection they drove away any invading forces though it didn’t sit well with one of the watchers of that world Demon Lord Guy Crimson as he saw the Autobots interference breaking natural order the world was suppose to set up. Though the Demon Lord sensed the power of the Matrix of Leadership in Optimus Prime, despite him being one of the most powerful beings in that world, he would be no match for the Matrix of Leadership if Optimus used it on him here. So Guy Crimson decided to resort to diplomacy with Optimus Prime and Rimuru Tempest. In the end they manage work things out.

Eventually a new era dawned in the Central World as Humans, Demi-Humans and Cybertronains prospered however… it was a just matter of time before Unicron arrives…

Reincarnation has been a popular premise in anime and manga (generally fiction as a whole) for some time, allowing characters to come back from death in a new form and allowing them/us to explore a different version of life in another world or the same one from a new perspective.  That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is one such series, and it is one of my favorites with its ridiculous plot progression that jumps from final boss-level worries in one episode to the internal drama of a tight-knit community in the next (not to mention the fantastic cast of characters). Therefore I was ecstatic to learn that the series was getting a movie, Scarlet Bond, and even more delighted to find that there would be an international release. 

DUB vs. SUB

The movie was equally as entertaining as the show and manga. I ended up seeing the film twice. Once in Japanese with subtitles and once with English dubbing. There were some minor changes between the two texts, like Towa’s ending speech or how characters responded to some things, but I wouldn't say that it changed the meaning of the scenes in any significant way. To be honest, I found the dubbed version to be more enjoyable. While I am used to subtitles and have a slight grasp of Japanese, I was able to really take in the art and the action scenes better when I wasn't trying to switch between reading and watching on the big screen. Moreover, the voice actors for the new characters–specifically, Towa and Hiiro–were phenomenal. 

Part of my favorite thing within the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime anime is the over the top fight scenes and this movie was no different. There was some dramatic ones, there were some flashy ones, and there were ones that just looked epic. I felt like I got to enjoy these more when I was watching the dub version, because I could pay more attention to what was happening on screen. With the subtitled version, I was definitely reading a lot and there times when the subtitles disappeared too quickly for me to finish the sentence or second line of text. While I wasn't sure I was missing too much because the context was pretty straightforward, it certainly made me feel a little frustrated. 

[Spoilers] Should I see it if I haven't watched the show? 

No. I would not recommend seeing this movie if you haven't seen the show. Firstly, the movie opens in the midst of troubles with the Demon Lord Clayman (the Orc Lord arc), and there are a lot of things that tie in with events from Season 1 and Season 2 of the anime. I could maybe see missing Season 2 and still understanding the set up for the movie, but you'd need the context of Season 1 to fill-in some of the larger blanks since there aren't really character introductions. I think a lot of anime movies which continue a series tend to give brief characters introductions, and this one sort of does but it's not so much that I think you could miss Season 1 and still get the gist of the dynamic (at least, that's my opinion). Note: The movie picks up directly after Season 2, so there is not a big time gap between the events seen in the film and the show. 

My Feelings

I loved the movie. I loved the new characters–particularly Hiiro. I loved the animations. I thought that the opening action scene was epic and emotionally impactful. I felt invested in the progression of events and loved seeing the characters work out what was happening. 

I thought it was excellent and would rate it a 9/10. I give it a 9/10 only because I saw it in theaters but this would have received a 10/10 had I watched from home. It was worth the ticket prices to me, because I wanted to see it in theaters but this was probably one I could have enjoyed from home in a pay-to-watch sort of situation on Amazon Prime, YouTube, or–if they had the option–Crunchyroll/Funimation.

If you are a fan of the series, definitely add this to your watchlist!

Wrote this because I was bored, but idk about an update schedule. I'm going to try and release a decent few chapters, but once July rolls around its gonna probably go on hiatus for a 2-3 months since ill be starting a new job around then.

Yes, they'd all be so fucking confused because unlike Clay and Desmond, they have no fucking exposure to slimes as a concept. XD Thank you for answering my ask. 💜

Desmond has no idea why he had been reborn as a slime.

He also has no idea why his ancestors were reborn as slimes as well. They had all been confused but, as he had expected, his ancestors got used to it soon enough.

What he does know was that Clay had a hand in this, one way or another.

Why else would Clay be the only human in this strange lands?

It was pure petty on his part with a heavy sprinkle of being weak to his ancestors.

He would be unable to say no to them and he didn’t want to.

No one would be able to stop Altaïr from trying to see the limit of his abilities and what his clones can do. One of them could bounce on top of Desmond and keep him stationary and Desmond didn’t really want a slime clone bouncing on top of his poor golden slime body, thank you very much.

Ezio was more interested in checking the perimeter because Clay didn’t let them roam around his ranch. Desmond was pretty sure they’d get distracted and rush towards their food source though. There was something ingrained in their very core that made them forget most things when they notice their favorite food.

Ratonhnhaké:ton was probably the only one who had half-heartedly tried to stop Altaïr but Desmond knew him enough to know that if Altaïr gets outside and his clones started wrecking havoc, Ratonhnhaké:ton would be the one unlocking their pen and rushing out with Ezio for freedom.

… or food.

Probably food.

Desmond was just going to stay in the pen, maybe bounce around to encourage them.

He was, after all, the ‘good’ slime.

Later, Clay would come over to their pen, tired and dirty, holding all three of Desmond’s slime-turned ancestors and glaring at Desmond who was happily munching of his pile of Golden Ginger that one of Altaïr’s clones had delivered to them a few minutes after all hell broke lose.

Desmond saw Clay approaching and gobbled the remaining 10 Golden Gingers, more to annoy Clay that actual fear that Clay would ‘confiscate’ his unscheduled snacks.

“I know you’re the ring leader, you little piece of shit.” Clay hissed as he dropped the other three slimes who immediately rushed to surround Desmond, as if to protect him from Clay’s annoyance.

Desmond simply stared at him before giving him a big happy smile.

It was the kind of smile that made people believe he was just a sweet dumb slime.

But he knew Clay would understand what it truly meant.

“And what are you going to do about it, huh? Nothing. You can’t do shit, Clay. You try and take me out of our pen and you will have a Slime Revolution in your hands.”

From the way Clay looked both amused and annoyed at the same time…

Desmond knew Clay got the message.

Do you know about the game Slime Rancher? It's has a ton of really cute slimes and it's a very chill game. Just imagine if Desmond, being such a badass assassin, wakes up as a pile of cute sentient slime. XD Maybe alongside his ancestors and then Desmond sees Clay, who is the slime rancher, just scooping them all up to put them in a pen to collect and sell their poop. ^^

Well, at least they get fed everyday and don't have to worry about Tar slimes, so this is okay. Altaïr, stop trying to jump out the pen, please. Ezio! Stop hogging all the food! Ratonhnhaké:ton, stop laughing and help me!

I got a Slime Rancher Desmond ask before and I wasn’t that familiar with Slime Rancher before so it was more or less a setup where Desmond is an actual slime that can morph his appearance to his liking and it was set in the Third Crusades so, for this one, we’re going for full on Slime Rancher AU where Clay himself has been transmigrated to…

The last game he played!

Clay had been testing out an incomplete version of Slime Rancher as an alpha tester before he got the mission to infiltrate Abstergo so he didn’t know all of the ‘new’ and improved mechanics from the barebone game he had tested back then.

He does know that to live in this world, he would have to make use of slime poops (that they call plorts apparently).

So Clay sets up a pretty much adequate ranch and even manages to get enough slimes to give him plorts that would cover for his living expenses, the expenses of taking care of the slimes and have enough to save up for stuff he might need or might want.

Along the way, he finds out that there is no way out of this world.

Whether this was meant to be some kind of digital afterlife his digital self had gotten himself into or if this was some sort of strange reward for his ‘contributions’ to the Calculations, Clay has no idea.

He doesn’t mind though.

It was kinda relaxing and his slimes were doing all pretty docile as long as they get fed.

Clay makes sure they get fed and even gave them small houses… mostly because he had been bored.

His slime ranch was also growing and he has enough funds to expand the ranch itself, maybe include a separate enclosure for the next slimes he’d tame or maybe even get a new pond so he can get more puddle slime.

He should probably do something about those four troublemakers though.

Of course it had to be the three slimes named after Seventeen’s ancestors that would cause a bit of mischief in this peaceful ranch.

Altaïr the Quantum Slime was using one of his clones to jump out of the pen again and get to the Phase Lemons that Clay had planted for the damn thing.

Ezio the Crystal Slime was by the edge of the pen as well and Clay was sure that damn slime was going to make a break for Clay’s stash of Odd Onions the moment all hell breaks loose and Altaïr had managed to infiltrate the Phase Lemons.

And surrounding both of them are Connor the Hunter Slime (look, Clay tried but he can’t remember Connor’s real name, alright?) and Desmond the Gold Slime, looking like they were egging Altaïr on or trying to stop him.

Clay was betting on the first.

There was a reason why they were the only Slime of their kind.

Their food were hard to get and they were the troublemakers of the ranch.

But still…

Clay couldn’t hate them.

Why should he?

They were just slimes after all.
