my cat has figured out that at sunset rn we all light candles. If I stand by the menorahs after dark and don't start singing and lighting em with my parents she comes to nip at my ankles and yell at me. she sat down and watched the candles burn down last night for like an hour. hanukkah is ending so soon I bet she's gonna be so perplexed and annoyed

i recognize the complex layers around language and how things that may be appropriate for lesbians to use are not always okay for men to use.  I apologize that my use of language made you uncomfortable.  For clarification, the description of my hair was me referring to my own historical haircut, as I described it when I was a self-identified d-ke (rather than a lesbian), and I self-identified my hairstyle as a “spikey-d-ke” haircut.  

There’s no way you could have necessarily known that but I do still own my past- i was married as a lesbian for many years, and i lived in the lesbian community for more than 10 years,  my identity as a former d-ke is a very real and valid part of my history.   Again, I do regret that my use of this word caused you discomfort (as this is not my own personal blog, but rather a Q&A blog) but please also recognize that our own life experiences color our expression.  I don’t ever use that word as a slur, or to apply it to others without their permission, but i do describe my past experience the way i always have.   that won’t change because that was my reality.

based on the artist’s signature in inuktitut syllabics in bottom left, this work is by miriam marealik qiyuk (1933-2016). qiyuk moved to baker lake, nunavut, the location depicted in this textile, in her 20s. the eye border motif appears in a dated 1974 work.

miriam marealik qiyuk was an interdisciplinary artist who worked predominantly in textile and stone carvings. due to a wool allergy, she moved away from fabric works in 1980. the baker lake textile is likely from the mid-late 1970s.

qiyuk came from a prolific family of artists. her mother was the highly influential jessie oonark, and her siblings include artists victoria mamnguqsualuk, janet kigusiuq, nancy aupaluktuq and william noah.

It’s super chocolatey though. Like, I open the packet and started salivating. The aroma coming off the exfoliant is miles stronger than the bottles of pure fragrance.

I’m saving it for some oreo-themed soap cupcakes at the moment. I don’t think you’d notice the beachy scents in any mixed bars.

PSA:

Acetaminophen/paracetamol has a hard stop upper dose limit, above which it becomes extremely toxic.

That limit is 4g (8 “extra strength” (500mg) tablets) in 24 hours (about 2 tablets every 6 hours).

A single dose of 22 extra strength tablets can kill you.

Taking 12 or more tablets per day for more than a week can also kill you (this is about 3 tablets every 6 hours).

Symptoms of overdose take up to 24 hours to manifest, and are fairly difficult to distinguish from other problems. They include abdominal pain (especially right upper quadrant), nausea, malaise, and confusion.

The antidote (n-acetylcystine) must be given within 8hours of ingestion in order to be useful.

After 10 hours the only thing that will work is a liver transplant.

You might think “why would I ever accidentally take so much?”

Well, acetaminophen is in almost everything in the cold/flu/pain aisle. Migraine combos like Excedrin, cold and flu combos like NyQuil, basically anything that says “non-aspirin pain relief”, and anything that’s branded as a fever reducer. It’s all probably acetaminophen/paracetamol.

So the goal of this post is to get you to read the labels on your medications. Because taking taking Tylenol and NyQuil together for a week (like you might if you had the flu) could kill you.
