I’m def a big fan of the Locomotive Olympics thing — that seems genuinely cool.

The Great Race has its problems lol... a lot of them. I'm not denying it. But the songs are bangers, the Fat Controller being harried by the antics of all the engines as they beg to be chosen is funny af, the group-y dynamics are pretty interesting, Diesel is adorable in his half-pint villainry, the Locomotive Olympics was a neat concept, Gordon was a bloody legend as he sang "The Shooting Star Is Coming Through" (the suspense! the drama!! the way he was smoking the rest of them!!!), the theatrics and "special effects" type stuff was a proper spectacle, that signalman deserves all the payraises...

I think even Ashima (her whole plotline was clearly the worst-handled element of the whole thing) Deserved Better™. The writers did her dirty. In fact she was a flop of a concept and there was no way to do her well. But? The part in their song when Thomas, with the world's biggest pout, is literally disparaging every aspect of himself ("Every bit of me is short and stumpy/My funnel and my boiler and my dome"—better classic-series nostalgia than the entirety of The Adventure Begins if you ask me!) and Ashima assures him that "if you ask me, you're completely ✨ bona-fidey ✨"?

All my respect and appreciation to the artists and writers who show Stan reminding Ford to get some sleep, but the sleep schedule aboard the Stan O’ War II would be so incredibly cursed.

On the one hand, we have Ford “Gets So Fixated On Whatever He’s Investigating That He Ends Up Working Until He Literally Passes Out, and Was Also On the Run for Decades With Few Opportunities to Rest” Pines, on the other we have Stan “Became Essentially Nocturnal For Thirty Years, Running a Small Business in the Daytime and Rebuilding a Portal At Night, Relying Mainly On Naps” Pines.

The two brothers with the worst possible sleep schedules are now in the middle of the ocean with nobody else for comparison.

Yeah, neither of them are getting the recommended seven hours.
