I made Rook's mom in the sims because I was bored and wanted to see what she'd look like. Gorgeous, as it turns out!! Which isn't surprising given her son is the most beautiful man of all time. Rook doesn't even know her name or anything about her, and has never met her, since she handed him off to Alistair at the first chance she got. Rook has no interest in meeting her because of that, plus the fact that in his mind, all birth/legal family is awful and fucked. As far as he's concerned, he doesn't have a mother.

#konan#and nagato#man i.....just have to post the entire panel#because it gets me in a way you can't understand#this is the first time we see nagato as an adult and he is looking Bad. like real bad#look at him. the exposed ribs. the cheekbones. the thin frail arms#but of course look at the Fucking machine#i love that design man it rocks. it's sturdy and menacing and it is DEFINITELY a walker given the way it has leg-like things on the sides#and i also love the chakra receptors on his back. like it gives him some kind of unholy halo or wings do you get me.#nagato is to me the perfect image of the “man who became god” phenomenon#and now on to konan which is the cherry on top of this pic#it's the way she's touching the side of the machine in an affectionate way. konan loves nagato. she loves him a lot. he is her only friend.#and he is the only reason why she even bother staying in akatsuki!! i have no doubt that she is some kind of caregiver to him#given his frail health and that is personally a very important thing to me the mod.#there is so much love behind that simple gesture. this is one of my favorite panels Ever.#there is a sentence that more or less goes like “god is your best friend”#konan doesn't sees nagato as a god like the ame citizens do. she sees her friend.#ok im done

Count-y DD, my beloved, I've been sitting on this ask forever because I LOVED it so much, I really thought I was gonna make a big recipe post with heavily filtered pictures (I used to write a fake lifestyle blog as a joke) --and I probably still will sometime when I'm procrastinating at work.
BUT I was reminded of the plant tip question as I was wandering around the complete mess of my garden after leaving it for two weeks and thinking how much of gardening is failure. It's a real exercise in trying something, it not working, and trying something differently, trying something else, or just trying again. I am a plant serial killer. If that were a crime, I would go to jail for a thousand years for all the plants I killed. But it's part of the process! You don't know what's going to work in your yard until you've experimented, had some duds, and felt out what works for your light and soil situation, and what doesn't. And of course, research is good, but the best thing is just trying - experimenting and paying attention to the results.
I think a lot of new gardeners get excited about a new plant or garden bed, kill one, or hell, all of their plants, and then get discouraged and decide they're just not good at it. This false idea that you have a green thumb or you don't. But I think the real thing is trial and error and not getting discouraged when you face setbacks in the garden. Sunflower seeds didn't come up, or they did, but then some idiot went to France and didn't water them for two weeks? Okay, there are like a hundred seeds in those little packs! Plant them again! All plants have natural lifespans, even perennials that come back year after year. Even your most successful, beautiful plants can just up and die on you and that's okay. You didn't do anything wrong, it's part of gardening.

Merch and Manga haul from yesterday
#prince's talk tag#ok so the kaeya keychain and white rabbit!len were gifts from my friend i was with yesterday#the len was a from a blind box so they got lucky with that one#but the rest of it i bought yesterday#i saw wxs!miku and my friend was like 'You're getting her. you have to get her!' and so i did#niigo!miku wasnt available only wxs and vbs and this was the last one there#kino currently has these 10th anniversary pins in two styles and you can see both with the kanji and naoto pins#i like the style of kanji's more but they didnt have that style for naoto so I had to get the other one#next time i go ill see if they have the other style#the other three charms in the pic i got at a secondhand bookshop that also has anime merch#i dont do a3 but i do know some things bc of my mutual (LC if you see this hi hi! o/ )#but i thought the charm was cute and it was cheap so i bought it#the rin one was really nice im happy i found it#bc all these charms were mixed in the many rows of hooks they were hanging on. theres no order you just gotta dig for what you want#and lisa was one of my faves when i played bang dream so i got her too#ok now the manga!! im continuing my gekkan shoujo collection bc i will own this whole series its my favorite series ever im so serious#i had hirano and kagiura and twilight out of focus on my wishlist but they came out too close to xmas and my bday to get for it#and then i forgot they came out already until i saw them and decided to get them#i didn't know spy fam got a novel and since thats another series i wanna own everything of bc thats my second fav series ever#i bought it and im interested in seeing whats the story#bottom right im really enjoying that manga and theyre skinny so i can fit a bunch of them :D#bottom middle with the sticker on it my friend knew about it and recommended it and i wasnt gonna buy it#but kino were giving out stickers if you bought the first volume and i love bonus merch sooooo i got it#the two in the bottom left i got at the secondhand bookstore. theyre both yuri anthologies that ive read about in other yuri series#and i hadnt seen them at the other bookstores so i got them at the secondhand one#and bc i bought so much stuff i needed a bag and i saw that cute one of miku baking cookies with her friends faces on them so i got it#it was a fun day!! :D

#song of the day#'if I don't make it back from where I've gone / just know I loved you all along'#I'm setting up my queue for a more proper recommendation tomorrow but I've been rereading 'shoulder the sky' by Night_Fury#the whole series draws from various Amazing Devil lines for titles and such#'back then I was dauntless' is my favorite reworking of the Melidaan arc I've ever seen absolutely anywhere#and the title is a line from my favorite Amazing Devil song 'The Calling' but 'Inkpot Gods' is used to stunning effect in-story#and the beautiful refrain from the end of the song is playing in my head now as I keep going into the series#today was a deeply unpleasant day: the inevitable finally happened and Duncan cut himself doing his mudlarking#we'd been trying to schedule a preventative tetanus shot but several times we've gone in for the properly scheduled shot#and found out that they didn't actually have one in stock. unspeakably frustrating#and today we ran out of time for a preventative one. I woke up#(actually I woke up for work as he was going out for his walk but I got a migraine halfway through my morning meeting--no good--#and took the rest of the day off--turns out to have been a very good thing--and went back to sleep. so I woke up the second time)#to Duncan coming back from his walk with a sliced finger and the grody plastic-and-tin swan that had done the slicing#(picture of said swan under the cut because why not. it does look neat. can't see the sharp edge in the pic though it's underneath)#and so then we called the pharmacy and got the same automated 'of course you can have a tetanus shot' as ever so we made an appointment#and we got there and they did actually have a shot in stock this time! except that they weren't able to administer it#because now he's post-exposure that's a different shot and they aren't allowed. so we had to go to the urgent care instead#all told we spent about four hours out of the house on this mission but Duncan did get his shot and some bonus antibiotic goo for the cut#and it was worth it but also bleeeeeeegh it was miserable. which is where my recommendations do come in#when I tell y'all that I spent today reading Night_Fury's fics and also looking at valiants' CoD art and it saved me#whooo I mean it. being simultaneously stressed + bored is the nightmare state for me and instead I had wonderful things in my phone
